When I was in clothing school, we were allowed (and even encouraged!) to combine school work with our other interests, such as cosplay. I made my Narumi cosplay in 2019 when we had to learn to make a women’s suit. ✌️

The suit is made out of recycled fabric (second hand curtains) with zero waste philosophy in mind.

👰🏼‍♀️ Virgos and other virgos placements (mars especially) tend to have little habits that they do while thinking about or analyzing problems/situations such as biting nails, brush the dust of the table/clothes/objects with their hand/fingers, putting toothpick in the mouth and playing with it, stomping their feet repetitively while sitting, etc.

👰🏼‍♀️ Virgos on the negative side can be critical, especially Virgo moons, whenever they say something outloud it wouldn't always for the sake of others well being, sometimes or most of the times their comments/opinions can be hurtful or heartless, either they are explaining the practical truth or based on their own perspective/judgement. It can be downright degrading for the other person. Depends on the whole chart and other planets/house placements, If virgos doesn't feel comfortable about someone or they just have something to say because of something they feel it's not right or proper based on their personal preferences/principles, they would likely to criticize behind others back or judge them in front of the other person.

She is a senior coworker of the main character who secretly loves to do cosplay, as she is a famous cosplayer otaku who cosplays mostly as male characters and she also reads yaoi manga. Even in the anime episodes, they literally present her character with Zodiac Virgo 🩷 (and I love how lovey dovey her Scorpio husband is towards her, he liked to tease her and made her guard down showing her vulnerable sensitive side like in this scene below).

You both could be talking for HOURS about theories or making bets about who would win the last battle.

But also my man is the type to get a little bit jealous of 2D characters, so whenever you got a new husbando please make sure to reassure him.

(Or tell your sexy bf that the character is ur fav bc they're almost as sexy as him)

Having crisis together at 3 a.m. because of the spoilers for the next anime or manga chapter that you're waiting for.

He comforts you when your fav character dies.

You both cried the shit out of you after the end of snk.

Manga shopping dates are also a thing in your relationship and I swear is the cutest thing ever :(

There's also dates when you both are just reading mangas with soft music at the background, no one's talking, just the comfort of each other presence.

You got him to do the Tik Tok trend of Wotakoi hands dance with you during pandemic.

At least in one of his social media accounts he has an anime matching icon with you.

I don't think he'd be into cosplay or going to conventions, but if you ask him enough times he'd be doing anything for you <3.

9 Anime to Watch When You Want to Feel Like 👇🏾

Looking to sate that lovey, dovey, sweet tooth of yours or maybe you just want a saccharine palate cleanser, below are a few short series/movies to check out for casual viewing. While these are mostly the kind of shows that give you the anxious butterflies wondering will they or won't they (they will), I tried to include something for everyone though this is a list deserving of several installments. Either way, the genre de jour is romance✨ even if it does come with a side of laughter.

HoriMiya - (series)

Filed under: "It's popular because it's good", "Opposites attract", "Sunny x Grumpy", "Love Triangle" (but less so- read the manga though), "Unrequited love", high school

Horimiya is a funny comfort watch and palette cleanser because, within the ensemble cast, you see many different types of relationships play out which I didn't include above. I think what adds to this series is the fact that all of the MC's are very in their heads about everything for one reason or another so you will find someone you can relate to. The beauty of this story is knowing that one small thing can ultimately lead to something great and that everyone grapples with coming into their own, one way or another. So, there's a bit of angst in line with a coming of age story but, considering the title is a portmanteau of the two main characters, you know things work out in the end.

Sasaki and Miyano - (series + OVA)

This is another funny comfort watch for me that is compounded by the fact that the build up and consideration this story takes is so. heartwarming. I would loosely say delinquent adjacent Sasaki falls in love with fudanshi Miyano and spends the whole series being a precious idiot in love. At an all boys' school, Miyano tends to find BL scenarios everywhere, except when it comes to he and Sasaki.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku - (series)

I'm not going to weigh in on whether there's merit in MC Momose's assumption that being an otaku is relationship suicide. In fact, she swears she'll get it right this time by burying that side of herself down when she starts a new job. But she soon finds she doesn't have to pretend when she bumps into childhood friend Nifuji. While she tries her best to border on "normie", she finds acceptance and space to let her nerd flag fly along with another couple at her office that cosplay as normal people during their 9-5. Relatable.

Kase-san and Morning Glories (OVA's)

So this is tricky as you can really only watch one of the OVA's, wherein they are already in a relationship. Kase and Yamada find themselves excitedly exploring their new relationship while also offsetting the fact that they really don't have much in common. The story is sweet and rather honest about intimacy when it comes to things like your significant other seeing you naked or how we tend to project our uncertainty onto others even in an established relationship. Even though there are a lot of things pulling them apart or reasons why they may be better suited for others, they make a concerted effort to choose and stick with one another.

I can't tell if this is good or if I'm just a casualty of Jonah Scott's Akihiko. It's hard trying to make it in a band. Even if you're talented, there could always be someone out there just a little better than you are. Same could be said about love, I guess. Especially in this series. It glosses over answering questions about some of the more series issues the main characters are facing but ultimately ties things up, even if the bow is shitty (I'm looking at you, movie). I think, without context of the manga, including the movie on the rec list makes it problematic so, dear reader, maybe just stop with the series.

MY Love STORY!! (series)

There are several points during this series where I was waiting for the other shoe to drop because Takeo and Rinko are simply so happy and innocent together. There are also several points where I expected this to turn into a BL because of Makoto. Ultimately, I'm glad Takeo is surrounded by the love he deserves because he's a sweet, baby angel.

More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers (series)

This series hasn't finished airing but I'm calling it now. The "get married and settle down" propaganda these days is crazy and that's likely how this little ecchi based on the premise of needing to simulate married life in order to graduate came to be. Additionally, at least one inclusion had to be the very specific romance genre wherein a pining but melba toast dude catches the interest of people extremely out of his league. But things aren't always what they seem, here, especially in the case of gyaru Akari Watanabe.

My Senpai is Annoying (series)

Technically, this show is more of a slice of life when it comes to Futaba Igarashi but I included it anyway because who wouldn't ultimately swoon for Harumi Takeda? Like, we get it, girl, that giant himbo with his old school chivalry and novice comprehension of technology would wear anyone down. TBH, writing that line made me want to rewatch this series again. This is a slightly smaller ensemble but ultimately still working through some funny relationship hiccups. I'm not calling it a slow burn. Reframe your expectations for a slice of life, but it has those awkward bits where characters have burgeoning and unavoidable emotions hence its inclusion.

TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You (series)

I lowkey had mixed feelings about this series but included it because, when I ship characters, this is very much what I mean. Just the overwhelmingly wholesome and awkward way two people create a life for themselves even if the milestones are a bit out of order. Additionally, while there's usually an element of boring person not deserving of other person and angst therein, this series highlights ways in which both main characters are beloved so it's literally just the icing of "we're here, we know we're in love, now what?".

“I wish they wouldn’t hang on her like that,” Tarou grumbled to Hirotaka.

They were spending their Saturday at a small doujinshi convention a few towns over. A former circle member of Narumi’s had reached out asking for help with her table when over half of her current group came down with the flu. Narumi had been quick to say yes, and, being a veteran of such events, she’d roped in all her otaku friends to help. (Plus Naoya, who was just happy to be included.)

Never one to shy from a challenge, Hanako had immediately bought supplies to whip up a new cosplay for the occasion. She’d barely slept in the past week, and had bitten Tarou’s head off when he’d helpfully - he’d thought - suggested she wear an old one she already had made, but she’d managed to finish the final touches the previous night before collapsing into bed.

And she looked stunning.

Current obsession: I'm still on my samurai bullshit and I recently bought a tsuba (sword handguard) that's estimated to be from Edo-period (about 1700s I was told). Also bought a Meiji-period ukiyo-e print and now I want more.... I'm also sewing like crazy (made a skirt yesterday and might get started on a dress later this week). Oh and I'm back into cosplay!

After years of butting heads and petty disagreements, Hanako and Taro begin to realize that the next stage of their relationship may be the most challenging one yet. Naoya faces his own hurdles in trying to understand his feelings toward Ko, whose quest for personal growth has led her farther out of his reach. THE WEDDING WAS SO CUTE!!! Hanako's dress was beautiful and her cosplay was perfect! The other highlight of the book was Naoya and Ko finally admitting their feeling and getting together- I was so excited I almost cried. Overall, this was a wonderful read. I definitely need to watch the anime and get my hands on the remaining volumes.

Since I was taking glamor shots of my wares for next weekend, I figured I'd throw this on and take some glamor shots. It's my first time cosplaying as a woman! Hanako Koyanagi from #wotakoi! There are a few small details left to finish up, but it's done and I'm so proud! Sports coats... sports coats are the single most difficult thing I've ever made. They are so much more difficult than you (me) would think. If you say otherwise I have the right to smack you with a fish. But now I can make welts like a champ. Plus! I like a good sports coat! I feel empowered in a sports coat and I can wear it to work and it FITS and there is NOTHING like having clothes that fit. I can't stress that enough. Something made for you and your body change your brain and your just so much more confident. It's why I do what I do! I love cosplay that I can use outside cons. Like this one! Chill and slice of life: Wotakoi

Something I enjoyed very much was Wotakoi: Love is hard for Otaku, a slice of life series showcasing eventually six main characters grouped around otaku couple Hirotaka and Narumi. There's no grand romance or strong drama there but a quiet exploration of the otaku culture and relationships for young adults that have settled into the world.

You see, Narumi and Hirotaka were childhood friends, bonding over their love of games, manga, and similar pursuits. Hirotaka is an obsessive gamer, completely unashamed about it - and almost unashamed about his social shortcomings as well. Narumi walks the tightrope between appearing normal and hiding her otaku obsessions and actually living them. She's in on the deep end, though, publishes fan works, enjoys men-on-men love manga (yaoi) and is up for gaming, anytime. She however left her last job because she was outed as an otaku and left by her boyfriend. And in her new job she immediately runs into Hirotaka and discovers her reserved coworker Hanako is actually a hardcore otaku obsessed with cosplaying.

Being in full blown denial she goes drinking with Hirotaka only to tell him she would never date him, he's deep in the friend zone, and also not her type, while also admitting that she only dated assholes that did not really accept her for who she is. In the end, Hirotaka asks her to date him regardless, and Narumi agrees in spite of all she said.

Soon they are joined by Kabakura (the supervisor) and Hanako who are both also otaku who secretly date, and we watch them hang out together and build their friendship. Kabakura is a very closeted otaku who obsesses about manga and anime. He used to be sports rivals with Hanako in school and asked her to date him right when it was clear they would never compete again. They are a very stable couple while getting all heated up and fighting each other very often. This also stems in Kabakura not being able to express his feelings which makes Hanako, the outwardly confident woman very insecure. (Hell, Kabakura is the only character who's addressed only by his last name.)

Hiding in a society where everybody pretends

Both couples hide their relationships at work but spend significant time with each other, exploring their various nerdy pursuits. It's great to watch these four go full nerd on topics, join their passions, fight over them, get all hot and bothered.

One of the cutest scenes is when Narumi runs into Naoya, a cute barista, and they seem to hit it off while Kabakura and Hanako watch, with Kabakura all obsessing about the inappropriate closeness between the two, to the point that Hanako teases him that he's not Narumi's dad. The resolution is that Naoya is Hirotaka's little brother (which was obvious to Narumi) and the only normie in the cast, drawn into the world of otaku by the initial four characters. He's naive to a fault and an eternal sunshine of positivity, a strong opposite to his reserved, outright cold and unsocial brother.

Eventually he runs into the extremely shy introvert Kou and due to the way she dresses misses the fact she's a girl. Being unable to really make social connections due to her anxiety and obsessive thinking, Kou is also an extreme gamer like Hirotaka. She just doesn't get a chance to hide from Nao who elbows his way into her life. She's also incredibly adorable as a character and I'm personally glad every time I see her.

Once the cast is complete we see them put in various situations, like a company trip to the hot springs. Or Hirotaka and Narumi going on a date with a "no nerd stuff" rule. Or Kou being Nao's protector in games.

The actual romance between Narumi and Hirotaka is suggested to be a very slow burn for two consenting adults, hindered both by Hirotaka's shyness/problems with expressing feelings and how familiar they already are around each other. Things go even more slowly between Kou and Nao. I started volume 4 out of 6 (ended) and so far nothing has happened between the two. I hope it will.

But Wotakoi seems to go at its own pace and its view of human relationships seems more grounded than all these big feelings/dramatic confession stories, clearly aimed at a crowd that has already cooled down a bit over the realities of romance. It shines a loving light on the insecurities of its cast members and their relationships to each other. And while it takes place in the same kind of locations you would see in many other Japanese shows, it transports a completely different feel.

To me, Wotakoi is like a relaxing bath at the right temperature. It has charming characters and it lets us into their lives. Instead of being goal-driven (who does the protagonist end up with? will the heroine be won over?), it meanders like a river in nature, generating engaging situations and the small confessions, fights, and scenes of shared love that can flower in the more every-day way. I said it's relaxing, but it's never lame.

In fact, I'm very interested what will happen to all of them. If I had one criticism then it's that by now it has too many in-game scenes. In spite of what I said about it "meandering" I have the feeling it does go somewhere and that ultimately it's a romantic show about expanding feelings and familiarity, and in some sense I can't wait for that to unfold.

[EDIT] PS - I finished the collected manga volumes. Wotakoi gets even better as it races towards its end. I treasure all its characters. Go, Ko-kun!
