OK K.O! Let's Rewrite the Show - Headcanons #2
More headcanons!!
Professor Venomous + Voxman
- Venn always had a great fascination with rats (even though he is literally part snake), and after separating from his brother and joining the villainy, he rescued a little rat girl who was lost in the sewers and named her Fink.
- Professor Venomous obviously HAS a tail AND HE LOVES IT! (Snake man, yuss)
- Fink is his minion, but she's also a scientist that has made alot of inventions with Venomous. And yes, she's adopted by PV (we actually get this confirmed) and refers him as boss or dad.
- I think Boxman is older than Venomous, at least by about ten years, and it's the same with Cosma, Billiam William and even Vormulax, so that makes PV the youngest villain in the whole community (he’s almost 30-34, I guess ?).
- Venomous meets Boxman formally at an important villain gala (to which he did not obviously snuck in uninvited), and although Venn doesn't make any impression on him at first, he eventually takes an interest in Boxman and his peculiar style of committing crimes. 'Cause ya know, Boxy IS actually much more of a threat, but he's still a pushover to other villains.
- Boxman has always had trouble relating to people (thanks to his shitty parents but that’s another story to tell), and has long avoided opening up and being honest with others, much like Venomous, although his story is much darker.
- During their dating time, Boxman worries alot about Venny and his emotional problems (nightmares, mood swings, paranoia). Venomous also worries about Boxy anger issues. This almost sounds like a toxic relationship (which it’s true), but eventually they find a better way to solve their issues, and surprisingly Boxy suggests going to couples therapy.
- (+18!) Venomous and Boxman have been dating for almost a year and they try to *cough* have sex for the first time, and when Boxy takes off his clothes, he says a surprised "oh". Venny starts to feel really insecure and gets defensive and talks about he doesn't need a dick to be a great villain or a real man, but then Boxman shuts him up with a kiss and explains he doesn't think Venn is less of a man or villain and is still just as attracted to him.
- Yeah, they totally switch, but Boxman likes more to be in full control, and PV really feels comfortable with that... he can be vulnerable knowing that there will be someone who wouldn't take advantage of his weakness.

quick little dr. deet drawing for tonight [+ me rambling about him under the "keep reading" cut]
Tumblr media
i'm still figuring shit out for him, i don't wanna push any angst too far obviously bc ok ko is pretty g-rated and i also don't wanna push any lore for him too far bc he is still a self-insert character but his whole thing as of rn is that he thinks of himself as a super evil schmuck when he really isn't. he's a harmless little bug dude who really would've been more suited to be a hero rather than a villain and his fucking cat is literally considered more evil and powerful than him but he stays insistent. he's definitely super evil and malicious, yes. the board doesn't acknowledge him as a villain, similarly to boxman. tho he's less of a "thorn in their side" than boxman [translation: he has yet to crash one of billiam's yacht parties] so they just ignore him instead of bullying him.
any exp he has is from small petty shit. oh also his civilian name is nico but it feels weird to call him that so i will continue to refer to him as deet or deets.

A THIRD Unpopular Opinion:
(Because no one else seems to have said anything. I'm going to reference Xaiolin Showdown again.)
VENOMOUS AND BOXMAN SHOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE NEAR KO AND CAROL SHOULD NOT BE THIS OKAY WITH THINGS!
I don't care if Venomous is Ko's father. He and Boxman are HORRIBLE fathers and the fact that Venomous even gets weekends with his child is just flat out sickening.
All of this under the guise of "He knew he was his son and wanted him to be on his side! How cute! Voxman family!"
Oh shut up. Voxman is a cute ship WHEN CHILD ABUSE ISN'T A FACTOR! And it is.
I can't stand the argument of "Hes a villian, what did you expect" or "He wants Ko to embrace his dark side"!
There are ways of doing that without mentally and physically abusing your child and FORCING him to go rogue at his own expense.
Take Xaiolin Showdown (again), for example. I choose this show because the set up is near identical to Ko and Venomous, except here we have Omi and Chase.
Chase turned rogue due to his insecurities, yes, but never in the series does he attempt the same method on his "child". Omi is free to make his own mistakes and choices, but both hero and villian are honor bound to respect that. There's no mocking or "dissecting" every little mistake he does as him "turning evil" like Venomous with Ko.
And when Omi does finally take a stand and tells Chase hes not evil, its met with a calm nod and a shrug, because what can you do? Kid said no.
Sure, everyone is still on edge around him, but hes a villian, what did you expect?
And just a reminder here, that this is a complete stranger and not the child's BIOLOGICAL FATHER!
In OK KO, when KO says no its met with a "No!? Well, I'll just have to break your arm and try to torture you some more until you finally say yes!"
Aaaand that somehow constitutes weekend visits that... Everyone... Is okay with...??? Because hes his biological father... And has a 'healthy' relationship... With Boxman...?
Um... Okay. That is a horrible message for a kids cartoon, but ignore it, I guess?

Him
Venomous gets a flyer on his door, he decides to check it out
Warnings: Cryptozoology and ufology, aliens, abductions, talk about dissections, and passing out
Venomous had been so confused by the flyer on his door, until he looked into the number on the flyer.
'John Boxman- stay at home scientist'
Weirdest job he'd ever read in a phone book.
But when he went to the library to look the man up in the local records, he had found articles upon articles in the microfiche with the man simply referred to as 'Boxman' and his escapades ranged from helping the local PTA install a new score board at the high schools football field to being arrested for 'public disturbances.' The weren't any pictures of the man in any of the articles but one had shown a picture of a few kids. 'Local man takes in orphan after parents found dead in woods.'
That was an odd read. He had expected it to a hard read but instead it was two pages of, in all honesty, laughing at 'the Boxman family' and it's 'weird' habits.
He had never expected the flyer asking for 'Evidence' and 'updates on sightings'.
His neighbours had told him to ignore the flyer unless he wanted a bad time. They didn't say why but they where all firm on one thing. 'That Boxman is a nut.'
“Sir, that's $3.84.”
He looked up at the girl at the checkout counter.
“Oh, uh, sorry.” He pulled out a 5 and handed it over. The girl passed over a bag of goods.
“Thank you for shopping at Gar's Boo-dega. Have a spook-tastic day.” The girl sighed.
He nodded and walked out of the store. He looked up at the over cast sky. If he walked his normal way home he could move on with his day and Fink wouldn't yell about her soda being warm. But he could take a trip down the next road over and just see what this 'Stay at Home Scientist' had to offer.
He turned a road early for his house and walked down the street. He adjusted his hat as the wind tried to bring it off his head. Not today forces of air current, not today.
He looked at a door and sighed. He walked to it and knocked.
There was quiet, and everything was still. After a minute he knocked again. Suddenly there was yelling, crashing, and banging cacophony of sound and the door opened.
A young teen boy with an eye patch looked up at him and sighed.
“Daddy! There is a weirdo here to play!” The kid yelled into the house.
“Give me a minute!”
Crashes, bangs, hissing, screaming noises.
What was he walking into?
“Well come in.” The kid huffed. He stepped in, it looked like a normal enough home. A bit messy, okay more than a bit messy, and defiantly home to an amount of children. He looked around and saw on the walls a smattering of pictures and newspaper clippings. It was all he'd seen in the microfiche and more.
Suddenly a door burst open, the smell of smoke filled the room as a small man in a trench coat threw himself out of the door, smoke billowing behind him and coughing loudly.
“Hello!” The man called, pulling at his coat to adjust it. Half his face was covered in strikingly teal hair and one of his hands was gloved. His hair also had a strange glow as it rested over his face. “What brings you to our humble home?”
He gulped. This was a bad idea.
“I saw the flyer on my door yesterday, I-”
Suddenly his was grabbed by the arm and being pulled towards the smokey door way.
“Mind the stairs.”
That wasn't all he could mind as the man dragged him down the stairs. He could hear beeping and thudding. And the distinct sound of a washing machine with the blips of, was that a heart monitor? As he went further down the stars he could confirm that was a heart monitor. It was a heart monitor attached to some weird blob of a plant, he wasn't going to ask. He wasn't going to ask about any of the machines or any of the weird things they where attached to.
“So what brings you to my humble lab?” The man asked.
“I was just, curious about the flyer.”
The man laughed. He picked up a- was that a colander?
“Nothing to tell?” The man asked, he started to toss the colander between his hands.
“I just have, a passing interest in, space, and I just moved into town, so I was wondering about some of the things that happened around here. I've heard stories.”
The man lit up. “Just a passing interest?” The man raised an eye brow. “Or anything more?”
“Well, uh.”
“Put this on!” The man yelled. He held the colander at him.
“No, I uh, think I'll go.” He stood to leave but his coat was grabbed.
“No please, put this on! We have much to discuss!” The man pushed the colander on him.
“No I-”
He was pulled back to the work bench and his hat was grabbed. He dropped the bag of snacks and grabbed his hat.
“Come on, just for a few questions!” The man yelled.
“No!” He tried to back away but the man was strong. “Please! Let go of me!”
“Just a few question-”
His hat was pulled off. The man went quiet.
“CODE RED.” Suddenly the man had a spray bottle and squirted something in his face. He grabbed his hat and abandoned the bag. He put it on and started to leave.
Half was up the stairs the world started spinning, he tried to go faster but it was useless. At the top of the stairs he felt his legs go numb. He got to the front door and-
~~~~
“Darrell get him!”
“What the heck Dad!”
Boxman ran to the door and pulled the man in the large jacket and hat back inside, he looked around outside the door before closing it.
“We caught one! We caught one!”
Boxman scooped Darrell into a hug, picking the boy up and spinning him.
“Dad did you drug him!” Darrell screamed. Boxman put Darrell down and rolled the man over. He took the man's hat and glasses off.
“We caught one!”
“Dad is that-?”
“Darrell get my surgery tools!” Boxman picked the man up and started to carry him to the basement. “Then get yourself back to bed young man.”
~~~~hi
Boxman adjusted his gloves, he looked at the man on his table and smirked. He turned on his tape recorder.
“Subject is lilac, and tall and slender. His hair is black and his eyes are black.” Boxman paused the tape recorder. He walked to a camera and turned it on. He pulled the tape recorder out again.
“Video is on, the dissection should take-”
Boxman was cut off by sudden screaming.
The man on the table was writhing and screaming, pulling at his restraints.
Boxman picked up his spray bottle and walked closer slowly.
“LET ME GO! LET ME GO!” The man screamed.
“I'M NOT LETTING ONE OF YOUR KIND GO!” Boxman screamed back. He inched closer.
“WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM!” The man screamed back.
“YOU ARE ONE OF THEM!” Boxman held out the bottle as he inched closer.
“ONE OF WHAT!” The man caterwauled.
“ONE OF THEM!” Boxman yelled again.
The man pulled at his restraints. “I'M NOT!”
“PROVE IT!” Boxman yelled.
The man looked at Boxman, his eyes full of fear. He gulped.
“I was taken by them.”
Boxman looked at the man quietly, his bottle still extended.
“P-prove it.”
The man sighed and writhed a bit more before he sighed. “When I was a kid, the aliens, they took me and they experimented on me. That's why I'm purple.”
Boxman looked at him, he brought a hand trough his hair, pushing the mess back. The man at the table stared at Boxman as he revealed a glowing red eye that was surrounded by metal fused into his skin.
“Did It happen right away?” Boxman asked.
“No-”
“Did you see them?”
“No.”
Boxman lowered his bottle.
“I didn't either.” Boxman said quietly.
The man and Boxman looked at each other quietly.
“Can I have my shirt back?” The man asked.
“Oh- uh yeah!” Boxman walked to the side of the room and through the shirt across the room onto the man. The man looked at him. He pulled a hand against the tethers.
“Can I be let go? I won't run I promise.” The man said.
Boxman walked over and started undoing the tethers around the man's wrists.
“I'm Boxman, by the way.”
“I figured.” The man huffed as one of his wrists was freed. “My names, um, Venomous.”
“Sorry for, you know, abducting you.” Boxman coughed.
“Well, you know, yeah.” Venomous mumbled as he other arm was freed. He sat up and looked down the lens of a camera. “Y-”
“Oh! Sorry!” Boxman leaped to the camera and turned it off. It whirred as it clicked down and stopped recording.
“You where filming?” Venomous looked at Boxman, eyes wide.
“Well I had to document my prize dissection.” Boxman said casually.
Venomous' eyes went wide as he stared at Boxman.
“You where going to dissect me?” Venomous stumbled.
“Well, yeah.” Boxman said as he started to undo Venomous' feet from the tethers. “I'm sure you can understand why.”
“You don't just dissect your first specimen! You study them alive first!” Venomous hissed.
“Oh yeah what do you know about science?”
“I'm a professor of biology at the college!”
Boxman started to bounce a bit in excitement.
“A real man of science and a believer!” Boxman called, he released the last tether and clasped his hands together, still bouncing with excitement.
“Yes.” Venomous started to get off the table.
“Um, before you go,” Boxman kicked the floor a bit. “Could you stay for a little longer, in case they show up again?”
“How much longer?” Venomous started to squint at the man.
“The cops should be here any minute if someone saw me, you know, drag you inside.” Boxman mumbled.
Venomous sighed.
“It wasn't that obvious was it?”
“Well, you were on the porch.” Boxman tapped his fingers together quietly as he looked at the floor.
Venomous pinched the bridge of  his nose. “Fine.”
“Daddy!”
Boxman cursed to himself.
“Uh, get your coat and stuff back on.” Boxman turned around.
“WHAT!”
“IT'S THE COPS AGAIN!”
“I'LL BE UP IN A MINUTE!”
Boxman looked at Venomous who was buttoning his coat up. He already had his sunglasses on.
Venomous put his hat on and sighed.
Boxman grabbed Venomous' hand and puled him out of the room. He stopped at the bag that was still on the floor. Boxman picked it up and passed it to Venomous. Boxman stopped in front of a mirror and pulled his hair back over his eye. He adjusted his shirt and pulled his trench coat off a nail, putting it on and adjusting the collar to hid the last little pricks of metal showing around his ear. It was a perfect disguise.
“Your surgical gloves.” Venomous pointed out as Boxman started to walk to the stairs. Boxman pulled them off with his teeth, Venomous was intrigued by the avian looking hand that was under one, but that hand was quickly hid by a glove that was from his pocket. The two went up stairs.
“Officers, how do you do!” Boxman called.
“Cut the crabs, Boxman, we heard you knocked someone out again.” One huffed.
“Nonsense.” Boxman chirped. “No one is knocked out in this household today!”
“Do we have the search the house again? You don't have anything you shouldn't have, again?” The other cop added.
“Officers, I had a- uhm, low blood sugar fainting spell. Boxman just had to bring me back in to get me back awake.” Venomous said quickly.
“He matches the description.” The one cop said.
“Alright, that checks out.” The other confirmed.
“We better not get any other calls about you and the weirdos you bring into this town, you got that, John.” The first cop hissed.
Boxman gulped. “Yes sirs, absolutely no calls at all.”
“Good bye.” And the two left. Boxman took a deep breath.
“You couldn't have sprayed him harder, or sooner, huh.” Darrell snapped.
“Don't get pissy with me young man, now back to bed!” Boxman snapped back.
“I don't even feel sick any more!” Darrell yelled.
“You know that you could be contagious for up to a week with the flu!” Boxman snapped.
“You just don't want to deal with my excused absence so your waiting for the automatic excused absence to kick in!” Darrell hollered.
“Go to your room!” Boxman finally said firmly, Darrell whined but sulked off. Boxman shook his head and tapped a foot. “Kids.”
Venomous watched the man fume, then snap out of his fuming and into the nervousness he had in the basement.
“I really am sorry.” Boxman said with a sombre breath.
Venomous let out a pent up breath and held his temple for a minute. “Whatever, I'm leaving now.”
Venomous waked to the door and opened it, he looked back at Boxman, who was nervously ticking. This man had been so many things in microfiche and more in person.
“Maybe we can talk again, when I have time, I might stop by again.” Venomous said, he stepped through the door. Once Boxman saw the man through the window heading down the street, he started to jump up and down again in excitement.
“He believes! He believes!”

Dark Plaza: A Commentary and Review
Mr. Gar’s abs shine in the intro and I never thought to mention it until now.
Foxtail and P.O.I.N.T. take over the plaza for the glorb supply and there’s nothing the plaza dwellers can do about it...other than form a resistance, of course. KO is leading the strike against them and comes up with a plan to get to the plaza’s defense system, but when he gets there the battery for it isn’t charged. He easily fixes this by forming PKO, and Plazamo rises out of the ground. Rad and Enid come up to help Plazamo face off with Foxtail. This almost turns sour when Foxtail has Elodie charge up the Disempower Ray, but it is deflected by TKO’s attack, and the power is reflected back at Foxtail (with some help from Elodie). Foxtail realizes her mistakes, Boxman tries to steal the glorbs and fails miserably, and KO, Rad, and Enid finally become full-fledged heroes.
Ah, yes. The Season 2 finale. Why must you remind me of how not ready I am for Season 3’s finale.
Anyway, things I noticed:
KO’s eyeliner is darker than TKO’s and PKO’s.
Foxtail’s tail acts like a helicopter similar to Tails from Sonic. I’m pretty sure that’s new, but I haven’t been watching Foxtail very closely.
TKO fries the power in the battery. So he would have been able to charge the battery, but it probably would have overcharged. Or they just formed PKO because no one trusts TKO.
KO doesn’t even use a powerfist to punch Boxman and he still gets thrown all the way back to Boxmore.
Gar and Carol’s timing for emotional conversations is still terrible.
Dendy’s expressions and her little hologram screen are precious.
Despite having a title and everything, no one refers to PKO by anything other than KO. Either they don’t care about TKO, don’t know how much control he has in that form, or it’s supposed to show that PKO is technically KO’s full form. Or KO’s just mostly in control in this episode. Frankly, it’s confusing.
At the end of this episode we find out that the bodega trio gets to go on secret missions, which is a weird thing to connect in this episode when Gar completely abandoned the glorb tree he was supposed to be protecting for the person giving him the secret missions.
Of all the decorations they could have chosen for the underground base, they decided they wanted banners that only say ‘resistance.’ They know they’re part of a resistance. Is this for morale??
Rating: 8/10. There were a few things that were odd about this episode, like Boxman coming out of nowhere to steal the glorbs.
Number of holes in roof: ...what roof.

Okay, so proper thoughts about the OK K.O Sonic Crossover;
- TONS of references to Sonic’s history, which was awesome. K.O referencing the Death Egg, Shadow and the Olympics was the best.
- Jim Cummings’ character and his minions effectively serving as the AoSTH villains was AMAZING.
- DAT MASTER EMERALD POWERED ROBOTICIZER. Also poor Knuckles got tricked again.
- Friggen Metal K.O
- DAT REFERENCE TO THE END OF THE OVA
- Love how Boxman’s defeat referenced the ending credits of AoSTH AND HE ALSO SAID I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG YES.
- Sonic and Tails were BRILLIANTLY portrayed and I love it
- Cream the Rabbit mention was a nice touch too
- SONIC SEZ SEGMENT YES
- THIS EPISODE WASN’T NEARLY LONG ENOUGH MAN WE NEED MORE. WE NEED A WHOLE SERIES OF THIS.

OK K.O. New Episodes Review!
I’m gonna review the new episodes that have been released on the app, everything from All in the Villainy to GarQuest! Spoilers, of course! All in the Villainy: Okay, first of all: Voxman canon anyone? Their fake sitcom is literally The Voxy Bunch and they act exactly like a married couple trying to get their step children to get along! And all in all, this episode was adorable, I couldn’t get enough of it! 10/10! Sidekick Scouts: Heh this episode is golden pretty fast- we all thought that Combo Breaker was gonna be this suave hero who wanted to steal K.O.’s girl, but it turns out it’s the polar opposite, and they’re just a hyperactive cyborg who is really idolizing K.O. to the max. Honestly, it’s pretty adorable, and a big contrast to what we expected from this character- plus, he’s basically just what K.O. used to be like, with an extra dash of Looney Tunes and AstroBoy! 10/10 for this one too! Whacky Jaxxyz: This episode starts out strong, with what is essentially K.O. and Dendy having a Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh Card Battle with Pow Cards, which makes as a subtle reference to their function in the games. And wow, I didn’t think K.O. calling Dendy “Dend” would be that cute, and they are just so cute together~ I like how they totally subvert the “friends have falling out due to diferent interests” trope and have Dendy be totally chill with K.O. having fun with a new random game (until he comes to his senses and comes back to play with her again). And the introduction of Johnny (voiced by the impecable @prozdvoices) excels this episode to like, 12/10 for me honestly. And Jack Whacky is even better, a total anime villain even though he technically isn’t one. I love that joke where he apparently calls everyone ____ Boy (even Nanini) just as a reference to Yu-Gi-Oh, it’s just perfect.
Project Ray Way: I guess they answered our prayers with a Raymond-centric episode, and what a perfect topic for one: fashion! Also, they broke the ‘never show Raymond from the front’ rule, but honestly I don’t care. I just love how jealous Rad is of Raymond just because he’s getting more attention- so much fuel for the Radmond people! I think this episode really nails the cliches of clothing commercials, like how they try and tell you “you’re so unique, and unique people buy our clothes~” This episode has a pretty obvious moral about big businesses stealing from smaller independent ones, but honestly it’s worth the fun of Raymond getting a solo role. Also, don’t try and tell me they AREN’T teasing Radmond, Raymond literally looked at Rad in Bishi Vision, and Rad blushed and started sweating because of how hot he was! 10/10 for this episode and just literally saying “This is capitalism and you’re all complicit!” I Am Jethro: Did not expect a Jethro centric episode, especially since the last episode he starred in was last season ago, but honestly this is a blast already with Jethro’s new voice! Love this recurring pattern where every time one of their siblings is even slightly better, Darrell and Shannon are just not having it. It’s just adorable seeing Jethro form such an odd friendship with K.O., not really caring much at all about fighting!  Who would’ve expected that Jethro’s solo episode would be about him throwing a revolt against Lord Boxman Darrell-style? I expected this to end with a reset button and the rebellious Jethro to just be destroyed, but it seems pretty open-ended to the point where I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back somewhere down the line for a new story arc. Well, 10/10 for this one! Am I being too nice? Yes, I am!
GarQuest: I love parallel titles, this with CarolQuest! Must not be a coincidence I’m assuming~? The idea that Gar lives in a cloud house above the Plaza is so great because it means every time he randomly appears out of the sky it isn’t just him falling out of nowhere, he’s just watching the battle unfold from his cloud porch. I’m glad K.O. is going the polar opposite direction of Steven and just asking questions any child with curiosity would ask, by the way! FLASHBACK TIME PLEASE SHOW ME RIPPY ROOOO YES THANK YOU! I didn’t expect so much emotion already not even half way through, but hey, I love emotion! this is not the kind of boss I expected, but it’s not like that’s a bad thing. Well they just did the secret mission, surely the episode doesn’t have nearly four minutes left huh? Okay, so he’s telling the rest of his story and the President of the Universe showed up, that sure is something- and wow, it turns out that he built the plaza after being told about the Lakewood Tree, cool! So all in all this was a good backstory/character-building episode, my only complaint (which really doesn’t matter) is that I wish we had gotten more info about what happened to Rippy Roo, but still, 10/10~

BITCH I GOTTA SEND THIS IN PARTS -- your URL reputation to me issss ughhghghg your ven (like all your other muses) is the cream of the crop. not just that, it's the cream that settles on top of the cream of the crop. i just.... i do not say this lightly. not in the slightest. this one is not a comment made of bias ; i can GENUINELY hear his voice. i read the dialogue, apply that good ol' fashion steven ogg, and just... damn. fuck. of course, outside of your dialogue your writing is top notch ->
-> and something i reference to better my own ALL THE FUCKIN TIME… in general, i’m really #blessed to not only write with you, but just know you in general….. no homo tho lmao
✦ SOURCE ✦
Tommy. HOw dare you.
(edit: this gets long)
Dude I feel the same about you, estupido. The first time I met you (yes we were indeed talking about this the other day but it still makes me laugh) I was thinking
hoo shit. I gotta make a good impression, their [MUSE] is really good. LIke fuck thats’s a good [MUSE right there, look at that [MUSE]. We aren’t even in the same fandom so I gotta make this WORK.
And i fuckign approached you holding my trash son Sanchez. Fucking hell Idk how our friendship bloomed from that but I’m so glad it did. It was a chance I took joining that server in a fandom I was new to, and it was like. Heartbeat increase when you liked that starter call, even when you followed back. I’m only mad I didn’t join that fandom sooner when the show came out, I might have met you sooner.
You awakened an OLD old muse I had from the my first fandom and I really never said thank you for that. Usually when I go on hiatus on a blog, I find a new niche, super sudden hyperfixation and jump to a new blog, a new muse, a new train of thought. With Antoine? He might be a reboot, a new name, dialogue style, and even design, but he was always special to me since he was one of my VERY first.
Like when you, as a twelve year old, design an OC. They’re terrible, have emo hair, super overpowered and the hashtag tragic hero to your fanfiction. The New Love Interest to the main canon hero, and at the time you dont know they’re terrible but they ARE. Because you made something, you made them, and because of that they are special. You throw them out into the world, and just overall are happy to have accumulated thoughts, ideas, and everything else and made something, all by yourself.
And then, YEARS, even a DECADE later, you are reminded that they still exist. You have new ideas, new headcanons, and most importantly, NEW EXPERIENCE. You can articulate your thoughts right, you know the name of the game, and you can make them SO much better than they were. You know how to structure sentences, know how to balance power with weakness, and give them the round they need to feel real, not flat.
I’m rambling at this point because reasons but dude.
Simply by writing your own muse in the fandom I started rp with, I not only made a best friend, but rekindled a love for such a character that meant irrationally so much to me.
Thank you.
From your Boxman to your other muses, to us just fucking around in discord, to you dealing with my shit and in turn helping me grow as a person,
thank you.

(So I got a little behind on OK KO for a bit, and I had this in my drafts since before the Mr, Logic flashback episode. It’s been sitting around there since then, as I wanted to update this after catching up. BUT I’m actually forming a whole new thought thread based on what I’m seeing, so I’m posting this now as it was as a precursor to that. It’s a little outdated, but still holds a lot of relevant thoughts and I want to post it for reference.)
Ok so like, I wrote like six paragraphs on why the whole Pow card system frustrates me and I don’t know if anyone else has come to this conclusion and I haven’t seen it, or if this is just obvious to everyone and I’m an idiot for pointing it out. But like wow (I’ll get to Boxman’s level in a second just let me set the stage as it were)
POW card level isn’t an indicator of power level, it’s a reflection of your career as a whole, completely independent from physical stats like strength and speed and such.
I mean it makes total sense. Again, stop me if I’m just talking about the thing the fandom doesn’t talk about because it’s obvious but like....
On the scale we see (heros specifically)  0-1 (neutral parties, Hero’s who don’t put in a lot of active effort, new comers) 2-3 (those that are active, but repetitive in efforts. Don’t have many chances to prove significant jumps in heroism, the day to day heroes) 4-7 (young hero’s in official schooling systems who have more opportunity to prove themselves, and veterans with inactive careers, like Red Action and some of the older cast, 8-9 (those typically in this category are flashbacks, eventual bigshots who are still early in their career, see Laserblast) 10 and up (Veterans and big shots who are still extremely active)
(But “You’re level 100″ indicates that two level 5′s could beat a level 10 like it’s a power quantifier. I’m going with “K.O.’s idea, he’s a kid who doesn’t quite have it worked out, which is why no one else thought along those lines and indulged him. It worked, but there was no connection between the level and effectiveness, after Enid beat Elodie with skill alone, despite being a lower level, meaning it isn’t a one for one anyways)
We see POW card level being used as a badge of honor less as a means of “look how tough I am” and more “Look at everything I’ve DONE
after all, K.O. is less than 1, but we know for a fact he has a lot of hidden potential and power. So in this system, you could have low level hero’s who are extremely powerful, just inactive, or are still building their careers.
Shadowy Figure using his POW card as proof he’s trustworthy makes more sense. A powerful hero may be impressive, but if it’s an indicator of past deeds, then someone doing enough active good to be a level 8 is making good choices and is trustworthy
Outliers make more sense. Big Darrel, since he’s considered a separate entity level wise, exists only for a short amount of time and exclusively does bad deeds. With how Boxman bragged about Big Darrel’s level, I wouldn’t put it past him to have artificially inflated it to bust the Plaza’s moral. Hero and Galgarion as well. Hero doesn’t seem ridiculously OP for his level, and his increase comes from many small repetitive heroic actions, not actually getting stronger. It would make sense for two brothers to get into a POW level pissing contest for their initial disagreement as well.
Basically, level is bragging rights, the culmination of good vs bad deeds
I’ve got a lot more little details like that but the reason I’m bringing all this up here is Boxman’s Level, which has been the unexplained outlier for so long. He doesn’t seem to be the physical equivalent in power to Carol, who’s of the same level, and he gets no respect for his level despite being so high, and taken in the context as a career quantifier, that attitude towards him makes more sense now.
We get verbal confirmation in universe from Venomous that P.O.I.N.T. has significantly better resources than any of the villains. The indicated high grade villains also show a healthy fear of them, and “Villain’s night out” shows them as significantly outclassed. I’m not saying it for sure, but I wouldn’t put it past the current culture for P.O.I.N.T. to be purposefully stalling the villains out from a legislation standpoint. (edit side note: OH MY GOD The confirmation in Point to the Plaza that Point works like some sort of martial law and is a strong authoritarian presence of leadership in the culture of this world iS SO VALIDATING. I’ve been theorizing that POINT might be using “for your own good” mentalities to bully their views and how that might affect the general villainous populous FOREVER) The highest levels we see other than those that are grossly inflated (big Darrel, Galgarion) are Boxman, with the rest of them sitting pretty comfortably at 7′s and 8′s, several levels bellow most veteran hero’s
Boxman may be a much higher level than the rest of them, but he doesn’t play nice, doesn’t make an effort at teamwork for the greater evil agenda. Going solo, he doesn’t have much of a claim to regular impressive evil actions, his number one nemesis is a shopping center, his robots fail often (probably on the field after being sold too). He’s impulsive and hammy and doesn’t seem to plan things through. He’s probably seen as a one hit wonder has been at best, and at worst, a guy who got lucky once, got a very good level for it, and can’t recreate actual success. He gets little respect from other villains because he does nothing to cultivate respect from other villains. He’s not considered competent in part because of his rash temper causing mistakes yes, but also because he doesn’t fit in with conventional villain culture.
That being said, I absolutely believe in the #realness of his level
There is just to much evidence in favor of it
My personal first indicator was Boxman’s conversational tone in “Villain’s night Out” when discussing P.O.I.N.T.. His tone didn’t indicate bragging to me. it was less “Oh yeah I’m so tough POINT is out for me too” talk up, but more “Oh yeah jeeze, I can’t totally empathize and connect with you on this issue”. I chalked it up at the time to weird delivery, but my second watch through of the series it did make me more alert. Boxman’s internal robots, Mr. Logic, Earnesto, those meant for personal use and not exposed to the populace, are MUCH more competent than his heavy hitters. (edit: this was written before I watched “ok dendy let’s be ko”, but in a way this still stands. I do have thoughts about Ernesto on the field, which will come with the next big meta piece I have, but this is still relevant, trust me.) His acknowledgement of his personal flaws, working on them actively, but getting no where. His secret projects and the experimental nature of the random weapons and upgrades on his robots when he sends them out. His bursts of cruelty and hyper competence. The fact that Boxman is the only regular and discernible threat on the Plaza, and despite Garr being it’s overseer and a very competent one at that, Carol has apparently been placed by some organization (probably POINT) to make sure everything is under control…
Don’t get me wrong, I do think Boxman’s flaws are legit and not a rouse. He’s over focused on the Plaza, has trouble planning too far ahead, as a hair trigger temper and impulse control issues…
But I also think Boxman is hobbling himself.
*I think he did something big, something huge, or a had a series of larger victories. Started a name for himself. And POINT retaliated, HARD.
And being very much an all or nothing sort of attacker, being perfectly aware of his capabilities and flaws, Boxman may has been laying low since then. I think Boxman is 100% serious when he mentioned POINT always interfering in his plans to Venomous. Whether it’s a show of power, or more likely, financial crippling him in a way that he’s constantly pushing against, POINT has been keep an eye on him all this time and he knows it.*-(edit: again, I understand that this is in at least some small ways disproved by Lad and Logic, as we see that at that point, at the start of his obsession with the Plaza, Boxman has never openly attacked POINT, but is planning to, and we see the start and reasoning behind Boxmore industries. But I also feel that my reasoning still stands as well. also to be continued in my other meta post)
I think he’s crippling his robots on purpose, emotionally at least, to try and walk the fine line between the small destruction he craves and keep out of the limelight. I think he picked the Plaza as an easy place to test his experiments and make himself seem less competent with his goals to shake the heat and it got to real for him. I think he knows he’s only going to have one chance to make a big stand and he’s been working behind the scenes all this time. He’s been committing small time villainy to shake the trail off his bigger plans.
I think the show is sleeping on him, because he’s sleeping on him. He’s not ready to break his plans open yet.
I think part of Venomous’ reaction towards him in “We’re captured” and “Villain’s night out” were as much a hilarious evil boner as it was the realization that maybe Boxman’s past success wasn’t a fluke, that there’s competence enough to work with once you wade through all the ham that it might work. I think Venomous is just as bad as Boxman when it comes to classic hammy villain shenanigans, but has at least learned to fit in in modern Villain culture, and has realized that Boxman might be his one opportunity to go big or go home.

So how do you feel about the ok ko season finale
Spoilers under the cut
I felt the TKO bit had a nice conclusion– they spent enough time on it that it felt satisfying. I was NOT a fan of the Darrel betrays Boxman plot– mostly because I didn’t feel like it had been deserved. I mean, yes Boxman is a horrible father and deserved his kids finally lashing out. But within the two 10 minute episodes i didn’t feel like we had enough of a build up for Darrel to go from jealousy to betraying Boxman because he thinks his dad cares about the prospect of evil only.
I mostly bring this up because while we have seen jealousy within the bot siblings in the past, it never seemed to get to the point where Darrel was in this episode. It never seemed to reach a jealousy that came with spite for the newcomer. His father constantly makes new robots, after all.
Like I said, I just felt like nothing in that plot was really earned. I feel like maybe it would have been if we saw more moments of Darrel questioning how to ultimately make his father proud of him. More moments of anger over how they were treated.
On a different topic– I did like Junior’s design. And the sad thing? It took me until the fight sequence to realize he was a reference to Bowser Junior. Speaking of fight sequences, those were a lot of fun to watch. Very fluid animation. I just wished outside the fight sequences things could have stayed a bit more on model. I kinda found it  really distracting that I had to keep looking at different directions just to follow a character’s mouth. I understand the humor of it, just my eyes easily follow jerky movements so it was kinda just a moment of whiplash when characters were talking.
OVERALL FEELINGS: The TKO plot was enjoyable, but i didn’t find myself completely enjoying the B plot. It needed more time, and I felt the pacing was too fast. I would have enjoyed if the seeds of betrayal had been planted in earlier episodes, just like KO learning to work with/control TKO.
Also Darrel calling himself the new daddy was equal parts hilarious as it was horrifying.

Voxman Teacher AU Ch 1
Notes: This is an AU where both Lord Boxman and Professor Venomus are teachers at a highschool. It’s meant to be a lot more realistic and slice of life then the show so some things are different. Venomus is not the tall purple snake boy he is, but probably a tall jewish boy now. Boxman has a prosthetic arm and glass eye from a collage accident. And all the other fun sci fy fantasy cool stuff will be translated as such. Hope you all enjoy!
"Jesus, how does a kid think like this?" Boxman mumbled to himself as he sits alone in his room grading quizzes. "I gotta switch to quia or something." He stands up from his desk and stretches, this had been the third lunch this week he's spent in his classroom, doing work. It hasn't been easy, teaching high school physics/technology and trying to go back to night school himself. Most days would be filled with coffee, algebra, and confused teens, like this one. He looks back down to the paper on his desk and gives a sigh. "Have any of these kids even had geometry yet?" The physics papers were the worst, maybe a small break would ease his mind. Besides, he had a freshman class next hour, he needs this. He walked through the science hall and turned into a “secret” (janitorial) passage to enter into the back of the teacher’s lounge without having to interact with anyone. Nice, Boxy. He gave a sigh of relief as he was in the cushy safe haven of soft drinks and occasional pastries. He made himself a coffee, and sat down on the 50 year old couch that had been purchased before even he had started working here. He gave a deep breath over his coffee, sometimes just a change of scenery was nice. "That stuff’s gonna kill you, Boxman." Boxman jumped a bit as he looked up to see the gym teacher, Ms. Carol, winking at him as she grabbed an electrolite-filled beverage. "Ugh, come on Carol, I'm just trying to relax" "And you think you're gonna relax with that? It's caffeine Boxy, that's not gonna do you no good!" She takes the towel from her shoulder and places it on the counter. "You know, I always offer an after school workout program for the faculty and it's quite popular!" Boxman gave a shudder at the thought of having to take PE again, gym clothes, gym locker rooms. Boxman rushed to think of an excuse. "Oh no, I'm sorry Carol, I have the classes I'm taking down at the university. I've been stumped with work." Nice, Boxy. Carol gave a laugh. "Alright Boxy, but one day you're gonna run outta excuses and then-” she went into a power stance, "-Push Up time!" Boxman was terrified and Carol could tell. She laughed and said "I'm just messing with you, you'd only do what you'd want to." "Alright, but social pressures would tell me that I'd have to do it, so..." Carol chuckled. "Touché, Boxman." She put the towel back over her shoulder and started to head out "See you soon!" "See you, Carol." he said as she walked out. He gave a relieved sigh, talking with Carol was, a workout in itself. He snuggled his way back into that perfect groove in the couch and started to enjoy his coffee. The period wouldn't be over for another, 30 minutes? And most teachers didn't have a prep this hour so he could enjoy his alone ti... the door opened again. Boxman gave an internal sigh. He looked up to see who was there and was thrown off when he saw before him new Biology teacher, Dr. Venomous. He had only ever seen him in a few meetings but had never been personally introduced. Venomous was, impressive to say the least. He was younger than himself, and had been able to get a doctorate. Not to mention he was,, aesthetically admirable. Boxman shuffled in his seat and straightened his back a bit. "Hello there, Venomous, was it?" He managed to get out. Venomous turned his head to him "Yes, hello, Mr. Boxman," Damn, he nearly forgot about his voice too. The man could melt Gallium with a voice that warm. Venomous headed for the Mr Coffee and filled his thermos. "Is this seat taken?" He asked as he approached the couch and gestured to the opposing corner. "N-no, not at all!" Boxman said, surprised by the sudden interaction. "Well, you know, I'm still pretty new here and I'd thought I should get to know some other adults in this place." He gave a smirk. "I honestly think I'll pop a blood vessel if I have one more conversation that includes anime, fidget spinners, or sarcasm." Boxman chuckled at the comment, oh had he been there. "I'm so sorry, usually the first few years here you get a lot of freshman classes. I think it's the collective way to see if a teacher can handle the education profession or not" Venomous smiled back. "Or nah, as they would say." They both gave a pained laugh at the bad and obscure meme humor of freshman. High schoolers in general. But particularly freshman who couldn't quite get the jokes right.
“Heh, well I'm glad you've finally found an adult to talk to.” Boxman said. It was strange, he usually didn't warm up to people this quick. “You teach, biology right? That's a fun subject”
Venomous settled into his cushion. “Yeah, but I wish I could could actually teach them the good stuff. Besides just telling them ‘the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell’, I mean come on. At least let me talk about ETP or something more than that.”
Boxman rolled his eyes, “I know right? I mean how do I get it across to them that vectors are going to be important if you want to learn about the really cool stuff. At least I have the AP class that's actually excited about physics and my tech shop classes.”
“You teach tech shop as well? What do you do in there?” Venomous asked, intrigued.
“Well, you know, it's a separate room, we share with the wood shop kids, but I teach more about circuity and metal working then the other mediums. It's only for upperclassman but all the kids who take it really tend to like it.” Boxman looked over from his coffee to see a beaming and curious biology teacher looking back at him.
“That sounds great! It's amazing they can have that at the high school level. I didn't even step into a lab with a good microscope until college.”
Boxman gave a soft laugh. “I'm glad you think that way.” He looked down at his watch. Still 20 minutes left to the hour,
“Would you like to see it?”
Venomous looked enthralled by the offer but returned to his calm demeanor. “That would be, very nice” he said blushing a bit, letting his nerdiness get the best of him.
They walked side by side down the open hall. Not a soul around except for them and the occasional kid going to the bathroom. Each class they walked past gave an insight onto a new subject and a new 30 set of kids bored to death by it. They reached the room at the end of the hall opposing the art room and Boxman took a key from his pocket. He unlocked the door, lead them both in, and then flicked a switch. Lights came on and a large ventilation fan started humming loudly.
“Sorry for the noise, it’s kinda set so that if you want the lights on and to work in here at all, you gotta have the fan on too.” Boxman said.
“It makes sense, safety you know.” Venomous commented as he looked down and smiled at the man.
Boxman gave a blush and looked to the floor “Hah! Yeah well I was actually the one who did the electric work for that and,, man you don’t know how many kids I get complaining.”
“I don’t think they’re old enough to see quality work when they see it.” Venomous gave a wink. Damn that man was smooth.
“Oh, oh yeah! Yesthankyou we can proceed with the tour!” He guided the taller man into the room further as he tried to hide the rouge he gained from that sick compliment he just received. He got more comfortable as he entered into his element. “Yep! We have everything here from mass blank blue prints to an industrial sized soldering iron! As long as the kid can show they can do something safely and have an idea, we let them go nuts!”
“Wow! That’s really cool how they can have an opportunity like that at such a young age!” He said as he admired the equipment around him. His eyes lit up with excitement, “IS THAT A 3D PRINTER?!?” He looked down to Boxman who was beaming at his own excitement. He gave a stifled cough and walked over. “Heh, why does it have the word ‘Jethro’ engraved onto it?”
“Oh, well after we got the printer, my AP design class decided we had to name it. You know how kids are with their creativity.”
Venom gave a snicker. “Hm, yep, it’s our job as the public school system to crush that.” he said jokingly to Boxman.
Boxman laughed “Hah! Yeah well this class found it particularly important and somehow decided on the name Jethro. So I real quick engraved it and he’s been Jethro ever since.”
“Charming.” Venomous said with a smile.
“Thank you!” Boxman said.
Venomous leaned back against a desk and looked at Boxman. Oh shit, is he checking me out? “I gotta ask, and if it’s not too rude,” Venomous made a motion pointing to his left arm and eye.
“OH! Yeah that,,” Boxman trailed off as he realized Mr. Hot Teacher was Not checking him out.
Venomous gave a panicked look “Oh I’m sorry if that was a sensitive topic! I was just cur-”
“No it’s ok! I’m willing to talk about it,” Boxman gave a laugh and leaned against a desk of his own. “You know I don’t even consider it most of the time unless I’m scaring freshman to follow lab safety procedures.” What the two men were referring to was the glass, mildly red tinted eye surrounded by burn scars, and a left hand made of a simple metal rig instead of flesh. “You see, it was my senior year of college, I was up late in the workshop finishing my final. While I was soldering I hadn’t realized some potassium had mixed in with my soder god knows how. And this particular invention was suppose to hold water, so when I filled it in to test and checked inside the cartridge to see what was making a sound… Well, the rest is chemistry.”
Venomous gave a shudder. “Jesus thats a lot, I’m so sorry, Mr. Boxman.”
Boxman looked up and gave a slight smile. “It’s really ok! It didn’t stop me from getting a degree in engineering or my teaching certificate! And please, call me Boxy.”
Venomous reddened a bit at the sweet genuineness of the man. Even though he was probably in his mid 40’s, and not the most conventionally attractive guy, he was still pretty damn cute. Venomous’ gay thoughts were cut off by an abrupt bell.
“Welp, heh, end of this period I guess. It’s been fantastic talking with you!” Boxman said as he started out the other door that lead to the science hall. Venomous followed to get to his own class.
“Yeah, it’s been great talking with, you.” Venomous trailed off as the two headed in separate directions. He had never felt so immediately felt comfortable with someone like that, and neither had Boxman. They both had the feeling though that this would lead to something great.

A Closeted Situation
Lord Boxman swore if there was a god, it was laughing at him right now.Being stuck with arch nemesis in a closet, on Saturday was not how he wanted to spend his weekend at all. “So, huh this is awkward?” Lord Boxman rose his eyebrows at that. “Really,Gene ? I thought this was quite nice.” The sarcasm was just dripping from his voice. “You don’t need to be an ass about, and it’s Mr.Gar ,to you Boxman!” All Mr. Gar received, was a blank stare and a raised eyebrow. Before Mr.Gar could even retort and ask why he was in the bodega( probably to steal or destroy things). Lord Boxman did the last thing, he expected. Lord Boxman pounded on the door and screamed for help. “KO, ARE YOU OUT THERE ?!” Baffled, Mr.Gar tried to get him to just shut up because, god this was an embarrassing situation, when he heard a muffled reply. “Lord Boxman ?” The thought to reply to KO, quickly crossed Gar’s mind before Lord Boxan replied himself. “YES MY BOY, LISTEN COULD YOU GET US OUT OF HERE ? ME AND YOUR BOSS SEEMED TO BE LOCKED IN.” Another muffled reply from KO. “Yes sir! I will just be a few minutes promise, and I’ll be back with the key! Lord Boxman did a quick fist pump and, “THANK YOU,KO!” And, Mr.Gar heard hurried footsteps and a sigh of relief from Lord Boxman. “What was that,Boxman?” Lord Boxman’s eyes narrowed at that comment. A small comment ,yes, but he new all too well the malice behind it, in fact he could feel it. “I don’t know, what do you mean Gene, Are you talking about me, talking to KO? Or are you referring to how I got us out of this situation?” That was the final straw for Mr.Gar, He grabbed Lord Boxman by his lab coat and bringing Lord Boxman face to face with himself. “Why pray tell, are you suddenly so buddy-buddy with KO!?” Lord Boxman’s facade broke, and Mr.Gar finally saw a side of him that most, don’t get to see. Then in a flash Lord Boxman, switched their positions, bringing Mr.Gar face to face with him, while himself on top of Mr.Gar and then slapping him across the face. “Look here Gene, the boy needs a stable father figure,to which you are not. I know what it’s like growing up without one, which is why i'm so buddy-buddy as you put it. Believe it or not Gar, I am a good dad. I treat my sons and daughter with respect and- They both heard the quick hurried footsteps of a 6 to 11 year old, and stopped their quarrel. All too quick for someone his size, Lord Boxman pushed himself off of Mr.Gar and lean against the back wall. And Mr.Gar fell out of the broom closet. “Are you okay Mr.Gar ?!” Then, as quickly as he fell, Mr.Gar was helped up by an all too enthusiastic KO.The after mumbling to the worried boy he was fine, adjusted his glasses and rubbed his eyes. His gaze fell on Lord Boxman once more, who was walking toward Enid at the cash register. Before Mr.Gar, could even call out to her for a fighting pose, she stood up and payed for a product ?! Mr.Gar rushed his way to the counter and slammed his hand down on it, and glared at Lord Boxman.Who,just had a bored and annoyed look on his face. “What do you think you’re doing Boxman ?” “For your information, Gene, I put in an order for a special birthday cake for Darrell and Shannon. You know how twins are right ? They fight over everything, but god, you better treat them the same, or else am I right ? Now if your done, I have a party to prepare for back home.” His attention to Enid, and payed for his goods. Before Lord Boxman could walk out the store, KO ran over to him. He gave him tight hug and a kiss on the forehead, and Mr.Gar could have sworn he heard him saying that Darrel and Shannon could wait to see him tomorrow for the party. Then Lord Boxman gave quick glare at Mr.Gar and walked out, and KO went back to cleaning the back of the Bodega. He stood there for about a minute, before he noticed Rad and Enid staring at him. Then at an inhuman speed turned his head around. “GET BACK TO WORK” Mr.Gar, then went to look for KO, because as much as he hated Boxman, he had a point. The boy needed some kind of stable figure in his life. And maybe , just maybe He could be that for KO.

Panda thoughts
We’re now in a Quantum state with the characterization of Panda on We Bare Bears. You could very easily change it so that he’s learning about his sexuality or gender identity or something. This is the type pf character and time/situation that tends to attract people to lionize a character in a form of identity. Sometimes this can be good, after all I’m promoting the comic that basically recast and frames the Fryman family as a combination of both stand-in and actual trans Folk or as bisexual or homosexual. When a character ultimately speaks to a group reinterpreting them for that purpose is another form of enjoying art
However part and parcel of the entire slash phenomenon is in many ways a kind of sexism. As soon as someone is a man and they in any way leave the check list of traits that we very rigidly and commonly defined as heterosexual or masculine than they must be gay or queer in some way Now interpretation is always going to be differing line for some people. For me when a work has aspect that does it seem as if gay characters exist or even being considered. Because by defining that boundary you can indicate that you understand how each is supposed to work. We bare Bears is definitely a show where gay people could exist. We often see same sex pairings which may be friends or may actually be dates. Of course it’s set in San Francisco and I think everybody knows that bear is often slang for a type of gay man by now.  OK KO is the same with two subtle but rather explicit male/male relationships (Lord Boxman and Professor Venomous, Nick Army and Joff, possibly Brandon and Real Magic Skeleton)  As such though I’d have put money on Gar being gay he really seems into Carol/KO’s mom.  No need to reinterpret characters being gay if speculation or be open to the idea. Panda in particular has always given off two contrary aspects which works for a comedy character. He’s incredibly thirsty for female companionship and romance and even has some retrograde and selfish ideas about what it is to be a woman and wanting to have one for his very own. . At the same time he often shows interest and is very very often put in scenarios in which he’s more or less easily inferred as being sexually gratifying or romantically pursued or entangled with a male character. At first this was Grizz later this was Charlie.
The overall idea of Charlie and Panda getting together as a couple definitely has some appeal. In the fact that a lot of the things that we associate with a romance, namely attaining emotional maturity, interaction, and learning to cross boundaries are very much a part of pandas experience when he’s interacting with Charlie. However at the exact same time I feel in order to make this subtext happen people are often ignoring the full context of it. Would we really be comfortable with the idea- if we’re all being gender-blind or not being limited by gender assumptions- with a romantic pursuer that constantly violate someone’s personal space keeps on insisting on intimate forms of address at the person’s constant denial who often never wants to be intimate or physically near the person? Panda has a lot of anxieties that Charlie attacks. This is fun to see because it creates drama and Conflict for us as well comedy. But does this necessarily mean that the best person for panda is Charlie?
In some ways I much prefer the idea that Charlie is certainly someone who’s helping Panda expand but he’s not necessarily going to be his romantic love interest. I like the idea ultimately that Panda’s Journey has been about becoming a full-fledged full rounded person. Someone who can appreciate a romantic partner and all that that entails as well as being seen fulfilling someone else’s needs. More importantly a lot of the Romantic elements that people Champion as being indicative of Panda’s deep down attraction to Charlie kind of bother me in the context in which they are presented in the show and then taken out in order to share among the fans
In Charlie’s Foot Panda does not want to be associated with Charlie at all. The only time he starts to reciprocate is when he’s been drugged out of his mind and been forced by his brothers in order to do so. It’s kind of off-putting because it’s implied that someone can be effectively harassing the person physically and emotionally they have to break down and eventually accept what’s happened. If Panda was a girl and Charlie was doing this I imagine that a great deal of fans would feel deeply uncomfortable by the subtext implied
I’m uncomfortable with the subtext implied by fan interpretations of Charlie effectively getting through to Panda as a romantic interest. Panda is straight. It’s as simple as that so far. Maybe he is bisexual or gay or maybe his sexuality is fluid. All of these are things that I can advocate and if they end up going there in the show I’m going to be interested. But I feel as if in fan presentation there’s this overall belief that there only way that Panda can actually Advance is if he’s ultimately going to turn out to be gay and especially gay for Charlie
This feels off-putting because Panda shows not just a disinterest in male contact but repulsion towards male contact outside of very specific areas. More importantly I think we kind of crossed this kind of subject matter several times in the show with the encounter of Tom and the number of times he’s had to interact with Charlie, Grizz, or be seen as “Cute.” He started to get out of his shell, yes, but it seems weird to say that the only way that he can ultimately grow up is if he decides to date dudes. He effectively ended up dating with Tom and that didn’t solve any of his problems his relationship with him in fact that highlighted a lot of the problems he already had
Effectively Charlie is fulfilling the role that often a love interest or pseudo love interest does in stories. He’s effectively affecting pandas character growth helping him become more empathic and see the world in a different light.
The one time he accepted Charlie’s advances sober was preceded by “ I’m just too tired to fight you off anymore.” Does that seem really all that romantic or respectful or a positive message? That said, the idea in fan circles is given a lot of good use. I love how one fan artist has had kids for them and their characterization
Tumblr media
and they have this really great comic where they have both kids talk to buy both parents and they explain how they ultimately ended up together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(reference)
That all said I often feel as if people re-characterize Charlie so he’s just a manic pixie dream girl there to enable male loves male scenarios. He’s missing a lot of his full characterization just so that that way he can be romantic love interest and given the changes that this demands of Panda’s core characterization, motives, goals, and progress that also bothers me I really do like some of the effort that’s been put into Panlie idea. So I’m in this weird place where I really like the fan idea but I’m not sure if I ever wanted to become Canon because it feels off to validate or say that that’s appropriate behavior. A lot of this came to head for me and some of the on Tumblr reaction to Summer Love. Panda’s actually been advancing in terms of his lovelorn character traits. For one he’s can actually seem to expand Beyond just Manga and Anime. If anything his relationship with Amanda felt more appropriate. Yes he did a lot of the Romantic pining and projecting but in some ways a lot of this was based on him putting in actual effort and other things. The fact that he’s able to finally get it and the conclusion of how things are supposed to be and appreciate that someone else has their own aims in life to live shows genuine maturity on his part. More importantly compared to most of his other attempts where it was like, “pretty girl I want to have her” here he saw someone whom he had potential connection with and connected her plights with his.
He often didn’t seem to want to do something for someone he acted to do something to get someone. By contrast and comparison hei returning of Amanda’s phone, while of course involving some selfishness, is ultimately about fulfilling her. it’s why he doesn’t try to push any further when he realizes that she’s going her separate way. Unlike the manga who he’s been imitating he actually doesn’t force her to stay or choose him. So overall this is just me thinking out loud about characterization and reception. What are your thoughts?

Another Thing Unpopular Opinion:
(I'm going to reference another "Villian Snake Dad", so bear with me.)
I didn't like the reveal because Venomous and Lazerblast being the same person is just unbelievable.
Now, I get that we saw the possibility coming due to his voice and facial features, but come on. Personality wise, Venomous and Lazerblast are too seperate for this to make sense.
"But Sci, one is a villian and the other is a hero! Of course their personalities would be different! Hes a villian now so hes bad!"
Yes, but no. And heres where I bring up another Villian 'dad' character who made the switch from promising hero to villian in a set-up nearly identical to Venomous:
Chase Young from Xaiolin Showdown.
Now, unlike Ven, we don't get to see Chase as his hero self until the final episode, but the character is STILL recognizable as the villian we all came to know when the shift was made. Hes still fair and honorable in his ways and while the way Chase speaks and carries himself is altered, its only just enough that you can tell hes gone rouge.
Bringing it back to Ok KO, they didn't quite (at all) hit the mark when doing that with Venomous and Lazerblast.
How so? Well, if theres one thing Venomous isn't, its insecure about his abilities and desperate. Hes very suave and cool headed and other people's opinions don't matter to him. Even early on, he was a villian who was tired of his desk job who fell in love with Boxman and was a good father to his minion.
Meanwhile, Lazerblast was one of the heads of P.O.I.N.T, and while he was a stereotypical 'cool guy', he was also a pretty big goofball and seemed to love his girlfriend very much and was a lot like KO. You couldn't really picture him doing what Venomous does (like date Boxman) and vise versa (seriously, show of hands if you could actually picture Venomous sleeping with Carol.)
And I don't know where the "So crazily insecure that I'll purposefully misinterpret my pregnant girlfriend's distressed outburst, even though its such a stretch it barely makes rational sense" part of their personality is supposed to come from, but it sure as shit isn't the happy middleground for his "growth" (???)
Venonous comes off more as a fine wine born into old money, not a villian who "grew" out of his insecurities, while Lazerblast is that cherry slushie you pick up from the gas station. You can't marry those two together without having to pull the "insanity" card of most villians and I don't think thats what the series was going for.

OK KO The Power Is Your's
3:39 pm I've just watched the episode and okay gonna say this first. I missed the first part a bit and started at the part where this giant spray was being well spray a can of it.
DONE WITH THIS AT END I MENTIONED SPOILERS
Because I was watching this video talking about these leaks about possibly PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale 2 being announced this October which is this month and just those leaks from 4Chan were deleted and just like the guy said just....take it with a gain of salt but the fact that stuff was deleted makes me think. Including how just....the choosing just these four characters at first sorry whatever this is something else.
But basically I missed the first part a bit.
Honestly I did like the episode. Yet really just it's not my favorite. But yeah I missed the first part and that could of affected some of my thoughts. I'm talking about the part where the world gets sprayed.
Yet I also wanna talk about this. I'm not a fan of Captain Planet yet I'm thinking I forgot if I've ever seen the show maybe. Including I seriously question why the fuck Ian and who else decided to think of this crossover could be a good idea. Yet I'm sounding like a douche but what the episode shows and speaks I think I get what it's trying to do. Oh head no it doesn't suck.
Really let's say and I am one of the people just it's not a major game. Yet I'm not the biggest fan of Captain Planet's being included in a game called Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL which I have for PS3. But also me being not the biggest fan and despite the theme of the show. I think I have seen episodes when I was very young.
But sorry let's talk about the episode. So it seems like a Captain Planet villain shows up and teams up with Lord Boxman and his robotic children, they start some pollution with a spray mainly around the plaza despite the world is shown. Including the villain makes the mention some people believe climent change however it's spelt doesn't exist.
Let me say just yes their are people who seriously think that oh head yet I believe come on it's obvious it exists.
KO is the first to notice this. Yet Rad and Enid don't give a shit despite the signs. Including with KO finding out it's Boxmore on the other end doing this. Also seeing it's kind of well yeah flooded. One of the original Planeters however it's spelt but one of the people who has one of the rings arrives and KO and him team up.
Including with Rad, Enid, and that skeleton guy and bear guy I can't believe I don't know their names yet. He gives me them rings too.
KO has heart and honestly that fits him so much.
Rad had fire.
Enid has water.
The other two skeleton and bear have wind yet they have to share.
Basically them and the other guy summon Captain Planet and try to kick the villains ass, yet because of Boxman and his robots he basically disappears not killed.
Then they try to summon him again but the others argue and the original guy mentions of why the others got jobs and KO is able to get them working together again because of his ring of heart.
I'm honestly gonna say this episode was silly. Yet it's mainly due to how I remember how weird it is. Including just I am not so used to Captain Planet yet I just....I forgot if I ever made fun of him. Yet I grew up around people who didn't like the character. It's just weird and yet this could apply to any person who's a fan of a franchise or series that has a crossover with a series they were never really a fan of.
Yet yeah it was funny at times but I feel and I was thinking about the episode of what it was trying to do.
But I wanna mention this I don't know just if this is the episode itself or my tv yet I saw some black lines going back and forth a bit like it was something old long ago. It's not too noticable yet it's something I saw. I thought it might be something they did on purpose and the episode was gonna end like all of a sudden and we go back to the real world of OK KO and the characters go like what the fuck in a way.
But no it doesn't end like that. Including I wanna say it seems Boxman develops a crush of some sorts on this Captain Planet villain yet she goes away because something you can make anywhere dirty or just the shit that happened. Including it breaks Boxman's heart despite how silly it is of how it's portrayed one of the times I found funny.
Now we get to the ending. When KO mentions stuff like everything is back to normal and some shit. Captain Planet talks about how that's not really true.
I think I had thought of this during the episode. Listen and wanted to talk about this OK KO is a light hearted show yet it's very meaningful at times.
But during the episode and I don't wanna cause drama but basically just I feel the whole episode was trying to tell us something. I know I'm sounding stupid because it was trying to teach us this.
Basically Captain Planet and the other guy sorry forgot his name and just I'm sorry out of focus not seeing the first part and I don't focus on names at times unless their said a lot despite I remember it was shown. But they talk about how even if Captain Planet can clean some stuff up. It's gonna keep happening. Including the other guy I think it was him no must be him said climent change is permanent.
Then we get to just the weirdest part of the episode. Where it seems to be the most silly.
Yet I was well kind of horrorified ha lol okay to smile yet everyone such as Captain Planet, the other guy, and the other people who originally had the rings come back, in their original art style. But to make things no not worse oh my head but crazy KO, Rad, Enid, and Mr. Gar show up and just is very weird.
Wanna be honest if I can but some what disturbing. Meh I don't wanna say I hate it. Yet I'm shocked they did that. Because it's just okay not out of nowhere but you don't expect it.
I even wanna say I was thinking when I saw that. People on Tumblr mainly OK KO fans are gonna have a lot of fun, for some stupid meme shit and people's reactions being WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK for me just seeing in a real realistic versions of characters I like drawn like that was weird.
Yet I feel people are gonna have fun with those and people are gonna be freaking out because I was bothered to by that ha okay to smile.
But I'll just skip to this and wanted to say this before I wanted to write this and okay maybe during the episode.
I think of Ian and seriously no offense if someone else helped with him this please tell me yet I keep reading this was Ian's idea. Yet I feel like what he was trying to tell us with this episode was this.
Guys this shit is happening for real. We are seriously ignoring it. Our world is in some real shit and I'm talking about climent change. Theirs actual fucking people who don't believe in that shit so to prove my point I'm gonna bring a character from my childhood and have him crossover with my own show. We did to do something, we need to help the planet, our president fucking sucks he's one of the people who doesn't believe in climent change. We need to actually fucking help or some shit.
Okay that was a bit too long. I wanted to mention the president thing just I don't like talking about politics at times and our president if I remember has said he doesn't believe in climent change. I don't wanna make that the big deal of this. Also seriously the past few weeks have sucked and I question the government at times and even said one time I'm surprised we haven't....become the Helghast and overthrown our government. That's a reference to Killzone and just some stuff has made me question of reblogging stuff about some news sorry.
Really it was a nice episode I don't mind it. But it's not my favorite and during yeah looked at my last paragraph. Ether it's just me or I'm not the biggest fan wow I am being a big hypocrite.
Yet I was gonna say I'm not the biggest fan of crossovers like this. These silly short ones. Why I mentioned I'm a big hypocrite I liked Rugrats Go Wild where the show Rugrats crossovered with The Wild Thornberrys, the Nicktoons Unite games, and that Jimmy Timmy Power Hour trilogy. Those are ones I mostly enjoyed because of them being stuff I like.
Including I wanted to mention I'm so used to awesome kick ass crossovers such as the guest characters in games like Mortal Kombat, Injustice, also yeah the comic book stuff such as DC crossovers but I'm talking about other stuff. Including PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, and despite Marvel vs Capcom Infinite seems to be the weakest of the Vs Capcom games some of the story haven't watched all of it. It's very simple yet it's nice to see some interactions despite some choices being made. I even like Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe yet that game is weak compared to others after it.
Also Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe is the reason why I seem big into crossovers okay the Nicktoons Unite games started it or some shit. But playing MK vs DC when I was younger when it first came out inspired me to think of and draw a shit ton of Cartoon Network vs Nicktoons.
Including I'm one of the few or many people who wants a Sega vs Capcom. I even talked to myself last night I'm surprised Sega and Capcom haven't done that yet, and me discussing Sonic has been in T rated games before.
But also I wanna talk to my friend about how I would be horrible at picking characters for the Sega side because I like Sega and some of their games. Yet the first big characters list I had to make it to 48 when I put 9 Sonic characters because I felt they were important.
That got off topic yet was talking about crossovers.
Got tags done and well I put spoilers and was gonna put now but yeah I put spoilers in case despite the tag 4:29 also was gonna say again I'll see the new viewing to see the start 4:29 now turned 4:30 pm forgot to mention this.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the Steven Universe Uncle Grandpa crossover despite at first liking it and I did like Uncle Grandpa, but over time just meh I have to grow up I just don't like it much. Yet this episode was enjoyable and silly but not one of my favorites and I in the words of Lori Loud I littertly talked about crossovers 4:31 pm
