#i feel like I posted this already but I also can't find it in any recent posts so... #......he #cats #EVEN if I did post it.. why not poast himb again? it's he #I'm like halfway through actually editing aforementioned costumes and stuff and i WANT to work on sculptures again and I have video #s and that worldbuilding slideshow and all of these things so hopefully like.. more usual stuff soon maybe.. to be posted #for now though yeah.. just cats #The end of the year is also when I panic about the passage of time and how little I've gotten done and how I will never actually be a #sucessful game maker slash author slash cat cafe owner slash set designer slash costume designer slash psychologist #who lives in like Scotland or somehting and also owns my own candle company or something ghbjhb #and will probably just be a mentally ill hermit recluse all my life who dies early of mysterious health issues with 5000 projects left #undone and blah blah the crushing weight of chronic illness and capitalism and so on and so forth #So then I scramble to get projects done to try and meet some goals but usually that means I scatter between projects #so it takes longer to finish all of them. Like instead of dedicating 8 hours to one thing and finishing it one sitting. I'll do 2 hours on #this then 2 hours on that then 2 hours on another things. so they all get done slower even though I'm still technically making progress on #them all. This is also a very poo poo pee pee stink brain way to work and is not like. the most efficent thing but it's just how my brain #organizes tasks sometimes lol #*** #(<ignore this its part of an OCD compulsion lol. anytime you see me type three asterisks I'm not bleeping out a curse word #it's just a Special Secret Foolish Thing I Have To Do At Specific Uncontrolable Times When Brain Says So gbjhhj) #ANYWAY... eeeee #Still haven't resolved my mystery chest injury though so being at te computer for too long is also kind of achey-inducing #Better get over it though because I have like 30+ hours of slideshow vidoe to edit hahaha hee hee hoo!!!!!

Chapter 5 Progress Update

It be Sunday. It be time for an update. Now I actually have proper things to note other than 'I'm very dumb and lazy'. Now I can say I'm very energised and crazy.

First things first, the planning is finished!

Second things second, all of the first day of the daily life has been written! And one CG has been completed! (the crowd is satisfied, giving a nod)

I'm finding it quite fun writing at the moment, so who knows? We'll have to see how long this enthusiasm lasts.

Dani slid his sleeping mask up against his forehead. He preferred these late night flights more than the ones during the day. The flights were so long; he would rather sleep through as much as he could than be stuck awake and sitting down for half a day. For football, he would do it, but he didn't like it.

He was glad his friend Jamie was so understanding when he explained his reasonings. And agreeable. And kind enough that when Dani woke up restless, with a sore back, and they still had four more hours left in the air, his friend put up the seat divider and allowed Dani to splay his legs over his lap.

His heart filled with warmth. His mama would love his friend; he knew it.

okay I think slow n steady might just be the way to go for me bc I thought I was making such tiny progress (never hit 1000 words on any given day) but my monthly goal was originally 3k and I've passed 6k now with a few days left :0

HA I'm 100% not making this camp nanowrimo goal

#I have written: 800 words so far wITH THE GOAL TO WRITE 10K?? HAHHAA #what's funny is I wrote 10k in February #about 20k in Jan #couple thousand in Dec #50k in nov #SO TELL ME WHY I'M DISAPPOINTED BY THE IDEA OF NOT HITTING THIS GOAL #listen... not making the goal doesn't make me feel sad because I'm not making the goal #makes me feel sad because idk! I love writing! I want to do that! I love living IN it #and for me living in it is soooo in the drafting process #and I feel like I've done a really... wonderful job at prioritizing writing & now I'm realizing I need to be #gentle with myself LOL #I'm moving this month after thinking I'd be moving in june #OBVIOUSLY I just finished my degree #I'll be moving into my own room (FIRST TIME EVER!! (guy with crushing medical debt, smoking in an otherwise-empty church): yeah, they move like they're not used to having a body. and, yeah, we did meet when they prophesied to my father about his death---they were right, by the way---and i'm pretty sure they see the end of the world whenever they look at me, because they keep giving me cryptic warnings about it. and yeah! i don't know anything about their personal life and they've been vague at best when i've asked! but! they are my best friend.

2023 writing reflection: starting goals

i love writing, but i would only write when i had a wave of inspiration. during the long stretches of no writing, i would grow frustrated because i wasn't doing something i enjoy. as a solution, i made a daily 200 words goal (with the allowance that between responsibilities and disabilities, i can "make up" missed days).

it fucking worked

quick summary of the graphs (full description with commentary under cut): there's a general increase of total words, adjusted higher goals as we go, quickly more writing/editing days in a month, and a generally increasing daily average (November i'd consider an outlier)

full reflection also under cut but tl;dr: i'm happy (๑˃ᴗ˂)

July was what i believe to be an almost typical month with two inspired writing sessions (3180 total words with no goal)

halfway through August is when i decided to make goals; i didn't achieve it (2637 total words out of a 3600 goal; i wrote for about 17% of August for a daily average of 165 words)

September was a "just try writing a little bit" month with no writing inspirations (6420 total words out of 6000 goal; i wrote for about 45% of September for a daily average of 214 words)

October i had several inspired writing sessions (7080 total words out of 6200 goal; i wrote for about 42% of October with a daily average of 228 words)

November i had quite a few inspired writing sessions (10,217 total words out of a 6000 word goal; i wrote for about 47% of November with a daily average of 341 words)

December was a difficult month emotionally so i have no idea how i managed to write so much; perhaps it's the habit growing from previous months (7614 total words out of 7502 goal; i wrote for about 55% of December with a daily average of 246 words)

reviewing the reflections i have in my spreadsheet, i found that an uninspired/tired writing session for 200 words takes about 30 minutes to an hour. the biggest struggle though has been actually opening my laptop to write, which i tried to make happen by attempting to write at least a little if it was already open or placing it literally in my way (i don't wanna talk about the amount of times i've accidentally stepped on my laptop thanks to that strategy)

if you read all that, i appreciate you :> may we all be able to do more of what we want to do in the coming year
