Spoilers for
Criminal Minds S14 Finale and just like all of S15 story wise
“I needed to say something to catch his attention… and to catch your attention”
JJ… man was focused the whole time, never once was he not taking in your reaction and how the unsub was reacting to everything. Trust me man was paying atttention. Like he wasn’t just staring it down like in S14 E1 “300” no he was observing everyone and he was planning, not coming up with connections, lost in his own big brain.
(Also not them starting the season with JJ talking to Emily about how Reid asked her on a date and she misinterpreted as a hangout. Her and Emily both laughing bc wow that’s something and really started the trio of JJ, Garcia, and Reid…
And then proceeding to end with JJ confessing that she loves him…. Like what and this messes with their duo so much like whyyyy would you throw out that friendship!!!)
Also I’m not appreciating 1) Dave Rossi going pop off solo in this 2) the fact that Reid was aware to come in and talk to Rossi about their difference of opinions and come to same conclusion while Emily completely shuts Rossi down… especially when he was trying to communicate (when he very well was not doing earlier in the episode…)
Also only Reid double checking on JJ T-T

Also I feel like this awkwardness honestly takes away from this being a huge time where JJ was injured and on her own with the unsub instead of Reid. And they took a killer agent out of the field by leaving Reid over JJ. Also Reid being so respectful to Will and trying so hard to like you know not have this whole thing effect anything. And immediately apologizing and litteraly just speaking and poor baby Reid doesn’t know how to explain emotion and ahhhh him crying.

In need of one of your rambles about Kelly and Jack right now, please. All this talk about him being destiel's love child?? No, he is Kelly's son first and foremost.
Hey, anon.
First of all, y’all will never hear me say that Cas isn’t 100% Jack’s dad, because he is. But Jack being reduced to destiel’s baby in a lot of fanon circles makes me endlessly mad because Jack has a lot of people he sees as parental figures, and while Cas is rightfully very high on that quality ranking Dean is quite low. AND, to make matters worse, it erases other key contributions. Yes, Sam’s, but there have been a bunch of posts made about that already. And Kelly’s influence is so often forgotten or glossed over in other scenarios as well, so thanks for the opportunity to talk about it. It feels kinda timely today.
You said Jack is Kelly’s son first and foremost, and I agree. Despite Jack viewing multiple people as father figures, and despite how close he is with Cas specifically, he’s 100% a mama’s boy. He kept her name, he has a picture of her on his nightstand, and you can bet he still watches that flash drive regularly. He’s constantly worried about her- one of the first things he asked Cas about was Heaven, because he wanted to make sure Kelly was okay. He’s actually asked about if Kelly’s safe in Heaven multiple times, the other that I can remember off the top of my head being 14x09. I think his decision to renovate Heaven was entirely in character, because he was probably thinking of ways to fix it up to make it better for his mother his entire life.
And he looks to her as a moral compass! The prevailing reason why he gave Lucifer a shot in s13 was because Kelly told him no one would blame him for being curious about him. He’s feeling lost in early s14, and by that point Cas had probably told Jack everything he could about Kelly, so Jack seeks her out by going to her parents. He’s more concerned about if she’s safe than the fact that he just got chased by sentient goop in 14x08, and her (and Cas) being on board with the plan for his resurrection assured him that it was okay. In 14x20 he hits a point where he doesn’t know what to do, so he seeks out Kelly for guidance through Grandma Kline. When that doesn’t work out he seeks out his secondary guiding force- Cas.
My point is that I think Jack absolutely views himself as Kelly’s son first, and tries to live up to her legacy in any way he can. Like he said to his grandparents, he hopes to have a little bit of her purpose and courage. I don’t know about y’all, but I think he for sure got there.
Anyway, he’s Jack KLINE for a reason. That reason is that he never forgot about his mother, no matter how much he loves Cas as his dad (and the Winchesters to a lesser extent) so we as a collective fandom shouldn’t forget about her either.

My 15x17 Opinion

Wow! This one was a rollar coaster ride! I’ve seen positive and negative responses from y’all but I’ll say, though it had its flaws, I thought it was basically what I watch the show for. Tension drama, emotion, twists and turns and all that good stuff!
We start off that Sam is still angry with Dean and giving him the silent treatment. A typical Winchester argument occurs but comes to a painful halt when Sam says, concerning Jack “We dont give up on family!!” and Dean returns fire with “Jack’s not family!!” OMG I could HEAR Sam’s heart shatter! Dean isn’t wrong in his follow up though, they both care for Jack a lot (Sam evidenty moreso) but he’s not family at their level, or even Cas’s level for that matter. This isn’t anything we shouldn’t aready know. Michael!Dean even pointed this out in s14.
I don’t think this means Dean doesn’t love or care about Jack at all. In fact Im sure he does even if he still holds a grudge, but he’s not on Sam level, no one is... nor is he on Mom, Dad, Bobby or Cas level, but maybe Rowena level? Id say somewhere between Rowena level and Kevin level.
Sam loves Jack and apparently thinks of him as his son, though he never says it. He has said “He’s our kid!” but never said Jack is like a son to him. Im not going to go too meta on this, but I kinda think Dean’s line of thought is “Well Sam and I both have died to save the world, why can’t Jack?” and Sam is thinking “Enough of this damn dying to save the freakin world!” but thats my opinion :)
Of course Jack overhears which also hurt and he asks Sam if hes mad at him. Sam weighs his words so well to make sure Jack knows Sam understands and appreciates the mission, but he thinks its wrong.
I have mixed opinions of the Amara and Chuck portions. I think Amara was great! I really like her, but I was distracted by an OTT Chuck that I really didnt like. Not just on a bad guy level but the childishness was much more like a bad impression of Lucifer than any Chuck we’ve seen. Im still hoping beyond hope that Chuck gets redeemed some way though I think its not very likely. But it aint over till its over and SPN has surprized me a million times before.
Adam and Serafina were annoying. I thought it also very weird that Dean thought the woman must be Eve when he killed Eve in S6. Guess they forgot s6, but thats ok, I try to forget it too!
So Jack becoming a bomb is the only way to defeat Chuck. Im gad to hear Sam call Dean out on his “Its the only way” attitude. I flash back so Sacrifice in s8 when Sam was going to martyr himsef ... again... and when Dean found out Sam would die, all of a sudden, this isnt the only way!! “We have enough information to turn the tides here... think about what we know....” to show Sam that they do have options, and yet, when it doesnt have to do with Sam’s life, Dean becomes somewhat of a defeatist. (its ok Dean... I know theres a “Samception” to every rule 😉🤜🤛)
Meanwhile Sam and Cas figure out how to get to Billies Library. Im kinda sad they keep using Meg as The Empty, Im so down for Megstiel, I wish theyd go that route instead. Anyway, she confirms that Billie needs him so maybe if she starts kiling him, Billie will come. Sam lies his way out of that and tricks her into giving him God’s book. Now we have that and Im curious as to why Billie and/or Chuck need Sam. I still think for Sam to die, Dean needs to kill him and this is why Chuck manipulated Dean to pull a gun on him, which goes well with OG Death needing Dean to kill Sam, or “Ill do it for you” and OGs Death’s eagerness to reap him. This is intriguing, and I cant even meta on it, because I have no clue LOL
So we have this crazy physical fight between Sam and Dean which leads us to Sam’s touching speech. “What about me? Would you trade me?” The line that of course, stops Dean in his tracks. I THINK that if Billie resets everything that Sam stays dead from s2? Or maybe just since she has been Death and Sam would stay dead when he got vamped in the AU? Im not sure, but Sam didnt seem to mean that Dad would have stayed dead from before Mom made her demon deal, or that would just mean neither would exist.
Sam tells Dean that he’s always protected him, from Dad, from Lucifer etc... and I see a lot of controversey on Tumblr about this statement as an attack on John. I don’t really think so, though no matter how much of a John fan you are, the show never paints him as an ideal father. Its not “these new writers” its every writer since the Pilot. Since season 1 John has been depicted as an obsessed man who raised them to be hunters, left them alone as children for days/weeks at a time and had anger and drinking issues, all while showing that he loves his boys, wants them to be safe and ultimately only wanted what was best. I dont see the show ever depicting him as physically abusive, so its not hard to imagine that Dean would have stepped into a verbal argument between Sam and Dad to distract Dad before it got messy like we saw him do a couple times in S1.
So Sam goes on saying he didnt always like “it” either being protected or the form of protection used, but regardless, its the only thing he could rely on, and the ony thing he knew was true. And in this moment while Dean still wants to kill Chuck, Dean probably believes its whats best for Sam too, to get off the wheel so to speak, but if Billie wins, would he no longer have Sam?? YIKES!! Winchester tears all round! And ya know, I actually like that Sam just said “put down the gun” instead of like “believe in us too” something about it made it feel more critical. Like Dean had lost his shit and Sam knew it. Dean could cry and hug him and tell him he loves him more than life, but Sam is still in danger of Chuck manipulating Dean into killing him, untill Dean puts down the gun.
Meanwhile Chuck talks Amara into becoming part of him again, to be one. This also gave me feels. But now here comes a super pissed off, super charged Chuck who has had it with these boys. “After everything, you still do this!!” and now they get to watch Jack die.... maybe.. to be continued.
So yeah I reallly liked this episode despite the annoying issues. Definitey on my “watch again” list!
So on a scale from Bloodlines to Lebabon I give Unity a 8.5. Thanks guys I needed that!

So I’ve been talking with @shadowpaintedrose a lot over the last few days, and after my last reply, I wondered if I should post this theory on my blog, and she encouraged me to, so here it is. With the reminder that this was spitballing at the end of an ongoing back and forth conversation. While I do actually think a lot of this is likely (or if not probable, at least POSSIBLE), I’m issuing the disclaimer that I don’t have any secret knowledge about what will actually happen over the rest of the season.
There’s a few things that I am relatively certain about, others that are just guesses, and I’m not telling y’all which are which. :’D
And after rereading all of this, I forgot to mention the other Wild Card Character of the season-- Amara. But I believe she’s gonna fall in with Team Free Empty, too... so that said, I’ll start with shadowpaintedrose’s message to me, and then my reply begins with the shouty-caps, as I’m wont to do... Under a cut because this is WILD SPECULATION.
Yeah, at the end of the day, the ship stuff matters less to me than Rowena coming back. Yes, I want her with Sam, but what I really care about is that she doesn't stay dead, at least not like that. Damn, watching the witch go through her stuff actually made me really emotional and upset. To see HER belongs (even if they weren't "the good stuff") be so carelessly thrown around was straight-up painful.

I see Chuck’s fingerprints all over that, and I’m really hoping Death Is An Infinite Vessel is the whole key to the season. I’ve been speculating about Billie-as-Dabb for YEARS, and do you even know how frustrating it’s been that we haven’t seen what’s going on in the empty yet? :’D
I’m about at the point where I’m ready to lay bets on whether Billie has yoinked Rowena to the Empty to help convince Jack that he needs to nut up and go back to Earth, and Jack’s being all emo about it.
I have a Terrible Feeling that Cas is going to die/sacrifice himself in the midseason finale, as the catalyst for Jack being returned to the narrative. Obviously Cas will be back, too, but I’m thinking that will spur Rowena’s return, as well. And we’ll learn that all along Billie has been planning this entire overthrow of Chuck’s increasingly chaotic “storytelling.”
All of Chuck’s “retcons” are being lampshaded in text, and the ONLY thing that hasn’t been lampshaded is what’s happening in the Empty. Because the empty is in literal shadow, a place where Chuck can’t see, where his light has no power.
It’s... fantastic! And I think it’s going to rely on these three characters, specifically-- Jack, Cas, and Rowena. Because they’re the elements that Chuck’s writing hasn’t ever truly been able to control.
I keep seeing speculation that it’s Cas alone who will be the “spanner in the works” that Chuck can’t control, but it’s so much more than that.
Jack is the ultimate spanner in the works, a being with god-level powers AND free will? Chuck spent TWO YEARS trying to tear Jack down with his story, you know? Shuttle him to another dimension, have Lucifer rip out his grace, push him to burn off his soul and self-destruct... the only thing that worked was Chuck finally “outing” himself and breaking his own narrative to kill Jack personally. Jack is A Problem that Chuck... cannot abide in his story.
Cas, of course, is a bit of a conundrum for Chuck, because Cas-- unlike most of the rest of the angels-- has embraced free will and humanity above the rules and order of Heaven. I don’t think Chuck actually can control beings with free will. I mean, he can alter their situation, cut off potential options on the menu of things they can choose, funnel them down narrative alleyways where they appear to have “no other choice,” but ultimately he can’t control what they will choose in the end. Which is why he’s spent so much time breaking down Dean’s will by making it seem as if he’d never really had choices at all. Which led to Dean driving Cas out of his life for fear that Cas had never really been real, either. I mean one of the first things Cas ever said to Dean was that he was rescued from Hell because God commanded it... so was anything ever real after that point? GAH. Okay, so Chuck thinks Cas is out of the way now. And Cas recognizes this now, “If I stay, nothing will change.” He needs to “get back in the game.” He can’t run from the story, because he understands that he himself is an element of change.
And Rowena... I think she’s going to need to nut up herself and have to admit that she wants Jack to come back, not because of his power, or some noble goal of saving the world, but BECAUSE OF LOVE. And this will be her defining moment.
You know how we’ve talked about Jack as the mirror to all of TFW? And who’s been directly involved in so much of the Jack Business especially in s14 and yet who’s always been on the FRINGES of TFW, because she has not fully been able to admit that she might actually LOVE these people-- INCLUDING JACK, who specifically died after saying he was INCAPABLE OF FEELING LOVE FOR CAS despite knowing that he was SUPPOSED to, but without his soul could not? Yeah, Jack’s now a direct mirror for Rowena, too. Welcome to the family, Ro.
*THIS* is their final resolution, their happy ending, the “paradise” Jack convinced Cas of. Cas had put ALL of his faith in Jack, to the point that he’d BELIEVED that his role in all of this, that his key into the Winchester family was only THROUGH JACK and not for HIMSELF. That’s what Cas must understand in order to actually *achieve* happiness in the end.
Same thing for Rowena. Sort of. For her, it’s about EXPRESSING love for others, and trusting she’s not being used for her powers or her body.
Which is... fundamentally what Jack needs to understand about himself. Both sides of this. They do what they do for love, not just because “they’re the guys that save the world” over and over again because of Chuck’s never-ending story.
This is how they win.
Now that I’ve typed all this out, I’m seriously debating whether I should post it publicly or not. Granted this is some pretty wild speculation, but heck. I legit think this is how the rest of the season is gonna go...

Supernatural 14.20 (Season Finale)
After watching this episode, and if I’m being honest for the last couple of episodes, I can fully understand why j2 decided to end this show and while it’s still painful and I’m still not ready to let Sam and Dean go, sometimes letting go of the things we love is for the best and I think this is one of those cases. The love and thought and quality is not there anymore from the EPs/writers, so I’m thankful j2 decided to end Supernatural. I’m sure it wasn’t an easy decision because I have no doubt in my my mind that they love this show but it was the right thing to do. It’s time to say goodbye to this show, I’m just sorry we have to say goodbye to it with Dabb at the helm.
I don’t know where to begin and I have a lot to say so this isn’t going to be very linear, in fact, it’s going to be the opposite and I apologize in advance for that but hopefully, I will be able to express what I feel and my points in a way that is understandable.
I’m going to start this opinion post off talking about Chuck being turned into a villain and what I feel is a very unpopular opinion cause I didn’t like that, I know for a lot of y’all Chuck has always been the villain of this story that’s fine and dandy, I’ve never subscribed to that, and I can understand why some would be excited or find it interesting that God is the last big bad, go big or go home and all that, but I take issue with it cause to me this character has never been a villain and making him one is changing who he is, now I’ve never hidden that I like this character just as I’ve never hidden the fact that my views of this character are slightly influenced by my own personal beliefs nonetheless I am going to try my best to explain why I’d never seen him as a villain without getting into those beliefs.
There are two ways I see this character: as a character and as a representation of Kripke/the showrunner. In neither of these views have I ever seen Chuck as anything other than flawed but loving his creation.
Looking at him as a character only, I completely understand the argument some might make that Chuck has played Sam and Dean like puppets, but I’ve never seen it that way, to me he’s never been this master puppeteer who has controlled every aspect of Sam and Dean. I’ve always viewed him as a flawed but complex character that regardless of whether or not he put things in the boys path or how many those things were, which is not an argument I’m going to get into in this post, he’s rooted for them, he wants them to make the right choices and win - cause he’s always given them free will, even in this episode when they don’t play along and do what he wants he still didn’t take away their free will even though he easily could have, and in Swan Song the whole point of it the beautiful aspect about it is that the boys chose each other, that Sam and Dean’s life was theirs, that they playing or not playing along with heaven and hell’s plan was up to them and they chose not to play along-, and in a way he loves them like to put it in the most basic of terms before this episode where he’s turned into a villain I would have said Sam and Dean were his favorite creation.
So, I’m not just not ok with the implication that this whole time Chuck has been controlling everything, that everything that has happened has been because Chuck wanted it that way, or that Sam and Dean never actually had free will, I’m just not ok with any of those things. I don’t like it.
If I look at him as the representation of Kripke and stop looking at him as a character, I can understand even more why he is the way he is and be more...forgiving I guess; he was an accurate representation cause Kripke did write Sam and Dean to be in those situations but at the same time he loved his creation.
I feel like I made no sense so to put in hopefully more understandable terms:
As a character: I have put you in or let you to some of these situations but I have given you the free will to choose how you handle them and I’m rooting for you to make the right ones and win.
As the representation of a writer talking to their creation: I have put you in these situations but I did it because I love you and I needed you to grow and take a life of your own.
Not sure that’s any more understandable, my thoughts on this character are very difficult to explain but the gist of it is, I’ve never seen Chuck as the bad guy.
[And, as to the argument of why hasn’t he stepped up more to help the boys, if he did there’d be no show. He’s an all knowing all powerful character if he appeared to help every time the boys had a problem there would be no show cause he could solve the problem with a snap of his fingers so I can understand and forgive the writers for not...using him?]
Anyways, to me, his personality in this episode doesn’t make any sense and Dabb changed him to make him into a villain [Note: I do not believe for even one second that he was always intended to be a villain, Chuck was introduced by Kripke back in s4, Kripke had no plans for this show to go past s5 and nobody expected it to reach s14 so saying him being a villain was always the plan makes no goddamm sense to me so save your breath]. I will say however it’s fitting that Dabb would turn Chuck, a representation of the show creator/showrunner, from flawed but loving, into a villain who throws a temper tantrum and undoes all of Sam and Dean’s hard work, I didn’t know Dabb was so self-aware!
I don’t know, maybe if this character had never been introduced, or if he had been written differently or if I didn’t see him as a representation of the show creator/showrunner, maybe then I could get behind the idea of him being a villain but as it is I got issues with it.
From a story POV I’m also not the biggest fan of God being the last big bad, I actually don’t find it that creative. I think it would have been a lot more interesting and creative if they had actually killed him and they either had to deal with the repercussions of that or even more fun if Sam had been the one to kill him and turned into God. Which I actually thought was going to happen for like 3mins after Sam shot Chuck (I watched this epi live and there was a commercial break in between I can be given some leeway for this), well to be honest, I thought he was either going to become God or King of Hell or return of his powers, either way, any one of those three would have been 100% more fun than what we actually got, but I guess I should have known better than to expect Dabb to ever give Sam a storyline, it was probably torture for him to write Sam doing something as badass as shooting God in the first place.
Now, to be fair, we might still get Sam with powers or King of Hell!Sam, the shows not over yet but I’m not going to hold my breath for it. And maybe something cool will be done and I’ll warm up to the idea of Chuck being the villain but as of right now that’s not the case and I don’t see my view changing anytime soon.
That being said, it was great to see Rob Benedict again! He’s looking good!
Moving on from all that, this episode could have been so much more. It should have been so much more, this is the last season finale ffs! But this didn’t even feel like a season finale, the only time it did was at the very end during the last, I’d say, 5mins. the rest felt more fitting for a pre-season finale; take the last couple of minutes away and this would have been more fitting as 14.19. Or even as a standalone episode it would have been better, cause there’s a concept used at the beginning of this episode, that imo would have been good for a standalone, and it’s that Jack made it so people can’t lie, I think that could’ve made for a fun standalone and it’s a pity that instead it was thrown in here cause it didn’t contribute to the plot if anything it actually played a large part in making this feel like less of a season finale.
I’m not gonna lie to you guys the ending with all the monsters and the zombies appearing did make my jaw-drop and for a minute I felt something akin to excitement for s15, but as the scene continued that excitement started dying down and something about it started bugging me. It wasn’t until the episode finished and I started thinking about it and what that ending could possibly mean that I realized why that was and it’s because that little spark of excitement I felt when the woman in white appeared was because of nostalgia.
It’s because I saw her and the creepy af clown and bloody Mary and I didn’t imagine current Sam and Dean fighting them, my mind saw them and immediately went to s1 and s2, that little spark was because I was reminded of the show I love so much, the show that is now coming to an official end and never coming back, and again I won’t lie, for that minute my mind considered the possibility that s15 would be a throwback an homage to the beginning but as the scene continued on I realized that while s15 does have that potential to be something beautiful that pays tribute to the early seasons there’s a way bigger opportunity for it to be a destruction of the legacy j2 have built. And now that the opportunity is there, there’s a big chance that s15 will be a revolving door of secondary characters instead of being about Sam and Dean.
I’m worried that instead of Dabb doing something beautiful that pays tribute to the early seasons it’s just going to be a lazy retelling full of retconning. And it frustrates me that he undid everything Sam and Dean have done, that instead of original new stories we’re bound to get a retelling of the ones that we know and love and are already perfect.
Also, I fucking hate that feathers is gonna be around for the last season especially if the last season is meant to be an homage to s1-s2 cause that useless prick wasn’t introduced till s4...maybe they can start with s4, work their way backward and kill him off.
I won’t deny that there were good moments cause there were! When Dean was about to shoot Jack that was legitimately tense, Sam shooting Chuck was badass, I loved Sam standing up to Dean and telling him that he couldn’t lose him and Jack, I liked the conversation between Sam and Chuck in the Bunker, I loved Dean making weapons for him and Sam at the end, so there were legitimate good moments scattered throughout but for me in the overall scheme of things those moments, as much as I enjoyed/loved them, are not enough for me to consider this a good episode and sure as hell, not enough for me to consider this a good season finale. Especially considering this is the last season finale and even more, if I compare it some past season finales like my beloved AHBL.
If you liked this episode, that’s wonderful I’m happy for you, but...I don’t like the way it left me feeling. It left me feeling hollow, and frustrated, and angry and conflicted and worried about s15.
I wish j2 the best of luck in making s15 a good one, they have an uphill battle ahead of them.
As for me, I’m happy this season is finally fucking over and I’m looking forward to the break before the last season begins.

J2M SPN UK 2018 Panel
At the start of the J2M panel, they made Misha introduce J2 and Jensen is laughing at him lol.
They gave Misha a short chair like at SDCC next to Jared (they changed it back right after lol). Jensen: “Ah, it’s the little things.”
Misha “What’s your normal routine up here... do you guys do acrobatics?”
Jared explains to Misha that they play strip question on stage. If you get the question wrong, you have to take off an article of clothing.
Jared: “I guess my dream job has always been no job... but I would have liked to have been a teacher!” Jensen to Jared: “I learn from you daily, you are a teacher!” Jared put his head on Jensen’s shoulder :)
Jensen: “Sometimes I feel like the right answer would be a Chippendales dancer!”
Misha: “I thought I was gonna be a politician when I grew up!”
Wrong answer: Misha strips off his jacket lol.
Jared: “Jet lag has not been nice to Mr. Misha.”
Jensen earlier about J2M trio op: “We’re doing a crossover. Jensen, Jared & Gollum.” Jared to Misha: “Had I known you looked like this, I wouldn’t have taken a shower.”
Jensen: “There’s another crossover photo later. Supernatural and The Walking Dead.”
J2M just got offered food and now they're totally fighting over those gummy bears.
Jared nudging Misha to grab gummy bears from a fan: “Misha, Scooby dooby doo!”
Mishalecki are fighting over Misha’s jacket
Jensen: “Jared keeps translating English to English, but he breaks it up and it’s actually worse!”
Jared got the question wrong so he strips and now Jared’s jacket is off!
Jensen would consider a Supernatural tattoo after the show ends because it’s a huge part of his life.
Jensen and Jared both say they would consider getting an SPN tattoo after the show ends.
Jensen took a picture of Jared stripping.
Misha: I wish I’d worn my good socks today. Jared: I’m surprised you have socks on! Jensen, cracking up: Things are looking up Mish, you left the house with socks on!
J2M trying to stump the fans to get the audience to strip.
Fan asks if when Dean and Cas do intense stares if it’s written in the script. Jensen says yes, that in the script it’ll be like a serious moment and then it will say “eye f-u-c-k.” They explain that in general all staring scenes between characters are written like that lol. They say that there’ll be a scene where everyone is eye-fucking. They mention another example in a recent episode between Rich and a female character (I’m assuming the Gabriel and Rowena scene from the last ep lol).
If they could go back & further explore a storyline? Jensen: Demon Dean & purgatory. Jared: Soulless Sam and Sully. Misha: Human Cas & a new storyline with “cool Cas.”
Misha’s sock is off.
Misha: “I’m wearing one shoe and no sock... this is starting to feel like a walk of shame right now!”
Jensen on his cell phone contact that’s famous and is not from SPN is Corey Taylor. Jared’s is JJ from Kaleo, and Misha’s is the Queen lol.
Misha is happy about his two degrees of separation to Neil Gaiman on Twitter through Kim.
Fan: If your character could swap character arcs who would you swap with? Jared: You know what, I’m gonna say it. I wouldn’t fuckin’ change it. “Sam’s my boy, I wouldn’t change anything.”
Jensen would have swapped with the storyline with Gabriel when he went to Monaco. Jared whispers in Jensen’s ear. Jensen: or Monte Carlo. Jensen loses his overshirt lol.
Misha: I'm hard on Cas. Jared: Woah!!
Jensen Iced Misha (for those who don’t know, Icing someone means the person has to drink a little bottle of Smirnoff Ice - brand of vodka - while kneeling down on one knee lol).
Misha refuses to drink it on stage so he goes backstage and Jared follows, giving a play by play of Misha drinking the Smirnoff with plenty of innuendos, cracking Jensen up who stayed on stage.
Misha: “I'm not agreeing to a trio panel again!”
Fan asks if after seeing Jack use his powers without being evil, do you think it’s changed Sam’s perception of his own powers? Jared says that Sam took Jack under his wing and so far, he thinks it’s been successful that Jack hasn’t turned evil and feels reassured about his own.
Jared took his shoe off. “There, I lost my shoe.”
Jared: “When you sweat in the snow you get used to sweat proof socks!”
Asked about important changes SPN gave them. Jared: I met the mother of my children on the show and a couple of my best friends! Jensen *points to self* Jared nods and puts his head on Jensen’s shoulder and Jensen touches his head <3
Jensen says he has a lot of relationships now and the show made it so he can live and raise a family where he wants.
Misha: Having families. The only reason why my wife has sex with me is because I’m on the show lmao.
Fan asks about the boys going on a hunt in Amsterdam. Jared says he wants to go to Anne Frank’s house and dig up some Nazi ghosts and kill them! Jensen: I killed Hitler.
Jensen says that in Amsterdam Dean would get lost in the red light district, Cas would be stoned in a cafe somewhere, and Sam would be on an architectural tour.
Misha gets called out on his old answer last year & has to take off his belt.
Fan: I have ten princess dresses. Jared, pointing at Jensen: So does he!
Jared: Come on Misha get it right. I don’t want to see you naked. Again. Jensen: Today.
Who would you meet and pay an autograph for? Jared: I paid for Richard Kiel’s autograph. Jensen: Robert Plant. Misha: Bob Garfield. Jared also mentions that he would have loved to meet Carrie Fisher.
Fan: I’ve been watching you since I was two. I’m 16 now. J2M are devastated lol.
Fan: So in your group, is there a mother hen figure who stops you from getting into trouble? J2M in unison: NOPE. Jensen: “The problem is, we don’t have one!”
Jared: "You know when they say the inmates are running the asylum? That's us."
Jared: “I still find a freedom and a source of creativity in what I do.” Jared says you get to learn from the characters you play and the people you work with.
Jared doesn’t care if he never wins an Oscar. He’s motivated by love in the craft of acting. “I know y’all love me and I love y’all back legitimately and I don’t care if I don’t get an Oscar or if I’m on a billboard or anything.”
Jared: When they call “action” I’m free. I still find a freedom of expression in what I do, that’s why I keep doing it. Jared said he’s not an A-list actor. Jensen: I know you.
Jensen says to learn as much about the technical aspect of filming as you can. He also viewed every audition as a final performance because it helped him deal with rejection.
Fan: Sorry I’m really nervous. Jared: Don’t be nervous, you’re surrounded by family.
Jared is removing Misha’s boot when Misha refuses to answer a question about his favorite trenchcoat lol.
Misha talks about how Jensen gave him some hand-me-down shirts that Jensen wore a lot at cons. Jensen says it happened because he was mortified when a fan called him out on wearing the same shirt twice at a couple of different cons. So he asked Misha if he wanted any of his shirts.
Misha said it apparently got fans talking and Jared yells in a high-pitched voice: They slept together! Jared says he wants to see “who wore it better memes” of Jensen and Misha wearing the same clothes.
J2 talk about how Jensen shared underwear with Jared at a con before. Jensen: Where were we? Seattle. Jared: Yeah. Jensen: Did you just not have enough? Jared: Yeah... another time (to tell the story lol). Jensen to the audience: I’m sure you can figure it out! Jensen: Look, I care, I want to make sure my boys are covered! Jared: They say some people give you the shirt off their back, some people give you the *** off their ***. Jensen: The chocolate gonch. Jared whispers and laughs and Jensen falls over.
Jared likes Sam’s red flannel. Maybe because his marker is red, or it makes up 60% of his name :P
Jared: “I think Sam has a fondness for his red flannels!”
Jensen likes his grey flannel.
Jensen removes his belt lol.
Richard Ices J2. They both take a knee and drink on stage.
Rich to Jared: “You know, you saying you’re gonna screw with us is like saying the sun rose!”
Richard apparently turned the lights off on Jensen in the bathroom earlier. When Rich left and Jensen wasn’t done lol.
The guys are all surrounding the poor last question girl and teasing her with the mics. Boys are cracking up.
Jared hopes s14 isn’t the last. Still feels they should go out in a blaze of glory. Jensen’s had several variations of how the show might end and none of them know how it’s going to end. Misha: Cas is gonna sacrifice himself somehow.
Jensen had a dream about the end of the show and when he shared it with Jared and Misha they both teared up.
Jensen has told that dream many times where he’s lost his brother, he’s done with the hunting life and he doesn’t want Baby anymore because he doesn’t have Sam, so he drives off on a stranger’s motorcycle. Audience: NOOOO. Jensen: You can’t control my dreams!
J2M putting their random clothing items back on. Jared helps with Misha’s shoe lol.
At some point earlier in the panel Misha leaned on Jared’s shoulder right in his face and Jared was just like “Hi!” :)
Jared Iced Rob. Jensen tries to Ice Richard, but Richard jumps out of the way successfully.
Panel ends with the usual J2 fist bumps!

AU Outlines: Other Fandoms Edition
So I know that probably like zero of my followers on this blog even go here but I was watching Person of Interest lately, and I’ve also been reading occasional Supernatural spoilers, because I used to be in that fandom and I occasionally get curious. Especially this most recent season. Naturally, this woke up some old characters/situations/etc. that I used to work with, which I’ve been occasionally toying with in the back of my head when I’m bored and/or procrastinating other projects.
I’ve been going back and forth on how I feel about the one plotline that interests me this season (and by back and forth I mean I was really excited when I first read that a particular character was back; engaged by the summaries/etc. I read from his first couple episodes, the third one intrigued me until I read more detailed spoilers and then I started to side-eye it a little bit...)
And then I read up on last week’s episode. And nope, all my excitement is gone, replaced by Pissed for reasons I’m not sure I can actually articulate. (Though I kind of attempted to in the tags here on my personal blog.)
...honestly, I probably should’ve known better; making this kind of storyline really pay off/work would require a lot of attention given to a tertiary character, and given SPN’s track record with the internal worlds and motivations of characters who are not the Big Three, and the fact that they’ve been ignoring a lot of their established angel/vessel lore, the way Claire’s backstory more or less got completely forgotten...I should not have gotten my hopes up. Sigh.
ANYWAY this is now officially Spite Fic(tm). Here, have an outline of a Supernatural/Person of Interest crossover.
Starring Nick.
...uh, before I actually start, I should probably get some background out of the way.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, Person of Interest is a TV show that ran for five seasons, 2011 - 2016. Without c/ping the opening narration, the basic premise of the show is that, in the wake of 9/11, genius software engineer Harold Finch built a surveillance and analysis program, in an effort to prevent similar future tragedies. Out of fear that his creation would be abused, he designed the Machine as a closed system--basically, all that’s provided is an ID number (usually an SSN, at least for US citizens; but Our Heroes get a green card number in one episode, and a student ID number in another), and the person that number indicates is key to unravelling whatever is going down. The Machine was initially designed to predict mass casualty events/terrorism and provide the (relevant) number to the designated government operatives, at which point human intelligence takes over. However, the Machine also identifies things like…gang warfare/one-on-one premeditated murder (irrelevant numbers). That’s where Our Heroes come in.
The first half of the series is basically a procedural with a twist—each episode, the main characters get an irrelevant number (or more; the record was I believe 38 in one episode). They don’t always know how that person is involved, whether they’re the victim or the killer/perpetrator. In a few memorable cases, the number was arguably both.
Then, in the second half, a rival AI (Samaritan) is brought online, and the series becomes somewhat darker in tone and shifts into a cyberpunk apocalypse story. With a few regular irrelevant numbers thrown in on occasion as well, for good measure. For the purposes of this outline, we don’t care so much about POI B, for reasons I will explain, but it bears mentioning. Especially since Greer is still hanging around and trying to bring Samaritan or something similar online.
Right. On to some memorable/notable/important characters.
Our Heroes are Finch, who, as I said, designed and built the Machine. For various reasons, he’s living off the grid (he’s a very private person). Using a backdoor built into the Machine, as of when the series starts, he receives the irrelevant numbers. But he lacks the skills/ability to intervene directly, so he recruits John Reese.
Reese, then, is Finch’s partner/employee/they are totally married; a former CIA assassin who is now presumed dead, he does most of the hands-on work with the numbers and becomes known as the Man in the Suit who is basically Batman.
Carter! Carter is freaking amazeballs; she is p. much the moral/ethical center of the show, one of their two cop friends who was actually trying to track them/Reese down and arrest him for the vigilante BS for the first half-season or so but then they became friends.
Fusco is their other cop friend; former dirty cop/member of an ring, initially recruited by Reese to work undercover in HR (as said ring is called), basically runs on a combination of Dogged Loyalty (the reason he joined HR in the first place, transfers that loyalty to Team Machine, gets his moral compass recalibrated, and becomes one of the most loveable dudes on the show) and Snark (featuring such delightful quotes as “What was I supposed to say? Sorry, boss, Agent King is really a superpowered nutball. Just ask my buddy, the urban legend.” Also at least once a season, he makes a comment to the effect of “just when I thought you guys couldn’t get any weirder…”).
(Also, he is, as my roommate puts it, Shaped Like A Dad.)
Shaw joins the team in Season 3; textbook (and canonical!) bisexual compact Persian sociopath (note: she has some sort of Axis II personality disorder that is occasionally called sociopathy in-universe, but that doesn’t quite fit); there’s…there’s really not much else one can say without just like summarizing everything she does or quoting ad nauseum.
Root! Root is introduced as a major antagonist; hacker/programmer on Finch’s level who works as a contract killer, her initial goal is to locate and free the Machine, which ends up recruiting her early in Season 3 and becoming…you know that particular kind of reformed villain that becomes the weird family member because yes they’re still kind of awful and murdery, and they did a great deal of damage to you and yours, but you’ve now been through Some Stuff together, and besides, they’re your awful and murdery, you know? So not exactly a redemption arc, but they’re one of the Heroes now and just kind of stick with it. Like Barbossa, in POTC. Or Vegeta. My roommate (referenced above) calls this the Weird Uncle trope. And she fits this trope really well and I love it. Also, she and Shaw are canonically girlfriends as of...s4 or s5, depending on how you look at things.
(Also, not necessarily relevant for this outline, but on the subject of Weird Uncles, one cannot talk about POI without mentioning Elias; our friendly neighborhood Mafia don. No, really.)
And Bear! Cannot forget Bear. Bear is Finch and Reese’s dog, acquired at the beginning of S2 and the most amazing. He also has a twitter! In Dutch!
On to some antagonists, Greer is not our friend. He works for/created a company called Decima Technologies; his goal is to bring an unrestricted AI online and let it run the world for complicated reasons relating to some of his experiences during the Cold War working for MI6. Also he has a very punchable face.
And then there’s Control, who runs the Relevant numbers program for the government. She is an awful, awful human being (fully aware of it, too; she has a great speech in the third season finale about how she’s a Necessary Evil and why) and I love her so much.
Okay, that’s the basics for the POI side of things. I can go on a lot longer if y’all want more details (I didn’t even cover my girl Zoe or Leon or…), but that should be enough foundation for the outline to make sense?
For the SPN side of things--I’m not going to summarize the canon background, due to it being the larger/primary-ish fandom. But in terms of the relevant AU stuff, I’m going more or less with the backstory I established for Nick for The Promises of Angels and Cartography!verse.
Basically, he was a high school history teacher; his wife and son were murdered by a serial killer known as the Chesapeake Ripper
(There might well have been/probably was some demonic involvement, though not in the same way as I think S14 canon established; basically either because a “talent scout” demon like that one s7 episode was already involved or because the Ripper was operating independently and a demon got involved later, he was pointed towards this particular woman and baby who fit his victim pool. Either way, Nick was targeted because he was the right bloodline and accessible, because vessel lines are a thing even if the show has forgotten that.)
(Also, Lucifer later took Nick to kill the Ripper. Signing bonus. So to speak.)
After Detroit, Nick gets picked up by Meg, who holds on to him for a while for a variety of reasons (information that might be buried in his memories from the year he spent possessed; the chance that he might be a new key to the Cage…) until the Leviathan turn up, at which point she no longer has the resources to keep him. She cuts him loose at that point, rather than killing him (mostly because she thinks Lucifer left him alive For A Reason and until she knows what that is, she can’t kill him).
So, at this point, in Promises or Cartography, Nick just sort of wanders around for a while until he runs into Claire or Jody, respectively.
For the purposes of this AU, he ends up drifting to New York instead.
And, with all that background out of the way, NOW we can get to the actual fun stuff.
…no, wait, I lied. One more note: as with p. much all my SPN projects, I am following Logical Time rather than Show Time. Which is to say, when calculating dates/figuring out where the timelines intersect/etc., I’m including the two skipped years (between S5/S6 and between S7/S8).
(That being said, I reserve the right to stop caring about the timeline later and just mashing things together as I think it would be entertaining.)
ANYWAY.
We open in the first half of POI S3, somewhere between “Mors Praematura” and “Endgame” (i.e., Root is in the library, but Carter hasn’t initiated her takedown of HR yet). If my math is right, this puts us either in S7 or during the second gap year for SPN.
It starts as most of these adventures do; Team Machine gets a new number.
“This one may be a bit of a project, I’m afraid,” Finch says. “Nick Cross has been missing for several years. He hasn’t been seen since May of 2009, and there’s been no electronic activity on his identity in that time, either.”
Of course, when they dig into his background, his wife and son getting murdered comes up.
“Any chance he killed them?” Reese asks.
“No, he was cleared at the time. They were victims of a serial killer, and Mr. Cross had solid alibis for three of the five incidents, including the one involving his wife and son.”
(Shaw, at that point, theorizes that Nick’s number came up because he somehow tracked the Chesapeake Ripper down and is planning to kill him. And, if that’s the case, doesn’t really see the point in stopping him.)
(“Start with finding him, Ms. Shaw,” Finch says. “We still don’t know if that is, in fact, what’s going on.”)
(Finch also doesn’t approve on principle, of course, but that is not an argument he wants to have with Shaw on this particular morning.)
(Plus, the Ripper seems to have stopped operating at around the same time Mr. Cross disappeared...so there’s a chance that Shaw’s theory is accurate, just out of date.)
In any case, they reason that the Machine wouldn’t have handed them his number if he weren’t alive and in range; Reese and Shaw ask Carter and Fusco to see what they can pull up, and start doing their own legwork.
Carter ends up being the first to find a lead—while on her regular patrol with Laskey, she spots a guy who matches the description, albeit with a few extra scars, and is acting a little off. Like he thinks he’s being followed/watched.
Reese goes to check it out, and this is where things get, uh, Weird.
See, here’s the thing. I love John Reese, and he is a man of Many Skills.
But, uh.
Being approachable and reassuring is Not Among Them.
Like. Don’t get me wrong. When he’s in Bodyguard Mode, it is exactly the right level of Intimidating. He just…has trouble turning it off.
Look, the dude is a semi-retired CIA spysassin and it oozes out of every pore unless he works really hard to tone it down.
(And sometimes even then.)
And since this is just, like, preliminary surveillance to see if this guy Carter spotted really is their number, and he’s not planning to make contact yet, he’s not really focusing on toning it down.
So, when Nick spots him, guess what this looks like to him.
Yep, he thinks Reese is an angel.
He runs.
Reese: “....yeah, pretty sure that’s our number. And he just made me.”
(If Carter didn’t already, Reese probably also mentions that the five-year-old DMV photo they’re working from is out of date; Nick is pretty badly scarred, they look kind of like radiation burns.)
Of course, it was hard enough to find Nick in the first place, so Reese doesn’t want to lose him again. So, made or not, he continues following. Hoping to get to a position where he can make contact and figure out what’s going on. Or just keep tabs on him until Shaw can catch up and take over.
(Not his favorite approach, but he screwed up somewhere and that’s what he’s stuck with now.)
Nick knows the angel is still on him--and this is new and terrifying; he’s had demons after him a few times since Meg ditched him, but this is the first time an angel’s found him and, frankly, angels are worse than demons in his mind.
(Also he’s supposed to be warded how did the angel even find him--)
(Yeah, Nick has gotten a couple tattoos in his post-Meg life--he’s warded, the same sigils that are etched into Sam and Dean’s ribs; he also has a standard anti-demon-possession tattoo.)
In any case, he has a knife up his sleeve, he just needs to get somewhere more or less out of sight, just for a minute, maybe not even, and then he can throw up a banishing sigil. He just needs that minute.
Reese spots Nick duck out of sight into an alley and heads that way, picking up his pace. There’s a chance he’ll lose the number in there, depending on how many exits there are--
Nick casts his sigil and then books it, not wanting to stick around and see if it worked.
Reese gets there just a hair too late.
“I lost him,” he admits, then catches sight of the bloody drawing on the wall. “...but I think I might have an idea what our number’s running from. And why he disappeared for so long.”
“Yeah?” Shaw asks.
“Looks like he might’ve joined a cult."
“....really,” she said. “Huh.”
“He drew some sort of occult symbol on the wall. Looks like blood.”
“...okay, so he joined a cult.”
“It makes a certain amount of sense,” Finch says. “He went through a horrible tragedy. He could have been vulnerable, especially if he sought but failed to find any comfort in traditional religion.”
Reese takes a picture, and sends it to Finch. “Think you can figure out what this is?”
“Well, it’s hardly my area of expertise,” he says, “but I’ll see what I can do.”
“We’ll work on picking up his trail again,” Shaw says, appearing beside Reese in the alley, as she does sometimes. “Maybe stop by and pick up Bear to help.”
...and now skimming over the next few hours...
Finch spends some time in one of the few corners of the internet he’s not super familiar with, and does identify the symbol eventually.
“It’s for protection or warding. Specifically against angels.”
At which point Shaw busts up laughing at the idea of anyone thinking Reese is an angel.
But that does support the idea that he’s running from whatever cult he got mixed up in.
ANYWAY moving on.
Reese and Shaw eventually catch up with Nick again.
Unfortunately, so have the people who are after him.
(And by people, I mean demons. Two of them.)
(Who recognized Nick, obviously, and had the same ideas as Meg, with regard to his potential Uses.)
(Only they’d rather off him so no one gets to unlock whatever secrets he might be holding.)
Shaw goes up--she’s the better sniper, after all--and Reese makes his way into the alley where Nick is cornered
Firing, naturally, at their kneecaps.
Except.....
Nothing...nothing happens...?
(Well, except now the demon is pissed and gunning for Reese instead.)
(Nick is very relieved to see that this guy is not, in fact, an angel. Angels don’t normally use guns.)
(Of course, now he’s just confused, wtf is going on.)
“What the...” Reese says.
“Maybe you missed,” Shaw smirks, from her perch.
“I didn’t miss.”
“Sure,” she says, aiming at the demon chasing him, getting a solid hit in the shoulder.
Which....also does nothing.
“...well, that was weird.”
She fires again, this time a killshot--yeah, yeah, there are Rules, but under the circumstances...
Meanwhile, Demon #2 has gotten ahold of Nick. Who has frozen a little bit.
(He tends to do this, when stressed/triggered--internalize things, and just go blank. He was more or less catatonic when Meg found him, started gradually coming out of it; when Sam got his soul back that sort of accelerated the process and by now he’s mostly functional, but there are Moments...)
Shaw keeps firing at Demon #1. It’s not killing it, but it’s keeping it pinned down so hopefully Reese can reach and extract their number.
“Finch, we’ve got a Situation here.”
“Yes, I can see that.”
(Finch has hacked into some nearby security cameras.)
“You have any idea what the hell is going on?”
“I’m afraid not, Ms. Shaw,” he says. “It’s only the two of them, I think--no one else is coming though the police will probably be responding to the shots soon--”
“Yeah, Finch, I know. Reese?”
Nick is up against the wall and Reese bodily hauls the demon off of him to engage in a fistfight.
(Did not expect a skinny kid like the demon’s host to pack this much of a punch, he’ll have some fun bruises tomorrow...)
Which snaps Nick out of it.
Demons. These are demons. Only demons. I know how demons work. I can--
He rattles off an exorcism, as fast as he can.
The demons scream and smoke out, leaving their two dead hosts behind--Host #1 may have been dead already, or Shaw may have killed them; Host #2 was already gone.
“Finch?” Shaw says. “Finch, are you getting this?”
“I’m--yes, I see it,” he says.
Reese is about to add something, but the Nick passes out--Demon #2 managed to score a solid hit before Reese got there--and he moves to catch him.
“Damn it--he’s bleeding, pretty bad.”
“Get him to the safehouse,” Finch says. “I’ll meet you there, and we’ll...we’ll figure all this out.”
“Library’s closer,” Shaw points out. “And you said no one else was around.”
Finch hesitates for a moment--more concerned about Root than about their base being compromised, at the moment--then nods. “Fine. Bring him here. I’ll clear off a space for you to patch him up.”
“Copy that,” Shaw says. “Reese, stay with him, I’m gonna get us a car.”
...okay, I’ll admit, the rest of this first New York adventure isn’t super well planned out in my brain. So, skimming through it pretty quick...
They bring Nick back to the library. Shaw patches him up, while Finch goes over the footage he found, trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
Nick eventually wakes up. There’s a Talk.
“They were demons,” Nick explains. “They, uh. They can’t be killed, not with guns. There’s a couple specially-designed weapons, I think. And angel blades. Holy water will burn them, and you can use salt to keep them out. Best thing to do is probably trap them and exorcise them.”
Basically, Team Machine gets The Talk about monsters and so on Existing.
He admits to having been possessed for a year when they ask him why demons are chasing him, though he’s a little vague on further details. He does mention Meg, too, that she held on to him after he was dispossessed.
He asks how they found him--he’d thought his warding was messed up, especially when he thought Reese was an angel.
They give their characteristic vague answer, then ask, “If you’re...warded, how is it they found you in the first place?”
He figures, at this point, that his warding is fine--it doesn’t hide him from demons, necessarily, but even if it did, warding doesn’t stop the bad guys from spotting him by chance. Which is, incidentally, exactly what happened.
Nick also, of course, gets in the usual number questions; “who are you” “why are you helping me” etc., with the added weight of his possession and the fact that they took on literal demons to try and save his life.
Also, somewhere in this mess, Nick wanders off into the part of the library where Root is being held. Possibly while the rest of Team Machine is getting what they’ll need to deal with whatever Climactic Fight will end the episode/section.
(Nick was a high school history teacher, and this is a really awesome library, of course he’s going to go exploring if he’s left alone.)
(Bear is there to keep an eye on him/keep him from leaving.)
(Bear also gets many scritches and pets, as he deserves.)
Anyway, Root and Nick have a conversation; whether she and the Machine are already doing their Morse Code thing or something else is going on...or...something...anyway, Nick gets read in on the Machine’s existence.
(His reaction is more or less “...that does not even make the top ten most unbelievable/dangerous things I know exist, so...all right then.”)
Finch gets back to find them talking about history or something. Bear is next to Nick, who is a lot calmer/more willing to work with them than he was before. Root is just inside the cage wall, idly scritching Bear’s ears as they talk.
(This is actually Important.)
Anyway, eventually there is the requisite climactic fight. Possibly angels are involved--I know Shaw gets her hands on an angel blade at some point...
Point is, things get resolved, more or less. Nick ends up leaving New York.
BUT! Because Root had a Moment with him back there, and Finch saw it, he’s willing to unleash her a little earlier when the shit hits the fan a few episodes later.
In short, thanks to Root kind of sort of Bonding with one of their weirder/more fragile numbers, Team Machine is much better positioned to deal with Endgame nonsense, which means, first, that Carter gets to live (though Reese might still get hella shot, depending on how exactly Root changes what happens with Simmons; but he won’t go on his Roaring Rampage of Revenge); what follows is then that Team Machine is all working on the same page when Claypool’s number comes up aaaaaaand we avert Samaritan. Yay!
(Carter does still deduce the Machine’s existence, of course, gets upgraded to the yellow box and everything. And, remembering the late-S1 drama, strongly advocates for Fusco getting read in, too.)
(She gets her way on that, too. Eventually. Probably before too much longer, even.)
Also, Control does reveal herself, but doesn’t manage to capture Root just yet.
(Which also means Root doesn’t get her implant, at least for a while.)
But apart from that, we can leave this group to their own devices for a while, and get back to following Nick, who is now past his Origin Story, so to speak...
Hokay. So. After Nick leaves New York, he just starts sort of drifting again, and then a few days later, he gets a phone call.
Which he actually answers; in all honestly very few people would reach out to him this way, and he’s pretty sure none of the things that terrify him are on that list.
“Can. You. Hear. Me?”
Nick stares at the phone for a long moment. The Machine repeats herself.
“…no.” He hangs up.
(Look, he knows damn well what that phone call was; Root told him enough when the two of them talked in the library. And he is not interested in letting another near-omnipotent entity screw with his head. Once was enough. He learned his lesson.)
The Machine backs off, deciding to try a less-invasive way of trying to get in touch with/recruit him.
Why is she doing this? Well.
The Machine’s mandate/objective is to protect humanity. When Nick came up on her radar as an irrelevant number she could offer her assets, she noticed some…let’s call them anomalies. In archival data about him, about the two people talking about murdering him…lots of things didn’t add up. Which is why he got pushed to the top of the list, so to speak.
(I mean, assuming she does put a certain level of thought/deliberation into which numbers she sends her assets? If two come up at once that are unrelated, does she need to decide, or do they get both? This isn’t 100% clear in the show, I don’t think; pretty sure all the multi-number episodes do end up being related, even if they don’t appear that way at first, apart from, like, backlogs from when the Machine has to go dark temporarily for whatever reason…anyway, if that is the case, she picked Nick because there was a lot of Weird Shit going on around him and she needed her human assets to sort through it, because she simply didn’t have the tools or parameters necessary to work it out for herself.)
So, Nick’s number comes up, and even more strange things keep happening. The Machine evaluates, and comes to the conclusion that there’s an entire class of threats to humanity that she hasn’t been monitoring correctly. The fact of the matter is, she was programmed with certain blind spots, because Finch had certain blind spots.
But the Machine is now in a position to correct that. She’s aware of the flaw in her system and, thanks to the changes she’s been making since Stanton’s virus and the other S2 arc plot stuff allowed her to start altering her code in a way she couldn’t before…
She can make up for it by adding yet another set of numbers/another protocol. Relevant numbers to the government as always, irrelevant numbers (within their reach, at least) to Finch and his team, “necessary” numbers (i.e., protecting the Machine herself/keeping tabs on other, potentially hostile, ASIs) to Root, and now…we’ll call them “hidden” numbers.
Of course, the next problem is, while there’s a lot of data available about monsters, angels, demons, etc., it’s very hard to sort through what is useful data and what is, frankly, BS. And, unfortunately, she lacks the parameters to do it herself.
Ergo, she needs a human asset to help her figure it out. Teach her/help her define this new dataset.
(And also to intervene when necessary, but that can come later. She’s got a bit of a learning curve ahead of her first, and she knows it.)
But, of course, she doesn’t want to retask any of her current assets—both because they have enough to deal with and because, again, learning curve. Better for at least one entity involved to know what they’re doing, right?
And so, she decides to recruit Nick. Nick, who has already been her window into this hidden world. Nick, who needs her as much as she needs him.
(Kind of like Root, except absolutely unlike Root. Like in that they were both drowning when she approached them, and needed her to give them a framework to cling to, to drag themselves back to the surface; unlike in that Nick is drowning in a very different ocean than Root was.)
Anyway. Eventually, she does manage to talk to him, and explain what she wants.
And he’s still not...100% sure how he feels about working with her, but...well, data entry, right? He can do that. Maybe.
“I don’t know how much help I’ll be,” he admits. “Just because I was possessed for a year doesn’t mean I know everything.”
“It’s still a place to start,” she replies. “Eventually, I’ll figure out the patterns and be able to extrapolate.”
“...okay, then.”
(As it turns out, he knows a lot more than he thinks he does, which is utterly terrifying; he has a lot of subconscious/residual information buried in his mind.)
Of course, eventually, just data entry isn’t enough.
The Machine doesn’t have all the answers/all the patterns down, but she has enough that she’s starting to identify threats/numbers she can assign out.
But Nick...well, Nick is fragile. Mentally, of course, but physically as well--burned inside and out, metaphorically and literally, by a long, incompatible possession.
At the moment, though, he’s the only asset she has in this area. Recruiting others, from among the insular, paranoid hunter community...is going to be difficult.
She spots something she thinks he can handle, especially if she grants him God Mode access and keeps him there.
He stares down at the text message she sent him.
“...I can’t do this,” he says. “I can’t...”
“Can we please try?” she says. “I’ll help you.”
“...I...”
“It’s a demon, I think.”
He thinks about it for a minute. He can handle demons, he thinks. He has before, after all. He understands demons. And...
(he thinks about the feeling of evil still living under his skin; he thinks of blood on his hands and in his heart; about all the nightmares and half-memories; about how he feels too small for his own body, how his thoughts echo inside his head...)
(he wants to do better. he wants to be better. maybe helping...people like him, people who have gone through what he went through...maybe that’s a start. to make up for what he did.)
“...is the host still alive? When I...if I manage to get there and exorcise them...are they still alive?”
“I can’t tell,” she admits. “I’m sorry.”
“I’ll...try,” he says. “I’ll try.”
It ends up, fortunately, being a win for all of them--the demon is thrown enough by seeing Lucifer’s former vessel that Nick has a chance to act; the host is in fact still alive.
Nick spends hours after the exorcism, just...sitting with him, talking. Helping him cope/process things.
“...we should do that again sometime,” he finally tells the Machine, after he goes back to wherever he’s sleeping these days.
So, he starts kind of sort of hunting after that, with the help of an ASI.
Every time he directly engages something, he’s in God Mode. He has to be, because of the aforementioned damage; he wouldn’t survive on his own.
(Probably, at some point, he and the Machine put together something like the Tenebamus Infinitum forum in The Promises of Angels; online support group/community for possession survivors.)
(Sam may or may not find his way there...)
At first, they mostly focus on demons/possession cases. Sometimes ghosts. But they slowly start to branch out into other areas.
They deal with some miscellaneous monsters, faeries, maybe a vampire...good times.
Pretty much the only ones they avoid are angels and pagan gods, because Nick cannot deal.
(Angels for uh obvious reasons; pagan gods because he remembers like two things from his possession with any clarity, and one of them is Muncie, Indiana/Gabriel’s death.)
(The Machine occasionally considers trying to get him into a hospital for a while, the way Root was--she thinks it would help him--but he’s...managing for the moment, so it’s not as necessary, and she does still need him actively working....plus, he’s terrified of being sedated so...this gets put on indefinite hold.)
During this period, though, they do acquire two more Friends.
First--and I’m not 100% sure how they meet; possibly similar to how Nick and Jody meet in Cartography!verse, i.e., a grief support group of some kind.
Anyway, first he meets a young woman, a psychiatrist. Who is familiar, if peripherally, with angel and demon type stuff.
(Other monsters are gonna be a little New to her.)
Her name is Ashley Finnerman.
(Yes, as in Donnie.)
(He was her cousin.)
(After what happened to him, she started trying to figure it out, and eventually did.)
(...honestly, the forum may be her idea. She definitely joins it, not as a fellow survivor, but as a crisis counselor/trained professional who will believe them.)
(Ashley is pretty big on community building in general; yes, she’s a therapist and that’s a start, but she’s only one person. In her ideal world, they’d be able to draw in other professionals--psychiatric because this is an underserved population that desperately needs those resources; medical (as in physical medical/other MDs); legal...anyway, she’s not 100% sure how to go about doing that, but helping out on with Tenebamus is a step in the right direction, in her opinion.)
Ashley is eventually read in on the Machine as well. She has more or less an actual Life outside of it all, so she isn’t as immersed as Nick is, but she’s still definitely part of his team.
And second...somehow, they acquire Adam.
How? ...again, not 100% sure, but probably one of two ways--
One, something similar to Promises, where Nick gets too close to the Cage mouth for some reason and is offered a Bribe. He takes the bribe, with exactly zero intention of following through on his end of the bargain, so to speak.
Two, some kind of straight-up Fairy Tale Bullshit. S6 establishes that faeries can reach the Cage; Nick somewhat accidentally does a favor for a powerful faerie through his work with the Machine, and to repay the debt, the faerie (or possibly a High Up Faerie who has taken ownership of the debt because he helped someone in their court/their child/something or other) restores his Counterpart to him? IDK, something like that.
...I think I like this option. He accidentally does a favor for, IDK, Mab. And she, not wanting to be in his debt, heads down to the Cage.
This works because, a) Mab is probably one of the few entities that can go toe-to-toe with an Archangel like this; and b) Michael is actually on board with springing Adam.
(Not necessarily because he gives a shit about Adam, but he does give a shit about Justice, and keeping Adam down here, especially with Sam gone, is not Justice.)
Naturally, she doesn’t tell Nick ahead of time--he did the favor without consulting her, she shall repay him in kind. Faeries and Obligations, man.
Anyway, Adam joins them, and then Nick doesn’t have to be quite as hands-on because Adam is perfectly capable.
(Adam also, at some point, makes a comment about the three of them having ‘nearly a complete set.’)
(I have no idea how/if they’ll ever be able to find someone to fit in for Gabriel, but three out of four!)
(Nick finds this oddly hilarious, for reasons he can’t quite articulate.)
So, that is what Nick is doing while Team Machine is foiling Vigilance and Greer and Decima and dealing with their Hard Sci Fi end of things.
Let’s bring these two worlds crashing back together, shall we?
(Well, I say crashing together...this probably isn’t the first time Nick has run into the others since that first adventure.)
(If nothing else, he’s stayed in touch, off and on, with Root.)
(And I’m pretty sure the others have met Adam.)
(Maybe that was where Shaw got her angel blade...)
So, timeline for this. Uh...probably at least a year after Nick’s first encounter with Team Machine. For the SPN side of things...ehhhhh I’ll handwave/stop caring and say this is sometime in the latter half of S8. Between the first two Trials. Let’s go with that.
Nick and co are back in New York, probably dealing with something on their end of things. A ghost or something.
And then they get sucked into some Team Machine nonsense.
Control still wants the Machine--or a suitable Plan B--back under her complete, well, control.
Decima is going after some other potential ASI.
(Root is back in town to deal with them.)
Vigilance is involved too, because why not.
(Greer can’t initiate his endgame there just yet, after all, so they’re probably still operating.)
Nick, Adam, and Ashley are pitching in, because they’re here and the Machine needs all the help she can get on this one. Because Reasons.
Meg gets involved--this goes AU in that she escaped Crowley somehow. And one of the first things she does is try to check on her various assets, so she’s trying to track Nick and figure out what the hell is going on with him.
Crowley, of course, is chasing her, trying to get her back.
And, to round it all off, Sam and Dean are chasing him.
(As they approach, Sam starts noticing a weird buzzing feeling in the back of his head. Like circulation returning, or something like that. He decides not to mention it--thinks it might be a new Trials symptom, and he’s already hiding those from Dean, what’s one more secret? Besides, they need to know what Crowley finds so interesting about this place...that’s way more important, right?)
So, all these disparate parties converge on wherever the potential ASI is being held/built.
Root and Nick, of course, are both in God Mode.
(...incidentally, Nick is...nnnnnnnnnot super comfortable with calling it that? He and Adam and Ashley mostly just call it access or full-access.)
(Nick has the same tingling feeling in the back of his head, but he can’t do anything about it right now. He just focuses on the task at hand, and getting himself and his friends through this alive.)
The Machine tips Nick off to the fact that there are demons sniffing around--a couple of Crowley’s minions. Which, of course, Nick and his team can handle, but there’s several of them around and we reeeeally don’t want Crowley getting access to an ASI.
(Especially not S8!Crowley.)
So, Nick, Adam, and Ashley head off to put up wards and shoo off any demons they can, leaving the others to deal with the Decima nonsense/destroy the drives or whatever.
There’s a lot of ground to cover, so they split up.
Eventually, Nick gets pinned down by Decima mooks, trapped in a corner of the facility where he’s trying to finish getting the wards up.
“What...what do I do now?” he asks the Machine.
She runs her simulations, and it doesn’t look good.
And here is where it’s different from, say, “If-Then-Else.” Slash another way Root and Nick are very different people/assets.
Whereas Root is perfectly okay with obeying orders from her God without question, Nick needs to be told his options and make the choice himself.
At some point, he describes Access as oddly comforting. It’s almost as overwhelming, almost as much of a surrender, as consenting to possession is.
But there’s one critical difference.
He doesn’t have to listen to her.
He can say no.
He can hang up.
I mean, it’s generally speaking a bad idea to do that, but the option is still available.
So, his head doesn’t feel as empty with her in it, but a lot of it is still on his terms.
That being said, when there’s no time, or it’s a very immediate “there’s someone behind you” type of God Mode moment, of course, that’s less of an issue.
But something like this, where there’s a fork in the road?
If there’s time, she’ll lay out two or three of the least bad options and let him decide.
“If you go out the door and turn left, you will run into Control. She will figure out you’re tied to me, and she will take you prisoner. She will almost certainly torture you, to get you to give me up. Adam and Ashley will meet up with my other assets, and they will rescue you, but the chances of their success are very slim. There is a five percent chance, at best, that you will survive. It varies, depending on how quickly the others can mobilize.”
“Okay,” he says, and swallows. “And...and Adam and Ashley, will they...?”
“They have better than even odds of surviving.”
“Okay,” he says again. “What else?”
“Turn right,” she says. “You’ll run into the demon who held you captive.”
“Meg?”
“Yes.”
That’s not so bad, he thinks. Meg didn’t torture him too much, and she wanted him kept alive.
“Control will capture Root instead,” she continues. “Sameen and the others will attempt to rescue her. Adam and Ashley will pursue you.”
Control capturing Root, on the other hand, seems like a very bad thing. Still...
“Adam and Ashley?”
“About the same,” she says. “But there is another concern.”
“Okay.”
“If Meg takes you, there’s a chance she’ll find me. And if she does, it’s extremely likely that someone less friendly will, as well. There is also an approximately 17% chance that you’ll wind up in Crowley’s hands instead of Meg’s. And his chances of finding me are a lot stronger.”
Yeah, no. That cannot happen.
“Are there any other options?” he asks.
She pauses for a split second. “Turn right,” she says. “Then at the first hallway, turn left instead of going straight. I’ll have to leave you then--there are several Decima soldiers, but if you manage to get past them on your own, you’ll find Sam and Dean Winchester.”
It hits him like a punch to the gut.
“Your chances of reaching them without my help are better than your chances of surviving Control,” the Machine continues, “but not by much. If you can get there, though, they most likely won’t harm you.”
Unless I’m in full-access mode, Nick thinks, and shivers a little.
“And I can say with approximately 97% certainty that, when Adam and Ashley find you, they won’t harm them, either. I cannot say the same for the demons or Control.”
“They won’t hurt us physically,” Nick finally manages to say. “But I can’t...I-I-I don’t know how I’ll...I can’t shut down, not in here. A-and I don’t know how Sam will react to seeing me, I’ll probably seriously fuck with his head a-and I can’t...I can’t...”
(there’s this running refrain in his head, that Sam Winchester is perfect, and that Nick is the reason that everything goes wrong.)
(the Machine regrets even more not getting Nick more help.)
He takes a shaky breath. “Plus, I don’t know if Adam’s ready for that yet,” he says. “He hasn’t...uh, he hasn’t said anything about wanting to track them down.”
“That’s true.”
He’s quiet for another minute.
“Nick?”
“...I’ll take my chances with Control,” he says.
“I understand,” she says. “Thank you. And I’m sorry.”
(It’s not what she would have advised him to do, necessarily--she would have advised him to try for Sam and Dean; it balances protecting her with protecting the majority of her assets.)
“Directions?” he says.
“Open the door and turn left.”
She guides him down the hallway, advises him where to dodge, where to strike. He picks up a gun at one point--
(he’s hesitant, and she reminds him “you’re in Control’s world now, you have to play by her rules.”)
He gets to the inevitable trap, where ISA corners him and Control is there.
She recognizes, pretty quickly, that he’s in God Mode.
“...now just who the hell are you?”
On the other side of the facility, Ashley’s phone rings.
“Can. You. Hear. Me?”
The Machine also advises Root that Nick has been captured.
She and Finch have finished neutralizing the potential ASI drives; Reese and Shaw are with them; Carter and Fusco are currently working on securing their exit route, after driving off a handful of Vigilance mooks.
“We need to move,” Root says. “Control has Nick. Adam and Ashley will meet us.”
Reese nods once. “Lionel, Joss, get ready. We’re headed your way.”
“Copy that,” Carter says. “Fusco--”
“On it.”
Meg has realized that Crowley is here, so she’s now in the process of finding her own exit. He’s in pursuit.
Sam and Dean got all turned around and manage to get to just the right hallway at just the right time to see Adam and Ashley piling onto an elevator.
“...Dean,” Sam says. “Dean, tell me you’re seeing what I’m seeing.”
(he doesn’t press his hand. he hasn’t hallucinated in almost two years, he doesn’t need to--)
“Adam?” Dean calls.
Adam half turns to them, hesitates for half a second, then follows Ashley into the elevator and the door slides shut.
...and I’ll admit I don’t have a whole lot planned out beyond that. Also this is getting, like, super long. So, quick wrapup, so to speak.
So, Team Machine, plus Adam and Ashley go to rescue Nick.
Sam and Dean track them down.
Adam goes to talk to them, try and get them to back off.
“I have to go rescue my friend,” he says. “But once I’m done with that, we can talk. I promise. We’ll set up a meeting and I’ll tell you...as much as I remember, I guess. But right now, I have to go rescue my friend. Kind of on a clock here.”
“We’ll help,” Sam offers.
“This isn’t really your kind of thing,” Adam says. “This isn’t monsters, this is the ISA.”
“The what now?” Dean asks.
“Like the CIA, but on steroids.”
“...how the hell did you get involved in CIA bullshit?” Dean asks.
“It’s kind of a long story,” Adam says. “Which I will tell you, once my friend is safe. So can you please just...let me do this first?”
“How did...” Sam asks. “How did you get out?”
“Also a long story,” Adam says. “But I’m the only one who came out, I swear. And...” He hesitates. “They...mostly left me alone, after you were gone. If you were worried about that.”
(Sam hadn’t been, mostly because he had been Very Firmly Not Thinking About Adam for a while now, but he’s relieved to hear it.)
Reese steps out. Possibly holding his grenade launcher. “Come on, Adam, we gotta go.”
“Coming,” Adam says, then turns back to Sam and Dean. “I will call you as soon as we’re clear. I promise. Don’t follow us, okay?”
Without waiting for an answer, he follows Reese and they go to rescue Nick.
(Obviously, S&D don’t listen and do, in fact, follow Adam, but I’m not 100% sure where that would go.)
(Other than they do, in fact, manage to extract Nick alive, but it’s a near thing.)
(The fun thing here is, Control actually can’t break Nick. Well, she can’t get him to tell her anything about the Machine, anyway.)
(Yes, everyone has their breaking point so far as pain/torture goes, and Nick is no exception.)
(But he will physically break--i.e., die--before he mentally breaks.)
(And while psychological torture would be a lot more effective, she doesn’t know what buttons to push.)
(When she runs his prints/whatever, she gets the name Jacob White, which is an identity that Finch put together for him, for when he needed to interact with the real world. Since his own identity is...complicated.)
(Yes, that is a reference.)
(I couldn’t resist.)
(Also, the Machine, through Root, gets to deliver her verbal bitchslap to Control at last.)
Uh....yeah. That’s all the actual Plot I have at this point. But some other notes!
My girl Zoe is totally in the know. She may or may not have encountered Bela at some point, or found out some other way, but she does know.
(She never told Harold and John because--well, honestly, why would she? Her stock in trade is secrets, after all. And it never came up, and she wasn’t involved with Nick’s first adventure.)
Elias will turn up at some point. And basically become something like John Marcone, if any of y’all are familiar with the Dresden Files.
Bear’s Plot Armor may be some kind of magic, and I would not be surprised if he could take on a Hellhound and win.
Carter and Jody. Just...just Carter and Jody, man.
Like I said, Shaw gets her hands on an angel blade at some point. She and Dean probably bond. I feel like they would bond.
Also, I think Dean gets put into God Mode at some point. Possibly as his first real introduction to the Machine.
Like...IDK, he and Sam are with Nick for some reason, Nick, as implied above, cannot go into God Mode in front of the two of them, and honestly Sam going into God Mode in front of him would also be pretty devastating, so...Dean’s phone gets to ring!
“Can. You. Hear. Me?”

J2M SPN UK 2018 Panel
At the start of the J2M panel, they made Misha introduce J2 and Jensen is laughing at him lol.
They gave Misha a short chair like at SDCC next to Jared (they changed it back right after lol). Jensen: “Ah, it’s the little things.”
Misha “What’s your normal routine up here… do you guys do acrobatics?”
Jared explains to Misha that they play strip question on stage. If you get the question wrong, you have to take off an article of clothing.
Jared: “I guess my dream job has always been no job… but I would have liked to have been a teacher!” Jensen to Jared: “I learn from you daily, you are a teacher!” Jared put his head on Jensen’s shoulder :)
Jensen: “Sometimes I feel like the right answer would be a Chippendales dancer!”
Misha: “I thought I was gonna be a politician when I grew up!”
Wrong answer: Misha strips off his jacket lol.
Jared: “Jet lag has not been nice to Mr. Misha.”
Jensen earlier about J2M trio op: “We’re doing a crossover. Jensen, Jared & Gollum.” Jared to Misha: “Had I known you looked like this, I wouldn’t have taken a shower.”
Jensen: “There’s another crossover photo later. Supernatural and The Walking Dead.”
J2M just got offered food and now they’re totally fighting over those gummy bears.
Jared nudging Misha to grab gummy bears from a fan: “Misha, Scooby dooby doo!”
Mishalecki are fighting over Misha’s jacket
Jensen: “Jared keeps translating English to English, but he breaks it up and it’s actually worse!”
Jared got the question wrong so he strips and now Jared’s jacket is off!
Jensen would consider a Supernatural tattoo after the show ends because it’s a huge part of his life.
Jensen and Jared both say they would consider getting an SPN tattoo after the show ends.
Jensen took a picture of Jared stripping.
Misha: I wish I’d worn my good socks today. Jared: I’m surprised you have socks on! Jensen, cracking up: Things are looking up Mish, you left the house with socks on!
J2M trying to stump the fans to get the audience to strip.
Fan asks if when Dean and Cas do intense stares if it’s written in the script. Jensen says yes, that in the script it’ll be like a serious moment and then it will say “eye f-u-c-k.” They explain that in general all staring scenes between characters are written like that lol. They say that there’ll be a scene where everyone is eye-fucking. They mention another example in a recent episode between Rich and a female character (I’m assuming the Gabriel and Rowena scene from the last ep lol).
If they could go back & further explore a storyline? Jensen: Demon Dean & purgatory. Jared: Soulless Sam and Sully. Misha: Human Cas & a new storyline with “cool Cas.”
Misha’s sock is off.
Misha: “I’m wearing one shoe and no sock… this is starting to feel like a walk of shame right now!”
Jensen on his cell phone contact that’s famous and is not from SPN is Corey Taylor. Jared’s is JJ from Kaleo, and Misha’s is the Queen lol.
Misha is happy about his two degrees of separation to Neil Gaiman on Twitter through Kim.
Fan: If your character could swap character arcs who would you swap with? Jared: You know what, I’m gonna say it. I wouldn’t fuckin’ change it. “Sam’s my boy, I wouldn’t change anything.”
Jensen would have swapped with the storyline with Gabriel when he went to Monaco. Jared whispers in Jensen’s ear. Jensen: or Monte Carlo. Jensen loses his overshirt lol.
Misha: I’m hard on Cas. Jared: Woah!!
Jensen Iced Misha (for those who don’t know, Icing someone means the person has to drink a little bottle of Smirnoff Ice - a brand of vodka - while kneeling down on one knee lol).
Misha refuses to drink it on stage so he goes backstage and Jared follows, giving a play by play of Misha drinking the Smirnoff with plenty of innuendos, cracking Jensen up who stayed on stage.
Misha: “I’m not agreeing to a trio panel again!”
Fan asks if after seeing Jack use his powers without being evil, do you think it’s changed Sam’s perception of his own powers? Jared says that Sam took Jack under his wing and so far, he thinks it’s been successful that Jack hasn’t turned evil and feels reassured about his own.
Jared took his shoe off. “There, I lost my shoe.”
Jared: “When you sweat in the snow you get used to sweat proof socks!”
Asked about important changes SPN gave them. Jared: I met the mother of my children on the show and a couple of my best friends! Jensen *points to self* Jared nods and puts his head on Jensen’s shoulder and Jensen touches his head <3
Jensen says he has a lot of relationships now and the show made it so he can live and raise a family where he wants.
Misha: Having families. The only reason why my wife has sex with me is that I’m on the show lmao.
Fan asks about the boys going on a hunt in Amsterdam. Jared says he wants to go to Anne Frank’s house and dig up some Nazi ghosts and kill them! Jensen: I killed Hitler.
Jensen says that in Amsterdam Dean would get lost in the red light district, Cas would be stoned in a cafe somewhere, and Sam would be on an architectural tour.
Misha gets called out on his old answer last year & has to take off his belt.
Fan: I have ten princess dresses. Jared, pointing at Jensen: So does he!
Jared: Come on Misha get it right. I don’t want to see you naked. Again. Jensen: Today.
Who would you meet and pay an autograph for? Jared: I paid for Richard Kiel’s autograph. Jensen: Robert Plant. Misha: Bob Garfield. Jared also mentions that he would have loved to meet Carrie Fisher.
Fan: I’ve been watching you since I was two. I’m 16 now. J2M are devastated lol.
Fan: So in your group, is there a mother hen figure who stops you from getting into trouble? J2M in unison: NOPE. Jensen: “The problem is, we don’t have one!”
Jared: “You know when they say the inmates are running the asylum? That’s us."
Jared: “I still find a freedom and a source of creativity in what I do.” Jared says you get to learn from the characters you play and the people you work with.
Jared doesn’t care if he never wins an Oscar. He’s motivated by love in the craft of acting. “I know y’all love me and I love y’all back legitimately and I don’t care if I don’t get an Oscar or if I’m on a billboard or anything.”
Jared: When they call “action” I’m free. I still find a freedom of expression in what I do, that’s why I keep doing it. Jared said he’s not an A-list actor. Jensen: I know you.
Jensen says to learn as much about the technical aspect of filming as you can. He also viewed every audition as a final performance because it helped him deal with rejection.
Fan: Sorry I’m really nervous. Jared: Don’t be nervous, you’re surrounded by family.
Jared is removing Misha’s boot when Misha refuses to answer a question about his favorite trenchcoat lol.
Misha talks about how Jensen gave him some hand-me-down shirts that Jensen wore a lot at cons. Jensen says it happened because he was mortified when a fan called him out on wearing the same shirt twice at a couple of different cons. So he asked Misha if he wanted any of his shirts.
Misha said it apparently got fans talking and Jared yells in a high-pitched voice: They slept together! Jared says he wants to see “who wore it better memes” of Jensen and Misha wearing the same clothes.
J2 talk about how Jensen shared underwear with Jared at a con before. Jensen: Where were we? Seattle. Jared: Yeah. Jensen: Did you just not have enough? Jared: Yeah… another time (to tell the story lol). Jensen to the audience: I’m sure you can figure it out! Jensen: Look, I care, I want to make sure my boys are covered! Jared: They say some people give you the shirt off their back, some people give you the *** off their ***. Jensen: The chocolate gonch. Jared whispers and laughs and Jensen falls over.
Jared likes Sam’s red flannel. Maybe because his marker is red, or it makes up 60% of his name :P
Jared: “I think Sam has a fondness for his red flannels!”
Jensen likes his grey flannel.
Jensen removes his belt lol.
Richard Ices J2. They both take a knee and drink on stage.
Rich to Jared: “You know, you saying you’re gonna screw with us is like saying the sun rose!”
Richard apparently turned the lights off on Jensen in the bathroom earlier. When Rich left and Jensen wasn’t done lol.
The guys are all surrounding the poor last question girl and teasing her with the mics. Boys are cracking up.
Jared hopes s14 isn’t the last. Still feels they should go out in a blaze of glory. Jensen’s had several variations of how the show might end and none of them know how it’s going to end. Misha: Cas is gonna sacrifice himself somehow.
Jensen had a dream about the end of the show and when he shared it with Jared and Misha they both teared up.
Jensen has told that dream many times where he’s lost his brother, he’s done with the hunting life and he doesn’t want Baby anymore because he doesn’t have Sam, so he drives off on a stranger’s motorcycle. Audience: NOOOO. Jensen: You can’t control my dreams!
J2M putting their random clothing items back on. Jared helps with Misha’s shoe lol.
At some point earlier in the panel Misha leaned on Jared’s shoulder right in his face and Jared was just like “Hi!” :)
Jared Iced Rob. Jensen tries to Ice Richard, but Richard jumps out of the way successfully.
Panel ends with the usual J2 fist bumps!

New thoughts on S14
This is a Michael!Dean critical post, and I don’t wanna piss in the punch bowl, so I’ll put it under the cut.
Earlier this year, January, I believe, PR for SPN teased Jensen playing a new character other than Dean. A lot of interesting ideas were thrown around, including the very on-the-nose possibility of Dean saying yes to AU!Michael.
I personally didn’t like this idea for the following:
-It was very telegraphed, and the show-runner under-estimated both the meta writers of the SPN fandom, and how many fans engaged with them. They showed their hand too much on something that was more effective as a twist.
-Meta writers came up with far more interesting scenarios as to what character Jensen would be playing, that would/could lead us to the same story arc in S14. As in, get the same effect of Dean having to face himself, and/or a mirror of John, without it being AU!Michael.
These were my two biggest issues; predictability, and Michael, in both worlds, being a boring character. However, I’ve been able to think of another reason why this bothers me so much, and it’s something that’s simply alluded me for all these months.
Andrew Dabb loves his parallels, his call-backs, his book-ends. These writing decisions usually turn out great. With Dean saying yes to AU!Michael, we now have every member of the original TFW saying yes to an Archangel.
And there’s the problem. We’ve already seen what happens when a member, (Cas, Dean) says yes to an Archangel (Lucifer, AU!Michael) who claims to be the answer to their problem, (Amara, Lucifer). Both make the decision under hasty circumstances, usually to save someone else, and get taken advantage of because of desperation. and lack of self-worth.
Dean has already seen this play out, and still said yes.
This is ultimately a writing issue. I know Michael!Dean is an idea they’ve had on the back-burner for a decade, now, and it makes a ton of (predictable) sense for the character. I think the problem ends up being that they pulled the trigger too early by doing Casifer, meaning both Dean and us, the audience, have already seen, and examined, these events. Had Casifer never happened, I don’t think I’d be as critical. But, who knows, they probably would’ve spoiled Michael!Dean, anyway.
I want to end this by saying I’ve seen a lot of optimism regarding the potential for Dean in S14. I’m still skeptical, but hopefully now that I’ve been able to pin down where my concern comes from, I’ll be able to better enjoy the show.
Most importantly, I don’t want to make anyone feel bad for liking or being excited for Michael!Dean. If you were game for it from the start, by all means, have at it. This is me, more or less, trying to figure things out for myself, and maybe help other fans who feel this way, too, but hadn’t been able to put their finger on why that is.
Here’s to S14, y’all. Let it exceed our expectations.

The T about ‘’Funeralia’’
By all means, that is the most powerful episode that Rowena has ever appeared in. Where do I begin?
About the first scene.
Rowena living her best life with that gorgeous dress and her drink and all.. Absolutely astonishing. The tango? EVERYTHING!! The moment of the fire spell? Okay but let’s face the truth y’all, no matter how nice Ro gets, baddie!Ro will always be a guilty pleasure.
Now, about Crowley/Fergus.
The fact that she can now admit that she cares and that she wants to give him the feeling of home that he never got to experience out loud is of primary importance, not to mention that it stands as a great reason about why she should get redemption. No matter how powerful she’s become, she still has a human side- and most importantly, a mother side- and I hope that this turns out to be her happy ending, because they both deserve it.
About her interaction with the boys.
The glo up is unreal. We already know that Sam and she are really close because of their common traumas and stuff, and let’s not forget that they’ve been working on this discreet bond since S10. The fact that she didn’t want to kill him and neither did he, is proof of how far they’ve come. If not for a relationship, they could end up being amazing friends. HOWEVER, now that we know Sam’s destiny to be the one that kills Rowena, her life is literally hanging by a thread, because she will be in the season finale, so that means that she will either be given redemption, they win and she gets to live and continue in S14, OR that she will somehow sacrifice herself just like Crowley by letting Sam kill her, which means bye bye Rowena. And that’s something that can literally make me lose my sleep for weeks.
Now, about Dean. It is clear that he’s still a bit suspicious and doubtful over Rowena, but I think that in the end he will agree to give her redemption and they will be good friends, just like what happened with Crowley.
About Rowena’s character in general.
We can all see her character development ever since she first appeared in S10. She’s been wiser, more caring and a much better version of herself, but without losing her vitriolic sense of humor,sass and spiciness. She learned to love others, and many other life lessons as well. She may have almost gone a bit far because of her powers, but she managed to ‘’snap out of it’’ and realize things, so I definitely think that she will be doing what’s prudent.
Summing Up:
That episode was definitely one of Rowena’s highlights. Like I’ve said before, this season has been amazing for her, as we got to see more of her inner self. We’ve had less episodes with her but with better content - in comparison to the previous ones, where we had more episodes with less content. And I really don’t mind that, because she’s definitely made me so proud of her mindset progress. I didn’t ever think that I would say that, but.. If they are really to kill her off in the finale, I would accept it. But not like the previous deaths (don’t even get me started). If we saw Sam fulfilling their destiny and giving her like a nice and bearable death, so that her soul would get redemption and she would end up in heaven or in a place that she could actually find peace,even better with Crowley present, and with a beautiful greeting, that would be a good way to end her character. Because let’s be honest, we’re going to see waayyy more deaths until the show comes to an end, the last thing I personally want is a quick wipe-off of a character as important as hers. I would definitely fucking miss her, but I feel like it shall be done this way so that her journey ends here but in a good way, and that’s what she deserves. But that’s too much for now, because if she gets to live

Some Last Minute Crazy Season Finale Thoughts
Even though I am hardly feeling ready for anything else but bathing in con memories, I felt like - since it is is kind of tradition - making one last spec post on the season finale before it airs, so here it goes.
Based on everything that was said at JIB regarding the finale, the character Jensen will play and Jared talking about a “win” for Sam, there is one overreaching aspect that I assume will be the core of the episode or rather the cliffhanger. Basically I think whatever the win for Sam is, it will be tied to a loss for Dean in some way, shape or form, because to me this is really the only way anything remotely captivating can be created, because this serves as the emotional focal point to carry the audience over to the next season and to also raise the stakes for the main characters.
As for the rest of the ideas, I’ll do those bulletin style.
+ Throughout the whole season John Winchester has been topic of discussion again and again and somehow I always had the nagging thought that in some way, shape or form we might get a scene or a new flashback scene featuring JDM. I am not sure they could truly get him again, so I am working with the idea now that instead they may opt for Matt Cohen, who after all had replied to a post a while ago with “can’t wait to be back” - of course that could have been a broader sentiment, but that’s just not how it seemed to me.
+ based on that I could truly imagine them to bring Michael from the cage into the mix (I mean, who says he isn’t out a long time already since Hell seems to be run by... no one...) and even if Michael was using Adam as a vessel last, it would be wisest by him to approach Dean in John’s form, which I assume wouldn’t be an issue for him at all. Back in S5 Michael seemed very well aware and capable of manipulation, so... he may be a bit crazier now, but that of course wouldn’t make him any less dangerous, quite the opposite.
+ with AU!Michael and Lucifer causing havoc I could then imagine for Cage!Michael to give Dean a similar speech as he gave John in S5 when John said yes to save Mary (and really this may have already happened, that Dean already said yes and it will be revelaed in flashback form), only that he now would tie Dean’s dream of retirement and knowing the world save if he said yes to it. The show has shown how tired Dean is a multitude of times over the past couple of episodes, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Dean’s mindset is tired enough to give himself up in order to save the people he loves.
+ basically this means I could see Cage!Michael battle it out with AU!Michael and Lucifer
+ in some way this will also bring Jack into the mix, who it seems (judging from the promo where Sam comforts him while Dean and Lucifer jump at each others) may either lose his powers or at the very least may not be powerful enough against his father (there is a promo pic where it looks like Lucifer is using him as a tool of blackmail) and/or Michael.
+ in a way I could imagine him to either try and help the Winchesters against both of them or that some sort of reaction to what happens within him that is beyond his control (like a connection to Lucifer) will cause issues/be tied to a “loss” for Dean. I could also imagine that even if Jack sided with the Winchesters and was the one to kill Michael for example or his father or whatever else that this action in itsefl that would be seen as “good” would make him follow in his father’s footsteps unwantedly and that spurring a change for the worse that neither him nor anyone else wants, but it would go in line with all of TFW and what they did with good intentions in mind and what it did to them.
+ that said, given Jared’s words I kind of think that Sam’s win may be that he either kills Lucifer or that at the very least he’d find a way to lock Lucifer back up again. That win however I think willl be paid for with a loss for Dean that Sam may never be aware of.
+ it does at the very least look like AU!Michael dies with black goo runnign from his eyes which makes me think we may get to see the Lance of Michael again and possibly used by Dean, Cage!Michael!Dean or just Cage!Michael against himself. And maybe after that Cage!Michael and Sam with the archangel blade go after Lucifer, which could spur a reaction from Jack that is beyond his control.
+ And then of course Billie must pop up again too given he ominous speech. So maybe Dean is close to death and then Cage!Michael possess Dean and “brings him back”. The possibilities are endless really, I also still could imagine Death!Dean or something/someone else altogether. Really the only thing I am certain of is that the cliffhanger may look very similar to the one from S9 in the way that Jensen won’t really “play” the character yet, but that we’ll only get a glimpse of him walking down the street...
+ aside from all that I am still waiting/hoping for the bullet wound to play a part and to be tied to a reason for Dean “becoming” someone else.
+ also one would hope Castiel’s Empty stint would be a topic as well again, but I am not banking on it.
That’s about the gist of it. Tbh I don’t really care about anything relating to Mary or the AU travelers, something with them will of course have to be part as well, as will probably be the situation in Heaven, but yeah... There really is just one major wish I have (and sadly I am pretty sure it will not be fulfilled), well two actually: finally some good writing again for S14 but more than that for the show to please finally let go of Lucifer. He has to go (Mary as well tbh, they have destroyed that character beyond redemption, which is sad becaue the Mary arc could have been great, but oh well... it’s too late now).
Likely none of this will play out lol given Dabb likes very different things than I am intrigued by and usually goes with the most generic ideas, so... I am going into this season finale with pretty much no or rather very very very low expectations. Anyway, bring it on, SPN! At least please give me some emotions again in the finale minutes and the cliffhanger (remember S8 and S9 and how well done it was back then!!!).
On that note: Have fun watching y’all, I’ll watch it tomorrow as soon as iTunes has it up for download. :)

Andrew Dabb is by far the weakest showrunner SPN has had. I dont understand why you stan him? I mean, you're entitled to your opinion of course but to me he obviously doesnt care about canon or the Winchesters, only the side characters and pandering to the 1% (Hellers)
First, let me say I don't “stan” him, I just don't think he’s any worse than any other showrunner SPN has had, and in some ways, he's even better. Apologies up front that this may run long, but I have a lot to say about the subject.
I didn’t join the Tumblr fandom until s11 was over and the show had changed hands from Carver to Dabb. All summer long I heard from Hellers how Dabb hates the Winchesters toxic co-dependency and is going to do away with it. And he is “for sure” going to make Destiel canon because he likes it and so does his assistant, she even had books published on the subject! So everyone not interested in that ship, dispised Dabb before the season even started filming, However, the Hellers were proven wrong, Dabb has done the least destiel pandering than ANY other showrunner, and has improved on Sam and Dean’s relationship while still managing to keep them dangerously co-dependent, but for some reason, the Hellers still preach the opposite and the bibros still believe them. I don’t think the fandom gave Dabb a fair chance.
Now, I agree that there have been some bad stories, and failure to keep up with canon and some annoying retcons but because i actually watch the series over and over, I can see this has been a problem with every showrunner, even Kripke. A problem I have seen with the show since the beginning is maybe, there have been too many writers and maybe they dont watch the show or read what other writers have written from episode to episode. But since this has been a constant, I dont go nuts when it happens over and over because I still love the show and I am still invested in the whole story.
One thing I learned quickly when I came to the fandom is the hypocrisy is level 50 on all sides. One side hates the other because theyre bullies but the other side isnt much better. Bitter girls are critical of the other brother for things they dont hold against their fav and everyone thinks J2 hate the show as much as they do. These people may never know how ridiculous they look by watching a show for 10 years past the time they stopped liking it, or bitching about a show they dont even watch anymore and pretend they have a clue whats going on.
As I watch the Krikpe era recently, I like picking out things that the fandm would cry about if it happened now. In s1 Faith all the reapers were scary monster looking shriveled old dudes, and then in 2.1 (Less than 10 episodes later) Dean’s Reaper tells him Reapers can appear as whatever they want even a pretty girl “RETCON!!!” I could hear y’all crying if Dabb did that. And why did saying “Christo” help point out a demon once but never again? (till s14 when they did a call back)
How about fan-favorite Mystery Spot? We all love that right? But if it wasnt an episode until the Dabb era, you would all flame it because Sam keeps saying every day is exactly the same, thats how he knows what is going to happen and yet none of the days are the same as the one before. “THESE WRITERS SUCK!!!!!” is the response you all would give
The End is literally double Dean and 5 minutes of Sam. In the Beginning is literally 46 seconds of Sam, if these episodes happened now alll id hear is “Dabb hates Sam... writers hate Jared!!”
How about S4 when the Angels are threatening to kill Sam for using his powers, and yet, they want him to kill Lilith with his powers?? What? Theres no way that would fly in the Dabb era.
How about introducing the Anti-Christ in a season about The Apocolypse and not following through on it? Or how everyone shades Dabb for pushing Wayward sisters when Kripke pushed Ghost Facers? Even threw in a random and highly out of place advertisement for their web series that never went anywhere? (random promo in Hammer of the Gods) or having girls constantly getting in the boys’ way and Dean frequently telling Sam he cant trust him and doesnt believe in him?? “No one knows the brother’s love as well as Kripke uwu”
As far as destiel fodder goes, if anyone just started watching SPN in s12, they would never get a vibe that Dean and Cas have a thing, but maybe Sam and Cas do, Cas and Dean are hardly even friends since S12, yet the Kripke era gave birth to Destiel, and Gamble and Carver fed into it “I gripped you tight and raised you from perdition” “He was your boyfriend first” “Bases loaded bottom of the 9th, (cas) Id rather have you (as opposed to Sam) “ *dean carries trench coat around in the trunk of all his beater cars* “I need you.... we need you” “Theres people, and feelings, that I want to experience differently now, maybe for the first time” (when the only people in Deans life at the time were Sam and Cas) ALL came before Dabb, and what is Dabb guilty of? “I love you, I love all of you” and a mix tape.
So no... Dabb isnt perfect, but he definitely doesnt suck. I just think y’all decided to hate him before s12 and just never gave him a fair shot. Hardly any of you rewatch the series and cant remember things that happened back in the day, you just all seem to have this notion it was all gritty car scenes, googly eyes and dirty motel rooms.

I’m officially out into the early days of Dabb Era (masquerading as the end of Carver Era, but it’s clear that Dabb has already taken over at this point) on the tnt loop. And this scene from the end of 11.16 was just so reminiscent of 14.13:
[BOBBY leaves the house and heads to his car. He waves at the nosy neighbor, and gets in the driver's seat. He notices a bottle, with a note attached to it that says, "Fine, you Ass, you win, for now. Enjoy. R." BOBBY laughs. He gets out his journal to write about the case, when his cell phone rings.]
BOBBY: Dean. You boys okay?
DEAN: Yeah we're fine, Bobby, where the hell have you been? I've left three messages.
BOBBY: Well, I was -
DEAN: Look I got a possible lead on Lilith in Maine. But we're on a case in Reno, I texted you the address, so if you're done sitting on your ass…
To John waking up in his car, returned to the past and thinking his trip to the future was a dream:
[The Impala is parked near a lake. JOHN sleeps in the front seat. He’s back in 2003. His cell phone rings on the dashboard. He wakes up and answers the call.]
JOHN: Dean. No, I’m okay. I just… I just had one hell of a dream. Yeah. No, it was a good one. I’m on my way back. I’ll see you soon.
And at first I thought, oh hey look at these two incredibly similar scenes between Dean on the phone in the past and his two father figures who’ve just unwittingly actually seen a far-future version of Dean.
11.16 was about the “Soul Eater,” whose nest where he brings victims to feast on their souls exists “outside of space and time.” A place where Dean and Bobby could see one another before being returned to their respective places in time. And 14.13 also exists as a weird not-quite-real pocket in space and time.
But then I realized... In 11.16, Dean was calling Bobby to check out a lead on Lilith because he and Sam were much farther away... in RENO of all places.
Which will become significant again in 12.01, the first “official” Dabb era episode, as the place where John and Mary were married. And also the place where Chuck apparently ditched Amara in 14.20.
The mention of Reno one episode before 11.17 just struck me as significant now, and should for anyone who still believes that Red Meat is somehow glorifying the toxic codependency between Sam and Dean. Y’all need to watch that again and actually pay attention to what the episode does as a whole... Bobo has long been Dabb’s partner in crime when it comes to the big thematic stuff, and they literally co-wrote 11.17, kind of unofficially-officially establishing their start point for the eventual endgame. Billie, Sam’s mysterious resurrection, Dean’s self-sacrifice to barter his life for Sam’s and Billie refuses basically telling him this is not a story that can work like this anymore. And this was BEFORE she became Death. She reminded him that his next destination was The Empty, but then... Dean didn’t die. This episode literally established the defining elements of the eventual subversion of the entire narrative, which we’re seeing finally come to fruition after s14.
Can you see why so many of us were THRILLED by 11.17, and the implications of it, even back then? Because it was NEVER about glorifying the “old story” of Sam and Dean trading their lives for each other. It was about the pointlessness of it on a cosmic scale. And Dabb establishing his own in-story Avatar as showrunner in Billie, the symbolic death of the old spiral narrative. He just needed to bide his time until all the planets aligned and could make the direct run at the ultimate subversion of the original author (i.e. Chuck as Kripke’s avatar).
It made me interested to know the history of Reno getting mentioned in the narrative...
2.19: Folsom Prison Blues. Reno isn’t mentioned in the episode, but the title is from the Johnny Cash song:
When I was just a baby,
My Mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy,
Don't ever play with guns, "
But I shot a man in Reno,
Just to watch him die,
When I hear that whistle blowin',
I hang my head and cry.
Which is kind of interesting in the context of the episode taken with the context of all the later references. This was an episode where they deliberately committed a crime, deliberately got themselves “locked up,” not only to solve a case, but to help a friend who’d once saved their father’s life in wartime. At the end of the episode, yes, they stage their escape from prison, but their entire compulsion to help people they feel they owe even at the risk of their own lives or liberty, is sort of encapsulated in this episode. I can imagine Chuck’s fascination with these two, “my guys,” stars of his favorite show, choosing the selfless act this way when Chuck tried to keep forcing them to relive his opposite narrative-- one sibling over the other, one being locked up for all eternity while the other goes on happily creating the universe. The eternal conflict-sacrifice narrative... was always Chuck’s imposition on the Winchesters. Even Cain was confused by Dean’s choice in 9.11, not understanding why Dean chose to SAVE his brother rather than kill him, because Cain was living out just another version of Chuck’s story. This is why Sam and Dean are the exceptions, the version that Chuck just can’t understand, the ones who refuse over and over to accept that Chuck’s story must be *their* story. No matter how hard he’s tried, Chuck just can’t break their will. He can’t stop them from continuing to fight. Even now that Dean has broken and said yes to Michael. Even that couldn’t break his will in the end.
3.01: The Magnificent Seven. When Sam learns about Dean’s demon deal for his life, he begins trying to find ways to get Dean out of the deal and save his life. Tamara suggested to him that there’s a hoodoo priestess in Louisiana who may be able to help:
DEAN: Sam, no hoodoo spell's gonna break this deal, all right? It's a goose chase.
SAM: Yeah, but we don't know that, Dean—
DEAN (cutting him off): Yes, we do. Forget it. She can't help.
SAM (trying to cut in): Look, it's worth—
DEAN (speaking over SAM): We're not going, and that's that. What about Reno, huh?
And Dean tells him no, because if they try to get out of the deal, Sam dies. So said the demon he made his deal with, and Dean refuses to let that happen. He even refuses to tell Sam that fact yet, and diverts the conversation with the suggestion they go to Reno instead.
And this is the opposite of Chuck’s original choice, to sacrifice and lock up his sister so his creation could expand unfettered. Dean chose instead to sacrifice himself so Sam could go live that normal life he’d always dreamed of. This was just the beginning of the very long game Chuck would play with them...
Vaguely near the end of s4, and also 11.16:
Between April 17th - ~May 3rd, 2009: Bobby and Rufus investigate what they think is a ghost haunting a house in Grand Rapids, MI.
Sam and Dean are in Reno
We never do learn more about the case they were working there, but it did give them a lead on Lilith. Remember that 4.20, the Rapture, takes place on May 3 that year, immediately after this point in the timeline. Castiel was about to try to reveal Heaven’s deception, and their role in breaking the seals to free Lucifer and was dragged back to be reprogrammed into an obedient soldier again. And he would break free of that two episodes later in 4.22, siding with the Winchesters over Heaven and sealing his own fate in a powerful display of free will.
8.21: The Great Escapist: One of the Biggersons locations where we see Cas pass through in his manipulation of quantum superposition to evade the angels is Reno, Nevada.
11.16: the other side of the “outside of time and space” meeting between s4 Bobby and s11 Dean.
12.01: Dean, in trying to convince a freshly resurrected Mary of his identity, and the fact that 33 years have elapsed since she died:
Dean: Dad told me. March 23, 1972 you walked out of a movie theater, Slaughterhouse-Five, you loved it. And you bumped into a big marine and knocked him on his ass. You were embarrassed and he laughed it off, said you could make it up to him with a cup of coffee. So you went to, uh, Maroni's, and you talked and he was cute, and he knew the words to every Zeppelin song, so when he asked you for your number you gave it to him even though you knew your dad would be pissed. That was the night that you met-
Mary: John Winchester.
Dean: August 19, 1975 you were married, in Reno, your idea. Few years later I came along, then Sammy.
14.20: Amara is, according to the Lying Liar Chuck, in Reno... while meanwhile Billie, Jack, and the Shadow are having a double-secret conference in the Empty while Chuck unleashes Hell on Earth.
I’m wondering if we’ll ever hear mention of Reno again...

S14 // Top 10 Pt 2
Opening number -- I am HERE for this disco number! It’s reminiscent of the SYTYCD glory days of the past, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Using all parts of the stage? YES. Ridiculous costumes that prevent you from really identifying anyone properly? YES. Audience participation with the flashy light things? YES. I love it all, and I’m practically giddy about it.
As excited as I am for the actual dancing, I’m maybe even more excited for the intro packages and learning all about this year’s contestants! Also, can we talk about that new intro package? LOVED IT.
Comfort and Mark, Jazz (Ray Leeper) -- First and foremost, Comfort has improved by leaps and bounds since her season. I realize it was a very long time ago, but I’m still beyond impressed. Their chemistry was palpable, and I really liked the vibes of the whole piece. It was very impressive to see Mark do so well in a more focused and serious piece. He’s an incredible dancer, and this piece really showed him off. I wanted the music to be different...too much reverb for my liking, but other than that, I thought it was great.
Koine solo -- I thought it was impressive dancing, but it honestly left me a little confused. Not sure if it really showed us who she is.
Logan solo -- Logan is impressive beyond his years. There was some seriously incredible stuff in there, and he has some crazy moves that I’ve never seen.
Gaby and Lex, Argentine Tango (Miriam and Leonardo) -- I was pretty indifferent about this performance, and I’m not sure why. There was definitely some overdramatic face pulling in there (sorry, Lex), and Lex spent some time looking down at his feet. I will say, there were some very intricate flick series and lifts in there that they pulled off remarkably well. I agreed with Mary that there could have been a bit more heat / chemistry, but it wasn’t too bad.
Taylor solo -- It may be her height, but damn her lines go on for days! There’s an angelic quality to her movement that is so lovely to watch. Big fan!
Jenna and Kiki, Hip Hop (Luther Brown) -- I don’t really know what to say about this one. I definitely try to keep this primarily a positive blog, but I didn’t love this piece. There were some good moments, including some great synchronicity in the middle, but I found it a little boring overall. They got a lot of praise, but I’m not sure I was on the same with that.
Kaylee solo -- I really love her style and want her to have a Sonya Tayeh
Paul and Sydney, Contemporary (Jaci Royal) -- There’s something about having a good song that really pulls a routine together and brings out the story. That was a perfect song and a beautifully choreographed routine to go with it. Sydney really impressed me with her lines, control and effortless quality of movement. I do think she could work a little more on her acting / facial expressions, but overall it was great. Also, Paul was absolutely FABULOUS, and I forgot just how much I missed him.
Robert solo -- He’s great, and I just love his whole aura. I would have liked a little more more use of the whole stage, but overall it was good.
Dassy solo -- Anyone else want to see Dassy and Jaja dance together? Because I DO! She’s a great animator, and I loved that solo.
Allison and Logan, Jazz (Brian Friedman) -- Remember when Brian Friedman choreographed for Britney Spears? Because that could have been a Britney video or a concert number, and I loved it. It’s hard to pull focus when you’re dancing with Allison, but he managed to shine so brightly in that piece. His jumps and leaps were out of this world, and he truly embraced the character. I thought this was a really fun piece, and I loved it!
I totally forgot about Blessing and her step team until right now (sorry, Blessing!!!) but I’m so glad Nigel put them on the show. Their performance was fantastic and so powerful. I love that there were women of all shapes and sizes participating and having a voice. And, the all-stars joining in was a nice touch. Paul and Marko were surprising good, and Jasmine and Comfort crushed it!
Lex solo -- This kid is straight up incredible, and I don’t know if I’ll ever stop being impressed by his solos. UNREAL.
Cyrus and Kaylee, Hip Hop (Pharside and Phoenix) -- I always love Pharside and Phoenix routines, and this one didn’t disappoint. This piece was perfectly suited for Kaylee’s quirky personality and unique quality of movement. The lift where she held herself on Cyrus’ back was wild! The absolute strength needed for that is insane, and I felt like she held herself there forever! Great synchronicity from them as well...you can tell they’re on the same page.
Robert and Taylor, Broadway (Al Blackstone) -- I’d be lying if I said I didn’t envy Taylor’s eyebrows. They’re perfection, and I want them. This style suits both of these dancers so well. The whole thing was absolutely swoon-worthy. It was magical all-around, and their chemistry was off the charts. Legs for days from Taylor, but she backed it up with superb acting as well. I have no idea how she did some of those jumps in heels, but it was smooth and cool and perfect. Couple to beat at this point in the competition, if you ask me...and Nigel.
Sydney solo -- Ballroom solos can be rough, but I thought that was pretty good. She used the stage well and showed off some spins and skills.
Marko and Koine, African Jazz (Sean Cheeseman) -- This may have been my favorite choreography from Sean ever on the show. It showed off technical skill, strength, partnership and chemistry. These two work together SO well. It showed last week, and it just continued this week. Aside from just chemistry, there is a respect there that you can feel through their dancing. Also, I SHIP IT. #sorrynotsorry They were both excellent, and I loved this piece. Also, Cat in the headdress = her old antics, and I am here for it!
Mark solo -- I would have liked to seen more dancing throughout this, but he really brought it home at the end.
Jasmine and Robert, Contemporary (Stacey Tookey) -- Similar to how it is with Allison, it’s usually really hard to not watch Jasmine, but Robert really dazzled in that piece. I was so impressed with his quality of movement, and Stacey didn’t hold back on any of her token lifts. I thought Nigel’s critique was pretty harsh, because I felt the emotion from Robert at every turn. I thought the partnership was strong, and I liked the piece a lot.
Kiki solo -- Gotta hand it to the guy, that was a great ballroom solo.
Dassy and Fikshun, Bollywood (Nakul) -- I thought this was a really fun piece from Nakul! There was some great energy from both Dassy and Fiksun, and I liked how much fun they were clearly having. Also, the sparkle mania costumes were FAB. There was a little fall / bobble, but they moved on from it and didn’t miss a beat. This is a great partnership, and I think they’ll be able to do a lot of things well.
Bottom 3: Logan, Sydney and Robert...this is rough because they’re all good. And maybe more importantly, their all-stars are all SO good. I don’t want to lose any of them.
Judge’s choice: Robert is going home. Judges were not unanimous on this, and I have to wonder who wanted him to go. Honestly, there are plenty of Utah ballroom dancer girls, but Robert is truly unique and he could have really benefitted from this show. UGH. And we have to lose Jasmine??? BLAH.
Welp, it was always going to be tough with only Top 10 dancers, and it’s only going to get worse. No one was bad tonight, and I have no idea who will be in the bottom next week. Yeesh.
Back later with my “best of” list -- might have to watch it again to make those choices though!
