So before my mom banned pokemon from our house (probably when I was around 7?) we loved Pokémon. We never had a video game console but my cousins did. So technically pokemon stadium is my first pokemon game! Only ever the rentals haha. But we loved playing the mini games.

When my mom banned pokemon and sold all our plushies (rip butterfree plush, I'll get you back some day) it was a pokemon drought. Until my cousin went to college and gave me her pokemon card collection. (Supposedly the halo mew is worth $100?! But I treasure them) and the brainrot infected me once again.

I started learning everything I could about game mechanics. This was when Gen 5 came out in Japan so you didn't even have the English translations yet! I made lists of what my teams would be in each game, how to divy up the HMs, how to get certain egg moves. All without playing a single game lol.

And then I found playr.org. It had all the retro game boy games. Including Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Unfortunately the saving system wasn't so great and got corrupted a few times (rip shiny ekans) but I did mostly play Silver or Crystal. (This is where the name Wren for my character was born!)

I craved more but I didn't know how to download emulators safely :( I watched playthroughs to get by. To this day let's plays are a comfort source for me <3

By the way I did all of this without my parents ever knowing. I was very good at hiding it from them XD

I think it was finally like freshman year of college when I figured out the pokemon fan games. I'm talking Uranium, Phoenix Rising demo, Ethereal Gates demo, Solar Light Lunar Dark, Sage, aka non emulator ones. Basically any I could get my hands on. I also started drawing fakemon in my sketchbook. I kind of want to revisit those some day. I still have the sketchbook somewhere.

Then I figured out emulators FINALLY. At least enough and got an emulator and mystery dungeon explorers of sky, MY BELOVED! I have played through the rom many times. I have a randomizer. Also a few years ago I found Sky Temple for editing the rom aka different starter pokemon. The discord server is always working on making new sprites so you can be any pokemon you want its very wonderful.

Junior year of college, I said I'd had enough. I spent an entire year hyping over Sun and Moon and my bestie/roomie convinced me to treat myself, something I literally never did. I bought a 3DS and Pokemon Sun and never looked back. I loved it. My first real pokemon game. (My parents were not happy when they found out lol). I spent so many hours. I got big into breeding perfect IV pokemon (idk why cause I never did online battles) or shiny breeding. I used to work til 11 pm some nights and before bed I'd just do some breeding. I would have the pokemon in the perfect ball and have all the egg moves and perfect IVs and nature and have the perfect nick name cause I was obsessive like that oof. I got ultra moon when it came out as well and loved it. I also bought pokemon X and Omega Ruby which I enjoyed. But Sun and Ultra Moon I played many times and bred so many perfect pokemon.

I did pick up roms around this time for Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black and White and the sequels, and maybe Platinum? But they ran really slow on my computer so I never made it far. I preferred playing on my 3ds. But I still played quite a bit of Sky rom.

I was, less excited about Sword and Shield. I saved up a whole year to buy my switch and bought Lets go Eevee, Botw, and Sword when Gen 8 came out. I did inhale the entire game of Sword in one week, but I don't think I ever finished a second playthrough. The story was really disappointing and I did not like the gen 8 pokemon as much. It's hard when you're not a big fan of any of the starter evolutions, cause pressing B for every level up is tedious :(

I did enjoy Lets Go Eevee but after I loaned it to my bestie I had troubled getting back in. The ball throwing was a little off putting.

Oh I also bought Mystery dungeon Rescue Dx and I enjoyed that quite a bit!

Last summer I was struggling a lot with my emotions and frustration with my mom and as a form of therapy started spending money oof. I wanted a second DS so I could trade back and forth and make my life easier. It took a lot of bidding on Goodwill online but I snagged a second 2ds, legit copy of pmd sky! and pmd gates to infinity. And Pokemon Soul Silver! Also I bought the digital versions of gen 1 and 2 before the eshop closed.

I also bought Shining Pearl cause it went super on sale, but after I lent it to my bestie I haven't played since. I actually dont like too many gen 4 pokemon besides Glaceon, Leafeon, and Chatot.

Playing pokemon mystery dungeon on a 3ds instead of a computer keyboard was so much more satisfying. I played through Sky and loved it of course. Then I picked up Gates to Infinity which I never knew the story. I enjoyed it! I was and Oshawott with partner Snivy.

This brings me to last late summer, and the turtle brainrot set in and grew. Less pokemon, more turtles! I debated back and forth whether to get Scarlet or Violet up til the day it released. And then I just didn't. I watched playthroughs though. Seems pretty good and I like a lot of the pokemon, especially after gen 8 when I struggled to find enough to fill out a team of 6. I only like to use pokemon I like. I'm sure I'll get it someday but for now, turtles have my brain.

And that's my pokemon origin story! Still mad about my mom selling all our pokemon plushies. I do still have my cousins pokemon cards and I treasure them <3

I am very adamant about my pokemon having the perfect nick names.

thinking about the au i unceremoniously dropped like a bomb in mage's dms last night but also realised could be canon compliant since it doesn't contradict anything so behold, the concept of all time:

jax and wren are twins and both of them are in love with fern

(alternatively: fern has two hands and he is going to hold both of their hands)

hear me out okay. consider that there's a boy who makes you feel alive but your love rival is your twin and the object of your affection seems to look happier with him than you. even though you're twins. welcome to the natsubane family

but like. jax, the total brocon older twin who would do anything for wren and is the generally more oblivious energetic one who introduces fern to wren as his crush...

...wren, the more serious, observant, shy younger twin with a calmer personality and definitely not jealous of the fact that jax is a lot closer to fern than he is...

...and then we have fern, who loves teasing the easily flustered jax and the pride that jax's growth fills him with and his lively presence standing beside him in the kitchen while he bakes dessert, but also the sparkle in wren's eyes as he tells fern about the newest book he read and the genuine curiosity he treats the world with and the sense of comfort he gets sitting by wren's side as they watch a documentary.

yeah eventually fern ends up kissing both of them but it's so fun thinking that how he shows different sides of himself and enjoys himself in completely different ways with each twin. jax takes fern on exciting dates and they battle and train together as rivals and banter as best friends; wren soothes fern with his presence and they play with pokemon and are happy to spend time with each other quietly doing work because he's just that comfortable with wren. fern's cheeky prankster side shows up a lot more with jax, his gentle sweet side shows up a lot more with wren, and each of the twins feel that the side fern doesn't show to them makes him closer to the other twin instead.

and don't get me started on the dynamic between the twins themselves bc i'm going insane over wren's jealousy over jax being the one with the deeper bond as well as being fern's rival as a trainer but thinking that it means fern wouldn't love him as much as he would love jax so he ends up urging jax to be the one who asks fern out despite the fact that he desperately wants to be the one who makes fern smile.

also going insane over jax being conflicted over finding out that wren also is in love with fern and his life being built on loving and protecting his younger twin that he desperately wants wren to be happy but wren's happiness would come at the sake of his own happiness with fern and knowing that for anything else he'd give it up in a heartbeat but also knowing that wren would hate to see him give things up for him.

ough. neither of them realise that fern has two hands. fern kisses jax and sees wren half pulling a pout so he kisses wren as well. they both make him happy, but in different ways so they don't overlap and don't compete. he loves them both.

P.S. Hmmm. The Sewaddle line is Bug/Grass, and Sewaddle are gentle and good for beginning trainers. they make clothes out of leaves :) their middle evolution (Swadloon) is pretty mild and they don't do a whole lot, but if you love them a whole lot and become really good friends with them, they become a Leavanny. i've always liked that pokemon line.

what the friend group studies

becuz alola has their pokemon very closely tied to their culture and people themselves.. (Like z moves are manifestations of your heart at one with your pokemon and alolan nature) so our pokemon school class focuses on this pokemon ecological, cultural bonds, the rest of the classes are typical classes (typical school subjects)

becuz i actually want to study stuff I love when I self insert instead of just playing a every day at school.. Kukui's class does case studies, more in depth applicable knowledge, goes out in the field, more learning journeys, interactions with people and pokemon outside (+ sports LOL need to keep the sports episodes)

Okay so in the class they teach many sections and without a strict curriculum, we present during a lesson or suggest what to be taught for it

conservation of endangered pokemon + overall improving every pokemon's wild environmental (sometimes domestic) conditions with people (study people-pokemon environmental connections and so how to look after them), a lot intersecting with kiawe's cultural studies too but like my passion irl it's tied back to conservation

In the anime he doesnt learn dance but in the games he does, I'll treat it as one of the cultural things he's interested in, like he is passionate about alolan culture and community in general and wants to extend that to pokemon so he studies pokemon folklores & stories, traditions, rituals, festivals and practices (old and new) related to pokemon since like alola they also rely a lot on pokemon to get around etc. (idk abt other regions lol might be the same) in this aspect kinda similar to mine and ppl-pokemon connections but his is more of how it socially helps the community while taking care of pkmn but mine is how it affects pkmn in an environmental/welfare sense but I also love studying human connections

studying the alolan culinary in general..using alolan ingredients, endemic ingredients, foreign ingredients and what's the difference.. A lot of recipe creation and most importantly studying the connection between food and pokemon in alola, studying some sort of ecosystem in the wild and wild pkmns diet vs domestic pkmns diet, whether the changes are good when they eat with people etc.. Less research has been done on what specific foods each pkmn needs so she's studying that. Like really studying pkmn one by one to narrow down their diets. Also studies agricultural practices taken up in alola

anything related to the sea lol.. Studying the biology of sea pokemon, studying the alolan sea in general, how the sea interacts with people (intersections with mine and kiawe's – envi and cultural connections), also studies fishing in alola, I think she also studies tourism becuz a lot of tourists come to alola for the ocean & beach

Would be interesting to have climate change happen in their world too or something LOL. But mainly the science and ecology of the ocean

Warnings: things won’t get TOO extremely dark or serious on this blog for now, there will be a lot of swearing though. Also all the characters are around 19-20, there won’t ever be anything explicit but they’ll probably make stupid dick jokes at worst. Specifically Blake and probably Auberi sometimes. Info about my OC:

basically Blake is my protag in several pkmn games, specifically SW/SH, X/Y, and B/W! the timeline of those games’ stories are in that specific order in my OCverse. (Pretty much any semblance of a canon timeline in the games is destroyed in my OCverse, except for any games w/ sequels like Gen1/Gen2 or BW/BW2. I’ll probably put together a proper timeline eventually, but essentially it’s just in the order I played all the games. Rn that order is FRLG -> HGSS -> SM -> ORAS -> SWSH -> XY -> DPPT/BDSP -> BW -> PLA -> SV -> BW2)

Bio: Blake was born in Nuvema Town, where they lived until they were around seven before moving to Aspertia City. They lived there until they were about thirteen, before moving to Postwick in the Galar region with their mother. There, they met one of their best friends, Hop. At the time, Blake was super closed off and shy, as their social anxiety made making friends difficult. The only one they’ve ever really let their guard down with was Hop. Watching Leon’s matches on TV with Hop was what inspired them to become a trainer, though for many years they didn’t actually think it’d be possible for them- considering they came from a family who didn’t really like Pokemon, therefore they had nowhere near as much experience with them like Hop did. They feared their social anxiety would get in the way, too.

Once they were 16, they unexpectedly got their first Pokemon from Leon- a Sobble named Kappa. After getting endorsed by Leon and some encouragement from Hop, they agreed to sign up for the Gym Challenge. They had a rocky start- losing battles pretty frequently was putting a huge dent in their already low self-esteem, and it was impacting Kappa as well. But over time they learned the ropes of being a trainer and was quickly becoming a rising star amongst the Gym Challengers. They went on to stop the Darkest Day along with Hop, catch Eternatus, become champion, and earn the trust of Zacian.

During their reign as champion, they trained at the Isle of Armor and explored the Crown Tundra. These small adventures slowly helped them realize just how much pressure their title was putting on them- and finally caused them to slip up during the final match of the next year’s Gym Challenge.

After losing their title, they decided to look for a new path- which lead them to Kalos, where they helped in putting a stop to Team Flare’s plan and caught Yveltal, and eventually back to Unova, where they fought against Team Plasma alongside Reshiram. Following the defeat of Plasma, they’ve enrolled as a college student at Blueberry Academy- and have done quite a lot in the past two years, such as visiting the Paldea region and catching more Pokémon. Now, they’ve returned to Unova, and are resting after having helped in the fight against Kyurem.

Blake is also the main character in my comics, Adventures in Kalos (on my instagram @/xgolden_latiasx) and Unova Fates (on Tumblr, insta, and webtoon). This blog will probably contain spoilers for those comics!

More rules/info/explanations/etc.:

All three of these characters are friends with multiple legendaries, so if they seem overpowered to you… sorry? I’m just having fun over here. They don’t really use any of them for battle that often, though they might threaten to sic their legendary on someone as a joke (but they won’t actually). But as of right now the only legendary that’s actively with the group is Reshiram, he’s the only one who’ll get involved in whatever shenanigans/event the gang finds themselves in. (Unless I’m participating in an event from another person and they say they don’t want Reshiram involved.)

I’m relatively willing to join in on high stakes stuff as long as I feel up to it, but please ask me first if you want one of my characters to actively participate somehow.

Also, this blog runs with the idea that Rotomblr is a weird site that links other universes together. So for example say if… Kalos is blowing up or something on another person’s blog and someone tries to get Auberi involved, I’m just going to say it’s happening in a different universe. Or if a different SWSH/XY/BW/PLA protag character tries to interact.

Please also understand that I have realllllly bad social anxiety and awkwardness. I apologize if it takes me a while to respond to something, or if my replies seem short and uninterested (I promise I’m interested in the conversation I’m just bad at words). Or long and ramble-y. Please tell me to shut the fuck up if you need me to.

I’ve bever been to Alola before— but i always wanted to!! It looks so beautiful and the pokemon native to that region are literally my FAVORITEEE i love lurantis, drampa, cutiefly, oricorio….

As for the mimikyu question, yes I have seen a mimikyu before! My best friend has one actually, her name is wren! Such an adorable creature, i want to sew her a bunch of different costumes— if only I was better at sewing…

I honestly thought mimikyu were so adorable when I first saw one!! I am a fan of ghost types, but the fairy typing as well is so fascinating to me, i love it! Despite this though, sometimes i do find myself wondering what exactly is underneath the costume, but im a little scared to find out.

Just finished the dlc. Average. Nothing special human wise. I have my theories over wtf the ending was but we will see.

hc names!

about time i talked about them, so... we stumbled upon this tweet a long time ago and, knowing that francis and fresia have jp names, decided to commit to the bit. while deciding on them all, we ended up accidentally setting down a seasonal theme, so we committed to that bit too!

fern, shimoyuki hanata (霜雪ハナタ)

the word 霜雪 is read as ソウセツ sousetsu, comprised of the kanji 霜 shimo, meaning frost, and 雪 yuki, meaning snow, but we've appropriated it as a surname. very fitting, hm? we've kept hanata as it is in the tweet. we think it's cute to keep the pun. also, yukihana means snowflake and i think that is very fucking neat.

jax, natsubane koujaku (夏羽黄雀)

夏羽 natsubane is a word that is read as is, and means summer plumage. it's literally the kanji 夏 natsu, meaning summer, with 羽 hane, meaning feather. in hs au, jax uses the name hane in games he plays as a character name, which leads to fern's first nickname for him, 羽さん hane-san. 黄雀 koujaku is a type of sparrow, which is a bird we associate with him. he prefers people calling him コウ kou if they're close enough to be on a first-name basis, which is what he gets fern to call him after knowing each other for a while. the cherry on top is that jaku sounds a bit like jax. haha you literally can't fit more bird references into this guy.

fresia, yukimine tokiha (雪嶺トキハ)

雪嶺 as a word is read セツレイ setsurei, and is actually one of the surnames i came up with when brainstorming a name for fern. i think it's really fucking banger, like. it literally means snow-capped peak. she lives in a place called frozen heights. it's fucking perfect. we've also kept tokiha from the tweet as well!

ace, umezaka ace (梅坂エース) and melony, umezaka melony (梅坂メロニー)

the symbolism i wanted for ace and melony wasn't as clear, because i did want their names to be a bit representative of spring. we went for 梅坂 umezaka from 梅 ume, meaning plum, and 坂 saka, for hill. plum blossoms are in bloom during spring, after all. the other thing with this name is that 梅 is in the word for rainy season, 梅雨 tsuyu, which happens in tropical areas (such as their home region hoenn!) that said, because ace isn't from borrius, we've kept ace as his name in katakana. similarly, melony's name is just her name in katakana, メロニー! fresia calls him エー助 e-suke as a joke sometimes. 助 is a common male name ending and um. yes! it's how we've localised her acey-boy nickname.

and as an extra... jax's fake identity from bodyguard au, which isn't even in canonverse but i think is important to go over anyway to complete the seasons:

wren, shuusou yuu (秋霜ユウ)

wren's name was chosen before jax even meets fern. log doesn't tell jax the name of aros' son before he sends him on the mission, so the surprise he gets when he realises the 霜 sou in his name, is the same kanji as shimo in fern's name shimoyuki. we wanted to complete the seasonal theme, and wren's clothes are pretty damn orange, so we went with 秋 shuu for autumn. the origins of ユウ yuu are 友 like in 友情 (yuujou, meaning friendship), 勇 and 雄 like in 勇者 (yuusha) or 英雄 (eiyuu), both meaning hero. also, ユウ looks kinda like コウ, right?

Finished this one! Didn't actually take that long. Wished I'd made the details and relationship sections bigger and shrunk the team bit, but oh well.

Mr Syma in all his glory. He's charismatic, friendly, rebels against his rich parents and loves his pokemon. He likely has other pokemon, but I haven't decided what yet. He doesn't have much of a story rn since Scarlet and Violet aren't out yet lmao. Did wonder if he'd join Team Star but haven't decided yet. I'll wait until I play Violet.

His team rn consist of Quince, the sprigatito (his starter from Uva). Quince looks cute here but he's a spiteful lil kitty who hisses at anyone he doesn't trust. Didn't get along with Syma at first, but they reached a friendship. Lazslo, the shiny meowth (Kantonian, more of a pet). Syma got Lazslo as a young child and they've been thick as thieves since then. Lazzie is very much an emotional support pokemon. And Milkshake, the shiny giratina! Ain't that a weird one? Syma inherited Milkshake from his ancestors, Halcyon and Volo. Specifically, Hal caught the giratina from an ultra wormhole. Milkshake was pretty confused after being in statis for 200 years, but he gets along with Syma. Loves his cooking.

Relationship wise we got: Fans- Kyuna, Nessie and Mossy (discord friends who have the hots for him lol) Paternal Aunt- Cynthia. Syma admires her and likely gets a gabite from her. Ancestors- Halcyon and Volo. Hal is my PLA sona and Volo is my husband so ofc. They're his... greatx3 grandpas I believe? Boyfriends- Wren, my partner's sona and Arven! Casual/FWB- Professor Turo and Brassius. What can I say? Syma likes em older. Probably add more to the list after more npcs are revealed lol

Not too much else to say. He wears his pins on the orange flap of the jacket. He has claws and fangs as inherited from Hal's genes. His face is very Volo-like. He dyes his fringe to suit his outfit. Sometimes his eyes glow, y'anno. Normal stuff!

soooo tell me what typically inspires you when you make an oc or that you like seeing in characters in general <3

Um... I haven't actually thought about it too much before but after some reflecting I think a lot of my characters start from wanting to flesh out other characters I've made? Like... I made Null by chance bc I was challenging myself to turn random Pokemon into trolls and his personality is inspired by the Pokemon's dex entries and stuff- BUT, I made Jejune, Parlus, and Satrne bc I wanted to make some NPC designs for a few of his mutant cultists and ended up getting really attached to them all... and then eventually I made Julius to go with Jejune's backstory and Lustrous to go with Parlus's And I made Odarem to go with Julius, too. And Reshaper only happened bc Julius was a thing (and bc I was inspired by Chase).

So like, when I start making an oc, it's usually only with a purpose in mind...

But, if you mean like, how I flesh them out I'll do what lots of people do and take some inspiration from either past/unused OC's of mine OR from stuff that I happen to be really into at the time...

Like, with Reshaper, my love of the Fae from DnD and specifically how they were interpreted in Critical role was the basis of his whole deal and personality. Null was based on the Pokedex entries like I said. And Odarem was inspired by my deep love for the game The Mortuary Assistant and then subsequently inspired by Vultures which are related to death also.

I'll also try and use images I really like as inspiration now and then, but not as much for anything in-depth really,,

😭😭Sorry I could only answer one but this is a question I can talk more about :]!!!

💛 what are their favorite activities to do together? or what do they usually do when they spend time together?

There are a bunch of things... maybe their favourite is for kia/we to take wren places on his charizard, an example in the show is him taking soph to his secret spot, a spring under the volcano.. Wren will keep saying he loves places with natural beauty and kia/we will always remember that and bring him to places he won't easily reach on foot and they'll watch the scenery and the sunsets together

Another activity is going to kia/we's farm and taking care of the farm pokemon and then resting atop the hill overlooking the farm in the evening, or going back to his house and hanging out with his sister

Also since they are students and to make my own student life more bearable it's nice to think about us studying together maybe holding our left hands opposite the table hehehfkgk i just know if he was my study partner I would be soooo motivated ok😭😭

They also do field projects together related to their area of study interests like culture and conservation!!! This makes me happy to think about cuz it's what I want to do irl also!!!

Cuz it's poke/mon they also battle quite a lot becuz they're both competitive and love the adrenaline.. you know how to cheer up wren kia/we appeals to their love language of "I can take you to someplace scenic", when it comes to kia/we wren asks him if he wants to battle and nearly every time he gets really excited :33

Kia/we is also a traditional fire dancer so sometimes he performs for wren... and wren also shows him some of the poems they wrote... guys I neeed a partner who is also a fan of the arts like mee....

Also they like to camp together! It's at the place in the show where they also camped, a hike up behind kia/we's family farm... lots of late night talks up there.. they may or may not have had their first kiss up there B)
