I have a few mixed feelings about Restoration, and I knew I would, as someone who has complicated feelings towards a lot of the post-S14 material. I can excuse most of the things I dislike about it by reminding myself that the real-life circumstances (fuck you, Zaslav) were absolutely a factor here. But one thing I definitely really loved was the "simulations" retcon.
The reveal that Season 15-17 were the product of Epsilon's hyper-accurate, transcendent foresight that he achieved in his final moments, and that Restoration itself could very well be just another of these simulations (via the gag about Epsilon not being sure whether he got Caboose's voice right) throws the doors wide open.
Because now, anything that happened post-13 is up in the air. Anything they made after that point could be what really happened. Anything you made after that point could be what really happened too, throwing back to VIC's speech at the end of Season 14. Epsilon ran dozens of simulations and some of them (Zero) are noted as being extremely unlikely and just there to amuse Epsilon himself, and can that label not be applied to many a fanfic?
Heck, the introduction of Epsilon's recordings and the Recovery Unit means that, if you want to bring back Church and Tex, you can, and Restoration did. If you want your "Everybody Lives" ending, it's now an entirely possible thing within the setting.
The last thing RT did with RvB was restore the ambiguity of Season 13's ending, and throw the doors wide open for us to do whatever we like with it.
If you prefer Restoration's more sombre ending, you can have that. If you prefer the Season 15-17 arc and the continued development for the Reds in particular, then hey, Restoration is just another simulation of what might've happened, and Epsilon's S15-17 simulation is the most accurate one. If you like Zero... I guess you can have that. If you still think RvB should've ended at Season 13, then none of them are accurate. Hell, if you've got a favourite fanfic that you like more than the official post-14 material, congrats, now that's your continuation.
Is Restoration perfect? No. Did it need to be? No. Am I glad we got it? Yes.
Thanks, RT. Thanks to Burnie, Monty, Miles, Joe, Jason, and everybody else that wrote, directed, voiced, animated, made music for, did anything for this funny little show about idiots in a box canyon in the middle of nowhere.

I lied I’m not going back to sleep cause I keep having thoughts-
But here’s the thing- the solace I’ve started to come to in all this and I kind of think it might have been the point Burnie was trying to make though I obviously can’t know for sure.
Everything after 13 is just simulations. Both timelines are canon and non-canon at the same time. The entire thematic point of the ending of 13 is that we don’t know what happens next- so turning everything post 13 into simulations was the perfect way to say “this is where the story ends, these are just a few of an infinite number of possibilities of what could happen next. These are the final thoughts of an AI sacrificing his life for the people he loves. But we’ll never be able to know for sure. Maybe it’s the shisno trilogy, maybe it’s restoration, maybe it’s your fanfic. But at the end all you have is your faith in these characters. Ain’t that a bitch.”
Maybe I’m just drinking that copium juice but this is the one way I’ve found that I think I can reconcile with this series ending. And if this is what Burnie intended then I’m grateful, I always said they should’ve just stopped at 13 cause that was the entire point… with this tho we still have the beauty of that thematic ending as well as a few possibilities to chew on and expand. And I can be at peace with that.

how I want V-10 to start
The camera pans down to two people standing on a Vauco wall, it’s Coco and Velvet. Velvet turns to coco slightly
Velvet:Do you ever wonder why we’re here?
Coco: It’s one of life’s greatest mysteries isn’t it? I mean is it all some sort of cosmic coincidence? Or is the story’s of the brother Gods true? Have they placed us here? I don’t know girl but it keeps me up at night.
velvet: No I mean why are we on this wall? I can’t fucking see with the sun glaring down at us.
Coco:oh uh yeah
Velvet:what was all that about the brother gods?
coco: Nothing.
Velvet: Wanna talk about it?
Coco: Nope
Cue in team RWBY causing chaos.

Anyone else just so emotionally devastated in both the best and worst way after todays episode?
Like "Do you... do you think we're gonna make it?" "Around that campfire, did it matter?" "...No" was so heart-wrenching and moving
but recontextualized to "do you think we'll be able to continue our story?" "did you enjoy the story you did make?" "yeah" as a way of saying It Was About The Journey Not The Destination has me sobbing uncontrollably

Pyrrha is the collective blorbo for CRWBY. Died eight years ago but the wound is somehow still fresh enough that every time she shows up via Illusion or Hallucination or just plain wishing she was there it gets us in the heart anew. Every Time!!!

I wasn't sure about writing this post.
Even right now, as I am writing, I still don't know if I will actually post this or just add it to my drafts as nothing more than a personal vent. Regardless, I guess that if I am here I just need to talk about this.
So let's talk.
The way the FNDM has been acting all defeated all month long has really grown to annoy me, and I am tired.
RWBY's future is unsure right now, and all this uncertainty is painful. My feelings are all over the place, swinging from terror and sadness to hope, all the time. I constantly check Kerry's and RWBY's Twitter page in hope to find any kind of news.
I can't give you a certain answer because, again, this is all uncertain. But that also means that there's still hope.
My point is, acting as if we have already lost isn't going to help anyone. Not RWBY, not CRWBY, and not ourselves, the fans who love this show so dearly.
I don't know what is going to happen, but I know that I refuse to stand around and do nothing. It's why I keep checking for news, why I am playing the show both on rooster teeth and crunchyroll all the time for views (I think that on CR I already replayed the whole series at least twice). It's why I am spamming tags, and being loud about my love, and looking and sharing all RWBY and CRWBY posts to give engagement, why I am watching every rwby_vt live on twitch.
I want to know what is going to happen more than anything, not knowing is killing me, but at same time I am terrified of the answer. Despite that, and despite my feelings swinging all around, I am still choosing to have hope.
Hope is a conscious choice, and a brave one. Because I know that being pessimistic is easier, it avoids setting us up for disappointment... but if we rob ourselves of the chance that things could turn out alright then all we're doing is decrease the chance that it will happen, and just anticipate our pain and disappointment.
As Yang said, no hope means we have already lost, and that's not the case. CRWBY, Kerry, is working really hard to save RWBY. Acting defeated already isn't just a disservice to us, but to them specifically and to everything they are currently doing. It's like telling them that it's all useless, that they've already lost, and I find that insulting. I refuse to. They deserve to see that we care and believe in them.
RWBY is THE show about hope. Shouldn't we follow the example?

Not me having some kind of prophetic vision last night about the first shot of vol 10 being like the first shot of rvb, where Coco and Fox ask "why are we here" and Coco goes into a small tirade about the brother gods, and Fox just says "No, why are we here on lookout from the city. I can't sEE" and then the shot cuts to team RWBY doing silly crap.
As a way of, ya know, a new and final nod to their og home.
Cuz I believe that Miles and Kerry wont stop fighting to make this story, as long as we keep fighting on wanting to see it
