It was hard to look at the bigger picture when Umbridge was firing Trelawney and making a spectacle of it.
Fortunately, Dumbledore was a bigger drama queen, and walked in with a buff, handsome, and very nude centaur to save the day.

“Who’s your favourite March sister? I need to know”. Sirius already knew James’ was Jo, like his, and Peter’s was Beth. “Meg” Remus replied.
“It makes so much sense” Sirius commented, turning to his right side to look at him. “You’ve always resembled her, in my opinion”.
“Yours is Jo, isn’t it?”.
“Yes” Remus didn’t notice his bitter smile, too focused on the novel: Regulus had asked his brother the exact same question years before, after he’d finished reading the novel. Amy used to be his beloved. Sirius bet she still was. And it hurt to know that. Because to his question why she out of the four of them, Regulus had answered: ‘ Because she’s always the second choice ’.

“You know I had always assumed dear cousin Bella would be the first one to go to Azkaban.”
Great. One week in and he was already hearing the voices of people who have been dead for 2 years.
“Oh come on Sirius don’t tell me Azkaban broke your brain in less than a week.”
Sirius had almost forgotten how insulting Regulus could be when he put his mind to it. Sometime after his death he had forgotten - can’t speak ill of the dead and all but Azkaban really seemed intent on not letting him sulk in peace
“And you called me the soft one.” Sirius opens his eyes, annoyed, prepared to roll his eyes at thin air when he actually laid eyes on Regulus. He looked older, finally having grown in his regal futures yet he also looked more cut up and bruised, hair longer and wilder than would ever be appropriate for the most noble and ancient house of Black.
Great. He was visually hallucinating too. “Serves me right that I can only properly remember how you look like in literal hell.”
Not- Regulus snorts. “Oh this is pathetic. Are you really so far gone you can’t tell I’m real?”
Sirius raises an eyebrow. “Fuck off. You’ve been dead for almost 2 years.”
“Aw. You do care about me.”
Sirius bristles, the familiar annoyance raising up in him. “Fine then if you’re so real prove it.”
At that Regulus laughs, loudly. “Sirius, you can literally turn into a fucking dog. Your mind might be lying to you but your animagus? It’s impossible.”
Sirius stares shocked. Regulus shouldn’t have known that. Only three people did. “How the fuck do you know that?”
Regulus stares at him, expression unreadable. “I kept tabs on you too you know.” He swallows and looks away.
Sirius blinks the sudden tears away. Regulus had always been too smart for his own good.
He didn’t need to turn into padfoot - Regulus had always been the only person who could make him feel this way.
“Well?”
Sirius blinks. “Well what?”
Regulus rolls his eyes. “Turn into your animagus form so that we can leave this place. I don’t know about you but this isn’t my type of vacation.”
“Leave?”
Regulus just stares at him incredulously. “You’re telling me you haven’t tried?”
Sirius feels chastised. “Well the war is over -“
Regulus cuts in. “So you fancied staying in Azkaban? When we have things to do?”
Sirius feels very unprepared for the conversation. “What things?”
Regulus ‘s smile is all teeth. “Killing Dumbledore and Voldemort for good.”

"She's got as much a chance of that happening as the Canons winning their next match."
Grace's grin was wolfish as she turned to Teddy. "And what do you say to that, Magic 8 Ball?"
Teddy didn't rise to the bait and continued to stare into his teacup, turning it slowly as he inspected the dregs at the bottom.
"See anything good?" Grace asked, nudging him gently.
"Yes. It says you're a muppet who refuses to learn what a Seer actually does," Teddy replied drily.

No, Grandfather, I don't want you to die. It's true that we don't always see eye to eye, but I care about you." Sirius felt his chest ache. "The thought of you dying is just as unbearable to me." This was the first time he had ever told his grandfather how much he cared outright.
"But then why aren't you pushing for it like the way Harry does?" Arcturus asked.
"I think," Sirius reasoned, "every wizard should have a choice on how they want their life to end. If you think that taking the cure is not what you want for yourself, then I cannot do anything about it, Grandfather. You are the only one who could fight for your own life."

Look, the difference between girlfriend and girl-friend is that little space in between called the friendzone," Narcissa started. "C'mon Regulus, and pay attention as I tell you how to get out of this awful, horrifying zone that you happen to be struck in now."

“I think,” Firenze replied gently, “that the stars may guide us. Ultimately, however, we are the masters of our own fate, for the spark from the cosmos that we carry within us, our souls, are equal in weight to the brightest of stars.”

Day 29 - Prompt: Ticket @jegulus-microfic
December Daily Series - 497 words
<<<Previous Part OR Start Here
Sirius shot a narrow-eyed look at Regulus. “I know you don’t do casual shite, and James doesn’t usually either. He’s a romantic, tends to fall a little in love with everyone that he fancies.”
“That is not reassuring. I can’t date someone who falls for everyone. I’m not making that mistake again,” Regulus insisted.
“Not like that! I meant he cares about everyone he’s involved with. He’s loyal as fuck, don’t get it twisted.”
Regulus hummed noncommittally as he joined Sirius on the pavement. The walk back to the Inn wasn’t long, but the silence between them made it feel endless. He was relieved to see James waiting for them as they rounded the last corner, if only to distract him for a while.
“Hey! Are you done bonding already?” he teased, striding toward them.
Sirius smirked at Regulus, then shrugged. “Might have overdone it. I think he’s sick of me, actually.”
“Correct.”
Regulus jostled his bag higher on his shoulder and rubbed reflexively at the sore spot it was creating. Before he had time to react, James lifted the bag from Regulus’s shoulder without a word and transferred it to his own. As he matched their pace, James massaged that sore spot firmly with his thumb. The combination of the heat from his hands and firm pressure eased every muscle in his upper body. If James was looking for the lucky ticket into Regulus’s pants, he found it.
“Impossible! You are a delight,” James replied, winking at Sirius. “Here I thought I’d have to bribe Padfoot to create a distraction just to sneak him away.”
“Unnecessary, you can have him,” Regulus snarked, waving dismissively at his brother.
James laughed and shook his head. “I meant you.”
Regulus tried to ignore the rush of heat in his cheeks and looked away. He was glad to hear it, even if it was a little difficult to accept. It felt like a daydream, like a fantasy that he’d wake up from any minute. James couldn’t be real.
“In that case, I’m going to take Pads for a walk,” Sirius announced, reaching for Regulus’s bag. As he added it to his own, he wriggled his eyebrows at Regulus. “You two have fun.”
“Shut it, Sirius. You’re a terrible wingman.”
“How’s this? James, you have my permission to snog my brother senseless.”
Regulus huffed, shooing him away. “No one needs your permission! Piss off already.”
As soon as Sirius strolled inside the Inn, James linked their hands together and raised them. Regulus’s mouth went dry as he watched those soft pink lips skim his knuckles. It was a ridiculously sweet gesture. Until James met his gaze and placed an open-mouthed kiss on the two fingers Regulus shoved into his mouth yesterday. A tingling feeling raced down his arm as James’s warm breath tickled his frigid skin. He was tempted to press those fingers inside, where they belonged. It was hard to ignore, even though they stood in a rather public walkway.

I would prefer to be involved at every stage.” Obi-Wan’s voice came out more than slightly waspish.
Anakin rolled his eyes, and popped the last of the candy in his mouth, speaking with his mouth full. “You would, you micromanaging busybody.”
“Excuse me?” Obi-Wan snapped, crossing the hold to stand closer. “Care to repeat that?”
“No, you heard me just fine.” Obi-Wan glared at him, and Anakin smiled winningly, sliding down from the water canister and moving to sit beside his R2 droid.

Regulus winced, not doubting that his back bruised after that. This is why Frank is the better Longbottom! Alice never realize that she has gorrilla strength and never afraid to use it to Regulus, the man that scoffed for any physical activities. While Alice has six pack, Regulus has crippling depression and anxiety.

James’ expression was… intense when Regulus looked back at him.  “Can this be a date?  We had a whole meet cute and everything.”  Regulus blinked, processing the wild swing the conversation just took.

“I’m sorry, did you just ask me out?”  He replied, waiting for the punchline.  Weren’t they just making fun of his brother two seconds ago?

“I did.  I am.  You haven’t answered yet though.”  James said, keeping his gaze fixed on Regulus's flushed face.  “You should say yes, this would make an excellent first date.”

Regulus was just… what?  He felt like his brain was frozen, unable to process anything.  “Okay” he said before he even knew he was speaking.  He opened his mouth to take it back and then… didn’t in the face of James’ beaming smile.

Riddle did not ask again, he grabbed Harry's shoulders and moved him away. Harry looked at his dinky watch. 8:58am. "I have two minutes until I'm the property of the Ministry of Magic." So fuck off.
Riddle's smile was condescending. "Don't be silly, Harry. You are always mine."
"Where's HR?" Harry demanded.
Riddle's smile widened. "We don't have HR."
"Ok. First, let's create an HR office. Then I'll anonymously report you for harassment."
"How about dinner tonight to go over sexual harassment in the workplace in detail?"
Harry threw his head back in laughter and a few people turned to stare at the loud noise. "That was smooth," Harry complimented with a smile feeling reluctantly impressed.

Sirius let out an undignified squawk at the insult but relented, “I want you to want to visit me not come by because you have to for your potions research.”
That was… well Regulus felt a bit like he’d been knocked on the head and had a weight dropped on his chest at the same time.  He knew that want.  That wanting to be wanted was so familiar that the ache of it echoed in his bones for years.  An unacceptably large part of him felt a bit vindicated that Sirius was finally getting a taste of what Regulus had lived off for years.  Crumbs of forced proximity and unwilling interaction with someone you just wanted to love you.  But really, even Regulus knew that he was still mostly just the same kid that wanted his big brother to eat birthday cake with him.

Regulus stood, brushing off his trousers. “C’mon, Jamie, we’re leaving.”
James stood, instantly obeying, and Remus whistled. “Damn, Reg, you go. Got him on a leash and everything,” he said, even as Sirius choked. “Clearly you do decide what Prongs does.”
“I’m sure he loves you all,” Regulus raised an eyebrow. “Unfortunately, I give him things none of you can.”

Yes, they’d all been told not to touch anything that seemed ‘off’ but that was hard to do when the whole damned house was basically a giant cursed object.  The fact that Regulus and his brother hadn’t accidentally offed themselves by bumping into the furniture as toddlers was frankly a miracle.
