Taking Out the Trash
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is essentially how I see the story going now that we’re back to Remnant. Jaune and Weiss are definitely gonna settle the score with Cinder, in a Bumbleby v Adam-esque final fight imo. A lot building up to this; Pyrrha, Cinder almost killing Weiss, Penny's sacrifice, Jaune's ongoing conflict with Cinder, the way it would really hit Cinder if Ruby didn't focus on her and goes after Salem instead, the way Cinder thinks Jaune is beneath her and is outraged over the thought that he could have killed her and on and on. Although, I wouldn't be opposed to Ruby being part of that fight.
And hey, Cinder’s already made something of a dumpster fire out of her quest for power. Really her greatest achievements seem to be the result of working with the people around her; Torchwick, Watts, Neo, Emerald and Mercury. Increasingly though, Cinder’s becoming isolated, in no small part due to herself. That's all coinciding with the show’s theme of the importance of trust and cooperation bringing about strength and the resolution of the world’s and individual’s problems. Not hard to imagine where Cinder will wind up after taking the opposite path.
I originally intended to just edit Cinder in place of Marrow in the scene where Weiss is dragging him across the room. Put a good amount of work into fixing up that background, too. But a brilliant suggestion by Mallobaude to add a dumpster in the corner of the room changed my mind, and with a change of scene and a bit more editing we gained the nice scene we see before us now. The reference scene I took the background from is just brilliant, Weiss literally throwing a racist guy in the trash.
Anyway, I thought it was a fun idea to make my own little version of that meme trend I referenced in the 1st panel, with the rest of this little comic putting a bit of a twist on it actually being Weiss who’s all set to take care of Cinder. Hope you all enjoy!

looks up. i regret to inform you all that i’ve seen another post today. the faunus woman who led vacuo during the great war was not a queen and almost certainly not of royal descent as the asturias family claims to be: it is stated repeatedly in the CFVY novels that the last time vacuo had any kings or queens was centuries ago and that very little of the historical record has been preserved (with 9.11 reiterating the novels’ point that this is a consequence of colonial occupation in the intervening centuries).
and from the world of remnant episodes pertaining to vacuo and the great war, we know that modern-day vacuo did not have a formal government until after the great war; it was not a state, it was an occupied territory under mistrali control. the faunus woman who led vacuo’s forces was the leader of the vacuan movement for independent statehood and likely became a member of the ruling council established after the war—which is now defunct and has been de facto replaced by shade academy.
please. BLEASE. the great war began about ninety years ago it has not even been a century. the vacuan monarchy is “ancient history.” finn talks about his mother—who would have been a contemporary of nicholas schnee, who was born right after the great war—and her mother, who would have lived through the great war, and his grandmother’s father, and his grandmother’s grandfather, and his grandmother’s grandfather’s mother. rumpole—who is an actual historian—flat out states that it was so long ago, and war and colonization so thoroughly degraded the historical record, that all that remains is legends and uncertain guesswork.
the asturiases having no blood relation to the faunus woman who led vacuo in the great war doesn’t prove or disprove anything because even if she did style herself a queen and claim royal descent the vacuan monarchy ended so long ago that her claim would have been unverifiable mythmaking too.

While working out yesterday I had the idea for a fic where instead of Pyrrha dying, she goes into this really suspicious coma, that leaves doctors puzzled (its magic dumdums) and this causes all the same mourning in rwby and jnr because she's basically dead? Like even the top scientist in atlas are like "lmao we don't know if she'll ever wake up, but she's still alive even when not on life support so... ???"
And the only scene that really changes is when the group is in Argus and instead of her memorial they go see her and its just as sad because she hasn't moved since the fall and like... its her! Shes there! but she really isn't. Shes gone, and not even Oz knows what magic has her under
But then after vol 9 rwbyj come back from the ever after and she's awake

before v7 the councils were pretty much a faceless antagonistic force only there to be a thorn in their respective headmaster's (who are also part of the council) side and it's very easy to fall into that line of thinking, that the rest of the council should just get out of the way bc the good guys have shit to do
but then you remember that the headmasters are, pretty much, solely responsible for their kingdoms' defenses, and we saw what they did with that even prior to v7: ozpin's methods focused on secrecy were ineffective—and sending first year students on a recon mission that they should not have been on in the first place was certainly a move, and ozpin was lucky yang didn't actually die bc at that point i feel like he would have been suspended from his position immediately instead of waiting to discuss his position after the festival—and on top of that he sends his most trusted allies away instead of getting them to secure the entrance to the vault while he goes in there with pyrrha like at this point this stinks of self-sabotage; and lionheart straight up gives information away about mistral's huntsmen and huntresses currently on mission so that hazel and tyrian can pick them off—the very same huntsmen and huntresses that were needed to protect the kingdom if what lionheart said about the grimm activity post-fall of beacon was accurate.
also atlas exists.
point being, the show has done this thing again where they obscure a very valid point—that yes, the headmasters do have too much power—by first of all having that point made by a villain, priming everyone to ignore it bc surely we're not meant to believe a villain could have A Point, and by making the rest of the council faceless and only showing how much they're obstructing the headmasters by... doing their jobs and holding the headmasters accountable.
which is to say i am side-eyeing vacuo A LOT

Since Raven was in that epilogue animatic shown at RTX, until proven otherwise I’m sticking with my little headcanon that when Raven heard about Atlas, she tried to portal to Yang and it didn’t work. And like, she will not admit she’s worried because like “blah blah the strong survive and the weak die, so if Yang wasn’t strong enough to survive she made her choice,” but she still secretly tries to open the portal once in a while. It never works, though, which almost definitely means Yang is dead.
(I have another rough headcanon that if Raven didn’t actually see Summer’s death and like ran away before it happened, maybe Raven trying to portal back only for the portal to not open is what told her Summer was gone)
Anyway one day when she’s alone a few months later she tries it again, just like out of habit, and wait, holy shit did the portal just open what the fuCK, hello???
That may be entirely off base tbh. Maybe Qrow found her and convinced her to come to Vacuo, or she already went to Vacuo on her own after learning about Atlas, or portalled to Qrow for intel and stuck around a bit, then she just spotted them while using bird mode to scope out the land or something. But the portal thing is just one of my favorite personal headcanons so I’m choosing to believe that until the show proves me wrong lol

Tbh if/when they make volume 10 and they inevitably change some things about that episode, I think they’re going to change the part about Vale going under offscreen and only a bus of people getting out. I do not vibe with that choice

Sorry, and Ruby processing inward and blaming herself is true to character, but I actually dont think she would have taken a linear path to seeing Penny’s choice and Jaune’s mercykill as rational. And certainly not so linear and collected that we didnt need to see it.
Penny offered the solution of “kill me” and was actively being corrupted in front of Ruby, and Ruby moved a literal city in the sky to save her. A huge feature of Volume 8 is saving everyone you can, even when the ‘logical’ choice tells you to make sacrifices.
She would have at least asked ONCE if there had been some other way.

So.. so originally this was supposed to be the Vacuo design for Robyn but I may have just.. redesigned them in general-
Maybe it could still work- maybe.. ok wait no this wouldn’t be great for the desert-
Some headcanons that no one asked for but getting anyways:
Robyn is two-spirited! He goes by any pronouns ^^
Robyn has natural brown hair, but they dyed it blonde bc.. idk why actually-
Robyn is Native American cause I make the rules here
if you really think about it, every relationship Robyn is in is gay-
I wanted to go for a more Robin Hood look since I didn’t exactly get much of that from her original design-
Please do not STEAL/COPY/REPOST my art!!!
