It’s been such a long week, y’all. There’s so much to do everyday, and there’s barely a chance to slow down and collect my thoughts! The picture on the right is from my physics lab. That thing is just as complicated as it looks, lol. At first, my equipment was faulty so I kept getting weird results and it was so confusing. But now, I’m headed on the right track!

how to stay motivated long-term
trust, me i know that long-term motivation and consistency is hard. long-term motivation might be difficult to maintain, but there are effective techniques to help you stay focused and determined. whether you're seeking personal ambitions, academic achievements, or professional success, here are some strategies to help encourage motivation:
understand the reason behind your goal ☆ does your goal contribute to personal growth or meaningful relationships? ☆ how does your goal impact others? ☆ is your goal meaningful to you? if your goal lacks meaning, it may be hard to maintain motivation.
positive and negative motivation motivation can come from different places ☆ positive motivation: the desire to experience pleasure ☆ negative motivation: the desire to avoid something (an outcome) both types of motivation have their place, so learn to recognise what type fits in where. (post on this coming soon)
set up systems use your initial motivation to set up structures: ☆ create routines, systems and habits that help you towards your goal even when your motivation fluctuates ☆ when your emotions wane, rely on these systems and disciplines to maintain momentum
break down goals ☆ tackle one goal at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed ☆ set achievable milestones and celebrate each step forward ☆ keep the momentum going by focusing on manageable tasks
validate good work ☆ give yourself a little reward, or thank yourself, for completing hard tasks ☆ this reinforces motivation and encourages effort
remember--motivation isn't in a constant state, it ebbs and flows. these small tips will help to stay motivated. i'm going to provide more information in upcoming posts, and i will link them here once they are published.
luck on your journey ❤️

I’ve been very busy lately. I use Google calendar to plan my days, and you can literally see my whole week is filled to the brim. I barely get an hour of free time for myself every day. I don’t mind too much, because I enjoy my classes and the rest are co-curricular and club stuff. But, next semester, I need to remember to stop signing up for so much stuff :,)

Listen to me: You get good at things by being bad at them. You learn by failing. You gain competency and a sense of mastery by failing at something many times and in many interesting ways.
The sooner you are able to laugh at your own failures, to enjoy the process of messing up, the easier life will be. Because you'll no longer be afraid of learning.
And once you're no longer afraid of failing, you can learn anything.

I started going to the gym again and my mental health has been doing a lot better. I’m just enjoying uni a lot more. I’m having fun with my classes, and it’s nice to see my friends everyday. I need to remember to calm down and stop stressing over the small things.

It’s been such a long week. I finished a 10 hour first-aid course! I’m really glad I did it, but I didn’t expect it to be this long! Otherwise, I don’t think I would’ve done it. I can’t deny that it was useful though.
I’m tired and I just wanna go home, but I’m behind on work (because of that training) so I need to finish it. I’ll try to push through!

Random pieces of advice
The world is less scary and chaotic if you lie down on the floor
Noticing different kinds of light (stars, candles, sunshine or city lights) can bring back the feeling of wonder and hope
If you can’t shower, washing your hands and face will help you feel better and cleaner
If you can’t clean anything else, changing and/or washing your bedsheets can do wonders
Fresh air and being outside in general can help with depersonalisation
Spending time around animals can help you recognise what’s important and calm anxious thought cycles
Techniques for emotional regulation in children can really help adults too
Putting random asortment of food on a plate without creating an actual dish still counts as a meal
Drink something warm
Delete that app
Treat yourself as if you were a kid. Buy yourself a toy, play around, learn about cool new things
Fast paced life isn’t morally better and it’s not good for everyone
There is no good reason to keep yourself hungry
Singing to your full lung capacity can be a great way to let out built up emotion
Tension in the face can cause headaches. Try to massage your face regularly
Nothing is as important as your health
You are a whole person on your own, you don’t need someone else to be there to deserve love and attention. Your life can be full as long as you are present
You should cry things out whenever you feel like it
Slow walks are still movement and they do count
It’s never as bad as you imagine it
Try changing your toothpaste flavor if you hate brushing your teeth
Anything can be a stim toy - one of my favourites is a heavy dragon necklace that has a complicated surfice. It’s fun to touch and hold and it’s not even “actual” stim toy
Procrastinating and feeling bad about it is true waste of time. Learn to truly rest. It takes the same amount of time but it is useful
Sometimes you have to force yourself to do the things that make you feel better
Don’t trust the thoughts you have after not sleeping for a while
Friendships don’t have to be forever to mean something

There is so much to do and not enough time to get it all done! I swear I need more than 24 hours in a day. I love what I study and I love college, but sometimes it gets tiring.
On the bright side, I got a job offer!! It’s to be a part time tutor for high school students :) The pay is decent and the work is flexible, which is perfect for us college students. This will be the first job I’ve ever had, so it’s scary but also exciting!

Semester 1 has started! And I’m already tired lmaoo. I spent today at the library, just grinding out my work. Everything is already piling up.
I’ve been struggling with my linear algebra class. The lecturer is awful. I’m sorry, but it’s true. He’s such a smart guy, but he can’t teach. He tends to skip over the content quickly, because the answer is obvious to him. It’s not obvious to us, though! Anyways, I’m just really hoping I survive his class..

Some late night journaling while listening to sad music. This was actually very calming and therapeutic. It’s nice to have a little escape from the world from time to time

My exam for my software development class is tomorrow yikess. It’s a Sunday in my Timezone right now and I’m grinding out past exam questions. By the end of today, I should be able to finish everything I wanted to get done. Hopefully everything goes according to plan bahaha. This is actually such a great study spot though, despite everything

Another day spent studying at the library. Look at this nice view from the window at sunset :) My test is tomorrow and I’m nervous ahahah. I didn’t get as much work done as yesterday because I decided to go to the gym as well. That’s okay tho, I need to prioritise my physical and mental health too

I spent the whole day at the library again :,) Days like these can get exhausting but at the end of the day I’m always happy I did the work. For anyone else that’s struggling, remember hard work always pays off! Here I was going through and revising all of the content we covered

I’m preparing for my astronomy test next week. This class is easier than my others so I’ve been neglecting it slightly. But now that we have a test coming up I need to revise! I understand the content but struggle with making the info stick. Fun fact, I stayed on campus til 7pm today lol and I was exhausted

Semester 2 is passing by a lot quicker than semester 1! Soon my freshman year of college will be over and I don’t want to think about that yet haha. It’s gotten busy really quickly as well. I have 3 assignments due this week and 2 tests next week. Aaa I honestly don’t know how I’m gonna find the time to do everything. Here I’m working on my incredibly long maths assignment, which I wrote 8 pages of working for :,)

We’re 2 weeks into semester 2 now! It’s been going pretty smoothly. I’ve been enjoying the computer science course I picked up. If physics doesn’t work out, I’ll probably go into compsci! In this pic I’m going through some maths exercises we covered in lectures. Studying on campus at night is a whole vibe tbh
