Hello Tumblr friends, stepping waaaay out of my comfort zone here.

But I've had for years an account over at worldanvil.com (also on Tumblr: @worldanvil ) And yearly they have a competition of who wrote the best thing. (World Anvil World building Awards 2024)

(WorldAnvil is a world building website, where writers, artists, readers, game developers, game players, dungeon master and so on have gathered to write down or keep track of their worlds or fiction or non-fiction. I've been writing about a fictional pirate ship roaming the seas in the current time.)

I've submitted three things for the competition. - In the category Strength and Honour, I've submitted the character article about the Captain of the above mentioned pirates. - I've submitted the whole world to the Best World category - And the timeline.

Why am I (after keeping it a secret for 4 years) telling you this? Because this year everyone, also people who are not on WorldAnvil can vote.

hello i know on here there's a post that I've reblogged a few times about lamenting the loss of forum boards and websites for communities and such

I've been tinkering (see: going feral holy shit) with an idea for a wow RP guild, and using my old favorite website builder, worldanvil. And my god. Lads and lasses and lemons lemme tell ya

They have forum boards now. With integrated dice rolling for play-by-post as well as the ability to post as your character (duh) but also for the storyteller to post as NPCs, including organizations that you've made articles for.

Like, look at this:

look at how clean that is! The blue box is storyteller/DM note to the players of the post. Couple this with their insanely robust website tools and this site literally fucks so hard. I constantly stumble on new and cool features on this thing, yall. If you're into worldbuilding, RP, or just crave forum-based games, please give worldanvil a shot.

This! Is my homebrew setting Worldanvil. There are only two finished pages at the moment, Bat-Folk and Merfolk, but I hope to get it more fleshed out soon. I’ve got some repayment writing to finish for my friend (as thanks for the art on those two pages) but soon I’ll be writing about the mushroom people

As my mutuals begin their journeys into NaNo, I am only just preparing for a journey of my own; an event held in December by @worldanvil, known as WorldEmber!

In short, WorldEmber is like the worldbuilding/lore equivalent to NaNo. It takes place starting in December on the World Anvil website, and for me, it's a much more attainable challenge!

Word count is automatically tracked through each article you publish and/or update (something I personally struggle to do during NaNo), you only need 10,000 words to win, and there are also badges for higher word counts. You can find out more about it at this official video from World Anvil describing the event, as well as this page that shows what WorldEmber has looked like in the past.

That said, I've opened a WorldEmber channel in my discord as we prepare for the event.

Anyone is welcome to join the North Haven discord here!

I'm more than happy to help anyone out who wants to get started with World Anvil and I hope to see more of you there!

Finally getting to introduce my new OC, Gwen!

Gwendolin Bunting Miller

(She/her)

Age - 25

Species - Skyfolk human

Gwen was born on the prosperous settlement of Sarahnal's Isle, but moved to little village, Cirrus, with her family at age 4. While she initially struggled to fit in, she ended up quickly becoming friends with a young Clara. The two became close friends throughout their childhood, though ended up having a bit of a falling out as teenagers as a friendly competition got a little too heated (though they still considered one another friends, even if they rarely talked).

At 21, her family returned to Sarahnal's Isle, but she stayed behind, having just secured a job as an engineer, a job that is very oversubscribed there compared to Cirrus. She had a difficult few months, not being a very social person, and ended up becoming a little isolated. She eventually reconnected with Clara after a chance encounter, who helped ease her back into the community. A couple years later, the pair started dating, and they're rather cute together.

Like Clara, she's driven by curiosity, but instead of Clara's scattergun "learn everything" approach, Gwen tends to hyperfocus in on a handful of subjects. At the moment, she's going ham with computers.

She was designed with some soft collaboration from AI dungeon, generating a handful of vague details which I extrapolated into a full character.
