The doors of the operating room fade behind you as the anesthetic takes you under. The splitting pain dulls as you sink beneath the veil of artificial sleep. Laced within the clouds of your unconscious you hear the beeping of machines, the clinks of metal tools in the tray, and the deep voice of your unshakeable pest; Lloyd Hansen.
The dread and horror are equally muddled by the intravenous flow. You feel a distant tugging, a plucking deep within, and somewhere beyond, you hear squalling. You’re vaguely aware of the sudden weight taken from you, and that new one that settles in its place. Tight and tender.
You float back to the surface slowly. Wading up above the layers of oblivion until you hear that steady rhythm, feeling it in your chest. That incessant tempo of your pulse mirrored by a digital beep. You groan and suck back a dribble of drool along your lip.
A longer, louder noise rolls from your throat. The pain nips its way through and your lashes flutter lightly, giving short glimpses of the world that awaits you. You hear fussing, low whispers and the soft murmur that responds. Hushing and humming that draws you in.
“Grhhhhsh,” the gibberish slips from your lips and your hand bounces off the rail clumsily.
You open your eyes, vision fuzzy and ears thrumming. A shadow approaches as you turn your head, blinking as you try to see past the sheen of sleep. You smile dopily as your head swims. Your other hand lingers on your thigh and you cautiously feel higher; you’re now doughy where the flesh was once taught.
“Bay-bee,” you pronounce, “girl.”
“Ah, sweet cakes, yes, you have a beautiful daughter,” Dottie’s voice drips into your ears, comforting you as it pools in your chest, “she was just lookin’ for ya.”
“Dot,” you utter weakly.
“Yes’m,” she touches your arm gently, “you want the precious bean?”
“Dot,” you open and close your hand, reaching for her without finding her, “where… Lllllll.” you swallow and lean back heavily, “tired.”
“Here,” Dottie leaves you, returning in an orb of red and pink. She takes your arm and hooks it around the warm bundle she eases onto your chest, “there, there. Look at that cute little peach.”
You look down. You feel the tiny form squirm and your eyes pinpoint on her face. A baby. Your baby? Yes, your daughter. The girl without a name.
“Harlan’s just gone to get the nurse,” she comforts as she stays close, “we’re just waiting to get the paperwork done. She needs a name and all that.”
You stare at the infant. Your heart feels like iron. Still and cold. You curl your lip and turn your chin up.
“Take her,” you murmur.
“You okay, darling?” She rubs your shoulder.
“I said take it. Now,” you demand harshly, “I don’t… I can’t.”
“It’s alright,” Dottie lifts the child from your arm, “you been through a lot, we’ll just give you some time to get your bearings.”
You scowl and don’t say how you don’t think you’ll ever want to hold that thing again. The way it wriggles and whimpers, so quietly. It’s so light and small, it may as well be nothing.
“Well, whatcha wanna call her?”
“I don’t care,” you sniff, “ask him.”
“Well, we had some ideas but Marion didn’t say which he liked,” she explains as she lays the baby back in the small rolling crib.
“How about Marion? After the father?” You snap dryly.
“Hmm, I dunno,” Dottie hums, “you want some water, I got some here–”
“I don’t want to be here,” you retort and immediately cringe, “I’m… sorry, I’m just…”
There’s no way that baby is yours. You can’t remember anything more than the gripping agony in your gut. And now, the pain persists. All that and for what?
“I’m tired. Hurting,” you lie, only in that it’s not the reason you lashed out.
“Right, honey, that’s okay,” she assures once more.
“Just going to doing a check,” The nurse enters.
You glance up and see Harlan dip in behind her. You smile at him and search behind him, expecting another to follow. Nothing but an empty doorway.
“How’s the pain, scale of one to ten?” The nurse asks as she fiddles with your IV.
“Ten,” you grit out.
“Mmm, we’ll see what we can get you for that,” she says, “gotta make sure you’re able to feed your daughter.”
You frown. Feed? You look down at your swollen chest and moan at the fullness that throbs in your tits. Fuck.
“We can have an advisor come to help you with latching,” the nurse offers, “you should feed soon.”
“Fine,” you shrug. “When can I leave?”
“It’ll be a couple of days so we can keep an eye on your recovery. We’ll make sure you know the proper aftercare before you’re discharged.”
“Days?” You grumble.
“Yes, you have a new incision so you can’t be moving too much. Once you’re home, you’re going to be limited, no lifting, no strenuous activity…”
“Great,” you shake your head.
You stare at your body, deformed beneath the flannel blanket. You can feel it. You're totally ruined. You weren't ever a supermodel but the damage is done. Worn and loose and gross.
“Baby’s getting hungry,” Dottie says softly, “please send in the therapist so we can get her fed.”
You stay silent. The nurse leaves as you glare at the door. He has to show up any minute now.
“Where’s Ll–”
“Now we were just talking about names,” Dottie interjects, “Harley, why don’t you tell her the one you liked.”
“Oh, uh, hope I’m not to forward sayin’ so,” he says.
You look at him. Just say it. At this point, they can choose.
“I liked Luna,” Harlan says, “cause that little moonlight in her nursery, ya see… always liked the looka the moon.”
You nod. It’s pretty. You can’t think of much else and they definitely wouldn’t want you calling her the leech.
“I like Luna,” you agree flatly, “fine with me.”
“Well, that’s a nice name,” Dottie chimes, “yeah, Luna, it suits her. Shining and all.”
“Where is Lloyd?” You ask curtly.
Dottie smiles and looks at Harlan. His lips are straight and set. He swallows tightly.
“Now, hon, he… just went out to deal with some stuff, to make sure you can go home,” she explains, “I’m sure he’ll be back soon.”
“Oh.” You accept bluntly. “Right.”
“Too bad you didn’t see him,” she takes out her phone, “but I got a picture.” She holds up the screen to show you the image of Lloyd holding the bundle child. His eyes are wide as he stares at her. “Baby looks just like you, sweetheart.”
“Does i– she?” You ask.
“Well, I think so,” Dottie says, “but you know, babies always take after their daddies early on.”
You nod and play with the string of the linen gown. You watch the door. Waiting. This isn’t your mistake, it’s his.

Jaune's Sixth Sense: Pyrrha Addition
The highly unanticipated sequel to this post!
________________________________
Jaune and Pyrrha were hanging out in Jaune’s old room in Ansel. They were on break, and Jaune wanted to show his girlfriend the village where he was raised. Pyrrha was sitting on the surprisingly comfortable bed, looking at the wall covered with posters of rock bands and superheroes. Jaune was at his small bookshelf, picking something up. He walked towards the bed, and spoke.
“Pyrrha, you know how you asked me about my favorite fairytale a while ago?”
She looked at him. “I can recall that, yes”
Jaune handed her something. A book. “Well, this is it.”
The book in her hands was heavy, and red. There was an illustration on the cover, what seemed to be a knight in a field. The back had a very scary looking wolf on it. The cover had the book’s title in big, shiny letters. The Great Hunt. Pyrrha looked up at her lover, surprised.
“Jaune, this isn’t a fairytale. This is an epic poem.”
“Yeah, I know, but-”
Pyrrha was laughing now. “I had to read an excerpt from it in combat school, then write an essay about it!”
Jaune was laughing too. “Really? How’d you do?”
“I think I did okay. I don’t remember the exact grade. You probably could’ve done better.”
“Jeez, Pyrrha. My writing isn’t that good.”
Pyrrha had a serious look in her eyes. “Beloved, I got an eighty-six on the last essay Oobleck gave us.”
“Pyrrha…”
“You got one-hundred and ten. You got a perfect score with extra credit on an assignment that nearly everyone else failed. Even Weiss didn’t get a perfect score. Your writing is leagues better than mine will ever be. Now…”
She slammed her hands on the book on her lap. “Tell me about this!”
Jaune exhaled. “Alright. So, I think my mom read it to me as a bedtime story when I was three.”
Pyrrha stifled a laugh. “Really?! I’m pretty sure most parents would read their toddlers childrens books. Not millenia old poems about warriors fighting monsters.”
Jaune snorted. “My parents are not most parents.”
Pyrrha chuckled. “I can tell. Alright, continue.”
“When I was five, I started reading it by myself. I only had the first part, so I just read it over and over. My Dad bought me the rest of it, and I read that over and over. I actually would bring all three parts to school in my backpack. It was so heavy, my back started to hurt. So to stop me from getting permanent back issues, on my 9th birthday, my parents gave me this.” He picked up the book from Pyrrha’s lap. He looked at the cover, seemingly hypnotized by the shiny drawing.
“This is a collectors edition version of the whole poem. That’s why it’s so big, it’s all three parts of the story.”
“It looks amazing, Jaune.”
“I don’t know how many times I’ve read this whole poem. I’ve read it front to back, back to front. I’ve gone online and read analyses about it. I translated a part of it to Octavian (latin) once as a project. At one point, I even started writing essays about it in my spare time.”
Pyrrha was extremely surprised. “Really?”
“Yeah. I had to do an essay about it in middle school. I started and finished it in two days. I had to revise it twice because I kept going over the word limit.”
“Brothers, Jaune.”
“Yeah…”
They fell into a comfortable silence. Jaune felt a bit embarrassed. He liked writing, sue him. At least she didn’t see the typewriter he had under his bed. Or his journals. His many, many, journals.
Nobody could know about those.
Pyrrha then broke the silence. “Can I read it?”
“Of course. Let me clean up, this room is a mess.”
“Thank you beloved.” She gave him a chaste kiss, then opened the book.
As Pyrrha began reading, Jaune looked around the room for things to clean. Dirty clothes (how did he forget to put those away before he left?), music magazines, comic books, and… his bible.
Well, his grandma’s bible to be precise. It was white, covered with a thick layer of dust. He hasn’t read any religious text in a while. His mind swirled with memories. Memories of reading with his grandparents. Memories of church, of sermons. Memories of prayer, and chanting. But his thoughts were interrupted by a sound most horrible.
RIP
His mind went blank. His vision, going dark.
Pyrrha was horrified. How could she do this? Ripping one of her beloved’s most prized possessions, after he most graciously gave it to her to read. What was wrong with her? She had to apologize. But before she could even mutter the words “I’m sorry,” she heard something fall to the ground.
THUMP
She looked up to see Jaune standing before his bookcase, completely still. There was a white book near his feet.
“Jaune? Jaune, are you okay?”
No response.
“Beloved?”
Jaune turned around, and started walking towards the bed.
“Jaune, I didn’t mean to tear your book. I’m so sorry.”
Jaune got his knees on his bed. He took the book out of her hands, and put it on the nightstand to the right of his bed.
“Jaune, are you okay? I’m sor-MMMMMPH?! MMMmmm, mmmmhhh~.”
All thoughts had left Pyrrha’s head, as she was pulled in for a searing kiss!  Jaune had her pinned, holding her hands above her head. He wasn’t usually this forward in his affection. Jaune was a shy lover, always nervous, always asking. Today, however, he wasn’t asking, he just took. And Pyrrha didn’t mind that one bit.
Hours later…
Jaune woke up sweaty. His head was pounding. What happened? All he could remember was giving Pyrrha The Great Hunt, then cleaning up his room, then… nothing. It was dark out now. How long has he been out? He looked down on himself, and noticed something. He was naked. Completely naked. He gave a shriek of surprise, and then something to the right of him moved.
“Beloved… Just five more minutes…”
It was Pyrrha, also naked, completely passed out. She was a mess. Her hair was out of its usual ponytail. She was sweaty, and breathing heavily. And she was covered in… fluids…
What the hell happened?

Appetite for Love
Tumblr media
summary: Sometimes all you need to break the silence is to break bread with someone. a/n: Annoying someone into confessing their feelings is probably the funniest accomplishment. warnings: fluff
Nanami's forehead throbs as he spies through the peephole of his door. You're standing in front of his door, holding up your arm up in a halfhearted wave, and with the other (very much broken) arm, you balance a bag of pastries from his favorite bakery. There is a very small masochistic part of Nanami that wants to find out how on Earth your mind figured that balancing a bag filled to the brim with pastries on a sling would work but he needs to pick his battles.
You rap on the door again and stand on the tips of your toes, leaning into the door. His breath hitches and the only reason Nanami can't hear his heart in his throat is because of the loud crinkling of your paper bag. He still feels it. He definitely feels it but it's easier to dismiss one sense rather than two.
 "Nanamin," you call.
Nanami opens the door, planning to tell you to stop calling him that and shut the door in your face to punctuate his point. Instead, you shoulder past him, making a beeline for his coffeemaker. For once, you have the decency to bring your own hot cocoa.
He shuts the door and sighs, "Your mug is on the top shelf on the right."
"Thanks," your face crunches. Nanami resists a smile. "Evil," you mutter, getting on the tips of your toes. Again, he tries not to smile as you struggle. He waits a few seconds before helping, leaning over your body with your back pressed to his chest, the pulse point on his wrist brushing against the back of your hand as he reaches for it.
It's brief. The moment lasts the length of a breath but both of you linger on the touch.
It's Nanami who pulls away, feeling the fluttering in his chest. He stamps it out. It's easy. He only has to remind himself that you're the idiot using your sling to carry bread.  He plucks the bag out of your sling, picking through it.
He side-eyes you. You smile innocently.
"Did you buy every type of bread they had?"
"Not      every     bread. Just the essentials," you shrug.
He holds up the turtle-shaped. "Like I said, essential," you shrug. Nanami's face sours which you respond to by beaming at him more brightly. "In my defense—"
"The fact that you have one..."
You blow his statement off. "With all the missions we've been on and all the weird things that have been happening lately, it's... been awhile since we had our," you pause, the word 'our' rolling off your tongue too easily for comfort, " the bread thing."
Just a little while since he'd made his discovery.
"Besides, you said you wanted to read the sequel to A Memory Called Empire so..." From within your sling (God, Nanami's headache is slowly turning into an aneurysm), you produce a book. "It just came out recently and I figured you'd want a crack at it."
"That's not what a sling is used for," he says because that's A) what he's hung up on and B) the only thing he can think of saying to you right now.
You roll your eyes, "You sound like Shoko-senpai. Lighten up, Nanamin."
Yes, that headache is definitely leveling up to an aneurysm. "Do I have to go over how you have to listen to medical advice?"
 Again.
"I don't see the point but if it makes you feel any better, sure." You shove the book in his chest then just to make it obvious you weren't going to listen you turn to the coffee maker to put you hot cocoa in.
He lectures you anyway but you snort and tell him you're the last person who needs to hear it. He stares at your back. There's a stutter in your movements. Quiet gasps of pain under your breath. Your ribs must be broken and it occurs to him
You remind him of an injured rabbit.
He reaches out but draws his hand back.
You're both sat on the couch discussing Imago machines from A Memory Called Empire— their uses and the ethics of implanting someone else's knowledge, memories, and consciousness into someone else. With his third beer can rolling in his palm, Nanami approaches it with an air of pragmatism, pointing out the usefulness of being able to pass on not only skills but information. Your stance on the matter is a little less pragmatic and more dominated by discomfort.
He considers this, sliding the pad of his index finger against the rim of the can, watching your lips move as they shape the words.
 Nanamin.
 Nanamin.
 Nanamin.
A small thread of irritation threatens to unravel his concentration. He threads his hand through his hair, lulling his head back. He slings his arm over his eyes. The faint buzz of the alcohol thrumming under his skin.
"Nanamin," you call him again, putting your hand on his arm, leaning in to check if there's anything wrong. Your face is so close to his. Your breath ghosting over his cheek sending shivers rippling across his skin.  "Nanamin, are you ok?"
He squints at you, the smudge of cream accenting the downturned corner of your lips, and blames the alcohol for what he does next.
 It isn't a rushed movement.
A slow stroke of your cheek leads to his hand cradling one side of your face tenderly, palm warming your skin, thumb brushing away the cream. Nanami leans in, his face close to yours, leaving enough distance for you to feel the heat radiating from his skin. You let out a stuttered breath but you don't pull away. You lean in. Sliding your hand from his arm to his chest, you grip his shirt with a clammy hand, drawing in close enough that your lips touch without kissing. It's little more than a twitch but that's all the confirmation he needs.
When your lips meet, it's a sunburst— a slow, thick burn decadent with tenderness seeping through every careful movement.  Nanami smiles into the kiss. Your lips are sticky and soft, shaped like they were made for kissing. They are part of you. They are you and precious thereby.
Despite how often they're pressed into sharp, angled lines, Nanami's lips fit perfectly against yours, the fault lines between the two of you melting away.
Nanami takes his time with you, catching your bottom lips between his. It's glazed with sugar and trembles when his hand moves to cup your jaw. You both shut your eyes, opting to let yourselves feel each other's lips.  All the fear and shyness and anxiety fade into fizzing sparkles, giving way to something else nestled in his chest.
You're dizzy by the time you let each other go. You're both panting, your lips still close enough to exchange breaths.
With your jaw still cupped in his hand, he tilts your face up to meet his eyes.
"Stop calling me Nanamin. For you, it's Kento."

I come into your inbox bearing one free ticket 🎫 to gush over any f/o of choice :3 (or all of them if you prefer as well~)
I ACTUALLY HAVE L I S T S. ON MY NOTES APP XD LET ME JUST GO AND REFRESH MYSELF XD Haha. Gushing commences down below XD
Cruella De Vil (SPECIFCALLY 1996)- The only person real or fictional I would ever marry!
First of all I just love the way she talks! She uses words like 'squander' and 'sycophant' and aghh I love it. And this quote??- 'More good women have been lost to marriage then to war, famine, disease and disaster'. This is the line that first got me interested in her. Like... its extreme (Of course women can be married and still be powerful and amazing as hell) but there is truth to it and I love a mean old woman who's not afraid at all to say it.
Tumblr media
Her HAIR. Its just perfect!! It looks so soft and fluffy and? the colour and the volume?? How??? It is iconic and I love drawing it, looking at it, thinking about playing with it... XD Its just great, alright?
How sorry she was about Anita's pregnancy 😅😅😅 Babe same. I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I got pregnant I would want people to respond the same way 😅😅😅 That's just personal thing, of course, I know most people would be happy to be with baby and wish to be congratulated but hey- that's why she's my f/o XD
I'm oddly obsessed with the sound her teeth make on her cigarette stick??? XDD Its just- I don't know. One of those things that's kinda satisfying for me ! 😂
Red. Lipstick.
She doesn't pull punches and I love writing for characters like that ^^ You get what you see with her.
Jim Bickerman- My main F/O!!
Alright first of all- I just feel like he's a perfect combination of all the kinds of characters I like! XD 1. Sleaze, 2. Crazy old man 3. Antagonist.
The f l a n n e l s. I-
Its just-
They look so good that's all I'm gonna say XD
A small detail I noticed that I like?? He has band aids on his fingers in Final Chapter. And I just wonder if, behind the scenes, the costume designer decided Jim was accident prone and constantly covered in band aids or if that was an Englund add XD Either way I just think its neat for a low budget campy creature feature sequel XD
Tumblr media
Messy beard.
OKAY BUT?? HIS TALKING?? The line 'Come to Daddy you little bitch'?? That wry chuckle and 'Heh, whadaya mean?' all-too-innocent after someone asks him where the hell he's taking them?? Using 'clicks' as a measurement of distance? 💙 The fact that he calls himself a 'greedy old fart' as well as a 'cripple'? 😅
HE HAS REDEEMABLE QUALITIES. WHICH IS A NEW ONE FOR ME XD He respects his mother ('Mrs Bickerman wasnt a very good housekeeper' // 'Hey. That's no way to talk about the dead, son'), he is apparently against stealing (When a woman in Vs Anaconda suggests they take a boat he's very serious in telling her that doesn't belong to us), yes he was very creepy with that one girl in Final Chapter but he did not go to touch her at all which I think is pretty good compared to some other Englund characters 😅 as well as other F/O's of mine (Past or present), he was semi-nice to Max, etc.
His reaction to getting a gun pulled on him will never not be my favourite XD Like 'oh for gods sake, this again?'. And- you can see- he is almost laughing!
Tumblr media
Also- I BET he could build a campfire. And that?? I don't know why but??? That is TOP TIER for me. I just-... oooffffffffffffffffffffff. Just 👌 Haha XD Where did my underwear go??-
Otis B Driftwood: I dunno, he's just... very comforting to me??? Ahhhhhhh.
I think its been very well established by now I love characters that don't hold back. They're brutally honest- usually in a mean, cruel way. Cruella De Vil is one, Slenderman is another, and Otis is one too. Maybe I just like that I always have that option?; not the killing or being mean obviously, but that just being grumpy instead of forcing a smile on is there as choice if I need it. I used to go into a 'Slenderman persona' when I had an oral presentation in school?? 😂😂😂 Which just means I was able to be still. I wasn't worried about what anyone else thought cuz who cares what they think, 'I hate them all anyway' (Which was of course not true, it was just apart of the 'persona' 😅). Otis is a riff off of that time in my life, I think XD 😅 When I'm having a bad day nowadays and I'm still forced to be out and about I might start thinking a bit snarky like him 😅😅😅 I know, I have some off defense mechanisms.
ANYWAY- he's absolutely rot incarnate and that is why you watch the movies XD He's a like a train wreck. You cant look away.
HIS SPEECHES!! Oh my lord. I love that that's how we were introduced to him- with him ranting to some kidnapped teenagers about a 'conformist world' and 'this culture of mechanical reproductions'. Ohhhhh boy XD
Somehow?? He seems to get... healthier?? With age??? What is this Benjamin Button nonsense?? XDD He has definitely made a deal with the devil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks so cuddly in his overalls in the 3rd movie 😂😂😂 And he has no right!-
Just the fact that when one guy, Virgil, was worried if he went and broke Otis' sister out of prison as per Otis demand then she would kill him (Virgil), Otis was like *sigh* 'okay, I'll write you a note.'. Like a parent saying his kid doesn't have to do P.E today??? XDD
Professor Callahan (SPECIFICALLY THEMICHAEL RUPERT MUSICAL VERSION.):
He. SINGS. Whoever said musical theatre kids aren't hot have clearly not seen what they can turn into. Goddamn.
youtube
His voice in general ahhhhhhhhh. I wanted him to degrade me at first, admittedly XDD But now I want praise. And degradation actually. BOTH! And its not the actors real voice, either, I saw a video on Tik Tok of Rupert and he was talking completely different- then at the end abruptly PUT ON HIS CALLAHAN VOICE FOR A LAST LINE and ohhh BOY I was finished. XD
Oh my goodness, he yanked my dormant teacher/professor kink back to life by its ankles!-
That was my first kink and honestly I'm pleased to see it back 😂😂
The fact that they made the character so much worse in the musical??? Like in the movie (Victor Garber ver.) he's kind of likeable at the start, making a joke or two to release the tension in his classroom- but THIS version is like crush grandma so we can get laid IMMEDIATELY!! G o d. I love villains. And he is a classic case of no-holds-barred, black and white, Disney Villain-esque, walks-off-chuckling bastardry and I love it.
'Or is that unfair?- OH WAIT, I don't care'.
Ahhh!, his face after he sniffs Elle's resume!! Its so cute I love it XD

Chapter Fourteen: The Partnership
Tumblr media
Sitting around Joyce’s coffee table were the five kids on the floor, Nancy, Jonathan and Joyce on the couch across from them, and Hopper sitting just behind El in an armchair. Currently, Mike was explaining the science of their current situation with the same diagram Mr Clarke had made at Will’s funeral. “Okay, so, in this example, we’re the acrobat,” His finger that was pointing to the stick figure then moved over to the small drawing of the bug. “Will and Barbara, and that monster, they’re this flea. And this is the Upside Down, where Will is hiding,” He motioned to the space below the tightrope before setting the paper down. “Mr Clarke said the only way to get there is through a rip of time and space.”
“A gate.” Dustin nodded.
“That we tracked to Hawkins Lab.” Lucas added.
“With our compasses.”
When the three on the couch stared at them in confusion, Doc decided to explain, “The direction of our compass needles were changed to that of the gate’s due to its strong electromagnetic field.”
She was nearly scared out of her skin when Hopper suddenly spoke behind her. “Is this gate underground?”
“Yes.” Eleven quietly answered.
“Near a large water tank?”
“Yes.”
Doc blinked. “You saw it.” She whispered, Hopper’s intense stare switching from El to her. She didn’t know how she felt about that. Had Hopper been sneaking around Hawkins Lab and finding out information about the gate, was there a chance he had any idea about her? About where she came from? About what she is? She hoped to god he didn’t, but the way he stared at her, as if he were trying to figure her out, said that he had seen enough to at least be skeptical of her.
After their small stare-down, Joyce leaned forward to speak to El. “Is there any way that you could… that you could reach Will? That you could talk to him in this-”
“The Upside Down.”
“Down. Yeah.”
El nodded before Nancy spoke, “And my friend Barbara? Can you find her, too?”
Doc had forgotten this entire time that she was clutching El’s hand for comfort until the girl squeezed hers tight, either in reciprocated comfort or nerves, she didn’t know.
Now, everyone was gathered around the dining table. Will’s walkie was switched to a channel that only had static. It’s what El required to listen to as she tried to find them, much like with the Heathkit. Nancy had given her a picture of Barbara so El knew who to look for. She hadn’t asked for anything else, so everyone decided to wait, watching her carefully as she closed her eyes.
Doc knew that El was struggling, for the pain in her temple came in waves. It would sharply stab her in the side of her head when El forced herself, then would fade to a dull throb when she would get tired. Doc tried to play off the cradling of her head by propping her elbow on the table and resting her head in her hand. El advised that she sit down for this, for she knew the use of her powers drained Doc. After a few minutes of sitting in silence, save for the white noise of the static, the light above them flickered just before El opened her eyes.
“I’m sorry.” She whispered, eyes glossy.
Joyce widened her eyes. “What? W-W-What’s wrong? What ha- What happened?”
“I can’t find them.” Her voice broke. Jonathan let go of his mother’s hand as the woman nearly broke down. El couldn’t take the disappointment on everyone’s faces and quietly asked Doc where the bathroom was. Without another word, Doc shakily stood and directed her friend to the bathroom. To her surprise, El shut the door on her. She knew the girl was upset with herself, embarrassed that she had confidently told everyone she could find them only to come up with nothing.
Sighing, Doc returned to the dining room to find everyone leaned against the table, quietly talking. They were all discussing El’s powers, what happens to her when she uses them, and answering questions the teens and adults threw at them. Doc hadn’t joined in the conversation, for her mind was somewhere else.
She could reach into the depths of her mind and find a handful of glimpses of memories from her time in the lab. She never remembered El, never remembered anyone like herself. As far as she knew, she was the only person in the building. Ever. She hadn’t even known she was living in a lab during that time until she met El. Until she showed up, Doc had never found a reason to think about her past unless her memories came in nightmare form.
Now that she thought about it, though, she remembered a time when Sonia had asked her to find someone. The memory was faint when Hopper had mentioned the water tank, and she had pushed it away from her mind as soon as it came. But thinking about it now, she could remember a time when she was plunged into actual darkness. It was cold, it was wet. There were no sights, no sounds. Just her and the sensation of floating. As if they wanted her to drown out everything around her in order to focus. Just as she had the epiphany, El had spoken up beside her, startling her greatly.
“The bath.”
“What?” Joyce and the others turned to them.
“I can find them. In the bath.”
Doc decided to input her knowledge when El was met with confused silence. “Sensory deprivation,” She gained everyone’s attention. “It’s basically reducing the function of your senses. That means you can’t see, you can’t hear. In some cases, you can’t feel.”
“So that water tank…” Hopper started, giving her that same stare from before. Doc gulped.
“It was a sensory deprivation tank. M-Most likely.”
“Well, how do we make one?” Mike asked.
“I-I don’t know.” Doc was increasingly becoming overwhelmed with the amount of attention she was getting on the subject. Luckily, El was right there to hold her hand. This time, Doc allowed the slight pain in her head with a small smile to the girl. El returned the smile just as Dustin snapped his fingers.
“We know someone who might.”
After listening to Dustin speak on the phone with Mr Clarke as he jotted down the details he received, the group immediately planned everything they needed to build the tank. Joyce already had the kiddie pool El would be in, so all they would need were hoses to get the water into the pool and salt to increase the density of water (Doc kicked herself for not thinking of that). Luckily, the Chief knew just where the de-icing salt was kept at Hawkins Middle School for the wintertime. Since Dustin claimed they needed fifteen hundred pounds of it. So, with the two vehicles they had, the entire group booked it to the school and split up in teams of four to get everything done.
Hopper and Jonathan gathered the salt, Mike and Nancy got the hoses, Lucas and Dustin put up the pool, and Joyce and Doc helped prepare El for her journey into the Upside Down. Doc had just given Joyce the duct tape she found to put over the goggles El was going to wear, and was going to get a towel for after the girl’s journey, when she overheard the conversation between the two.
“You’re a very brave girl. You know that, don’t you? Everything you’re doing for my boy… for Will… for my family… Thank you. Listen. I am gonna be there with you the whole time. And if it ever gets too scary… in- in that place, you just let me know, okay?”
There was a bit of silence before Doc heard her friend’s voice, “Doc?”
“(Y/N)? What about her?”
“I-I want her in the bath… with me. I need her.”
She felt her heart sink. While Doc could never remember successfully accomplishing anything in the sensory deprivation tank all those years ago, she still felt a sense of fear doing anything related to her powers in front of everyone. Especially with Hopper already suspicious of her.
“Oh, I’m sure she won’t mind that. She’s a very caring girl and I’m sure she’d be right by your side for this, okay?”
“Okay.”
But she couldn’t let El do this alone. Whether or not she could access the Upside Down with her. If she was what would bring El comfort in this scary time for her, she would do it without hesitation. It was the sisterly thing to do, after all. And they were sisters.
Coming back with what she ventured out for, she watched El straighten up and Joyce give her a tight smile. Doc returned it and brushed her fingers against El’s shoulder. “Hey,” She softly called. “I got us towels. For when we get out.”
“Us?” El looked up at her in curiosity.
“Yeah. I’ll be right there with you. Even if I can’t be in there with you.” Doc side-hugged her friend as Joyce’s smile became softer.
“Oh, thank you for that, (Y/N).”
Doc only nodded, hoping to god this wouldn’t kill her.
-------------------------------------------------
By the time the three of them entered the gymnasium, the “tank” or “bath” was ready. Doc couldn’t tell if she or El were producing more sweat in their clammy handhold, but it was nice to know they were sharing the nerves. Once they approached the pool, El let go of her hand to start removing her shoes and socks. Doc let the static of Will’s walkie pair with the beating of her heart drumming in her ears. She stuffed her shaking hands into the pockets of her overalls as El removed the watch Mike had given her and returned it to him, just before Joyce handed her the goggles. El placed them on her face before Joyce and Hopper gently helped her into the pool.
El hadn’t even sat down yet when she held her hand out. “Doc.”
Doc felt all eyes on her as her mouth ran dry. She couldn’t verbally respond, for the only sound that left her lips was a shaky sigh. Everyone in the room gazed at her in confusion, besides Joyce, who gave her a nod of encouragement. Gulping, Doc bent down and quickly began untying the laces of her skates. She didn’t want to waste any more time with her fear and hesitance that she thought she wouldn’t be using in this situation.
Once feet were bare, Hopper gently held her hand as she stepped into the pool. The two girls clasped hands tightly after he let go of her, as if in fear they’d lose each other in the Upside Down, and sat together in the water. When they were on their backs, their bodies floated side-by-side. Doc had wished she made herself a pair of those goggles, but she supposed closing her eyes would have to suffice.
The room fell into silence, save for the white noise of the static and the occasional swish of the water surrounding them. Doc could faintly remember a time when Sonia would tell her to count backwards in hopes of calming herself down, to focus. To feel everything drift away, the only sense of mind being El’s hand tightly clasped in hers. To let the nothingness swallow her until the only people in the world were her and El.
“Doc.”
Opening her eyes, she was met with El standing before her. She blinked a few times to make sure she hadn’t fallen asleep in saltwater and was now dreaming. But Doc knew that couldn’t be it. She knew this place. Once, in a dream. Or at least what she always thought was a dream. The Void. “We’ve met here. Haven’t we?”
El nodded. “Yes.”
“You were crying for help.”
“You, too.”
Shaking her head, Doc looked beyond her friend and into the Void. She wasn’t sure exactly what they were supposed to be looking for in this empty space until she realized it wasn’t entirely empty.
“Barb…?”
Doc wasn’t sure what she was covered in, but she recognized Barbara anywhere. This, however, wasn’t a state she ever wanted to recognize her sister’s best friend in. Barbara’s corpse stared forward with half-lidded eyes. Her skin was dangerously pale, her eyes with dark circles and her lips blue. Doc felt bile rise in her throat as she watched a slug-like creature slink its way out of her mouth.
“Barb? Oh, god, Barb, no.” She sank down to her knees as tears rushed down her face. She couldn’t take her eyes off of the horrifying display before her, and she was sure nightmares of this would come for days on end. She hadn’t even realized she was slipping out of focus until she heard El’s muffled cries behind her. Spinning around, she remembered who she was even here for in the first place.
Her cries of ‘gone’ pierced her eardrums the more she came back into focus. When she got feeling in her legs again, she launched herself up and sprinted to El, engulfing the girl in a tight hug. Her screams quieted into small whimpers as Doc whispered to her. “It’s okay. I got you. I’m so sorry I left. I’m so sorry. I’m here now, I’m here. I got you, El, I got you. I got you and I love you, okay?”
El closed her eyes and breathed steadily as she let Doc’s words move through her. Her hold and soft whispers felt so homely, like that was all she needed in that moment. Doc didn’t let go of her until El opened her eyes again. The two faced each other with small smiles as Doc laced her fingers with El. “Ready?”
El nodded before her eyes caught something behind Doc’s shoulder. Turning around, her eyes widened at what appeared in the Void. “Castle Byers.” The name of Will’s hideout fell from her mouth in a hopeful whisper before the two of them took cautious steps toward the run-down-horror-movie version of what once contributed to Doc’s wholesome childhood memories. The closer they got to the sheet that acted as the door, Doc couldn’t seem to move, as if the uncertainty of Will being there or not was keeping her rooted to the ground. El looked over her shoulder at her friend with a questioning gaze.
“Are you okay?”
“Y-Yeah, I just… I-I don’t know if I…”
At her hesitation, El tugged her forward with a nod. “I got you… and I love you…” She whispered, offering a small smile. Doc instantly made eye contact with her and returned the smile the best she could. Feeling the grip on her hand tighten, El nodded again. “Ready?”
Doc swallowed. “Ready.”
And with that, El led them into Castle Byers. The interior was just as horrifying as the exterior. Everything Doc knew and loved about the place was still there, but it was much darker, much colder, just as Will had described the entirety of the Upside Down. Doc wasn’t sure just why, but the unsettling feeling of the Upside Down was… anything but unsettling. She knew this place was bad, but it was familiar. She was certain that if she had ever been here before, it wouldn’t be something she’d forget.
Doc wasn’t prepared to see Will as suddenly as she did. Dropping her eyes to the ground, she saw the boy she cared so deeply for, lying on the ground in a heap. He was wearing the exact same clothes he wore the last time she saw him, but his skin was paler, his lips were blue, and he looked so very exhausted. Still, even in the state he was in, Doc was overjoyed to see him. She couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down her face as she and El knelt in front of him. “Will…?”
Reaching her hand out, Doc let it softly brush his very cold cheekbone. That seemed to wake him a bit as he creaked his eyes open. “(Y/N)?” He weakly muttered. Doc tearfully chuckled out of sheer relief and happiness. Her hand was immediately in his, lacing their fingers together.
“Yes,” She sniffled. “It’s me, Will. It’s (Y/N).”
“You tell him… tell him I’m coming. Mom is coming.”
Joyce’s echoing voice nearly startled Doc out of her skin. A second later, El leaned forward and took his other hand into hers. “Your mom… she’s coming for you.”
“That’s right, yeah. We’ve all been searching for you like crazy, Will,” Doc leaned closer and kissed his freezing cheek. “We’re coming for you.”
“Hu… Hu… Hurry.”
El nodded before repeating what Joyce told her to say, “Just… Just hold on a little longer.”
When he didn’t verbally respond, Doc’s smile disappeared. “Will? Will, can you hear us? Will!” She panicked before El set a hand on her arm, whispering her name out in fear. Looking up, she noticed that their surroundings were fading away. She wasn’t sure what that meant, but her panic worsened when she realized Will would be going as well. Snapping her gaze down, she got a glimpse of Will’s resting face just before he faded from her touch. “No. No, Will!” She felt El’s arms wrap around her shoulders from behind as she curled into a sobbing ball.
When Doc opened her eyes, she was back in the school gymnasium. Lunging forward, she didn’t let anyone talk to her or touch her as she hastily climbed out of the pool. Her wet feet smacked against the ground as she stumbled as far away from the pool as she could, her entire form shaking from the water that dripped down her body. She didn’t know that everyone had seen her red eyes and black veins popping out of her head, but at this point, she couldn’t have kept it a secret for much longer.
“Doc?” She heard Mike’s voice behind her as well as his shoes squeaking against the floor as he rushed after her. When she only continued to aimlessly walk away from him, he quickened his pace so he could circle in front of her, stopping her in her tracks with his hands on her shoulders. “Doc, wait, stop, hold on! Are you okay?”
Mike’s heart broke at his sister’s face scrunched up in anguish. Her bloodshot eyes darted around his face as she slowly shook her head. Mike let her bury her face into his chest as she cried, the boy resting a hand on the back of her head. “I saw him, Mike,” She sobbed. “I saw Will.”
Once he led his sister to the bleachers and managed to pry her away from his chest, Mike sat her down and wrapped one of the towels around her body, rubbing her arms through the fabric in an attempt to warm her up. On her other side, Dustin plopped down and gently hugged her. She accepted the comfort and leaned into his touch as Mike sat down between her and El, the latter receiving a towel from Lucas as she rested her head on Mike’s shoulder.
After the initial shock of everything that happened dissipated, Mike suddenly came to the realization that Doc was like El. At first, he had assumed that Doc was in that pool as a comfort for El, but when he heard her speaking, whispering Will and Barbara’s name, hearing Will respond to her through the walkie… Well, he sure understood the situation now. It also explained her odd behavior, her passing out, her immediate connection with El (he assumed it was because El is a girl), the absolute mystery of where she even came from in the first place. He didn’t see it coming, but he knew it now. Even so, he wanted to hear it from her.
“(Y/N)... You’re like Eleven,” He turned his head to his sister, who lifted her head up. “You’re from the lab.”
Doc didn’t immediately respond, only swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat. What would he do if he knew? She was certain he already did, but he was asking for a reason. Would he think she was terrible? Would he love her less? Cast her aside? Would she no longer be his sister? That was the last thing she ever wanted. Becoming a Wheeler was one of the best things to ever happen to her.
“Doc,” El whispered, grabbing her attention. Her frightened eyes locked on El as she exhaled. “You have to tell them.”
Nodding absently, Doc looked into Mike’s eyes, tears in both pairs already. “Yes,” She croaked. “I’m like El. I broke the fence at school. I dismantled that van… I have powers. I wasn’t just some random lost girl at a park. I’m sorry, Mike…”
The Wheeler boy wasn’t sure exactly how to respond besides with a nod to indicate he heard her. But he knew one thing for certain; he still loved his sister. And, if anything, this only made him love her more.

Do Oemmet and Yingo ever try to do sexy time together again after the first instance? How long does it take Oemmet to be comfortable and confident enough to try knowing Yingo’s live for him? Does Yingo at the time feel like Oemmet doesn’t love him?
Yes, they do figure out stuff after some time. I have some comic ideas about their relationship and some of the comics are sexual. I'm busy with work so I have no idea when I'll get to drawing these, so I will at least put the ideas out here.
A sequel to crying Yingo comic - This sequel would be about Oemmet finding out about this. They have fights on occasion where they both usually walk it off and deal with it privately.
They sleep together in bed for the first time - they've actually been sleeping separately for a bit. They both have fears about not being enough, but after some talk they decide to just do it.
Oemmet completely undresses in front of Yingo for the first time - he doesn't really have much issue with his body or age - it's more of the vulnerability and intimacy of it. Yingo feels disappointed because he has some flashes of their casualness about nudity around each other but he doesn't push Emmet.
They have a frisky little dalliance in their office - this one is a little special so I won't spoil it
Oemmet fixes Yingo up - this one is also special but in a small way so I won't say more.
I don't think i've exactly thought of any special "thing" where they attempt sex again. Just that in later comics they've already had sex and have been doing it with some frequency.
I think it takes a bit for them. I don't really have a specific number of months or years. But their relationship rebuilding takes its sweet time. I think for Oemmet specifically after being overwhelmed in some instances, and with Yingo allowing him some space to process it, Oemmet himself tries smaller gestures of affection for Yingo.
I think Yingo is very anxious about being the right Ingo, or the Ingo that Oemmet remembers. I do think he wants to hear it and that it's reassuring the more Oemmet opens up with him. I think that what Yingo feels is that he has to do something right so that he will fit in better with Oemmet. That's his insecurity.

Paradiso 8 aka the one where *Simon* punches Gabriele D’Annunzio
Summaty: Again, what the title says, loves.
As always 😘 to @martsonmars. A sequel to Paradiso 6  aka the one where Baz punches Gabriele D’Annunzio. Where is Paradiso 7 you might ask? Great question!
--
2048
SIMON
“Three time’s the charm,” Rosemary casts. Her necklace is dangling from her hand, since Rosemary found out that that makes channeling her magic easier. (It does look more comfortable than her craning her neck all the time.)
The spell hits Baz and he shudders.
Great.
“Are you sure about this, love?” Baz asks me.
“You started it!” I say back.
“Dads, please,” Rosemary rolls her eyes. She once again looks like she’s regretting this. At least this time, Baz and I were very upfront about our plans. My plans.
My plans to revive Gabriele D’Annunzio again.
Rosemary then pointed out that this will be the third time that Baz will bring this guy back from the dead, so she decided to cast a Three time’s the charm on him to make his spellwork better. She’s dropped all pretenses of academic interest. She’s upfront about the fact that she wants to see this unfold. She’s only a bit annoyed by my reasoning behind this plan.
I need this to work.
Jealousy isn’t my strongest suit. I know this is petty and unreasonable. I can handle Baz joking about D’Annunzio being his good friend, but I draw the line at Baz calling D’Annunzio ‘the love of his life’, even when it’s in jest.
So, now I am the one punching him.
“Alright, Snow?” Baz asks me again.
I nod. Rosemary sighs and I hear her mutter “I never should’ve moved to Pescara” under her breath.
Baz points his wand towards the floating book in front of him. The book is showing the same photo of D’Annunzio like before.
“La morte una cosa che non si pu fare due volte,” Baz casts and yeah, D’Annunzio really changed this by dying three times already. We’re adding a fourth one.
Is this ethical?
Probably not, but I need to do this.
Like the previous two times, a red spark bounces off the book onto the floor. The spark grows and slowly morphes into a human form. I know what’s coming next, so I look away. I am not a vampire, so I cannot handle this burst of light, but my husband and daughter have already described this ‘portal’ in great detail for me.
When the light dies down, a very alive Gabriele D’Annunzio is standing in our lounge. He’s befuddled.
Unfortunately for him, and fortunately for us, D’Annunzio doesn’t remember the other two revivals, so I get a kick out of asking “Signore D’Annunzio?” with a mischievous smile.
He looks confused and slightly afraid, but he eventually nods.
He’s about to say something, I take one step towards him and punch him in the face.
“Lui è mio marito. He’s mine!” I yell for good measure.
Rosemary knows it was coming, but she still lets out a surprised grunt and Baz slaps his forehead.
Before D’Annunzio’s mind fully catches up with what the fuck just happened, Baz points his wand and at him and quickly say: “Uomo morto non fa guerra!”
The three of us watch how D’Annunzio pops out of existence.
“Did that feel good?” Baz asks after a small beat of silence.
I nod. I breathe heavily. I had no idea how intense this would be for me.
Did I ask my husband to temporarily revive an Italian poet who died in 1938 just to punch him because of petty, unreasonable jealousy? Yes, I did. It definitely felt good.
“Oh mio dio,” Rosemary sighs, “At this rate we’ll have to revive him again so that I can punch him.”
Baz and I share a look.
Rosemary notices and her eyes widen.
“Oh, no, no, no, dads, this is not happening,” she says. She turns on her heel and walks out before we can persuade her to do it.
Baz shrugs.
“We’ll keep it in mind.”
I nod.
“Yes, this is basically a family tradition. One day, Rosemary will punch him as well.”
“Can’t wait for it.”
--
End notes: You’ve heard of our good friend Jonathan Harker, so meet our good friend Gabriele D’Annunzio. This man keeps popping up everywhere, so when Marta joked that Baz calls him “the love of his life”, this happened.
Tumblr media
Also, Marta, I hope that Google Translate was accurate with the basic bitch Italian phrases, since I didn’t want to ask you and spoil the (hopeful) element of surprise.

The Joy of Running Out
Let’s pick up like old friends…
I’m not sure these days how many people read blogs, so I’ll write for myself and let you read. 😉
My art and materials have changed since we last spoke. I’ve shifted to coloring my own drawings, and messy collage work in my art journals. The imagery and details have deeper meaning — I referenced one in my last therapy appointment to the delight of my therapist.
When I started creating art, it was a struggle to translate my emotions from words — which was my primary way of expressing myself — to images. When you pick up art later in life, after college, there’s a learning curve. Composition. Color. Line. Medium. Substrate. I feel my early days was me throwing whatever made me smile at the page and seeing what stuck. Then manipulated to try and tell a narrative.
I rarely use paint, unless it’s in the form of a marker. I collage with a glue stick. Whatever I use most is within reach of my giant chair in the living room, where I do 80% of my art. And for a girl who rejected many coloring books because the tiny details made my hands ache…it appears that doesn’t apply when I am the one doing the drawing!
What’s different is me.
While we all long for the inspiration that propels us to create every day, I often struggled doing so. I was ill and exhausted and wished I could do more, create and experiment, like my friends. I did my best, said, “Good enough,” a lot.
I’m living in a new state — my third! — in my own comfortable apartment filled to the rafters with art supplies. I encourage you to find a closet or cabinet that holds anything else (ok the kitchen is just the bulbs for my studio lights, but it’s the safest space). You won’t find one. There’s less stress and more self-care. I work a wonderful day job I love, but also continue to struggle with mental and physical health issues.
I say this because, about a year ago, something amazing happened: I started working at least 2 hours a day on art. It started with coloring the work of other artists, then drawing florals, collage, and now I live in the world of mandalas and the mix of supplies that continue to inspire me.
(I’m actually taking a break from my current one; I’m in hour 7.)
As you can figure by the tumbleweeds gathered in the corners of this blog, I didn’t share much on social media. I don’t spend nearly as much time on my phone, and when I post, I’m in the frame of mind that I’m sharing with my friends. There are rarely hashtags, the posts are inconsistant, and doesn’t see much engagement past my Facebook friends. It wasn’t very important, running to share something the moment I put pencil to paper; I fell into this pitfall a few times in my life, and it always ruined and disrupted my inspiration.
Now? Now I make stuff, and if people like it, awesome! I actually taught my first class in 10 years to a small group of friends and delighted more in the kind words from friends who shared my post. Because my students were friends, I didn’t feel pressure to have everything set up perfectly. I no longer have a DSLR to film with, and my laptop is a modified MacBook Pro from 2009. I loved teaching live, as I could get feedback from my students, as well as answer their questions, in real time.
(I’m working on a ‘sequel’ right now, as I ran out of time to share everything!)
The joy? Using much loved supplies to the point they need replacing because of how much you use them. Being able to info dump at friends all I’ve learned from wearing out even the expensive stuff.
Sometimes, you need to run out of what was so there’s room for what can come. But the only way you get there is to just run free with radical acceptance, use the pretty things, and allow something you never expected to take root and grow.
I’ll see you next week, friends.
💜 Kira

fic writer asks: 1, 2, 7, 29, 38!
hi shelly my beloved
Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-fic.
answered here
2) Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
hmmmmm i think 'there's only one bed' maybe? i freaking love that trope but i dont think i've ever written it (maybe con au????)
7) Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
answered here but i'll find another one for ya. heehee from a fic you HATE here's a bit from i miss the days when
The day itself is no different than any other day, save for the chocolate cake his mom makes and the few presents his parents give him. Luke manages a small smile and thank you at the sight of the necklace and new pair of socks, but inside he feels like a ticking time bomb, just waiting to explode.
The loneliness he’s felt every day over the last few months increases ten-fold. His friends should be here, celebrating this landmark occasion of Luke surviving till adulthood. It used to be the running joke between them all, mostly lighthearted teasing mixed with a touch of concern about his runaway life. But now it just feels like the universe is laughing at him, seeing how much it can screw with Luke before he gives up completely.
He looks in the mirror and flinches at the realization that he’s older than Reggie was. Than Alex was.
Was.
Luke hates the fact that he has to talk about his brothers, his family, in the past tense. They should be here. They should be smiling and laughing and basking in the glow of the Orpheum even months after the gig. But they aren’t, and Luke is left sitting in front of a mirror begging to go back in time, to a young and innocent seventeen year old that didn’t know this kind of pain.
i'm proud of this fic for a lot of reasons, and one of them is how i was able to get the mental anguish across well, as the physical pain is easier for me to write.
29) If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
oh man, i have no idea! can't think of anything off the top of my head
38) Talk about a review that made your day.
literally all of them lol. but i searched through my comments and found this one on right this way from @cassiopeiakaleidoscope (which you probably don't even remember bc it was soooo long ago lol) but it means a lot to me because this fic was one of my first truly self-indulgent fics. i wrote this because i really wanted to read it, and to have such a positive review made me feel like i truly knew what i was doing!
Yes!! This is so good, I absolutely loved it!! You did such an amazing job of capturing all of those sweet, sweet parallels, and your characterization of all of the band members is spot on. I loved that you were drawing comparisons to both moments in the musical/show and the characters in them. I was so happy that you had Reggie acknowledge Johnny and Davy's jokes; in my mind, Reggie's personality is somewhere between Johnny's and Davy's, and I think you did a really good job of showing how the characters are similar not just in their trauma and experiences, but in their humor and friendships, too.
I also particularly enjoyed your interpretation of Luke's reaction to the "I don't need to be rescued"/"What if I do?" scene, which is one of my favorite moments from Bandstand. Both of these couples really are just out there rescuing each other, aren't they?? Ugh, it makes me so emotional!! And the idea of Julie doing the lift from Nobody--yes, please lol

Do you have movies to which you keep returning like a homing pigeon? If you do, what is it that draws you to them?
ah, yes! thanks for asking anon! i’ve got a whole list of movies/dramas that really draw me in on my letterboxd, but i love giving explanations for them, so…
1. beginners (2010): starring ewan mcgregor, melanie laurent, and the brilliant, late christopher plummer, this movie is about a man whose father just recently passed away. it’s about a million other things—grief, queerness, love . . . it’s one of those movies that’s just so quiet and i can’t ever take my eyes off the screen when i’m watching it. also, i adore the music in that movie. also, it’s just one of those movies that makes me kind of wish that i could write something that nuanced and lovely and poetic. (also, there’s a cute dog.)
2. columbus (2017): this is admittedly a slow movie, but i’m obsessed with it just. because of how slow and still it is. it’s about a young woman who works as a tour guide in her small hometown, because it’s got a lot of cool architecture—and a man who returns here because his famous architect of a father is now ill. i think this movie holds a particularly close place in my heart because it features a korean-american protagonist (john cho, my love…), but also, it’s just so quiet and about like. finding some form of comfort and solace with another person. i think about the hug in this movie all the time.
3. little forest (2018): you want a movie that’s just featuring a burnt out young woman farming and cooking and talking to her friends and also trying to work through her own failures + potential resentment for her mom, who actually loved her a lot? yeah. that’s basically this entire movie, and i enjoyed every second of it. also, kim tae ri is just wonderful, and this movie is so full of life.
4. after yang (2021): while i haven’t rewatched this movie in a hot second, i listen to the soundtrack on loop like a madwoman sometimes. another one of kogonada’s works (he was the one who directed columbus), this movie is also pretty quiet, except it’s kinda more sci-fi in the fact that it’s about an AI who acted as an older brother and son to a family. when this AI, yang, malfunctions, the family has to deal with it. it’s a beautiful piece about what it means for something to have life and what makes a life matter, and god, it’s one of those movies that kinda only make sense when it’s late at night and you’re rolled over in bed and watching with the lights down low, which is exactly how i watched this movie.
5. doctor sleep (2017): a little different but also the same as every movie i’ve listed here, in that it’s about wanting to get better and it’s also a bit about grief and it’s also about how we go on and about what we do with our lives. mike flanagan remains my favorite horror director, because he understands how horror can also be a marvelous way to explore genuinely human themes. basically, the sequel to the shining, with danny as a grown man—a recovering alcoholic, who’s trying to clean up his act when he meets abra stone, a brilliant young girl who also seems to share danny’s supernatural gifts. it’s worth nothing that stephen king adored this movie, while he didn’t like the shining movie.
6. sympathy for mr. vengeance (2002): it wouldn’t be a list by me if i didn’t add one of shin ha kyun’s movies, but yeah. while i like lady vengeance better out of park chan wook’s vengeance movies (although maybe i shouldn’t say that, because i haven’t watched oldboy yet), there’s something about mr. vengeance that just draws me in again and again. maybe it’s shin ha kyun and bae doo na and song kang ho all together, maybe it’s the slow spiral of this movie (ie. a brother, in an effort to get money for his sister’s surgery, kidnaps his boss’ daughter) . . . it’s a rather dreary film, but there’s something about it that just keeps me glued to the screen.

fluff/relationships w the mondstadt crew
characters included: diluc, kaeya, and jean
gn! reader as always <3
tw: fluff??? domesticity??? crack??? ideal relationships w people who will never be real??? also mentions of alcohol!
an: so i’m back w a sequel to my “fluff/relationships w the liyue crew” since you guys seemed to really like it <3 thank you my heart is literally melting 😩 this post was getting too long so i excluded some of the characters but expect a part. 2 (more like part 3 but part 2 to the mondstadt version)!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
diluc
man. this MAN.
that’s it, that’s the headcanon.
he would literally be the most doting lover in the softest ways
SUCH a soft romantic like you thought you knew love??? nah this man will show you what love is
will constantly leave you things around the winery to convey his silent thank you’s and appreciation for you putting up with him being busy for most of the day
it’s always the most thoughtful things ever too like-
you mentioned how nice it would be to have some fresh lemonade with the hotter weather outside but it was too late in the day to actually go to the market in search of fresh lemons
the next day you walked downstairs only to be greeted with a pitcher of cool lemonade with a side of lemon bars
there was a note attached to the handle of the pitcher <3
“i recall you mentioning how lemonade would be perfect for the warmer weather so i decided to make some for you this morning. i hope it’s still cool by the time you drink it. love, d”
pls sir your hand in marriage
he secretly loves it when you usher him to bed after waking up in the dead of night to see him working by candlelight on reports
soft hands on his cheeks gently whispering about how, it’s been far too long and come to bed, darling and there will be time for this in the morning
his protests are light given the dark purple hues under his crimson eyes but he’ll still make a little fuss
don’t let this man fool you tho he’s so so touched that you care enough to check up on him and drag him to bed!!
sometimes on the days he has a bit more free time, the two of you will quickly grab your dinners and race to the highest spot in the winery to watch the setting sun
these moments are always filled with laughter, something you’ve found you’re easily able to pull out of diluc, simply because it’s you
uncontrollable sobbing
he would let you paint his nails black like the angsty man he is
frankly he would let you do anything to him if it makes you happy <3
ok but wait diluc w bLACK NAILS?? AND RINGS??? i would die on the spot ⚰️
on the topic of makeup, this man is surprisingly really good w it
i like to think he learned after practicing on kaeya when they were younger bc kaeya was really into makeup
you found out after babysitting klee one day and trying failing to draw eyeliner on the sweet girl after her “big brother ‘bedo!”
you hastily grabbed some wipes, gently wiping off the messed up design before attempting to dive back in
diluc however, had some down time so he decided to check up on his favorite chaotic duo
only to be met with a pile of dirtied makeup wipes, your frustrated expression, and klee’s growing jitteriness
swiftly moving to your side, he quietly asked if you needed help
you glanced up quizzically before handing him the eyeliner, already looking around to find more makeup wipes when this inevitably goes wrong
to your utter surprise tho the eyeliner is perfect??? two perfect winged lines??? in less than a minute??? WHAT
you just stood there like 😦 before diluc got back up and handed you the eyeliner
you were short-circuiting, klee was ecstatic, diluc was worried about you
ok last thing abt diluc
crack! warning but the both of you like lowkey pranking kaeya
for diluc it’s revenge on his annoying brother; for you it’s good - natured sibling rivalry fun
every time the two of you see kaeya, one of you always swipes something of his
small things really, it could be a pen or a handkerchief
one time, diluc swiped kaeya’s spare eyepatch and from the looks of it, kaeya’s only spare black eyepatch bc he was frantically looking for it yk he’s desperate when he even asked diluc if he saw it
the two of you spent an hour nearly laughing your asses off
all in all, life w him is so sweet
kaeya
pretty boy? pretty boy.
while i can’t guarantee stability, life would never be boring w this man that’s for sure
piggy back rides 🗣 piggy back rides 🗣 piggy back rides
he LOVES it, the feel of you on his back while he’s walking around mondstadt most likely carrying you to your commission
he finds it comforting especially since he can hear the rumble of your voice against him while you recount stories, or just babble on about everything under the sun
he is SO dramatic so obviously when y’all reach the site of the commission he has to kill all the monsters even tho the both of you agreed to split it up evenly
he makes quick work of his set before stealing some of yours much to your chagrin
you scold him but can you really be mad at him when he looks drop dead gorgeous freezing the hilichurls the answer is no, no you cannot be
oh my god ok wait-
he does this thing where he tries to spook you in public
so say you’re getting groceries at the mondstadt general store
you round the corner just minding your own business, looking around, taking in the sunshine
and suddenly you just hear someone drop in behind you but before you can register anything you hear a soft “boo” and hands circle your waist
you jump SIKE let’s be honest you shrieked
meanwhile kaeya’s just laughing his ass off
you can hear his rich peals of laughter while you attempt to regain your bearings
he does this so often you SHOULD be used to it but you really aren’t bc mans is SNEAKY-
he cards his fingers in your hair whenever you’re speaking
he doesn’t know why, it’s just a cute habit and he finds the feel of his fingers in your hair soothing
oH on the topic of comfort, kaeya really likes resting two fingers on the back of your neck???
ik he seems like the type to throw his arm around your shoulder which yes he totally is but during more serious conversations his hand automatically seeks out the warmth of your neck
your neck feels amazing especially during the warmer months due to his chilly fingers contrasting with your warm skin
he likes that he’s able to access such a vulnerable part of you and you would willingly let him
HE GETS YOU MATCHING OUTFITS
no i will NOT take criticism on this i just kNOW he’s that type of guy
it would be those stupid “i’m his” and “they’re mine” sweatshirts like BYE
it’s so cringy but for some reason it’s oddly adorable and you truly despise it but you can’t seem to say no whenever he asks
you pretend to ignore the look of pity diluc throws your way whenever he sees you like this
kaeya really loves accessories so i think he would be the type to give you a promise ring or something similar to show that he truly does care for you
he would brush it off, flirting a little like usual before handing you the ring
with the way his cheeks softly darken though, you know he’s being genuine
TICKLE FIGHTS ik i mentioned this for childe but shhhh
he has tickle fingers??? his hands just loOK like they’re itching to tickle someone so you’ll most likely be the unfortunate victim
he will not show you mercy. at all. he’ll tickle you until there are tears streaming from your eyes, your face is hot, and your voice is hoarse from laughing so damn hard
it gives him such a rush of serotonin its SO CUTE
i feel like this goes without saying but he’s super into pda,,, anything and everything is on the table
hand holding? duh. ass grabs? ofc. carrying you bridal style around mondstadt? why not
ik he’s typically very playful but once the relationship reaches a certain stage, he’ll slowly start to let down the walls that surround his facade
very very slowly show you the more realistic parts of him
the real, damaged pieces of his soul
he’ll be carefully monitoring your reaction though, any sign of fear or disgust will have him recoiling within himself again and you most likely will never see his true nature ever again
SO BE CAREFUL 👹
once you’ve seen the parts of him he’s offered to you, the hushed whispers of his past, and the uncertain lines of his future, he will take off his eyepatch
pretends like he’s not super nervous but he’s SWEATING-
the prettiest thing you’ve ever seen though hands down
you can understand why he covers it up but you would like it if he felt comfortable enough to take off the eyepatch occasionally when he’s with you
also!!! sleeps with his eyepatch side facing you (in the event he wears it to bed)
if this happens you KNOW he trusts you bc it’s his blindside <3
anyways life w kaeya will never be boring but he is a very complicated man
stay with him though, i promise it’ll be worth it
jean
the key to jean’s heart is coffee and food
GET HER COFFEE AND FOOD
i am begging you she deserves it 😭
the poor woman works so hard bc the knights are so mf understaffed, this is literally the best way you can ever show her your love and appreciation when she has work
she will MELT if you have a hot shower and dinner waiting for her when she inevitably returns later than she promised
will completely refuse at first with, “you did not have to do this, it’s too much” but shush her as you shOULD bc she deserves the entire world
she’s the definition of “you do something for me, i’ll return the favor ten times grander”
you leave a flower on her desk bc it reminded you of her??? you’ll wake up to find a whole bouquet of the prettiest windwheel asters you’ve ever seen the next morning along with a thank you note
she’s so sweet BYE
she gets flustered extremely easily so you obviously use this as an opportunity to tease her
when you’re in public rest your hand on her waist and inch it higher until your hand is underneath her shirt and in contact with her warm skin
she’ll actually short-circuit its quite adorable
sometimes y’all will be cuddling and you’ll hear whispers of her insecurities
“am i a good grand master? will i ever be as valiant as vanessa?”
reassure her!!! tell her that she doesn’t need to be like vanessa, she’s already amazing as jean
if you haven’t seen her in awhile, track her down and schedule a lunch date
she never misses appointments and if it’s for you, she’ll gladly make time to see you even if she has to stay up even later than usual
OH-
GIVE HER MASSAGES
she has so much tension and the sorest muscles from hunching over papers and running around on errands
if you sneak into her office and quietly stand behind her before gently pushing down on the sore tendons of her neck, she’ll genuinely fall over on her desk
so make sure you steady her 😀
after you feel how tight her muscles are though, you drag her to barbara bc she needs a healer asap 😭
while most of your time is spent in her office - you helping out in the ways you can while jean is overseeing knight duties - you still have your fair share of life outside of the favonius headquarters
jean never likes to sit still so whenever you have free time, the both of you head off looking for monsters to clear
bouken da bouken???
adventuring w jean is seriously the funnest thing you could ever do
it’s just non-stop you accidentally getting into trouble and her having to come help you
even tho the both of you are dead tired after fighting, what? 20 hilichurl camps now??? the laughter and joy in your eyes shows how you both truly loved every minute of it
it’s both a stress reliever, good fun, and a work-out <3
you’re definitely prone to getting dragged to angel’s share w kaeya
kaeya and jean sometimes hang out after work at the tavern so inevitably you’re dragged along too
all three of you are drunk out of your minds which just makes everything a MILLION times funnier
kaeya slurring over his words makes the two of you start cackling endlessly while diluc just shakes his head making sure to not give you more wine despite your pleas
angel’s share ft. kaeya and bartender diluc are always the best times fr fr
life with her literally feels like y’all are married
so much domesticity it’s so NICE ALJDKSFH
your house is always so clean and the color scheme is impeccable bc jean has such a good eye
you have a chore schedule 😎 but it almost never works out bc jean ends up doing everything without you knowing-
you always confront her abt it and she’s like 😁 “i had some time so i did them! no worries tho” like i- time??? where bitc-
oH- she has amazing style so you can bet shopping w her is literally the best experience
she takes you to all of the hidden gems some places lisa recommended and helps you pick out things
will 100% get really blushy if you come out in something and ask her for her opinion tho she’s literally the cutest
basically jean is a sweet girl who deserves the entirety of teyvat that is all.
thanks for reading! if you have any requests don’t hesitate to send them in <3

The weapon’s throat constricted.
It was the first time in - well, the immeasurable span since the last time it was breathing fresh air, and the scent of grass and clouds brought back, with force, the memory of screaming.
Desperate, tortured, deathly screaming, paired with the smell of burning flesh and homes.
The weapon wrapped its arms over its ears, although it knew it couldn’t escape what it had done, and without thought, whimpered, »Please no, please, not again…«
»Ainsel.« Something touched its wrist.
What was it doing? What did it think it was doing? It didn’t get to say no, that had been made clear a long time ago. If its king wanted to use it for the purpose it was made for, that was his right, and it had no choice any more than his sword. It wanted to apologize, but it couldn’t even draw a breath to do so. It fell on its knees, its chest constricting painfully.
»Ainsel.«
It wrapped its hands into its belly, curled up to press its head against the ground in a desperate plea for mercy. The gravel dug into its forehead, but it deserved that, deserved so much worse than that, for its disobedience.
Or for the things it had done, and would do again, on its king’s command.
It shouldn’t think this way - it shouldn’t think. It didn’t matter. It was only a dumb weapon, and it had been taken out to do as weapons did.
»Ainsel. Hey.« And then, after a moment, »Pay attention to me.«
What breath it had regained, hitched. »Yes sir,« it squeezed past its knotted airways, barely a whisper - of course, of course it had to pay attention, how could it let itself go like that?
»Give them a moment,« another voice said.
»They need something,« its king countered. That was who was speaking. It it hadn’t just been ignoring somebody, it had been ignoring its king. »Ainsel. Hey. Breathe with me.«
The weapon did as it was told - it was much too late for that, and it would pay, it knew it would pay, but it matched its king’s calm breaths as best as it could, even as it felt like suffocation, it wasn’t getting enough air at this rate, but the king had ordered, and eventually, its breaths became easier.
Stupid weapon. This was why it shouldn’t think, or feel, or wish. Of course its king would know better what was good for it, or at least right for it.
»Come on. Sit up. You’re doing good.«
It sat up. It tensed itself to keep from flinching when the king reached out and brushed off a small piece of gravel that had gotten stuck to its forehead. His touch was ever so soft, and something deep inside the weapon cried for more, but it shouldn’t wish. It knew it shouldn’t wish.
The king was crouched in front of it, again in that unnatural position - on the ground, with the weapon. »There you go. No one’s going to hurt you.«
The weapon swallowed. There were those nonsensical words again. »I’m sorry, sir,« it choked out, unsure what to do, unsure of anything. The gravel dug into its knees, and the pain was almost comforting. »I will do as you wish, sir.« Of course it would. What had come over it? It didn’t have a choice.
Its obedience would lead to death and destruction, but it didn’t have a choice.
It couldn’t take any more.
»It’s alright,« the king said softly, getting to his feet. The weapon flinched, its body expecting a kick, but nothing came. »Can you get up?«
The weapon clambered to its feet, keeping its eyes firmly on the ground. It wasn’t its business to look, and truly, it didn’t want to see where it was going, what it would destroy.
It just stayed on the king’s heels as he led the way. It heard-felt Cassio walking behind it, making sure it didn’t step out of line.
They hadn’t walked far when they stepped onto grass. Somewhere nearby, birds were chirping, and the hum of insects filled the air.
The weapon tried not to think. It wasn’t its place to think, or feel, or wish. But it did feel something inside of it crack, and tears were rolling down its face before it knew what was happening. Looking out at the world from the windows of the room it had been placed in had felt like an immeasurable mercy. And now, it was here, outside.
It knew only too well what being outside meant. Soon, the king would point it at whatever - whoever - it was he wanted destroyed. Then, its task completed, it would be put back into storage.
It was only a weapon, and it shouldn’t wish for this to last.
»Look up, Ainsel,« the king said, in this strangely soft voice he always used when talking to it. »You’re missing all the flowers.«
Obediently, it raised its head, trembling head to toe from more emotions than it knew what to do with. A weapon shouldn’t feel, anyway.
Trees gently whispered in the breeze, half-hidden birds hopping from twig to twig. Bushes bloomed in white and soft pink and purple. Flowerbeds swirled across the ground in bright reds and yellows. Streams ran quietly in carefully carved channels, the bright sunlight sparkling on their surface.
The weapon blinked tears away, but fresh ones welled up instantly. It had been ordered to look, and it couldn’t, although it wanted - it shouldn’t want, but it wanted, it had been so long-
»It’s been a while since you’ve been out of there, huh?« the king said, slowing as they wandered through the too-beautiful garden.
»Yes sir.« It was almost a sob. It had to answer clearly, but it was so hard.
»Do you like it?«
The weapon choked. »N-no sir,« it replied hastily. It had made more than enough mistakes for a day; it could only hope the king would be merciful. »I’m only a weapon.«
The king stopped, and its breath hitched again. That had been right, hadn’t it? But it was impossible to tell - so far, it hadn’t figured out a single thing about how this new king wanted it to behave.
It could only hope he would be merciful.
»No, Ainsel. You’re not.« He said it with the same softness, as if he wasn’t, again, pulling the floor out from under the weapon - what else would it be to him, then? It wished he would tell it what he wanted, but a weapon shouldn’t wish, but the king had said it wasn’t a weapon-
»You’re confusing them,« Cassio said quietly.
»They have to learn this sooner or later. Look at me, Ainsel.«
It looked at him, because it had to, no matter how wrong it felt.
»You’re a person.«
It couldn’t contradict its king. But it knew this must be wrong. It may have believed that, a long time ago, but it had been wrong.
It could only stand there and look at its king, like it had been ordered, and wish to look away wish to be told what was going to happen to it wish for a gentle touch feel terrified feel blessed by the fresh air feel dread at the prospect of what it might have been taken out for-
Think of how its king was wrong.
How dared it?
»Hey-« it heard before it fell into darkness.

Jasper Reviews: Death Witchcraft volumes 1 & 2
After talking to my lawyer- I MEAN, reviewing these zines and my notes on them, I have decided that it makes the most sense to review them both together.
Death Witchcraft volume 1 and Death Witchcraft volume 2 are a duology of zines by Yunan Kirkbride, better known as @death-witch-envy (or DeathWitchEnvy, or DeathWitchEnvy). These are centered around death witchcraft (obviously), spirit work, the dead, and everything that an aspiring necromancer needs the TLDR on.
DWv1 is fairly short at 24 pages and was first published in 2017. Many of the good things I have to say about it apply to DWv2 as well, so we'll cover those first.
Firstly, this zine is very personal in tone and content, drawing on the experience of the author. It's handmade/printed and overall very aesthetically pleasing and put together well from a more practical standpoint. It stresses how mundane actions help magical actions, like building relationships with the spirits of a graveyard. It has several safety warnings, and the author stresses that you shouldn't do anything you're not comfortable with or don't feel safe doing.
As for the criticisms for DWv1 alone, the crystals for the dead appendix feels like it was cut in half, stopping after lapis lazuli (and since it's in alphabetical order, the cutoff was very jarring). There are also no recommendations for further reading. Both of these may be due to having to save pages, as this seems to have been one of the author's first works.
Moving on to DWv2, it expands on and clarifies things from DWv1. It's much longer (43 pages) and was written in 2019.
There are guides to things in death witchcraft that people don't usually think about, such as cleaning bones. There's also a fascinating historical necromancy analysis that talks about how the term has become muddied over time. There are very kindly-handled notes on the spirits of suicide victims and miscarriages, as well as what feels like a deeply personal note reaching out to suicidal practitioners. It's handled very well and the topics are treated with care. This zine also comes with the further reading appendix that DWv1 was missing.
My sole criticism of DWv2 is that it mentions house rules but doesn't explain what they are and why you should have them. It's easy to look up online, but it feels like a puzzle piece that's missing compared to the detail and care in the rest of the zine.
On a more neutral note, the appendices in DWv2 aren't alphabetical, and the zine refers back to DWv1 rather often.
As for the both of them together, the sections are short and to the point without feeling like too much detail is lost. This sort of thing is a fine balance to strike, and the author does it very well!
These two zines are very much a "first toe in the water" zine and an expanded sequel. You very much need to get the other if you get one.
Also, despite the fact that I ordered the two separately instead of in the bundle with extra stickers, I still received an adorable skull sticker and a handwritten note from the author. Very sweet and kind!
So with all of that in mind...
Official Jasper Review: 10/10, possibly the best zines you could pick up if you're looking into death witchcraft and want to support a small business!
I will definitely be picking up every other zine that Yunan has written and will review them in the future, so keep your eyes open for those! Also yes I DID plug their Etsy shop as much as possible, support witchy businesses and get these zines because they're amazing.
