"M' tired," Villan mumbled, face pressed into Heros shoulder. Heros palm pressed into Villans abdomen. Warm liquid coated Heros fingers. It smeared maroon against Heros shirt.
"I know." Hero agreed. He shut his eyes as the building shook. Cracks formed in the walls. The ceiling shuddered, groaning as if it would give way.
"I know."

"Just die!" Hero screamed.
Hero swung at Villan more. He aimed for Villans jugular. He ment to kill, to sever, to cut. Deep. But Villan was faster, smarter then Hero currently. The blade was flung from Heros hand, hitting the ground with a hard clang.
Heros breathe was ragged. Every intake of air Hero felt his diafram burn. At least 3 broken ribs. His eyes burned from a mixture of sweat and blood. Hero clutched his broken writs with his right arm. His fingers were gnarled out of shape, twisted like the branches of a tree. Blood covered his arm, making them slippery to hold on to.
Villan clicked his tounge. "You know you can't keep this up forever,"
Hero let out a ragged breath. "Fuck you."
"Why don't we take a break?"
Hero closed his eyes as a wave of dizziness flowed over him. He stumbled slightly, readjusting his footing by swaying left to right.
"Hero, you're going to pass out if we don't stop." Villan said, taking a step closer.
Hero opened his eyes once more. Blood flowed from Villans nose. A newly forming black bruise covered Villans right eye.
Villan stood 5 feet away from him. The knife lay only 3 feet away from Hero. If he was quick enough, Hero had 10 seconds to pick it up and stab Villan. Hero made the calculations in his head.
But if Villan beat him to it, Hero would be dead within 6 seconds. Hero paused.
Nah, worth it.
Hero lunged for the weapon clutching it with his good hand. But before Hero could turn on his opponent, Villan was already wresting him to the ground. Heros attempts to escape were slowed up his injuries. Hero fought, and fought, and fought until Villan took the blade out of Heros hands once more.
Hero thrashed under Villans hold, screaming, yelling, shouting every profanity he could muster. He yelled until his voice became hoarse, his body gave out. He stopped yelling when the tears streamed down his face, red and hot. A wretched sob left Heros lips. And another. And another. And another. Hero cried as he felt snot run down his face, down the back of his throat.
Hero squeezed his eyes shut. This was humiliating. For his own enemy to see him like this, to see him weak. Hero could imagine a worse punishment.
Hero kept his eyes closed until he felt the arms of Villans wrapping around him. Hero pressed his face into Villans shoulder.
"Breathe," Villan murmured. "Breathe."
Hero took in a shaky breath, trying to keep his sobs small.
"I'm trying," Hero choked out.
Villan chucked. A moment of silence passed between them.
"I know something was off with you today," Villan said.
"You've been more off the usual."
"Trying to kill you is 'off ''?" Hero asked.
"No, that's usual." Villaned hummed. "You just don't like it when I break your fingers is all."
"But you tolerated it today," Villan gazed down at Heros hands.
"Yeah," Hero mumbled.
"Why?" Villan asked.
He broke the hug, pushing Hero away. Hero grimaced. He hated when Villan did this, when he cared.
Hero shrugged. "Just wanted to mix up our fighting tonight."
Villan narrowed his eyes, but decided not to push it. Maybe it was the agency again? Something personal? Him and Hero had gotten close to ending each other before, but Villan had never seen Hero cry like this. This was new.
It was game they both played. Cat and mouse if you will. The cat gets skinned, the mouse gets poisoned. They got home, heal, and rinse and repeat next year. Maybe he should've held but with the fingers. He made a mental note of that for next year.
"Fine. But it's my turn to take you home this year."
The helping each other heal was never really in the deal. It was something they both picked up a few years back. Staying in to cook for each other or bandage one another. Not that Villan minded. Just simply helping each other scratch the other back. Nothing personal.
Hero only nodded as Villan lifted him up.
"Can we order burgers tonight then?" He asked.
Villan nodded, carrying Hero bridal style in his arms. "Yeah."
Hero passed out from exhaustion before he could hear Villans answer.
Hero x villain

"Dance with me?" The Villan asked, outreaching an arm.
Hero tentivly took Villans hand, feeling the rough ridges and callous' of Villans palm.
Villan grinned. "Let us waltz," He said.

"What are you doing here?" Villan asked, turning around in his brown armchair.
Hero shrugged, shoving his hands into his denim jean pockets.
"I just, yknow..." Hero trailed off.
"If you want to use my gadgets, you don't need to ask for permission." Villan said as he flipped through the book pages in his hands.
"Well, I-" Hero began.
"And you don't need to ask to see Sidekick either," Villan interrupted.
Hero cleared his throat.
"I wanted to see you, Villan."
Villan pursed his lips together. "Oh."

"Does it hurt here?"
Hero lifted a tender hand to Villans injury. The flesh was crimson, charred deeply. His hand traced Villans arm, leading all down to his wrist.
"It hurts all over," Villan chuckled in a low voice.
Heros eyes wandered over to Villans hands, which were preoccupied with a roll of bandages. The light filtering from an adjacent window, dowsing Villan in delicate rays. The muscles on his chest were sculpted yet soft. Bandages lay across his abdomen, moving up to his shoulder.
Villan turned to Hero.
"Are you hurt as well?" Villan asked.
Hero made eye contact with Villan. The sunshine reflected against the rooms light, making Villans eyes into mini pools of honey.
Hero gulped. He looked away.
"No, I'm fine."
His cheeks burned.

"We can't keep doing this!" Hero hissed.
Villan panted underneath him. His hands were pinned above his head, Heros nails digging into his skin. He inhaled sharply.
"What? You don't like the chase?" Villan seethed.
Hero tossed his head back, letting out a dry laugh. He released Villans arms. He sat, straddled on Villans body after the physical struggle between them. Hero looked down at Villan.
His suit was in tattors, fabric ribbed from seam to seam. His body shivered under Hero. The blood once flowing from his forehead had dried into a red crust.
"You're pathetic." Hero spat.
"And you're a loser," Villan rasped.
Hero narrowed his eyes.
"Were with this. Get up." Hero stood, outreaching a hand to Villan.
"I don't need your help," Villan murmured. "Leave me here to die."
He coughed, blood spilling from the side of his lips.
Hero pulled Villan off the ground, hoisting him up.
"You're a coward for not finishing me off," Villan coughed.
Hero paused. "I think you're a coward for not accepting help."

"Do you want me to leave?"
Villan sipped the wine in their glass. They closed their eyes, savoring every flavor. Surely apple...with cherry?
Villan leaned against the back of the bathtub, sinking further into the water.
"No. Come in, please."
Villan heard the door open, along with the soft footsteps of Hero. Villan peered open one eye, glancing at Hero.
The soft candle light illuminated the toned back of Hero. Hero rumaged through the bathroom sinks before turning towords Villan. Hero sat on the toilet adjacent towords the bathtub.
"Why did you want to join me?" Villan asked.
Hero shrugged.
"I didn't want you to be alone." He said simply.
Villan sat up slightly, pivoting to look at Hero. The water moved, the rose petals distrusted.
Hero's eyes slid across Villans collarbones.
Villan let out a coy smile. "I appreciate that, Hero."
Hero hummed as Villan rested his arms onto the bathtub side, leaning forward.
"Well, I do love you, Villan." Hero murmured.
Villan smiled. "I do love you too, Hero."

"I look a mess," He sighed.
Villan hummed, placing a kiss onto Heros forehead.
"The prettiest mess." Villan agreed.

"Don't touch him!" Villan yelled. He pushed Superhero away.
Villan leaned over Heros body. No.
No.
Villan shook Heros shoulders.
"Hero?" Villan croaked out. "Hero?"
Villan shook Hero harder.
"Please wake up..." Villan pleaded. He hugged Hero tightly to his chest.
"Please." He begged.
Villan reached out to touch Heros face, wiping the hair away from thier eyes.
They desperately waited and searched for any sign of life on Heros face. Nothing.

"I think...I can love you."
Villan paused, eyebrows knitted together.
"What do you mean you can?"
Hero looked across the city's skyline. The sun's rays reflected yellow, pinks, and orange tones across the buildings. Hero smiled, taking in the view. He raised a hand to shield his eyes from the light.
"What I mean is that I see what you dont." Hero said.
He turned back to Villan. His smile deepened.
"I see a partner, someone who understands me." Hero explained. "Someone who understands what my life is truly like."
Villan opened his mouth to speak and then stopped.
"I see a friend," Hero explained. "And as something potential."
"You view me as a project." Villans voice was low and gruff.
"No," Hero shook his head. "I see you as my friend. You've been there for me since forever. You mean more to me than you'll ever know."
Hero studied Villans face. He gazed over every detail. How Villan eyes were full of so much emotion, but his face remained cool. Hero saw the conflict with wanting to believe his words and the fear of Hero living. Hero wished he could do something to soothe Villan to make Villan understand that Hero did care.
"I don't agree with your work or what you do," Hero said.
Villan looked away.
"But I still care for you unconditionally."
"I like how you like sugar in your coffee, I like how you are nice to service workers. I like it when you are sick and watch rom com movies with me, despite believing thier bullshit. I enjoyed it when you did my laundry when I'm injured even when I didn't ask you to. I see how you always give me the best parts of dishes without taking food first for yourself." Hero continued.
Hero swallowed. "I see how kind you are when children talk to you. I know that your favorite color is yellow because it gives you hope. I know that you hate it when it rains because you don't like getting wet. I-"
Hero looked away, his sentence trailing off.
"And I want to get to know you more." He said.
When he looked back up, Villan was staring up at him eyes wide.
"I... didn't realize you knew that much about me." Villan said.
"Do you really want to know me more? How could you love me?" Villan asked.
"Villan," Hero said. "If only you knew how much I want to."

The guilt of today tore me apart unlike anything had before.
It clawed at my throat, my stomach, my mind. It howled and shrieked.
It begged to be let free. It screamed to return to the old patterns of me.
I paid no mind. I looked elsewhere. I left the guilt in silence.
I had not begged for quiet. I had not pleaded for forgiveness.
I had changed. So much had changed.
The tides shifted in favor of mental strength.

"Drink this and don't argue with me."
Villan handed Hero the cup. Hero compiled, letting the warm liquid down his throat.
"Now let me see your wounds."
Hero shifted in his seat to allow Villan access to his back.
Hero felt Villans hands tracing the incision on his back.
"Does it hurt when I do this?" Villans hands pressed onto the wound.
Hero hissed. "Yes," He rasped.
"You'll be bedridden for a few days," Villan mumbled.
Hero turned to Villan. "We don't have a few days,"
"Supervillan is still out there, and I need to stop him."
Villan huffed. "Not in the condition your in,"
"You can barely stand, let alone fight Supervillan."
"Oh, and who will take care of me until then?" Hero remarked.
"I will." Villan smiled.
Hero narrowed his eyes. "You'll posion me,"
Villan laughed. "And you can't do anything about it. " He winked.
Villan helped Hero back onto the comforter.
"Now go to sleep before I actually "hurt " you." Villan chuckled.
Hero grimaced. "You'll smuther me with blankets?"
"Wouldn't dream of it, Hero."
Hero felt his stomach flip. Villan was up out of the room before he could see the flush creeping up Heros face.

"I can't believe you're actually my house-" Hero said.
Villan leaned against the doorways, arms crossed over his chest.
"And yet, here I am." Villan replied.
Hero scowled. "Don't get comfortable"
He pointed a finger into Villans chest. "This is only temporary."
Villans face showed no expression.
" Even this?" Villan held up a necklace. He had given Hero it two months ago. Hero flushed with anger. How did he get that? That necklace was personal. It was meant to be thrown away. Villans gifts were nothing to Hero. Villan must've taken it off the street yesterday.
Hero snatched it out of Villans hands. "Yes. Even that."
Villans facial features softened for a second before he became cold again.
"Suit yourself." Villan said before turning on his heel and leaving. Hero alone in the apartment. He was alone in his life once more.

Heros arm was slung over Villans shoulder. Hero tripped slightly when going over a curb.
"You're very drunk," Villan said, chuckling.
Hero laughed. "Yes, I just like you, though -"
He stepped in front of Villan, halting both of them.
He gazed into Villans eyes. "You're just so beautiful." Hero slurred.
Villan paused. "You are very, very drunk."

Hero heaved under the coat. Villain placed the back of his hand to Heros forehead.
"Love, you're burning up." Villans' hands moved to Heros' cheeks, cupping one in the palm of his hand. "You definitely have a fever."
Hero laughed half-heartedly. "Yes, it appears so." He replied softly.
Villan shook his head. "I'm not joking around Hero. You're seriously hot."
Hero shivered. "Comes with the job..." He murmured.
"Here," Villain hoisted Hero up off the bed. "Let's get you out of this coat."
Hero didn't protest, only allowing Villain to unzip the fabric. Villain could see the sweat sticking to Heros forehead. Hero rested his head onto Villains shoulder. Hero breathing was labored. Hero felt his skin bristle as the jacked was removed. He was cold. Too cold.
The white shirt Hero was wearing stuck to Heros skin like sticky tact. It coated Heros body with dampness. Villain placed a hand to Heros neck, checking to see if all of Hero was warm. Hero leaned into the touch. It felt so, so good to his hot skin. Hero didn't want to leave this situation.
"Love, I think we should get you into the shower." Villain said.
Hero nodded.

"Oh, Villan," Hero sighed, pushing his face into Villans coat. "What sha'll we do?"
Villain wrapped his arms around Hero. Hero breathed in Villans cologne.
Villain placed a kiss to Heros temple. Snow fell slowly around them. The park was quiet. Hero felt like the world was holding its breath for them.
"I don't know love," Villan hugged Hero tighter. "I don't know."

Hero felt arms slowly warp around his waist. The arms pulled him in. Hero felt his back hit the chest of someone else. Hero felt lips brush his ear.
"I love you," Villain whispered. "I love you so much."
Hero stilled, placing the sponge onto the sink counter. Villain placed his face into the crook of Heros neck. Villain inhaled, then exhaled.
"So much," Villain murmured.
Hero smiled. He turned around, wrapping his arms fully around Villans frame. Villain accepted the hug, pushing himself fully into Heros embrace. Hero placed a kiss on Villain forehead.
"Miss me?" He asked.
Villain hummed. His eyes were so deep, so full of longing and love that it made Heros breathe catch in his throat.
"Of course," Villain whispered. "Always."
