I work in a behavioral therapy adjacent role, and I recently came across a cool information sheet about food sensory input that, I mean, because I think about Steddie at all times, immediately made me think of @hotluncheddie's autistic Steve stuff. Which I need to read more of! But, in the meantime, I thought this was cool.
It also maybe kind of explains my occasional intense need for cronchy and/or sour foods.
The following a checklist of foods organized into different textures, flavors, and consistencies. You can use this list to become “detectives” to help determine what works best to calm or alert your child (depending on the needs at the time). This can help bring your youth move to the desired energy level (calm or alert). This can provide sensory input throughout the day in order to adjust their arousal level to meet the demands of the situation.

Chewy Foods- CALM
Crunchy Foods- ALERT
Sucking (candy or through a straw)- FOCUS
There are several ways to get oral sensory input using non-food items. They are most often used while the jaw utilizes the chewing and sucking sensations (muscle work). Some ideas include:
Chewing gum (muscle work for the jaw and cheeks).
Chewing on straws (muscle work for the jaw and cheeks).
Using and exercise water bottle (sucking, using muscles).
Using a smaller or larger straw depending on how much work you want the jaw muscles to have.
Chewing on soft rubber tubing.
Musical instruments that require mouth input (recorder, harmonicas, flutes etc.)
Heart exploding piñata candy allover your body, tootsie rolls flowing through your arteries, cotton candy dancing in your lungs, sugary mars bubblegum filled lollipops peak from your eyes as you fall hopelessly further in love with him. His fingers melt into your cheeks, burning and dissolving your candy coated insides into a liquid fire of a molten river filled with pinked sweet syrup. You want to swim in his chocolate eyes like August Gloop. Never full of him.
Would he taste sweet? Oh how your lips cried a sorrowful song not being able to lick the sweet words that drip from them.
Alright, here’s the last batch of Little Lads for this year! 😆 This set is all themed to confectionery AKA the typical stuff you’ll see at a candy store! 🍬 I can’t have a year pass by, where I don’t make a set themed to some sort of food 🤣
she'll take a blue raspberry jolly rancher thanks. not questioning where it came from. if k corp can't keep an eye on their office candy jar that's their problem.
Severely overestimated how many kids would be trick or treating this year. I just assumed with all the schools nearby and all the houses being sold and bought over the last couple of years, there would be more young families (so... kids) in the neighborhood.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is I have a shit ton of candy in my house -- a variety of chocolate bars, tootsie rolls, starbursts, skittles, etc. I wish I could share them all with you in place of simblreen treats. 🎃🍬🍫
HC: Let's talk candy!🍬 Okay, okay, okay, so I know Purtians don't celebrate Halloween, BUT, I have a headcanon that Kid Caleb's favorite candies would probably be hard and soft candies! ESPECIALLY, BUTTERSCOTCH! I dunno, he just seems like a butterscotch loving baby lol!
Now, unto, Kid Philip! Listen, he would LITERALLY LOVE ALL THE HALLOWEEN CANDY! EXCEPT for the stuff that kids his age would probably hate like black licorice, tootsie rolls, raisins, and "loser candy". Oh, and candy corn? He doesn't like that either. Stuff's cursed! He believes that eating it will probably turn you into a rat or toad lol.
🛒- grocery stores/places to get food- (dont know if grocery stores where we live r well known but) we sometimes like instant food from grocery stores(tend to use ingredients from like. idk vegetables from vegetable stalls bc more common here but stuff like pasta n wheat flour we get it from grocery stores) but we're not usually the ones buying the food bc the bodys parents do - but listing ones that may be more well known that I liked when I lived in the states - costco, walmart, harris teeter(ok mostly bc of free sugar cookies n when I was younger free balloons), lotte plaza, Patel brothers(tho idk if its still there)
🍬- sweets/candies - most chocolate stuff, baklava, most types of pudding or custard, tootsie rolls, cadbury 5 star, chewy caramels, candy corn, mars bars, twix, three musketeers, cotton candy, strawberry milky bar choo, starburst, nestle strawberry flavored chocolate bars(ok yes that is a lot now)
🧋- cold drinks - we tend to prefer warm drinks but cold ones r cool too! - milkshakes (usually strawberry, caramel, or chocolate), strawberry milk, jigarthanda (a drink made by boiling milk to make sweetened condensed milk and adding almond gum which is made from almond tree sap, sometimes mixed with ice cream), some types of fruit juice, some types of flavored water, sparkling apple or grape juice
Okay, but really I can't choose. Kit-kats, tootsie rolls, gummy bears, jelly beans, some gummy worms, Cadbury cream eggs, conversation hearts, candy corn. Yes. Even candy corn and black licorice.
If I had to pick ONE. Cherry Sours. Love those.
⛓️- Halloween Costume!
Probably Ash Ketchum. I got a Pikachu plush and I can grab green gloves at work. Plus I have an umbreon hoodie as a backup.
You know what... I like it! 🍫🍬🍭 Thank you 🙂 I thought of Toots, but (b/c of the Tootsie Roll however my brain made it a double entendre which is why) I feel like that's probably a bit antiquated, maybe awkwardly inappropriate 😅 I don't know? Maybe the word can be used in Dirty Deeds? It feels like it'd be a better fit given the context & history, lol.
LOL toots, please thats so funny to me. i could call you tootsie as well, i think that's adorable if you like it :) but since you like sweets i'll use sweets!
ooooh i could use the word in Dirty Deeds somehow!
