So it may or may not be disrespectful blowing out a candle. However, it is SAFER to snuff out the candle. Sometimes when a candle is blown out, the wax gets sprayed all over and causes a mess, sometimes burning people.

It's really up to you which one you'd like to do spiritually, but please keep safety in mind. It's not all candles and not every time, but it absolutely happens!

I have seen many magic practitioners online claim that blowing out candles is disrespectful or bad for your spells. often in videos warning baby witches or in the comments section of someone who blew out their candles.

Honestly, it's entirely up to the individual if they want to blow out their candles or snuff them out.

Not everyone's practice is based on the same beliefs or the same origins. Things like this are an individuals choice and shouldn't be pressured on to people.

Solar Eclipse:

The North American solar eclipse on April 8th happens during the new moon. It is a time of spiritual enlightenment, renewal, change, passion, motivation, and inspiration, and it reflects the duality of human nature. It is an energetic portal- so many things could change with this eclipse.

What can you do as a ritual?

In your space, you can use crystals that reflect these energies- Amethyst for heightened spiritual senses, selenite and clear quartz for cleansing and amplifying the effects of other crystals, obsidian for protection, and carnelian for creativity.

You can also set out water with the intention of creating eclipse water. This is different than sun water and moon water. This eclipse water will be able to assist in removing stagnant energy to create space for change to come in.

Another thing can be an intention ritual, one that would be similar to a new moon ritual. Write down your intentions for the new moon cycle. Once you write them down, you have the option to burn the paper to release those intentions into the universe (be careful with fire!). Meditation on these new intentions is also a great addition to the ritual.
