Dear staff,

Please give us the option to turn off Tumblr Live for more than a week. As in, permanently.

I don't want to have a dash where once a week the header turns into six buxom-but-vaguely-fake-looking people with cringey sub-porno usernames. I don't want that - FULL STOP.

It's not "maybe next week this user will want the porn bots". THIS USER DOES NOT WANT THEM AT ALL, FULL STOP.

And not because I'm anti porn or anti sex. I just don't want it shoved in my face without my say-so. Especially not by bots.

It makes no sense to maintain the boob ban and yet to have created - and forced upon us - this feature which has clearly instantly become the go-to for porn bots.

Not that my weighing in on anything means anything, but here’s my two cents as a decade plus user:

Tumblr has a TERF problem and has had one for a while. The amount of content on this website that was built around the HP fandom in the early days I think is particularly why. JKR did her thing and there was already a built-in cushion of diehards who might not have even had a formed opinion likely became transphobic and transmisogynists in defense of their favorite series.

The truscum and TERF lesbians catapulted themselves to the center of this new bloc by using the usual prey upon tactics, only fortifying their following.

Like any space being leeched upon by the far right, Tumblr was never really a place to take a foothold before as it was largely viewed as the SJW site- better to attack (like 4chan did) than to join. But it’s different now. It’s the last beacon of non-algorithmic social media. Sure the hardcore Nazis mostly stayed on Twitter post-Musk but you have to think how many of the TERFs who identify as LGB (no T) would leave a worse hellsite for this one.

What I’m getting at is, if you’ve been paying attention to the Tumblr ecosystem for as long as I have, you notice the trends. This issue has been festering for awhile, to claim as a CEO for the site that it’s misinformation is to ignore countless user experiences, most of us who’ve been using this site since before the acquisition by said CEO and company.

We’ve had this issue for years now, we’ve been trying to tell you, and you’ve done next to nothing. This is unacceptable and the backlash you’re getting from this is hubris.

Hey @staff can you get rid of the Underlined Colored words for Android users? Literally no other way of accessing Tumblr has this EXCEOT FOR ANDROID USERS.

For those with Iphones and those on Computer- this is what it looks like.

Its annoying, Hard to read and i feel like im loosing my mind. It ruins a lot of the aesthetic of having a colored Text post!

also clicking on the url of the OP should bring us to the specific post, not OP’s blog. some of us love archive digging and reviving old posts. we want to see the specific post, not the most recent posts of OP.

Did anyone else get followed by 200 bot accounts overnight? They do not even appear in the activity tab, they're not shown at the 'new followers' count, the only way you can see is if you notice your number of followers rising rapidly, and by checking the followers list.

And these are some new generation bots. Each one has a suggestive picture, no title, and one single post reblogged. They're programmed differently than before, to reblog one post to appear real. I need a way to mass-report them because it's going to take hours going through them individually.

PLEASE DO NOT GIFT ME BADGES

Tumblr is getting rid of avatars and no longer showing where a reblog comes from in post headers to “afford more room for badges.”

I always felt kinda bad when I was gifted badges and then didn’t use them, cuz people spent actual money on them. So I’m asking, please do not gift me badges, or any other tumblr merch for that matter.

I threw them a bone last year and paid for the ad-free because the ads and blazed softcore porn on the app were infuriating, but I’m canceling it. They’re not getting anything from me anymore. I’ll have to switch back to using the Firefox mobile browser. Hopefully the new dash un-fuckers that are going around will work on mobile.

I genuinely do not know what I will do if Tumblr takes away curated dashboards with reverse chronological order

I cannot use a social media that has a jumbled feed with stuff I didn't choose to watch in a chronological order

It makes no sense to me, is confusing, and makes me not want to use the site

But if I don't have Tumblr I lose my only community

I am disabled to the point that I cannot leave my house unassisted. I don't have the physical means to go anywhere without help. My only other form of socialising outside of my house is a monthly meet up with a local queer group that I can't even always manage to attend

Most of my socialising and sense of community come from fandom spaces on Tumblr. And that may seem sad and pathetic to some of you but it has been a life-line for the last 7 years

I would have felt a lot more isolated and alone without Tumblr

And if Tumblr makes the drastic changes it's talking about with the dash it will make this website non-functional to me

I don't use Facebook or twitter or Instagram for this reason

I use tiktok sporadically but I don't have a feeling of community there at all and it's not good for my mental health

Reddit is also a no go on the current climate

The only option I can see a return of forums but I don't know how easy it will be to find each other on the current web

This is really worrying me because I don't want to feel alone and cut off from humanity any more than I already do

I really hope @staff @wip reconsider the changes. Some of them are good but not the changes to the dash

A tutorial on how to use the site on sign up and better search function and make the tags page better and tags better to use in general would do what they want without breaking functionality
