Remus Lupin x Reader
Masterlist
Summary: everyone has been teasing the reader since first year about their crush on Remus Lupin. To the point that they had given up any hope of him liking them back. Only to discover they were in the same boat all along.

The train ride back to Hogwarts was either the best or worst part of the Hogwarts experience. Sometimes it was both. It’s a long train ride.
You hadn’t seen your friends all summer due to a family vacation. So you were catching up with Lily Evans, Marlene Mckinnon, and Mary MacDonald for the first time in three months. Everyone had a lot to say.
“You grew your hair out!” Mary exclaimed as soon as you walked into the cart. You smiled at her and pushed said hair back behind your shoulders.
“I’m just trying it out,” you say.
“Are those new clothes? You look amazing,” Marlene said. You smiled at her and glanced down at the clothes you were wearing.
“Oh, yeah. My parents let me redo my wardrobe. Like a seventh year gift or something,” you said. The girls nodded and you all got comfortable in the seats to start talking. About an hour into the ride, Remus opened the door and walked in, shutting it and locking it behind him.
“Hi, Remus, come on in,” Marlene said sarcastically. Remus turned to look at all of you and rolled his eyes.
“Sirius put on his music and is giving a concert. I just want to nap,” he said, looking at Marlene.
“Well, there’s not much room for a giant to lay down on one of our seats,” she said, crossing her arms. Mary got up from next to you.
“Here, I can sit with them,” she said and you didn’t miss the wink she sent you. You had a very well known crush on Remus Lupin. All your friends knew about it. And all your friends were all his friends. So naturally you assumed he knew about it as well. Remus looked at Mary and shook his head.
“No need, I am just going to lay down on the ground.” Mary raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms over her chest.
“And you think Marls won’t kick you? What gave you that confidence?” She said. Remus glanced at a smirking Marlene. All three girls seemed to excited to get Remus to sit next to you, and you knew he knew that. However he just nodded and took Mary’s seat while Mary sat in between Marlene and Lily. You glared at all three of them and then you notice how all three of them seemed to be holding in a laugh. You knit your brows together.
“What?” Then you glance at Remus and see that his eyes are already on you. It made you tense up a little. Remus rarely looked at you unless you were talking in the group or class or something. His eyes weren’t on yours. They were wandering like he had never seen you before. You shift a little, glancing at your friends for help but Mary just buried her face in Lily’s shoulder.
Remus quickly looked away from you and cleared his throat. “Oh, um, sorry.” You look away too, not sure how to speak anymore you just nod. It took a grand total of five minutes for all three other marauders boys to be knocking at your door. Remus groaned and stood up, opening the door.
“Why’d you leave, Moony? I was in the middle of Killer Queen,” Sirius said. Remus rolled his eyes.
“Exactly.” Sirius put a hand to his heart and gasps.
“Moony, are you… are you trying to tell me you don’t like Queen.”
“I don’t mind Queen. I don’t like your version of it.” Sirius claps his hands over his mouth and wipes away fake tears.
“Come on, we’ve convinced him to turn off the music,” James said. Sirius waved his hands and shook his head.
“No. No way. I can’t be near him right now,” he said and stole the seat next to you by plopping down. Then he looked over at you and grinned.
“Oh, hey, Y/N. You’re lookin’ great! How far back in line am I with you as beautiful as that?” You raise an eyebrow at him and scoff. Sirius had been practicing flirting with you since first year. He’d asked you in your first week of being friends if you could help him get girls by telling him how good his ‘lines’ were.
“End of the line, with that one, Sirius,” you said. He pouts and looks over at his friend. Remus was glaring at him and he clearly saw that. Then he looked back at you and grinned again.
“Who would be first, then?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
“Why ask stupid questions, just to be a jerk?” You ask. Sirius put his hands up in surrender and his mouth fell open into and O shape.
“I don’t want you to hate me!” You just rolled your eyes.
“Leave us alone Sirius. We’ll see you later,” you said. He pouts again.
“I have to go with the Queen hater?” He asked, giving you puppy dog eyes. You nodded slowly and Remus took a step towards him, grabbing the back of his collar and pulling him up.
“You heard her. Lets go,” he said. He pushed Sirius out of the door and followed the rest of his friends out as well. Ten seconds pass after the door shuts before all three girls erupt in giggles in front of you.
“What?”
“Took her long enough!” Marlene exclaimed.
“That was ridiculous!” Lily exclaimed.
“I can’t believe it’s finally happened!” Mary said through her giggles.
“What are you talking about?” You said. Mary hops up and sits next to you again.
“Remus! He’s head over heels for you, and you just saw it first hand,” she said, placing a hand down on the cushion next to you. You blink at her and finally laugh.
“Have you lost your mind?”
“You are so oblivious! He has always had his eye on you!” Lily exclaimed and you rolled your eyes. Your friends had been teasing you about Remus for years, trying to convince you he liked you back. You couldn’t agree. Remus wouldn’t even acknowledge you if it wasn’t for your friends. “And the way he looks at you!” Lily was grinning from ear to ear.
“It’s the way James looks at this one.” Marlene said, gesturing to Lily, who blushed.
“The way Dorcas looks at Marlene,” Mary said. Lily cleared her throat.
“Frank looks at Alice,” she said. You blink at all of them, seeing that they were being completely serious.
“You have officially lost it. All of you.” Lily and Marlene rolled their eyes.
“Just wait, Y/N, he’s obsessed with you, you’ll see,” Mary said.
“You think that based on one look?” You ask incredulously. They look between each other before nodding. You just rolled your eyes and sat back.
When you got to Hogwarts, everyone went to the Dining hall. The marauders boys always sat with you and your friends. James sat next to Lily and you sat across from her. Remus sat in between you and Sirius, and Mary was next to you. You noticed all your friends smirking at you and you just glared at them as you sat through Dumbledore’s speech.
As you were walking back to the common room, Mary and Marlene were in a deep discussion about Marlene’s next date with Dorcas. Sirius and Peter were discussing a movie they’d seen and James and Lily were walking a little ahead of all of you. Leaving you awkwardly walking with Remus.
“I’m sorry about Sirius earlier,” he said. You look at him and shrug.
“It’s no big deal. Sirius does it all the time,” you said. He nods a little and stuck his hands in his pockets.
“Yeah.” You raise an eyebrow at him. You probably watch Remus more than anyone else in the world. You know his looks. You know when he’s concentrated, angry, excited, happy, tired, frustrated, upset, and when he’s anxious. He looked frustrated.
“Are you alright?” You asked. Remus looked at you. Remus, the tallest boy you’d ever met looked down at you but it never felt like he was looking down on you in a bad way. He shook his head a little.
“Just a little tired,” he said. You rolled your eyes and shake your head. “What?”
“You’re not that tired,” you said. He raised an eyebrow at you.
“And what makes you think that?” You scoff and glance at him for a split second.
“When you’re tired your eyes get all heavy like you’re trying to keep them open and you slouch. When you’re angry or something, your brows scrunch up a little and you tense up.” You gesture to him slightly with your hand without really looking at him. “And you posture gets abnormally perfect.” He doesn’t say anything for a moment.
“I do that?” He asked. You nod a little, crossing your arms over your chest as you pass the open windows. Remus took off his jacket and put it around your shoulders before you even had time to process what was happening. You look at him and shake your head a little, moving to pull it off.
“I don’t really need-” Remus cuts you off and puts an arm over your shoulders to keep the jacket there. When you put your arms down, he lets go.
“Come on, I saw you shiver like two minutes ago,” he said. You blinked up at him, not even remembering the moment yourself. “Besides, it looks better on you anyways.” You felt a blush climbing up your neck and onto your cheeks. “Ya know, Sirius is annoying as hell, but he was right about one thing.”
“You are a Queen hater?” You asked sarcastically. A small smile climbed onto him beautiful face.
“No,” he said, rolling his eyes. “You really are gorgeous.” You couldn’t breathe. You always said Remus Lupin would make you pass out one of these days, but now you thought today might truly be that day. Remus Lupin just called you gorgeous and suddenly nothing else mattered in the entire universe.
“You think I’m gorgeous?” His brows drew together, causing wrinkles on his forehead. He stepped a little closer to you, his confusion evident.
“Why do you say it like that?” He asked. “Of course I do. I always did.” You drop your head a little, your entire body tingling with anxiety and heat.
“Well, I’ve been trying to get your attention forever, and it sort of just always felt like you didn’t care,” you admitted, knowing how all of your friends teased you about the crush for the past few years. You’d always known Remus knew you liked him, you just knew he didn’t like you back so you just went on with your lives like it wasn’t happening. Remus just blinked at you.
“You really fancy me?” He asked. That just felt cruel so you lifted your head up and glared at him.
“There’s no need to be mean, Remus,” you said. He shook his head quickly and took another small step towards you.
“No! I wasn’t trying to… oh,” he stopped himself and squeezed his eyes shut. He glanced over at your friends who had continued walking without the two of you, not even noticing how you two had disappeared. You crossed your arms tight against your chest and looked down. “I always thought you were beautiful,” he said. You didn’t look up at him despite the swarming in your stomach. “I just figured everyone was teasing because of the crush I had on you in second year.” You snapped your head up at that, your eyes widening.
“You liked me?” He nodded and glanced down at his hands in his pockets.
“Yeah, a lot. I just tried to shove it down and move on when the teasing started. I thought it would stop eventually,” he rolled his eyes and you felt yourself deflate. He liked you five years ago and had spent all that time getting over it while you were just becoming more and more addicted to everything about him. You both were silent for a moment.
Finally you take a deep breath. “They were teasing because of me,” you said, unable to look at him again. “It’s truly become a bit of a problem how bad this has gotten.” He didn’t say anything for a moment and you don’t look at him.
“How bad what has gotten?” You squeeze your eyes shut, willing one of your friends to come over and save you from this dreadful conversation.
Finally you look up at him and find his eyes ready to meet yours. Your breath hitched. The sincere curiosity and confusion in his eyes made it a million times worse. “I’ve liked you since basically the end of first year, Remus.” He blinks at you, leaning back slightly like the sentence had actually been a gust of wind he didn’t expect. “It’s horrible, because functioning in your general vicinity is nearly impossible. All I can think about is not making a fool of myself around you,” you added. Now you had finally admitted it and there was no going back now. Remus knew how you felt about him. It made you nervous but also felt like a weight lifted off your shoulders.
The boy you’d been dreaming about for years finally knew how you felt.
“I get that you don’t like me anymore, Remus. And… and that’s fine,” you said and took a deep breath. “I just didn’t think you need to keep thinking you’re the source of the teasing when it is entirely my fault.”
“You’ve liked me since first year?” He asked. You sighed and looked him in the eye again.
“That’s all you’re focused on? Look, nothing has to change. You don’t like me and I understand that. I always have. I don’t want things to be awkward now just because I vocalized what everyone already knew.”
You go to take a step in the direction of your friends when Remus grabbed your wrist, stopping you. You frowned a little and looked at him again. “I didn’t know you liked me,” he said. You blinked at him, shaking your head.
“Our friends have been saying it for years, Remus, I know you knew,” you said. He shook his head.
“No, I didn’t. I knew my friends teased me about a beautiful girl liking me. I just thought is was ridiculous. I had no idea why you would like me,” he said. You rolled your eyes and crossed your arms again, pulling out of his grip.
“Come on, Remus.” He gave you an extremely confused look and you huff out a breath, letting your arms fall. “Remus, you have always been the most perfect boy around. You’re handsome, you’re smart, you’re funny, you’re one of the most loyal people I know, but apparently you’re an idiot also.” He just stared at you for a moment. Then a small smile popped onto his face. Remus always had the capability to make you swoon you just tried not to show it.
“I don’t think I’m the only idiot here,” he said. Your eyes widened and you stared at him for a moment.
“Excuse me?” He rolled his eyes and took a step closer to you again.
“I tried to make my feelings go away. I never said I succeeded.” You blinked up at him, your throat going dry. You try to clear your throat but it doesn’t really help.
“What are you trying to say, then?” You say, lifting your head up and raising an eyebrow. Remus just smiles at you, causing any remaining confidence to fade because that smile will surely make you pass out.
“So stubborn…” he said. “I like you, y/n.” You can’t breathe. You don’t say anything and he raises an eyebrow. Finally he nods and continues again. “I could tell you everything I like about you but I think we’d be here a while.” You finally blink out of your trance, blushing as red as a tomato.
“You’ll have to write it down, then,” you say sarcastically. He just smiles at you.
“I’ll get on that.” You smile a little and his eyes brush over your face for a moment. “So, will you go on a date with me?” Your eyes widen at the question. He waits for a moment for your response.
You freeze for half a second before processing that he really asked that and it wasn’t just your imagination. “Yes,” you finally say softly before clearing your throat and trying again. “Yes, I would love that, actually.” He grinned at you and stepped up to you again.
“Perfect. First Hogsmeade trip is on Sunday. Would you like to go out with me then?” You nod, not fully trusting your capability to speak. His smile is unwavering. This isn’t a joke. You really are going on a date with Remus Lupin.
You and the girls were going to be up all night talking about this.

To the Moon and Back

Remus walked into the library, aiming for the back corner. The place the two of you always met up at during your time away. It was one of the few places and times where it was just the two of you, not your friends.
He spotted you writing something, huddled over paper and books at the window. He came up behind you and placed his stuff down besides you. You looked up, tilting your head back to look at him. He smiled at you, watching your upside down face smile back up at him. He leans down and pecks your lips.
Then he sits down beside you and glances at the papers in front of you. He notices different moon phases in the books, and looks at you again. “What are you working on, love?”
“An astronomy assignment. It’s actually really interesting.” You smile and look down at the book. You show him a calendar in your book. Each day showed a different moon, going through the cycle. Each new phase on each day. He couldn’t help but cringe a little at the depictions of the full moons. He rightfully despised them. You flipped the page and revealed yet another one. “The library has the moon phases of every day dating back centuries. It’s said that the phase of the moon on the day you were born and the day your soulmates were born should make a full moon. The closer to a full moon you are, the more likely that person is meant to be in your life.”
He smiled a little, glancing at the different moon phases. He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. “So what’s this assignment, love?” He asked. You smiled and nodded at your papers.
“I’m glad you asked. I have to go through all my friends and find all our moon phases. Then I have to find out who is my soulmate. See, I have transparent paper and I’ve been working on it for over an hour.” You explain. Remus scoffs and raises an eyebrow.
“An hour?”
“Hey, I’m going through centuries of moon phases here,” you say, smiling. Then you look at him and find him glancing between your doodles. “I was about to find your birthday.” He looks at you again with wide eyes. He blushes a little and shakes his head.
“It’s a silly moon thing, I don’t need the moon of all things to tell me you’re perfect,” he says. You smile a little and kiss his cheek.
“I know that. But, it’s still cute. Look, I already did Lily and I. And James, and Marlene,” you say and show him the different drawings. Then you roll your eyes as you show him the Sirius one. “So far Sirius has come the closest. I think I won’t tell him, he’d never shut up about it.” Remus scoffs and nods, but he can’t help the sinking feeling in his gut as he looks at it.
Remus loved Sirius. He was best friends with the boy. But, Sirius was more of a flirt. He knew Sirius was more conventionally attractive, especially compared to Remus. He was insecure about his scars, his awkward height, his… problem. He’d always been nervous about introducing people to his friends, especially Sirius. He thought the people would always like him more.
But you’d all been friends since first year. And you’d chosen him regardless of everything. He always had to remind himself of that, and you did as well.
“Alright, March 10, 1960,” you mumble, flipping through the months. His chest clenches with nerves. He pressed his lips together as he looked over your shoulder. “A waxing gibbous.” You smiled when you stopped, and glanced at him. Then you give him a pointed look. “Doesn’t matter, eh?” You ask, raising an eyebrow. He rolls his eyes, a small smile playing at his lips.
“I just want to beat Sirius,” he says. You roll your eyes, a smile spreading across your lips. He kisses your cheek as you turn to the book again. You grabbed a piece of translucent paper, which already had a sketch of your birth moon on it. You pressed it against the illustration of Remus’ moon phase. You smiled but Remus couldn’t fully see it. He tried to remain casual, leaning back but he just wanted you to show him.
Once you’d finished tracing his moon onto the paper, you turned to him, smiling. “Bad news,” you say. His heart drops, but you grin and hand him the tiny piece of paper. “You’re stuck with me.” He creases his brow and looks at the paper in his hand. A perfect full moon. His eyes widen a little and he looks over your shoulder at his birth moon. He glances at your other drawings of yours as well, just to make sure they really line up, and they did. You smiled at him as he relaxed.
His whole heart expanded. You were his soulmate. He already knew that, of course, but still. It was a nice confirmation. You pressed your lips together before placing a hand on his wrist. His attention went back to you in an instant. You smiled at your boyfriend.
“Now… when you see a full moon, you can think of me. And how absolutely perfect we are,” you say with a smile. He can’t help but smile a little and look down at the piece of paper in his hand. You press a kiss to the tall boy’s lips and then wave at the paper. “Keep it. I can draw another for my class.” He looked up at you again, studying you for a moment.
He had no clue how he’d gotten so lucky.
“I love you.” You smile and put a hand on his cheek, before running a hand through his tousled hair.
“I love you too, Rem. To the moon and back.”

“Newt!” You exclaim, running into the gardens. Newt looks up instantly, slightly alarmed by the way you came up to him. You were still in your running gear and grinned at him as you came to a stop.
“I went into that new section to day with Minho! It was so cool! There were these thin metal wall thingys, and-”
“Are you supposed to be telling me any of this?” He asks, raising an eyebrow. You wave him off, smiling still.
“I tell you everything I’m not supposed to. I expect the same in return,” you say, giving him a pointed look. Newt just chuckles and nods, picking up the basket he had in front of him before he started walking. You walk in step with him. “Anyways, I think we’re figuring out the pattern more and more every day. Like this part is new, but it’s similar to a lot of the old ones. I think we’re getting closer!” You exclaim, shaking his arm a little bit. Newt just smiles at you and you go back to talking, which is usually how your dynamic works.
“What would you do first when we get out?” You ask. You swing your arms a little as you walk. Newt just starts transferring the crops into their designated areas. “I think I want to have something to eat. I love Frypan, but I wanna try something that isn’t one of our designated three meals,” you say. Newt chuckles at that and nods. “What about you, Newt?”
He just shrugs and you sigh, thinking of going to shake him a little on the shoulders, but think better of lifting your arms. You need to wash up. As soon as possible. Newt raises an eyebrow at you and you sigh again. “I need a shower.” Then you smirk at him. “Wanna join?” Newt blushes as he always does when you flirt with him. You chuckle a little again. “We could start off slow… Can I hold your hand?” you say, reaching out so he can grab you hand. Newt looks at you for a second, his blush deepening.
“Maybe later, Y/N.” You frown a little as he steps away and you drop your hand. “I’ll see you at dinner.” He walks away. A second later, Frypan walks up to you and dusts off his hands.
“You’re so mean,” he says. You give him a confused look.
“What do you mean?”
“He’s so into you and you keep messing with him!” Frypan exclaims. You blink at him.
“I wasn’t messing with him,” you say. Did Newt think you were just messing with him? Oh no, you hoped he didn’t think that.
“Doesn’t seem like it,” Fry says before walking away. You frown, and look over at where Newt was still walking.
You just decide to go shower before dinner. You sit next to Newt when you get to the tables. He gives you a small smile and you start talking to Minho across the table. You decide to grab Newt’s hand under the table about halfway through the meal. He tenses up next to you, a soft blush on his cheeks. You don’t say anything about it, though, and neither does he.
After dinner, you got up and Newt looked at you. “Uh, Y/N?” You look at him and raise an eyebrow.
“Yeah?”
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” He asks. You nod and sit back down, your legs on the opposite side of the bench as his.
“What’s up?” You ask. He just stares at you for a moment before clearing his throat.
“Why’d you do that during dinner?” He asks. Your eyes crease a little, confused.
“What do you mean?” He clears his throat again and glances around. He lowers his voice like he doesn’t want any of the others to hear.
“You grabbed my hand.”
“I held your hand, Newt. And you didn’t pull away.” You cross your arms and give him a pointed look.
He gives you a sharp look back. “Why on earth would I pull away from you?” He asks sharply. You raise an eyebrow at him.
“I don’t know what’s going on in your head,” you say, making him visibly confused. “First you act like you’re uncomfortable because I held your hand, and that’s fine I won’t do it. But then you say something like that. I flirt with you and you never flirt back, but you don’t tell me to stop either.”
“Y/N,” he says, trying to cut you off but you keep talking.
“Sometimes I can’t tell if you like me or not.” He sighs like he’s going to say something, but you continue. “I don’t know what you want me to do Newt, because if you don’t like me just tell me. I won’t keep making a fool of myself if you don’t want me,” you say. You pause, out of breath and Newt just stares at you for a second. His eyes were wide and wandering over your face. “What?”
“You. You ramble, it’s adorable,” he says. Your eyes widen a little and he raises an eyebrow. “I think this is the first time you haven’t had something to say,” he says. You blush a little, looking down at the table. Newt reaches over and places his hand on yours.
“I could never tell if you were serious or not,” he admits. “I wasn’t about to make a fool of myself by flirting back with someone I like just for a bit.” You frown a little.
“I was never joking,” you say. He smiles a little and nods.
“I see that now.” He makes a point to officially hold your hand in his. “I’ll hold your hand now.”

Part 2

Summary: Arthur’s sister is in love with his servant. But being together is completely out of the question, especially since Uther heard the rumors.

Arthur sat beside you at the dining table. You were waiting for your father to finally bless the two of you with his presence in order to eat. Arthur sipped his wine and glassed behind the two of you, where both of your servants stood.
“I never do find a moment without him around,” he says quietly. You look over at your brother and raise an eyebrow.
“Hm?”
“Especially when you’re around. He always finds a reason to come along,” he continues, ignoring you. You blink at him and finally glance behind the two of you to find Merlin and your servant standing behind the two of you a few feet away with Gwen. Morgana chuckles from across the table. You turn back at glare at the two of them.
“I haven’t a clue what either of you are on about,” you say. Morgana scoffs and raises an eyebrow.
“Really? Even Arthur isn’t that blind,” she says. You continue to glare at her and then Arthur shifts in his seat and clears his throat.
“So you freak out before father comes, I have news for both of you.” You look at him, confused by the sudden topic change. “He’s invited Lord Weston and his son to Camelot for a visit in hopes of finding the boy takes a liking to you.” You freeze. You see Morgana’s mouth fall open.
“Excuse me?” She finally says. You just continue to stare at your brother.
“It was always the way things were going to work,” he says, but he can’t meet either of your eyes.
“He’s already sent word?” You ask.
“As of last evening,” he says. You continue to stare at him for a moment, your throat tightening and your eyes watering. You push it away, however when the doors open and your father walks in.
“Good evening!” He says, and smiles at all of you before sitting at the head of the table, next to Arthur.
“Are you insane?” Morgana snaps and Arthur closes his eyes, already putting his head in his hand.
“Excuse me?”
“Morgana,” you say in warning. She shakes her head and stands up.
“She’s your child, you can’t just sell her off to someone!” It was your turn to close your eyes now. It was even worse knowing Merlin was hearing all of this.
“You told them, I assume?” Your father asks, looking at Arthur. Arthur waves a hand and offers a fleeting smile.
“Thought it would lessen the blow,” he says.
“We don’t even know the man and you want to marry her off to him! It’s going to be Arthur and I next, I suppose?” Morgana asks. Arthur blinks at her, and yet again looks back at the servants behind you. You both made eye contact. Both of the people you two wanted were already in the room.
“That’s enough, Morgana. He comes from a good family and Lord Weston is a good friend.” Your father was obviously hating the conversation.
“You don’t know his son!”
“Sit down and get ready to eat,” he said, trying to end it. Morgana huffs, but sits down.
“You’re only hurting her, you know. And she’ll hate you forever if you go through with this,” she says. Your father slams his hands down on the table and you jump slightly.
“That is enough! This is the way things are and it’s high time all of you accept that!” He snaps, glancing around the hall. His eyes land on you. You stare at your father for a minute before you know for a fact you’ll cry if you stay. You look away and stand up.
“If you’ll excuse me, I find I’m not hungry anymore,” you say before turning and walking out, with your servant following you.
For the next few days you saw little of anyone except your maid. Gwen and Morgana popped in a few times, but little more than that. Finally, you were walking without your maid when you stumbled upon Merlin.
You turned a corner and he nearly ran straight into you. “I’m sorry! I-” he stops, noticing you. “I’m sorry.” He finishes his statement and looks down. Suddenly you have the impression that it wasn’t just the running he was sorry for. You offer him a small smile, but even seeing him knowing the Lord and his son were arriving any minute hurt your heart.
“It’s quite alright, Merlin,” you say. He looks up at you again. You hadn’t been so formal with him in private for months. He knew that. He swallowed and glanced around, ensuring that it was truly the two of you. When he looked back at you, he looked almost disappointed that it was.
“Arthur’s just gone to greet the King’s guests,” he says. Your throat clenches. Merlin being the one to tell you makes it ten times worse.
“Oh,” you say. Merlin glances behind himself as you look down. He takes a step towards you and kisses your cheek. You look up at him with wide eyes.
“I keep my promises, Y/N, no matter what,” he says softly. You stare up at him and a second later you hear voices from down the hall. Merlin steps back and you swallow, fixing your posture as Arthur rounds the corner with Lord Weston and his son in tow. Arthur looks between you and Merlin but plasters on a smile.
“Y/N! Lord Weston, Sir John, this is my sister Princess Y/N Pendragon,” he says. You force a small smile and they bow politely.
“Pleasure to meet you, my Lady,” Lord Weston says. You give him a small smile and notice Merlin step behind Arthur out of the corner of your eye.
“Your highness,” Sir John says, bowing his head.
“Pleasure to meet you both. I know my father’s pleased to have you here.” Arthur looks at you. Nobles know how to make things sound like compliments when really you’re saying just how annoyed or upset you truly are.
“It was an honor to receive the invitation,” Lord Weston says. You force a small smile.
“Of course. I look forward to having dinner with you all tonight,” you say and quickly step away from both of them. Arthur clears his throat and nods.
“Right, your chambers are just this way,” he says and starts walking and the men follow. Merlin grabs your hand and squeezes it quickly as he walks past you.
You look at him and he gives you a soft playful smile before nodding in the direction of the men. A second later Sir John stumbled over his own feet. You give Merlin a pointed look. He shouldn’t use magic so openly in the castle, especially in front of or on nobles. Though, you can’t hide the small smile on your face.
Merlin quickly starts to follow the men and you notice Sir John glance back at you. Only when he looked at you this time you had a genuine smile on your face, and it certainly wasn’t because of him.

You definitely were not supposed to be in the woods. Your father would have a fit if he found out. You didn’t have a guard, or even your maid with you. He’d be even angrier if he found out exactly who you went into the woods to see.
“Merlin!” You call, running after the boy. He turns to you, looking around quickly. You run up to him, putting your hands on his shoulders to stop yourself.
“What are you doing out here? You’re going to get yourself hurt! You shouldn’t be alone. You-”
“Merlin!” You stop his rambling, cutting him off. He clenches his jaw and you smile at him. You tilt your head a little and step closer to him. “Aren’t you happy to see me?”
“Y/N, you know what will happen if someone sees anything,” he says, a little more gently this time. You frown at him, letting your hands drop finally and stepping back.
“Who’s going to see anything out here?” You ask. Merlin sighs, and glances around again.
“Your father was angry enough based on rumors, Y/N, what do you think would happen if someone told him they saw us together,” he says. You don’t respond to that for a moment. Of course Merlin is right. He usually is. But, that doesn’t make it fair.
Your brother was the crowned heir. You were just the daughter that would inevitably be married off to someone for your father’s benefit. It wasn’t fair. Even Arthur knew that.
“Y/N,” Merlin takes a step towards you again and puts a hand on your cheek. He bows his head a little to get you to meet his eyes. “Of course I’m happy to see you. I always am. But this dangerous. Not just for me, but for you too,” he says. You press your lips together again, closing your eyes.
“It isn’t fair,” you say quietly. He nods and pushes some of your hair behind your ear.
“I know it’s not. We just need time,” he says. You open your eyes again and look at him.
“What if that’s just another thing we can’t have?” You ask. He sighs and presses his lips to your forehead. The action makes you smile a little, but it fades quickly.
“I promise that I will do everything in my power to make sure one day we won’t have to worry about anything but you and I,” he says. You stare up at him.
“My father has been talking to nobles about my eligibility, Merlin.” That makes him stop for a moment. He just stares at you. Then he uses both his hands to cup your cheeks. He leans down and brushes your lips with his own quickly.
“Do you trust me?” He asks. You nod almost as soon as the words leave his mouth. He gives you a small smile and nods. “Then trust I won’t let anyone take you from me,” he says. You do find some comfort in the statement, and smile at the boy.
“Merlin, promise me that one day you’ll marry me,” you say. The boy just smiles at you and kisses you again quickly.
“As long as you promise to say yes when I ask,” he says. You smile at him and rise on your toes to peck his lips in response.
“I love you, Merlin,” you say. He smiles at you and wraps his arms around you so you hug him around the middle.
“I love you too, Y/N.”

List What You Like
Remus Lupin x Reader
Main Masterlist
Summary: Your best friend asks you for dating advice, and you start to have a feeling he’s talking about you when he starts listing things about his crush.
Remus Lupin Masterlist
Requests are Open
Tumblr media
“Hey, Y/N, can I ask you something?” Remus asks as he sits next to you in the Library. You look up at him and raise an eyebrow. Lily had walked away only seconds before to find a book for a paper the two of you were working on.
“Sure?” You say, hesitantly. Remus Lupin had become your best friend over the past year since Slughorn paired the two of you up at the beginning of fourth year.
“Okay, um… I like this girl and I’m not sure how to ask her out,” he says. You stare at him for a second, your heart clenching. You didn’t know Remus liked someone. He hadn’t told you anything about it. And you were head over heels for him, so why was he asking you?
“Oh. Why can’t you ask Sirius or James? They ask girls out all the time,” you say and roll your eyes, hoping to come off more playful than annoyed. Remus scratches his neck and scoots his chair a little closer to you.
“That’s all Sirius does. And James hasn’t really had much luck, has he?” He asks, glancing at Lily’s stuff. You chuckle a little and shrug.
“I guess you’re right about that.”
“Besides. I really like this girl. I don’t want to mess it up,” he says. You look at him and give him a look. He seems a little taken aback by it. “What?”
“Remus, you could literally never speak to someone before and simply walk past them in the hall way and they’d probably like you. Everyone has had a crush on you, Remus. You have nothing to worry about,” you say, knowing it’s true. Remus had made all of your friends like him at some point. You had yet to find someone that said the man wasn’t at least attractive. He knew it too. Sirius complained about how easily he got people to like him all the time.
Remus blinks at you, a slight blush on his cheeks. “Have you liked me?” As soon as he says the words you realize your mistake. A blush heats your cheeks quickly and you look back down at your homework.
“Oh, um… I…” Remus raises an eyebrow at you and shifts forward to get you to look at him. He had that look on his face that made you weak in the knees. You were glad you were already sitting down. He was leaning forward with his elbows on his knees and his hands ever-so-slightly brushed against your leg. For once, he was actually looking up at you.
“Y/N?” He asks. You blink at him, coming out of your trace. You clear your throat and can feel your blush deepening.
“Uh, it was a long time ago,” you mumbled. Yeah, a long time ago that it started. You’d liked him since before he knew you existed.
“Oh,” he says. You look at him, thinking you heard disappointment. He just shrugs and leans back though so you convince yourself it was your imagination. You look away from him again as he starts speaking. “Uh, well the girl I like is my friend. So if I really can’t mess things up with her. I can handle her not liking me back, I think, but I don’t want her to cut me out.” You look at him again and let out a breath.
“What do you want me to tell you, Remus? I already told you. The girl would have to be blind and stupid to not like you,” you say. Then you raise an eyebrow at him. “Is she blind and stupid?”
He smirks a little and shakes his head. “No, she’s not. She’s actually got these gorgeous eyes that I’m kind of obsessed with,” he says. You try not to scowl at that. You really didn’t want to hear the boy you like go off on a tangent about the girl he likes.
“Really?” You ask with more of an edge than you would’ve liked. You look back down at your homework and pick up your quill.
“Yeah, and she’s really smart too. She’s probably one of the top girls in our year,” he says. You knit your brows together and glance at him. You knew everyone in your year. Who was he talking about? “She’s so funny too. She’s witty as hell, she doesn’t even have to think about it.”
“Sure you’re not talking about yourself, Rem?” You ask and force a small smile. He smiles back at you, completely beaming at this point. You chew on your bottom lip and look away from him again.
“Yeah. Did I mention that she’s gorgeous? I mean, her hair, her eyes, merlin, her lips?” He leans back in his chair practically sighing. You curl your own lips and refuse to look at him.
“Sounds perfect, Rem,” you say. You see him nod out of the corner of your eye. He leans forward again and taps your leg with his hand. You look at him and raise an eyebrow.
“Why would she have to be blind not to like me?” He raises an eyebrow but you can still see a bit of a smile on his lips. He’s egging you on. He’s just trying to make you blush again. You know it.
“What?”
“You said before she would have to be blind not to like me. That doesn’t make any sense.” You sigh and drop your quill turning fully to face him.
“Remus, come on. You know you’re handsome. If you don’t then perhaps, you’re blind,” you say and cross your arms. He raises an eyebrow at you, a smug smile slowly stretching across his face.
“What makes me so handsome then? Prove me blind,” he says. You raise an eyebrow and shake your head.
“That’s such a weird sentence.”
“Tell me. What exactly is so attractive about me?” He asks. You look at him for a second and pretend to study him for a while.
“Want a list?”
“I’d love one.”
“Okay…” you cross your eyes and rake your eyes over him slowly. You notice him shift in his seat and when you look back up you can see a small blush to match the smugness on his face. “There are a lot of small things that make a boy attractive,” you tell him. He leans forward, avidly listening. You smirk a little to yourself. “Some even sound a little weird.”
“Just tell me, Y/N,” he says. Your smirk grows a little and you straighten up, enjoying the time you have at having him look up at you instead of down.
“You know how to dress, unlike some other disasters that walk around here, as Mary likes to say.” Remus chuckles a little at that. “Also, a lot of people like that you’re tall, it definitely doesn’t hurt.” He raises an eyebrow at you. “I personally like your hair. It’s the perfect length. There is such a thing as to long or to short in my opinion,” you say. He gives you a questioning look and smirks a little at you. You force yourself not to squirm.
“You also have very pretty eyes,” you say. He straightens a little and gives you a confused look.
“You said you like guys with pretty eyes,” he says. You raise an eyebrow.
“Isn’t that the point of this conversation?” You ask. His eyes brush over your face and your stomach flips.
“Anything else, then?”
“Only about a million things,” you say, hoping you don’t sound to pathetic.
Remus meets your eyes again and stares at you for a second.
“Did I mention that this girl is one of my best friends?” He asks. You stare at him for a moment before processing what he said.
His best friends? Lily, Mary, Alice, Marlene, Dorcas, you’d even seen him talk to that Pandora girl a few times.
But he wouldn’t like Lily, those two were like siblings. Both had called the other a brother or sister countless times. And James was in love with her. Mary had a girlfriend. Alice was talking to that Frank boy. And Marlene and Dorcas were together! You didn’t know enough about that Pandora girl. But you knew she was friends with Sirius’ brother and those boys.
Who else was one of his best friends?
Me, you thought.
But no. No way. He came to you asking for advice on a girl. A different girl. Not to ask you advice about you. That… that… that’s exactly something Remus would do.
You blinked at him as your thoughts went haywire. He looked at you, seeming a little nervous.
“Remus… who are you talking about?” You ask, a part of you daring to be hopeful. He smiles a little at you, and you could tell he was still nervous.
“I thought I was being pretty obvious, gorgeous,” he says. The blush rises back up onto your cheeks as you stare at him.
“You-” You stop when Lily comes around the corner.
“Merlin, that took forever! I had to go and ask for help to find it!” She complains. She places the book down at her spot as Remus leans back in his seat. Lily notices him and gives him a fleeting smile. “Oh, hi, Remus.” Oh, sweet, oblivious Lily.
You still had a blush on your cheeks as she sat down. Remus cleared his throat and smiled at you.
“I’ll see you guys later, okay?” He says. Lily looks up for a second a little confused.
“Oh, okay,” she says before looking back into her book. Remus smiles at you and you realize you were still in shock.
“See you later, love,” he says. Then he walks away again like nothing happened. You were frozen before Lily clears her throat and raises an eyebrow.
“What is wrong with you?”
“I think Remus just told me he likes me,” you say. She blinks at you before grinning and practically jumping out of her seat to silently jump around.
“Yes, yes, yes!” She whisper yells. You stare at her. “I knew he’d cave eventually!”
“You knew?”
“Everyone knew, sweetheart,” she says. You blush and look down. “What did you say? What did he say? Did he ask you out? Wait why’d he leave?” You gesture to her seat and she finally sits back down.
“I didn’t really process it until right before you came back,” you admit. Then you proceed to tell her everything from when she left to when she came back.
“Oh, my timing sucks. Wait why are you still here? Haven’t you waited for this since like third year?” She asks. You press your lips together and nod. She gestures to you and your stuff splayed across the table. “Why are we here then? We need to go! Now!” She stands up and starts putting her things into her bag. You hurriedly match pace with her, a little nervous as she starts leading you out of the library.
“Lily, what are we-”
“Just come on! He’s probably in the common room!” She says. Your eyes widen as you realize what she means. She drags you up to the Gryffindor tower and quickly says the password to the portrait. She drags you in behind her and find Remus sitting with the other marauders around one of the fires. James spots you first.
“Hey, Evans!” He calls. Remus looks over next and spots you. You smile a little at him as Lily makes you stop next to her.
“Remus can I talk to you?” She asks. You knit your brows together and Remus just nods.
“Sure, what is it?” He asks, standing up. She just grabs your hand again and pulls you out into the corridor again. Remus follows, looking between the two of you. “Um, is everything alright?”
“It will be once this is all done and I don’t have to watch the two of you stare at each other all the time,” she says. You blink at her and cross your arms.
“Like you and James?” You ask. Her eyes widen and she waves her hands.
“I do not- oh this isn’t about that! I-” You cut her off, chuckling a little bit.
“Lils?” She raises an eyebrow. “I’m pretty sure we’ve got it from here,” you say. She glances between you and Remus before sighing and going back into the common room.
“What was that?” He asks, laughing a little. You smile at him a little before crossing your arms.
“Do you really like me?” You ask. His laughter quiets and his smile softens.
“Of course I do,” he says. A small smile plays at your lips. “I know you said you liked me a long time ago, so I get it if-”
“Rem!” You say. He looks at you, a little nervous. “I said that cause I didn’t want to make it weird. I do like you. I have liked you for a long time.” He stares at you for a second.
“Really?” You nod and he grins at you. “Will you go out with me on Saturday?” You laugh a little and nod.
“Yes. I’d love that,” you say. He grins and wraps his arms around your waist, hugging you and spinning you around. You laugh a little into his shoulder. “Rem!” He smiles and kisses your cheek as he puts you down.
“I’ve been waiting to ask that forever,” he says. You smile up at him.
“I’ve been waiting forever.”
“You could’ve asked me out,” he says. You cross your arms and raise an eyebrow at him. He smiles and lets out a breath.
“Okay, whatever.”
“Finally,” you hear behind Remus. You both look over to see Lily grinning,James slow clapping, Sirius had been the one to talk, and Peter was smiling with Lily.
“Idiots,” Remus says.
“We’re the idiots?”

Girlfriend for Christmas
JJ Maybank x reader
Main Masterlist
Summary: JJ and the reader have been together for a while, but it’s only on Christmas eve he asks for a girlfriend for the holidays.
JJ Maybank Masterlist
Requests are Open
Tumblr media
Your siblings had all abandoned you this Christmas, leaving you alone with your parents while they get together on the mainland. You absolutely refused.
You rarely spent time with your parents to begin with you weren’t gonna spend a whole day with them.
So you opted to go over to John B.’s with your best friends.
So you found yourself there Christmas Eve. You sat next to JJ on the couch. No one found this especially surprising. You and JJ were… close. Sorta dating, but sorta not. Not officially.
He had an arm thrown over your shoulders while you were curled up next to him. You were all laughing together and giving small gifts to each other.
“Woah, woah, woah, shouldn’t we save gifts for tomorrow?” John B asks.
“I can’t come over tomorrow. My parents are making me do a family day,” Kie says with an eye roll.
“Me too. Y/N?” Pope asks. You shake your head, lips pursed.
“No way. My brother and sister abandoned me this year. I’m so not hanging out with my parents,” you say. The others laugh and nod. Pope puts his hands up in surrender and you smile. JJ leans over to whisper in your ear.
“You should just stay with me, then,” he says. You turn your head a little to look at him and smile.
“That’s the plan,” you say back. He smiles and kisses your cheek.
“Ew,” John B says. You glare at him and that only makes him react more dramatically. “I think I’m gonna throw up. I’m-I’m so scared,” he says, fake sobbing. You roll your eyes and lean further into JJ. “Hey, not on the couch.” You just smirk and turn to JJ. You put a hand on his cheek quickly and kiss him. He smiles against your lips and wraps his arms around you.
Then one of the others throws a pillow at the two of you.
You laugh a little and pull away from JJ. You look back at the others to find them all pretending to gag. You just roll your eyes again as JJ pulls your back against his chest.
The night keeps going until late. Well after midnight most of them had passed out. Including you, laying with JJ on the couch. He laid behind you with his arm over your side, holding you against him.
You wake up to him rubbing your arm and whispering in your ear. “Y/N.” You hum softly, to tired to open your eyes. “I really like you.” You smile tiredly and turn your head a little to find he’s lifted himself up on his elbow to hover over you slightly.
“I really like you too, J,” you whisper and bring a hand up to his cheek, quickly pressing your lips to his for a second. He smiles down at you and kisses your cheek. He peppers kisses along your cheeks and forehead before kissing you again. You were a giggling mess by the end of it. He smiles at you again when he pulls away.
“You’re gorgeous,” he says. You smile up at him.
“Thank you, J. You’re very handsome,” you say. He smiles and kisses you again.
“Do I have a chance?” He whispers. You give him a confused look.
“Chance at what, J?” He kisses your temple and squeezes your side quickly.
“To have a girlfriend for Christmas,” he whispers. You stare at him for a moment. Then you smile and press yourself up a little to kiss him.
“Only if I get a boyfriend,” you whisper. He smiles and nods, pretending to think about it for a second.
“I think there’s an obvious answer to our problem,” he says. You hum in agreement, smiling at him. “Will you be my girlfriend for Christmas?” You raise an eyebrow at him.
“Just for Christmas?” You ask. He chuckles a little and rolls his eyes.
“Alright, I guess after that too,” he says and you hit his chest playfully. “Will you please be my girlfriend, Y/N?” He asks and kisses you for good measure. You smile at him and hum, pretending to consider it. He leans down and kisses your jaw, trailing small kisses all the way down your neck.
When he comes back up to kiss you again you put a hand on his chest to make him pause. “Yes,” you say simply and he smiles at you. Then he leans down and kisses you again.
“Good, I was going to keep asking until you said yes, anyways.”

Comfort Zone
Remus Lupin x Reader
Main Masterlist
Summary: Remus likes the quiet girl in his class and helps her out of her comfort zone.
Remus Lupin Masterlist
Tumblr media
You sat next to Remus as silently as you could, praying Mcgonagal wouldn’t notice you slipping into the back row.
You’d accidentally slept in, which you never do, but today you did. And none of your dorm mates are particularly nice. Or friends of yours. So none of them bothered to wake you.
You saw two of them a few rows ahead of you and one, Jess, looked back at you before notifying the other, Donna, of your presence. You saw them giggling behind their hands before you decided maybe coming to class late was somehow worse. You just avoided looking at anyone.
“Ignore them,” you hear whispered next to you. You jump a little at the sound of Remus Lupin’s voice. He rarely spoke to you. He was Remus Lupin, he didn’t have to. He was smart, witty, attractive, popular, and had practically every girl, and some boys too, at Hogwarts at his feet.
“What?” You whisper after a second of processing. He glances at your roommates and nods in their direction. He rolls his eyes and gives you a pointed look.
“They’re ridiculous. Ignore them,” he says. You press your lips together and look at Mcgonagal again.
“That’s pretty difficult when you live with them,” you mumble. He watches you for a second then he shakes his head.
“They’re just jealous,” he says. You almost laugh outright, and cover your mouth with your hand, thankfully not drawing any attention to yourself. You look at Remus who raises an eyebrow at you, clearly confused.
Why would Jess and Donna be jealous of you? They were gorgeous girls with plenty of friends. You… were not that.
“They have nothing to be jealous of, trust me,” you say quietly. Remus scoffs and you stare at him for a second, extremely confused.
“I know for a fact those girls woke up well over an hour before breakfast to get ready for school just to get attention. Jess hasn’t gotten new robes since third year because she thinks the smaller ones make her look better,” he rolls his eyes. “There are those girls and then there are girls that don’t care what others think and wake up for themselves. You strolled into class late, and I’m guessing you slept in, right?” He asks. You hesitate before nodding a little. He smiles a little and nods at you, glancing over you quickly.
That look that he just gave you has made multiple people blush in the past and you heard a rumor he once made someone faint. You think that rumor might be right.
“They’re jealous because you don’t even try and you look ten times better than them,” he says. You stare at him for a moment, and you can feel the heat on your cheeks. He smiles a little at you before refocusing on Mcgonagal.
When class was over you stood up, but Remus stopped you. “Uh, Y/N,” he says. You look at him as you sling your bag over your shoulder. He stands up and you hate how short you feel. “My friends are having a bit of a get together tonight. Do you want to go?” He asks. Your eyes widen a fraction.
“Me?” You ask. He smiles a little wider and nods.
“You,” he says.
“Um…”
“Please? Dorcas and Marlene backed out last minute and Lily would rather die than let the guys outnumber the girls,” he says. You smile a little. You were friendly with the girls from that dorm, you’ve just never really talked much.
“Um… sure,” you finally say. He smiles and nods.
“Great. Meet us in the common room after dinner, alright?” He says. You nod and walk out of the classroom.
That night, you walked into the common room and Mary ran up to you. “Yes! Thank God you’re here. Lily’s about to completely blow,” she says, grabbing your hand and pulling you up the stairs towards the boy’s dormitories.
“Um, are we allowed up here?” You ask. Mary laughs a little and shrugs.
“Not technically, but we come up here all the time. The boys come to ours sometimes too. Minnie doesn’t really care,” she says. She pulls you into a dorm without knocking. Inside you see Lily, Alice Fortescue, and the marauders.
“You’re so arrogant, it’s ridiculous!” Lily exclaims, looking at Sirius.
“Why am I arrogant this time?” He asks. Then notices that Mary had dragged you in here and throws his arms out. “Hallelujah!” He says. Everyone else notices the two of you now and Mary pulls you over to sit next to her, so she was also next to Lily. You noticed that you ended up next to where Remus was sitting on what you assumed was his bed. His legs dangled off the side next to you. He smiles at you when you look at him quickly. You smile back quickly and then look away.
“Sirius was just explaining why he should pick the movie for the third time in a row,” Lily says, pointedly. Sirius sighs and puts his hands on his hips looking at Lily.
“Because, Evans, I have the best taste here, clearly,” he says. Mary gasps next to you and puts her hand over her heart. Sirius puts one hand up and gestures to her. “Okay, Mary and I are tied for fabulousness,” he says. You smile a little at whatever this could be called.
“I’ll accept that for now,” Mary says.
“But, fine. If someone else wants to pick, someone else pick. But no sappy depressing chick-flick, I swear to God!”
This starts a whole new argument over what movie to watch. Eventually Remus moved off the bed and sat on the floor next to you.
“Sorry about them,” he says quietly. You turn to look at him, a small smile on your face.
“Don’t be. This is much better than watching Jess and Donna debate over who their next victims should be,” you say. Remus laughs a little and you smile a little more. You did that. You made Remus Lupin laugh. It’s hard not to feel at least a little proud.
“That’s fair,” he says. You smile at him and he nods at the group. “Anything you want to watch?” He asks. You shake your head and shrug.
“I’ve never watched much TV,” you admit. He raises an eyebrow. “I prefer to read about different worlds and picture them myself than have an image thrown at me,” you say. He smiles a little and nods at your words.
“I definitely understand that,” he says. You smile and finally you notice James turning on the TV and was turning on a movie. You shifted a little and got more comfortable, leaning back against Remus’ bed.
A few times throughout the movie random conversations would break out and it was mostly Mary and Sirius trying to get you involved in them.
By the end of the night you were more comfortable with the group and speaking but not entirely.
You noticed how Alice and Lily had fallen asleep on each others shoulders. It was well past lights out, but for once you didn’t mind all that much.
You felt yourself dozing off by the time the movie ended and decided to force yourself to go back to your dorm. Mary looked over at you and raised an eyebrow. “You’re leaving?”
“Um, yeah. I’m tired so I’m gonna head back to the dorm,” you say. Mary nods and moves to stand up.
“I’ll go with you. Traveling alone is spooky,” she says. You smile a little and nod. She shakes awake the other two girls who get up a minute later. Sirius and James had already collapsed on their beds and Peter had fallen asleep on the floor. You were following Mary out when Remus stopped you again.
“Y/N,” he says. You turn back to him and smile. He hands you your cardigan that you must’ve left on the ground.
“Thanks,” you say. He smiles at you and glances out in the hall.
“Uh, do you wanna do this again some time?” He asks. You smile and nod.
“Sure, I’d like that,” you say. He scratches his neck and smiles at you.
“You think maybe we could? Just you and me? Maybe Hogsmeade on Saturday?” He asks. You blink at him.
“Um… like…” he nods, making you finish the question.
“A date,” he says. “It doesn’t have to be if you don’t want it to be, though,” he adds. You press your lips together, a smile spreading on your face quickly.
“I’d like that, actually,” you say. Remus raises an eyebrow, smiling at you.
“Great. So… Saturday?” He asks and you nod, smiling.
“Saturday. Goodnight, Remus,” you say and give him one last smile before you join the grinning girl in the hall. After the door’s closed and you’re down a bit of the stairs the girls erupt into giggles and squeals and you find yourself doing the same.

Christmas Date
Peter Parker x Reader
Part 2
Previous Part
Main Masterlist
Summary: Tony’s having a Christmas party and tells Peter that having a date is necessary to come. Little does Peter know, Tony just likes playing match maker.
Peter Parker Masterlist
Tumblr media
The Saturday of the Christmas Party, you saw May first. May had helped Peter get ready, and he was in his room when you walked in.
“Oh, my God, you look gorgeous!” May says. You smile, a little self conscious. You were wearing a simple red dress, that did flatter you, but it was nothing compared to what you knew you were going to see tonight.
“Thank you so much!” You say anyways to May.
“Peter! Happy is gonna be here any second, get out here!” May yells to her nephew. You smile and then Peter walks out in a simple suit. You still thought he looked as handsome as ever.
“Yeah, he texted, he’s outside,” Peter says, adjusting his tie. He looks up and notices you waiting and you smile at him.
“So, are we leaving?” You ask, gesturing to the door. Peter swallows and nods.
“Uh, yeah. Yeah, Happy doesn’t usually like me making him wait,” he says, chuckling a little. You smile and follows him out to the car.
When they arrive at the compound, you grab Peter’s hand as you follow Happy. Peter looks at you, clearly surprised. You looks down at your shoes.
“Hey, you’ve been here before. And you know some of these people. I don’t.” Peter just smiles a little and squeezes your hand.
When they arrive to the party, it’s already lively. There’s the man she recognizes as Rhodey telling a loud story in the middle. A woman who she thinks is Black Widow with Hawkeye at the bar. She sees Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and Thor sitting on a couch arguing over something. Though you assumed it was an argument like the ones you had with Ned and Peter. It wasn’t an actual argument.
Mr. Stark noticed you and Peter and grabbed Steve’s arm dragged him and Thor over to the two of you.
“I see you got a date, kid,” he says, smiling at you briefly. Then Steve smiles at you and extends his hand.
“I’m Steve, nice to meet you,” he says. You smile and shake his hand.
“Nice to meet you too. I’m Y/N,” you say. Steve nods at Peter after acknowledging you.
“Didn’t know you had a girlfriend, Peter,” he says. Peter opens his mouth but Thor cuts him off.
“Yes, you’ve done well. You have a pretty girlfriend,” Thor says, clapping Peter on the shoulder. You blush a little and you know it’s from both the compliment from a literal god and being embarrassed.
“Uh, she’s not my girlfriend,” Peter says, pressing his lips together. He lets go of your hand and sticks both of his in his pockets. Then Mr. Stark turns to you.
“Ignore him, he’s been around a lot. I’m now interested in you,” he says, pointing at you. You raise an eyebrow. He smirks and glances at Peter before slinging an arm over your shoulder. He steers you forward and you glance at Peter, but Thor and Steve immediately corner him.
“You like the spider-boy?” He asks. You raise an eyebrow at Tony Stark. One of the richest men alice was asking you if you had a crush on your friend.
“Spiderman,” you say, correcting him. Tony raises an eyebrow at you, an amused look on his face.
“You didn’t answer my question,” he says, gesturing for you to sit at the bar. You notice the two you’d seen earlier start to pay attention to you.
“I know,” you say. Natasha laughs and looks at Tony.
“This the girl Peter told us about?” She asks. The man next to her turns to you now, looking slightly interested. You think Peter told you his name was Clint.
“Right. More teenagers,” he says. Natasha gives him a look, but smiles anyways. Tony rolls his eyes.
You were still stuck on what Natasha said. Peter told them about you. And he asked you to come tonight. And he was nervous when he asked. And you told him it was a not-friend-date. You suspected you were right before this, but how the Avengers around you were acting only confirmed your idea. Peter Parker liked you, and not just as a best friend.
Thank God.
“It’s an easy question, kid. Do you like him or not?” Tony asks. You can’t help but smile a little as you keep working through your thoughts.
“I do, but you guys already knew that,” you say. Tony looks amused again, and so do the other two.
“She’s more blunt than the other one,” Clint says, gesturing over to where Peter is still standing with Steve and Thor. Then you realize that no one else here seems to have a date. You look at Tony again and raise an eyebrow.
“He needed a date to come?” Tony smirks, glancing at his fellow heroes as he takes a sip of his drink. He doesn’t say anything and Natasha laughs a little.
“That’s what you told him?” She asks. Tony shrugs and smirks at you.
“Your welcome, by the way,” he says. You smirk right back at him and stand up.
“Thanks. I guess I’ll see you guys later,” you say. Peter smiles when you walk up to him again. You smile at Steve and Thor. They glance at each other and Steve glances over at Tony again.
“Uh, we’ll keep talking later,” he says. You smile a little and the two heroes walk off. Peter smiles at you and you smile right back.
“A date wasn’t mandatory,” you say. He glances around and nods, sighing.
“Yeah, I caught onto that too. I’m sorry, Mr. Stark-”
“Likes playing match-maker, I guess,” you say. He raises an eyebrow at you and you chuckle a little. “You’ve told them about me?” His eyes widen and he looks behind you at where you assume they’re all congregating. You laugh a little and cross your arms.
“I like you too, by the way,” you say. He snaps his eyes back to yours, and they’re wide when he does. He opens his mouth to say something, but then closes it again. “Not-friend-date, right?” You ask, raising an eyebrow and stepping a little closer to him. You smile at him and he smiles back.
“Yeah. Just a date, though,” he says. You laugh a little and nod. He smiles and takes your hand again. You raise an eyebrow at him. He smiles. “I don’t have an excuse.” You smile a little wider. “Come on, I want you to meet some of the others.”
Then he leads you towards more people at the party. But it didn’t matter that much what everyone else was saying.
You were officially starting to date Peter Parker.
Just in time for the holidays.

“Mr. Stark!” Peter groans, following Tony. “Mr. Stark I don’t have a girlfriend! And half the girls at my school don’t know I exist!”
“Then I guess you can’t go,” Tony says, shrugging, still looking at his phone.
“But, Mr. Stark, all of the Avengers are going to be there! I need to go! Can’t you just let me?” Tony roll his eyes and glances at Peter.
“Just ask out a girl, kid. It’s not that hard,” Tony says. Peter groans dramatically again.
“That’s easy for you to say! You’re a billionaire!” Tony stops short and looks at Peter.
“Are you insinuating women only want me for my money?” He asks. Peter opens and closes his mouth quickly, shaking his head.
“Uh, no, no. I wasn’t-”
“I was kidding. Get a date or you can’t come, kid,” Tony says, before walking off. Later, Pepper would glare at him and roll her eyes.
“Your torturing the kid for nothing,” she says. Tony scoffs and shakes his head.
“No, I’m not. I know exactly who he’s going to ask. Then when he comes with her, that’ll be the torture,” Tony tells her and Pepper just raises her eye brows, but Tony doesn’t say anything else.
Peter went home after his day with Mr. Stark upset. He sat on his bed with his arms crossed, trying to think of someone to go with him.
He couldn’t take his aunt. That’d be embarrassing.
Then he got the best idea he’d had all day. He ran out of the apartment and knocked on the door across the hall. Y/N’s mom came to the door and raised an eyebrow at him.
“Peter? What is it?”
“Uh, is Y/N home, I need to talk to her,” he says. Her mother turned around and yelled for the girl making Peter shift his weight on his feet nervously. A second later his bestfriend came to the door. The same best friend that is, in his opinion, the most gorgeous person to ever exist. She smiles at him and walks into the hall with him.
“What’s up?” She asks. Then her eyes widen and she grins, poking his arm. “Wait, you went up to the Avengers compound today, right?” He nods and opens his mouth to talk, but she keeps going. “How was it? Did you show off again?” He knows she’s only teasing him with the smile on her face, but she rolls her eyes anyways.
“Uh, it was cool. I got to train a lot.” She smiles and raises an eyebrow, clearly wanting to hear more about it. “Um, and Mr. Stark told me about this party he’s having. A Christmas party. For the Avengers and all of them,” he says. She grins at him and bounces on her toes a little.
“Oh my God! That’s so cool, Peter! You’re going, right? Oh, who am I kidding, of course you’re going! You have to go!” She exclaims, about as excited as he was when Mr. Stark told him about it. Then she notices how nervous he looks and settles down a little. “What?”
“Uh, Mr. Stark said I can only go if I have a date,” he says. The girl in front of him raises her eyebrows and scoffs.
“That’s stupid. Isn’t the whole point of the Avenger for it to be like super secure and secret?” Peter hasn’t thought about that argument when talking to Mr. Stark. He thinks for a second but then remembered why he ran over here in the first place.
“Yeah, but I was thinking… only a few people already, uh, know about me. And, I mean, I would prefer it be someone who will be as excited as me, so…” he trails off and she raises an eyebrow. “I was thinking, maybe you’d wanna go with me,” he finishes. The girl stares at him for a second, seemingly surprised.
“As your date?” She asks. Peter quickly shakes his head and waves his hands dramatically.
“No! No, it can be a friend-date thing if you prefer that! I don’t mind either way, I mean, it can be a friend-date or a… not-friends-date, if you’d prefer that. If not, that’s fine! I mean, either way-”
“Peter!” He stops and winces at his own cringey-ness. “You can stop the sales pitch. I’ll go with you. It’ll be fun,” she says. Peter stares at her and she smiles for a second before glancing at the door to her own apartment. “I gotta go back inside. We’re about to have dinner. When’s the party?”
“Oh, uh, next Saturday. The 20th,” he says. She smiles at him and nods, grabbing the door handle.
“Great, then Peter Parker, you officially have a not-friend-date.” She then opens the door and goes inside and shuts the door before he can process what just happened.
Not-friend-date? What’s a-
Oh my God! Peter thinks. Then it finally clicks.
He has a date with Y/N!

“Lily!” You yell, running down the hall. “Lils!” The redhead turns to face you and raises an eyebrow. You dodge someone as you run past and grab Lily’s arm. She’d been walking with Remus Lupin. A long time crush of yours.
“Can I help you?” Lily asks, smiling. You let out a breath and dramatically take a really deep breath.
“I’ve got news,” you tell her. Lily rolls her eyes and looks at Remus.
“Who needs a newspaper when you’ve got a Y/N to tell you every bit of gossip throughout Hogwarts,” she says. You wave her off.
“Don’t be dramatic… Mary and Marlene help too,” you say. Remus smiles but doesn’t say anything. He looks a bit uncomfortable.
“Okay, what is it?” Lily asks. You clap your hands together and keep walking with the two of them.
“Okay, first of all, Marlene and Dorcas are doing a couple’s costume but still swear they’re strictly platonic. At this point they should at least tell their best friends!”
“Oh, I could’ve told you that one. Everyone saw it coming,” Lily says. You wave her off.
“Okay, whatever. I heard that, and don’t tell anyone I told you this, and fifth year Slytherin is trying to slip Sirius a love potion,” you say. This catches Remus’ attention and Lily raises an eyebrow.
“Who?” You shrug.
“Her name’s Willow. I already told Sirius, but I’m genuinely scared the girl will kill me if she finds out,” you say causing Lily to roll her eyes. “Then there’s some boring stuff. Snape trying to get into the Gryffindor party, Regulus and Pandora are coming, but only as friends. I believe that one, Pandora has her eyes on that blonde Ravenclaw boy. James got asked to go with a seventh year-”
“What? Which one?” Lily asks interrupting you. You raise an eyebrow at her. You were all in sixth year, and for the past six years Lily had been rejecting Potter. You had a feeling she was starting to like him but you knew better than to talk to her about it.
“Samantha, why?” You ask. Lily’s mouth fell open and she paused for a second. You glance at Remus who had a smirk on his face and met your eye for a total of a second before looking away. You frowned a little.
“Samantha? She’s been known to go for boys to young for her! That’s disgusting!” Lily exclaims. You shrug.
“I think he said yes. What I’m stuck on is how did James get a date to the party before I did? Nobody even tolerable has asked me yet and it’s in two days!” You exclaim crossing your arms over your chest. “I’m this close to pulling a Regulus and Pandora and forcing Sirius to go with me,” you say holding up a small space between your fingers.
“You don’t need a date to go,” Remus says, talking for the first time since you joined the group. You look at him and huff dramatically.
“Of course I don’t need one. But I want one. I mean we’re in sixth year! I want to at least have one year where I get to do a couples costume with somebody!” You say. Lily nods in agreement and looks forward, clearly thinking about something. Remus just raises an eyebrow at you and you righ, rolling your eyes. “Maybe it doesn’t matter as much to guys but I want to have my movie moment. Maybe I will just ask Sirius if nobody asks me by tonight,” you say, sighing.
“You’ll go with Sirius if nobody asks you in the next three hours?” Remus says. You raise an eyebrow at him.
“Sure, Sirius and I are both single and we’ve been best friends forever,” you say causing Remus to roll his eyes and scoff. “What?”
“Sirius won’t even try to listen to you. You should know that,” he says.
“What are you talking about?”
“Your costume. It’ll be the Sirius show and you know it.”
“Uh, hello? Aren’t you supposed to be his best friend too? Why would you say that?” You ask. Remus doesn’t say anything and shakes his head. He stops walking and nods forward.
“Go on, Lil, I’ll see you later,” he says. You scoff and keep walking.
Nobody asks by that night. So you sit down next to Sirius in the common rom after dinner. “Hey, Si,” you say. He smiles at you as he looks up from his homework.
“What’s up?”
“Wanna go with me to the party? Y’know since neither of us have dates?” You ask clasping your hands like your pleading. He glances over your shoulder and tenses.
“Uh… I can’t. Y’know I love you, but I sorta told Pete we’d go bachelor style. Right Pete?” He says, looking over at Peter. You look at Peter, confused. Peter looks up with wide eyes, almost alarmed.
“Uh, yeah. Bachelors,” he says. You raise an eyebrow at the two of them. You slouch back on the couch and cross your arms.
“Who am I supposed to go with then?” You ask. Sirius glances around again and shrugs.
“What about Remus?” Peter blurts out. You raise an eyebrow and cross your arms. Sirius glares at Peter like he’s an idiot.
“Yes, because Remus seems so interested in the idea of me going at all. I’m sure he’d love to go with me,” you say sarcastically. Peter looks at Sirius, before looking down again.
“Look, Rem’s just been off today. Give him a break. You know you’d love to go with him,” he says and winks. You roll your eyes and kick your friend.
“Shut up, Black,” you say. He chuckles and shrugs.
“Alright, what are you going as?” You shrug and let your head fall back.
“Mary told be I should be one of those medieval enchantresses that Muggles write about,” you say before smirking at Sirius and Peter. “But hotter. In Mary’s words, not mine.” Peter chuckle and Sirius scoffs.
“That’ll work,” Sirius says. But he doesn’t elaborate further.
Later on, you wake up on the couch in the common room. You’d been reading and had fallen asleep. You felt someone shake your shoulder and jolt.
“Woah, woah, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he says. You look up to see Remus Lupin himself. You push yourself up and rub your eyes.
“It’s fine.”
Remus clears his throat and stands there for a moment before sitting next to you.
“So, did you get your date?” He asks. You glare at him and shake your head.
“No. And Sirius said he and Peter are going together as Bachelors.” You grumble and cross your arms. Remus smiles a little and you roll your eyes.
“Don’t look so smug about it. I’m still going, just not with anyone,” you say. He looks at you, clearly a little confused.
“I wanted you to go either way,” he says. You pause for a second before crossing your arms again.
“You didn’t make that very clear,” you mumble. Remus pauses too. He studies you for a second.
“Peter told me about the conversation you all had earlier.” You scoff and cross your arms.
“Of course.”
“I was curious, so don’t be entirely mad at him,” he says. You raise an eyebrow at him and turn to face him a little more.
“Why do you care whether I have a date or not?” You ask. You’d had a crush on the boy for two years. You knew why you hoped he cared.
“Well… I just was curious. After we talked earlier.”
“Right,” you say, slouching again. He sighs and doesn’t say anything else for a second.
“I don’t want you going to the party with anyone else,” he says, causing your heart to stop. You stare at him for a second and he meets the gaze.
“Why?” He chuckles and shakes his head.
“Seriously?”
“Answer,” you say. He stares at you for a second before clearing his throat.
“I want you to go with me,” he says. Your heart pauses again.
“Then why didn’t you ask me?” You ask.
“We’ve been friends for year, and we were never really close. I didn’t want to make it weird,” he says. You gape at him.
“Remus Lupin, I’ve been waiting for you to ask me out for nearly two years and this is how you tell me you actually wanted to?” Remus’ eyes widen a fraction and he sits up a little.
“Wait, what?” You ignore him and keep talking.
“The amount of times I thought you’d finally do it and that’s it? That’s absolutely ridiculous! Did you not know? Because I’ve been told I was being painfully obvious. I know I was being painfully obvious. You certainly weren’t being obvious otherwise I would’ve asked you out myself! I mean-”
“Y/N! Hold on a second!” You shut your mouth as he grabs your arms. “You wanted me to ask you out?”
“Of course I did! I’ve liked you since that stupid party James and Sirius threw around Christmas fourth year,” you say, growing less confident in your statement as you said it. He stares at you for a second.
“You have?” He asks. You nod a little, biting your tongue to keep your mouth shut. “All of your dorm mates had left for the holidays and I mine were being idiots. We spent the entire time together in the staircase just incase something happened,” he says. Your heart stops again. You didn’t think he remembered the party. You two never spoke about it again.
“You actually remember that?”
“Of course I do. It was the first real time I got to speak to the most gorgeous girl in Gryffindor,” he says. You stare at him. “Y/N?” You press your lips together and raise an eyebrow at him. “Will you go with me to the party on Saturday?” He asks. “I’ll dress up however you want me to,” he adds. You chuckle a little and bite your lip.
“I’d love to,” you finally say when you remember how to speak.
Maybe the party was the classic movie moment but Remus Lupin was already giving you the movie moment feeling just by asking you out.

You were quite literally in a cage. When the boys saw you, everyone froze. You were helped out of the cage, but nothing changed for a second.
Then a few of them started arguing over who got to show you around. You took a step back from the group of loud boys, nearly tripping back into the cage. A boy grabbed your arm, and pulled you away before you could though.
When you looked at him, he was a bit taller than you, with fair, pale features. Blonde hair, fair skin, and then these contrasting dark eyes. He nodded at the group of boys behind you.
“Ignore them, you’re the first girl in the glade and they’re a bit excited,” he says. You press your lips together and glance around, noting the tall stone walls surrounding the field you were in. He lets go of your arm and holds his hand out for you to shake. “I’m Newt. Don’t worry, your name will come back to you within the next couple days. That’s all we’ve got,” he says. You raise an eyebrow at him, confused.
“What do you mean?” You ask, scared. He gives you a small comforting smile.
“That’s all any of us remember before the Glade. Our names are all we’ve got,” he tells you. Then he glares at someone over your shoulder. You flinch when he shouts at the group of boys over your shoulder. “Get back to work, and clear out the boxes!” He yells. The boys stop arguing behind you and do as the boys say.
A boy with darker skin, and built much more muscular than Newt comes over to the two of you. “Newt, show the greenie around. I’ve got stuff to do with Gally,” he says to the blonde boy.
And so he does. You spend the rest of the day with Newt, and he explained how things worked in the glade and showed you around.
The next day, you ran over to him in the gardens towards dinner time. “Um, Newt?” You question. He looks up as you stop next to him and he smiles at you.
“Hey, something wrong?” He asks. You give a nervous smile and shake your head.
“Um, not really. I just… uh…” you suddenly feel stupid for coming to him with the request. It was stupid and you suddenly felt like you would be pulling him away from his job for nothing important. You closed your eyes, then glance down at the spare set of clothes and towel in your arms. “Nevermind.”
You quickly turned and attempted to walk away before Newt grabbed your hand. He stood up straight and raised an eyebrow at you. “Come on, love, whatever it is you can tell me,” he tells you. You press your lips together and look down in your arms again.
“Uh, well, I… I know you showed me where the showers were. But, I don’t know, it’s sorta stupid but I just feel uncomfortable. Going alone, I mean. Just a couple of the boys were looking at me funny, and… I sound really paranoid. I’m sorry, I can go by myself-” Newt cut you off, squeezing your hand.
“Love, I’ll go. Don’t worry about it. I’m glad you came to me if you feel uncomfortable. Just let me tell someone I’m done really quick and I’ll go with you,” he told you. You let out a breath of relief and gave him a small smile before he walked away to tell someone.
All he was thinking was that he was going to kill the next boy that gave you the wrong look.
Over the next few days you became more attached to Newt. He showed you around the gardens and basically dared any of the other keepers to try to take you from him. Without you around, of course.
Then on the third night, you had a dream that involved your name. You woke up when it was still dark and everyone was asleep. You went to Newt immediately, woke him up just to tell him.
You shook his shoulders and he practically jumped in his hammock. He looked at you as his eyes adjusted and he glanced around. “Is everything alright, love?” You got a small swarming feeling in your stomach like you always did when he called you that.
“Yeah, I just. I needed to tell you,” you whisper. He sits up on his elbows and leans closer to see your face better.
“What is it, love?” He asks. You smile at him.
“I had a dream and my name was in it.” He blinks at you.
“Don’t leave me in suspense, love, what is it?” He asks. You grin at him.
“Y/N, my name’s Y/N.” He smiles at you and looks over your features in the dark.
“Y/N,” he whispers to himself, and it for some reason makes you blush. You’re glad he can’t see it. “Fitting.” You tilt your head.
“Why’s that?” He smiles at you.
“It’s a pretty name, so of course it fits you perfectly.” Your blush deepens and you tilt your head down a little.
“Thank you,” you say softly. He smiles at you before squeezing your hand.
“Get some more sleep, love,” he says. You smile at him, nodding before getting back into your hammock which was right next to his. You were glad that just because you knew your name he didn’t stop with the pet name.
Over the next few weeks, he watched you become more comfortable and confident with your place in the glade. He was happy that you were becoming more comfortable with his bestfriends. Minho, Alby, and Frypan adored you nearly as much as Newt did. Though he doubted that was actually possible.
And Newt always kept a close eye on you. Just to be sure you’re okay. And you didn’t even need to ask him to go with you to the showers. He just went when he saw you going. In a strictly protective way. He never went anywhere near you until you were dressed.
When a new boy came up in the box the next month, he noticed that you were a little disappointed. He sat with you and the boys at dinner. The new boy sat her without making her talk to much.
At the bonfire, you and him were walking around a little. He was talking with the new greenie when he noticed how frequently the boy kept glancing at you. He wrapped his arm over your shoulders nonchalantly, and didn’t mention anything. He just noticed how the boy stopped glancing at you after that.
You didn’t mind either. You liked the comfort and warmth his touch provided.
Over the next weeks, you became Newt’s top priority and he was convinced you were blind to all of it. You’d of course say thank you for the small things he did, but he was also convinced you didn’t notice the way he looked at you. The way he thought about you constantly. The way he was always so tempted to kiss you. But he didn’t want to make you uncomfortable. He definitely didn’t want to lose you being around him so much.
At a fire one night, you sat next to Newt with some of Gally’s special recipe. As the night wore on, you had more than you had ever had before and Newt noticed. He also noticed how you got tired, and started leaning on him more. When you wrapped your arms around his arm, and rested your head on his shoulder, he decided it was best to get you to your hammock. He excused the two of you from the group and took you to your hammock. You never let go of his arm, and his heart ached.
He laid you down and you curled up in your hammock. He was going to go to his own hammock, but you grabbed his hand.
“Where’re you going?” You ask. Newt crouches down next to you, and brushes the hair out of your face.
“I’m just going to lay down. I’m not going anywhere far, love,” he tells you. You frown anyways.
“Lay with me,” you tell him. He just looks at you for a moment. His heart leaps at the idea. He wants more than anything to hold you. And he wants you to want it too. But he doesn’t know what it means in your head. Regardless, he is incapable of saying no to you.
He gets into your hammock, and adjusts you so you are laying on his chest. You wrap your arms around his middle and he looks down at you.
“Goodnight, love,” he says softly. You snuggle closer to him, and grab onto his shirt a bit.
“Newt?” You whisper, ignoring him. He tilts his head a little.
“Yes?”
“You’re more comfortable than I imagined,” you say softly. His heart skips a beat. “You’re so warm. I love this.” He stares at you.
“I love it too, Y/N,” he says softly.
“Newt?” You ask again. He smiles to himself.
“Yes?”
“I love you,” you whisper, and he freezes. He stares at you. That could mean multiple things. That could be friend zoning, or… or not. He hoped not.
“You-”
“I’ve thought about this before, you know. Just… being with you. Is that strange?” You ask. He blinks, in disbelief. Then he grinned.
“No, not strange at all. I think about you too, love.” He felt you smile against his chest and he knew that when the two of you woke up in the morning he’d make plans to have you to himself for dinner tomorrow night. And, with any hope, get to kiss you like he hoped. “I love you too.”

He was a very confused Glader.
It started when she came up almost a year ago now. He thought she was the prettiest person or thing in the entire world. Prettier than any other glader, and night in the glade, any star.
She was so smart, and she cared so much about all of the boys in the glade. He knew the moment she came up she was going to be the best thing to happen to any of them.
The amount of times she’d comforted boys having panic attacks during their first weeks in the glade, or in general. The amount of wounds she’d treated. She was perfect.
Beautiful, smart, funny, caring. The whole package.
“Hey, Newtie,” she said, startling him in the garden. It was early, but he couldn’t sleep so he just started to work. He didn’t expect her to be up yet. Or in the gardens.
“Y/N,” he said, and stumbled over his basket, before righting himself. She grabbed his arm, smiling at him and chuckling slightly, though she tried to hide it.
Great, it’s first thing in the morning and she’s already laughing at me. He thought.
“Good morning,” she said, giving him a pointed look.
“‘Morning, love,” he said dramatically. The last time he didn’t say good morning to her, she’d given him the silent treatment until he did. And it took him a while to figure out what she wanted. So, he tried to make a point every day now to say good morning to her before she could be annoyed with him.
She claimed she’d thought he’d ignored her, so she returned the favor ten fold. He never made that mistake again.
“Hm,” she says and narrows her eyes on him. “Wanna have breakfast with me?” She asks. His heart skips a beat and he tries to keep from grinning to widely.
“Y-yeah, of course,” he says. She smiles widely and grabs his hand.
“Great, c’mon,” she says, pulling him towards where Frypan was putting out some things for breakfast.
That night there was a small fire and everyone was talking. Newt was talking to Minho when he looked over and saw her talking to Winston. His heart clenches as he watches her laugh and smile at the other boy. He ignores Minho for a minute before he puts a hand on Newt’s arm.
“Hey, you good?” He asks. Newt swallows and nods, sparing one last glance at you who didn’t even seem to care about anyone but Winston at that moment. He went back to talking with Minho, halfheartedly.
Eventually Minho got up to get some water and walked over to you. You smiled at him and tilted your head a little. “What’s up?” You ask. Minho narrows his eyes on you and taps your arm, nodding away from Winston. You furrow your brow but follow the runner. He takes you a few feet away from everyone else and lowers his voice.
“Talk to Newt,” he says. You were even more confused now. You’d talked to Newt less than an hour ago.
“Why? Is something wrong?”
“He thinks there is. You have no idea, do you?” He asks you glance around, very confused.
“What do you mean?” He rolls his eyes and gestures to where Newt was staring into his cup. You frowned looking at the boy. Minho rolled his eyes again and walked away. You went up to Newt and put a hand on his arm. “Can we talk?” You ask. He looks at you and his brow furrows before he avoids your gaze.
“Why?” He asks, a little harsh in tone. You frown, sitting next to him.
“You just look upset. Is something wrong?” You ask. He rolls his eyed and puts his cup down, standing up.
“No, I’m just tired. Alright?” He asks and starts walking towards the hammocks. You frown before chasing after him.
“Newt, I’m sorry but I don’t believe you,” you say. He sits on his hammock and gives you an annoyed look.
“Why do you even care?” He asks. You furrow your brow, confused.
“What do you mean? You’re my best friend,” you tell him. He looks down at his lap and you sit next to him on his hammock, leaning into his side a little bit. “Aren’t I yours?” You ask, teasingly. He looks at you and studies you for a moment, his features softened.
“Of course you are. But I don’t…” he stops, and looks down at his lap. You frown, tilting your head a little.
“You don’t what, Newt?” He sighs and avoids looking at you.
“I don’t think about you the same way I think about Minho or Alby,” he says softly. You stare at him for a second before you smile a little.
“I don’t think about you the way I think about them, either, Newt. You’re totally different,” you tell him. He sighs and shakes his head, before he looks at you.
“That’s not what I meant! I meant, I look at them like the idiots they are, I look at you like you’re a goddess. Like you’re a star in the sky, because when I look at you that’s the only thing I can possibly think of,” he tells you. You blink at him.
“Really?” You ask.
“Of course, how could I not? See? You don’t-“ you smile at him and kiss his cheek. You then put your hand on his cheek and meet his eyes.
“Newt. You are absolutely like a star in my mind, too,” you tell him with a soft smile. He stares at you for a minute, his eyes flicking over your features.
“I am?”
“Definitely,” you tell him. He smiles a little and you kiss his cheek again. He fidgets with his hands, even though his smile grows a little bit.
“So… is it weird that I’ve thought about..” he trails off and you raise an eyebrow. He meets your eyes, before simply gesturing between the two of you. You smile a little and shake your head.
“No. Not weird,” you tell him. He smiles at you and you twist up your lips a little for a second. “Newt?” He raises an eyebrow. “Can I kiss you?” You ask. He smiles wide, and nods.
You lean forward and press your lips to his, washing away any worry either of you had about the other.
