Okay, I see a lot of Mal hate and Darkling love. Do you all not realize the whole purpose of this love triangle? Mal was the human half of Alina and the Darkling represented the power. She had to chose a lifetime of constantly lusting power and total submission to the Darkling in return for his love. Those were his conditions. Mal loved Alina and, yes, he did say some questionable things about her power, but the thing is HE WAS RIGHT. She wasn’t the same person because her power was corrupting her. THAT WAS THE ENTIRE THEME OF THE SERIES. Mal represented her humanity and when Alina chose him she chose to become human because she chose love over power. The Darkling was TOXIC for Alina and represented absolutely EVERYTHING about toxic love. If you’re arguing for the Darkling and Alina then you missed the entire fucking point of the series to begin with and I heavily advise you re-read it.
