iwaizumi hajime uses wired apple headphones!!!!!!! all the time forever and ever even after bluetooth and airpods like whateverr he doesn’t care. he upgraded once from ogs to the kind that fit in your ears better and have the volume/microphone on the right wire and he never looked back. they’re more reliable he doesn’t have to remember to charge them they’re cheap for when they (inevitably) break he puts them in his pocket for two (2) seconds they come back out All Knotted Up he has to untangle them constantly but it’s #worthit. he wears them so the main wire is under his sweatshirt/jacket and only the ear pieces are out through the collar (CRUCIAL) this mostly practical so it doesn’t get caught on things (or yanked) but also looks so fjcking cool even though he doesn’t actually care. hoooollylyt shit this image is So Vivid.

flash forward i’m picturing iwaizumi hajime (27) athletic trainer making BANK he has all the newer apple products nice phone macbook pro ipad w pencil apple watch (big fitness guy) and the same shitty wired headphones he’s been using since middle school. he Will Not convert. he gets flamed by the team but he can work out and listen to music without worrying abt airpods falling out and getting crushed in the weight room by bokuto’s deadlift plates he’s WINNING he’s So Right he sacrifices sound quality for convenience he is set in his ways you can’t teach an old dog new tricks and hajime is a 2000s kid through and through

Good god SOMEONE GETS IT!!! I also hate having to remember to charge or put batteries in headphones. I want to listen to things at any given moment. I don’t wanna wait for things to charge.

List of other wired headphones plus sides-

- I cannot count how many times wired headphones have saved my phone from completely falling on the floor, and making it more shattered it is

- It helps me remember my phone since I am physically tethered to it and cant just get up from somewhere and leave it without noticing

- If you have a detachable aux cord for your phone you can connect your phone to a car without having to wait for bluetooth to load

- or you can connect your headphones to a computer without having to wait for the bluetooth options to load.

- i have personally found the audio quality of wired headphones to be better than bluetooth headphones or earbuds

- headphones in general are just more comfortable than earbuds ill die on that goddamn hill. (You also don’t have to clean earwax/skin oils off of them just sayin)

- the wired headphones I currently use have outlived every bluetooth headphone I’ve used by a few years and I’ve only had to replace the wire.

- a headphone’s wire is basically just a built in fidget toy.

The only downside I can think of for wired headphones is that they get annoying to wear if you’re running or exercising, or just generally doing something that requires a lot of movement, but I’ve adapted by just putting the cord over my shoulder and through the belt loops of my pants.

gods i love wired headphones. love having headphones with a headphone jack (and thus a replaceable cable) and no other way of playing music. love 10 foot long audio cables. love dedicated usb DACs. love headphones that are designed primarily for long-term listening comfort and don't need to have extra bulk in hinges or padding to make them more sturdy or flexible to accommodate being shoved in a bag when you're done with your commute. love high-quality audio with no perceptible delay and no fucking battery life and no extra mass from a bluetooth module and microprocessor and flashable ROM and a battery and charging circuit and onboard DAC and amp driving the speaker(s) weighing my head down.

Why do you need your earbuds to have a wire so badly?

I am assuming this is about a post I reblogged like six months ago when I went off on forced technological enshitification and the slow erosion of consumer options. But sure, I'll bite.

Why do I "need" my earbuds to have a wire? I dunno, Anon, maybe I:

Don't want to have to worry about recharging my earbuds.

Don't want my earbuds to be even easier to lose.

Don't want my earbuds to need separate accessories that are as easy to lose as the earbuds.

Prefer to have bluetooth turned off on my devices for security and safety reasons.

Like being able to seamlessly plug my earbuds into my computer, my MP3 player, or any other device with a headphone jack.

Don't want to spend 50 dollars on decent wireless earbuds when I can do all the above things with a pair of solid earbuds that cost me like $12 during the Obama administration.

Don't care about what kinds of headphones or earbuds people wear but don't like what it says about our society when other people apparently care what kind of earbuds I'm wearing so much they have send an Anonymous ask to interrogate me about it.
