How'd you get into a PhD program?
here's the really short, not exhausting version of how i went about it:
I had a few years of research experience and lots of academic extracurriculars from undergrad but my GPA wasn't good. So the first time I applied, I essentially only applied to master's programs and post-bacc programs. I got into the master's programs but turned them down because I didn't wanna pay.
So, I took a year to do a post-baccalaureate research education program to prove that i could handle full time research in BME as well as other graduate level coursework & such, then reapplied only to PhD programs.
both times i applied, i cold-emailed faculty before applying and scheduled meetings with them to convey my interest and for them to get to know me before seeing my shit GPA, and both times it worked in my favor. Definitely more so in my favor the 2nd time when i got 6 PhD offers instead of 3 master's offers.
if you know about Josh Allen, the QB for the Buffalo Bills, he sent emails to THOUSANDS of recruiters while playing in junior college just to finally get an offer from University of Wyoming. And now he's the STARTING QB for an NFL team.
if you'd like me to make a post going more in depth about it, I can but it will take a few weeks since i'm swamped with school rn!!

Ruined
heyyyy look who’s back, i swear i’m going to write for Wally again soon. I just had this idea and didn’t want to write more Wally angst/didn’t know how to write this for him. So i just wrote it for Eddie instead :)
these are the songs i listened to while writing this.
Set Me Free- Joshua Basset (this song actually gave me the urge to write again but this just went a whole diffrent direction)
Traitor- Olivia Rodrigo
Homesick (and basically the entire closer to closure album)- Lexi Jayde
Tumblr media
Eddie wished he could take it back. He wish he could go back in time and stop himself from going to that stupid party without you. Stop himself from smoking a little too much, and having a bit too much to drink. He especially wishes he could stop himself from kissing Chrissy. It was a stupid mistake, he swore it. As soon as he realized what he did he ran to your place. He had to tell you no matter the consequences.
You have been studying all night for this stupid calculus exam that you had next Monday. That you didn’t even hear or notice Eddie tapping on your window until he started calling your name. Why was he here? He told you he was going to go to some party to try selling for a few hours. He asked if he could come over after, but you told him it would be too late. Besides you had to study. Walking over to your window to let him in you noticed he looked distraught, normally he would watch you walk over. Right now though he was avoiding your eyes, finding your roof more interesting. Opening your window Eddie practically falls through it, clearly a bit drunk. “Whoa baby how much did you have to drink tonight”, chuckling you grab onto his shoulders leading him to your bed, sitting him down on it. “Baby I’m so sorry, I- I didn’t mean to.”, grabbing onto your shirt and pulling you close Eddie hides his face in it, taking in the scent of your shirt. The scent of you for what he fears will be the last time. What did he mean he didn’t mean to? What the hell did he do. “Eddie what happened?”. Finally he pulls away from you, looking up at you with those big brown eyes. Eyes that were normally filled with such admiration and love were now filled with tears and guilt. “Baby i swear i didn’t-“, just by the tone of his voice you could tell he fucked up beyond repair. Feeling your heart sink to the soles of your feet. You take several steps back, leaning against your dresser bracing for impact, “Just tell me what happened Eddie.”. Gulping he looks anywhere else before he finally says it,“I kissed someone else, I kissed Chrissy.”
You were sure someone just thrusted a dagger into your chest. There was no way, no way your boyfriend of a year kissed someone else. Kissed fucking Chrissy Cunningham, you knew he sold to her sometimes but you didn’t think they KNEW each other. Not enough for him to cheat with her anyways.“What the fuck, what do you mean you kissed Chrissy?!”. Your entire body went tense and cold. You felt like you were just transported to the fucking Tundra. Getting up Eddie try’s to walk over to you. Thinking if he could hold you maybe he can fix this. Maybe there was still hope. But you just held both your arms out to keep him from you. The last thing you needed wanted was to have him near you. Fearing that if he got his hands onto you, you would just fall into him.“You need to leave, like right now. We’re done Eddie.”. If you weren’t in your current situation you would feel bad for him, your heart would break for him. “Baby please just let me-“, he try’s again to get close to you. However you just stood your ground, you couldn’t be weak, “ I asked you to leave. I don’t need an explanation. This isn’t a fucking movie Eddie you don’t get to come here saying you committed the worst offense possible and expect me to let you talk, to fucking explain!!” You start walking towards him, leading him towards to the window. You could tell he wanted to say something, but if you let him say another word you swear you were going to throw him off your roof. “The window is right behind you, you know how to use it.”, turning your back on him, you walk into your adjoining bathroom and slam the door, waiting to hear the clicking of your window confirming that he left.
How. Could. He, how could he waste your time. You spent a whole year on him. You gave him your all, and what he just throws it away?! He ruined everything while you were at home unassuming. No. No you refuse to let him ruin you. If anything you were going to ruin him. Standing there in your bathroom you started ahead plotting ways to ruin Eddie Munsons life. He was going to regret ever meeting you, ever falling for you, kissing you, going to that stupid fucking party.
ok that’s it :) yes there will be a part two (i actually have no idea.i might be lying to you)

jealousy. ( mac morris x reader )
Tumblr media
gif belongs to me
You were standing at your locker with Lexi and Daisy as they discussed the Valley students that had the entire school talking. You had grown tired of hearing about the Valley students and didn't partake in the rivalry unlike your boyfriend Mac who approached the three of you with his eyes gleaming in mischief.
"What did you do?" You asked knowingly.
"Why do you assume the worst of me?" He feigned hurt expression, placing a hand on his chest.
You playfully rolled your eyes, closing your locker and holding your textbooks to your chest. "Because I know you, Mac Morris. You've always got something going on." You looked at the three with a sigh, "I'm sure that this rivalry is just blown of out proportion. We should try to be kind to them. Not glare or scowl at them whenever they enter a room."
The three shared looks and you sighed knowing it was pointless. Mac placed a hand on your shoulder, "You're sweet. But this is war."
"They're evil." Lexi added in agreement.
Later that day you were touching up your lipgloss using the mirror in your locker when a boy from the Valley team approached you. Seeing it as an opportunity to build a bridge, you agreed to meet him after class to hang out which took minutes to reach Mac's ears.
"You talked to one of them?" He whispered during class, leaning over slightly as you wrote down notes. "A guy from the team?"
"It's not like that. I'm trying to build a village, or a bridge." You told him.
"A what? Nevermind. Trust me, as a guy, that's exactly what this is. He's tainting you with his Valley...ness." Mac gestured with his hand wildly, and you looked at him, placing your pen down.
"He knows we're dating. He said and I quote, 'You're with that blond kid, aren't you?'. And I said 'yes'. So it's just as friends."
"Friends with the enemy." Mac emphasised. You sent him a flat look and he sighed. His argument wasn't completely out of jealousy, as he knew you weren't into the whole rivalry thing but he was also worried you were going to get hurt. "I know you have good intentions but they tore up a stuffed tiger, okay? They're savages."
"I'm still going."
Mac sighed, holding up his hands in defeat. But you knew he would be watching over you later.
And when later came you were relieved he was as the boy tried to kiss you unexpectedly and you jumped out of your seat, backing up. "Whoa! Whoa! No! This is not happening."
The boy stood up, "I really like you. And I think you like me too."
"No, I don't. And I have a boyfriend." You reminded him with a glare.
"You could do way better than some kid from Bayside." He said with a chuckle.
"I'm from Bayside. And I'm proud of it. And as for Mac, as much as I hate to admit it, he was right about you. I should've listened."
"I got it!" Said blond approached with a grin, holding a recording of you admitting he was right.
You sent him an exasperated look. "Really?"
"What? I might need it in twenty years." His expression hardened as he looked at the Valley boy when he spoke.
"She is way out of your league." He turned to you. "If you ever decide you want to get an upgrade. Hit me up."
"Oh, I'll hit you." You grabbed Mac's arm when he stepped forward, pulling him away.
The Valley boy laughed, "Really? Fine. Let go. Right now." He pushed Mac who clenched his jaw, and handed you his cassette player. From there it was anarchy. The two punched, shoved each other onto tables and with a little help from Jamie who had been sitting with Lexi and Daisy, you managed to separate them and the Valley boy left immediately after.
Mac adjusted his sweater, and you looked at the mess with regret knowing it was partly your fault. You joined Lexi's table and Mac sat across from you.
As Jamie and Mac talked about the fight, you put your head on your arms and groaned. "I'm an idiot."
"You were building bridges." Mac spoke up, and you lifted your head to meet his gaze. "Or a village. Whatever that means."
"I can't believe you got into a fight."
"It was bound to happen." He said. "Let me listen to it again." He smiled as you handed him his tape, and a smile formed on your lips when he kept replying it over and over.
"You're lucky I love you." You sighed.
Mac merely smiled in return, "I know.'
"Thank you for being weird and watching me."
Instead of replying Mac placed the tape with your voice admitting he was right and you rolled your eyes, crossing your arms as he laughed.
"This will never get old."

Marine: Ok byeee, sis!!

Lexi: Excuse me sir, you just knocked to me and thinking that you can easily say sorry to me? What type of person are you, girl?
Maria: It is true I just got knocked to you and I didn’t see what’s coming to me. As it was my first day of school in here. Don’t blame me, I get lost here. And who the hell are you talking to me like that?
Lexi: Whoa chill girl, what did you say? And who give the f**k it’s your 1st day of school here. And listen here if you tryna mess up with me again, I will mess up with you badly.
As I heard what the girl say to me and then I saw her hands pushing me and then walk away off just like that thinking like it is nothing happen. And then everyone around me saw what’s happening and then carry on with their own stuffs. And yes, no ones deserves to help me or stand up for me.
I just wanna walk out from here and then I went to the toilet and wash up my face with water. I am thinking who the hell is that girl talking to me like that. Like she rule in this school. So I quickly cool myself down and then I check back my locker number is 168 and then I quickly went off from toilet and find my locker number.
Maria: Oh yes! I found it!!! Damn these school it’s so hard to find my locker! Okay all I have is to open up this locker. But wtf how???
As I wanted to open my locker I heard a bell ring, and I saw everyone are running to the class and some are walking to classes. And i am here stuck with my locker. I try to open it and it can’t. I guess I have to bring all my stuffs to the class instead.
Maria: Damn this bag and heavy books! I quickly walk out and search my classes and I lost again my way and in the end I get to find it. I look at my watch I see it’s 9.15am my class starts at 9am and I am really late already. Seriously on my first day!! Geez!!
As I found my class already. I walk inside I see everyone staring at me and then the teacher looking at me and he ask.
Mr Smith: Hello morning, are you late for class? It’s look like you the only person is late here and everybody get here on time. May I ask what’s your name again?
Maria: Hi morning, I’m sorry for coming late to class today my 1st day in school and I got lost the way here to find my class. My name is Maria. Nice to meet you all.

A Tale Of Three Dojos (Cobra Kai story): Chapter 3
Mr. Palmer was giving Kenny and his classmates a tour of West Valley High.
“As you can see, the West Valley High campus is a lot larger than the middle school, and when you become a freshman next year, you'll have access to some amazing facilities. Our science lab is state-of-the-art. Well, at least it was.” Mr. Palmer said.
“Did it get destroyed in the fight?” One of Kenny’s classmates asked.
“Uh...No. The district required us to remove anything that could potentially be used as a weapon in the event of another karate incident. Um…The cafeteria is this way. There actually was a fight there, so it got ruined, but...” Mr. Palmer trailed off.
“Hey, new kid, what do you think?” Lia asked Kenny.
“Me? What?” Kenny asked.
“The high school? I heard it's haunted. Do you think that's true?” Lia asked.
“Oh! Oh, definitely. Yeah. Uh…Actually, I died five years ago.” Kenny said.
Lia chuckled. “Well, ghost boy, you have strawberry on your snake shirt.”
“You've been letting me walk around like this?” Kenny asked.
“At first, I thought it was part of the evil-looking design, then I realized you're just a slob.” Lia said.
“Oh.” Kenny said.
“Don't worry, though. Nobody else can see you, right?” Lia asked.
Kenny walked into the bathroom and began to clean himself up.
Bert and Nathaniel entered the bathroom.
“I'm telling you, we had a moment.” Nathaniel said.
“Bullshit. No way is Lexi DiMarco going out with you. She's a junior.” Bert said.
“I know. She's a total J.I.L.F.” Nathaniel said.
“What's that?” Bert asked.
“J.I.L.F. Junior I'd like to...” Nathaniel trailed off.
Bert and Nathaniel noticed Kenny.
“Whoa! It looks like someone's a little lost.” Bert said.
“Yeah. What makes you think you can wear a shirt like that here?” Nathaniel asked.
“It...It's from my dojo.” Kenny said.
Bert laughed. “Maybe they started a kindergarten class.”
Nathaniel laughed. “Or a nursery.”
Kenny was reminded of Kyler. He was about to attack Bert and Nathaniel, but Hawk pinned him to a stall door.
“Thinking about striking first, huh?” Hawk asked.
“Yeah.” Kenny said.
“Word of advice, kid. Get out of Cobra Kai while you still can, ‘cause they're about to go down, and it's not going to be pretty.” Hawk said.
Hawk let go of Kenny.
Hawk walked away. Nathaniel followed him.
Bert intentionally bumped Kenny’s shoulder with his own shoulder as he walked away.
Bert laughed. “Weako. I think he's going to cry!”
At the Miyagi-Do dojo, Miguel led the Eagle Fang students alongside Daniel. Although he tried to focus on training the Miyagi-Do students, Johnny could not help being distracted by Miguel's interactions with Daniel, leading him to drop his guard and allow Demetri to kick him in the face. In retaliation, Johnny bound Demetri with duct tape and a couch cushion and made him act as a punching bag for the rest of the students. Hoping to reconnect with Miguel, Johnny invited him over for dinner after training. Miguel told him that he and Daniel were going to finish Carmen’s car. Upon hearing Miguel address Daniel as "Sensei", Johnny looked resentful.
Kyler and his fellow Cobra Kai students were in their dojo.
“Yo, guys, my boy Rory got some free tickets to the drive-in tonight. They're going old-school. Something called Bloodsport.” Kyler said.
“I know that movie. My dad left an old VHS at our place. It was the only evidence I had that he existed.” Robby said.
Kyler spoke. “I heard it's dope, so if you guys are in, let's do this.”
“Depends on how late I have to work tonight. My new boss put me on the schedule for today. Guy’s a total creep.” Tory said.
“You got a new job? Where?” Robby asked.
“It’s none of your business.” Tory snapped.
Kenny entered the dojo.
“Look who made it.” Kyler teased.
Robby noticed that Kenny was upset.
“What's up?” Robby asked.
“I was at the high school yesterday, and these older kids started messing with me. One guy told me I should quit Cobra Kai.” Kenny said.
“Who was he?” Robby asked.
“I don't know. He had spiky red hair.” Kenny said.
Tory spoke. “We still owe that Judas some payback.”
Kyler spoke. “Hell yeah.”
Kreese and Terry appeared.
“Everyone, fall in.” Kreese ordered.
The Cobra Kai students formed a line.
“As you know, our enemies are working together. They are combining their styles to beat us, but they are destined to fail, because there is only one way, and what is that way?” Kreese asked.
“The Way of the Fist, sir!” The Cobra Kai students yelled.
Kreese spoke. “Exactly. However, that doesn't mean that we can't double down. Class, meet Sensei Terry Silver, co-founder of Cobra Kai and one of the most ferocious fighters in the history of the sport. Together, we built Cobra Kai from the ground up, and now he is here to help you prepare for the All-Valley.”
Terry spoke. “Thank you, Sensei Kreese. It's an honour to be here. With two senseis, you will receive twice the instruction. That means twice the work. If you are not prepared to put in 200 percent, you can leave right now, but if you dig in and follow our lead, we're going to take you to the next level.”
After spending the night with Carmen, Johnny found himself too distracted by Miguel and Daniel to make love to her.
“Maybe you're just tired.” Carmen said.
“I swear, this has never, ever happened to me.” Johnny said.
Carmen’s fingertips slowly moved up Johnny’s arm. “Of course not. You know, working at the hospital, I do have access to certain…Medications.”
“What? I don't need pills! I'm 100 percent all man.” Johnny said.
“Okay, then. What is it?” Carmen asked.
“I just can't get LaRusso and Miguel out of my head. They spend all this time together working out, fixing your car.” Johnny said.
Carmen put her head on Johnny’s chest.
“Yes, but Miguel spending all that time over there has given us a chance to spend more time together.” Carmen said.
“Did you know LaRusso showed Miguel Top Gun?” Johnny asked.
“Oof, I love that movie. Tom Cruise is so handsome.” Carmen said.
“Cruise is the worst in that. Here you’ve got the real deal, Iceman, best of the best, abs for days. In comes this new guy, total dweeb, calls himself a maverick. You can't call yourself a maverick. Guy didn't even earn a spot at Miramar. Got his wingman killed too. Not cool.” Johnny said.
Carmen chuckled. “Okay. This is not about Tom Cruise. This is about Miguel. Maybe it's time we tell him about us.”
“I don't know.” Johnny said.
“I feel guilty sneaking around. It's not good to carry secrets like this. They wear you down.” Carmen said.
“What if it just makes things worse?” Johnny asked.
“Miggy loves you. How could it make things worse?” Carmen asked.
“Kids can be weird about that kind of stuff.” Johnny said.
“How about this? You can tell him when you're ready, but I know it will make you feel better.” Carmen said.
Johnny sighed.
Daniel and Miguel were working on Carmen’s car.
“I never thought I'd know so much about alternators and power steering pumps.” Miguel said.
“I'm sorry you had to give up a Saturday to work on a car.” Daniel said.
“Uh…It's okay. My mom will be happy. She can go out on dates again.” Miguel said.
Daniel chuckled.
“Maybe we shouldn't have fixed it.” Miguel said.
“I can relate to that. My mom used to call it ‘lunch with a friend’. I hated that. One time, I caught her on a date with Mr. Harris, my history teacher. That was…Um…Talk about awkward.” Daniel said.
Miguel chuckled.
“He gave me an A, though, so there's an upside.” Daniel said.
Daniel and Miguel finished working on the car.
“All right, this looks good. Now, it's the moment of truth. Get in. Give it a try.” Daniel told Miguel.
“All right.” Miguel said.
Miguel got in the driver’s seat.
“Let's see.” Miguel put his hands on the steering wheel.
“Just start it up?” Miguel asked.
Daniel nodded. “Start it up.”
Miguel put the key in the ignition, then the engine revved.
Miguel smiled. “Oh, success!”
Daniel smiled. “Look at that! You're a natural.”
Daniel got in the passenger’s seat.
“Now, we’ve got to get to a party and meet Amanda and Sam. I'm running late. Let's go.” Daniel told Miguel.
“What? I don't know how to drive a car.” Miguel said.
“Well, then I suggest you back us out nice and slow.” Daniel said.
“Okay.” Miguel said.
Miguel put his seatbelt on.
Daniel put his seatbelt on.
Miguel began to back the car up.
“You’re doing great.” Daniel said.
The engine squealed.
Daniel cringed. “Oh, nope.”
The party was in full swing.
Sam was standing next to Amanda.
“Did I really have to come?” Sam complained.
“Sheila has worked for us for ten years. She's practically family. Anyway, you used to love to babysit Cindee.” Amanda said.
Amanda smiled and waved at someone. “Oh, hi!”
“This is just about the last place I'd like to be spending my Saturday.” Sam said.
“A lot of people have it worse than you.” Amanda said.
Tory and some other girls walked onto the stage. They were dressed as mermaids.
Sam smiled. “Did I say the last place I want to spend my Saturday? I meant the first.”
Miguel and Daniel were on their way to the party.
The song Sailing by Christopher Cross was playing on the radio. Daniel was singing along.
“This is pretty smooth. Who is this?” Miguel asked.
“That’s Christopher Cross. He was huge in the 80’s.” Daniel said.
“Sensei Lawrence didn't tell me about him.” Miguel said.
“Not everything from the 80’s was hard rock. There were some soft rock songs that were just perfect. Michael McDonald, Billy Joel, Chicago…” Daniel trailed off.
“Who’s Chicago?” Miguel asked.
“I'm going to pretend you didn't say that.” Daniel said.
Daniel noticed a yellow light. “Oh, it’s a yellow light.”
Miguel sped up.
“When you see a yellow light, you're supposed to slow down.” Daniel told Miguel.
“Uh…Sorry. Usually, with Sensei Lawrence, we kind of…” Miguel trailed off.
“It doesn't matter what he does. If you're driving with my daughter, you take the extra precautions.” Daniel told Miguel.
“Uh…Yes. You're right. I'm sorry.” Miguel said.
“I was pretty shaky at first too. Most of the kids my age had their dads teach them. But for me…Well, luckily, I met Mr. Miyagi. He made me realize that just because I didn't have a dad didn't mean there wasn't someone who could fill that role.” Daniel said.
“The sad part is I have a dad.” Miguel said.
“You ever see him?” Daniel asked.
“I don't know much about him. He got caught up with something illegal. My mom was pregnant and tried to get him to stop, and he wouldn't. That's why Mom and Yaya moved up here. I looked him up. It says he lives in Mexico now. I haven't told my mom, though. She gets mad whenever I bring him up.” Miguel said.
“Miguel, I hated my mom for moving us to L.A. I thought she was only thinking for herself, but as I got older, I realized she was doing it all for me. She wasn't just looking for a new career. She was looking for a better life. Sounds like that's what your mom did. It may not seem brave, but sometimes, avoiding conflict is one of the most heroic things a person can do.” Daniel said.
Taking Daniel’s words to heart, Miguel came to a stop at the next yellow light.
At the party, Tory was telling a story to the children. “The prince did everything to climb the mountain, but the dragon carried me there so he could eat me alive. But then the valiant prince came to my rescue.”
“Is that the prince that you stole from another princess?” Sam asked.
Tory glared at Sam. “The other princess wasn't dating that prince anymore.”
Tory smiled at the children. “Anyway…Uh…The dragon breathed hot fire at the prince, melting his sword, so now I had to save the prince.”
“Using what? A weapon like…I don't know…A spiked bracelet or nunchucks?” Sam asked.
“No. By singing a magic song.” Tory said.
“Oh? And how did the song go?” Sam asked.
“Sing us the song!” A child yelled.
“Yeah! Song!” Another child yelled.
Tory sang. “Beautiful dragon, please go to sleep. Sunset is falling. Now, time to count sheep.”
Sam chuckled. “Wow. And I thought you were bad at fighting.”
“But the story doesn't end there. You see, the song didn't put the dragon to sleep. Instead, it turned it into an evil witch. That witch has been spotted at kids' parties all over the Valley, and the only way she can be destroyed is with a glitter bomb. Look! There she is now, trying to blend in with the crowd!” Tory pointed at Sam.
The children threw glitter at Sam.
“Die, evil witch!” A child yelled.
Sam was furious.
Amanda was shocked.
Daniel and Miguel arrived at the party.
Daniel spoke. “You did a nice job behind the wheel. I say after the party, we have a little cake, hit the DMV, and pick up your license.”
Miguel smiled. “Okay.”
Daniel approached Amanda. “Hey, honey. Sorry I'm late.”
Miguel walked up to Sam.
“Interesting…Uh…Choice. You going for the…Uh…Disco ball look?” Miguel asked.
Sam chuckled and kissed Miguel.
Tory walked towards the door. She looked angry.
“Hey! No breaks!” Tory’s boss yelled.
Once Tory was out of the building, she took off her wig and threw it in a nearby trash can.
“Tory, wait!” Amanda yelled as she chased Tory.
Tory turned around.
“What do you want?” Tory asked.
“I'm sorry about Sam.” Amanda said.
“Tell that to her.” Tory snapped.
“I will. But you can't fault her for having issues with you after what you did. Look, I know the situation with your mom is tough…” Amanda trailed off.
“No, you don't know, so why don't you just stay out of it?” Tory snapped.
“Okay. I will. Just...Just know that the world isn't out to get you. There has got to be someone in your family who can help.” Amanda said.
“No one I can trust. But it doesn't matter. I can handle my own shit.” Tory said.
“Fine. No one can help you if you don't let them. If you ask, you might be surprised.” Amanda said.
Amanda walked away.
At the Cobra Kai dojo, Robby helped Kenny work on his combos. Kenny bragged that he already knew all the moves. Robby dropped the pads and swept Kenny’s legs out from under him. Robby shared a Miyagi-Do lesson about balance, which Terry overheard. Agreeing that balance was crucial, Terry asked Kenny to give him a moment alone with Robby. Terry and Robby engaged in a sparring match that Terry easily won.
“You've learned to channel your anger, but you're afraid.” Terry said.
“I'm not afraid of anything.” Robby said.
“You lying to me or yourself? If you want to be a champion, you need to dig out that fear and face it, whatever it is, because if you don't, it's going to hold you back forever. Understood?” Terry asked.
“Yes, Sensei.” Robby said.
“Good.” Terry said.
While Sarah and Hawk were on a double date with Demetri and Yasmine at the movie theatre, Johnny reminisced over photos of Miguel on Facebook and tried to figure out how to tell him that he was dating Carmen. After an ill-fated web search, he remembered the day his mother told him that she was dating Sid. He scowled at the memory and told himself that he would do better with Miguel. As he was making dinner, he heard a knock on the door. He opened the door and saw Robby.
“Hey, Robby. What's going on? You want to come in?” Johnny asked.
“Hawk and some of your other students have been bullying this kid. Tell them to stop, or there will be payback.” Robby told Johnny.
“Payback? What the hell is Kreese putting you up to?” Johnny asked.
“He's not putting me up to anything. I'm trying to help this kid. If those assholes don't knock it off, I'll do what I have to.” Robby said.
“Don't do anything stupid. You already got kicked out of school.” Johnny said.
“Miguel attacked me. I was trying to stop the fight. He escalated it.” Robby said.
“Look, I wasn't there, all right? But I do know about Cobra Kai. Kreese is brainwashing you, just like he brainwashed me.” Johnny said.
“See, that's the difference between you and me. You put all your trust in Kreese. I don't trust anyone anymore. I'm just using Cobra Kai to get what I want.” Robby said.
“I'm sure you think that, but you're playing with poison. You don't know the whole story.” Johnny said.
“I know enough. And I know what has been holding me back. For as long as I can remember, I've been afraid that I would end up like you. But I'm not going to have that fear again, because I'm better than you.” Robby said.
“There's nothing left to talk about, so unless there's something else, I have dinner to make.” Johnny said.
Robby left.
Johnny set the table and walked out of his apartment. He saw Miguel.
“Hey, Miguel. Want to come over for a bite? There’s something I've been wanting to talk about.” Johnny said.
“Uh…Yeah, sure. I just had an early dinner with the LaRussos, though.” Miguel said.
“Oh.” Johnny said.
“Yeah. We went to this place called Katsuya. Mr. LaRusso is friends with the chef, so he brought out all this fresh fish. It was so good. Uh…But I'm stuffed. I have to get ready. I have this thing with Sam later, so...” Miguel trailed off.
“It seems you've been spending a lot of time with LaRusso lately.” Johnny said.
Miguel smiled. “Yeah, I guess. I mean, he paid for my mom's car, showed me how to fix an engine. Today, he taught me how to drive!”
Johnny looked upset. “He did what?”
“I drove down Ventura with him. It was so great. How come you haven't told me about Chicago?” Miguel asked.
“What happened in Chicago?” Johnny asked.
Miguel chuckled. “No. The band.”
“You know…Uh…You're the Inspiration, Glory of Love. Peter Cetera is badass.” Miguel said.
“Peter Cetera is the opposite of badass. What happened to Scorpions? Slaughter? Just out the window?” Johnny asked.
“No. Uh…They're cool too. It's just different, that’s all.” Miguel said.
“Yeah. Very different.” Johnny said.
Miguel sighed. “Okay. Look, what did you want to talk about?”
“Oh, nothing. Do your thing.” Johnny told Miguel.
“Okay. But hey…Look, let’s do dinner tomorrow. You can make those manwiches.” Miguel said.
“Oh, yeah. Sure.” Johnny said.
“Okay.” Miguel smiled and walked into his apartment.
Kyler and his fellow Cobra Kai students were at the drive-in.
“Hey, I'm feeling this movie, man. This Jean-Claude Van...Damn! Right in the nuts! Ha! Oh, man!” Kyler yelled.
Tory was looking out the window blankly, thinking about her day.
“Not into the movie?” Robby asked.
“Oh, it's fine. I just had a shitty day.” Tory said.
“I'd ask, but it's none of my business.” Robby said.
Tory smiled at Robby. He smiled back at her.
Kenny approached Kyler’s Jeep.
Kenny handed some of the other Cobra Kai students their snacks. “Here's your stuff.”
“Hey, yo, bitch boy, what about mine?” Kyler asked.
“You said you didn't want anything.” Kenny said.
“I want some now. Get me two buckets of popcorn with butter, four large Cokes, two hot dogs with mustard, no ketchup, and a pretzel.” Kyler told Kenny.
“But I can't carry...” Kenny trailed off.
“And some nachos with extra cheese and jalapeño poppers, all right? Hurry up, man.” Kyler told Kenny.
“Hey. Don't worry about him. Hazing the new guy. It's a good thing.” Robby said.
“It is?” Kenny asked.
“Yes. Trust me, it's a lot less dangerous than what I had to do. Just keep your head up. You'll earn respect. Got it? And…Um…Get me a Butterfinger.” Robby told Kenny.
Kenny walked away.
Nathaniel and Bert walked towards the concession stand.
“So, Lexi wants me to send pictures now.” Nathaniel said.
“Dude, I think you're being catfished.” Bert said.
“That's a risk I'm willing to take.” Nathaniel said.
“Not these guys again,” Kenny muttered when he saw Nathaniel and Bert.
Kenny tried to avoid Nathaniel and Bert, only to collide with Hawk, which knocked the food out of his hands.
Hawk spoke. “Damn. That sucks.”
“I’m sorry!” Kenny yelled.
Robby looked out the window.
"That piece of shit,” Robby muttered.
Robby got out of the Jeep and made his way towards Hawk.
Hawk spoke. "You should watch where you're going, kid."
Robby stepped in front of Kenny.
Robby spoke. “Same goes for you.”
Hawk smirked at Robby. “Look who it is.”
Nathaniel glared at Robby. “You betrayed Miyagi-Do. Traitor!”
The rest of the Cobra Kai students walked up to Hawk.
Tory glared at Hawk. “Oh, there's a traitor here for sure, and he’s going to get what he deserves.”
Sarah, Miguel, Sam, Chris, and Mitch walked up to Hawk.
Sarah was wearing an unzipped red cotton jacket, a white t-shirt, dark blue denim jeans, and red low-top Vans sneakers with white laces. Her naturally straight blonde hair was down. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour.
Sam glared at Tory. “I don’t think so. Not if I have anything to say about it, princess.”
Demetri walked towards Sarah, Miguel, Sam, Chris, Mitch, Bert, and Nathaniel. He was holding two cups. "Hey, guys. Can you believe that they have Mr. Pibb and Dr. Pepper?”
Sarah, Miguel, Hawk, Chris, Bert, Sam, Mitch, Nathaniel, Robby, Tory, and Kyler glared at Demetri.
"Oh, shit. Not another rumble,” Demetri groaned.
"Careful, LaRusso. Your mommy isn't here to play peacemaker." Tory threatened.
Sam frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Miguel spoke. "Guys, stop. We can't do this. We’ll beat ‘em on the mat.”
“Oh, really? You remember what happened the last time we fought, right?” Robby asked.
“Okay. Meet us at the baseball diamond in 30 minutes. And no weapons.” Miguel told the Cobra Kai students.
Tory spoke. “We won’t need them.”
The Cobra Kai students walked away.
The Cobra Kai students arrived at the baseball diamond.
"You guys see anything?" Kyler asked.
"They'll be here." Robby said.
"They’d better be." Tory said.
The lights shut off, then the sprinklers turned on.
“Whoa!” Kyler yelled.
Hawk was in the driver’s seat of his car. Sarah was in the passenger’s seat. Miguel, Sam, and Demetri were in the backseat.
Hawk laughed. “Dude, genius move! We didn’t even have to throw a punch!”
“My favourite kind of victory.” Demetri said.
“We can't let them get away with this!” Kyler yelled.
Robby spoke. “We won’t.”
Kyler spoke. “We’ve got to hit 'em back with a home invasion. They hit us with a sprinkler?”
Tory spoke. “This is total bullshit. Just shut up and let us deal with it.”
The next day, Kreese and Terry were in Kreese’s office.
Kreese spoke. “Now you see what we're dealing with. As long as LaRusso and Lawrence are together, our students have a target on their backs. We have to strike back.”
Terry spoke. “No. I agreed to come back to do what we originally set out to do. To turn kids into winners. To bring Cobra Kai back to its former glory. But if we're going to do that, we have to learn from our mistakes.”
“What mistakes?” Kreese asked.
“You had the entire Valley in the palm of your hand, and you blew it, all because of the rivalry you had with Miyagi.” Terry said.
“He attacked my students. You weren't there. I'll never forget that morning when Johnny Lawrence, my champion, came into the dojo with a black eye. And his confidence? Shattered. I wasn't going let that old man get away with that.” Kreese said.
“I understand, but now we're the old men, and we should use the wisdom we've learned. Cobra Kai was never about revenge. It was about building strength by taking your fears and turning them into a weapon. That's what we should be focused on. If we're just going to rehash the past, history will just repeat itself all over again.” Terry said.
“So, you're saying after they humiliated our students, we just stand down and do nothing?” Kreese asked.
“I didn't say we'd do nothing.” Terry said.
The Miyagi-Do students and the Eagle Fang students were in Daniel’s backyard.
"Henceforth, Miguel Diaz shall be known as The Rainmaker!" Demetri yelled.
“El Diablo de la Lluvia!” Hawk yelled.
“If they hadn't fallen for it, we would have beaten them.” Sam said.
“Maybe, but it could have gone badly.” Sarah said.
Sarah was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, black leggings, and red high-top Adidas sneakers with black laces. Her naturally straight blonde hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She had on a light amount of black eyeliner, a light amount of black mascara, and soft brown eyeshadow. Her lip balm was a pretty peach colour.
Johnny walked into the backyard.
“What could have gone badly?” Johnny asked.
“We were about to get into a gnarly fight at the drive-in, but Miguel saved the day.” Hawk said.
“Oh, yeah? How’d you do that?” Johnny asked.
"Told the Cobra Kais to go to the baseball diamond. Just in time for the grass to get watered." Miguel said.
"So, you picked a fight, you didn't show up, and then you doused them with a hose?" Johnny asked.
“It was a sprinkler.” Demetri said.
Johnny glared at Demetri.
Demetri froze. “I’ll go back to saying nothing.”
"You just poked the bear. What do you think is going to happen? They’re just going to leave well alone?" Johnny asked.
Daniel walked into the backyard.
Daniel looked at Johnny. “From everything I heard, it sounds to me like Miguel practiced restraint. Found a way to get out of a bad situation without anyone getting hurt. What did you want him to do? Get into a drive-in switchblade fight?”
Daniel turned to Miguel. “I'm proud of you. You've taken Miyagi-Do teachings to heart.”
“Okay, LaRusso, we need to have a little talk.” Johnny told Daniel.
Kreese and Terry walked into the backyard.
Daniel’s eyes widened. "What the..."
Terry smirked at Daniel, walking towards him as Kreese trailed behind. "Gentlemen. It seems we have a few things to discuss."
"Kids, go inside." Daniel ordered.
The Miyagi-Do students and the Eagle Fang students made their way to the interior dojo. They gathered around the door. Sarah opened the door so that everyone would be able to hear Daniel’s conversation with Terry.
"Daniel LaRusso. It's nice to see you again." Terry said.
"Yeah, right. Bullshit." Daniel snapped.
“Fair enough. I'd probably react the same way if I were you. My past behavior was inexcusable. If I could go back and undo it all, I would. All I can say now is I'm truly sorry. And I assure you, I'm not that man anymore.” Terry pressed his hand to his chest.
“I don't know what padded room you crawled out of, Silver, or what twisted game you two are playing, but if you don't get off my property right now, I swear to God...” Daniel trailed off.
“Your dad is pissed. Who is that guy?” Miguel asked Sam.
“I have no idea.” Sam said.
“He looks like a Highlander.” Bert said.
“The Highlander. There can be only one.” Nathaniel said.
Terry spoke. "Okay. I tried. We'll still hold our students to a moratorium on fighting before the tournament, for what it's worth. Provided, of course, you do the same.”
Kreese spoke. “Just remember our deal. If Cobra Kai wins the All-Valley, you two are done teaching. For good."
“That's not going to happen, 'cause you're not going to win. Now, get the hell out of here.” Daniel ordered.
Terry walked away.
"Has it really come down to this? Johnny Lawrence playing second fiddle to little Danny LaRusso?" Kreese asked.
"No one's second fiddle. This is my dojo as much as it is his." Johnny said.
Kreese smirked. "Really? The sign out front says Miyagi-Do."
Johnny glared at Kreese. "Unless you want it crammed up your ass sideways, you’d better take off after your bridge partner."
Kreese chuckled as he walked away.
“Who the hell was that?” Johnny asked Daniel.
Kreese and Terry arrived at the Cobra Kai dojo.
“LaRusso can sure hold a grudge, can't he?” Terry asked.
“So, what now?” Kreese asked.
“Now, we get to work so we can wipe the mat with that arrogant little prick.” Terry responded.
Kreese and Terry entered the dojo.
Robby and his fellow students were warming up.
Robby spoke to Tory. “They know you and I are the biggest threat. They also know we can't risk violating probation. We need to get them somewhere no one is around.”
“Listen up. Gather around.” Terry told Robby and his fellow students.
Robby and his fellow students formed a line.
“We just had a little powwow with the senseis at Miyagi-Do. From here on out, there will be no more fighting until the tournament.” Terry told Robby and his fellow students.
“Our enemies humiliate us, and we have to back down and take it?” Tory asked.
Kreese spoke. “Of course not. We should always show our enemies no mercy.”
“But there's a time to fight. No need to waste a punch if it's not going to score a point. So, if your enemies do something to mess with you or laugh in your face, good! Take all that anger and store it. You're going to need it when the time comes. Is that understood?” Terry asked Tory and her fellow students.
“Yes, Sensei!” Tory and her fellow students yelled.

ME: A - Hurt (Twin Power)
Scott was laying in his bed on the Tempest. Sure the space ship was parked at the Nexus, but he didn’t have the energy to leave the ship.
Sara had asked him if he wanted to go look at the hydroponics with her, Jaal, and Kallo but he declined. All he’s had the energy for is doing the bare minimum of his job and laying in bed.
Yes, he’s talked to Dr. Lexi about his lethargy, but he’s not exactly wanting to take any steps to make himself feel better. At least not yet.
Scott heard his door slide open and he assumed it was Sara. He didn’t bother to look as he continued to lay on his stomach in his bed, face deep into his pillow.
“Sara, please, just go do your thing without me. We’re twins, not conjoined twins.”
“She is doing her own thing,” Vetra said.
Scott raised his head sharply and his eyes flew open as he tensed up. He wasn’t expecting one of his crew members to come talk to him. He wasn’t even presentable or barely presentable. He hadn’t showered since they’ve parked on the Nexus four days ago and he hasn’t left his bed all that much accept to get water and to pee.
Scott didn’t move from the bed despite wanting the universe to swallow him whole.
“Me and some others are going to the Vortex to drink and I heard there’s a karaoke machine tonight. You should join us,” Vetra said.
“I’m good. Thanks for the offer,” Scott said reflexively.
“Well, damn,” Vetra said, “Looks like you’ll be going anyways. Drack, would you please.”
Before Scott could register what she said, he felt two clawed, three-fingered hands grip him around his waist.
“Whoa!” Scott shouted as his blue biotics kicked in as a gravitational field around his person.
It quickly faded though as Drack flung him over his shoulder. The biotics zapping too much energy from him as he only has enough to keep himself alive, not to fight.
“Good. This isn’t a fight you need to win, Kid,” Drack stated as he started walking out of the Tempest with him.
Scott propped himself up against Drack’s humped back as best as he could as he looked up at Vetra. She looked too proud of herself for dragging him out of his room and Scott felt his eyebrow twitch in annoyance.
“What’s the big idea? Did Sara put you two up to this? I swear, she needs to mind her damn business.”
Vetra’s smugness dropped and an emotion that Scott couldn’t read replaced it, “You’re her little brother. Of course you’re her business. She’s worried about you. Besides we weren’t asked by her to do anything anyways.”
“I’m the one that suggested that they ask you out,” S.A.M. said thorough the comms.
Scott looked up at the Tempest as they exited, looking at the space ship like he was looking at S.A.M. in betrayal. Scott got the impression that S.A.M. was supposed to be an extension of himself. Like sure he can have his own opinions and what not, like how you can have random thoughts in your head without acting on them, but he actively did something that he didn’t want to do.
“S.A.M. what the fuck!”
“You need to move around. You were starting to get bed sores.”
“S.A.M. I’m fine.”
“According to my diagnostics on your body, you are not.”
“Don’t fucking read my diagnostics to me!”
Scott was suddenly jostled roughly and it knocked the air out of him.
“Watch your head, Kid,” Drack said with a chuckle.
A set of automatic doors slid closed in front of his face and he looked around to see that Vetra had moved ahead of them as droning club music became all consuming as another set of automatic doors slid open.
Scott immediately felt drained and tired. More so than what he already was feeling. He sighed in defeat. He better not get lip from Tann about how a Pathfinder should look in public after this. He already knows what a Pathfinder should be, and it should have been his father.
Drack threw him down on couch and he heard a choir of welcoming voices from every human crewmember of the Tempest.
“Pardon us. We’d join you,” Vetra said, “but Drack promised to buy me drinks and tell me stories today.”
“Okay you two,” Suvi said, “Have fun.”
Vetra and Drack smiled and the red headed human woman and walked away.
“Glad to see you out of the ship, Scott,” Cora said as she sipped on her soda, “We were beginning to worry.”
“Yah. Let loose a little man. We had a major win and got on the good side of the Angara,” Liam stated.
Scott kept looking at his knees. Not wanting to meet Liam’s gaze. His crush on the black man was minor but it was still embarrassing to be seen like this by him. Even if Liam has seen Scott be a mess before. It was embarrassing then too.
“But it was at the cost of so many lives. All we could save was the Moshae. I know she’s important, but the others were important too...”
“Ah.” Gill said plainly as he sat his drink down on the coffee table they were sitting around, “Scott. You’ve made your choice. You made a bet that this will be the best choice for the future. You can’t put yourself down for every person you couldn’t save.”
Scott clinched his fists and the hard frown on his face became harder.
“I’m sad that we couldn’t save more people either,” Suvi stated, “but we don’t blame you for your choice. Either would have been hard to make.”
“You did your job the best you could,” Cora added.
“Yah, Man. Don’t beat yourself up so much,” Liam said.
Scott sighed as he leaned forward and held his head in his hands.
“I just want to do better.”
“And you will,” Gill stated confidently, “Now drink this. It’s called Squirrel something.”
Scott heard a glass being dragged a cross the coffee table and he looked up a little bit.
“Squirrel something? Squirrel something what?”
“I don’t know. I forgot what he called it,” Gill said with a shrug.
Scott blew air out of his mouth in a weak laugh. Then he picked it up and downed it in one go. Liam, Gill, and Suvi cheered for him while Cora clapped politely for him.
Scott shook his head at the silliness of it, but it did make him smile.

Rygar arcade for sale on craigslist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my opinion, the Christensen artwork on this playfield should shine like the backglass does.Ībove all, I'm a very happy camper. And some idiot attached the Little Demon with too long screws.Īlthough very risky, I'm planning on taking the mylar off and clearcoating it. Has mylar, but has some wear in places without it. Luckily, I have a spare one that looks a lot better. Sadly, the backglass is flaking on the underside. Plus it's got all the goodness of an early 80's Bally, like multiball and speech. This ís Dave Christensen's last piece of art at Bally, though. Probably because it's the successor of one of the all-time classics. I always thought that this is a very underrated (or undiscovered maybe?) title. Long story short: I wasn't planning on getting another pin, as my small appartment is already pretty stuffed. (Now who on earth would cancel picking up a free pin?!) But, Bob told me that the machine wasn't free anymore: he did want to have some money for it. So I hung up, thinking 'argh! if only I had seen that ad a few minutes earlier!' A few minutes later though, I get a call from Bob, telling me the first caller has in fact cancelled. The seller (Bob) promised to call me back in case the first caller should cancel. but 2 days ago I picked up this baby! It was posted on Marktplaats (the Dutch Craigslist, sort of) for free pickup and I was the second caller. My guess is that the game broke in 1982 (some kind of licensing sticker with 1982 date on the backglass) and the game was just moved between warehouses since. It is also interesting that the plastics are not yellowed at all. Interior of the game and underside of the playfield is immaculate. The pics do not do game the justice as it was quite dark in his garage. All plastic are intact and so are all the targets/drop targets. The playfield is dirty, but once I clean it will be about 9.8/10 condition. He said that Star God and Space Shuttle were the best earners and very reliable. I have showed him the Zaccaria pinball app on my phone and he remembered operating Space Shuttle, Earth Wind Fire, Fire Mountain and Star God. He told me that he had various Zaccaria machines. He was an operator back in the days and he had operated lots of pins. Today as I picked up the game he told me than I can have all the Lost world stuff for $50 and I gladly accepted the offer. He parted it out about a year ago, but kept all the boards, backglass and fully populated playfield in really good condition. He had Lost World backglass sitting on the shelf and I asked him about the machine. I paid him immediatelly and told him that I ll pick the game next day. When I got there I could not believe the condition of the playfield. In my mind I was expecting a total wreck, but because he lives close to me I went there to check it out. I have called and the seller wanted $120 for it. I saw an add for non working Zaccaria Hot wheels yesterday.

You Need to be Fucked || Elliot Smut (Euphoria)
Tumblr media
Warnings: SMUT, slight degradation, drug use, bomb ass music, language, Dom!Elliot
I met Elliot for the first time at Rue’s house. I surprised her with a bestie day and found them snorting something off a history book. In all fairness, I’ve always been easily persuaded.
We all started bonding before heading back to school. I was talking with Jules before I close my locker and we walk the halls to Rue. She’s talking to Lexi who exists before we approach. Jules kisses Rue and asks how her day has been and I can’t help but smile at their cute interaction before bringing a party the upcoming weekend.
“I don’t know. I got really wasted at Joey’s last weekend, I kinda just wanna chill. Plus I know Rue has NA, right Rue?”
“Mmmhm,” Rue said while we kind of eyed each other. She’s as sober as a Priest is straight and sadly I’m helping my best friend lie to my other best friend.
Elliot approached with a “Hey Ladies” before taking a slight bow. The bell rings and Jules pulls Rue to class while Elliot and I rail lines behind the school.
That night I went to Elliot’s and it was an experience. We got high together, listened to music and talked about how we would want to be discovered if we were ever murdered. Nothing too bloody, but definitely something to make them say, “Oh yeah, that bitch is dead”.
That weekend we both went to Joey’s without the girls and unbeknownst to me, the host and I hit it off. In the coming weeks, he was hanging out more with Rue and Jules and I was hanging out with Joey. I could see he was getting closer to them and it made me a little jealous. To get back at him, I would leave him on read in the middle of our conversation. Then he started to that shit to me. It kind of turned me on, but I hated it at the same time. Joey just gets insecure and asks if I still want to be with him if I leave him on read.
When we finally did get together, we had a lot to catch up on. We were listening to Vedo and he was speaking truth. I do need to be fucked because Joey just isn’t giving it like I need it. I cum, but I’m bored after. There’s no excitement, no taming, no pushing boundaries. To be honest, when Jules told me about her Elly, I wanted that.
You just need some head in the shower, or maybe back shots in the shower. I love it when you open it up. Have that pussy lookin' like a flower
“Are you getting horny?”
“What? No. Why?”
“Because you’re moving around a lot and I know what that means for girls.”
“You don’t know anything, Elliot. Just listen to the song,” I said blowing out smoke.
“I know this song represents you,” he said looking up to the ceiling. I damn near choke on my hit with that ridiculous announcement.
“I’m sorry, what? How?”
“Oh come on. You do fuck with lame niggas. From the stories you tell me, you’re not getting what you need.”
“And how do you know what I need?” I started to get a little defensive.
“It’s obvious,” he shrugs.
“Fuck you, it’s obvious. You don’t know me, Elliot.”
“Whoa. Why you being such a bitch right now?”
With that I was leaping off the floor and charging him.
“What the fuck did you just call me? WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST CALL ME!?” I got in a few licks to his chest before he caught my wrists in his hands. He roughly pulled me flush to him,
“A bitch. Why are you being one? Or did those Oxys make you go stupid. Huh?” He poked me in the forehead and I was shocked. His condescending tone made me red with blush and anger.
“Get your hands off me.” He lets go and puts his hands up while walking backwards. His fucking smirk made what I’m about to say so much easier,
“And that’s why Jules doesn’t trust you,” I turn my back and bend over to collect my things, “you fucking sit there and you judge people like you’re fuckin God.”
I turn back to face him and he’s now stalking over to me while putting his joint out on the desk. I continue talking my shit while growing more and more alert. He removes my backpack off my shoulder and then slowly wraps his hands around the front and back of my neck.
I go silent.
He slowly licks my lips and looks deep into my eyes before whispering, “I don’t know how Joey let’s you talk to him, but you don’t get to be a bitch to me and get away with it.” He kisses me deeply and my breath hitches in my throat.
“So instead of acting out, be a big girl and tell me what you need.”
You've got a mouth witcho mean ass. Ohh, sometimes you can act like a bitch, but I know you don’t mean it. I know you don't mean it. You just need some TLC, THC, long dick and Hennessy, yeah that's me. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Let me know, let me know.
I just stare at him and then he guides me to the bed and lays me down. Once there, we’re all over each other. Kissing and biting and fighting for dominance, which he wins.
I struggle against his grip and he just laughs at me. He leans down and bites my lip, “You’re so hot like this,” he grunted as soon as he released my lips. His mouth moving lower down my jaw and neck, “Fighting me.” He sits up and back on his heels to remove his shirt.
I reach up and dig my nails into his bare chest as a protest in losing dominance. He winces and then rips the front of my t-shirt before giving me a light tap to the cheek. I couldn’t help but moan.
“Shut the fuck up. You lost that privilege when you couldn’t even tell me what you’re thinking. What disgusting and degrading thoughts run through that beautiful brain.”
He takes of our bottoms and finishes tearing my shirt. In a last ditch effort to make him be at my mercy, I try to flip us over when he’s distracted. He wrestles me back into position, “Do you think I’m stupid?”
He rolls me on my stomach and bends to my ear, “Do you think I’m Joey?”
I try to head butt him, but he dodges it and his left hand finds the back of my neck again. His right goes to my throbbing pussy.
“Since you won’t tell me what you’ve been thinking about, I’ll tell you what I’ve been thinking about.” He inserts a finger only half way in,
“Touching you.” His finger goes all the way in before pulling out and adding another. He thrusts them in and out a few times before pulling them back out. He leaned back over my shoulder and took my hair in his hand to raise my head and look at him.
“Mmmm, tasting you.” He sucks his fingers clean before disappearing. I feel his tongue enter my soaking pussy and I almost cum right there, but I would never let him know that.
He removes his mouth and bites my shoulder, “Taking you.” He pushes his hard cock into my wet pussy and my eyes roll back into my head.
“Owning you.” He thrusts roughly a couple times before I’m practically screaming.
“Ohhh god, Elliot!”
He pulls out before sitting back on his heels and running his hand through his blonde curls.
I whined at the loss of contact and looked back at him,
“Please…” the word fell from my lips in a broken cry as his hot breath caressed my cheek.
“Please what?”
I know girls can never say they want it. Girls can never say now. Shawty just tell me you want it. Baby just let that shit out.
“Fuck me,” I whimpered, trying to raise my ass back against his hardness, but he held me down.
“Do better.”
“Sir…” I sighed, too desperate to care if I sounded pathetic or not. “Please fuck me.”
He hummed and bottomed out. I let out a moan and a smile appeared on my face but disappeared when he didn’t move.
“Tell me.”
“Ellyyyy.”
He starts to pull back out when I start begging, “I’ve thought about you inside me,” I whimpered and this time he rewarded me with three strong pumps inside my cunt. “I’ve thought about you to pinning me down and ramming your big cock so hard I see stars and I can’t sit for a week without feeling you.”
He lets out a growl and pulls me to my knees. He starts to pull me back into him, “was that so fucking hard? You put yourself through all this and for what?”
He shoves three fingers in my mouth while mercilessly thrusting into me until I’m soaking the sheets beneath him. I try to pull myself off of him, but he held me there.
“Pull yourself off my dick again and see what happens.”
He makes me cum again before emptying himself on the small of my back. He pushes back in to ride out his high. He finally stills his movements before pulling out and grabbing the towel. He joins me on the bed and pulls me in his arms,
“Are you alright?” he asked, raising his flushed and sweaty face, eyes full of concern. “I was pretty rough with you.”
“Nothing I couldn’t handle.” You smiled up at him. “Thank you, Elly. That was perfect. My legs are fucking numb.”
“We’ll I’m down for round two whenever you are…”
You need some love. You need to be fucked

Eyes Only Translation (Kawase/Tamamori)
I’m back with anothert short translation project. This time of the Kawatama SS of Hashihime of the old book town released in the cool-b magazine. Thanks Lexi for helping me with the editing again.
Tumblr media
Eyes only  I was watching the sky get brighter while gently caressing the head of black hair in my arms. There was no feeling of enjoyment or boredom. And yet I found myself hesitating to cough even once, wishing this moment would last forever. His curly hair felt pleasantly cold due to last night’s moisture. This beautiful season called summer is quickly becoming hotter and hotter, and thanks to him, become more bearable. I kissed his eyelid gently. He knitted his eyebrows and sneezed in his sleep, did he mistake it for a bug? This man isn’t seductive at all. In the morning we return to being friends. When he was finally in the mood to wake up, he grabbed my arm on the bed. “Nn-….hey” “What?” “Good morning.” “Yeah.” He sluggishly raised up his upper body. Waking up with the blue sky behind him, Tamamori-kun’s eyes were black and wet in the darkness. Yes, black. The blue of the blue sky, which was in his eyes before, was being reflected in my own eyes. Yes, blue. “…….!?” “That…” “!!?” “The eye colour, it changed.” His mouth was slowly spreading. A soundless roar mixed with a scream shook the entire house. This was the morning of the first day of summer vacation. After screaming only once, Tamamori-kun took me out outside with a stubborn and calm attitude. When I asked him where we were going, he only said we were heading west. After arriving at Tokyo station, we boarded on a third-class train bound to Osaka.   The people beside us are talking about their encounters to get over their boredom. Sitting opposite of us were a man with his son watching the scenery pass before them. Their faces were pressed so close against the window it's as if they were about to jump off at any moment. Every time the son stared at me, the father led his attention to outside. I didn’t think it was rude. Because a man having another man wear a collar was strange after all. “Hey, what is this?” “…….” Tamamori-kun wrapped the end of the chain around his arm and crossed his arms tightly. Not even giving a single glance towards me. He was calm earlier, I said, but what is “calm”? “Chained up a mad dog of course.” “Who is a mad dog?” “Is there anyone else here besides you?” “……” “Say Tamamori-kun, you don’t really have any morals.” If I wanted to, I could escape, but I was curious to see the outcome of this nightmare. Did Gulliver feet like that when traveling through foreign countries? I decided to follow his eccentric behaviour. Having said that…… “Why Osaka?” “…..” “ It’s 10 hours away.” “…..” “If you don’t talk I won’t go along with it.” “The rain comes from the west, right? We are going to meet the rain and clouds.” Unfortunately the thunderhead was in the east. Seems like you could only see it from the window from my seat. The train stopped at Yokohama on the way. The man and his son got off. Shortly before they we were separated, the boy presented me a bottle of Ramune. It was still sealed, warmed by the sun and covered with drops of water. The boys said nothing. Tamamori-kun took it instead of me, wiped off the dew and handed it over to me again. “A blessing.” “Thanks.” The train moves with a creaking noise.“I knew this day would come, so I was prepared.” “…” “It’s not you like you could prepare a travel plan immediately.” “It was not a scheduled trip.” “Then what?” “An expedition.” “So you are ready for an honourable defeat too.” He pulled on the collar chain, telling me to be quiet. Seems like I’m being treated like a prisoner. “I’m giving you the Ramune. You like sweet things, don’t you?” “……” “Silent again.” “Please refrain from private talk” “Whoa, such a formal way of speaking.” Tamamori-kun’s impatience is irritating but I don’t really care about it. It's written on his easy readable face. I can also see the anxiety you are trying to hide. Putting my chin on my hands, I gaze lovingly at his profile. We will arrive at Osaka at night. What should we eat then? Why do I want to see your surprised face, when you see something for the first time at this new place? Tamamori-kun surely would be even angrier if I say I enjoyed this journey. The passengers started to close the windows even though there was no tunnel. Tamamori-kun looked at the window and instantly opened his eyes wide. He turned around and I saw a small raindrop on his cheek. Some say it’s called a sun shower. He stood up in a hurry and pulled on my collar and we ran through the crowded train. It was odd that rain was falling even though there was not one cloud in the sky. Something like a fox’s wedding, is what you would normally associate this with. When we entered the train lobby, Tamamori-kun raised his voice at me. “Do something for me!!!” It was a line that would astonish a stranger if they would hear it without knowing the circumstances. “Hurry! Stop the rain-!!!” “Even if I did something for you, it doesn’t mean it would return to you.” “Bastard! Then you’ll be chained up for the rest of your life!” “I’m fine with it.” “Haa!?”The only difference from before is that the chain is now visible. ….However. “Calling me “Bastard”. I hate it when you keep treating me like some stranger.” He touched the tip of his chin and caressed his lips with the thumb. I put this hand back into my hands and opened the Ramune. It made a sound like a steam whistle and it bubbles popped like smoke. “I opened it for you.” “…..!” “You actually wanted to drink it, didn’t you?” Despite being dumbfounded, Tamamori-kun slurped like a stray dog with his food before him. He tore the bottle away from me and drunk it head first. The marble inside moved up and down when he exhaled, the carbonated water was white and tangled. When he finished everything, he nervously opened his tight shut eyes. The blue of the sky. The blue of the water. The blue of the rain. This colour is the one dyeing his eyes whenever I think about him. ….Seems like this feeling of wanting to give it back was successful. And the cost of it is this listlessness that falls onto me. Ha-ah. Are we returning to the unpredictable life where I have to watch his steps in the rain? In contrast, Tamamori-kun’s mood suddenly improved and he gave his unpleasant “Nyaha” laugh. “O-osaka..! When we arrive it will be night, right? Wh-what should we eat then!? First we should do some sightseeing.” “Say, Tamamori-kun.” “You should stop inviting me on rainy days from now on.” I gave him back the collar after removing it. After being freed from this position I returned to my seat alone.

「 @dis--parity 」 — writes:
"Hey, Vivian! Vivian, my boobs got bigger, come feel!"
Before she can even muster a reply or process what's going on, Alex has grabbed her hand and pulled it towards her chest - where, indeed, she'd feel that her boobs have, in fact, increased in size. Or, have they? It's not like she would be able to tell, Alex realised - but it didn't seem to matter to her, judging by that utterly devilish grin on her face.
always accepting → unprompted asks !!
Tumblr media
“...H-Huh...? I beg your pardon?” With distracted blinks rolling off her lashes, Vivian soon glances up from the manga she was reading, allowing coal black eyes to stare towards her girlfriend in a mixture of disbelief and shock. Honestly, of all the things she had expected, she was not expecting Alex to announce her ‘boobs’ had suddenly gotten bigger. Before she could question her further, however, her palm is abruptly seized and pulled towards her chest, causing Vivian to drop the manga she was holding as her gaze grew wide and a dark magenta hue descended upon her cheeks.
Tumblr media
“...?!” No sooner did the spine briefly land against her feet, her hand would instinctively squeeze a breast, which prompts a mild squeak to usher past her throat. “H-Hey! At least give me ample time to react first before doing random ecchi stuff!” Vivian then stammers out. Still, despite protesting, her other hand would soon lift upwards to shamelessly grope the other breast with the manga now laying abandoned and forgotten by the floor.
“Whoa, they might not exactly be H-Cups... but even so, you have a super nice rack! A-Are you sure I can continue copping a feel, Lexy? You won’t slap me like how an anime girl would slap the main protagonist when he accidentally does something pervy?”

I'm so curious about the rebound coda and also fire Pat.
Fire!Pat has the most interest so far (colour me not-at-all surprised). Here's a summary and a snippet for that one. 🔥
As for the Rebound coda, I actually started this one a long time ago and it's more or less complete, I just haven't gotten around to giving it an edit and finishing it off, so perhaps this will be my motivation!
It's a little sweet, a little funny, and a little sexy. Here's a snippet:
“That’s very creative David, but I actually don’t care what Jocelyn plans to do now.”
Whoa.
That was possibly the most un-Patrick like thing he could have said. Patrick always cared about what was going on with the people in this town. Like, to a fault. David was starting to feel a bit responsible for driving her away, if only because Patrick was clearly so distressed.
“Maybe we could talk to Ray and see what his latest venture is? He always has something…” David struggled for a complimentary word to possibly describe a Ray business venture, “...interesting on the go.”
“David, I told you, I really don’t care what Jocelyn ends up doing.”
“Okay! Sorry! I was just thinking of a couple of alternatives since the store didn’t work for her.”
“Yeah, the store didn’t work for her.”
So, Patrick was pissed with him then. Maybe a switch in tactics to try to smooth this over.
“I did manage to give the florist a call with the extra time today. I even filled in that Google Sheet you shared with me,” he announced proudly.
“That’s great babe, thanks for doing that,” Patrick responded fairly unenthusiastically for all of the ribbing he had given David earlier.
Okay, so not about the flowers either. David decided to switch tactics again with some good ol' Rose family drama as a distraction.
“Can you believe that Alexis is dating that elderly gentleman, Artie?! He was wearing friendship bracelets, Patrick. Friendship bracelets!”
This got a slight smirk and raised eyebrow in return, so David counted it as a win and continued.
“He calls her Lexie, and he scats! Dad also texted me about some crazy interaction he had with Twyla. She apparently already used to know him as a baby?"
"Twyla has the strangest stories. Sometimes I really worry about her. They can't all actually be true can they?" Patrick said more to himself as he started to do the till count.
"Anyway I'm really worried about Alexis, and now you're all out of sorts, and I can only handle one person's third life crisis at a time, so can you just tell me what's going on?”
Thanks for the ask! 💛
Ask me about my WIPS!

hello! I’m going around asking PhD students if they have any tips for calming nerves during presentations. I have to present a paper I wrote to a conference and I’ve never done anything like this, so I’m quite nervous. Any piece of advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks, hope you have a good day :)
hi! first, congratulations! that's so exciting, i'm so proud.
Don't drink caffeine on the day of/before your presentation. Although I loveee coffee, I don't drink any on presentation days because it makes me more anxious than usual (and i'm already anxious as hell as it is so...)
Say aloud to yourself "I am presenting on this because I know what I am talking about". Other affirmations are good too like "I am an articulate and confident speaker" or "My voice matters and the audience values my insights".
If you're worried about people asking you questions and that's what is making you nervous, remind yourself that you're not supposed to have it all figured out. Like, if someone asks you a question, and you're like .. wtf are they asking me, you can say "That's a great question, I'll have to get back to you on the specifics of that but at this time, I think [insert answer here]". Admitting that you don't know isn't a sign of weakness, it's a sign of strength!
If you can, call a loved one or best friend before your presentation to vent or bring you back to reality and get out of your own head.
Hopefully these tips help! Have fun with your presentation!!

"Two miserable people meeting at a wedding"
“Double scotch, please,” Mark placed his order at the bar, throwing some cash in the tip jar. Even though it was tradition to have the bride’s family pay for the wedding, this event had Avery money written all over it. The bar was open and they weren’t just pouring the cheap stuff either. This was the real deal. It’s the sort of party that Addison would have loved…
Mark growled and glanced over at the bartender, wondering how long it could possibly take to pour some scotch.
“Can I get a gin and tonic, please? Thank you!” A soft voice came from his side and Mark’s head swung over, taking in the woman next to him. One of the bridesmaids…Lulu…Leslie…Lexie! Lexie was the bridesmaid’s name. She was the only one standing up with April who wasn’t related to her – a friend from residency, if Mark remembered what Avery had told him.
Avery knew that Mark was taking the breakup with Addison pretty hard and had forbidden him to sleep with any of April’s sisters. But Lexie was definitely not one of April’s sisters. And judging from the familiar, desperate look she was giving the bartender, she wasn’t here with anyone and was maybe even trying to forget her own single state.
“Lexie, right?” he asked, stepping closer to her. The bartender finally came back with his drink and he tilted his head in thanks.
Lexie turned to him, slightly flushed as she looked up at him. “Yep, that’s me. You’re uh…you’re Mark Sloan, right? Jackson’s mentor?”
“You got it. Mark Sloan – head of plastics at Seattle Grace.” He held out his hand to her and Lexie quickly shook it, her blush only increasing.
“Gin and tonic,” the bartender called out and Lexie turned to the bar and immediately took a rather large swig of her drink.
Mark’s eyes widened. “Whoa! “
Lexie looked back at him, taking a much smaller sip of her drink this time. “Sorry. Sorry, I just…think is the first social thing that I’ve had to go to since my fiancé broke up with me and I forgot how much these things suck without a plus one.”
Mark grimaced and nodded. “Tell me about it. My girlfriend dumped me a few weeks ago. Said it just wasn’t working. After three years and it’s just not working anymore? Whatever.”
“Exactly! Like you spend all this time loving someone else, changing around your whole life plan for them and then suddenly you’re just not doing it for them anymore? Because you’re not a slutty nurse who’s slept with like…five guys in your residency class?” She took another swig of her drink and sighed. She looked over at him, a glimmer of humor in her eyes. “I’m guessing that maybe your girlfriend didn’t leave you for a slutty nurse.”
Mark laughed. “I wouldn’t have minded if it had been a slutty nurse. But no, she just left. Just up and broke it off. It’s a little easier though…we were long distance. She’s in L.A. and I’m here in Seattle.”
Lexie made a face. “That is lucky. I’m crashing in my sister’s attic because I moved out of his apartment and now I have no where to go.”
“An attic? Your sister hate you or something?”
She shrugged. “No. Not anymore. She used to, but she doesn’t now. It’s a long story. We weren’t raised together and she’s my half-sister…” She took another (smaller) sip of her drink. “It’s actually fine. It can be cozy.”
He smirked, amused at her response. She seemed to be a glass half full girl, for sure. “Do you want to sit down, Lexie? Instead of taking up space at the bar?” he asked, sipping at his drink.
She made a face and looked around. “I mean, I guess. I’d rather be dancing, but again…lonely, single girl on the dance floor clutching her gin and tonic is just sad.” She muttered something under her breath that might have been “fucking Alex,” but Mark wasn’t completely sure.
Instead, he grabbed her drink out of her hand and set both his and her drink down at a nearby table. “Come dance, then.”
She grinned wildly at him and shook her head. “Your drink is still like almost full.”
“It’s an open bar. I’ll just come back and get another one. And if you want to dance, you should dance. We don’t have to be miserable single people if we don’t want to.”
Nodding, Lexie let Mark lead her out onto the dance floor.
Later that night, as April and Jackson were slow dancing, April chuckled and nodded across the dance floor. “I never would have put the two of them together.”
Jackson glanced over to where she’d gestured and saw Lexie and Mark slowly swaying back and forth as they talked to each other, soft smiles on both of their faces. “I thought Mark was going to be unbearable tonight, but Lexie really perked him right up.”
“Same – I thought I was going to have to save Lexie from drowning her sorrows. But…they seem so happy. So…not miserable.” April’s eyes gleamed. “Can’t wait til the next wedding.”
“Aren’t you rushing things maybe a little bit, April? They just met!”
She grinned. “I have a good feeling about them.”

__
You can’t help but laugh at the stupid joke your friend just made at your expense about Eric always being gone for work. You’re ready to send a smart remark her way but your phone lights up and the notification has you freezing.
Jack.
Your breath catches in your throat at the sight of it. His name is purposefully kept simple in your phone to try and pass him off as unimportant, like a forgotten group project member from a class you were well over with, but he was so much more than that.
Lexie clears her throat quietly and nods down at the phone. She was all too aware of who Jack was and what him texting you meant. Luckily your other friends had no clue and they hadn’t caught on to why you’d gone quiet suddenly. You bite your lip and look back at them, trying to put yourself back into the conversation, but you had lost them while you were in your own little world.
Your phone buzzes again and you sigh, picking it up. You knew if he was sending multiple texts that it was only a matter of time before he’d show up at your place and you didn’t really want to explain to your friends why this boy was suddenly on your doorstep.
‘Busy tonight?’
‘I can be over in 20’
You glance up at Lexie and find her already watching you so you turn the phone towards her and she nods. Jack usually didn’t take no for an answer and you were sure tonight was no different.
“Ladies, why don’t we grab an Uber and head to that new restaurant that just opened? I heard they have some awesome mixed drinks,” Lexie bluffs, buying you a way out so he could come over.
They all agree quickly, but you decline, saying you’re not feeling too well all of a sudden. Your friends laugh, making up reasons why you want out of what was supposed to be a long awaited girls’ night. None of them are right though and it’s only because Lexie won’t weigh in with the truth, thank God.
You entertain everyone a little longer, walking them to the door when the car pulls up outside. They all file in, but Lexie hangs back for a second. She gives you a hug goodbye but holds you for an extra second.
“You better figure out who you want more because you know Eric will end up finding out about him eventually,” she mumbles, “and I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
You sigh because you know she’s right. Jack was only supposed to ever be a one night stand, but he’d turned into a 5 month ordeal at this point. You give her a tight smile as she joins the rest of the girls and you wave them off.
Heading back inside, you put all the glasses near the kitchen sink, making a mental note about emptying the dishwasher later. You pick your phone up to check and see where Jack was but a knock on your door answers it for you. With a deep breath you head over, never quite ready for all the feelings that came with seeing him. He had some sort of hold on you that you could never explain but you couldn’t get enough of it.
You swing the door open, exchanging your nerves for a smirk as you see the slightly younger boy on the doorstep, “hey you. Come in.”
Jack does exactly that, his arm coming around your waist as he leans down to kiss you hard. You can’t help but grab onto him, arms finding their way around his shoulders as he picks you up suddenly. You hear him slam the door behind you two as he carries you to the kitchen, setting you down on the island but staying between your legs.
“Hi,” he finally says once he lets you pull back a bit. He’s got a smile on his face that makes your heart stutter. He was always a little cocky and a whole lot clingy when he was with you but you loved the combination.
You fake pout, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck, “you interrupted girls’ night, Jack.”
“Aww, I did?” He asks, one hand already slipping under your shirt but only to rest on your hip, “does that mean you and I can’t have a drink first?”
“House is mine all weekend,” you answer his unasked question, nodding towards the liquor cupboard behind him.
His eyes light up a little at your admission and he slowly untangles himself from you, though you know it won’t last long. If you had to guess, you figured Jack’s love language was physical touch with the way he hardly ever let you go when you two were together.
He starts to rifle through the shelves, pulling your usual bottle of wine down for you and you force yourself not to think about how he was starting to become comfortable and familiar with your world. He grabs a bottle of something stronger for himself and you know you’ll have to refill whatever he takes.
With a glass poured for both of you, Jack turns around and hands you yours. He raises his glass up for a toast and you laugh lightly.
“What’s the toast for, Hughes? You sign a big contract or something that I don’t know about?” You tease, but raise yours as well.
“No,” he says, blushing a little at your tone, “just a toast. To us, I guess.”
Us. It’s a phrase that shouldn’t exist. There should be no ‘you and Jack’ at all but there definitely is and you didn’t think you were strong enough to shut that down any time soon. Truth be told, you didn’t want to. You’d rather date Jack but he’d made it clear he wasn’t in the right place for commitment yet in life.
You ignore the issues, like you usually did, and clink your glass with his, “to us then. And all the fun that comes with it.”
Jack takes a drink of his own mixture and you’re almost shocked at the amount he takes down. You reach out and put a hand on his arm.
“Whoa there. We’re in no rush here tonight,” you remind him, “are you okay?”
“Of course I am. I’m here with you.”
The statement has you blushing now and you set your glass down so you can pull him closer. You liked the way you were basically the same height when you sat on the island. It made things a lot easier and gave you the chance to make a move rather than leaving the control up to him.
“You are here. How’s hockey been?” You ask, like you hadn’t watched every game this season so far.
Jack shrugs, stepping in close again as he finishes his drink and sets the glass over with yours, “it’s okay. I’m more interested in you right now though. Maybe tonight we can update that amazing Polaroid I keep in my wallet.”
Your face feels hot when you remember the picture he’d taken of you one night and tucked away for himself. You knew where it was in his wallet and you knew the wear marks had gotten bad over his last few road trips.
Yeah, you two were the definition of fucked up, if you had to weigh in on it.
“I bet you’d like that, huh?” You ask, grabbing his shirt and tugging him the rest of the way towards you.
It’s easy to kiss Jack, to let yourself get lost in him. You weren’t sure when you realized it, but kissing him was easy and fun. You found yourself wanting to do it all the time, so when you did have him all to yourself you let it happen as much as possible. He knew exactly how to kiss you, exactly when to slide his tongue into your mouth, and where to trail the kisses when he wanted to make you shiver under his touch.
He seems to be moving faster than usual, his kisses shortening as he moves his lips across your jaw and down your neck. You tug on his hair a little, trying to get him to look at you, but he seems to ignore it. You press a hand to his chest and try to push him back.
“Jack,” you say firmly, finally getting him to settle down and look at you, “what’s your hurry today? Can’t we just enjoy this?”
He rolls his eyes but pulls you closer to the edge of the counter, “why slow down? You haven’t seen me in a week. Aren’t you ready to go?”
You sigh, looking over his features, and see how exhausted he looks. It’s always just a hookup to him and you have to remind yourself of that. Just because you started catching feelings didn’t mean that he did. You ignore it though, and nod at his last question.
“Can we go upstairs then?” He asks, hands slipping under your shirt as he lets his fingers dance lightly up your sides.
You shiver a little and his smirk grows, but you mumble, “hmm, I guess we could.”
It’s all he needs to hear before he’s tugging you off the counter and nudging you towards the stairs. You reach back without looking and his hand grips yours almost instantly. You didn’t even have to look to know he was close and sometimes it scared you how easily you could find each other.
You push open the door to the guest bedroom, never daring to take your activities into your actual bedroom, and you turn around to find Jack watching you intently. You want the upper hand this time though, so you nod your head at the bed.
“Your turn for some attention. Come here,” you say, trying to sound as nice as you could, but you know it sounds coy.
Jack obliges you happily though and crowds your personal space, his back towards the bed. You reach up to push him back, hands finding his sides and pressing into him. The quick wince from him as he grabs your right hand scares you and you back up suddenly.
“Jack? What’s wrong?” You ask, your eyes looking him up and down as you try to figure out what just happened. You realize suddenly that it’s what's under his shirt that made him react so quickly.
You reach for the hem of his shirt and tug it up above his stomach, finding a bruise blooming above his left hip. It’s all different colors and you know he got it from a game. You reach out, just barely grazing your fingers against his skin.
“Don’t,” he says through gritted teeth as he grabs your hand, “it’s fine.”
“Fine? That doesn’t look fine at all,” you scoff.
“I handled it,” he says and you instantly know what he means.
He’d gotten them before and at first you had no clue what they were. Toradol shots were still given out like candy in the league and Jack had gotten them before he even realized what they were. He started getting them pretty often and last he’d told you, he was going to try to get an alternative means of pain relief.
“I thought you were done with those. How long ago did you get this one?” You ask, still not taking your eyes off the bruise.
“Three hours ago,” he whispers and your gaze immediately shoots up to his face.
“Three hours?” You ask, fighting to keep your voice lower, “you used to last six hours on those. Are you taking them that often?”
“Don’t fucking worry about me!” He snarls, pushing his shirt back down, “You don’t get to judge me either. Do you forget whose house we’re in? I’m not the one cheating on someone here.”
You swallow hard and look away from him. There was no denying that comment stung a lot and your fight or flight had turned to the latter. You know Jack had a tendency to get mean when he got backed into a corner about something he didn’t want to talk about but you always seemed to push it just a bit too far with him. You were left to regret it instantly when he bit back.
“Can we just do what we normally do? I don’t want to fight with you,” you ask, much quieter now than a few moments ago.
He sighs and nods, reaching for your hand before he leans in to kiss you. You let him do what he always really came for and offer yourself up in the only way you knew how to be there for him. He wasn’t good at letting you in normally, but sleeping with him was different. He was all about actions rather than words.
He always took his time when it came to sex. He’d undress you first, giving you attention until you’re begging, and then the egotistical part of him would ensure that you always got off. It was bragging rights for him basically but those ones at least benefited you as well.
What never failed to surprise you was that he always let you hold him after. It’s like he needed it, but couldn’t verbalize it, so when he rolls onto his side and pulls you close you let your lips find his forehead as he presses his face into the crook of your neck. You know that’s when you get the real Jack. The one he’s too afraid to show you during the daylight. You’re not sure if it’s the painkillers finally kicking in or the alcohol hitting him just right after he’d gotten off, but he’s so much more affectionate and human in those moments.
“I swear I’m gonna talk to doc about getting pain treatment a different way,” he mumbles, his arm that’s wrapped around you tightening a little as he says it.
You lean back to look at him and push his hair out of his eyes, “that sounds like a good idea. I’m sure he’ll be able to help you out.”
A smile flashes across his face but it’s gone just as quickly as it showed. He sits up then and glances back at you, a look on his face that you can’t quite figure out.
“I need to go,” he says, swinging his legs off the bed and starting to pull his clothes back on.
You sit up, holding the blanket tight around you as you watch him. You wished you could say something or ask him to stay even, but you knew better. As much as you hated seeing him leave, there was really no other option. You have to take a deep breath to make sure your feelings don’t come flying out of your mouth before it’s too late to stop them.
Jack pulls his shirt back on and turns back towards you, kneeling on the bed to lean over and give you a few quick kisses before heading for the bedroom door.
He grabs the handle and hesitates, looking over his shoulder with the same look you couldn’t make out when he’d sat up in bed. He almost looks upset, but his shoulders aren’t tensed up like they are when he’s upset after a game. You feel your stomach turn but you have to ask.
“Is everything okay, Jack?”
He pushes a smile onto his face and nods, “yeah, it’s all good. I’ll see you around.”
You return the smile and watch him finally go, falling back into the empty bed that you were always left with. Things always felt a little more empty once Jack was gone.
“This place is packed,” you raise your voice, leaning in so Lexie can hear you better.
She nods, looking just as displeased as you, “I know, but Sam wanted to come here for her birthday so we just have to fake some fun for a couple hours and then maybe we can get everyone to go somewhere else.”
Clubs weren’t typically your thing but Lexie swore she’d stick by your side that night since the both of you would much rather be at home with wine and a blanket. Instead you were trying to make your way to a bar that had layers of people at least three deep trying to get their drinks.
Lexie bites the bullet and goes up first to get you both drinks and you look around the room, trying to get your bearings for where things were. You find a back exit, the bathrooms, and what looks to be a VIP section. It’s not a normal VIP section though because there’s no one preventing people from going in or out of the area so you shrug it off and wait for your friend to return.
“To being newly single and Sam’s birthday for getting you out of your apartment!” Lexie smiles, handing you your drink and holding hers up.
You laugh and happily clink your glass, taking an even bigger drink than you’d intended when you suddenly remember the last person you’d done a toast with.
You hadn’t heard from Jack since he left after giving you that odd look. Maybe he wasn’t handling the pressure of the season well and just needed to be in his own head space. That was the excuse you kept telling yourself anyways. You’d broken things off with Eric once he’d gotten home from his work conference because you knew you didn’t have feelings for him the way you did for Jack. Not that you had any right to, but since when did anyone’s heart ever listen to logic?
“Should we try and find a table?” Lexie asks, having to really raise her voice to be heard now.
You nod, knowing it was almost impossible to speak up and have her hear you so instead you head a little farther into the club, trying to move towards the wall. You get a bit of a clearing then and you both let out a sigh.
“I thought we were about to die in there,” you laugh, the noise level lower in the back part of the room.
Lexie snorts and opens her mouth to respond, but the way her eyes go wide over something she sees behind you makes you nervous. You turn to check what she’d seen and it’s almost instant that you find what caught her attention. Jack is standing there, back near the VIP area, with a pretty little thing pressed against the front of him. She’s trying so hard to get his attention but you know from the look on his face that he’s not hearing a word she says.
Your heart sinks a little at the sight of him. He was obviously available to other people, but he hadn’t been able to make any time for you. You scold yourself immediately and turn back to Lexie.
“He hasn’t reached out. I should just leave him,” you say, but there’s an itch suddenly under your skin from knowing how close he is.
Lexie raises an eyebrow at you and glances back at Jack, “you’re kidding, right? I bet if you went over there right now he’d send that girl packing and talk to you.”
She’s not wrong but those weren’t the words you wanted her to say to you. What you needed to hear was that you should leave him alone because he hadn’t tried to see you. You chew on your lip as you think over what Lexie had just said and glance at him again.
He meets your gaze this time but it’s like he’s seeing right through you. The look alone is enough to have you turning around and heading in his direction. He sidesteps the girl who was trying to talk to him and meets you halfway. His hair is starting to get long and he definitely hasn’t shaved in a couple days, but you can’t tell that until he’s closer.
“You look hot,” he smiles, leaning down a bit so you can hear him better. He looks rough and you can smell the alcohol rolling off of him as he presses so close to you it’s hard to think straight. The glass in his hand is empty save for one last drink of the dark liquid. This isn’t the Jack you were used to. This was someone else entirely.
“Thanks,” you say, not used to him using that phrase to describe you, “who did you come here with?”
He frowns and looks around the room, “uh, I don’t know. I think Nico maybe?”
Your worry only grows when he can’t give you a straight answer, “are you sure you’re okay here? Do you need to leave maybe?”
“Stop,” he groans, running a hand through his hair, “why do you care so much? I treat you like shit but you still come back. Why?”
“I don’t know. I can’t help it, I guess,” you shrug, suddenly feeling a little uncomfortable.
Jack’s eyes are a little glassy and he seems to be focusing hard to keep his sight on you. He wobbles a little and you reach out, putting a gentle grip on his arm.
“No, don’t. I’m not what you want. Fuck, you deserve a real guy. Listen, I’m not the shiny new toy in the league anymore. Now I’m just some kid who can’t put up the right numbers,” he says, choking out a laugh that sounds hollow.
“Why don’t you let anyone help you? This doesn’t have to be something you do alone.”
His eyes roll back in his head as he closes them, sighing, “you don’t listen. You can’t fix me. What about that don’t you get?”
“Jesus, Jack, if you’d let people in then this wouldn’t be a fight right now. Where have you been lately even? You went missing after the last time you came over,” you try and change the subject, hoping whatever is coursing through his system allows you to redirect him easily.
“I got things taken care of. No more painkiller shots,” he smirks, like he’s really proud of whatever it is he’d done.
Something about the way he's still looking through you rather than at you has you doubting the source of his new fix. You refuse to ask, not wanting to know if he’d found something harder or what. You knew what type of things athletes could get involved with.
He reaches his hand up suddenly, cupping your cheek, and finally looking at you like he sees you, “you care about me so much,” he starts, his thumb gently rubbing your cheek, “and I care so fucking much, but I can’t be the guy for you. I wish I could because I’ve never had feelings for someone the way I do for you, but I’m too fucked up. I can’t take you down with me.”
You swallow hard as his words sink in and you’re sure people must be watching the two of you. You’re still pressed close and he can’t look away from you now. He knows his feelings for you border on being in love, but he meant what he said, even if his head was so fuzzy he could hardly remember where he was. He was always sure about you and his feelings for you though.
“Jack, I broke up with him,” you mumble, but somehow he still manages to hear you. Of course he heard you.
His face flashes with confusion and even a little bit of hurt, and it’s the most emotion you’ve seen from him so far. He swallows and opens his mouth before closing it again. He blinks hard and then seems to settle back into the blank stare he’d been sporting.
“You didn’t have to do that. He cared about you,” he finally replies, but he seems a little thrown off still. You can’t see it in his look, but you can certainly hear it in the slight waiver of his voice.
You nod, because of course you knew, but you tell him, “but he wasn’t you, J. He never could be.”
He can’t bring himself to respond but his bottom lip quivers a little. He has to force himself to zone out so he doesn’t break down and try to keep you all to himself. That wouldn’t be fair if he did. He knew he had to let you go even though he only wanted the opposite. You can tell he’s closing himself off and you realize he’s not coming back to you again.
“You know if you ever need me you just have to call. I’ll always show up for you,” you nod, forcing yourself to keep your cool. If you lost it you weren’t sure how he’d react because he certainly wasn’t in his right mind.
The lights in the club dance across his face, creating shadows on the left side of his features. You know it’s a little ironic but you look between the differences and see the two sides of him then. He wanted to be good. A good guy, a good hockey player, and a good boyfriend even. But the other side of him had taken too much already. Too many hits, too many drinks, and too many one night stands to feel like he could settle down with a good person.
“I’m gonna go, Jack. Don’t be a stranger. Please,” you tell him, silently begging him to ask you to stay.
Instead his hand drops from your cheek and he nods, leaning forward to kiss your forehead. You close your eyes and take it in for a second before he’s pulling away. You start to walk away to where Lexie is waiting and watching the entire thing. She gives you a comforting smile and holds her arm out for you to hide under.
She heads for the exit immediately, knowing you were done for. You can’t help but glance back at where Jack still was. He’s still watching you walk away, eyes locked on you but glossed over in a way that tells you he isn’t taking anything in again. The lights still reflect on his face, light and dark, and you know you have to let him go.
It’s just that everything felt a little more empty when Jack was gone, for you and for him.

LBAF Chapter 12 Live-Blogging Cause Why Not
Background info: Rafe's body got kidnapped
BRUH
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD
DANI WHY
Starting Ch 12:
She didn’t know what exactly she was looking for right now.
Was she supposed to look for his body? Was she supposed to look for a zombie?
Had he woken up by himself and wandered out? Had someone kidnapped him? If so, why in the world would they do that?
valid questions sis.
“We can’t find the body,” Beatriz said, her face grim.
yeah no shit, its probably in edom with how the plot's going
“Who checked the security cameras?”
“Ma’am!” one of the travel year students put up her hand. “It was me. The security footage has been wiped out.”
demons been getting used to tech already? whoa
“You can’t track someone who is dead,” Beatriz said in frustration and turned to Selena's parents.
have u tried tho?
prolly wont work since again, i have my theory that he's in Edom but still.
The entire New York Institute was shaking.
“What in the fresh hell?” Lexi whispered next to her.
“What’s happening?” her mother demanded. “Is it an earthquake?”
nope, it's Magnus Bane, one of the eldest curses, free wheeling bisexual and most powerful warlock in history.
The warlock was marching towards the main hall. His hands stretched out – blue magic was flowing out of him like waves escaping an ocean.
uncle agnes!
The warlock stepped closer to them and uttered four words.
The only four words that probably mattered to him.
“Where is my son?”
well, fuck
The institute shook harder, and Lexi fell against her. Selena grabbed her sister tightly.
“Magnus,” her father said carefully. “You need to calm down.”
“Don’t tell me what to do!” Magnus hissed. “You had one job. You were supposed to keep him safe! Now he is gone. Where is he? Who took him?”
valid concren bestie, but killing every one of your friends and family in rage ain't gon help
“You will find him,” Magnus said. No – ordered. “I will tear this place down brick by brick if necessary.”
magnus.
think clearly u dumbass.
“What happened?” Max demanded loudly. “Someone just waltzed in here and kidnapped my brother?”
“Who took him?” Magnus shouted. “Who took my son?”
“We don’t know,” her mother replied. “The security footage has been wiped out and-”
“What?” the Consul demanded in an incredulous tone. “What were you all doing while this happened?”
“How could you let this happen?” Max yelled.
“We didn’t let this happen!” Lexi yelled back.
y'all are worse than a recurring hindi serial
“EVERYONE SHUT UP!”
All voices fell silent, and all eyes turned to Selena.
YES YES YES MY BABY KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS
Y'ALL SELENA 'CELERY' HERONDALE KNOWS HOW TO DO SHIT.
“We could stand here and point fingers or actually go out there and start looking for Rafael,” Selena said in frustration. “Consul, we split up and searched the institute. Rafael is not here. There is a good chance someone took him out of the parameters. We need to alert the Alliance. We can ask the werewolves to follow his scent and the vampires at Dumort to check the Manhattan borders. Ask the warlocks to monitor all portal activity out of the city.”
She looked at her mother, who had a solemn expression on her face. She smiled at Selena and gave her a nod.
“You heard her,” the Consul barked. “Jace, talk to Lily. Clary, alert Maia. Max, inform the spiral labyrinth. Everyone else team up with the downworlders and look for Rafael. Nobody goes to sleep until we find my son.”
YAS BITCHES, NOW WE TALKIN
Selena walked up to Magnus and put her hands on the warlock’s shoulders.
“Magnus,” she said gently. “We’re going to find, Rafael. I promise. But we need your help. Can you please help us?”
She felt him relax beneath her fingers and the ground beneath her feet relaxed as well.
“We have to find him,” Magnus whispered.
“We will,” Selena promised. “We will get to say goodbye this time.”
agreed, unless he isn't alive already
They were holding onto each other.
No. They were clinging - as if they were each other’s life support.
is it weird that i've always wanted rafe as my parabatai
Rafael should be here right now.
Not just his body. But Rafael. All of him.
Someone had taken Rafael away, and it was her job to find them.
MURDER MURDER MURDER MURDER-
“There is just so much going on,” Selena sighed. “David dying. Then Rafael being dead. Now Rafael being missing. My father going to Idris. Me going to Idris.”
everything going on in this pain of a fic summed up in less than 20 words.
"The faeries have found some herbs that could help Helen,” Uncle Kit replied. “It’s not slowing the progression of the illness, of course. But it is apparently taking away the pain."
YES YES FAERIES GO!
She didn’t want to talk about Gabriel.
She didn’t want to think about Gabriel.
Their stupid face. The way their stupid hair was always all over the place.
And god, that stupid fucking grin.
It was easy not to think about Gabriel because they were not around much. So, Selena often forgot about them.
She had taught herself to forget about them.
Because thinking about Gabriel felt like cheating on Michael.
Which was stupid, of course.
Michael and Selena...They were just friends – or something like that. She didn’t know what they were, but she knew Michael meant everything to her.
Gabriel...Gabriel was just stupidly hot.
That’s it.
It was just sexual attraction. It was because of hormones or something.
She didn’t even like Gabriel as a person. You need to know someone to like them.
nope. NOPE.
this isnt happening. no.
i absolutely hate gabriel. they set off all the alarm bells in my head. not mention i do NOT trust them. no. u aint shipping selena and slinky ol' gabe.
Gabriel can fuck off.
hell fucking yeah. gabriel can fuck right off.
“Because they are a big p-”
She froze outside the training room. Amira let out a little sigh.
Gabriel was inside the training room, wearing sweatpants and a loose tank top. Their short chestnut hair was pulled back by a headscarf. A couple of loose strands that were probably as unruly as Gabriel had managed to escape and were falling over their face.
Gabriel was hanging from a rope and practicing their balance. Selena hated how much they were good at it.
...no NO THIS ISNT HAPPENING NOOOOO-
Gabriel would probably be the outcome if her father and Magnus had a baby.
Heartbreakingly beautiful, annoyingly graceful, and eternally smiling.
And of course, a reckless lunatic.
fuck no.
“Remember who they are,” Selena cleared her throat. “They are a capitalist. We do not stan.”
YAS WE DO NOT.
“But they are hot,” Amira countered. “We stan!”
AMIRA NO, PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IS NOT ALL THAT MATTERS.
“Amira!” Selena scoffed. “What happened to eating the rich?”
“That statement has multiple connotations,” Amira pointed out and walked into the training room.
AMIRA NO-
“Amira!” they smiled at her friend, turned to Selena and gave a solemn bow. “Your highness.”
Selena rolled her eyes. Sometimes it felt like Gabriel only existed to annoy her.
pls u two, dont ruin the enemies to lovers trope for me 😭😭😭
People had started flirting with Selena and making passes at her when she had turned all but ten.
OH HELL NO, U DONT
“Why don’t you give the poor punching bag a break and fight me?’ Gabriel grinned.
I HATE U
She picked up her long curls, twirled them into a bun. Then she grabbed a stiletto from her ankle and put it through the bun to keep it steady.
A trick aunt Izzy had taught her.
YESSSSS BADASS SELENA
... [Cue me reading the entire fight scene.]
oomph, i guess Slinky Ol' Gabe has that decency to back off when Selena said no.
that's it for for this ch! i'm tired smh

“Warrior”
Awwwwww SHIT. She cannot be stopped, folks.
So I thought about making this an Epilogue to “Helpless”, but I MIGHT turn it into a sequel, if that’s something you guys want. I have so many ideas!!!
Anyway, here is a “Helpless” SEQUEL ONE SHOT as of now.
TBH I love it so much. I was listening to the song and I just couldn’t get this idea out of my head. OH RIGHT, if you haven’t heard Demi Lovato’s “Warrior”, listen to it now. And/or as you read this. I listened to it the entire time I wrote it. Hell I’m still listening to it. LOL.
“Please, Liv?”
Barba was begging his best friend, on his knees in his own office.
“This is ridiculous, Rafa. You’re a grown man. Stop begging,”
“Then promise you’ll do it,”
“I..wha...WHY do you need me to take your girlfriend out?”
“Look she just went through a traumatic event--”
“Um it was pretty traumatic for me too, if you couldn’t tell,”
“Right. I know...Liv, you know I love you,” He put a hand on her shoulder. “But she ALSO lost the one person in the world that she’s had for most of her life. She has no one now,”
“She has you, obviously,”
“Well yeah sure she has me, but I--I can’t be her whole world. She needs friends. And she doesn’t meet anyone because she had to quit her job at Fazzoli’s. So she’s just been my Personal Assistant for the past month until she can find something else, and she’s just…. around, ALL the time,” He explained the past month of your lives.
“Sounds like you’re getting sick of your little hustler,”  Liv chuckled.
“DON’T, call her that.” Rafael warned her.
“Why? It’s what she did,” Liv scoffed.
“Olivia...look,” Rafael rubbed his temples. “You are my best friend in the entire world, and I love you. But you have GOT to let this little...grudge against Y/N go,”
“Grudge? What-- She--” Olivia protested, but Rafael cut her off.
“Whatever happened, it’s in the past. We’re putting it behind us, and so should you,”
“Whatever….” Olivia rolled her eyes.
“If you want to keep being my best friend,”
“Is that a threat?”
“It’s a plea, once again,” He took her hand. “If you truly love me, you will help me help her,”  He gave her those puppy dog eyes, the ones she could never resist, even if she wanted to.
“Oh that is DIRTY, Barba,” She pushed him away with her hand over his face.
“Again though, I don’t know what you want me to do. She obviously doesn’t think we’re going to be friends, and all of my friends are your friends-- also, they’re all adults,”
 “She’s an adult,”
“....Sure she is,”
“OLIVIA,”
“Okay okay, I just...Oh you know what, I could ask Lucy if her and her friends want to come,” She picked up her phone and flipped through it.
“See? You’re brilliant,” Rafael smiled.
“Whoa there counselor, I’m not sure how excited she is going to be to drag her friends out with her BOSS, her friends and your pet---girlfriend,”  She quickly corrected herself, but Barba heard it anyway.
“You’re unbelievable,” He sighed.
“Look I said I would ask her, I didn’t say it would be happy about it,”
“Alright, alright,” He nodded. “Thank you, Liv,”  he gave her a small hug then she turned to walk out.
“Don’t make me regret this,” She eyed him. Just then, you came up behind her in the doorway.
 “Regret what?”
“Uh...my lunch plans, Rafael suggested a place I haven’t tried,” Olivia pushed her hair behind her ears nervously, looking everywhere around you but your eyes. Classic lying tells, but you really didn’t want to deal with her stuff right now so you left it alone.
“Oh, well have fun detective!” You gave her a cheery smile as she walked out of the office. You handed Rafael one of the two coffees you had brought in.
“Fuel for my baby,” You smiled, kissing him on the cheek. You could see the screaming behind his eyes when he smiled back at you.
“...What?” you raised an eyebrow.
“What, what?” he asked, acting oblivious.
“Rafael, you know I know something is off,”
“Wha… no, not--” he started but you gave him a knowing look. “You said you weren’t going to do that anymore, Y/N,” he was suddenly stern, referring to using your ‘superpower’.
“And I told you, I can’t turn it off!” You reminded him, you had said it in your very first conversation.
“Okay but you can...y’know pretend you don’t see things,” he pointed out.
“Or, you could just tell me why your eyes are screaming for help right now,” you crossed your arms.
“Wha--that--Good lord,” He sighed, taking a swig of his coffee.
“I’m around too much, aren’t I?” You finally stated the obvious, tired of ignoring it anymore.
“No! No no no…” He put a hand to your face. Overly repetitive denial, meant yes.
“I’m sorry, I can’t help it. I don’t have anywhere else to be,” You bit your lip and looked down at the floor. You hated being this helpless, relying on him for everything. Ever since he had left the hospital, you’d moved in with him and took care of him while his shoulder healed. And then when he went back to work, you told him you had to quit working at Fazzoli’s because it was just too hard to go there every day after everything that had transpired there. You really had tried, but you just kept having flashbacks or panic attacks that Arianna would come walking through the door and take you away again.
Rafael was totally understanding, as usual. He told you that you could be his Assistant for the time being, which really just meant you followed him around all day like a puppy. And he was paying you with his salary, so he was basically just giving you money. You hated it; you were used to being completely independent-- sort of.
Sure Arianna ‘protected’ you, but it wasn’t like you were a baby bird. You had been through so many horrific things in your short life, all on your own. You knew how to survive in the mean streets of NYC, making your own money. You were like a bulldog, and now you were a lap dog.
“Hey,” Rafael picked your head up back to face him. “I know. I’m not blaming you for anything,”
“But you are sick of me,”
“I just...I think you need more people in your life, that’s all,” he stroked your hair.
“Yeah, I know,” you shrugged.
He was right, but you weren’t used to having more than one person looking out for you, or vice versa. You didn’t really know what it was like to have a normal friend, and your serious trust issues really didn’t help the situation. Rafael had tried to get you to go to therapy to work through your “issues”, but you didn’t trust your therapist, which made the whole thing moot.
“...Wait, so what were you actually talking about with Liv?”
“She told you, I was--”
“Can we not do this again,” You rolled your eyes.
“....Alright fair enough,” He sighed, giving up. “I asked Olivia if she knew of any girls that might want to ‘hang out’ with you,”
“Oh my god, Rafa!” You were humiliated.
“God now I’m like that weird kid in class who eats paste, and her parents have to to talk to the teacher who makes the other kids be her friend,”
“....That’s a weirdly specific scenario,” he raised an eyebrow.
“...Yeah, well-- not my first time,” You shrugged sadly.
“Aw honey,” He half laughed, taking your into his arms and kissing your forehead. “I would’ve been your friend, no matter what you ate,”
“Yeah well considering you were probably in high school when I was in elementary, I doubt it,” You smirked.
“Ooof, below the belt,” He put both hands over his crotch with a pained expression.
“I’m sorry,” you stuck your tongue out with a smile. “But you kinda deserve it, trying to beg people to be my friend,”
“I didn’t BEG…” He started, but saw that look in your eyes. “Okay but it worked,” He came clean.
“Oh Olivia and I are gonna have a girls night? Are we gonna braid each other’s hair and talk about boys we like? OH WAIT,” You made sarcastic gestures. “We like the same boy!” You rolled your eyes.
“I mean, I can’t blame you. He’s pretty awesome,” He smirked.
“And so not full of himself,” You pulled on his collar towards you.
“Not at all,” He kept smirking, as he placed his lips over yours.
Just then Barba’s phone vibrated-- a text from Liv.
 “KARAOKE NIGHT. TONIGHT. 8PM,”
“Uh….well, I guess you might be right?” He showed his phone. It vibrated again, another text came in as your were reading it.
“LUCY AND FRIENDS, YOU BETTER BE THERE TOO. I’M NOT A BABYSITTER,”
“Well, she is just lovely,” you handed it back to him with a roll of your eyes.
“Hey, at least she’s trying,” he texted a reply to Liv.
“Can you try as well? Please?”  He asked you while looking at you with the same puppy dog eyes, Liv wasn’t the only one who couldn’t resist them.
“Fine…” you sighed, and he rewarded you with a kiss.
“I need something to wear,” You batted your eyes, to which he rolled his own and pulled out his credit card.
“See? I’m leaving you alone, it’s working already!” You giggled, walking out of the office to go shopping.
------
That night, you and Rafael showed up to a place called TOP5.. It was a fun, trendy hipster  restaurant. There were several booths, some tables, even a few couches for people to chill. And in front of everything was a huge stage, with a piano next to it. But there was also a DJ, spinning records.
Rafael noticed Olivia waving to him; he lead you to a giant half booth half table where Olivia, Rollins, Fin, Carisi, and four young girls you had never met before sat with drinks in their hands.
“How did you get these guys out?” Rafael gestured to the squad.
“I asked them nicely,” She smiled.
“Yeah, if ‘nice’ means  it was either this or catching up on paperwork all night,” Fin rolled his eyes.
“This is Lucy, my nanny,” Olivia pointed the young girl next to her, who gave a small wave.
“And these are my friends Riley, Lexi and Brianne,” Lucy pointed to each of her friends, who also did a wave as they heard their name.
“Rafael Barba,”  he nodded to the girls. “And this is my--”
“Y/N,” You interjected, introducing yourself. You were determined NOT to just be “Rafael’s Girlfriend” anymore.
“So we were looking through some songs, I don’t think anyone’s brave enough to go up there though,” Lexi informed you, gesturing to a huge black binder in front of her and her friends.
“More like not drunk enough,” Lucy laughed.
“Hey we can fix that!” Brianne giggled, calling for shots from the bar.
“Great idea Barba, it’s like we’re chaperoning,” Amanda whispered to Rafael, who rolled his eyes and nodded to a waiter for a scotch.
“May I?” You asked Riley, sliding the book in front of you. You flipped through a binder, until a song stood out to you. It was like it was screaming to you from the page.
You had heard so many “therapeutic” mantras over the past month, people trying help you get over your trauma. Talk it out, they said. You need to get it out.
Well, this was one way.
You excused yourself and walked up to the DJ, whispered something to which he nodded, and went to the mic.
“Alright alright, looks like we have our first vict--I mean, superstar!” He joked. You seriously thought about punching him in the face for using “victim” as a joke, but you knew that was the trauma talking. And you were to fix that, not indulge it.
The music started, and you just let the words spill out:
This is a story that I have never told
I gotta get this off my chest to let it go
I need to take back the light inside you stole
You're a criminal
And you steal like you're a pro
All the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
So ashamed, so confused
I was broken and bruised
Thoughts of you and Arianna’s life together ran through your mind like a movie montage as you sang. The words were so scary accurate.
Now I'm a warrior
Now I've got thicker skin
I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get in
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me again
That first chorus felt like you were letting out a huge breath you had been holding in for God knows how long. You wanted Olivia, Rafel, the squad...EVERYONE to know, that you weren’t this helpless little lamb they had seen for the past month.
Out of the ashes, burning like a fire
You can save your apologies
You're nothing but a liar
I've got shame, I've got scars
But I will never show
I'm a survivor
In more ways than you know
'Cause all the pain and the truth
I wear like a battle wound
So ashamed, so confused
I'm not broken and bruised
Now the flashbacks of the real trauma you had been through came pulsing through your mind. Horrors that still kept you up at night; you’d have night terrors sometimes but had hidden them from Rafael so far. He didn’t need to know just how fucked up you truly were. None of it mattered now anyway, you were a survivor. And you had the scars to prove it.
 'Cause now I'm a warrior
Now I've got thicker skin
I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get in
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me
 There's a part of me I can't get back
A little girl grew up too fast
All it took was once, I'll never be the same
Now I'm taking back my life today
Nothing left that you can say
'Cause you were never gonna take the blame anyway
You thought of everything Arianna had taken from you. Sure your childhood was shit, but you were fairly young when she convinced you to run away with her. You could have stayed in your small town, found a decent job. Lived a normal life, with normal friends. But she sucked you into your life of crime and deceit, all while telling you it was perfectly fine, and that she loved you. But it was all bullshit, all of it. You saw that now. And now if she ever came back into your life and tried to convince you of anything, you wouldn’t fall back into her lies.
You took a breath before the last chorus, suddenly feeling your face getting wet. You realized you had started crying while you were singing, but for some reason you weren’t ashamed of it. It actually made you feel stronger, like letting your tears wash the pain and shame from yourself.
 Now I'm a warrior
I've got thicker skin
Now I'm a warrior
I'm stronger than I've ever been
And my armor, is made of steel, you can't get in
I'm a warrior
And you can never hurt me again
You finished the song in a whisper as your head dropped to looking at the floor. You were exhausted from the mental journey that song had taken you on. You had never felt so...free. Before you could even look up, the room erupted in applause.
You lifted your head to see everyone in the room giving you a standing ovation...even Olivia, who you could swear had tears in her eyes.
You gave a sheepish smile and a curtsy, quickly getting off the stage and returning to your booth, where not a face was dry.
“...Aww, guys...,” You didn’t know what to say; you had never been that open and vulnerable to ANYONE before, and here you had gone and ripped your soul open in front of a group of strangers.
“That was--”
Olivia came around and hugged you, a genuine hug. It lasted uncomfortably long, so you had to break it with a confused smile.
“I’m sorry I judged you,” She apologized, and you saw the absolute sincerity and guilt written all over her face.
“It’s fine, if I were you I would’ve judged me too,” you gave her an understanding smile.
She nodded, giving Rafael an apologetic look as well, to which he took her hand and pulled her into a hug.
“So, who’s next?!” You smiled, pushing the binder to the middle of the table. Protests and laughs began at the table, bickering about who was drunk enough to follow you.
Rafael leaned over to you, whispering in your ear over the noise of the crowd.
“You’re the bravest warrior I know, Y/N” He wiped tears from his eyes, kissing your cheek.
“Yes. Yes, I am,” you smiled, wiping the rest of his tears as you kissed him.
And for the first time maybe ever, you believed it.
