spookyangels replied to your post "Saw this comment on Twitter tonight and I am…”
thank you for saying this I can't stand these fuckin assholes who are perfectly happy body shaming a man but oh nooo can't body shame a woman fuckin double standard bs!
I am honestly floored and flummoxed and appalled by the comments I have seen from fans yesterday and today, regarding Michael's appearance on that red carpet. In one of my previous posts, I mentioned that the suit he had on was not tailored properly, which I think is the root of the issue. But I have seen people calling AL "Barbie" and Michael "Ken," and while yes, I understand that there is a meme involved, said comments have been followed up with things like "Why is Michael just...there??" and "What has happened to your hair??" and other comments specifically (and often negatively) commenting on Michael's appearance.
Meanwhile these same fans are calling Anna a "queen" and saying she looks "so amazing" and so on, and I'm legitimately at a loss as to why Michael's appearance has to be made fun of and put down in order to praise AL's appearance. For that matter, could you imagine what would possibly happen if someone said, "Anna, what has happened to your hair? We can see your roots!" or "She looks too skinny"? People would be flipping out. Not one person would take it as a joke, and the commenter(s) would be piled on in an instant. Yet somehow, for some reason, it's completely fine to do this to Michael because he is a man.
I truly wonder what it is people hope to accomplish by leaving these comments--some of them on Anna's own Instagram post, no less. Do they think she wants to hear/read them slagging off her boyfriend's looks? Or given her own history of making snarky comments about Michael's appearance (and again, if he did that to her, he would be pilloried), maybe she doesn't mind at all. In which case, I'm not sure which one is worse/better.
The double standard extends to what we saw just a few days prior to this, with Georgia's controversial Instagram caption about Birdie being a drunken accident. Everyone was commenting about how "hilarious" it was, but again, imagine if this was coming from a man. If Michael said this about Lyra, or Mabli, it would have taken on an entirely different tone and not at all gone over well...yet somehow it's absolutely fine because Georgia is a woman.
I just hope to hell Michael does not see the comment telling him to lose weight, even though that person had the unmitigated gall to leave that in response to one of his comments, with him tagged. I hope these "fans" consider that if a relationship needs to involve one or both parties putting each other down to be "interesting," then it's not an interesting relationship at all. And I hope they realize that it is not actually cute or funny to make fun of a man's appearance or weight, even if the person doing is his significant other.

i need people who have never been anorexic or just straight up dont remember what its like for whatever reason to shut up about it forever because literally it changes the way your fucking brain works . when its really bad its literally the only thing you think about its wholly obsession literally the only thing you think about is your weight / measurements / how you look and how many calories your eating or burning and you literally cannot help but humblebrag about how your killing yourself and everyone is competition . and people act like youre just some bigot who hates fat people if you show symptoms or talk about it ever even if you were also a direct victim of fatphobia . i am not joking when i say they need to add looking at th*nspo or running an ed blog to the fucking dsm there is a reason its so widespread IT IS A SYMPTOM . and everyone acts like its just Disorder That Makes You Fatphobic and that its mental illness lite or mental illness only white cis women have when thats not even true and it is the mental illness with the highest mortality rate

saw an artist draw """"out of shape"""" gale and it was the thinnest man ive ever seen. the only lengths they went to was not drawing carved abs onto him but that was just a regular fit guy who drinks enough water. kind of fucked how warped people's perceptions of fat bodies are honestly!

i know we talk about the lengths wanda went through to bring billy and tommy back and debate whether or not they were real (they were) and the insanity that may/may not have caused in her.
but.
maybe we should also talk about the vision and how vision literally created two children for himself (viv and vin! debatable whether they were twins; they're supposed to be the same age, so i'd say they are), how when his son died he 1) intended to kill his son's murderer (for JUSTICE) and that was meant to prompt 2) vision killing everyone in the world (re: snapping and fighting the avengers over their part in the death of his son), how when his wife died (after killing their son's murderer so that vision wouldn't snap and could keep being a hero; it's complicated) he literally started rebuilding her, how when his daughter died he literally made another version of her because he could not handle his grief--
like look.
it's literally not just a wanda thing.
they're both like that.

i mean this in the best way possible: you gave me such gender envy in that second pic finn
I wanna say thank you but it's a little hard to hear, because I don't know in what way you mean that? Like I don't wanna come off as "gender" in a way that reads as someone else's ideal example of a girl for example- I know Girl is how I'll come off to most by default though 😔 so bc it's a vague statement, it's like. Idk what you mean !!!! though I know you mean it nicely, and I think it's super sweet that you went out of your way to compliment me in my inbox so i appreciate that BUT also. please dont say that to me 😭 I'm sorry anon thank you for the kindness still though it's very nice and it does make me happy in a different way still so I hope no hard feelings<3

Also I just feel like celebrities (esp ones of ariana grande’s caliber of stardom) should not be reading comments or even posting things themselves at all. Like I know I know I know people in entertainment at any level are always people pleasers who seek out positive feedback and the famous ones want to interact with their fans but at a certain point it’s just like. How on earth is that productive and helpful to you? You have attained a “that’s an assistants job to run my whole acct” level of fame and fortune quit combing thru the quote retweets!!! I’m just…!??!?

I want to thank everyone who reached out after my last post… I was really scared to say anything I’m ngl I feel like EDs are still so stigmatised (despite being basically promoted to everyone in society lmao) but your words have all meant a lot. I posted because I had a bit of a scare this evening and I’m doing my best to try and psych myself up to get to a healthier weight. I’m not ready to go all in, I hopefully someday will be able to find a professional to talk to. But to be able to get to that someday I need to try and take care of myself more… recovery the first time when I was like 15 was just ‘people are starting to notice so I’m just gonna force myself to get better so I don’t have to talk about it’ and it technically worked on a physical level but clearly the issues I have that led me there in the first place were never resolved, or rather I just assumed it was all good and dealt with and in the past. It means a lot that I could post into the void and get so many kind words from people who don’t even know me, and I cried a little reading the messages I’ve gotten. ❤️
