Alec and Clary hating each other's guts in cob is iconic & funny but what makes it so much funnier is how quickly they get over it. by the epilogue they're both like "I feel so bad about all the mean & completely untrue things I said to you and for being really shitty/shoving you against a wall/nearly causing you to die :( im so sorry. anyway, let's never tell Jace any of this k?" and then proceeded to never acknowledge any of it again. by coa it's like it never happened at all. like it doesn't even get a mention in their inner monologues or anything. the one time it does come up is in tftsa due to Simon's incomplete memories & him being under the impression Alec doesn't like Clary. and when he brings it up to Alec his immediate response is this

It's a tragedy that the new book is called The Sunshine Court, because tsc was supposed to be the Shadowhunters tag 😔

random tsc facts
aline, jace, jocelyn, valentine, robert, and maryse most likely all speak with a faint swiss-french accent because of the position of idris.
only three characters have eyes specifically described as ‘black’: sebastian, valentine, and isabelle.
idris’s drinking age is fifteen, similar to its european neighbours.
jem/brother zachariah has the most unique book appearances, second only to magnus.
simon’s mom thinks isabelle is a tattoo artist.
early copies of city of ashes state that daniel is maia’s twin brother, not her older brother.
the seelie queen is present in every main tsc book apart from city of bones and the infernal devices.
isabelle and simon are the only ‘main’ tsc pairing without a sex scene.
isabelle, tessa, and sophie are all the same height (5’9”, or 175cm).
maia, by virtue of her BA in business management, is the only shadowhunger chronicles character with any formal qualification.
the lightwoods and herondales pass down heirlooms through opposite lines. the ruby necklace is only given to daughters; the birthmark only appears on men.
tessa is more closely related to jace than she is to kit, or than jace and kit are to each other.
consuls can only serve ten year terms.
the government structure of idris parallels the three branches of government: consul (executive), council (legislative), and clave (judiciary).
the inquisitor is more powerful than the consul.
the accords were re-signed in early 2007.
all of the mortal instruments takes place in the span of four months.
both maryse and jocelyn were pregnant at the time of the uprising (maryse with isabelle, jocelyn with clary).
bat is the pandemonium dj in city of bones, and the ‘curvy girl’ that glares at clary in the queue is maia.
clary is a fan of the doors.
most of the seelie/unseelie lore is inspired by holly black’s ‘tithe’ series; her characters also make small cameos, and there is a crossover short story.
isabelle sleeps in a pink peignoir set.
the short story ‘the voicemail of magnus bane’ suggests that there are portraits of gabriel lightwood in the new york institute.
the lightwoods were most likely imprisoned in the new york institute because they were involved in the slaughter of the whitelaws, who had historically retained guardianship.
ragnor does not glamour his green skin.
magnus was originally intended to be a minor character.
an early draft of city of glass has jace purposefully trading simon to the clave instead of by accident. it was changed because it made him seem ‘too manipulative’.
the original prologue of city of bones was from jace’s point of view.
although the queen of air and darkness bonus short story suggests that jace doesn’t know what a minivan is, he previously mocked simon for driving one in city of bones, and even rode in it.
the fact that both the new york and the los angeles institutes have to conceal their internet access suggests that it might be illegal for shadowhunters to use it, hence jace not knowing what ebay is.
isabelle has stated several times that she wanted alec and magnus to have a fall-themed wedding.
alec is arachnophobic, but isabelle isn’t.
isabelle’s vision in city of heavenly fire shows that she plans on cutting her hair shorter in the future, just like aline did - implying that long hair is a beauty standard for shadowhunter women.
clary foreshadows the plot of the infernal devices in city of glass, stating that sebastian reminded her ‘of a dark prince who was cursed to have everyone he loved die’.
clary also directly foreshadows the cold peace by complaining that the only downworlder she can’t decide on a symbol for (for the new council members) are the fey.
all three of the men that alec has been shown to be attracted to not only have golden eyes, but also speak multiple languages - raphael is bilingual, jace is proficient in both ancient and modern languages (including italian), and magnus is a polyglot. this is in contrast to alec being light-eyed, and struggling with languages.

Sword gays showdown, losers bracket (Round 1)
Propaganda:
For Magnus Chase:
His sword talks and sings great parodies of pop songs. Magnus also refuses sword lessons even knowing it may cost him his life, he does this because he feels awkward for taking so long to get lessons. King move, Magnus
Has a talking sword named jack!!!! Is Pan!!! also is dead!!!
For Frye:
She’s so cool.. canonically a bandit and criminal, pop star, and uses a sword that was a windshield wiper before the apocalypse!! Very cool and gay. Walking enby flag (unless in an alt colour.. which is most of the official art).

“When you love the Doctor, it's like loving the stars themselves. You don't expect a sunset to admire you back. And if I happen to find myself in danger, let me tell you, the Doctor is not stupid enough, or sentimental enough, and he is certainly not in love enough to find himself standing in it with me!” -River Song (Doctor Who: The Husbands of River Song)
Inspired by this post by @ibenology
My rambling about this below 😎👍
These three pairings actually hurt me in how similar they are, not to mention how River’s quote here could apply to both Hob and Mobius as well as of course- herself. The three of them(River, Hob, and Mobius) all fall for this seemingly timeless ethereal being; the sunset that they don’t expect to admire them back.
But the quote I referenced above is shortly followed by The Doctor revealing that he’s been next to River this whole time, and that can kind of tie into both Morpheus and Loki in how they admire their partner back in their own repressed way. River, Hob, and Mobius are all under this assumption that there’s no way that their affection will be reciprocated, but they don’t realize that The Doctor, Morpheus, and Loki have been by their side through it all and it just- UGH. THE PARALLELS BREAK ME.
Anyways, if you can’t tell I’m not used to drawing real people but I did my best to make them look like the actual actors while somewhat retaining my art style 💀

LGBTQ+ Disabled Characters Showdown Round 1, Wave 6, Poll 14
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A character being totally canon LGBTQ+ and disabled was not required to be in this competition. Please check qualifications and propaganda before asking why a character is included.
Check out the other polls in this wave and prior here.
Zhou Zishu-Word of Honor / Shan He Ling
Qualifications:
He might not count but I wanted to submit just in case. So in order to leave an assassination organization, he has to basically give himself a terminal condition that slowly destroys him over time, killing him after 3 years. So his ability/power is severely limited which is a big hindrance because he only has the strength to fight for a short while before his condition flares up. And over the course of the show he also looses some of his senses. He looses his sense of taste and smell and his ability to feel pain is significantly lost. The reason why it might not count is that they figure out how to cure him at the very end, but he spends the vast majority of the show suffering from this condition.
Propaganda:
He and his soulmate/husband are iconic. War criminal duo. They're both mass murderers who want to settle down with a nice domestic life with their adopted son. He's also got amazing gender. The show also has some interesting things to say about chronic/terminal illness
Val Palafox-Venom and Vow
Qualifications:
He is canonically bigender (uses he/she pronouns) and uses a cane due to congenital disability.
Propaganda:
Val is a bigender assassin/princess's handmaiden who's trying to defeat the guy she thinks laid a long sleeping enchantment over both their parents (among other people), so that she can reunite with her father and theoretically come out to him. So Val embarks on this harebrained scheme to outmaneuver this guy via two different identities (Val has a male persona and a female persona that he keeps separate). It's complicated but also very funny to me, given that the other guy thinks Val cast the curse, but doesn't want to hurt him out of trans solidarity. Bonus that she's perfectly good at fighting while using her cane, but has no idea how to dance with it.
Anything Else?:
This is an act of blatant defiance against your wishes for less obscure media, and I do apologize, but I have no regrets here.
Mod note: lol don’t even worry we submitted a few obscure characters ourselves.

Round 3, Match 8: Roy Mustang vs. Rune Saint John
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Roy Mustang: Edward and Alphonse Elric
Rune Saint John: Max Saint John, Quinn Saint Nicholas, Layne Dawncreek, Annawan Dawncreek, Corbitant Dawncreek
Propaganda under the cut!
Roy Mustang:
1. “This pathetic cringefail loser of a man managed to raise and guide two traumatized children into becoming well-adjusted adults. He also gets bonus points because those kids end up saving the world from disaster.
Also he's hot sometimes”
2. “He has two(2) sons!!!!! Weird little traumatized children!!!! He's also soooo dad shaped(a mass murderer)!!!! He such a loser too!! I love him so much I wanna chew on him <3”
3. “ok i'm not into fma buts its a popular source and my oomfs r into it and i hear a lot about them. like top five things i hear about whenever i hear them talk about fma. hashtag war criminal family swag”
Rune Saint John:
“Oh my god, oh lord where do I start. Within the FIRST CHAPTER of the FIRST BOOK he accidentally adopts a teenager in exchange for a magical artifact during a deal with a fae- this teen is Max! He then later adopts Quinn, whos older brother he is dating. Then he adopts the three Dawncreek children after a series of events in the second book that i wont get into due to plot spoilers, but it was ✨traumatic✨ AND the author had confirmed that there will be ANOTHER kid joining his found family in the upcoming 4th book. Rune is the chosen one, there are MANY prophecies about him, to the point that Quinn; who has the ability to see future probabilities, finds it difficult to look at him. He experienced horrific sexual assault, and he just wants to be a decent person and look after these traumatized magic children. Every member of his found family is a chaos gremlin- including Rune. Honestly this book series is so so very near and dear to my heart, and it handles topics like grooming and assault with incredible tact and care and more people should read about Rune and his queer disaster found family.”
