Denji no longer has access to his heart
The golden rule in Chainsaw Man is to focus on the title, since it's the key to reading the story.
Rain, Brothel, Removal seem to be three absurdly unrelated elements, and Fujimoto likes to put it that way, because the challenge for the reader is to find a way of reading that links them together.
Tumblr media
This chapter is funny as well as disturbing, deeply sad, and in itself this collection of sensations just makes you uncomfortable, since the tone is always reversed, and the protagonist himself refuses to allow his situation to be a comic spring.
Tumblr media
Fujimoto confirms an interpretation that is fundamental to understanding Denji: his character thinks only in terms of short-term objectives, incapable of projecting himself, just as he responds only to the satisfaction of needs without being able to verbalize and think about his unhappiness in a more abstract way.
Tumblr media
Denji, for example, isn't thinking about whether sex is actually a solution to his problems, no, it's more concrete than that: he's thinking about whether he's masturbated recently.
Tumblr media
Another piece of evidence is the rain. I've always thought that when it rains in Fujimoto's works, it's proof that no lies are being told.
Whether in Look Back with a silent victory, the school moment with Reze and Denji.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But that's not what we're interested in here, because there's no doubt that Denji is sincere, or at least the rain only shows us that he's sincerely desperate.
There's a subtlety....
Tumblr media
Denji complains that he only thinks with his dick, but there's another, more philosophical and certainly less funny idea behind this: Denji only thinks through his body.
The rain, the amputation, the brothel - they're all proof that Denji only thinks with his senses.
Denji thought the brothel was the solution to his distress, it's when it started raining that he collapsed, as if the change in weather had evoked his own emotional change. Yoru's solution is amputation, another physical sensation and solution.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amputation is a solution all the more symbolic because it's antithetical to what Denji is: a demon man capable of regeneration.
To amputate is in itself not to regenerate, and not to regenerate is in itself to be more human.
What distinguishes us from animals (although science relativizes this) is the way we think about our own emotions, something Denji is incapable of doing, or at least has great difficulty in doing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This doesn't mean he can't verbalize it at all, but when he evokes, he evokes a sensation, a dish (a shitty hamburger, a steak, a ton of sex).
Even when he wants to be loved, Denji formulates it in the form of wanting his heart, almost organically.
Tumblr media
No one wants Denji's heart because it's gone
And it makes sense, because Pochita has reassembled his entire body, except for Denji's heart, which has literally been left in that garbage can.
Tumblr media
That's why, when Pochita lets Denji access his feelings, the place is symbolized by a garbage can.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Denji asks Pochita to wake up to find Nayuta, Pochita asks him where his legs are, because Denji's only function is to be a body.
Tumblr media
And now everything makes sense again
When Denji spoke his dream to Pochita, being Chainsaw Man, I think there was a certain feeling in every reader: what exactly does it change?
Tumblr media
What if it changes nothing? It's normal for Denji not to be able to project himself in the long term, as he should symbolically listen to his heart.
Denji's inability to have a dream, a goal for the future, is symbolized by him and Pochita as children.
Tumblr media
It doesn't mean that Pochita is an antagonist (although that could be cool), but that Denji and Pochita are prisoners of their own situations.
Denji doesn't have access to his heart, but Pochita is contractually bound to what Denji wants.
This is also why, when Denji reproaches himself, it's his child self who's addressing him, because the only way to reproach himself, to feel guilty, is symbolized by his old self, the Denji that Pochita may have known. Just as Denji doesn't have access to his heart, Pochita has difficulty gaining access to the person Denji has become, all of which only leads to stagnation.
Tumblr media
Denji as a child is also the symbol of a scumbag, the remnant of a lost heart, always dressed in poor, dirty clothes, a past that Denji seeks to escape, but a past that is the only time Pochita has been able to get to know Denji.
Tumblr media
I know it's a pretty crazy line, but it's precisely because Denji is Chainsaw Man - a being both fused and disconnected - that he thinks with his dick lol
Saving Chainsaw Man by killing Chainsaw Man has never been a truer statement
Chainsaw Man is Denji's prison but also his only hope
A cage

CG who makes their little go peepee into a bowl/jar on all fours. CG finds it adorable when little has to go so bad that their stream misses the jar at first when they start going.
ummm mama?
Yes, Little One, do you need your Mommy?
ye mama I hafta umm hafta peepee
Well, Baby, I thought you could hold it until your next potty break in an hour. Isn't that what you told me? That you were a big kid and you could do it without your diapers today?
am still big!! am tellin mama I gotta go! only gotta because of da extra drinkies
Little One, big kids can hold to a potty schedule, no matter how much they drink. So no, the potty is still closed to you until then.
*Baby whines and wiggles, trying not to leak or cry* b-but I needa gooo!
Well, I suppose I could get you all padded up for the afternoon, if you're feeling like a Baby again . . .
noooo! no padding mama! *Baby shoves their hand in their undies to help them hold*
Aww, what a cute peepee dance! Since you asked sooo nicely, I suppose I could find you an alternate solution, just this once.
ye mama ye, only umm? hurry please?
Okay, I see we have a bossy Baby on our hands today. *CG gets up deliberately slowly and ambles to the kitchen, painstakingly picking through cups in a cupboard* Here we go!
mmph? mama what is? *Baby keeps firmly humping their hand*
*CG sets a large, wide mouth jar on the floor in front of their Baby* This is your alternative, Little One. You can use this as a one-time training potty if you really need to go before your scheduled time.
*Baby instantly drops to their hands and knees and tries to blindly line themselves up with the jar. They begin piddling instantly, their already wet panties misdirecting their flow to miss the jar for a few seconds before they drop lower so the soaked fabric is nearly touching the jar* ahhh, Ahhhhhhh, ma-maaaa! ohhhh hh thank mama! *Baby's pattering picks up louder to fill the glass jar to an almost impressive amount before they shiver, cutting off their own stream* mama, thank, am still big?
Uh-oh, Little One! Looks like you went peepee in your panties! Unfortunately, that counts as an accident, so we'll be back to padding for the rest of the day.
but I made it! made peepee where mama said!
Mostly, Baby. And it's cute that you were so desperate that you piddled on the ground, but those undies are soaked through. Come on, once your diaper is on, Mommy will give you a big buzzy reward for only making a little mess!

I've been in the translation industry for 15 years. I've seen it all and I wish I could get regular people to understand that while you all rightfully worry about writers and artists when it comes to AI, translators have already been royally fucked. But every time anyone makes that argument, it's all "well, regular people can't afford translators", "accessibility is more important than jobs" and "this is just capitalism's fault". The last on is particularly infuriating because these same people understand that Amazon is shitty, even if they are a good solution for people who live in remote areas with no car. But with Machine Translation and GenAI, it's like they refuse to hold the same ideas in their head.
I really feel that this is because discussion online trends heavily towards English speaking countries and they never have to deal with this shit. The only time it ever pops up is when it comes to the translation of anime or other Japanese media. And even then, the discussion is usually monopolized by the most annoying people who only speak one language and think that "literal translation" will remove all that pesky SJW bias that people are surely, surely sneaking in.
Translators are in no way positioned to fight for their rights. The industry is built in such a way that it uses the labor of thousands or isolated freelance workers in many different countries. They have no union, they are unlikely to form one and they perform invisible, highly skilled labor that everyone thinks they can do as well (they are wrong). People go to college for this shit, they have to build experience in this shit. You cannot pull a bilingual person off the street, ask them to do the same job and get the same results. If you've ever read a horribly translated book or played a videogame where the text makes no sense, you know this.
If you think Machine Translation is an example of "good AI", think again. It is only as useful as the person behind it, fixing everything the machine got wrong and it is eroding that person's rights as we speak. And if your response to this is "well, it is their responsibility to fight for their rights, that is not my problem", ask yourself why the writers and artists matter to you, but the person translating washing machine manuals, who is forced to work harder for less money every year, does not warrant the same respect?

Say, do you really think Dazai would commit double suicide as he constantly claims?
I have a long-ish thing to say about this but in short: ✨It Depends✨
So. The thing is Dazai doesn't want to die so much as he doesn't want to live the way he does because the "inhuman" way he exists hurts. Death is the escape from that pain that he thinks will bring him peace.
However he also doesn't like losing, we've seen him be in situations where he could let himself be killed and choose not to. Hence his obsession with suicide specifically. "The only way I go out is if I take myself out" mindset. Death and the only one he lost to his himself, win-win.
Another thing is that Dazai doesn't like being alone. He thinks he deserves it and thinks he destined to end up that way but he doesn't want to. He also doesn't like pain, I'm not sure if his shtick extends to emotional pain but I'm assuming it does for the sake of my lil thingie here.
Being alone is painful, Dazai doesn't like pain and his solution is to die, but dying alone even if there's no physical pain would still hurt him. Dying with someone else, someone who wants to die with him, drifting off in someones arms, that might not hurt at all.
Double suicide makes a lot of sense as a place to land.
So do I think Dazai would commit double suicide? Yes but only under very specific circumstances in the years between leaving the PM and finding Atsushi.
*deep breath* BECAUSE
Dazai found people that need him. And he doesn't want to let them down, if he didn't care he wouldn't be trying to hard so help them. If he dies, that'd disappoint his new friends and that. would hurt.
Which again defeats the whole point of dying to begin with because he only wants to die to escape the pain that is his life.
So. Do I think Dazai would commit double suicide? No. Not with things the way they are. It wouldn't be painless.

"I imagine that ‘some things are deeper than skin’ is the line they wanted to get out of it. (For me that fell flat and overall I think once again Rogue drew the short straw just to accommodate her relationship with Remy but that’s a different conversation all together)."
Okay, here i was reading this ask in the tag and saw this. Now you've piqued my interest. When you've got the time i'd love to know your thoughts on this. 😯
hey there traveler! 🌠 I said that? Oops, might have thought that one out-loud. Silly me. 😶 Well, we’re here now so we might as well drive this one home. 'Some things are deeper than skin' was a shallow take on the situation for the trio, imo. It felt like a sticker placed on top of a damaged car. Some things are definitely deeper than skin. So are Rogue's feelings for Erik. So is what her time with him inspired in her. For someone who was a terrorist, who presented drastic solutions to the world, not once did he try to push that onto Rogue. On the contrary, it was made clear that, in the time they spent together in TAS, he taught her to see her powers not as a curse but as an essential part of who she is. He spoke to her about what it really means to embrace her identity, about building a future that makes her feel proud of who she is, about her powers creating a sense of belonging instead of discomfort, shame, and alienation. His presence in her life taught her not to fear who she is, not to put limits on what she can do, it taught her to be a part of the world she wants to see herself living in. THAT is why she fell in love with him. That is the Erik that Rogue loves. The whole 'touch' only came in later. We already see her falling in love with him before they even considered the possibility of touching. I love Gambit with all my heart, but in that scene he didn't consider a single thing of what Rogue had to say about why she wanted to be part of Genosha's future. He literally went ahead and did the opposite of what Erik had done - he made Rogue revert into herself and feel the pain of her inability to touch for the sole purpose of romantic and sexual gain. That line was ultimately used to show that Remy was in the right, to frame him as the one that's been hurt, with close to no consideration for Rogue and what she wanted from life. He says 'some things are deeper than skin' and it feels off coming from him, someone who has the privilege of sharing a connection based on touch with others. It makes Remy come across as not listening to what's being said. And I know his words in that interaction can be read as romantic in the sense of 'we can overcome anything'. It's a valid interpretation, but it doesn't work for me. I'd rather two partners try and understand each other and listen to each other than dismiss it with a 'we'll find a way'. Especially when one of them is deeply affected by it. It just isn't my jam. So having Rogue echo the 'some things are deeper than skin' fell flat because it only addressed part of the reason why her and Erik shared something. I think there is love in Rogue for both men and, unlike Magneto, Gambit is just not willing to accept it. It has to be him and only him. All this when he's had a lifetime prior to Rogue of experiencing intimacy, touch and relationships and understanding what he wants and what he values. In this instance it just feels like he's indirectly manipulating Rogue's emotions, making her sink into guilt and self-doubt (very important to note here that he's not doing it on purpose, but as an instinctive reaction to his own emotions - because this speaks both of his qualities and his flaws). So when Rogue says ‘Remy was right, some things are deeper than skin’ I think that is her guilt and insecurity talking.
I grew up with ROMY as my OTP but then, in time, that flame died and my view of the ship shifted. Part of the reason is because I started seeing a pattern in their relationship where often times Rogue would end up being the one pulled down, having to accommodate, accept and even apologize for things. And I was just not vibing with it anymore.

The fact that when tsukasa tenma experiences something highly traumatic he instantly zeroes in on what he did wrong to end up in that situation, drills into his head how to avoid experiencing something like that again in the future, and immediately tries to forget the event ever happening because it’s not only a reminder of his failure but the memory would also cripple his self value enough to hinder his ability to be the person people expect him to and move forward with a new lesson learned to avoid being traumatized again. The problem with this is that you can’t forget your trauma, because then you’ll never be able to fully process what happened to you and recognize what effect it has on your life and outlook. Tsukasa is never able to do this because he does his damndest best to completely erase the memory. When someone has trauma, it’s a completely normal response to come up with a strategy or solution to deal with the damage you’ve been dealt, whether it’s simply withdrawing from those feelings inwardly or acting outwardly in a way to make sure it can’t hurt or affect you again. The problem is that these aren’t healthy patterns, and you’re supposed to get help so that you can acknowledge what happened and move PAST it. Tsukasa is so adamant to pretend shit never took place that he is stuck in this horribly unhealthy phase with terrible mechanisms to get through it all, and since he never processes his trauma has even taken it to the next level by piling it on and on every time something new happens. Saki forced herself to smile because of me? I can never disappoint someone again. The audience didn’t enjoy our play? I said I wouldn’t disappoint people anymore, so I can’t believe I did it again, I have to double down now. The troupe broke up and it’s my fault? I let them down as a leader, I need to take on every burden by myself so that I’m the one solely responsible for everything and I will make sure nothing goes wrong again. Thing is, all these feelings are valid to a certain extent, there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to disappoint people and feeling remorseful when you make them upset. It’s just not good when you’re basing all your worth as a person on how well you live up to peoples standards. He’s so fixated on how well he “performs” that his behaviour becomes EXTREMELY erratic when he is faced with his own failure. Sometimes he straight up lashes out or retracts, both so different from his usual demeanour that people are utterly taken back to the point where even if they are concerned about tsukasa they find it hard to say anything because it’s almost like dealing with an entirely different person. I don’t know how to wrap this up but he’s so mentally ill and I feel that people overlook it a lot because he’s also a comedic character.

House of the Dragon
Driftmark 1x07
Tumblr media
(Credit for gif @sansaery-theonsa )
(Before I start this, I wanna say that I am not speaking about the books, I know what happens in the books. I want to focus on the SHOW in specific. I also ask that we respect each others opinions.)
“Where is duty? Where is sacrifice? It’s trampled under your pretty foot again!” -Alicent Hightower
This line that Alicent says to Rhaenyra as they struggle against each other makes me really sad for everyone in this scene.
I feel sad for Alicent, who had to sacrifice everything for the sake of duty and her house. She sacrifices her friendship with Rhaenyra, she becomes a child bride for a grieving King who killed his Queen, she’s a child who gave birth to another child, her Father continues to push the idea that Rhaenyra will kill her children and she should raise Aegon to be King. She sacrifices and sacrifices and sacrifices and sacrifices, all in the name of duty and instead of getting a rewards for her sacrifice, she gets punishments. Alicent will forever live in Queen Aemma’s shadows, and her children will live the Bealon’s shadow. She’s so bitter and angry about her fate that she can’t help but start to resent Rhaenyra for her freedom. She hates that Rhaenyra is free to ignore her duty and continue to do what she likes. Alicent can’t do that, why does Rhaenyra get to? Rhaenyra gets to once again get away with a no punishment and I think that really broke something in Alicent. Viserys won’t even defend their child, her child! Her Aemond! But instead of it happening in just the Red Keep, now it’s in front of everyone. It makes me feel for Alicent because everyone is gaslighting her in this scene. They keep downplaying the seriousness of her son’s injury. She’s being told to just let it go and Aemond will be fine. Her son’s eye is lost and no one is defending him. Let’s not forget that Rhaenyra asked for Aemind to be “sharply questioned” which can allude to torture. Viserys can’t even be bothered to come up with a solution (he’s so pathetic) instead he basically tells Alicent she’s being hysterical, and that breaks my heart for her. She’s not even allowed to be angry about her son’s eye, she isn’t given that right, but Rhaenyra is?
“ Exhausting, wasn’t it? Hiding beneath the cloak of your own righteousness. But now they see you as you are.” -Rhaenyra Targaryen
Tumblr media
(Credit for gif @alicenthightcwer)
I feel sad for Rhaenyra who is now face to face with someone she doesn’t even recognize. Honestly, I don’t think anything bad happened to Rhaenyra other than this scene. Rhaenyra was at the funeral chatting (sleeping) it up with Daemon. But I feel sad in this scene because once again, she must face the “rumors” of her sons being bastards. She’s now face to face with everyone in the room looking at her and her sons with judgement. It’s never been said in open air, but now it is. Now, she has to fight back but it’s just her word. No Laenor, Daemon is leaning in the back watching the drama he doesn’t even bother to check on his OWN children. She has no one. She’s once again alone against the Greens words. She’s angry that her sons are hurt and in that angry she asks for her own half-brother to be “sharply questioned”, I don’t think she wanted that to happen but she wanted Aemond to say that it was Alicent who was teaching him these things. She wants to expose Alicent for who she is, a bitter, resentful woman who would do anything to shake her claim. To get HER son on the Iron Throne and throw Rhaenyra and her sons to the wolves. Not only is Rhaenyra fighting for her claim but now she’s fighting to protect her children from these vile “rumors”. “But now they see you as you are.” Now they see Alicent as she truly is, not the pious Queen she portrays herself as, but as the bitter, resentful woman she has become. The vile serpent hiding behind this innocent façade, she hides behind. The last look Rhaenyra gives Alicent before looking down at her sliced her arm speak volumes. Now, they have truly severed their bond. Rhaenyra doesn’t see Alicent, her friend, HER Alicent, now shes looking at someone who wouldn’t hesitate to hurt her and her children.
“Do not mourn me, Mother. It was a fair exchange. I may have lost an eye, but I gained a Dragon” -Aemond Targaryen
Tumblr media
(Credit for gif @fkevin073 )
What is a Targaryen without a dragon? Are they even a Targaryen? Are they a disappointment? Less than? Who is Aemond Targaryen? A dutiful son? A spare? A dragonless, fatherless, and bullied boy? Who is he? Aemond didn’t deserve to have his eye taken from him, he didn’t deserve to have irreversible damage done to him for claiming a dragon. A dragon isn’t an heirloom to pass down nor is it something anyone can claim. “A dragon isn’t a slave. They chose their riders.” , could Aemond have waited until after Laena’s funeral? Yes, 100 percent, YES. That was disrespectful not only to Rheana but to Princess Rhaenys and Lord Corlys who were mourning the death of their child. He should have asked or waited but he saw a chance to become something worthy, and he was willing to die for it. A ten year old child was willing to die for a chance to prove himself. That’s insane. He didn’t deserve that, what had Aemond done to deserve thinking he needed to die to prove himself? Every adult in his life has failed him, they’ve built a solider instead of a child. A spare king, instead of a little boy. He didn’t have the confidence to fight the bullying his brother and his nephews put him through, now he rides the largest dragon in the world? Yeah, he had an ego boost. My heart breaks because he was ready to die for this, a ten year old child. Then he was targeted and fought back against them. I don’t know if he would have struck Jace in the head with that rock, but he did get them to back off before Luke sliced him. Jace pulling a knife on someone because they called him a bastard is dumb. I’m sorry, you can’t just pull a knife on someone and try to harm them for a word. Aemond was Injured and now he’s being put on trial by his own father for being a criminal. The absolute look of hatred when he looked at Viserys was beautiful. How dare you question me when I’m the one who’s hurt. Who’s bleeding out, who could have died. I don’t blame Aemond, Aegon, or Helaena for not mourning his death. Aemond was a bullied boy who felt useless without a dragon, but he grew into a bitter, resentful man because of his eye. Aemond and Luke to me parallel Alicent and Rhaenyra. Aemond who like Alicent, has everyone tell them to suck it up and deal with it compared to Luke, who like Rhaenyra is allowed to get off freely with zero punishment. Not even a single sorry. I feel sad for the little boy he could have been, the little boy who needed a loving and kind mother but was instead raised by a mother who was consumed with fear.
“Vhagar is my mother’s dragon….She was mine to claim!”- Rhaena Velaryon-Targaryen
( credit for gif @targs-on-zorses )
Tumblr media
I think Rhaena was done such a bad injustice. She lost her mother, her father wasn’t even talking to her or her sister, and now her mother’s dragon was claimed before she could even try. Rhaena is the definition of a lady. She’s kind, gentle, and has a calming aura. She’s the calm to Beala’s Strom. She’s her mother’s daughter but she’s still has a dragon temperament. I think her and Aemond reflect of each other so much. Both felt worthless because their dragon eggs didn’t hatch in the cradle and are both ignored by their fathers( for different reasons) and that makes me sad because I think they would have made great friends with each other. Rhaena always had her mother to make her feel better, but now she’s gone and the only thing she has now is Vhagar. Except, now Vhagar is gone and her Father is marrying Rhaenyra. Baela is on Driftmark with their Grandmother, Princess Rhaenys and Rhaena is all alone again. I feel sad for Rhaena because she’s always alone, she’s just left by herself and she really mirrors Alicent’s demure lady mask very well.
(Thank you to the people who made the gifs! I credited them underneath each gif!)
The Driftmark episode to me was a prelude to the war that was about to break out. It was a battle between friends who have turned bitter enemies, children who have turned against each other. It was family torn apart and sides were clearly drawn out. It was ugly and showed everyone the divide within the Targaryen Family. But it was such an emotional episode for me because everyone was faced with the ugly truth.
They were divided and nothing could bring them together again.
(Please be respectful to each other about comments you have. I love the discussing about HOTD, but let’s not get ugly😭 )

spoilers for the matrix event kind of ?
so i read the translation today of the whole event and it's just unbelievably bad , I'm not sure if you had a chance to look through . and takashi who's basically a little hiiro but actually he's a child of producer rinne once had with god knows if their father or just someone from amagi family ? it feels like a really bad fanservice and I'd like to hear you thoughts if you read this . it's okay if no and you can't really comment on that but i couldn't keep silent so forgive my off topic ramble .
i hope you will have a good day or night
{major matrix spoilers}
i just read the story myself. its alright, not much worse than any of the others, just hard to follow because its all rinne being rinne. its not really that fanservicy imo, i thought id hate it more than i do . my biggest gripe is akiras choice of dialogue for aira . again. i really wish he would stop doing that but thats besides the point.
edit: i also wanted to add that the part where tatsumi and mayoi are worried about hiiro and aira and theyre like "theyll be fine theyre strong capable people" and it immediately cuts to aira screaming bloody murder absolutely sent me
heres a summary of the story from what ive gathered . this is a long one so ill put it under a read more
rinne set up an elaborate scheme to protect the privacy of his hometown. when rinne first went to the city he saw an unnamed idol that inspired him to become one himself. that idol retired and became a teacher at an all girls school (i wanna bet its kimisaki academy. thats unimportant to the story tho.), and his producer , akan, was left struggling until she met rinne and began producing him. unfortunately the job became too much for her and she began to crack under the pressure, and had to retire for her own health. rinne told her about his hometown, where she would be able to live out the rest of her life in peace. to ensure no one would go looking for her , they set up a plan— they pitched a fake mystery program where she would go investigate a phenomenon in the area of the village, and "disappear mysteriously". the footage would never be released because of the "incident", and as long as they didnt find her she would be declared dead after being missing for long enough, therefore closing the resulting missing person case and leaving her to be unbothered and truly leave her past behind and start over. while she was living in the village she met rinnes father, and they eventually got married and had a kid, takashi (its never mentioned that hes their kid, but rinne says his father wishes he could make takashi his heir instead of rinne, implying hes his son) . he looks like hiiro because the amagi family has strong genes (and also likely because the devs could repurpose kid hiiros live2d model). rinne noticed his fans were getting increasingly curious about his hometown and worried that the extra attention would eventually cause trouble for the people in his village, and by extension disrupt the peaceful life akan had built there. his solution was to "reveal" his hometown in a tv program and satisfy his fans curiosity so theyd drop the subject. but he couldnt just make a program for no reason, so he pitched the matrix event , part of which would be hosted at the "amagis village". he didnt want it to be a large scale event, so he contacted the retired idol akan used to produce and asked him to pose as akan to produce the event since he was the only other person to have known her well enough to impersonate her and capitalizing on the fact that no one remembered who akan is or what she looked like. anzu ended up getting involved and as a result it turned into a much bigger event than rinne intended for it to be . the "village" that the event was hosted in was actually the contact point for the actual village, a place that looked convincing enough but was really just used as a meeting point for the village to import resources from the city without exposing their real location. but of course in typical rinne fashion, he only reveals this to the rest of alkakurei at the very end, so everyone was just very confused the whole time. rinne also claims takashi is his and anzus kid at first, but no one believes him of course because that makes no sense.
tldr; rinne is worried that his fans are getting too curious about his hometown and might eventually lead to it being exposed, so he stages a fake reveal to satisfy his fans curiosity.
-----
i sorta like it. its not completely outlandish by enstars standards and it ties up a few loose ends about rinnes backstory (like what happened to his career as a solo idol before his duo unit with niki, why he became an idol, and who produced him before he met anzu) as well as further solidifying his character as someone who genuinely cares about the well being of others and will fight to protect them by any means necessary even if theyre not part of his life anymore .

30 years old and constantly reposting other people's shit? go get a job
y’know, i think the thing that throws me off about anons like this is that they’re on anon. Because it puts the person in a position where if they want to respond, they have to put an insult to themselves on their blog.
i don’t know where i’ve ever claimed ownership of any of the frimages or gifs that i didn’t take or make, and of the gifs i do make i don’t even watermark half the time bc one, i forget to, and two, i honestly don’t give a shit about someone crediting me for them.
if i know who took a frimage and it’s not already watermarked then i absolutely will credit, and if i need to crop a frimage but it takes out the credit then guess what? i don’t crop it. same idea for gifs. thankfully most people do remember to watermark their gifs unlike me, and thus have their credit on the gif.
there was an instance where i posted a gif set and hadn’t credited bc i didn’t know who created them and the creator saw and rb’d the post about it and i edited the post with credit and a link to their post and encouraged people to go give notes to that post instead. then earlier it looks like someone linked credit to another gif i posted that i now see is a full gif set. of gifs that have been watermarked by the creator. a watermark that gives them credit. because they have essentially signed it.
i have absolutely no problem making a disclaimer tag for all the content that isn’t mine. i guess i shouldn’t have assumed that people were smart enough to realize/understand that the photos and gifs that i post on a frank iero fan blog aren’t taken or made by me for christ sake.
not only that, but i kind of hoped that if someone had an issue with something i do that even if they went on anon that they’d be at least respectful enough to do so without throwing insults. i’m a person who is always willing to make corrections to my actions and posts. last night someone let me know about a post that bothered them and they were on anon. they were so fucking respectful and yk what? we came to a resolution.
alternately, if someone wants to insult me i’d very much rather they have the courage and self respect to do it off anon or in my dms. because the funny thing about me? i don’t throw insults back. not even in real life. i don’t see the point in it.
finally, to address your insult? i do have a job, technically two. and i like them. there’s this fancy thing called a queue that i use during my working hours. but also, to throw an insult like that? “go get a job”? for myself that’s not hurtful, but there are people who don’t have a job and who are desperately and actively trying and can’t get one or are physically/mentally unable to hold a job. so for them, if they were to get an insult like this, which i know for a fact they do on the fucking daily, is incredibly hurtful and is something that has potential to push them over the edge.
so how about we try this again and you send me a respectful ask on or off anon or a dm about what you specifically take issue with and we can actually discuss it and see if there’s a solution to come to.~🎃

i can’t remember if i ever actually made the Ravenous Ghost Bell analysis post, but i wish i had time to make it because i feel like it would be received well in this moment…
#i mean… tldr: ghosts are real in Ravenous#mostly in the heads of the people who ate them#both to harass them in nightmares but also to influence their physical actions#(usually as an echo of something they themselves did in life)#there are COUNTLESS examples of this - which i will give the highlights of when i actually DO make the post#but there’s specifically a moment in the final Boyd-Ives showdown where a bell is rung#and we don’t see who rang it but it causes Boyd to focus and draws him to the barn where he sees the bear trap and is Inspired#and we can presume that the bear trap was Reich’s idea (based on that deleted bear trap shooting scene that i made the gifset of)#but then WHO rang the bell??#obviously it is implied to (and must have been) Ives#but why did he do it?#to get Boyd’s attention - naturally… sounds like him#he knows that time is ticking… wants to lure Boyd to his trap#BUT the thing is that Ives ate Reich too#and i feel like (being a long-time cannibal with no moral compass) he is probably Less influenced by the people he eats than Boyd is#but i also like to think that - in that moment - Reich subconsciously influenced him to do it#because - notably - Reich was the one who rung that bell the last time he left Fort Spencer - he’s the only character we see so it#so like. tldr again: ghosts are Real in Ravenous and Reich’s ghost rung the bell in that scene#to help Boyd focus and lead him to the solution that would give him the upper hand in the conflict to defeat Ives#and someday i will write ALL of that up properly - but it’s just SO good and i love to talk about it#so here i am#ghostposting the night away…#not tagging this because i want the REAL analysis to get notes whenever i post that#but feel FREE to chat with me about this if you see it!#i love Ravenous and i miss talking about it#i have SO much to say lol

Trying to watch 999 let’s plays is such hell to me - NO ONE PLAYS THE GAME RIGHT just shutupshutupshutupshutup and play the game!! Stop trying to make jokes!!!!
I’m too autistic for this, I cannot bear hearing let’s players doing their own voice acting when I adore the game’s VAs too much. Everyone always fucks up Santa’s and Lotus’s voices especially.
I understand the draw of Let’s Plays are largely the people playing them who have gained their own following, but as someone who just loves the game I don’t wanna hear ur stupid banter 💥💥💥 play the game and be intrigued but not TOO intrigued because give it a fuckin minute it’ll explain what’s going on 🙄‼️
Tumblr media
#zero escape#999#my opinion is that the let’s plays that are alright are half-blind play thrus where one person is knowledgeable about everything#and can keep the blind one on track and properly guide their curiousity#I also lose my MIND when people get stuck on the puzzles on this ridiculously easy game#(<- says the person who has played it numerous times and knows all the solutions by heart)#like you IDIOT just do THIS#(<- also the person who still has to look up the answer to the box puzzle behind door 6)#and don’t get me started on when the LPers hate Lotus#don’t get me wrong - disliking her especially when u get to the hospital room is Good and Correct as it’s what the writing is leading you to#but some LPers get so misogynistic about it I have to immediately tap out cuz its too much#also another reason why I don’t like when they don’t use the in-game voice acting#is cuz so many people play Junpei as Basic Anime Protag when Evan Smith’s voice acting gives him SO much character#and Junpei is my favorite >:(#I have many more gripes but that’s enough for now#I just want everyone to experience how great this game is but ONLY in the way I LIKE#I know I sound so whiny and entitled but please tell me someone else relates#the urge I get to just make a whole channel dedicated to 999 play thrus where I just play the game again and again with a different friend#would they all be identical to each other because I would be directing them all the same?#yes. but what greater autistic joy is that (for me)#I never thought the Joseph Anderson streams would be my favorite playthrus cuz I hated them too at first#but his dynamic with chat and consistent amusement and enjoyment of the game is very nice and soothing

yakuza 3 is dumb for a lot of reasons but my favorite dumb reason is that this whole shitstorm started all because joji was getting a pen in the most suspect way imaginable
