Polaris’ starting pokemon, Typhlosion Tiph, and Hisuian Typhlosion Flicker, passed away on April 21th at 3:47 am, after a trip to the vet declared that their inner flames were dimming, a common occurrence in older Typhlosion. They had lived longer than the average lifespan of a Typhlosion, and they passed away peacefully in their sleep, resting next to Polaris.

Polaris will be spending this week grieving, and preparing the rites of death for their two beloved pokemon. They are currently unable to make a statement as they are deep in mourning, so I will be communicating on their behalf until they are feeling able.

This line of communication will be kept open, and any questions, concerns, or condolences can be sent to me.

I don't know what to say here. I know greif, I know of loss. I see it in everything I do, in every dream I have. But nothing, not thinking about it, nor knowing about it makes it easier when it happens. Your pokemon loved you as much as each other. That love shows up as energy for me, as a mark. I can tell you that that love doesn't stop with death.

You are so beloved Polaris.

All I can hope to do is be there for you while you greive.

Vivianne stared at the text, absorbing what she read, hands held together Infront of her mouth like she was praying as she just sat and...let it all process. ''Oh zapdos above...'' she mummered to herself as she stared at the text, slowly moving to try and text back, paragraphs being made only to immediately be deleted eventually one draft was sent. 'I am deeply pained to learn this information, Tiph and Flicker were important parts of the family. I know my starlight will need time to mourn but please tell them that I will be sending them a care package. Nobody should go through such a devastating loss alone.'

[The person behind the camera seems to be Skie. Polaris just. Blinks at xem for a second before their face contorts into a crooked grin and they begin laughing. The younger girl seems a bit less nervous now that Polaris seems to be amused. Skie can be heard continuing their accusations on exactly how many kid Polaris has while Polaris laughs until they begin wheezing, crumpling from their seat on a cushion on the floor, and just flopping on the ground, still laughing.]

“Dear Sprite, Beedrill, and Tari

So so so sorry this letter is late. We finally resolved the Walrein situation. Unfortunately…well, the pod will only accept Wallace as the leader of their pod, so I’m going to have to leave him to stay at the shelter. He’ll be fine, he was getting bored at the house, but I’m sure he’ll miss his daily Beedrill inspections. Skie got it in xer head that I should do an interview on the main sanctuary account while I’m in town, so it looks like its going to be another week. My work never stops it seems! Ah well.

Sprite: ….I’m going to be honest Sprite, I’m not exactly delighted by that news. You. Told Kittsu to leave and she did. That’s not great! That’s super not great actually! Just- fucking dist Sprite. I’m not. mad. A smidge frustrated but not mad.

….I hope your outing was fun, and that you feel better soon. Make sure youre drinking water and eating regular meals and getting enough sleep. Please take care of yourself, bubs.

Beedrill: Your support in my caring for Bird means everything to me Beedrill. This week she got to pet more Spheals and ride (very safely) on a snowmobile. She says it was very loud but a bit cool. Matcha has been banned, but she does enjoy mochi.

As for service pokemon. The main reason for keeping service pokemon and battling pokemon separate, is specifically in the case of medical alert and task pokemon. For example, if Orion was a battler and I was battling with him, if I started having problems with my heart, he would be too distracted by the battle and wouldn’t be able to alert me to sit and calm down, or fetch my medicine. Or if I had a panic attach while he was battling, he may not notice and be able to task to help me out of it. That’s the main reason for not having a pokemon do both. It’s possible to have a service pokemon also be able to battle, but it’s a bit frowned upon for those reasons. It really depends on what tasks the pokemon will be trained to do to help you out. If you’d like, it’s something we can discuss at length when I get home. I would be happy to train a service pokemon for you if that was something you wanted.

Tari: Glad that Corro is keeping Jester in check haha. And I’m especially happy to hear that you and Delta have made up! Good job kicking its ass at air hockey, much respect. I used to be quite good at air hockey in my college days…perhaps we should battle it out to see who’s the best when I come home, yeah? I appreciate your thanks, but it is unneeded. You are always welcome in my home Tari, no matter what.

Hello Professor. I was glad when your letter arrived, Sprite had got it in his head that something bad had happened to you and we both enjoyed this letter. I will miss Wallace, Admittedly, I do wish I had some of his DNA and a small laboratory to study him and come to my own conclusion on weather he was a dual typed pokemon, or a fraud. I hope he finds peace at the sanctuary. In your next letter I would like to know how bird is doing, as not hearing from her directly has made me rather on edge. Could you please include an excerpt from her in the next letter. Tell her she doesn't need to write in cursive, or use code name, just something, even a drawing would be good. I will think over the service pokemon thing. Theres nothing wrong with me to a diagnosable extent. I don't think giving a service pokemon out to someone who doesn't need one would be the best course of action. Maybe a normal pokemon would do just fine. I have been hanging out more with your green haired friend. It's interesting. I have a couple more observations, but i'll spesify them when I have more evidence to back them up.

I hope Sinnoh is treating you well, despite its issues, it sounds like a good place. We will go there together one day. Thats not a prediction, it's a promise.

I am so so sorry for my lack of a letter on Tuesday. Things are really staring to kick up at the sanctuary and I simply did not have the time. So today you are getting a Thursday letter instead of a Friday letter to try and make up for it.

It seems that we have resolved the Walrein issue. Unfortunately, it seems that the only Walrein that the pod will accept as their leader is…Wallace. It’s going to break my heart to see him go, but it’s for the best for both him and the pod.

Drea: Hi darling. Of course I can help you with the service mon stuff when I get home, it would be my pleasure. It can be a bit nerve wracking, but you’re being very brave asking me about it and I promise I will train you up the best and most gentle service mon. I see Ingo and Emmet are visiting! A shame that I missed them, they are excellent battlers and I would have loved to have a mock battle against them. Another time. I’m sure they will train up your Larvitar to be wonderful and strong! It’s lovely to see Liam and Dune getting on well.

Viv: Hello dewdrop :) Augh I’m missing you so much. My futon is lonely without you in it. I would say cold but it turns out Bird is quite clingy at bed time haha. I got an idol commissioned for you, a carved on of a crowen gyarados. And one for Drea of a sudowoodo but that’s a surprise. It’ll be ready next week. Ah. Speaking of. On a related note, they finally redirected the package with the Dreepy egg and the other letter. Don't worry, one of our workers is a dragon-type specialist, so he will be taking care of the egg with his partner pokemon Dragapult! It's a perfect match. He says you can chose the name of the Dreepy when it hatches :)

Augh this week has been exhausting. I’m so glad I didn’t decide to become a pokemon ranger because wrestling Walrein is not my forte.

Oh, your migraines got bad again? :((( I’m so sorry Delta, that sucks. You know I don’t love the idea of you scraping by on savings Del, that’s just not healthy…I can wire you some money if you need, its no trouble, I promise.

I’m surprised to hear that you’ve never been to Sinnoh before! I will now proceed to plan an entire trip that may or may not occur. I think you would enjoy it here anyway. Like I said, very spiritual up North.

I’m not surprised that Tari is kicking you out of the house when she sees you. Hopefully, you too make up soon. I don’t blame you for not being able to look over them a lot. Vivianne is home, so at least I know one adult is looking after them at all times. Pfft, yeah you and Beedrill are kind of similar in demeanor, makes sense that you would get along a bit.

Oh my Arceus that’s really funny actually. I guess my Sinnohian accent sounds extra weird in Johto. Thank you for assuring them that I am just sleepy and not in fact a ghost or malicious Spirit. I did not love having salt tossed at me.
