you know, an interpretation of ct that I don't see that I personally really love is that she's a fuck up. like yes she's cool and she has some good fight scenes, but a huge part of her character is that she makes mistakes. the mistakes that she makes are ones that on their own aren't the end of the world, but she keeps making these little mistakes, and they eventually add up until she's out of room to make any more.
a really good example of this phenomenon in action is the actions she took leading up to her final confrontation with carolina and tex.
strike one, she thought she saw something in the water, but when asked by the leader what it was, she brushed it off as nothing when even if it had been nothing, it would've been smart to tell him what she thought she saw.
strike two, she didn't sense or notice florida's presence when the leader did, and she looks at the leader twice, once as she pulled out her magnums, and again after she did a scan of the room, almost like she was looking at him for guidance before he finds florida and takes him out with one good axe throw.
strike three, she couldn't convince the leader to leave when they had the chance to get away, and her cheap tricks were not enough to hold off either tex or carolina in a fight. they were only good for incapacitating her opponents enough for her to get away, which doesn't work when she has no escape.
ct is not tex, or carolina, or south. she is not a one woman army who can get herself out of trouble when she's stuck in tough situations. she needs people who can watch her back, she need a team who can cover her when she does mess up, and the leader and his team were not those people. she couldn't bring herself to trust them, and they couldn't bring themselves to trust her, and that cost all of them their lives.

i rewatched the scene with Gwen and Miguel (+the whole society) where he sends her back and it was just so…., obv when i first watched it in the cinema it seemed cruel to me and the fact that he was doing this to a child didn’t sit right. but after looking at the scenes close up and looking through them - what the actual fuck?
like here you have Miguel, a full grown adult, who forcibly sends Gwen (a terrified vulnerable teenager who had to watch her best friend get chased by hundreds of people who she thought wouldn’t harm him) back home with the machine, and it’s so??? the way she was trying to get out - the crowd basically just watching her get sent back to a place where she has no stable support system, and nobody to help her. (also, the machine restraining her made me feel sick to my stomach oh god.)
and when Gwen looks at Jess and says that they were supposed to be the good guys. oh good god. somebody give her happiness, please.

FEELINGS ON THE TALIESIN ASHTON MOST STRESSFUL CHOICE EVER ?
(It took exactly 60 seconds after it happened for terrible stinky bad takes on both ashton AND taliesin to show up in the main tag so i wish to ask a sane person)
I think it was an incredibly stupid and potentially lethal (in-game, obviously; out-of-game is fine) decision born of immense hubris, that blew past Matt's repeated warnings, which is to say, that's why I love Ashton as a character and Taliesin as a player.
I'm just going to give a brief overview of the hypothetical takes and my allegedly sane (thanks for that, I appreciate it, and will attempt to live up to it) perspective thereof:
People who agree with me and enjoy Ashton because of the above: my people, obviously they are correct and great.
People who agree with me but dislike Ashton because of the above, and are normal about Taliesin as a player (this does not mean they have to like him, merely that they acknowledge this was an in-character decision that made sense for Ashton to have made, even if they aren't a fan): valid! We all have different tastes, and my fave might not be your fave and that's okay!
People who think this was selfish and mean and deprived Fearne of the shard: she did not want it and it was discussed in-game. In fact Fearne was the only person who knew of their intent. (No one else was champing at the bit either for it). It was selfish, in-character, because Ashton is often extremely self-serving as many punks are; it is not unreasonable as a player move once no one else has expressed sincere enthusiasm for it.
People who think that people being mad means something is inherently wrong: how the fuck do you get through the day, honestly. Again, develop conflict resolution skills and healthy ways of expressing anger (no, constant sublimation is NOT healthy though it's part of a balanced anger management system).
The crew that just fucking hates Taliesin can be disregarded forever; this is true for any cast member's crew of haters. This is also to be fair true for any cast member's crew of blindly adoring obsessives. moderation in all things. One of them said that if Ashton weren't present in the campaign it would be unchanged which is the stupidest thing I've heard in a while.
That probably covers everything; basically, this was in-character, and it's okay if you dislike it in a normal way, it's bad if you dislike it in a weird shriek-y hateful way, everyone should go get into more pointless fun arguments with their friends for sport, and also consume a beverage (alcoholic or otherwise).

i am not immune to being apprehensive to change when it comes to something i really like getting a redesign/rebrand/what have you, but i think what the try guys have been doing lately is an exception. in my opinion, the best like, refreshes of a long-lasting brand/group are the ones that have (at least some of) the same recognizable elements of its previous iteration(s):
from day one, branding with the try guys has had a heavy emphasis on color, with the blue/red/green/purple scheme representing keith/ned/zach/eugene, respectively. the colors were in their intro and outro to their videos, they're still especially present in their merchandise, the whole nine yards. with ned rightfully getting kicked out of the group for his "consensual workplace relationship" (jesus), it made sense that they had to stop and change their branding after this sudden event.
the orange era serves as a good bridge between the quartet group icon they started with and the neon triangle icon we have now, but it was kinda temporary. in a way, the try guys as a brand were having an identity crisis, having lost both a founding member and a (now former) friend. i think the current rebrand is a solid mix of their past and future, the blue/green/purple making a return + the triceratops remaining in the center, and the new elements with the triangles and general neon aesthetic (sidenote: triangle + triceratops + try/tri guys makes me go insane. i love it)
i also really like how the orange is reincorporated with the portraits for each of the guys in the pictures shared on their social accounts. alongside this, their poses showcasing their general personalities with the fact that the triangles are play buttons (which i didn't know until i read some alt text on one of their their tweets, whoops!):
overall present a strong sense of familiarity with the boys, but Also the excitement they have on moving forward with whatever the future brings, and i just think that's neat :)
*i didn't know where to fit this bit besides the very end,
but i like the idea that the triangles can also represent a fast forward button, further pushing the idea of the guys moving forward. likely more of a coincidence here but still cool nonetheless :P

Seeing the MCSM fans fight over Lukesse and Jesskas like they're different ships is the most annoying and funniest thing because they're the same ship just different genders, it's useless and a waste of energy yes one gay and one straight depending on the Jesse but still it feels like It's becoming a joke At this point
