charles watching his wife and daughter at his interview in the fanzone today, and then as soon as Alia got fussy and they began to walk away he was super serious, keeping his eye on them. at one point a few fans got a bit too excited and you should have SEEN how upset he was, he left the stage and made sure security attended to his family until he could get to them and make sure they were safe.
remember they are people too and there is no excuse for the behaviour shown today towards the leclerc family.

Stucky, Fandom Longevity, and "Primacy Bias"
There’s this post that's been floating around the past few days about how the Stucky fandom in its heyday produced fic and art masterpieces like they were all collectively possessed by an unprecedented spirit of creative insanity. It’s a good, fun post and I agree with the person who wrote it. (not rb'ing because I didn't want to hijack their post with something that's only tangentially related).
It was indeed a magical time and the creative output in both quantity and quality in the two-year period following the release of CA:TWS is—with perhaps a few exceptions—unmatched by anything that I’ve seen before and since. However, going through the notes on that post, I noticed something that left me a little irritated and quite frankly sad since it is in congruence with, and to a certain extent the confirmation of something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.
For one thing, there are so many people in the notes expressing sentiments along the lines of “it was such a wonderful time; I wish I could go back; I miss these fics; I want to read these fics again,” etc., etc., you get it. And it feels a little silly pointing this out, but…you can just do that? Almost all of these fics are still right there, waiting for you to be (re)read. Yes, a lot of people left the fandom after The Great Devastation of 2019, but their stories didn’t just disappear. It's not like there is now a big, black hole where the Steve/Bucky tag used to be on AO3. So, if you miss these fics and you want to revisit them—just do it. Chances are the authors will be delighted that people are still finding and enjoying their stories all these years later. And—since apparently this needs saying, too, judging from the notes on that post: A lot of people seem to be very concerned with losing ‘coolness points’ for openly admitting that they still miss the ship and often feel tempted to dip their toes back into the Stucky pool. I don’t know how to tell you this, but if someone tries to shame you for simply enjoying or missing something, they are an asshole. Not to mention that all this is happening on tumble.com—'coolness' doesn't exactly live here. And that is a good thing, to be clear. Fandom is not about being cool. It’s about being as enthusiastic, as silly, as absolutely fucking unhinged about the things you love as you want to be. So, stop caring what other people think and enjoy yourself.
The other thing is that there seems to be a pretty widespread misconception that the Stucky fandom hasn’t produced any good fanworks after 2016.
First, that is patently and demonstrably untrue. There is so much incredibly good fanfiction and fanart still out there. Not as much as back in the day, sure, but it still exists. And more is being posted every day! Even some of the OG Big Names are still around. One of the most beloved Stucky series that started all the way back in 2014 was updated as recently as December of last year. The artist, who I believe the op is referring to as creating ‘baroque’ paintings, posted their latest Stucky art not even two months ago.
Second, I find this “primacy bias” more than just a little insulting to the many hardworking and incredibly talented people who are still putting their blood, sweat, and tears into creating for this community. And it’s one thing if people who have long left the fandom believe or say something like this, but it’s frankly irritating when I see people who are still very much active—and therefore definitely should know better—feed into that same false myth. Yes, it sucks that the Stucky ship isn’t as big as it used to be, but that doesn't mean there isn't any 'fresh talent' to be found anymore. I’m also not saying we shouldn’t still celebrate and recommend older works—I do it all the time! And it sure as hell doesn't mean everyone has to reblog absolutely everything all the time, either. Your blog, your rules.
But maybe we should put a little more focus on the good things, on the creators and the community we have now, especially if we want that community to still exist in another ten years. I mean, imagine you’re a person who’s just gotten into the fandom (because yes, there are indeed still new people discovering Stucky all the time) and one of the first things you’re being told is “eh, nice that you're here, but you’re about 7 years late; the big party is already over.” Does that seem like a fun space to hang out in to you?
So. Let’s all—and I do not exclude myself from this because God knows, I love to complain—spend a little less time mourning the ‘good old days’ that are never coming back anyway, and instead focus our attention on enjoying and appreciating both the incredible treasure chest of an archive we have AND the wealth of high-quality art and fic that is still being created by this wonderful community every single day. With this in mind:
🥳🎊Happy Stucky Week 2023!!! 🎊🥳
*I want to make it very clear that this is a general thing that’s been on my mind lately and that I’m trying to work through here—probably not very coherently. I'm not trying to tell anybody 'how to do fandom' and I’m most definitely not vagueposting about any particular incident, person, or group in this fandom. This isn’t a callout post. It’s an I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this and I don’t know what else do with them post.

Thoughts on NATLA so far (up to ep 5)
I'm really loving it!!! There are some parts where the pacing gets a bit slow but it makes up by hitting you out of left field with the feels.
Episode 4 is my favorite so far.
I absolutely LOVED this rendition of Sukka. What bisexual disasters, the pair of them.
ON THE FIRE NATION:
I absolutely LOVE the background story on the fire nation family, particularly the bond between zuko and iroh. It is presented completely different than in the OG, since the 'show don’t tell' of the original happens in Book 2 and here they use flashbacks, but it works. Still ended with me in waterworks. Also, I understand the logic behind showing all of the cards from the very get-go being that Netflix can cancel the show before it is renewed for another season, so it needed to make the best impression possible, show all the stakes but not reveal them in ther completion. I think they did that very well so far.
ZUKO IS SO AWKWARD I LOVE HIM
his expressions and reactions are just peak comedy. He is the embodiment of "😫😟" and I love that for him.
Dallas' performance is definitely one of my highlights.
ON KATARA AND SOKKA:
The thing that is the most foreign to me so far is the decision to improve Sokka's emotional stakes at the expense of Katara's. I like it but this has to be the element where the adaptation departs the most from the og. Like, in the cartoon it is Katara who bears the brunt of the responsibility taking care of the water tribe and her brother, which is why Sokka's sexism as a character flaw worked there. I can see now why they chose to drop that. With the script flipped like this, with Sokka being the main caretaker and provider between him and Katara, making him stay sexist would've been a bit too much. It is very different, but I like how they flipped the script between them.
What I did not like about this flip is that the change seems to affect Katara's character for the worse. She is not as outspoken or short-tempered as she was in the cartoon. It's almost the complete opposite. But I can definitely see the shyness and insecurity being the deliberate starting point of her arc. Now in ep 5, you can see her becoming more confident both in personality and bending. I think this was a conscious decision, but I still wish she had been written to be more headstrong from the very beginning.
That being said, I really appreciate how different the dynamic between Sokka and Katara is. I love how Katara is trying to get her independence while Sokka is still caught on the fact he has to be her protector, almost parent figure, which is a cool change of pace. One of the things that kinda bothered me as a young girl watching Avatar was that Katara was always stuck being the mom and sort of getting teased for it despite the fact no one else could or wanted to step up to that responsibility. It's cool to see Sokka bearing that responsibility as the eldest in the adaptation.
ON THE BLATANTLY MISSING KATAANG
You know, I don't hate this change. Aang and Katara's interactions are still pretty wholesome, and once they start catching feelings for each other, it will be super cute because you see where the love is truly coming from. It's not just Aang's childhood crush/Katara's "destiny", as it was presented it the cartoon. Besides it would have looked a little weird, considering that the age gap between Gordon and Kiawentiio is way more obvious on screen than it is right now when you see the interviews with the cast, because that kid Gordon is growing up SO fast.
OVERALL:
I am enjoying it very much! The adaptation is excellent. Despite some changes being quite big, they managed to capture most of the show's essence. I do believe it could have benefitted from a bit more balance between the comedy and the seriousness, particularly when it comes to Aang because he is mostly just weighted down by his responsibility in the adaptation, I don't see him joke as much, but in general and all limitations considered, I think they did an excellent job! It won't be for everyone, for sure, but I can say it has managed to bring back that feeling of watching the show for the first time again on some parts :)

Hey i just found yr blog and im in deep regret that why wasn't i able to do that beforeT_T, anyways i enjoyed your comics VERY VERYmuch, i was deeply enthralled by naruto fox au, i checked out your ocs as well and the childish relationship between kakashi and kenshi was my favourite, iwas just assuming if you could draw them more with their bickering (i love themmm)and about kenshi , her story is not clear to me, maybe i missed something while checking out yr blog ...
Thank you :D Kenshi is my beloved little Uzumaki, you can find stuff about him these tags for him and his team :)
Abiut his story/background -> His mother Tamako travelled around a lot after the fall of Uzushio and settled in Konoha when she found out she was pregnant. Kenshi was born and raised by her until she passed (he was 7), then he was pretty much adopted by Ashi's father, Inuzuka Kita. Kenshi, Ashi and Uchiha Sho become a team under Aburame Shinichi.
After this point there are a few different paths I took with these characters, originally all of them but Kenshi would die by the time the og Naruto timeline starts. But that was making me sad so I switched to a happy version where everyone lives :) Kenshi gets his own genin team too in the future (with Kaen, Miyu and Naoki).
The thing with Kakashi is that he had a crush on him when they were kids, but after the Kyuubi attack Kenshi was very hurt (losing the last of his clan, originally his teacher died that night too, being denied Naruto's care, and just all the tragedy that it was) and Kakashi still went against him, insisting on following Hiruzen's orders, so Kenshi snapped at him and their relationship took a dark turn. Only around shippuden era they would get around talking it out.
And the fun thing is, they are both very strong shinobi with powerful skills and yet when faced with an "ally" they simply don't get along with... they turn to the pettiest, silliest, most (usually) harmless antics possible <3

Ok I am in rant mode again, sorry, this blog just happens to be a place where I dump all my thoughts negative and positive both, unfortunately for all who follow me. But I have seen some bad and incorrect takes from anti darkling/darklinas. So here’s just a few things I want to say.
Firstly LB has never stated that she based the darkling on her ab*sive ex. This is misinformation that was spread by antis. The only thing she has ever said about an ab*sive relationship was that she wrote the first book, Shadow and Bone, at a dark time in her life right after she had got out of a bad relationship. She has said in the past that the darkling was inspired by every bad boy she’s had a crush on in fiction including david bowie’s the goblin king.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it seems from these comments like the character was supposed to emulate those types of characters that woman find attractive, the ones you would fall for.
I’ve also seen the argument that LB clearly wrote the darkling as a villain, well LB might disagree with you there as she herself has said on multiple occasions that she doesn’t write villains:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LB says that the darkling believes he is doing the right thing and that ‘you can make a case for most of the choices he makes, even the despicable ones.’ So if LB says that she doesn’t write villains and that you can make a case for his actions you can’t really blame darkling fans for doing the same.
The truth is LB promoted the heck out of both the darkling and darklina (or as it was known back then Darlina and Alarkling) when she was writing the og trilogy, even admitting to ‘fanning the flames’ when talking about people shipping m*lina and darklina and was clearly encouraging the shipping of both ships:
Tumblr media
She also put out teases for the darkling and darklina:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And promoted darklina fan edits even using the ship tags:
Tumblr media
It was only post the release of book three that she changed her tune, likely because of all the backlash she got about the ending of the books. So no LB wasn’t always against fans shipping darklina or liking the darkling. All of this information is easily found with a simple google search, I wasn’t even in the fandom back then being a show watcher first and yet I was still able to learn all of this with minimal difficulty.
Which brings me to the whole darklina being an allegory for a older man manipulating a younger girl and how the darklina fans ‘missed this’. Well if they did miss it then it was for a very good reason, but the truth is darklina’s didn’t miss it, we just didn’t think it made sense within the narrative, the darklina fandom have talked about it, myself included, in fact I’ve already posted a whole pretty much essay on the topic. But let me explain why some people may have ‘missed it’ and why it doesn’t work in the story or with darklina as the allegory. The first is because LB chose to use an immortal/immortal couple for this allegory. The thing with immortality in fiction, especially as love interests, is it makes age pretty much meaningless. The whole point of immortals is that they are ageless. Immortal ships have always been accepted within fiction and this whole age gap issue has never come up before. Nobody was going omg but the age gap yuck with Bella and Edward when twilight came out, or when Magnus and Alec got together in Shadowhunters or with any of the ships in Vampire Diaries. Yet now anti’s are trying to use the argument that the darkling is 100s of years older than Alina and that’s creepy all of a sudden. Sorry but not in my book, an immortal is always going to be significantly older than anyone else what’s the alternative they spend eternity alone, never knowing love? At least with darklina they are both immortal. Another reason why it doesn’t work is because of how the darkling is described in the book, he is said to not look much older than Alina, so in the books he looks like a teenager. So of course people weren’t going to pick up on the older guy/younger girl allegory because the darkling isn’t presented in the books as an older guy. He’s described the same way every other immortal being in every YA book at that time was. It’s also worth noting that I am not sure if LB ever actually said that darklina were supposed to represent a older guy with a younger girl or whether that was something the fandom came up with. I’m not saying she didn’t just that I myself have never seen a direct quote from her that I recall and I wasn’t able to find one. I think the first time I heard of it was when someone sent me an ask about the topic. I know that she has said it was meant to serve as a warning of attractive and charismatic men being able to manipulate young girls but I don’t know that she herself has ever talked about an age gap or specifically mentioned older men?
Another thing that I have been seeing alot of are comments like darkling/darklina fans only like him because he is hot. What bothers me about this is firstly even if that were true and the only reason people liked him was because he is hot, so what? There’s nothing wrong with that, its fiction and fiction is used to escape for a bit, its for enjoyment and entertainment, so if that enjoyment and entertainment comes in the form of staring at the hot guy irregardless of whether they are the hero or villain, let them be. Why are you criticising the way someone enjoys fiction? Sometimes a gal just wants to look at the hot guy. Secondly its just a really irrelevant argument because the darkling is not the only hot, charismatic character in the books or show. M*l is also described as being attractive and charismatic with no shortage of friends and girls, Nikolai is another character that fits that description, so by this argument the only reason M*l fans like him is because he is hot, and the only reason Nikolai fans like him is because he is hot. Thirdly its just plainly not true, whilst I am sure there may be some fans who only like him because he is hot, again nothing wrong with that, most fans like him for a variety of different reasons because he is an interesting and complicated character. As someone who spends a fair bit of time in the darkling/darklina tags the most common reason I have seen for fans liking him is because of his dedication to the grisha, his willingness to fight for the grisha something that he has dedicated 100′s of years of his life too. Personally I like Aleksander/the darkling because he has a sympathetic backstory, because he is fighting for the grisha and when seeing that they had no place to go where they could be free from fear he vowed to make them a safe place, a sanctuary, of course I am going to root for that goal too. I like him because he is complicated and complex and despite being an immortal being who has become deeply effected by past traumas there is still something beautifully human about him, particularly in the show. I also like the connection he has with Alina, the whole yin/yang of it and them being each others balance. I love the complexity and angst of them having this deep connection and pull to each other but also having this anger and sense of betrayal, how they have to try and navigate around having different points of view and seeing the world in a different ways, it makes for a very compelling story and their chemistry in the show is electric. The fact that he is hot is merely a bonus, but even if he wasn’t a conventionally attractive person I would still like his character because of those complexities, because of that connection he has with Alina. But one thing this rant has done is make me curious as to what my other fellow darkling/darklina fans like about the darkling? What drew you to the character? Anyway that’s enough ranting for one day, again my apologies, I am going to go and rewatch season 1 of shadow and bone in preparation for season 2′s release tomorrow...sheepishly shuffles off my soapbox, waving awkwardly.

It may be a few weeks before I start, but I'm probably gonna finally read Worm here soon. May even do a liveread if I feel like it.
I already know several of the major plot points BUT I I'm probably wrong in many places (as I was with Pact).
So before I start, I wanted to write a synopsis of what I think I know about Worm. This way I can refer back to this post and see how much I got wrong, what major things I was missing, etc.
What Worm is About (by someone who hasn't read Worm)
Big picture: there's alien entities called incubators shards who implant themselves in people and give them powers. Powers are triggered by traumatic events and are usually themed to said events. There is also an organization called Cauldron who tries to give powers in a controlled manner. Powered beings are called parahumans.
The main character is Taylor. She has the power to control bugs. She was triggerd by being bullied in high school. She was shoved into a locker full of used tampons and left there. I don't recall if that was the specific trigger event or just one instance of bullying.
She wants to be a hero and thinks of herself as a good, well intentioned person but is so so stupid. She goes out to fight crime, and meets up with teenage villains (called the Undersiders??). Against advice of established hero(es) she goes "undercover" with teen villains.
In doing so she gets deeper and deeper in. Does like bank robberies or some shit that go badly. People die. And so on.
At some point she officially joins heroes and there is a time skip but I don't know if these two things happen together.
Halfwayish through the book there is a big fight with a creature called Levithan in which several characters dies (and apparently the author rolled dice to see who would die, so it was possible even Taylor could have died in that fight).
At some point in the story Taylor kills several people. These include an established hero (Alexandria?) by suffocating her with bugs and also a baby but for the baby she uses a gun.
There is a parahuman with gold skin who was one of the OG parahumans back in the 80s. I don't remember his name but I do remember he is very Dead Wife Man Pain, so let's call him DWMP. DWMP has a fateful conversation with a villain named Jack Slash. Slash convinces him to destroy the world. Maybe alos other realities too?? (or maybe the same conversation is happening on multiple realities with multiple Slashes and DWMPs??)
There's apocalyptic event and Taylor gets someone (Amy/Panacea, I think) to enhance/alter her power so she can jump between realities. She then begins to gather parahumans from differently realities into a team to come together and take out DWMP with the power of teamwork and a giant laser.
They are not able to save the world they are currently on but a portion of Earth's population are evacuated from their current reality to an Earth with no humans where Ward takes place. One of these two earths is called Earth Bet.
Taylor's fate is left ambiguous. She maybe dies, she maybe fucks off to another reality. Maybe she become meguca idk.
Other Notes:
Taylor goes by 3 names: Skitter, Weaver, and Khepri
There a suite of powers called the Alexandrian Package bc they are the ones the parahuman Alexandria has. I think they are flight, semi-invulnerability, and strength (or maybe one of those is energy blasts)
there is a character named Bitch whose power is turning dogs into monster dogs. Media calls her Hellhound to be less controversial and she hates that.
There are sisters named Victoria (Glory Girl) and Amy (Panacea) the former of who is the protagonist of Ward. Amy turns Victoria into a Cronenberg at some point. Their relationship and respective characterizations across both books is a point of great controversy among fans. To put it lightly.
There is a character named Lab Rat who died(?) but he, in the form of one of his clones, comes back in Ward as a guy named Chris.
Browbeat's fate was ambiguous, so him secretly being this or that character in Ward became a meme. Because the author hates fun memes, he went back and changed Worm so BB unambiguously died.

mean girls (2024)
fine. FINE. it is time to discuss mean girls (2024) bc i can't stop thinking about it and i had a severe mean girls the musical phase in 2018 and 2020 two separate times. and also i took notes watching the movie last night. so now you are all subject to hearing them. spoilers, obvi. (under the cut, of course)
i think it should be noted here that i also have Thoughts and Feelings on the bway musical. so if anyone wants to know those... moving on.
it's a movie-musical adapted from the stage musical adapted from the 2004 movie adapted from a BOOK called Queen Bees and Wannabes released in 2002. now that that's out of the way:
the good:
the sets are so much fun in the movie. the musical is like. a few desks and tables and a bed that all move and then. screens. i missed real sets. so much
opening the musical with janis and damien recording the video in the garage and having their narration work like that worked sooooo well. and then of course ending in the garage was very fun.
speaking of janis and damien, these are my favorite versions of janis and damien. auli'i and jaquel KILL IT as janis and damien.
angourie's cady (acting-wise) is really good. really cute and naïve and it feels authentic as a transition from new kid cady to plastic cady.
i also don't mind the changes to apex predator. i think auli'i and jaquel killed it and i think it works! i like the choreo too where everyone is acting animalistic (re: this is Girl World in the og movie) except regina.
avantika and bebe wood are also really great as gretchen and karen. this might be my favorite version of karen. ily karen shetty.
LOVE this version of someone gets hurt. i love regina controlling the atmospehere around her and literally becoming the apex predator. the partygoers don't move unless she allows it, and even planning cady's reaction (which is. gayer than expected) is so good.
CONTROVERSIAL TAKE? i prefer the story behind the pyro-lez thing. i never liked the space dyke story in the musical and i thought it was weird (though i prefer them calling her a space dyke because it's supposed to be mean. ya know)
im saving this for this bullet point bc every other bullet point would've been about but i've been a fan of renee's regina for forever now, so being able to see it outside of broadway and outside of shaky bootlegs is a blessing.
after regina eats shit at the talent show, during the social media montage, you can briefly hear the intrumental version of world burn, and i think thats cool.
SOMEONE GETS HURT (REPRISE) you will always be famous. i am so sorry they didn't put you on the soundtrack
damien on the jazzy will forever be funny. it's better than the og movie. i will stand by this.
also the background/looming beat of world burn like a second after janis gets done singing + the looming threat of regina's revenge is very cool.
OH world burn is very awesome in this bc. duh. of course it is. but what really stands out to me is that it's like apex predator again where everyone is acting like animals and reginas above it all (bc she did this lmao). another thing is the transition between one of the high notes to regina fake crying in mr duvalls office. that was so slay.
the reginald joke is my fave in the whole musical and im so glad they kept it. it makes me giggle every time.
canon lesbian janis imi'ike i love you.
the bad:
i miss all of the songs. give me back It Roars, Where Do You Belong, the entirety of Meet the Plastics, the What's Wrong with Me reprise, FEARLESS! and Whose House is This, More is Better, and Do This Thing!! GIVE THEM BACK TO ME!!! PLEASE!!! OH my god and Stop. jaquel would've blown this out of the water i just know it.
i miss the jokes about mrs george and her boob job. that shit was hilarious.
i don't care for cady's pov in revenge party in this one. those who have seen it Know.
i also miss the "NO! THEY'RE BOTH IN THE COSTUME!" that shit killed me. absolutely hilarious.
the musical (bway edition) actually did cut some of the iconic scenes from the movie, but i think this movie would've benefitted from adding them back in. give me the "we should totally just stab caesar!" line.
i hate Rockin Around The Pole. so fucking much. i hate it in the broadway version and i hated it in this. i hate this song so fucking much.
chris briney. that's all. he's got about as much personality as a wet piece of paper. get a different aaron.
even the broadway musical is like, actually mean. it still pales in comparison to the og movie. this movie could have done a little more to stand out from the actual musical and the og movie. idk. it could've said something. but if you walked into this movie and expected it to say something then that's on you. sorry.
this isn't something that needs to be categorized but i miss cady's inner monologue. it's very obvious in the movie but she's even got these cute little asides in the musical that i WISH they would've kept. like: "it seems kinda bad to spy on someone, but they're the first friends i've got, and i don't want to have none." is so much fun and gives cady so much character and i love it so much. erika henningsen is my favorite variation of cady. she's believable as both nerdy cady and plastic cady. also she's so, so funny. (honestly i think they should've brought her back for cady's songs in this musical. sawry. i don't think they should've replaced angourie bc i really like her cady But.)
another cute and quirky thing that i like from the musical that isn't in the movie (because it would be really hard to pull off) is that mrs heron/mrs george/mrs norbury are all played by the same actress.
anyway that's all i have to say about mean girls (2024). in my (completely unprofessional) opinion, they should've literally just adapted the actual musical script if they wanted to make this so bad. or released a pro-shot with renee as regina and this cast or something. they should've gone all out campy musical with this one instead of trying to market it as a remake bc it's not Really a remake. like it Is but it's Not.
if u read this whole thing thank you. if you saw this post and went "jesus christ" im sorry. i wish i could stop thinking about it, too.

The Real Yugioh Best Friend Characters
Like how Seto Kaiba was the rival prototype, Joey or Jonouchi was the best friend prototype character.
I have seen debates in yugioh gx and yugioh zexal spaces about who is the true rival character (Chazz vs Ryo and Kaito vs Shark). But you don't really see the same debates for the best friend characters. So I want to give my opinion.
First, what are my main characteristics of a BF character?
The protag's soulmate. Someone who shares a deep emotional and/or spiritual connection with the protag. Their stories intertwine.
Someone who is always on the front lines with the protag. Whether in the form of tag duelling, giving tough love encouragement or being a hope to the protag in low points. Brothers in arms.
Someone who is very protective of the protag and vice versa. A friendship where both are willing to die for each other.
Simple enough I hope.
Yugioh DM - Joey Wheeler / Jonouchi Katsuya
No explanation here. No one even comes close to Joey in OG Yugioh.
Yugioh GX - Jesse Anderson / Johan Andersen
Syrus / Sho is meant to be the best friend character to Judai. But he fails on many levels. He is more of a cheerleader type than a true best friend. Syrus hardly helps Judai in anything - in fact, Syrus abandoned Judai in his lowest moment in season 3 (don't care if he was influenced by the curse, the curse only exaggerated existing feelings). It becomes even more laughable when he and that dino guy fight over Judai in season 2. Judai can't count on Syrus when his back is against the wall and if Syrus was more like Joey, Judai would not feel so overwhelmed with everyone depending on him 100%. The exchange students were better friends to Judai in season 3 than Syrus.
Unlike Johan. Judai and Johan are soulmates from day 1. They are equals and they both have a lot of similarities and Johan inspires Judai. When Johan goes missing, Judai's world crumbles and Judai is a madman trying to save him. Not to mention the battle royal with Fujiwara was epic. I did not fully watch GX so I don't know all the Johan and Judai moments but I understand why people ship these two together.
Johan is Judai's true BF, not Syrus.
Yugioh 5Ds - Bruno
I have not fully watched 5Ds but I know the general plotlines. I don't have much of an opinion here. Crow Hogan is supposed to be the best friend and Jack the rival. But I am not impressed much by the Crow and Yusei friendship. Maybe it's because of Crow's late introduction in season 1 and how it felt like Crow and Yusei parted ways before the season began. When I think of Crow, I mainly think of his domestic spats with Jack.
Yusei and Bruno had an instant connection and it was so cute how Yusei was able to geek out with someone. Bruno's death scene still makes me cry on the inside man. Seeing Yusei cry at the end is gut-wrenching :'(
I wish Yusei had a BF like Joey. My main issue with 5Ds is that Yusei is always the one giving - like with Aki and Kiryu. And Yusei's season 1 friends were completely forgotten in favour of the Signers. Yusei deserved better.
Yugioh Zexal - Reginald Kastle / Ryoga Kamishiro
Bronk is supposed to be the BF character. However, like Syrus, Bronk fails to live up to the role for similar reasons. His connection with Yuma lacks any deep impact.
But Shark...Shark is the best. Can I just pause and gush about how much I adore Shark? This dude is one of the best characters in Zexal. Shark is both rival and best friend and I love it! He's like Joey in that he starts off as a bully but Yuma saves him through friendship and camaraderie. Like Yuma did not chase after anyone the way he chased after Shark :'). And my boy Shark is so protective of Yuma. He lost his soul against Kaito, trying to protect Yuma's key. He protected Yuma in the Faker and Mizael fight, getting seriously injured. Shark has Yuma's back people. And the way how Yuma and Shark give each other hope in their lowest moments...oh I love these two so much! And then when Shark is revealed to be Nasch, a Barian, the emotional rollercoaster these two go on. Shark was there at Yuma's side to face Don Thousand and being Yuma's last antagonist was so beautiful. Shark and Yuma are soulmates and Bronk can't even compete.
Shark is Yuma's true BF, not Bronk. And I would argue that Shark is Yuma's true rival, not Kaito. But let's not get into that.
Ultimately, Joey and Shark are my favourite best friend characters. Every guy needs a bro like Joey or Shark in their life. And Bruno actually died for Yusei. The friendships in Yugioh are amazing, so good.

I actually love Lucrecia as a character because despite DOC’s writing, she is still a subversion of the classic, redundant “victimized and martyred mother” trope. I think that is what they had planned in the original drafts, for her to be someone forced into the horrible position of bearing enhanced children, with Sephiroth being one of them.
Usually this trope also has the mother being the sacrificial lamb that dies trying to protect their child, and being a totally selfless angelic Madonna figure with no flaws and their only character trait being their pure, motherly love for their child. Oh and they have no agency. (See: Disney mothers).
Personally, I am tired of this cliche and I love that Lucrecia was someone that was desperate to prove others wrong and had a lot of emotional issues that led her to make horrific mistakes with real consequences. She lost her baby because she chose to trust people that wanted weapons and scientific advancements at the cost of human life. She made that choice and it cost her son.
Her remorse, hopelessness, self-loathing…it is very realistic and believable. To make things worse, she clearly loved her child and had some point where she realized it. She calls him her “dear, dear child” in the OG and dreams of him, she begs to see him, to know what happened to him. All of her laments over her past mistakes are valid and painful
It also makes Seph looking for her all his life even more tragic because his mother did love him and want him, but she was the one that tore them apart ultimately because of her decisions. She’s the one that hurt him by letting his life be violated from the womb. It stabs at the heart so much more than the age-old “my selfless mother sacrificed herself for me and I wish I could still be with her” cliche.
Seph has a missing mother that could have been with him, but she’s not because of every one of the awful circumstances that she brought herself into. They both want and need each other, but it’s hopeless.
Lucrecia made a huge mistake and she and Sephiroth both paid dearly for it. It’s so tragically human and real. I love Lucrecia for her complex story in this way. People should stop just hating on her and try to see the unique aspects of her story.
^^^^ All of this.
It's just a tragedy. A complete tragedy at every angle. But while Lucrecia is despicable, part of me WANTS to see mother and child reunite. Because none of this had to be this way. And their separation from each other is the very thing that kicks all of this into motion.

my introverted ass gets a lil shy about participating in fandom events sometimes lol, but I wanted to give some folks some love for ✨Choices Fandom Shoutout Day!✨
Firstly, to all my moots, but especially @pudb1e @alleykatart @icanmakewords @honeyinadream @scrumptioustimemachinetragedy @aces-and-angels @zhoras-bitch @lilyoffandoms and anyone else i've missed! (chemo brain is a bitch)
ngl, every time you guys like something to do with the Starlight blorbos it makes me giddy. You make this such a warm and joyous place to be with every little interaction -- your joy is my joy, and I'm so glad our shared love of ID and Choices fandom stuff (and hopefully, my writing too!) has brought you all some happiness.
I hope something makes you smile today. You deserve all the happiness in the world and I appreciate you all so much 🌻🌼🌷
I wanted to give an extra special shout out to @jerzwriter for making this fandom such an inclusive and welcoming place -- you are just straight up lovely! I know I barely know you, but you have a generosity of spirit that I really, greatly admire.
[Skip this bit if you want, as I'm touching on heavier health stuff]. I realise I haven't actually got around to posting the fic in question yet (writing takes a lot out of me atm), but I have been frittering away at a piece based on the ask you sent me forever ago, and I really wanted to thank you for taking the time to send that ask in the first place. Not only did it make me feel like I really was a part of the community here, but you actually sent me that ask right before a meeting with my oncologist where I was due to find out whether I had been responding to chemotherapy or not. (I am getting better! ✨🎉) It was a pretty rough morning, and through some truly serendipitous timing, you swooped in and offered me the perfect distraction. I immediately found myself imagining all these soft scenarios and trying to cobble together little plot points instead of fixating on my anxiety; you gave me an escape when I really needed it.
And for me, that's exactly what fandom is all about! That's what fanfic writers and fanartists are so wonderful at achieving with their works; is bringing this refuge of joy and levity and beauty when we need it the most. So, truly, thank you -- not just for the ask that day, not just for all your hard work with @choicesficwriterscreations, but simply for being you and for sharing your stories with the world. You really do bring a light 💛
And through all of this, my OG reader and wonderful friend @freedom-kitty ✨ You've been there since the beginning bringing so much enthusiasm and eagerness and leaving some of the most wonderful comments on my fics that I have ever had the joy of reading. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that you are an absolute GEM and I'm so glad ID brought us together 💖 I have so many of your comments saved to go back and re-read when I'm doubting my own skills, or when I just need a smile (I'm still absolutely cracking up about the Aria the Great saga when I "joined you" on holiday lmao). You are the best ever, and I hope you know it.
Thank you for cheering me on, both in writing and in life with all the bullshit going on this year. You kick ass, lovely, and you should feel awesome about being you 💕
Lastly, thank you so much @choicesfandomappreciation for your hard work and thoughtfulness in hosting such an awesome event!! 🧁🎀 I love seeing events like this!
Sending you all hugs (if you are the hugs sort) and sunshine and warmth (if that's more your jam)
You are loved
You are brilliant
You are capable
You are enough 🌻
all my love,
aria xx

if you could, would you have wanted for 0!yjh to meet dkos even just for a short nice moment (besides the canon one at the very end)? even if he would forget about it all in the end? vahdhv jgdjk how would that even go in your head 🤣
though i know he didnt suffer the way 41!yjh did it'd be so funny to see his reaction since 41 had such a.. memorable one XD i love them dearly. i want them to lose their shit and be down bad for a man they never met lol 41 had not even had an inkling of kdj's existence before yet fainted at what. happiness?? lol. and imagining 0 who knows kdj and has been getting help from dkos seeing his face and talking to him makes me scream
oh. ohhh man yeah ive thought about it although very briefly cuz with the way the 0 storyline is structured leaves a lot of room for imagination but also makes it clear that kdj cannot descend. but let's just say it's not the case, how it would go. maybe they'd meet during constellation banquet. yjh would be invited as seoul's representative, although he has (maybe) no story to inherit and no regression restrains at the time.
in walks kdj. yjh notices. hes rather young and much inexperienced, not exactly hardened by regression depression and still has that light-in-his-eyes so to speak. for yjh I'd say the first meeting would be bordering cute-awkward angle. this is still the guy who was paying for their private midday tryst all the time btw (yes. even during 0th turn) surely there must've been a few dms outside the context of scenario revelations that the two of them shared
for kdj, on the other hand, he'd feel probably sad, maybe even silently cry a little. he misses his own yjh and his own companions too. while 49 was busy having existential dread, 51 was having the time of his life with 0 after all. he succeeded in making him happy regardless where that happiness lead him.
gonna be talking abt side story now
oh 41yjh is still so... the human personification of "the tip of the iceberg" we know nothing about that guy. kdj knows nothing about him. hsy has no idea who he is. kdjs narration about him is both at fault and not at fault at the same time. cuz the og 41st turn isnt even written in twsa to begin with. nor is the 40th turn written either. kdj saw the one short paragraph of 41yjh shutting off his heart during that turn and using his companions for his benefit and ran with it and you cant even blame him cuz thats the only thing tls123 wrote of that turn. hsy mentions at some point during the epilogue that she and yjh (1863rd turn) did talk about events of his past regressions so twsa is not all "hsy's imagination" and yjh also mentions to biyoo that he doesnt remember the 41st turn so what if it was 1863yjh the one who told hsy that exact paragraph?? thoughts like these keep me up at night
and contrary to kdj's narration and lhh's fears, 41 isnt actually a monstrous existence. he cares for people and helps them. he loves people and people love him in return just as much. he is confused this time around though I'll give him that much. there are strange people around him. people who know him and the scenarios. people who keep mentioning this guy named kim dokja so much even he gets curious about him. most importantly his "archenemy" of the previous round is *gasps* not evil anymore. he knows something is going on just is far away from finding out what exactly.

HI IM HERE TO RANT ABOUT CHALICE OF THE GODSSS
OKAY SO I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SAID THAT THERE WASNT ENOUGH FIGHTING AND BATTLES AND ALL THAT BUT. THAT ISNT PERCYS LIFE RN SO I THINK IT MAKES SENSE?? AND HIS FIGHT WITH OLD AGE WAS KINDA LAME BUT I THINK THATS THE POINT...?
ALSO: GROVER NEEDS TO BE PART OF THE TRIO BETTER :( I FEEL LIKE HE DIDNT HAVE AS BIG OF A ROLE BECAUSE PERCY AND ANNABETH ARE DATING WHICH IS LIKE COOL AND ALL BUT THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS IMPORTANT TOO!!
and yeah! your thoughts? (sorry i know this is a lot to dump on you but i saw you reply to my post :D)
OMG HI!!!!
Missing fight scenes actually makes sense since they are older and more capable of taking down monsters. Also this was supposed to be more like a crack book, where they just hang out as teenagers, without more trauma XD
I agree on that old age thing, it was kind of cheesy? But still, made me smile. And tear up 👉👈 They are my kids, thinking of them getting old-
About Grover, I think it would link with the other books because on Read Riordan we know Grover is very sad because he thinks they gonna leave him- I think in next books Percy and Annabeth would realize this and show him that he is wrong :) In toa they left for college all together, Grovar was with them. I think like he would be left alone at Hecate's house since both of them would be in school and maybe we would see his feelings- They are all just guesses tho XD
Other than that, their dynamics were everything! I mean there was almost nothing serious about it and I laughed at every page. Percy's pov are everything and I MISSED it sooo much! The titles too! The new characters are very good too, minor gods( Hebe, Iris, that Lake god, GANYMADE) their were amazing! Them turning to 8 years old babies by Hebe! Omg I LOVED IT. Humor and fluff was everything. And my fav scene: Athena catching Percy XD Like I lost it! It was sooo good. Her helping her future son in law, finally accept him because her love for her daughter :) Love them. Zeus's Llama story... Well, lets say I kinda missed them too XD And of course, Sally, Paul, Annabeth, Percy acting as a family. Annabeth and Paul's interactions were adorable! Grover banging in for tofu was also hilarious lmao. And he was sad there because it was their last summer :( Sally and Annabeth being close, Sally giving THE NEWS. Baby Estelle is on the way! Percy's reaction, also being sad because he would miss many of her early life :(
I only had one problem with the book: Lack of physical decriptions. I didn't really understand the reason because like in every book we had at least one page of Percy gushing over Annabeth, talking about her gray eyes etc. Grover and the gods same too. I mean, this made me a little sad because I really wanted to know what they look like, I am into imagining while reading. I mean, Rick changing the descriptions with the show ones or something? Don't get me wrong I adore the show and the cast but I really think they should have their own canon timelines ❤
Other than that, I can easily say it was now my fav pjo book. I mean I teared up with happiness, nostalgia I felt... I love OG trio more than anything 🥲 I can't wait for the next book-
Thank you so much for the dump, it made me soooo happy ^^ I never miss a change to discuss my fav books with the fans ❤

The Defense of Steven Universe’s (OG Show) Ending
Tumblr media
(This is basically a post where I put everything I said in a large Twitter thread so it’s more easily readable, with maybe a few changes and additions.
Spoilers BTW)
So I’ve been drawing a lot of stuff lately and in doing so, I’ve been rewatching a lot of old shows I used to watch and finishing whatever I missed out on. Steven Universe was an interesting one, as I recall having some form of obsession with it as a kid on Google+, however I barely remembered watching a lot of it or if I even watched it on TV or on websites like Kisscartoon. And after doing so,
I barely see the hate for it that it’s gotten for years.
It has its flaws, and issues that have plagued the show outside of what’s within it, but it’s no doubt memorable with a great cast of characters and very unique and fascinating lore and story telling. Now, I don’t wanna really get into a whole deep dive review on the whole show, as even though I’ve made a couple of essays lately (mainly on Sonic the Hedgehog), I don’t think I’m that experienced to go over an entire 5 seasons explaining each and every episode’s strengths and weaknesses and allat (though maybe I might discuss the amazing character development of each crystal gem in the future, who knows?), rather I want to discuss something that is partially why I started watching this show again: The Ending - Change Your Mind (S5E29).
——————————————
Now, the ending is understandably mixed, I understand the critiques of it being weird and anticlimactic and all and how it doesn’t feel like the diamonds’ actions on gem history was fully acknowledged and been punished for it. I completely get the criticism here and I don’t want to drive away people from making actual critiques on the show and where it could’ve improved upon.
What I mainly want to focus on is the notion that the ending can be summed up to, “Steven forgave Gem Hitler”
That is very incorrect.
See, the whole reason why White Diamond (the “Gem Hitler”) was involved with the story was because after Steven was able to prove to Blue and Yellow Diamond that he’s Pink Diamond, he takes the opportunity to use their stronger powers to restore one of the corrupted gems (Centipede). This works…for a moment, as they’re only restored once all 3 put their healing powers to use, but upon letting go of the gem, they reform back into their corrupted version. With Steven technically being part of the Diamond Authroity, he thinks maybe he can take advantage of his position to be able to speak to White Diamond, the highest gem in the patriarchy, and convince her to come to Earth to help the corrupted gems.
Throughout these last episodes, it’s clear this is all for a demand to help gems that were stuck on Earth. While Steven wanted to just try and talk to White, and convinced Blue and Yellow to express how they feel about how White has handled their civilization, there’s never a point where he’s all like “look inside your heart, please you have so much good in you I can feel it” or whatever. Considering how he had to fuse with the Crystal Gems and team up with others who showed up to be able to fight her mech and barely reach to the top of it to meet her, this whole plan wasn’t really as pacifist as many have made it out to be.
———————————
Sorry to stray off a little but, funny thing is, as much as people make fun of Steven Universe for being a show where characters just talk their feelings out and suddenly everything is good, they acknowledge in one of the episodes that not every gem has this deep trauma or pain they try to hold in.
In the episode, “Stuck Together” he and Lars get caught by Aquamarine and Topaz, they both open up to each other about how no matter what happens, they got each other. This leads Topaz who throughout her introduction has been mute and serious and who has them held hostage, to start crying and vent about how much emotional pain she’s been holding in so much because it’s her job. When Aquamarine finds out she’s trying to help them escape, they desperately start trying to convince her that she’s allowed to open up about whatever she feels, that they’re here to listen and talk.
This is was her reaction.
Tumblr media
And I have yet to watch Future right now, but from what I’m reading, even after a lot has changed since the original show and tons of gems live peacefully with Beach City, she shows up again to get her revenge.
At no point is she ever redeemed in any way.
Tumblr media
———————————
Anyways, the only reason why Steven was able to convince White to do something to corrupted gems on Earth was because he bested her and she couldn’t do anything about it.
Her whole ordeal was how she wants to have this flawless world where nothing goes out of line, even if it means having to mind control them so they act just like her. She views herself as being the perfect gem of all time who knows what’s best for everyone. However, due to how she’s acted with Steven, being an adult gem constantly picking on a literal child because she refuses to accept he’s not Pink Diamond or is part human; how it’s all just a disguise and Pink Diamond is just lying to herself, she’s embarrassed and realizes she indeed does have a flaw. She’s shaken up with guilt over how petty and childish she’s been acting, being exactly what she’s been criticizing Pink Diamond, to the point where she questions who she is. If she’s not this flawless perfect gem who knows what’s best, then what is she? What should she be since throughout her whole life she’s been obsessed with perfection? She can’t be leader of a whole gem civilization trying to make everyone flawless if she herself is flawed. What further solidified it was how she was unable to control Pink Steven no matter how much she tried, and once she started blushing and feeling embarrassed, she lost control on the other gems she had brainwashed. Blue and Yellow even react in disgust/fear seeing her become “off-color” due to her blush, basically for a moment them losing respect for her.
Steven goes up to her and tries to tell her to just, let people be who they are, without trying to “fix” them, and maybe she can be whoever she wants to be. White is still in distraught, wanting to be someone who knows better, be better, and wanting to make everything better, which Steven offers her a way to do so (which is coming to Earth to help the corrupted gems), but first needing to leave your own head - literally and figuratively.
————————————
At no point throughout the ending is White crying about trauma or begging for forgiveness to Steven and having him go “it’s ok we all make mistakes 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰”, all that happens is Steven sees her essentially having an identity crisis now that she cracked and realized she isn’t as perfect as she thought she was, and being the good natured kid he is, offers to show her how she can be a better person, taking the opportunity to make her do what he set out to demand from her. To say they should’ve shattered her would’ve defeated the whole point as to why Steven even went back to Homeworld to begin with, cuz he needed White’s help. Plus, still haven’t watched Future but,
There is a scene where Steven actually attempts to SHATTER White Diamond upon taking control of her body for everything she has done to him, he CLEARLY doesn’t find her to be in the clear of everything she’s done.
Tumblr media
TL;DR They can’t just shatter her cuz she’s the big bad villain, the whole point of the final episodes was Steven needing her in order to restore all the corrupted gems they’ve saved throughout the show. No matter what it took, he was going to find a way to do it. While I do agree that there could’ve been better acknowledgment on everything that she’s done to Homeworld and all, same goes for Blue and Yellow, as they’re immediately relegated to out of touch aunts, to make the massive stretch that this is supposed to be Steven forgiving Hitler or proof that Rebecca Sugar (a Jewish person) is a Nazi apologist…come on bro.
EDIT: I really recommend btw watching this video I recently just viewed discussing the show’s ending and really diving in about the topic of Steven’s identity and White’s identity. It’s informative summarizing a lot of what’s been hinted at and led up to the final episode and goes over stuff I could never even attempt to bring to light with how amateurish I am at this sorta junk 💀
youtube
And even if with everything being said, you still believe in the notion that “Steven forgave Gen Hitler” or whatever, I’m about to bring up an argument so earth shattering that it will make you re-evaluate everything you know about the show. So, here it goes:
IT’S A FUCKING PG CARTOON SHOW
———————————
Listen, I know it’s very cliche to use the, “it’s a kids show it’s not that deep!!” argument or whatever idiots say to avoid people from discussing further about their favorite things, especially in an era where many are pushing the “Animation is Cinema” phrase and proving its not just kiddie shit only babies like, but what I mean is
At what point is it crossing the line when making comparisons from a thing in fiction to something in real life?
What makes a great story is how it’s able to draw connections to realistic issues or problems many face with unique metaphors and analogies and all of that, Steven Universe is no different. However, at what point are the metaphors or references to real life supposed to stop? At what point does it become stretching really hard? I can understand how people have had ideas that “fusion is a metaphor for sex” or whatever to some degree.
But going as far as to compare this obviously over the top dictator to the world’s worst man to have ever lived on planet earth who is responsible for the death of millions just because he so happens to also be a dictator, doesn’t that seem so…psychotic to even try to relate when it’s obvious that was never the intention? I mean look at this whole world of the show, it’s a futuristic jewelry space civilization filled with advanced technology and bright colors, how do you look at all of this and first thing that comes to mind is Nazi Germany? How do you look at a giant voluptuous white woman who’s existed for millenniums and think “yea that’s Hitler right there”, all because she’s simply a textbook definition of a dictator?
Tumblr media
Trying to make her whole country this flawless world where no one goes out of line and disallows any form of diversity? Like any typical villain? Is that really all it takes to be considered as “animated Hitler”?
Does that mean the abandoned flawed gems in the abandoned Kindergarten that Steven and Lars met at the very bottom of Homeworld are supposed to be a reference to Anne Frank’s family hiding from nazis? One would say that’s a massive stretch to make and they’d be right, cuz it is…just like what people say about White Diamond.
These kinds of massive stretches and comparisons have been made in the past constantly, and for what? To gang up on a show that just wanted to teach kids the values of showing love and positivity, being there for your friends and families and trying to accept people’s flaws or differences in how they live? To make excuses to be blatantly anti-semetic towards the Jewish person who created this show? All because over shit like the fanbase was infamous at one point for how they treated each other and the show producers or because the ending wasn’t how many wanted it to be or how it debatably pushes the idea of positivity way too much in places where it shouldn’t try to?
At what point do people who criticize this show for it’s apparent farfetched ideologies of being kind to everyone, start sounding farfetched themselves for making these insane leaps in logic to make a blatantly slanderous argument and label on the show? If something like “White Diamond is supposed to be Gem Hitler” is something many easily gave into believing, what kind of fucked up comparisons would people make next about the entirety of Homeworld or gems as a species till these start to sound like psychotic conspiracy theories?
————————————
Steven Universe is no doubt a flawed show, I won’t deny that, will never deny that. As much as I defend the ending and go against how people have slandered the show, I can admit stuff could’ve been done better. However, like I’ve said at the beginning, I fail to see how all the hate the show’s gotten for years has ever been deserved or warrented. It’s clear that even with its flaws in storytelling, pacing, (sometimes animation), there is still so much to love about this show. It’s characters, it’s music, it’s themes, it’s lore, etc. There’s good reason as to why people love and still fondly remember it and consider it to be just as important as the other shows that brought in this renaissance era for Cartoon Network (Gumball, Regular Show, and Adventure Time).
After all, just like what the ending taught people, things aren’t always going to be perfect, and that’s ok. Flaws make things what they are, and unless said flaws actively have negative effects on things, there’s no reason to fight against them so excruciatingly. We may strive hard for perfection and flawlessness, to be considered perfect or for a thing we like to be considered perfect, but at some point, trying to do so much just to achieve said perfection will down the road start to become an issue and affect ourselves and the ones around us, the ones we love.
When you think about it, a lot of what has happened within the fanbase and the critics of the show mimic similar attitude to White Diamond. This want for perfection, for nothing to be going out of line, but all it’s done is damage the show’s reputation to many.
Fans on here long ago harassing an artist for the way they drew one of the characters of the show as she wasn’t in this “perfect” body shape they wanted her in. Or harassing producers of the show for how they’d handle things like (iirc) Lapis and Peridot’s “relationship” because it didn’t match their “perfect” connection between the two, and more.
On the other side, critics like the infamous Lily Orchard blasting the show for not being this “perfectly” told story and going out of her way to make these insane comparisons to have some leverage in this giant attack on the show and what it stands for.
These wild and out of pocket attempts to make everything perfect for the show, and what has it done? It heavily soured how people view the show, making people want to stay away from getting into it as from the POV of the outside looking in, it’s a whole rabbit hole they probably shouldn’t get into…for their sake of their mental health. This mindset to be caught up in selfish outlandish views of what’s deemed as being perfect has only made things worse for everyone on every side of discussion on this show. And while as of lately things seem to be recovering, as more people are giving the show a second chance and realizing how messed up people like Lily Orchard were, still the effects of what happened back in the mid-late 2010s are noticeable in some areas.
——————————
If it gets to a point where we’re fighting a flaw that barely affects anyone, is it really a flaw that is that important or even a flaw at all to begin with? We can strive to be better people and learn from mistakes, but a perfect person who can do no wrong is just impossible.
Flaws are what help make everything feel unique in it’s own right. That’s not to say some flaws can’t be acknowledged and called out, but as for flaws that sum up to “someone/something is different from what I expected”, it seems over the top to go so hard to fight against it, as we’d be fighting against having diversity among each and every one of us.
If every pork-chop were perfect, we wouldn’t have hot dogs.

Looking at old posts, I realized that I don't really post ocs anymore, maybe it's because of how many of them flopped, maybe it's how some were made in gacha club, I'll never know why. . . But that all changes today! I have created a whole batch of ocs just waiting to be posted, most of them I plan writing an actual original story for!! Unfortunately if I'd talk about them, we'd be here all day, so for now, we'll keep it simple!
Everyone. . . Meet Dandelion Cookie🌼✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everything you need to know about her is already in the images, but I'll happily explain some of the newer headcanons I thought up:
• She has a surprising amount of connections all across Earthbread due to being kinda a social butterfly & also helping cookies and their animal friends
• Her father had the dream of opening an animal sanctuary ever since Dandelion was a baby, and thanks to her, they're getting closer to achieving the goal!
• Remember the little cakehound that kicked off the entire story? Well it has a happy home within her father's clinic, and was promptly named Prince!(If you know you, you know) Alongside, there's always Sweetpea, a friendly cockatiel that loves to sing, a bunch of other inhabitants that live in the clinic
• Speaking of singing, Dandelion has an absolutely enchanting singing voice, and often sings to her little animal friends, as motivation or just to make them happy! And if she's really into it, she'll sing and accidentally start a flash mob(So yeah, her and TK would get along XD)
• She actually did go to Beast Yeast once(yeah, no joke-)
• Dandelion is a daddy's girl a hundred percent! Her mother is still very much in the picture, but the two aren't the closest, although Dandelion does like her enough to stay with her when she returns to the Creme Republic
• Dandelion's own dream is to make a better world for beasts, a world where animals & cookies can get along in peace. But right now she isn't too successful. . .
• If a cookie misses a planned vet date or multiple, Dandelion will go out of her way to scold them
• Dandelion Cookie has a mostly positive reputation in the Upper City of the Creme Republic, due to her cheerful & kind hearted nature, and for what she does. As for the Lower City, views are pretty mixed, some are quite fond of her while others find her annoying
• Dandelion's power of having all animals and beasts adore her isn't something she picked up overnight but rather a blessing that was passed throughout her family for generations. The only catch is that only one cookie from each generation can receive this ability at random. In this case, Dandelion's father passed down the ability to her!
• At the back of her hat, there's a blue gemstone broach, presented in a red ribbon. The broach is as old as her family and was given to anyone lucky enough to receive the blessing. Though, it is unknown how their family managed to get their hands on it, it's unknown to them as well. No one seemed to mind or notice it, but those who do always point out one thing. . . Its uncanny color resemblance to Pure Vanilla Cookie's souljam. . .
While writing Dandelion into both the og & Starlight Starbright, I might have accidentally written a love triangle with her & three canon characters(no joke-) So I'll explain:
Clotted Cream: Ever since meeting at 18, Clotted Cream always had the biggest crush on Dandelion. They were originally arranged to be married by House Custard, but that was quickly shut down by both Dandy's parents, to which Custard Cookie protested but failed miserably. Now as proper adults, the two have an amazing friendship, with Clotted visiting Dandy as much as possible. When she returns to the Creme Republic, he helps alongside her in her dad's vet clinic, Crumbs & Critters, usually helping clean or preparing meals for the animals, he never helps with the animals themselves due to fear but Dandy couldn't be more thankful! Of course, she's completely oblivious to Clotted Cream's true feelings, which causes a lot of self-doubt on his end. It leads him to question if he's good enough for her, especially after finding out about her previous crushes
Red Velvet: Speaking of that, when Red was still living with The Ancient Heroes, and way before Dandy was introduced to Clotted Cream, Red Velvet was Dandelion's first real crush. They met on accident as preteens; while exploring the Pure Vanilla Kingdom with her father, Dandy stumbled onto a herd of sheep, who all immediately surrounded her for pets once they found out she was there. As Dandy & her father desperately tried pulling her out of the cute yet very suffocating cuddle pile, in came Red Velvet to the rescue! pushing through the herd of sheep and used his cake arm to pull her out. They exchanged some introductions, and she'd been smitten with him ever since. During this time, everyone was sure the two would end up together, they had the same interests & goals, they supported & respected each other, the fact they spent so much time together, it's literally perfect! So, imagine everyone's surprise when Dandy's crush dissolved, allowing the two to stay friends. In adulthood, they're still best friends, helping & hanging out with each other whenever they can. Heck, Red is the reason she has the nickname "Dandy!" But despite them being super close as friends, some cookies can be a little jealous, Clotted Cream is no exception. He always felt self-conscious around Red Velvet, especially with Dandelion, and he kinda has every reason to (I mean c'mon, Red Velvet literally swept Dandelion off her feet, he's basically the guy she tells you not to worry about!) Thankfully, Red is aware of his feelings for Dandy, and tries to remind him that they're just close friends and nothing else, which does make him a bit better. . .
Butter Roll: If we go even further back in time, Dandelion actually knew Butter Roll of all cookies, well, not entirely. . . They briefly met as children & hardly talked after. Though, this didn't stop Butter Roll from gaining an interest in Dandelion, not a romantic or even a platonic one, just an interest, a curiosity if you will; Where did this ability even come from? How did her family come across it? And why has been in her family for generations? All questions Butter Roll wanted & was determined to know! From the vibes Dandy got from him as a child, she found him very unsettling & kept her distance, despite him always approaching her. Now, as adults, their conversations are quick & brief; neither are in the Creme Republic a lot due to work, but Butter Roll is usually the one that approaches her, asking her questions that make Dandy uncomfortable & disturbed. Unfortunately, Dandelion is much too polite to turn him down nor ask him to leave her alone, so she tries dodging the questions and keeps their "talks" short. . .
As for her other relationships, they're all fairly simple:
Financier: Her & Financier are quite fond of each other, not outright friends but they do get along, as they know each other quite well. Though, she does find herself talking for Clotted Cream to Dandy when he's too nervous to ask her something, which she kinda hates doing so is just honest with her. That's another thing, Financier is fully honest with Dandelion and tells her things for her own betterment, saying how she's much too polite, that she should toughen up and set boundaries, but Dandy unfortunately doesn't listen most of the time, or she tries to make excuses for it. . . All & all, they have a good relationship!
Wildberry: Despite not knowing Dandelion as well as Clotted Cream or Red Velvet, Wildberry is quite fond of her. What made Dandelion so interesting to him was her different connections, and the cookies she befriended across Earthbread; they relate to each other a lot, so they talk a bit about their jobs. Dandelion's stunning and often reckless bravery is always something that scares the heck out of him; How can anyone just walk up to wild beasts like that!? Regardless if it's her job or not! And Dandy's power just confuses him even more. Wildberry is one of the only cookies who questions her little quirk, but makes sure that she doesn't get upset; he views Dandelion as sweet & naive so keeping her safe & comfortable is a priority. Speaking of that, he's more than happy to shoo away creeps like Butter Roll away from her, which she's forever thankful for. Overall, the two have a very nice friendship!
Crunchy Chip: Chip presents himself as this strong, tough as nails, warrior, so it's not surprising that he found Dandelion annoying at first. It wasn't entirely the same on Dandy's end, she found his nature to be rather problematic, but nothing too bad. What made Chip turn the other cheek was Dandelion's extensive knowledge on beasts, especially creme wolves, and how to properly treat them; so, the first time Dandelion addressed Crunchy Chip's wolf as a "creme wolf," had him taken aback due to being to use to having to correct cookies. They both have a deep respect for each other's jobs, as they both work with animals, they too also share stories about their several experiences, giving each other helpful information as well. Dandy & her father are the only vets that Chip trusts with his wolves, which is a big honor on his end, a privilege which they Dandy & her father gladly accepted. Chip (in Starlight Starbright) throws a lot of parties once he's out of the mountains, and often tries to invite Dandelion to them as rewards, though her attending usually depends on how busy she is. And that's not the only way he tries to reward her either, usually providing her with money or protection from the Creme Wolves, which Dandelion tries to reject but almost always fails miserably. Although they didn't start off in the best of ways, they made for a pretty nice friendship!
(Bonus Headcanon: Wild & Chip are very aware of Clotted Cream's crush on Dandelion, and try to be his wingmen. With Wildberry actually giving him good advice, and Crunchy Chip. . . Not so much. Financier is also aware, but does want to be involved, and thinks the others shouldn't be either. . . But can't do much about it)
Gingerbrave: This brave little lad has always been willing to help anyone he meets & is just a joy to be around, which can be perfectly said with Dandelion! Like Clotted Cream, Gingerbrave tries to help Dandy & her father at the clinic as much as he can, mostly from the kindness of his heart. He even helps with the animals! Though he can't help but recognize a few of them from his travels. Dandelion & her father are of course forever grateful for any help with the clinic, but despite that, their relationship hasn't really become more than that, just Gingerbrave being his helpful self & Dandy being thankful, mostly due to them both being busy. And they're ok with that for the most part
Custard III: Clotted Cream mostly keeps his visits to Crumbs & Critters a secret, and for good reasons too, one of them being Custard Cookie III's constant insisting to come along, to which he's always forced to say yes. As many children his age are, he's quite pushy with the animals in the clinic, not respecting space or boundaries. His ego also doesn't help, as he believes he's the greatest animal tamer in the lands & gets upset when they don't listen to him. Of course, it causes a lot of embarrassment of Clotted Cream's end, and frantically tries to apologize to Dandelion for his nephew's ignorance, which fortunately she fully understands. She's very patient with kids, and Custard Cookie III is no exception, so she usually teaches him proper etiquette around the animals. Alongside his ego, like most children, Little Custard is filled questions on the critters, their behaviors, and much more, question which Dandelion are more than happy to answer. Custard Cookie III has no idea why his uncle enjoys being in Crumbs & Critters so much, nor why he likes being with Dandy so much, all he does know is that it makes him happy, so why question it?
Pure Vanilla: Since Red Velvet & Dandelion basically meant through the Pure Vanilla Kingdom, so it'd only makes sense that they have a good relationship. Whenever she visits the Pure Vanilla Kingdom, it is almost always animal-related, as she often helps Pure Vanilla with animal check-ups. Other than that, the two are often seen feeding the birds, or taking strolls to the royal garden, talking about life. Pure Vanilla sometimes talks about his desire to visit Crumbs & Critters, and Dandy always tells him every time he's completely free to visit when he's able to, which always makes him happy. To cut things short, they went from work-based, to a more grandfather & granddaughter relationship. . . Which is both perfectly ironic & sad✨
Hollyberry: Likes with everyone, Holly welcomed Dandelion with open arms! And for good reasons too. Admittedly, Dandelion was a bit overwhelmed by Hollyberry but got around to it. Hollyberry knew she'd like Dandy the second they met, from the passion towards her job, to her undying bravery when helping wild beasts in need, and the fact she was good friends with two of her sons, so it was perfect. Like Crunchy Chip, she regularly rewards Dandy for her ventures, mostly through giving her barrels of berry juice, parties, and many other gifts, which Dandelion always tries to decline. Till Holly offered her & her father something they could refuse. . . Hollyberry gave them full permission to build their animal sanctuary in her kingdom, even land to build it on, which made them overwhelmed with gratitude, and try to pay her back; which Holly more than happily declines, she is helping a friend
Pitaya Dragon: Yeah, against all odds, Dandelion is weirdly close to Pitaya Dragon Cookie(aka The Red Dragon) How!? well let me explain. . . Dandy's relationship with Pitaya is a little bit complicated, as her extensive knowledge wasn't what got them interested; cause dragons don't care about knowledge, you silly goose! It was Dandy's ability that got them curious. How so many animals can be drawn to one cookie is something they wanna know, but instead of actually asking, they observe, watching Dandy help creatures from a distance. Other than that, Pitaya Dragon does have the habit of teasing her, as they do with all cookies; ever since the two met, they're always belittling and condescending towards Dandy, calling her "a weak & simple cookie," and regularly makes fun of her job, calling it pointless. And despite all of this, Dandelion is nothing but kind & sweet to the Red Dragon, cause trust her, she knows better than to let comments like that get to her! It's only when Pitaya got sick themselves & Dandy rushed to help them, did they realize just how important & impactful her job is; but knowing Pitaya, they refuse to admit it. Now, the two are kinda in a weird patch, creating this one-sided frenemies type relationship where Pitaya tries getting under Dandy's dough, and Dandelion still being as nice as ever!
Dark Cacao: At first, Dark Cacao didn't really know what to feel about Dandelion, and pretty much wanted to dismiss her right off the bat; she was from the Creme Republic after all. . . It was only her relationship with two of his sons, did he let her stick around. Unlike most of the Ancient Heroes, Dark Cacao was kinda taken back by her politeness, immediately not trusting her because of it. He even sent some of his watchers to look after her, and was pretty baffled & surprised they had nothing to report, in fact only praising her & her ability. Upon realizing King Dark Cacao's distaste for her, Dandy tried everything in her power to get him to trust her, through all she did & knew, in attempts to impress him, but they always fell flat. One day, Dandelion was finally able to earn King Dark Cacao's trust when helping him deal an infestation of smaller creatures "invading the kingdom." Nowadays, their relationship is in the middle; not the worst or the greatest, Dark Cacao developed a sort of "Let em cook" mentality when having Dandelion deal with animal-related problems in his kingdom, while Dandelion is always happy to help; Dark Cacao's even completely willing to do favor or two for her. Overall, despite starting out rough, they're in no way close, but they get along!
And that's all I made! Dandelion's an oc I've been cooking up in my brain for awhile now, so she has a lot of lore! Including some other things I left out. . . Since I'm on summer vacation now, I have the full opportunity to make a pt.2! I hope you love her as much as I do! 💞💖✨
💫For now, be on the lookout for my other projects
🌼✨And as always, stay tuned^^!✨🌼

Fans seeing Remakes as a linear art where all changes come from going down a checklist where every plot point is a simple "yes" or "no" box is going to be the death of me. When you frame a narrative that's intentionally made to remix and fuck with the original narrative concepts and themes to say something DIFFERENT or expand on the themes as "Kept this element from the OG" vs "Removed" you typically miss out on what the story is even trying to say. You see a lot of "what they kept/cut" vs "WHY they kept/cut it". The writers/producers could literally look the audience in the face and say "This is the theme, it's not the same theme as the original but this is why we rewrote the narrative." and people would intentionally ignore what the current narrative is trying to say to replace it with the narrative of the original. Even if the two themes contradict or actively critique each other/are in conversation.
In the case of IWTV, we got an amazing story about how race connects to power imbalance and the cycle of abuse that WASN'T present in the original. To take that away from the narrative is to misunderstand WHY it exists.
To remove the Fear of the Future and Death from FF7 Remake/Rebirth is to lose a fundamental part of the narrative.
Consume media in the moment, and understand themes from both past AND present. Getting told that a story that is explicitly about a major concept is secretly about [something that isn't even present in the current adaptation] is driving me up the wall.
The constant need to disrespect emergent themes and narratives as falsehoods and abnormal structures that don't deserve analysis or critical thought floor me. The writers of adaptations and remakes are not absentminded when writing, they are not despots and lazy artists. They write just as much as the original writers, if not more. It is so bizarre seeing a narrative that turns the source material into an inside-out art piece get watered down into a list of either "fanservice" or "accidents". Any change is indulgent and useless, anything you dislike is a mistake or pandering, and so on and so forth. Because there's just no way the writers have anything to say of value, that would simply be ridiculous! /s
