Part 2 of 5
Summary: Desperate times call for desperate measures. You and Todoroki haven’t eaten since lunch. Luckily there’s a convenience store close by the school. Only, it’s way past curfew and the school is filled with villain-catching security.
Pairing: Todoroki x General Reader (Shinsou is here too)
Warning(s): moments of anxiety/overthinking, swearing, mention of food, 4th wall.
Note: The relationship between reader and Todoroki can be interpreted as platonic or romantic, whichever. This is for my readers who also just want a bestie in crime.
I’m not experienced in comedy 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
Silence was a virtue for you.
You were in the school building after a day of disaster. No, worse. Utter Failure.
Covered in soot, little cuts, and a broken pride.
Hatsume kicked you out to fix your suit.
You didn’t feel like heading back to the dorms and possibly getting teased for your incident. So stalling was your best friend at the moment.
The hallways were lit with an orange hue to the point you could see the little specks of dust floating in the light.
You could use a drink.
As if the universe heard your wish, you saw one of the provided vending machines in the distance.
Speed walking eagerly, you quickly stood in front of the machine, sought out the greatest drink mankind ever created and reached for your pocket.
Only to find that you have no change.
“Fuck.” You muttered.
It’s the last one too.
Why were you surprised?
Typical for a day like this.
“L/N?”
Your frustrated gaze found itself on a peppermint hair boy.
“Oh…hey Todoroki.”
He had his normal dead expression but seemed more relaxed than usual. He took a moment to observe you.
“Why are you still here?” He questioned.
You grimaced. You had no more energy to even socialize but you forced it.
“Tore my suit and praying that feral woman doesn’t try anything without me knowing.”
“I see.”
“What about you? I expected you to be at the dorms since we’re having soba for dinner.”
He took a moment to register.
“I forgot something so I went back to grab it.” His tone never changing.
And let his soba cool in the fridge. You chuckle in your head.
He looked at the machine behind you.
“Are you getting something?” He continued.
“Was. I didn’t bring change.”
“Here,” He pulled out some yen and inserted it into the slot.
An alarm rang in your brain.
“Woah woah woah wait! You don’t have to do that! Really it’s okay! Don’t waste your money!”
“It’s fine, my father has endured worse.” He calmly stated.
“Eh?”
He stepped back and waited for you to choose.
You took a moment to decide.
You really wanted this drink, and it’s the last one too.
Shyly, you pressed the button.
You ended up getting it after all with the cost of being embarrassed further.
“Thank you, you didn’t need to do that.”
“I saw what happened today.”
Fuck.
Your cheeks went hot. You’re even more embarrassed.
“Don’t worry, nobody else did. Just me.” He added.
“Well, that makes it a little better”
You opened your drink and chugged it down all at once.
This was truly what you needed, you thought.
The comforting taste washed your senses, blurring your day a bit. Taking a breath, you finished and threw the drink away. Until you saw the floor.
A dark color contrasting the bright hallway in your peripheral vision. The distorted shadows of yourself and Todoroki side by side. He noticed your sudden attention and looked as well.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Just…never seen my shadow like this.”
“You’ve never seen your shadow?”
“Of course I have, I mean- I like how lit and colorful the sunset is today, making our shadows more clear and well…defined? I don’t know, can’t explain it.”
He inspected the shadowed floor for a minute.
“I suppose. It does look better than usual.” He agreed.
Good job Y/N, shadows are a great convo.
A glimmer interrupted your thoughts, the way the orange hue hit the stray red and white strands of his hair as he inspected the shadow and window. Orange went well with his red scar, the scar you find bonny.
A perfect picture-like scene, fitting for the labeled “handsome” boy of 1-A.
Without thinking, you whipped out your phone and took a picture.
He didn’t notice until he heard a SNAP. His eyes widen, almost catlike.
“Y/N?”
“Sorry, but you looked great…I couldn’t help it.” You mumbled in slight embarrassment.
He blinked.
“…Can I see?”
You immediately showed him the picture.
While justifying yourself quickly, his face was hard to read. He was blank.
Todoroki tuned out your ramble and thought only two things.
He was perplexed.
…and amused.
Tumblr media
“So, what are you bringing? We need to be lightweight if we’re gonna do this mission. ” You insisted.
“Mission?” Shoto questioned as he hoisted his backpack.
You were texting Shinsou and scrolling through Tink Tonk for people who sneaked out before while waiting for Shoto. So far, nothing but videos of sneaking into a school instead of sneaking out one.
“Yeah, it’s kinda like a stealth mission don’t you think? It's more fun than stressful and I think it’d be some good training.”
“When you put it that way,” He pulled his hood up. “It is.”
“So, what are you bringing?”
“Nothing but money. I’m only bringing the bag because you’d probably want to fill it up.”
“Bring extra clothes, we’re gonna have to get dirty… Heh, that’s what she said.”
Shoto tilt his head.
“…Who?”
Oh, this sweet boy.
“Shinsou said he’ll text us if we need to come back. Our time limit is 5:00 AM. Most of the teachers will be up and about by 5:30 AM. Our insomniac teacher is most likely awake doing god-knows what so we need to watch out.”
Shoto crouched down to tie his laces then went towards you. Grabbing your hood, he hoisted it up covering your hair, tucking in the leftover stands.
“I’m thinking of climbing out the balcony.” You stated.
“Me too. The common room camera is too risky. Think your quirk can get us down?”
“My quirk has many uses Shoto,” You opened his closet and stuffed some clothes in his bag.
“Even after we get down, the gate is in front of the school. That’s the hard part.” He continued.
“It’s fine, the moon’s bright and I got it covered. We can use Google Earth and find a route to the gate.”
“Google Earth? Oh, that website. Smart. I’ll draw up a map.”
He took out a piece of paper from his desk and started scribbling. You spent a few minutes together looking for the shortest and safest path including backup ones. It proved to be difficult to not get lost in the simulation however you managed to find at least more than 5 routes. Including a very long one in case a safety precaution is needed, then Shoto estimated the amount of time taken for each route.
The shortest is 15 minutes, excluding the possible minutes you and Shoto would have to hide.
“We have to lean right. Close to the Beta Lockers but head straight when we get there,” he pointed to the map. “Then we use the forest to our advantage to pass the fountain.” Shoto explained.
“In the event that we have to split up?” You asked.
“Mm, If that happens then we meet up close to the fountain, and we don’t go until we find each other.”
“We can also share our locations to each other in the text app.” You suggested
“Good idea. I’ll silence my phone.”
You took a picture of the map and the spilt-hair boy stuffed it in his pocket, silently you turned off the lamp.
And the moonlight outside became the only light source.
The two of you stared at the open balcony. Or so, Shoto thought you were.
Instead you were looking at him.
Something about standing close to someone in the dark makes you appreciate the features that can be seen. Like the bright half of his hair, or rise and fall of his chest, or the little keychain on his bag.
And now, he was staring at you.
“Ready?”
You nodded.
“You know it.”
A second wasn’t wasted.
Quietly but swiftly, you used your quirk to climb down, leaving the doors open for easy entering.
For once you felt grateful for those climbing exercises. As you went down, you took note of your surroundings.
Kouda’s balcony. Filled with plants and growing carrots.
Mineta’s balcony. Empty. You made extra sure you covered your ears while climbing down
Shoto stuck close to you. You also made him cover his ears
Under a minute, your feet met the pavement. The crickets became louder yet still ignorable. Going near the building’s corner, your eyes met the glowing pathlight illuminating the way to the school building and rest of campus. Yet no one can be seen there. To your right was nothing but trees, exactly where you needed to go.
You took the lead, Shoto followed behind on guard. No Hound Dog or bots were visible. You didn’t plan on masking your scent until you got to the Beta Lockers.
For now, the two of you walked straight and leaned left. Tallest trees left and right, little pebbles under your favorite pair of shoes, a light breeze and humidity on your skin.
“I think you’re dramatic sometimes, Y/N. All of this just for snacks we could get after class?” Shoto began.
You look behind you in response.
“I think it’s worth it, you didn’t eat either.” you huffed.
“You distracted me from dinnertime.”
“No, don’t put this on me. You distracted me, with your cozy futon, nice laptop and amazing room-actually, you should do mine because I've been looking at Pinterest a lot recently and you’re the only beast that managed to transform a room faster than an interior designer.
“Hard work pays off”
“No kidding.” You jokily retorted.
“Either way, this is reckless.”
“Yet, you’re walking behind me.”
“I didn’t say I was opposed, I’m saying it’s reckless.”
“We can do this. I’m confident. We have Shinsou, a plan, back up routes, our phones, and our wild card. Literally. To be honest, this could be easier than the mock missions during training looking at it now. Way less complicated.”
“But this isn’t training, it’s us breaking the rules..”
“Says someone who didn’t think twice rescuing a kidnapped student despite being told not to. Oh and called a person with a dog quirk “a mutt”.
“…that was different-”
Every step let out the crunch of dead leaves, some didn’t, some had a pebble under it. Which made you wonder if you should start collecting some in case you need to distract someone.
“What did Shinsou want from the store?” Shoto continued.
“Not much, just some brand of iced coffee he likes and snacks that’ll last him the week.”
“Why didn’t he come with us then?”
“Let's say, it’s better that he stays in his cave right now. Hope you like being a delivery boy.”
He shrugged. “I guess this is payment for getting the card. It’s fair.”
Before you had time to reply, a wave of immense hunger struck you harder than truck-kun.
“This is what I get for skipping dinner.” You thought.
Shoto seemed to noticed.
“I think it’ll be faster if we run instead. The sooner the better.” he suggested.
“Yeah maybe. Let’s go.”
And thus began the semi-art of “red light and green light”, where the two of you would run as fast as you can then duck somewhere to listen, then you run more, and duck, all the while following the route carefully. (You were secretly racing Shoto)
Finally you turned left and kept going.
So far so good. At the speed you were going, it could be possible to make it in under 15 minutes.
So you picked up the pace.
Making sure not to trip over any twigs or rocks and letting the wind cool you.
You went faster, the trees and shrubbery that surrounded you became nothing but blurred colors swishing past you.
Shoto ran beside you, his eyes multitasking between what’s in front, under and behind him.
In the distance the two of you started to see a building peeking out of the forest. As well as a gap in the forest where a path to school resides. You saw it.
“The Beta lockers!”
Shoto tackled you into a bush.
Why he did it didn’t register instantly, but the pain sure did, he got off you immediately and looked around.
Just when you were about to cross the road, you thought.
You were going to scold him, but you heard it.
Footsteps, unusual footsteps.
Peeking your head with Shoto, darting your eyes left and right. A bouncy blue patrol hat caught your eye. Wearing it was a bot with a camera for a head a few yards from where you and Shoto are.
A security bot.
If you were being honest, this was your first encounter with a bot. You never saw them in the day eerily enough…
First encounter of the night, everything is going to plan.
It was oddly silent, moving but as if it was wandering with no purpose. Perhaps it was supposed to follow the road but somehow entered the forest? Eitherway, you knew how to handle the situation.
Ironically, you couldn’t find any pebbles. But who needs that when you have a human Katy Perry song?
“Sho.” you whispered.
His head turned to you.
“Make an ice ball.”
He understood.
Forming the ball, he squinted his eye at the bot and aimed his arm towards it.
You realized what he’s about to do.
“NO WAIT-''
The ball was already gone from his hand and so was everything you believed in.
CRACK
If you could describe his—or rather, both your faces in that moment,
it’d be the pikachu meme…
Tumblr media
In one of the hallways of the Heights Alliance lies the habitat of a nocturnal creature, surrounded by blankets, pillows and shadow. While aggressive to other creatures it is rather fond of the feline species.
The Shinsou rests and scrolls through his phone in search of entertainment, waiting for his delivery servi-
“I’m not a damn animal documentary.”
The fuck? Did I give you permission to break the 4th wall?
“I didn’t give you permission to describe me as you like and I guarantee that I’m taller than you. So, narrate correctly this time.”
Last time I checked, this fic wasn’t about you.
“Then why am I here?”
…content.
“Uh huh…”
You know what, fine. Rewind the fic.
Tumblr media
A bitch-faced boy sat idly on his b-
“Fine, keep acting like a child. Just tell the damn story”
Moving on, a peaceful night was in store for Shinsou back in the dorms. His sleeping routine wasn’t ideal like the others since they’re actual sleeping routines but he works with what he has.
But tonight was special. You see, he didn’t just send off his classmates for some regular coffee.
A few days ago, he heard rumors of some coffee brands that are apparently more effective than others, not in caffeine but in flavor. They described it as “the sophisticated taste made by the divines”.
Usually, the lilac boy doesn’t concern himself with murmurs of others until an acquaintance of his lets him have a taste of said coffee brand.
And my oh my, did his whole world change. He was very pleased to find that the brand was sold very close to school but many things prevented him from buying the whole stock, such as training, classmates, homework, family, pissing off Bakugou, the norm.
So when he found Y/N willing to sacrifice themself go out at night for a noble cause, he pondered, calculated and took his opportunity.
If that card gets lost, may God or whatever deity out there have mercy on his soul.
No, not God. Aizawa.
However, if they come back and succeed, then he’s looking at a week full of caffeine heaven. Without sharing.
His face may be tired but inside he was eager.
Tumblr media
“I thought you meant to destroy the bot!”
“I MEANT DISTRACT THE BOT! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO THROW THE BALL AWAY FROM IT!” You frantically but silently screamed.
“Shit!”
You both stand before the Beta Lockers. After the crack you grabbed Shoto by his collar and zoomed away from the scene. Sliding + hitting your knee on a rock.
The two of you expected to hear some sort of alarm …but it never came.
He destroyed it.
You took a deep breath and gathered your thoughts.
The bot got destroyed before it could send any signals or so you hope. For a UA bot, shouldn’t it have been sturdier? Whether a signal has been sent somewhere because a bot got destroyed is the question. A question you don’t have a plan or time for.
You’re gonna have to risk it.
Shoto kept his eyes on the way you both came from.
“Ok. Bad communication on my part. I’ll be clearer next time.” You panted.
“You can apologize later, just go.” He grunted.
“Right.”
The Beta Lockers. But where is the school?
A tree to your left looked accessible.
“Hey, mind climbing that tree and see where the school is?” You asked.
He nodded and got to work.
You watched from below how every step he took was with certainty. His dark figure got smaller, bits being illuminated by the moon.
You rested your palm on the concrete walls of the building. Cold, strong, and textured. So far only silence greeted you along with the scuffs of trees. Silence was a virtue. And an enemy.
One mistake.
THUMP
It’s fine.
THUMP
Heroes make mistakes, it’s fine.
THUMP THUMP
No one knows.
THUMP THUMP
SCUFFLE
No one knows.
THUMP THUMP THUMP
SCUFFLE
No one knows, no one knows, no one knows, everyone knows, EVERYONE KNOWS.
THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP-
“The school-“
You led out a little yelp.
Todoroki stiffened in slight surprise.
“Sorry…the school is exactly where we expected, we just need to lean left as we continue.”
He looked around again.
“We’re getting close the patrol route HoundDog takes. We should start putting dirt on ourselves. Leaves, branches, mud. The more we smell like nature the better.” He quietly stated.
Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Ancestors, Hekate, whatever, you really need to get a grip.
You nodded.
Crickets accompany the crunches of dead leaves and fallen twigs. A gentle rushing of water can be heard in the distance.
Your skin felt itchy from the ick but you did your best not to acknowledge it. It wasn’t much, only your clothes suffered.
Trying to wash it in secret is gonna be a pain.
You should be calm, very calm.
Except you weren’t.
Every step that got closer to the fountain only made your paranoia stronger.
He could be anywhere.
There’s a possibility that he already heard you.
That thought made you stop your breath. It was your anxiety talking again. And you hated it. Loathed it. You’re the one who wanted to become a hero. You’re the who came up with this whole thing. You can’t get anxiet-
“Let’s stop for bit.”
You stopped.
“Wha- why? We’re getting close.”
“We’re gonna make mistakes if we can’t think properly.” He responded.
Of course…he knows.
“We’re heros in training, we…I have to learn how to think properly in these situations.”
You continued to walk.
“3 minutes. We can spare 3 minutes.” He stayed.
“No I-
“Y/N.”
You let out a puff of breath.
“Ok fine! We can stop.” You quietly snapped.
You found a convenient log and slump on it.
“Now what?” You retorted.
He kneeled down to your eye level and lowered his tone.
“We’re okay Y/N…”
“…”
You averted your gaze.
“A siren or something would’ve already went off by now, we’re okay. I’m not great at comforting others but I’m here.”
“Shoto it’s fine-“
“Y/N.”
You grimaced at first, but soften. At the end of the day, he was the one who knew of your anxious thoughts. You knew others felt like this too, especially in lines of work where lives are involved. Except this isn’t training, it’s just skipping curfew to get snacks. You felt…silly. But Shoto didn’t judge, he’s blunt, not good with social cues or trends but he’s sincere. And unintentionally funny.
You sighed.
He kept looking at you for a response.
You nodded and closed your eyes.
A breeze’s lullaby.
An earthy scent.
A humid taste.
A cold hand’s touch.
Your eyes open to gazing silver ones.
HoundDog is near…

Again constructive criticism is welcomed. I had this in my drafts FOREVER and decided to might as well finish it. Please enjoy!

“Y/N, you’re blocking the view.”
The familiar monotone voice behind you doesn't catch your attention. Your eyes were glued to the show playing on the laptop. The futon was way more comfortable than you expected.
1:34 AM, a school night.
You decided to pay Shoto a visit and somehow never left. Not that he minds. In past conversations, he declared that he prefers to be with you because he felt content.
It’s a normal sight to see either of you entering each other’s dorms or sitting together in the common room or kicking each other’s asses during training (Kirishima is convinced one day that you’ll become a kebab but you ain’t weak lol). You’ve somehow gotten close to him since the beginning of the year, yet it wasn’t easy.
“Y/N.” He raised his voice a little higher, which finally got you.
“Oh, sorry” you quickly replied and moved. “This series is interesting.”
“It’s a genre you typically don’t watch.”
“You don’t watch this sort of stuff either”
“Mhm” he hummed.
The sliding doors to the balcony were open, letting the both of you have a peek at the forestry night. An occasional breeze would come in and the crickets chirped quieter tonight. The laptop was the only source of light in the room and started to strain your eyes.
Your head turned to Shoto’s dresser and onto the ikebana flowers on it. You’ve always admired it every time you came. Little drabbles of the day came to mind when you looked at it.
“Sero challenged me earlier.” you broke the silence.
“After the whole chips incident he declared that if he wins, I would have to buy any snack he requests for a week. But if I win, then he would have to do the same. Don’t know about you but I think-”
You turn your head to see the unconscious boy on the futon.
“What the fuck, Shoto.”
The blanket was under him. You can’t blame him though, Aizawa wasn’t merciful with the training regiment this morning. Still, you weren’t sleepy, or rather, you refuse to sleep.
Suddenly, familiar feeling that greets you too often.
GUUUUUUURGLE
You’re hungry.
Now this wouldn’t be a problem, if a certain red-haired boy didn’t devour the whole kitchen during dinner time. Leaving no leftovers for the rest of the class. You found this out the hard way.
So you brainstorm for a bit.
Asking people for food at this hour is pointless, you could ask Shinsou but it’s most likely that he would just eat it in front of you. You could cook but you didn’t feel like it.
So that leaves…getting it yourself.
Fortunately for you, there’s a convenience store very close to the school.
Unfortunately for you, in order to go there you would have to sneak past the prison fortress of what you call a school. Full of security bots, cameras, a lurking Hounddog, and a gate.
And who are you to not enjoy some adventure?
You crawled up to Shoto's face. You’ve always found it endearing because it’s like he’s at complete ease, without worry, without stress, without anything.
And it’s fun to disturb it.
You cupped his face and shook it a bit.
“Hey. Sho. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Wake up. Wake uuuuuup. Shotoooooo.”
He opened his eyes slightly in annoyance.
“Y/N, we need to sleep. We have school…” he grumbled.
“Let’s sneak out.” you confidently suggested.
His body rose from the dead, as he rubbed his groggy eyes and gazed into yours.
“What?”
“I’m hungry! There’s nothing in the kitchen so let’s go to the convenience store close by.”
He took a moment to process what came out of your mouth and began to adjust his sleeping position.
“We’ll get in trouble. Midoriya and Bakugo made everyone on high alert. You can sleep the hunger away till breakfast.”
He extended his arms towards you. However, you were persistent.
“Come on, I haven’t eaten anything since lunch. There’s no way I can sleep it off. The store is really close too.” You whined.
“Even if we tried, it would be difficult to not get caught. They added more security thanks to those two. It’s pointless.” He mumbled.
“You didn’t eat anything either.”
“Because you distracted me,” he quickly replied.
You shivered a bit from the breeze making him stand up to go close the doors. You watched from the floor.
“I’m going regardless,”
He stopped and stared as you closed the laptop and got off the futon.
“You can wait here. If anything happens, I’ll text you. I’m gonna go to my dorm and get some things. Be right back.” You added.
You didn’t let him reply or think. Immediately leaving the room, you went straight for the elevator, pressed the down button then waited, leaving you time to think of a plan.
All that was left were the dings of the elevator.
Maybe it is stupid.
There’s a lot of security making it almost impossible to enter AND leave. If a villain can’t get past it, what makes you think that you can? Plus, Hound Dog has an incredible sense of smell. To add to the fire, those two idiots had to spar after curfew, so everyone’s on extra guard.
There has to be a way though. Your stomach is depending on it. Like the saying goes, if there’s a will, there’s a way.
Finally, the doors slide open.
Tumblr media
The sounds of dripping water filled the silence. You decided that getting some water from the kitchen would be ideal.
You got everything you needed:
Your phone
The Hoodie you wear religiously
Money
Extra clothes
Backpack
Water bottle
You figured that you would have to mask your scent and blend in with your surroundings, which means rubbing dirt on yourself. So extra clothes are a must.
But your real problem is the gate. Using your student card will alert the other teachers, and going through without a card is impossible, so that leaves using an administration card, but there’s no way you could find one so easily. Even if you sneak through everything, the gate is almost a guaranteed bust.
Your eyes wandered to the small puddle in the sink. Your distorted reflection greets you.
DRIP
Food.
DRIP
You desperately need food.
DRIP
You need to get out.
DRIP
The convenience store has it all.
DRIP
Food.
DRIP
“Leaving so soon?”
The voice startled you, and before you was none other than Hitoshi Shinsou.
“Hey.” you quietly responded.
It’s not uncommon to see him come down during witch hours. The man never sleeps. He was in his casual pajamas, holding a dirty plate. From looking at the crumbs it could’ve been tonight’s dessert.
“Where are you going so late?” He asked.
Seems harmless to tell him, better to have at least one person looking out for you than a sleepy Shoto.
“I didn’t eat dinner so I’m going to the convenience store close by.”
His face looked as if he’d been running on 3 hours of sleep, nothing new of course. He lifted his eyebrow in response as if you said something stupid.
“You do know that UA is packed with security right?”
“Yes, I’m aware.” you grumbled.
“Then I assume you have a way past the entrance?” he added.
Nope. Your face said it all.
He tilted his head a bit and glanced at the sink.
“I’m good at stealth, so sneaking past the bots and Hound Dog won’t be a problem. The gate…ehh… I’ll find a way.” You quickly explain.
“And you’re going alone?”
“Well…I’m hoping that Shoto will come but I doubt it.”
He stared at you for a bit, doing his nervous habit of putting his hand behind his head, almost as if he’s pondering. Analyzing you.
The silence took over for the next few seconds.
“I know a way you can get out.” His gaze returned to you.
“But in one condition, well two actually. You get me some things there and Aizawa never finds out I gave this to you”
He reached for his pocket while he got closer to you.
Shifted to your height, and raised his hand directly to your face.
Finally seeing what he was talking about, you saw what lies between his fingers.
An administration card.
You stared in awe and pure confusion. Have the gods heard your wishes?
Wait…
“How do you have that?! DID YOU STEAL IT?!” you whispered.
“No. Sensei gave it to me to help with getting to school early and all that, but this stays between us. It has to be in my hands the moment you come back. So…don’t fuck this up for me.”
He gestured the card to you.
Hesitantly, you took it and inspected it.
Then you smirked.
“Know what you want then?”
Tumblr media
You felt a bit guilty leaving Shoto abruptly. His door was unlocked, so you didn’t bother knocking. He probably fell asleep so why annoy him more?
Turning the knob slowly you hoped to not make a disturbance. You only got a few hours to complete this mission before everyone wakes up. Shinsou gave you a piece of paper of the things he wanted, you’re paying of course. Closing the door slowly, you turned around to be greeted with a twist.
The lamp is lit.
The futon, neatly made.
The balcony, still open.
And Shoto on his knees rummaging through his backpack, dressed in dark clothes.
He noticed you for a moment and went back to his bag.
“I’m not letting you go alone, it’s reckless.” He finally spoke.
You couldn’t help but let out the biggest smile, and a sense of relief.
“Are you sure? If we do this and get caught, sensei won’t be happy.” You warned.
He smiled.
“Not the first time one of us did something reckless, is it?”
Always a valuable sight to see him smile.
“Well then…don’t need to worry about the gate anymore.” You informed him.
“What do you mean?” He tilt his head.
You showed him the card, changing his expression.
“Where did you get that Y/N?” His tone now stern and concern.
“Shinsou.” You wave the card. “I ran into him in the kitchen and told him what we’re doing. He only gave me this so that he can get some stuff too.”
“And why does he have an administration card?” Shoto continued.
“That’s classified. But he didn’t steal it if that’s what you're worried about. I’m supposed to give it right back when we’re done.”
He nodded with a deadpan expression. Then averted his eyes to the ground.
You couldn’t help but be really happy that you’re not going alone.
“Hey Shoto?”
“Hm?”
“Thanks”
He stayed silent but gave a nod.
His face was stoic but he felt endeared.
It reminded you of something.
You were walking to school when you saw Shoto in the distance invested on his phone, so as an honorary person of Shoto’s you thought that it was your duty to tackle him to the ground with a hug.
It backfired instantly.
You startled and activated his quirk which led to you becoming a popsicle. It wasn’t a fun time.
But it was okay, he felt extremely guilty after that. (He took you to an expensive restaurant.) That’s when you learned to always ask before hugging him (or tackle him).
Now it’s a lighthearted memory you cherish.
ZIP
You snapped back from your thoughts when you heard his bag close.
“What made you change your mind?” You pondered.
“Oh. I got hungry.”

Wedding Frights & Little Bites
Tumblr media
Summary: Wedding days are supposed to be perfect right?
Well, yours was absolute shit.
After getting help from your supposed mother-in-law to escape the wedding, you sought out to begin you’re new life. Until you meet a curious owl in a gas station.
Pairing: Bokuto x Reader (slow burn?)
Warnings: Reference to past abuse, emotional abuse, manipulative parents,
Note: (Reader is described with some feminine traits and a dress here but any gender can read.)
I wrote this a long time ago in a google doc but I never shared it with anyone so I figured it’s time. Any constructive criticism is welcomed. I’m not very experienced in writing.
Also reader doesn’t meet bokuto until a bit so hope you’re patient. Hope you enjoy ♥︎

Dear Y/N,
I’m sorry. I can’t do it. You’re not her.
_____________________
You quietly exhaled as the semi-crumpled paper was clenched in your delicate hands.
The sad excuse of an organ started to muffled despite how loud it echoed around the church. But to you, it just sounds like white noise.
Your hands started to tremble.
What. the. fuck?
You couldn’t believe it. He flaked out on you.
Your supposed fiance abandoned you, leaving you standing at this god-forsaken church, at this stupid rotting altar, at this damn wedding in front of everyone.
One of the bridesmaids quietly climbed the steps and ushered to your ear. “Madam… Apparently he slept with a fling of his and they both ran away. We have no idea where they’ve gone.”
Amazing. What did you expect? You were being forced to marry into a wealthy crest to uphold your family’s expectations and legacy. You dreaded this day since your father announced your engagement to a man whom you’ve only met 5 times in your whole life. Let’s just say your father didn’t take your response well. Then again, he always never took you well. To him, you were a way to expand the family riches and descendants.
He furrowed his brows at you from the aisles. The familiar glint in his eyes was there. He was livid. And your mother, you could tell from the way she was looking at the floor, she was disappointed. Your eyes drifted to the groom’s family. His father was screaming at the best man. Poor guy, he didn’t have a clue on what he did. He only stepped in the room.
But you couldn’t hear the screams. You only heard the white noise.
Then you look at the mother of the groom.
She had a blank face. It was as if she heard the white noise too.
If you were being honest, you were kind of relieved. It was a small feeling hidden deep, deep down your body before you stepped out of the limo. Maybe it may have been a plea for something to happen so you wouldn’t have to go through with the wedding. A hope. A hope that if there was at least one thing you could get, it would be this. It only dissipated significantly when the cold air kissed your cheeks when you entered the church.
The twists and turns in your head grew. It felt like something wanted to come out of your stomach. It was an icky feeling.
Then you realized. You were nauseous.
Immediately, you picked up your lacy gown and scampered down to the bathroom. But before you could make it past 6 aisles, your mother stopped you. At first, her mouth was moving but no words came out.
Then the white noise faded into a voice.
“-thinking! Where are you going?!”
“Please. I need to go to the restroom.”
“No you don’t. What you need is to go back and wait.” Your father abruptly stated.
You glared at him. You were reminded of the years he lectured of how it was your duty to uphold the legacy. The days of being forcibly locked in your room until you’ve finally “come to your senses” to how it is the right and only path.
How often you actually mention your passions and interests and it turns into an argument because they’re “pathetic hobbies with no meaning or future” The immense pressure on your shoulders you feel everyday you wake up. And the tears.
The tears that dripped on the glossy wooden floors. Yearning for freedom and control.
You had enough. You never wanted marriage. You wanted a future.
“Wait? For a groom who ran away and won’t come back? What’s the point of that? He clearly didn’t want this either!”
“It doesn’t matter what he wants! What matters is that we go through with the damn wedding. He’ll have to come back eventually. Get back there now.” he hissed.
“No.”
“No?”
His eyes dilated as if you had just destroyed something very valuable. He slowly crouched close to your face.
“What do you mean, no?”
“I’m done.”
Your shoulder bumped into his ferociously as you forced your way around him. You didn’t even spare him a second glance. Your destination was behind the rickety wooden doors just a few steps ahead of you.
Until.
“You walk through those doors, you were never my child. So if you know what’s good for you, you will climb up those stairs and wait.”
You halted.
What?
He actually said that. It never came across your mind that he would ever say that.
You. His eldest child.
His only child.
He’s not serious is he? What about all that talk of fulfilling your duties then? Were they nothing now? No.
You were his only way of gaining more money and control.
He needed you.
He was trying to threaten you into going back.
Not be his child anymore. Those words carried a feeling foriegn feeling to you. It wasn’t necessarily bad or good either. You heard it filling your head. It didn’t seem like a bad idea. But even then, he could be bluffing.
“So what’s it going to be, Y/N L/N?”
Tumblr media
The interior of the restroom was quite cramped. But it was quiet. You were staring at yourself through one of the dirty mirrors. The only thing that could be heard were the drops of water from the second sink. You couldn’t hear the mutters or whispers of anyone anymore. The walls shielded you from them regardless of how old they seem.
For an old church, couldn’t they at least clean up more? You could tell from the mold that they haven’t changed the wallpaper for decades.Your father wanted a speedy wedding so he chose the first place he could find. You lifted your hands from the sink and stared at them.
Your eyes traced the small smudges of ink left from the letter.
The shaking never stopped.
You looked around the room in an attempt to calm your nerves. 3 stalls, wet puddles, gray vintage walls, a frosted window, one working light, pipes on the walls that look like they’re going to fall, filthy mirrors, you. Before you took another cold breath, you heard the door creak.
Maybe it was your father.
“Mx. L/N?”
Definitely not. The voice sounded way too sweet to be your father.
You turned your head to see who it was. First thing you saw was gray. She had a gray suit on. From the clean fabric, you could tell it was expensive. Her long braided locks reached her knees. And her eyes were full of life. She had a particular golden pin that caught your attention, shaped like a lotus. It was beautiful. She was beautiful.
She was the groom’s mother.
What did she want? Did she ought to talk about her son with you? Was this your father’s attempt to get you back at the altar? But her eyes showed something else. Opportunity.
“Your father’s not in a great mood.”
“Listen, if your here to convince me to go back I don’t wa-”
“That’s not why I’m here.” she quickly interrupted.
She seemed panicked yet still graceful in a way. If that’s not what she came for, then what else is there? You couldn’t think of anything else, so you braced yourself for anything that could be worse.
“I want to help you. Please… I understand that seems a little forward considering that I’m supposed to be your mother-in-law but let me explain.”
Help? This seems too good to be true. It has to be a trap. Your father clearly bribed her into gaining your trust. Pathetic, that man would try anything. You can’t be left alone. She noticed the way your body tensed, then took a few steps towards you. You backed away.
“Right...sorry…” She took a moment to process. Perhaps thinking on what to say.
“Look, I’ll get straight to the point. I want to help you run away. Right now.” There was hesitation in her eyes but a glimpse of determination sparked from the way she looked at you.
“Why? Seems weird that the mother of the groom wants to help me leave.”
“Because I was in the same situation.”
“You were?”
“Mm hm”
Then, she knows how it feels.
“When I was your age, I was forced to marry the manchild you see screaming today. My family was poor, so when I caught the attention of a wealthy man, they pressured me into marrying him.”
“Why didn’t you say no if you didn’t want to?” You replied.
“I couldn’t. I wished for anything to ruin or stop the ceremony, but I felt so selfish... I only did it to help my family.”
“And they didn’t even ask what you wanted?”
She paused. Her eyes dropped to the ground. At first you thought you'd hit a nerve, but then her glossy lips curled into a small smile.
“Today may not have been his best day, but believe me when I say that my son’s a good man. He kept me sane through this whole marriage. I made sure to raise him right. And now I’m glad he chose for himself.”
She took another moment to stop. Her eyes glued onto yours. She reached her gentle brown hand towards yours. You didn’t reject it.
“You can choose for yourself too. You have something I didn’t. A chance. And I want to help, so you don’t make the same mistake I did. And from the way I saw your parents look at you, I don’t think you like living with them.” She chuckled.
“Even if I did leave, where would I go?” You asked.
“Anywhere. Just not here.” She calmly said.
Your mouth opened slightly but no words came out.
Even if you did leave, would you be ok? Run away, permanently?
How would you support yourself? If you spent your parent’s money, they would track you.
Where would you live?
What would you do?
Would you be free?
But you were so tired and didn’t want to know what would happen if you were to go back. This could be your chance. You will be free. You’ll find a way. You have already dealt with the worst from your family, nothing else can stop you. You can disappear. With help.
“How would you help me?” You mumbled.
“I can help you escape, leave the city, and give you money to have a head start. I can keep your family away from you. You would have my number, but they could track your phone. So maybe get a burner phone and call me when you’re safe. Though you would have to leave right now while everyone is distracted. It’s not the most smartest plan but-”
“Ok. I’ll do it”
She stopped, processing what’d you said. She probably convinced herself that you wouldn’t agree. Her smile was the warmest thing you’ve felt in forever. It was a little refreshing.
“Alright... So first thing’s first, we have to get you out of here.” She continued.
“I can’t go out the front door, they’ll hear me.”
“Right. We obviously can’t go through the main room too.”
“What if they try to find us while I’m escaping?” You asked.
“Don’t worry about that darling, I told them I was going to convince you to come back so that buys us time.” She assured you.
You two searched around the bathroom. 3 stalls, wet puddles, gray vintage walls, a frosted window… a frosted window with a lock.
“I could go through the window.” You suggested.
She hurried to the window and inspected it, and you followed. It happened to be one of those windows you pull up to open, with a turning lock. She attempted to pull with all of her strength but it wouldn’t budge then she turned the lock the other way and pulled again.
“Might be stuck or broken, it is a mighty old church after all.” She remarked.
“Give me a moment.” You responded.
Not wasting any time, you yanked on one of the corroded copper pipes and broke it off the wall. Some of the murky water stained your white dress. You didn’t mind though, you had plans for the dress afterwards. With all of your force (and pent up frustrations) you rammed the pipe onto the lock and kept hitting until you busted it.
Your partner didn’t say anything, only went to pull again. You hoped that no one heard the noise despite the walls blocking out the screams.
“I got it! Come help me.” A gap slid up. Just enough to fit your fingers in. You dropped the pipe and assisted.
You two heaved the bar until the gap was big enough to squirm though.
Tumblr media
“I’m getting to my limit, kid. I have to drop you off somewhere.” The Uber driver advised.
You glanced at the bright tablet near you.
7:27 p.m. About 3 hours have passed since you left. The sun was almost engulfed by the trees on the highway, soon you would be surrounded by complete darkness. You almost couldn’t see through the tinted windows. This was your third Uber, courtesy from the mother of the groom. Turns out her name was Eriela. A delightful name for a beautiful woman.
She gave you a piece of paper with her number and name on it, she even took your phone and smashed it too. It was for the best.
“Is there a motel or anything close by?” You quietly asked.
You were exhausted, all you were craving was something soft to knock out on. The driver looked at the GPS for a few moments.
“Says there’s a gas station a few miles ahead. Should be close to a town or something.”
“Take me there.”
“Alright then”
The previous drivers were a little hesitant to carry an almost newlywed out of the city but they were compliant. This one just didn’t care, or maybe didn’t want to ask in fear of irritating you.
After ten minutes you saw the lit up station in the distance. When the Uber finally stopped, you paid him the money Eriela gave you and stepped out.
You looked behind you as the car made a U-turn around the gas pumps and faded into the highway. The gas station was empty, no cars in sight. Just R&B music coming from the speakers above. The night radio must be on.
Then the reality settled in.
You’re far away from them. They don’t know where you are.
Your family aren’t rooms away where they can bother you.
You’ve disappeared.
It was a glorious feeling. Like a weight from your shoulders and chest being lifted and you can breathe again. A new beginning.
Eriela gave you almost all the money in her purse, you almost felt bad but she assured you that she had plenty to withdraw from the bank. A gas station should have some necessities right? And hopefully some clothes. And directions too.
Strolling into the store, you were greeted by a shocked man. You were too tired to care. You were only going to get what you needed, get some directions to a motel or something, then leave and burn the dress you’re wearing in a bonfire. Easy.
You grabbed a basket and searched around the store. Basic stuff like water, snacks, a map, sour patch kids, a bag (you were lucky to get the last one), a lighter, and other things. Unfortunately they didn’t have any T-shirts or clothes. Content with what you have, you’ve set the basket on the counter.
“That red pack of cigarettes please” You mumbled.
“But I can’t-”
You gave him a nasty look.
“Yes of course.” He quickly replied.
Smart man.
“Can you give me some directions to a motel or anything?”
“Uh sure… this station is close to a neighborhood but it’s not the most decent. There should be a small motel in it”
“Great. Where is it?”
“30 minutes straight ahead” He pointed to the road.
“On foot?”
“Y-yeah…”
It was better than nothing. Besides, it was only for the night.
“How much?”
“For the m-motel? It’s quite cheap.”
“No dumbass, the items.” You retorted.
“Oh uh… give me a second.” He then quickly scanned the items. You gathered all the cash in your hand. Wedding dresses should really have pockets… you grudegly thought. As you were about to pay, some yen slipped and fell on the floor. Your face scrounge up. Cursing under your breath, you crouched to retrieve them.
That was until another hand offered a coin.
“Woah! What happened to you? You must’ve had a fun day.”
The voice was so loud and clear. It had a certain gruffness while being so smooth. You raised your head to find the source of the sound.
Dark golden eyes seized your attention. They glistened from the ceiling lights and they felt warm. It was a guy, with the most wild hair you’d seen in awhile. Gray with black roots spiked up in every direction. His thick eyebrows were perked up in sight of you. It complimented his features. He sort of reminded you of a curious owl in a way. Though his clothes contrast with that wildness, gray shirt with long sleeves, black baggy pants and sneakers. Some very worn out sneakers.
He was cute.
“Are you oka-GYAH!”
He was an idiot.
He somehow slipped on the coins, but it made you chuckle a bit as he muttered some not so nice things.
“Are you okay?” You joked as you continued to pick up the rest of the money.
“It takes more than that to bring me down!” He doted.
“Uh huh”
The cashier just finished scanning the items when you stood up.
“That’s 2800 yen”
You quickly gave him the amount and transferred all your things into the cheap bag, except for the lighter and cigarettes. Before you took off, you checked on the guy to see if he was still whispering curses.
Instead of him on the floor, he was waiting impatiently for the register to scan his beer and pack of Little Bites. He had a little bounce on his leg as he waited, it was like watching a boy eager for his present. He noticed you staring at him, and gave a cheery smile. It ignited a tiny warm feeling in your chest and cheeks, it felt nice.
But you couldn’t stay, you had a long walk ahead of you. And besides, you had bigger things to worry about. The R&B music greeted your ears as the doors slid open. This time it was a familiar tune so you hummed along as you stride on the sidewalk of the highway. Your eyes took awhile to adjust to the blackness but you could pinpoint the streetlights in the horizon which helped.
And suddenly, you were left alone with your thoughts. You tried to recall the morning before all of the chaos but only blurred images came out. Perhaps the pressure blurred the memory. In a past life. You’d told yourself. It’s all dead and gone now.
Erelia must be pretty good at lying if the cops aren’t surrounding you by now.
You wondered what your family was doing for the final time, specifically your father. Abruptly before you could entertain the thought, faint sounds of a rustling bag caught your attention. Analyzing your surroundings, you braced yourself for sirens and flashing lights.
“Hey! Wait up! Wait for me!” Smooth with a certain gruffness to it.
You turned around and saw the spiked-hair boy running to you at full speed with his arms waving everywhere. You were convinced that he was going to crash into you. He had an excited expression from what you could tell. And if you were being honest.
You were kind of hoping that encounter at the gas station wouldn’t be the last.
When he finally caught up, he checked his bag to see if anything dropped. Hell, he didn’t look tired after sprinting, just a few breaths and he was good to go.
“You walk fast.” He remarked.
Well you do have a motel to reach before a murderer or robber approaches you in this unknown town. He didn’t look dangerous, sure he was big but he gave off gentle giant vibes. A clueless one.
“Did you need something?” You questioned.
“The motel.”
“Huh?”
“I heard you asking for directions to the neighborhood. I happened to live close by and know the place!” He confidently pointed to himself.
“Besides, you caught my eye. How did a cutie like you end up here?” He added and cocked a brow.
Aside from the flirting, it didn’t feel like a bad idea to tell him. He seemed genuine but then again you never know. He noticed your hesitation.
“I swear I’m not trying to get anything off of you, I just- you...well like I said you caught my attention.”
Well, life is full of risks… You continued walking and he followed by your side.
“What’s your name?” You replied.
He locked his eyes onto yours, then gave a small smile.
“Koutarou Bokuto”
Fitting name.
“Y/N L/N, nice to meet you. So Bokuto, do you want the full story or the short one?”
“Go ahead, we have a long walk.”
You took a cigarette from the pack and lifted it to your lips. He watched you patiently with his owl eyes. Ignoring it, you tried to turn on the lighter but the scroll was a little difficult. Must be a defective one. After multiple tries you started grumbling.
“Here, I got it.”
He took the lighter from your hand, and for a split second your skin came in contact with his. It was lively and gave you a tingly feeling around your body. It felt wonderful but as soon as he pulled his hand away, all that was left was a lingering effect. You didn’t want to let go.
After a few tries he finally got a spark and guided the flame to the cigarette. You blew a few puffs and let the nicotine flow into your head. Bokuto was still watching you, closely.
“Want one?” You offered.
“Nah, I’m more of a drinker.” He lifted his bag in proof.
“And a Little Bites fan.” You added.
“Hey! They’re good and you know it” He claimed
“You’re right, you’re right”
You blew out some more smoke and thought of what to say next.
“So… basically I ran away from my own wedding and family.”
“I gathered the wedding part” He commented.
And that’s where you started. As you told him about the whole day he listened and made some comments himself. Some were enough to make you laugh and everytime you did, he looked proud. You took in another puff of smoke and flicked bits of ash on the ground.
“And that’s how I got here. Fresh start, new life. And you bet your ass that I’m enjoying every second of it!” You gleefully finished.
“Damn, I say that’s cool but what are you going to do for money?”
“Mmm, I'll find something. Eriela said to give her a call when I’m safe and settled. I still have enough for a week or so.”
He was finishing his beer before it got warm. But he was right, eventually you have to find a way to make more money and a permanent place to stay.
You observed Bokuto as he jugged the bottle. When you two passed under a light, you were able to see specific details about him.
His sweater fitted him loosely, it was probably oversized but it made him look good. A receipt was stuffed into his pocket and from the clear plastic bag, the Little Bites were blueberry flavored. A drop of beer escaped from his lips and fell on his sweater. When he was done, he wiped his mouth with his sleeve.
“Want some?” he offered.
“Your spit’s all over it.”
“Oh right.”
“But I’ll take a Little Bite.” You appealed.
“No, they’re mine!”
“Come on, just one? I haven’t eaten for hours!”
“Yeah but you have all those snacks in your bag!”
“I’m saving them!”
“Nope!”
He clenched his bag and bolted.
“HEY!”
You immediately race after him but your shoes were not designed for running. What’s worse, he was fast. You swear that he could run in the Olympics if he wanted to. Thankfully, he stopped and waited for you under another light. When you caught up, he had the cheekiest smirk you ever seen.
“Oh ha ha, wipe that smile off your face! You’re lucky I’m in this stupid outfit anyways. But you’re so fast! What are you? A gym trainer or something?”
“Nooo, I’m a lifeguard!”
“A lifeguard? Oh god, how many people have drowned since you’ve joined?”
“HEY! I’m good at what I do!” He protested.
You snickered as he explained all the times he did his job. It was only 3 times.
“But seriously, just one muffin?” You gave him a pleading look.
“Fiiiiine. Just one but I get a bite out of your snacks.” He pouted.
“Deal.”
He gave you a pack to open and you let him search your bag to pick. You’d say it was worth it. You took another puff of smoke as you waited.
“You know my story, what’s yours? I don’t think you chose this area willingly. Or did you?” You questioned.
He zipped up your bag and looked at you with a stuffed mouth, then gulped. It looked pretty painful… then you both continued walking.
“I needed a place to stay while I saved up money.”
“For?”
“A beach house I got my eye on.”
“A beach house? You don’t seem like the type. Are you close?”
“I’m… getting there. At first I was roommates with my bud Akaashi but eventually he decided to get his own place. I couldn’t afford the rent by myself so I found someplace cheaper and I made sure that it had a good court nearby.”
Court? Is he into sports?
“Akaashi?”
“Yup! He’s my best friend! He’s also a bartender at a bar I like. He’s great if you don’t get on his bad side! We’ve been buddies for years!” He had that goofy smile again.
“Aw, that’s cute,” You added. “So you’re thinking of a secluded beach house?”
“No, just somewhere where there’s people too. That would be boring. Plus it’s close to Akaashi’s house and I can see him anytime. Though he’s always busy working and studying, it sucks!” That goofy smile turned into a pout in seconds.
“Sounds like he works hard. Good for him. And good on you for saving up.”
Upon hearing that, his eyes lit up.
“Yeah I’m pretty responsible aren’t I!” He proudly claimed.
God he’s so easy to please.
You two kept on walking in silence for a few minutes. Until.
“You’re pretty.”
“Hm?”
You turned your head to see him staring at you.
“You’re really pretty.”
A slight blush formed on his cheeks. There was something behind his eyes you couldn’t quite pinpoint. You felt your face heat up a bit.
“Thanks. Though I would prefer to be in comfy pajamas right now.”
He was lovely. If you could stare at those dark honey eyes forever you would. They were beautiful under any light.
“There’s this thrift shop that has some decent clothes. But they’re closed right now” He suggested.
“Kinda figured. Guess I’m sleeping naked.”
That comment alone made him blush a bit more. You gave him a side eyed smirk.
“You don’t have a phone?” He asked.
“I had to break it so I wouldn’t be tracked. I’m hoping the motel would have a phone. But if I’m telling the truth…”
He perked up.
“I’m a little scared to call anyone in that matter. My family might already know where I am. It’s terrifying. I don’t want to go back. Starting new is fresh air I never had, I was always suffocating at home. If you’d even call it that.”
“Well, let me be the first to welcome you to your new life.”
“Thank you.” You gave him a smile.
He stayed quiet for a moment which concerned you. As you were about to say something he opened his mouth.
“If you need a place to stay, you can stay with me”
“No thanks.”
“What?! Why? I promise I’m a good roommate!”
“You’re a nice guy Bokuto but I just met you. I can’t stay with a guy I just met.”
Even if he’s stunning and friendly.
“Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Sorry.” He was disappointed enough that his spikes drooped. Only he was capable of doing that.
“Don’t apologize, you were only being nice. Maybe if we were better friends (or lovers) I would’ve said yes.”
Lovers. When that word came around, you would always avoid it due to circumstances. But with him, you felt okay with it. You wouldn’t mind actually.
“Are we friends?” He asked.
“I would like that” You admitted.
His lips curled into the biggest smile you’d seen from him, and that says a lot. His hair straightened up magically and suddenly he was a happy peppy boy.
Did he really like you that much to have that reaction? Nevertheless, you weren’t complaining. You felt pretty joyful too, meeting Ereila and Bokuto was a good thing you needed after everything.
“Here, have another.” He gave you another pack of Little Bites. Just for you.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah! I don’t mind. You said you didn’t eat for hours.”
What did you do to be graced with a sweet guy like him?
You two talked and walked until you saw a couple of houses in the distance. Finally, all you had to do was find the motel. With Bokuto, it should be a piece of cake.
“Yes! We’ve made it! I don’t know about you but I would love a soft bed right about now. Now where is it?”
“All I know is that it’s in the neighborhood but I don’t know where exactly.”
Well, you’re fucked.
Tumblr media
The feeling of soft sheets and pillows never felt so heavenly before. You let out a giant sigh as you stretched out your arms and legs. You could fall asleep right then and there if you wanted to...
“Woah! It looks so much better since the new owner came!”
…If a certain giant owl wasn’t here.
“That sweet woman wasn’t the original owner?”
“No, I think the last one retired. Or moved away. Dunno.” Bokuto mumbled.
The small room had a vintage theme to it. Classic two beds with yellow patterned blankets, a round table in the corner, a closet, paintings on the walls, small dresser with a box TV, huge window with yellow curtains, blinds, lovely carpet and a door leading to the bathroom. It was pretty clean, props to the new owner.
You sat up and looked at Bokuto. He was exploring the room and inspecting it. You giggled at his childish face. Then you had a realization.
“Bokuto?”
“Hm?” He turned his gaze at you
“You said you lived close by right?”
“Yeah? Like about 15 minutes away.”
“Wouldn’t there be a convenience store closer than the gas station then?”
“Yeah.”
“Then why go through the trouble of walking 45 minutes for two items that you can get somewhere closer?”
“Sometimes I like to go to the gas station at night and clear my head. It just happened to be one of those nights.” He explained with a small smile.
“Do you walk to work?”
“No, my friend Kuroo drops me off before he goes to his job.” He shared.
Makes sense. Everyone needs time for themselves, but makes you wonder… did something happen?
He kept exploring the room, making his way to the bathroom. Pretty soon he has to leave so you can sleep. You also had to call Eriela soon, assuming she’s not busy or asleep yet.
You got off the bed and searched the closet. There was a single robe, it was better than nothing. You’d also assumed that the bathroom had towels.
“Hey L/N?” Bokuto called from behind.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
He paused for a moment getting his words.
“Do you want to go to that thrift store with me tomorrow? We can get some clothes and we can... stop by my house. I think I got some shirts I don’t need anymore so maybe you can have them.”
It was as if he was at the gas station again. Bouncing his leg and eagerly waiting for your response. And how could you say no to that face? You needed clothes anyways, and the thought of wearing his shirts wasn’t something you were against.
“I would love to.”
“Really? ALRIGHT!” He raised his fist in celebration.
You couldn’t help but smile with him. You felt the joy radiating out of him.
“Though I don’t think shopping in a wedding dress is normal.” You stated.
“I can bring you something to wear for the day!”
“Ok then, what time?”
“9:30!”
“Are you trying to exhaust me?! That’s too early!” You exclaimed.
“Fine, 10:30!”
“How about 11:00?”
“Ok!”
“You’ll bring my clothes at 11:00. I’ll get changed and we can go. Maybe we can grab breakfast too.” You added.
That only caused his smile to beam.
“God, you’re so cute”
He stopped in his tracks and stared at you with a surprised face.
Oh shit I wasn’t supposed to say that.
Those eyes. How they took your breath away everytime. Your face instantly felt hot so you looked away.
“Well, I got to take a shower, call Eriela and go to bed...”
You tried to break the ice.
“It was really nice meeting you Bokuto. I honestly needed to get some things off my chest and you’re really sweet.” You continued.
He kept staring at you but it wasn’t a piercing gaze. It felt soft and...loving?
“Can I give you my number?” He finally said.
“Good idea. Let me get a piece of paper and a pen.”
There was a pen on the table but no paper in sight. You considered using a paper towel until the sounds of crumpling paper caught your attention.
You turned to see Bokuto taking out the receipt he had in his pocket and grabbed the pen. Scribbling sounds followed. Better than a paper towel at least. After he wrote the last number, he gestured the receipt to you which you were happy to accept.
Bokuto
XXX-XXX-XXXX
“You can call me Bo by the way.” He insisted.
You wished you still had your phone. You wished that you weren't tired. You wished that tomorrow was here.
The warm feeling in your chest came back but a little stronger this time. It didn’t feel good either. You didn’t want him to leave.
But he had a home to get back to.
“Goodnight Bo!”
“Goodnight L/N!”
He opened and walked out the door, but before he left he turned his body towards you.
“I’ll be back okay? And I could show you around town! We can stop by the bar and I’ll introduce you to Akaashi!”
“Yeah!” You agreed.
As you watched him go down the stairs, you stopped thinking about the events that took place in the past and instead imagined tomorrow.
Seeing him again and exploring your new life. Finally choosing for yourself. Eating breakfast with him, meeting Akaashi and Kuroo, getting new clothes (specifically his shirts). You were excited.
You loved your new life already.
But, you know what’s the best part?
You snapped out of your thoughts to find yourself laying on a navy striped hammock with blueberry Little Bites on your lap. It was a quiet afternoon.
You glanced at your favorite picture of Ereila with her new grandson on the glass table, it always made you smile. The crashes of the ocean waves comforted your ears but the next sound gave you more joy than anything could.
“Hey Hey Hey Baby! I’m ba-GAHHH!”
The noises of Bo colliding into god-knows-what-this-time was something you were quite familiar with.
God, he’s an idiot.
But that’s okay, you wouldn’t have changed anything in the world, if it meant you’d still meet him that night 3 years ago. You found home, and it was Koutarou. ♥︎
