The Necker Cube: a symbol for the androgyne community
Tumblr media
The Necker cube is a bidimensional optical illusion first published in 1832 by Louis Albert Necker. It's particular because the person who observes this cube has no clue of the "real" direction of the image, as it can be both concave and convex based on how you look at it, giving us a multistable perception of it.
Cameron Reed in 1996 has first proposed the Necker Cube as a symbol for the androgyne community, since the ambiguity of this cube can be found in androgyny (physical, mental, or both).

Would it be correct to say “I am an androgyne” or is it more like nonbinary in the sense that you should add the word “person” after that?
Since English is not my first language, I don't exactly know if this could be a typo or not. As I think that this could work in the same way someone would say "I'm a girl/boy", I don't see the problem with saying "I'm an androgyne", but "I'm an androgyne person" I'm almost sure is incorrect to say, as it seems like "androgyne" is describing one physical trait like "I'm a white person", and that's also the reason why saying "I'm an androgynous person" for example is correct because it describes your physical appearence, not your gender.
What about if you try to say: "I'm androgyne" instead? :)
If anyone knows the answer better than me is free to reply this post!

I'm pretty sure that everyone knows these emojis, since they've been around for a few years now and are used daily.
But, despite that, a lot of folks seem to don't know the use they were created for.
This because those emojis are commonly known as "non-binary emojis" which is clearly wrong and dangerous to say, as it goes against all of the ideals for which we fight as a community. This because it seems to imply that all non-binary people are androgynous, or all men are masculine, and that all women are feminine, but it's a fact that this isn't the case.
Even when I was looking for example images to include in this post, I found more results by searching for photos as "non-binary emojis"
But the truth is, that these are simply gender neutral/androgynous emojis, and so they don't have a predestined target users. Emojis are here to help everyone to express their emotions, actions etc. with the help of colored icons that they feel best represent their person and what they are trying to say and/or represent. So even the conventionally known emojis of "man" and "woman" aren't really gendered at all. Everyone regardless of their actual gender can use any set of emoji, whether they are used to better represent how they appear irl <-[in real life]<- (conventionally masculine/feminine/androgynous), or whether they are used to represent how they really see and feel themselves, regardless of their physical appearance.
for example:
If you are a masculine woman and use the "mens" emoji set you're not saying that you're a man, you could just use them to represent your special connection to masculinity or to better represent yourself;
vice-versa if you're a feminine man you can do the same with the "womens" emoji set;
if a feminine or masculine non-binary person use the "binary" emojis sets they're not saying that they're no longer non-binary.
This could continue forever with all the most varied examples, just as we humans are not divided into three binaries, therefore neither are the emojis we use.
As well as pronouns, clothing, colors, activities, personal tastes, etc. are a matter of preference, also emojis are.

How do you make interesting male character designs, male fashion is so fucking boring and bad, and you seem to have a good sense of fashion, please help im suffering
two important tools you must remember:
1) there is no such thing as 'mens clothing' and 'women's clothing' theres just clothing and if you see something a lady is wearing and it looks good you dont have to say 'aww but a guy can't where that' yuuuup buddy you can. draw whatever and wear whatever you want forever. my wardrobe is completely mixed in terms of 'men's' and 'women's' clothing bc it's just MY clothing not anyone else's
2) pinterest
almost went on this entire rant about 'women's fashion is more expansive in part due to misogynistic double standards of appearance and men's fashion is only bad/boring because of years of being funneled through capitalism patriachal expectations of power homo/transphobia and racism' but if i do that people will start throwing rocks at me with the intention to kill and if i write multiple paragraphs of reflection on the false gender divide within fashion and the patriarchy and someone only reads 2 sentences to get mad at ill start blowing things up gotham city style
anyway these are the secrets to good mens fashion there is no brand that will save you there is no purchase that will save you utilmately you must study what you like blind to gender and then mix and match what you believe looks good. because i cannot just tell anyone 'this is fashionable' it is about going and finding what you specifically feel reflects yourself (or a character in this instance)

Androgyne -> gender identity (can have any gender presentation)
Androgynous -> gender presentation (can have any gender identity)
not all androgynes are androgynous and not every person who presents androgynous is androgyne
gender≠presentation

The "A" in LGBTQIA+ stands for all "A" identities, such as Aromantic, Asexual, Agender, and also Androgyne!
As nobody seems to know / nobody (almost) ever mention us as a part of the acronym, I will for everyone.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello y'all!
🏳️‍🌈Happy Pride Month!🏳️‍🌈
Sorry for the delay but I have been very busy recently.
I come back today because June 3rd is is the bi day in the pride month and I'm very happy to celebrate my bisexuality :)
And also, the colors are similar to those of the official androgyne pride flag, and still match with the rest of the blog lol
Now I will list some facts about bisexuals that people keep forget:
-Bisexuality isn't just attraction to both men and women, it is and always has been inclusive for nonbinary people;
-Bisexuality isn't transphobic, we're not attracted only to cis people;
-The pink in the flag represents homosexual attraction, blue represents heterosexual attraction, and purple represents bisexuality (The possibility to be attracted to people of both sexes/regardless to sex, and as a consequence to all genders, with or without preference). Usually people think that pink means attraction to women and blue attraction to men, but it's wrong and reinforces the gender stereotype on binary genders reduced to the two colors, without even considering the possibility of gender non-conforming and people beyond the gender binary (that have always been included in the definition of bisexuality, read the bisexual manifesto [here] to learn more);
-Bisexual ≠ polyamory; sometimes the two things can coincide as some bisexual people are also polyamorous, but there are still monogamous people and also ambiamorous people who are bisexual. Being attracted to more than one gender doesn't mean being attracted to more than one person at the same time;
-According to the previous point: Bisexuals aren't greedy, and they don't cheat just because they're bisexuals. It is commonly believed that while a bi is with one person of one gender, they will cheat on them with another of the opposite gender, or they simply don't know how to be faithful because their nature it would lead them to be attracted to anyone, but of course that's not true. It does not depend on sexual orientation, we're just able to love like everyone else. But for us could be really hard to find a partner because of this harmful stereotype;
-It's not all about sex, and also, biromantic people exist;
-No, we're not confused, no, it's not just a phase and no, we're not just gay or straight, sexual fluidity exist and exist the possibility to be in the between or in a completely different area. We swing both ways and sometimes other ways, that's all;
-We may or may not have preferences, but this doesn't make us pan or less bi. (+pansexuality is a microlabel under the bi umbrella, not a sexual orientation on its own that includes something different from bi definition, pan folks just prefer to use a specific definition of bisexuality, and it's valid) We know our sexual orientation, and it's up to us to label it;
-Please stop calling us "half gay, half straight" for some maybe that description works, but bisexuality is a real identity on its own and it doesn't depend to other monosexuality labels, it makes bi-erasure. And also, not all bisexuals have a perfect 50/50 percent of attraction. Preferences can fluctuate, and even if an individual is 99% attracted to the same sex and 1% to the opposite sex, it doesn't make them less bi, the only thing that matters is being attracted to more than one gender;
-So If we choose to date only one gender we're not faking our bisexuality, because bisexual means being attracted to more than one gender, not dating all of them.
-And no, we're not trying to straight-passing beacause we're afraid to come out as gay. Bisexuality exists and it's real;
-Bisexuals are often discriminated in and out the LGBTQ+ community, and it sucks because at least in the community we should support each other, only in this way we can really fight for our rights.

ANDROGYNE, INTERGENDER, INTERSEX
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ARE THEY THE SAME THING?
Obviously not, otherwise there would not be three different terms and flags to represent them!
WHAT HAVE THEY IN COMMON?
Those three have in common the fact that they're don't fit one single binary option, but they could be a blend of the two, in between them, or neither at all!
But let's go step by step:
WHAT IS INTERSEX?
Intersexuals are people born with primary and secondary sexual characteristics that do not fit into "male" or "female" because they can have traits of both.
An Intersex individual can have, of course, any gender identity and can physically transition.
At birth, however, doctors usually assign one of two binary options to the child, so intersex people could still be cisgender, even if it's a bit controversial. Some people, however, claim an identity that coincides with their biological characteristics which cannot be only "man" or "woman".
WHAT IS INTERGENDER?
There is therefore an exclusive gender identity for intersex people, called intergender (and this label falls under the nonbinary and transgender umbrellas). This defines the feeling of being in between male and female, or a mix of both. Do you notice anything familiar?
WHAT DOES ANDROGYNE HAVE TO DO IN ALL THIS?
Androgyne in the past was a term used to define intersex people (then also called hermaphrodite, but today it is outdated and also often considered offensive, so please if you know this term, I recommend replacing it with the word intersex). Today intersex people can call themselves androgynes, but this is not a label exclusive to the intersex community.
CONCLUSIONS
Androgyne, Intergender, and Intersex might seem like identities or words with similar meanings, but in reality they are all three different terms with different stories behind them. This is why it is important knowing how to distinguish them adequately, to respect the identities of all people! ^-^
