Greetings! This is not a request, not even a suggestion, but a gift (?) in form of sharing a poem. I still think with pleasure and gratitude of your Vergil fics, my mind immediately went there when I was re-reading Shakespeare's Sonnet 87. Here it is, an open door to angst: "Farewell! thou art too dear for my possessing, And like enough thou know’st thy estimate. The charter of thy worth gives thee releasing; My bonds in thee are all determinate. For how do I hold thee but by thy granting, And for that riches where is my deserving? The cause of this fair gift in me is wanting, And so my patent back again is swerving. Thy self thou gav’st, thy own worth then not knowing, Or me, to whom thou gav’st it, else mistaking; So thy great gift, upon misprision growing, Comes home again, on better judgment making. Look. I dunno if I'm crying because this is too beautiful or the fact that you read some Shakespeare and remembered of lil' ol' me and my writings - and then SENT ME A SONET AS A GIFT.

This is one of the most beautiful and heartwarming things someone has ever done for me. There are no words to express how thankful I am and for how flattered I feel for all this.

At the end of the day, I write for myself but also for everyone else who can find some solace in these words. Thank you, really.

Now, for that sonet, I hadn't read it before! I'm not from an English speaking country, so we don't really study Shakespeare and sonets and such - it's mostly a hobby for me, so I'm delighted to get to know something new ^^

Aaaaaand it's Vergil all over. Angsty, thinking he is undeserving of the person giving him love, releasing them from the shackles of staying with him (he's dumb 'cause he doesn't realize it isn't a shackle though - or, if it is, it's something his s/o chose willingly - cue in Arwen and the "I choose a mortal life" bit).

Now, now. I do think his s/o would answer with something along the lines of:

"Take this kiss upon the brow! And in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow - You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream." (Edgar Allan Poe, A Dream Within a Dream)

And go sort of "if we can't know where a dream ends and reality starts, and all is a dream within a dream, then it makes no difference if I decide to be with you, even if you deem yourself unworthy, for like hope, is it less gone if we are in a dream or in reality?" or something like that. Just a little possible interaction to haunt us between Vergil and his s/o ;)

Once again, thank you so SO much. You are too kind and I'm lucky to have you around, reading my works and appreciating my words. I hope to keep seeing you in the bibliothéque, you're always welcome <3

you're losing me really gives a lot of insight onto the problems between taylor and joe that were smoothed over in songs like sweet nothing and new years day, but I think it's also a wonderful contrast to how a relationship can be BOTH. and how difficult it is to navigate the good and bad when a relationship that lasted for more than half a decade is over. the love was there but in the end it still didn't work out.

I'm a real tragedy enjoyer but Luis's death is no longer narratively enjoyable for me, now it just feels like an insult. I'm tired of characters having to die to be "redeemed". It's not their death that is the redemption, it's the fact that they were willing to die in the first place; it's the intent of sacrifice. I much prefer a narrative where Luis survives and is forced to every day atone for his past mistakes. I much prefer when characters don't get the respite of death, when they have to live with their demons, when they have to face their past and maintain their growth. And it's especially maddening when the only reason Luis dies is because he did in the original. They'll change his character so much to give him substance but they won't change his fate? I don't want that.

i've seen some people bringing up the parallel of how tim told lucy that they were worth the risk to how tim broke up with her... this is a great parallel don't get me wrong and it is so painful and i feel so sad for lucy

HOWEVER i've also seen people absolutely railing on tim and calling him a coward for leaving her and saying that this is unforgivable. i get being upset with him, i'm not saying that's wrong. but i just want to offer my take:

tim is absolutely broken down. this is the lowest point he's ever reached and it's been building and building since before we even met him. everything that happened in his childhood, in the army, with isabel, the trauma we've seen from the job these last 5-6 seasons. and now this, which has brought everything he's never dealt with to the surface. he truly believes in his bones that lying to lucy was what he had to do to protect her. even when lucy (rightfully) told him to stop, he said he can't because it's who he is. it's all he has right now because if he's going to lie and break the rules and compromise him morals, he is damn sure going to do whatever it takes to protect the people he loves.

he grew up with an abusive father who made him believe that he doesn't deserve to be loved, let alone unconditionally. he had no control in his childhood so he got that control by joining the military, and when he finally had that control?? he screwed up and blames himself for getting his teammates killed. he tried to gain back that control by becoming a police officer/to but never felt like he needed to move up any higher than that and now we know why. he didn't want to be a leader again because he didn't think he deserved it. he was terrified of losing lucy with the UC work and didn't even realize it, because when she's gone, he doesn't know what's going on and can't back her up. he has no control.

and now this? he compromised everything he believes in, as he said, "to save his career" but it's not that simple. if he told the truth, that angela and lucy knew about everything and still helped him, they would still lose everything he tried to protect them from. he can't even look at himself in the mirror right now.

he's not a coward for breaking up with lucy. he's not walking away because they had a fight and he doesn't want to work through it. in fact, she validated everything he did!! she showed him that she still loves him no matter what he did, that she would've done the same thing. but to him, that's even worse because he doesn't believe he deserves unconditional love, so when lucy gives it, he thinks that he's dragging her down because how could anyone love him after this. giving their relationship a shot was worth the risk because she is worth the risk. but him? he's not worth it

it's not cowardly to take yourself out of a relationship that you're not mentally okay to be in.

DC x DP Prompt Where it's like Twilight Princess-esque

Midna-esque Danny who needs to get back to the Ghost Zone and get rid of Pariah before he invades the world with an army of the undead. But he's stuck in small almost baby-man esque form or possessing a shadow.

Enter batfamily member (or maybe all of them) who can see him, but have also gotten turned into an animal. Kind of hard to do things in Gotham or wherever they are when you don't have fingers nor can you ask for assistance. But well, invasion by the undead? Banished prince? Who only they can see thanks to being partially dead??? Breakdowns later, stopping the end of the world now.

Time to find a way to the Lazarus pits to try and cleanse the guardians there, which apparently is a thing?? The batfam didn't know that but apparently it's been corrupted for a while- and hopefully they don't slip into like, an in-between state of existence or something. Now if only there weren't several people and ghosts trying to stop them- and they have to avoid the government too?? Some sort of anti-ecto acts?? That's something they'll have to deal with later, after the whole, freeing the lil ghost-prince's siblings and dad and taking down the ghost king...

#Danny is ghost prince via Clockwork seeing as Pariah was sealed away before they finished separation #So legally he's technically Pariah's stepson which he's not happy about at all #dcxdp #dpxdc #prompts #Fright Knight is sealed into his sword & probably acts similar to the stalfos that trains Link to the batfam #IF they want to use the sword they have to Earn the right even if they're helping the lil prince #The other heroes are probably scrambling to find wherever the batclan disappeared to and freaked out #Danny woke up and chose violence that day and is ready to bite and kick pariah #Clockwork is locked in his tower and trying to help Danny whenever and however he can #Totally wasn't behind Danny running into the batfam even if they got animal-fied via magic #Vlad is probably causing problems but might get a redemption arc #honestly up to the writer #i have so many thoughts about this
