Today i will explain "WHAT IS THAT?!"

Exudate (or exudates) is a very general term given to all the fluids produced by acute or chronic wounds (so SH wounds are included) once the hemostatic phase is complete(process by which the human body stops bleeding). So it is a liquid that has oozed out of the blood vessels during the inflammatory phase, when the permeability of the latter increases. Its constitution is very similar to that of blood plasma. It contains various elements, including :

Water

Proteins

Electrolytes

Leukocytes

Proteolytic enzymes

Growth factors and waste products.

Its composition varies during the evolution of the wound. It is generally abundant and colonized in the debridement phase, except in cases of necrosis( so be careful) . It then dries up little by little during the granulation and then epidermization phases. Generally speaking, it is accepted that exudate contributes to healing by:

Preventing the drying of the wound bed promoting the migration of repair cells providing essential nutrients for cellular metabolism allowing the diffusion of growth and immunological factors contributing to the elimination of dead or damaged tissues (autolysis). However, exudate can become a problem for the patient or caregiver when the amount of fluid produced or its composition delays healing.

Exudado (o exudados) es un término muy general que se le da a todos los fluidos producidos por heridas agudas o crónicas ( se incluyen las heridas de AL)una vez completada la fase hemostática (proceso por el cual el cuerpo humano deja de sangrar). Se trata, pues, de un líquido que ha salido de los vasos sanguíneos durante la fase inflamatoria, cuando aumenta la permeabilidad de estos últimos. Su constitución es muy similar a la del plasma sanguíneo. Contiene varios elementos, entre ellos:

Agua

Proteínas

Electrolitos

Leucocitos

Enzimas proteolíticas

Factores de crecimiento y desechos.

Su composición varía durante la evolución de la herida. Generalmente es abundante y colonizado en fase de desbridamiento, salvo en casos de necrosis (así que cuidado). Sin embargo, el exudado puede convertirse en un problema para el paciente o el cuidador cuando la cantidad de líquido producido o su composición retrasa la curación.
