Order of the Heart
Albus Dumbledore x Reader
You glance at the clock on your wall and nearly squeak. It is almost time for you to Apparate to 12 Grimmauld Place. You look down at your outfit, and you nervously press out any wrinkles you can find. You focus on the non-descript headquarters, and soon you are being pulled through space and time. You open your eyes to the chatter of 12 Grimmauld.
"Y/N!"
You turn to find Lily Potter coming towards you.
"Lily! How are you?"
The redhead engulfs you in an embrace.
"I've been well! How are you?"
"I've been okay! How is everything? How is James?"
She rolls her eyes. "A prat like always," she says, but she smiles.
"Of course," you laugh.
Out of the corner of your eye, you notice none other than Albus Dumbledore. His chestnut beard is sleek against his chin, and his coppery hair was ruffled in an attractive way. Your heart skips a beat in your chest, and you silently reprimand yourself. You watch as he talks to another member of the Order.
"Hello? Earth to Y/N?"
You blink and turn back to Lily to see that Sirius Black had joined you two.
"I'm sorry. What was that?"
Lily laughs. "Sirius was having a whole one sided conversation with you."
You glance at Sirius to find him mocking an angry face.
You laugh at him. "I'm sorry, Sirius. I was, er, distracted."
He rolls his eyes. "Of course you were. Wonder what you were distracted by, hmm?"
You feel your face heat up into a crimson color. "Shut it."
He glances in the direction you were looking previously.
"Don't tell me you have it for Dumbledore?"
You look at Albus once again, and you don't say anything.
Sirius chortles. "Of course you would have it for Dumbledore."
You glare at the man before Albus clears his throat loudly, and he begins the meeting. There is a lot that is said, and the meeting lasts hours. The meeting stops for a short meal break, and then you discuss even more strategies for opposing the Dark Lord.
"As mentioned in the owl sent to your homes under an alias," Albus continues later that night, "we have a lot to discuss, so we will be staying the night tonight. There are enough sleeping arrangements, and if there aren't, we can transfigure a few items."
You whisper urgently to Lily, "I didn't get an owl. What is he talking about?"
Lily leans in and says softly, "He sent owls to everyone feigning to be each other, such as a friendly stay the night, but once you ran your wand over it with our charm, it said there was much to discuss and that it was an all night affair."
You groan. It's bad enough you were so nervous to be here because you're infatuated with Albus, but now you have to stay the night with him?
It turns out, it's a claim-as-you-can type situation. There are no assigned sleeping arrangements. You claim a couch in the living room. Lily tries to argue that you can share a bed with her, but you kindly decline. You haven't slept in the same bed as her since Hogwarts, and that's been quite a while. You feel the time for friendly bed sharing has passed you.
You sigh as you climb onto the couch. You're exhausted from all the thinking and mental strategies that were discussed that day. You close your eyes and fall into an uneasy sleep.
You wake in what feels like minutes later to someone holding you and shushing you. You hear someone screaming, and you realize with a start that it is you. You gasp in sobs as your nightmare comes back to you. You cling to that unknown person for dear life until your sobs finally calm and subside. You finally look up to find the concerned blue eyes of Albus Dumbledore trained on your face.
"Y/N, are you okay?" he asks softly,
You mutely nod your head. He doesn't let go of you, but he shifts to see you fully.
"You had a nightmare. I came down to get water, and I noticed you were, uh, having a rough time. I hope you don't mind that I stepped in."
"You're okay," you croak. Your throat is dry from crying.
"Do you want me to let you go?"
"Please don't," you mutter.
He hums a noise, but he sits back with you curled in his arms.
"You had a nightmare? Do you want to talk about it?"
You shake your head. "It was the Dark Lord."
He makes a clicking noise. "You have nightmares about Voldemort?"
You flinch at the casual use of his name. You mutely nod your head to affirm.
"Oh Y/N, I'm so sorry. You're safe with me. I won't let you go."
The way that his concern shows in the soft way he murmurs your name makes your heart melt. Your nightmare made you forget that you are sitting in the man's arms that you adore.
"Uh, you can go to bed if you want. I don't want to keep you," you inform him. You want him to stay more than anything, but you don't want him to think of you as a burden.
"No, that's okay. I can stay here. Would you like me to stay with you?"
"Yes please."
You two sit in silence for a few moments, with you wrapped snugly in his arms.
"Y/N, why have we never spoken one on one? I feel like I always see you, but we have never spoken."
You laugh lightly. "I'm an awkward person. I tend to stay in my group or by myself."
"Well, can I be in that group? I want to get to know you. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel a connection here."
"You do?"
"Yes. Do you feel it, Y/N?"
"I have always felt drawn to you," you confess. "I have just been frightened at the thought of getting close."
"I see," he says before he tentatively runs his hand through your hair gently. "Are you frightened now?"
"Not at all."
"Y/N, do you have any plans for tomorrow evening after we adjourn the meeting officially?"
You shake your head. "I don't think so."
"Do you want some?" You can hear the smile in his voice.
"Sure." You smile to yourself.
"Alright, meet me on our couch whenever we adjourn, and we will go from there."
Your heart skips a beat at the word 'our'.
"Of course. Albus?"
"Yes, Y/N?"
"Thank you."
