Compilation of Coryo blushing
“Married?” He laughed, then remembered they married young in some of the districts. How did he know? Maybe she had a husband back in 12. “Why? Are you asking?” said Lucy Gray seriously. He looked up in surprise. “Because I think this could work.” Coriolanus felt himself blush a little at her teasing. “I’m pretty sure you could do better.” “Haven’t yet.” A flicker of pain crossed her face, but she hid it with a smile. “I bet you’ve got sweethearts lined up around the block.” Her flirtation left Coriolanus tongue-tied. Where were they?
When he spoke again, the words caught in his throat before he forced them out. “I told my family. Really. Thank you, Lucy Gray.” “Well, I had some time on my hands,” she said, tracing the frosted flower on a cookie with a shaky forefinger. “Pretty cookies.” Then came confusion. If she had saved his life, he owed her, what? A sandwich and two cookies? That was how he was repaying her. For his life. Which apparently he held quite cheaply. The truth was, he owed her everything. He felt the blush burn over his cheeks. “You could have run. And if you had, I would have gone up in flames before they reached me.” “Run, huh? Seemed like a lot of effort to get shot,” she said. Coriolanus shook his head. “You can joke, but it won’t change what you did for me. I hope I can repay you in some way.” “I hope so, too,” she said. In those few words he sensed a shift in their dynamic. As her mentor, he’d been the gracious giver of gifts, always to be met with gratitude. Now she’d upended things by giving him a gift beyond compare. On the surface, everything looked the same. Chained girl, boy offering food, Peacekeepers guarding that status quo. But deep down, things could never be the same between them. He would always be in her debt. She had the right to demand things. “I don’t know how,” he admitted. Lucy Gray glanced around the room, taking in her wounded competitors. Then she looked him in the eye, and impatience tinged her voice. “You could start by thinking I can actually win.”
“That’s going to take some work,” said Coriolanus. “I don’t know what ever possessed me to ask for Twelve.” “Completely random, obviously,” Sejanus teased. Like a fool, Coriolanus felt himself blush. “I don’t even know how to find her. Or if she’ll still be interested in me, now that so much has changed.”

Fairytail in a GOT au - part 2
There’s the original post :) if you haven’t read that I suggest you do so you can get a gist of this one.
Gruvia
Arranged marriage
I think BonnieQ pretty much nailed what their relationship would be like already in her GOT au fic but I’m gonna continue anyways
Juvia and Gray would both be very stoic with each other for the first week, Juvia opens up way before he does though
Girl’s horny 24/7
Occasionally they’d make a trip to the Riverlands cause she gets a little homesick, but she loves the North just as much
Juvia shocked that she has a man that actually treats her with respect and doesn’t cross boundaries
Gray found her a bit odd at first but once he got to know her that boy was in looooove
When there’s a war they don’t leave each other behind they go together (despite how much Gray protests she stays home)
Lyon constantly making moves on a married woman, Gray would threaten to send him to the Wall
Like Bran in episode 1 I imagine Juvia finding a load of direwolf puppies and begging for Gray to let her keep them
He’s like “yeah whatever” but secretly he was also about to beg her to take them home
They’re pretty quick to have children (horny bastards)
Nalu
Natsu grew up in King’s Landing and one day the “Lannisters” (Lucy’s family) visited and Natsu pissed her the fuck off but they were actually pretty close by the end of it
Lucy was promised to someone else
Natsu is a knight
See where I’m going here
Forbidden looooove
Yeah they secretly shagging
They’d be like frenemies to lovers
They’d pull a Lyanna and Rhaegar and secretly elope
This is game of thrones people wouldn’t like that once they found out
Do I hear a war? Yeah there was totally a war because of it
Random bullshit
Natsu would be a knight to the Targaryens I think (so Mira’s family n that)
Targaryens would beg the Stark’s (Gray and co) to fight in the war against the Lannisters (angry Lucy family) and Gray would get in a little spat with Natsu about how he basically started a war for pussy
I feel like Lucy’s mother would’ve been a Tyrell
Natsu would have Targaryen blood fr but I feel like he’d be a bastard
Makarov runs a brothel in King’s landing lmao
Juvia would have Pyke blood too yk sea and that
Jellal and Erza are literally just Brienne and Jaime
Erza and Natsu still besties and she’d be in the King’s guard as well
Natsu would definitely have a dragon
Juvia is full on Catalyn when it comes to her kids (in a good way) she’ll do anything for them

“Yes, they’re quite well behaved, minus the occasional mishap,” Elaine said, “I make sure they get excellent grades as well.”
Abe managed another quick look at his grandfather. He couldn’t quite get a read on the man. His mother seemed split on how to handle the social interaction at hand. Half the time, she seemed confident that she could sway the older man to her side, the other half she seemed as close to cracking as Abe was himself. He wasn’t sure what to make of that information.
“Lucy is doing well in school too.” Abe couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at his mother at this. Luckily neither adult seemed to notice. Elaine only smiled at her own father, keeping his attention on her for the moment. Abe took a breath, getting his surprise back under control. He was absolutely sure his mother had no idea what his younger sister’s grades looked like, and he was certain Lucy wasn’t spending the evening in a library like his mother claimed she was. He waited for his mother to scrounge together a compliment for Nathan, but it never came. His mother instead chose to leave the table in silence.
“Excellent. I’m sure she’ll make a fine addition to your businesses once she’s finished.” Abraham Helios gave his daughter a small smile, and Abe watched his mother’s shoulders lose a minute amount of tension. He turned to Abe and said, “As much as my grandson here.”
Abe met his grandfather’s gaze, knowing that was what would be expected. He tried not to shrink in his seat under the eyes on him. He gave a small nod and an even smaller nervous smile. He wondered what Callum would say if he’d seen the interaction. Not that Callum was invited tonight. Abe tried to bury the twinge of guilt he felt, remembering the face Callum had made when he’d mentioned this evening’s dinner plans. Callum wouldn’t ask him for invite; he wasn’t that naive. But Abe had eaten dinner with his family 5 times in as many months; and every time, he’d avoided bringing up the eventual plan of moving back to the city, like he’d promised Callum he would. As his mother and grandfather planned out even more of his future in front of him, Abe tried to pretend he’d even tried to bring it up once during any of those visits.
As if on cue, his grandfather looked back at him, and spoke once more, “I’m surprised.”
Abe met his grandfather’s stare, but didn’t interrupt. “Handsome, responsible young man like you. At your age I was already set to be married to Diana. You don’t have a woman at home?”

Garcy + "Quick, kiss me!"
(bonus points for fake marriage on a mission, and for Flynn saying it)
Height difference is a good time, just saying. Usual post-canon-divergence / pre-relationship / PG-ish / also on ao3.
There are, as time passes, a few defaults.
It’s nice to have routines, really. This whole war across time thing doesn’t allow for a lot of stability, and Lucy has picked a very bad time in her life to decide she wants that after all, and she is taking what she can get. And even as dynamics improve every day and they’ve all come to function as a messy but loving extended family of sorts…
Look, Flynn’s people skills are now at least existent, but she’s still the only person he likes. And that means she has to keep an eye on him, because improvement does not mean stripped of certain personality traits that are prone to causing a lot of problems very quickly, and she’s apparently the only person that has ever lived who has ever actually been able to tell him to stop and get results, and either the dead wife must’ve had the patience of a whole cathedral worth of saints or the violent tendencies are a more recent development and neither of those options makes Lucy feel any better and-
Routines, she reminds herself. She likes routines. Even if in this case routines mean she is stuck herding a grouchy tank of a man around eastern Canada. It’s fine. Really.
It’s 1919 and the mission involves making sure the first nonstop transatlantic flight happens without problems, which entails wandering around in the vicinity of a questionably constructed airfield that might as well have a No Girls Allowed sign up on a fence somewhere from how well their side has been going. No cover story has been discussed, but the default is to pretend to be married, default enough that Lucy slips a ring onto her finger before a mission even starts and it feels weird to not wear it in her own timeline and-
How much she likes being fake-married to someone she hasn’t sorted her feelings about will be a fun problem for whatever government-clearance therapist gets to try to untangle her life in a few years, if she lives that long. It is not a problem for right now.
Point is, this is the easy but boring side of the mission, the part Lucy has a similarly mixed relationship, not the worst thing in the world but she could be so much more useful if she had a better idea what they were looking out for in the first place, if-
All of a sudden, Flynn stops, cold and with that wild look in his eyes and there is something feral in that man, Lucy thinks, something primal that has been awakened by pain and cannot be quieted and-
“Quick, kiss me.”
She’ll ask questions later. She is going to have a lot of questions. For the moment, she trusts him enough to cooperate.
Kissing someone an entire foot taller than her, Lucy learns, requires a little more coordination than she expects. She has to yank him down and stand on tiptoe and it really is awkward and a little uncomfortable, and she crashes in with a little more intensity than intended and… it’s a good kiss. She’s wondered about him like that for years now, the kind of wondering one does when there’s only one viable option for one’s regular daydreams, and reality is just a little softer than she expected, and she’s pretty sure he makes some kind of low growl into her mouth and that is unfairly hot, and-
Just as quickly as it began, it is over. His hands stay on her waist, but she is small again, small enough to hide against his body and that at least is familiar and safe and-
“Needed to-“
“You don’t need to explain,” she says before he can launch into what she is sure will be an elaborate apology because good grief, for a man who’s been obviously in love with her since before she met him, there is clearly no intention of ever doing anything with those wayward emotions. “We do what we have to do.”
“Are you hurt?”
Lucy pokes her head up, and it has been too long since she’s tried to flirt with actual intent, but she wants.
“You can massage my wounded feet when we get back home.”
He gives her a look like he’s not sure she actually means that, and dammit how is this the first man she’s ever been around who’s consistently been in awe of her, it is unfair. “If that balances us.”
“I’ll do your neck,” she murmurs, almost laughing. “Can’t imagine that was comfortable either.”
“Next time I’ll just lift you.”
Next time.
Well.
As if her daydreams weren’t annoying enough.
“Good idea.”

Pleasantview Shenanigans for tonight:
Mortimer Goth and Dina Caliente had a baby boy, but Dina still has it bad for Don Lothario. She’s just waiting for Mortimer to die since she only married him for his money. She doesn’t want the baby or Mortimer’s son Alexander, but Alex will be off to university soon. As for the baby, I have mods that would allow Dina to give her son up after Mortimer dies, but maybe she’ll have a change of heart?
Don Lothario cheated on Cassandra Goth with several more women after they were married. Cassandra tried to look the other way because she also immediately got pregnant (I have a couple of mods that make all woohoo risky even if they didn’t specifically try for baby and I have autonomous casual romance so sometimes they just boink without me telling them to) and was stressed out with that, but when Don cheated on Cassandra with Bella Goth, her own mother, she was done with both of them. She divorced Don and cut her mother out of her life. Bella is alive in this version of Pleasantview I downloaded so there’s also a chance she could end up back with Mortimer again. The story I’m using is that the aliens dropped her off as a townie so she doesn’t have all of her memories back. Don moved into Nina Caliente’s apartment with her being the mooch that he is. He’s still more interested in Bella Goth over the other ladies, but has his current want of woohooing 10 sims.
Darren Dreamer took the opportunity to scoop up Cassandra since he’s always been in love with her . They aren’t officially together yet, but once Dirk gets settled into college, Cassandra is going to move him into the Goth Manor with her to help raise the baby and maybe they’ll tie the knot and have their own kids together.
Brandi Broke had a baby girl via becoming pregnant before Skip died. For anyone who has played the Broke family in sims 2, Brandi broke is always pregnant when you start the save. Normally, the baby is always a boy and a clone of Brandi since the devs didn’t actually give unborn baby Broke any genetic ties to Skip, but this version of Pleasantview I have downloaded has fixed all of that. Beau is a child and is doing well in school. Dustin has reached the top of his part time career and also improved his grades so he’s just moved out into the college bin until I decide to play all of the Pleasantview teens in uni. I downloaded a mod to make university only last 8 days rather than 24 so the plan is to move all the Pleasantview teens of this generation who want to go to uni, all into one dorm or house together and just get it all over with in one go until the next generation.
The Pleasant Family, my favorite. So the scripted events didn’t occur as normal because of what happened during the play through the night before. Mary Sue and Daniel just couldn’t seem to make up. They’d have a few interactions because of ACR, but Mary Sue remained furious at him. I tried my best to keep Lilith away from the family since they always pick fights with her. She was actually getting wants to do her homework, make friends, and go to uni and since I’m doing wants based gameplay, I was focusing a lot on her. Aside from her boyfriend Dirk, Lilith has become good friends with her cousin Lucy Burb so I have them in a group together that goes and plays games at the arcade I put in Pleasantview. Lilith and Dirk stopped sneaking out after the last time they were busted. In the meantime, Angela and Dustin had some ACR fun and Angela wound up pregnant thanks to inteenimater. Before her parents even found out though, Daniel Pleasant fucking died of starvation. He didn’t eat before work one day and then he got fired due to a chance card so he came home still starving to death instead of fed like sims normally would come home at the end of a work day and he died on the sidewalk. Not much of a loss since I was eventually going to have Mary Sue divorce him and kick him out. Sucks to be Kaylynn though as the original plan was for them to move in together in their own place. Anyway, Angela started showing and Mary Sue wasn’t pleased with that and they started fighting which caused Mary Sue to pick on Lilith more than she already was. Lilith wound up running away for like half a day. After Angela gave birth, I wound up moving Lilith in with her grandparents, Herb and Coral Oldie so she’d stop getting caught in the crossfire and now Angela can use Lilith’s room as a nursery.
My last family of the night in my rotational play through was the Burb family. Lucy ended up shedding her good girl reputation when she started getting wants to sneak out with Lilith and what really surprised me was when she autonomously called her friend over for a bootycall, she hadn’t even had her first kiss yet and then just randomly loses her virginity to her best guy friend like okay girl. Thankfully she did not wind up pregnant because her mother was pregnant with fucking twins. Speaking of, when Jennifer gave birth to the twins, I forgot I had a mod installed that adds a 10% chance for all childbirth’s to result in death so she has the babies and suddenly I see the grim reaper icon in her action queue with the word “expire” and she drops to the floor dead! I had John plead for her life because it would have been insane to have to deal with a teen daughter on a rebellious streak and twin baby boys. Luckily, it worked because it didn’t work when I had Mary Sue try to plead for Daniel. Then after that John finally wanted a job. He has been unemployed this whole time because he never rolled a want to get a job so now he and Jennifer are both employed and can finally start bringing decent money into the house.
I wound up calling it a night shortly after that. I moved almost all of the teens to the uni bin since they had decent grades and all had wants to go to uni except for Angela who is now a teen mom so her want to go to university has disappeared and they’re all replaced with wants related to caring for the baby (meanwhile Dustin hasn’t even met his daughter and just fucked off to college lmao) and surprisingly Lucy Burb hasn’t rolled a want to go to college. Since I’m doing wants based gameplay, sims aren’t getting jobs or going to college unless they want to so if Lucy doesn’t roll the want to go to college before she ages up to an adult, then she’ll just be an adult I guess since young adult is an exclusive life stage to university in sims 2. I hope she has a change of heart before it’s too late, she has always done great in school but ever since she’s aged up to a teen she only wants to hang out with her friends and have random woohoo.

Cozy Christmas Romances to get into the Holiday Spirit
Home Sweet Christmas by Susan Mallery
Until Camryn Neff can return to her “real” life in Chicago, she’s in Wishing Tree to care for her twin sisters. She’s not looking for forever love, not here. But handsome hotelier Jake Crane is a temptation she can’t resist, so she suggests they pair up for the season. No golden rings, no broken hearts. At his side, she sees her hometown through Christmas-colored eyes. The cheer is cheerier, the joy more joyful. She thought she had put her future on hold…but maybe her real life was here all along, waiting for her to come home. New in town, River Best is charmed by Wishing Tree’s homespun traditions and warmhearted people. When she’s crowned Snow Queen, she’s honored but wary. Dylan Tucker, her king, seems like the stuff of sugarplum dreams, but she can’t shake the feeling that he’s hiding something big. As they perform their “royal” duties—tasting cookies, lighting trees—Dylan’s good humor and melty kisses draw her to the brink of love. But she can’t let herself fall until she uncovers his secret, even if her lack of faith means losing him forever.
A Wish for Winter by Viola Shipman
Despite losing her parents in a tragic accident just before her fourteenth Christmas, Susan Norcross has had it better than most, with loving grandparents to raise her and a gang of quirky, devoted friends to support her. Now a successful bookstore owner in a tight-knit Michigan lakeside community, Susan is facing down forty—the same age as her mother when she died—and she can’t help but see everything she hasn’t achieved, including finding a love match of her own. To add to the pressure, everyone in her small town believes it’s Susan’s destiny to meet and marry a man dressed as Santa, just like her mother and grandmother before her. So it seems cosmically unfair that the man she makes an instant connection with at an annual Santa Run is lost in the crowd before she can get his name. What follows is Susan and her friends’ hilarious and heartwarming search for the mystery Santa—covering twelve months of social media snafus, authors behaving badly and dating fails—as well as a poignant look at family, friendship and what defines a well-lived and well-loved life.

Moirai [Finale]
Chapter 7 - Chapter 8 [Finale]
➜ Words: 8.6k
➜ Genres: 60% Fluff, 40% Angst, Isekai!AU
➜ Summary: Death is supposed to be the end. Or at least that's what you assumed when you're hit by a TRUCK. But the moment you open your eyes again, instead of being sent to the afterlife, you've become a baby. And not just any baby. You're the female villain of a video game.
Tumblr media
You don’t know why you were so afraid of dying.   It happened once before. You didn’t even have time to prepare yourself.   Maybe you were so petrified because you were left feeling an empty void inside of yourself last time. You never got the chance to fulfill your dreams, enjoy the fruits of your labour, never got to reach the happiness you wanted. You were filled with numerous regrets. Not for the things you did. But for the things you didn’t do.   But strangely enough, for the second time, you don’t feel such sadness.   Perhaps because your death this time has purpose. Perhaps because you know it wasn’t wasted. Taehyung gets to live, he’s safe and that in itself is worth sacrificing for. You wonder if this is what love feels like.   For being so afraid of dying in this lifetime, there was not an inch of hesitation when you risked it again.   “Anastasia.”   But you aren’t dead. Just on your deathbed.   You can hear Lucy sobbing beside you. She’s noisy, practically giving you a headache, but truthfully, your heart aches to hear her. Until the very end, she proves to be one of the most sincere people in all of Ashea.   “Please...please, wake up.”   It’s hard to open your eyes. Your left shoulder aches terribly and you feel feverish but chilly at the same time. Even with the heaviest blanket overtop of you, you can’t help shivering. You wonder if your wound was infected. If you caught something else. If you’ll make a recovery.   It’s hard to lay and rest peacefully when you know someone’s made an assassination attempt on Taehyung. It might happen again. It might happen when you’re laying here. But even so, perhaps your connection to Taehyung will save him. This darkness inside of you just might consume his injuries and hand it to you instead. If so, you’ll readily lend your life to him again.    It’s your destiny as his protector. You don’t mind.   “Lucy...you should rest.”   You can vaguely hear Jungkook’s voice and you force your eyes to open a sliver. Their figures are blurry.   “No. I want to stay here a little longer.” Her voice is firm, no longer as timid as it used to be.   But Jungkook still coaxes her otherwise. “You haven’t slept and the Duke and Duchess have come. They’re waiting outside. We can watch over her.”   You watch as their forms fade away, Jungkook guiding the girl out. Soon, your mother and father are entering the room, steps slow, their voices kept quiet. Your vision starts to sharpen and the bed dips as your mother sits next to you, her expression impassive while she takes your hand.   She realizes you’re awake when your fingers twitch and her head whips over to you. “Anastasia. Anastasia,” she calls again and lowers herself to whisper, “You can make it through this.”   Your eyes manage to open and your cracked lips move— “I’m sorry.”   Her blank visage is ruined by the slight furrow of her brows. “What for?”   “I can’t be the crown princess.” The words are mumbled out of you, barely steady on a single breath.   “You still can.”   “No.” You weakly shake your head. “Even if I live, I...can’t.”   “I’m...sorr...y.” The sincere apology utters off from your lips — they’re your dying words.   You’ve never apologized to them in your life. You never felt the need to apologize to anyone aside from Taehyung. But marrying Jungkook, keeping the family safe, it’s all they ever wanted from you. Yet, you can’t fulfill their only wish.   “Anastasia.” There’s a rough tug at your arm and you wince. Your mother’s eyes are wide, mouth lopsided, she looks...frantic. It’s the first time her impassivity has been spoiled. “Get up. Get yourself back together. It would be worthless if you die here. Everything you’ve worked so hard for will go to waste. I’ll be angry if you keep talking about giving up. Get up right now!”   She doesn’t accept the apology. She doesn’t acknowledge it.   “Elanor.” Your father grabs your mother’s shoulders, pulling her away from trying to tug you upright. “Elanor! Stop it. Calm down.”   “She was sick so many times before as a child and she still lived! She’ll live here too, Herrick.” She whirls around and seizes your father’s collar in tight fists, but then sobs break through her figure. “Stop acting like our daughter is dying!”   “I know, I know.” He embraces her. “But if we want her to live, she has to rest. Remember what the healers said?”   Your mother nods into his shoulder and your father stares at you.   There’s not enough strength in you to stay conscious, so you black out against your will moments later. But you swear you feel him squeeze your hand before he leaves.   //   Taehyung cracks open the door fifteen minutes after three. The hallway is shrouded in darkness with only a tiny sliver of the moon’s luminescence that will wane away tomorrow. His breath was hitched and only with no one in sight was he able to slip into the shadows.    He feels like a child again, having to lurk in the castle’s corridors. But he had to see you.   Taehyung comes to your bedside where you’re fast asleep. His left hand grips the arrow that had pierced into your flesh, hard enough that his knuckles turn white, that his entire fist shakes.    The silver tip is decorated with loops and ornate designs. He stared at it long enough that the pattern is embedded beneath his eyelids. But for now, he sets the arrow down on your bedside and lifts his hand to hover over your body.   Taehyung frowns. He recognizes the dark magic over your soul.    He should've seen it, should’ve tried to use his magic to detect it when he had the chance. Not now when it was too late. When it’s suddenly so obvious. The magic spills out of your skin when Taehyung beckons it forward, consuming the room into pitch blackness that chokes him. It’s as if your soul has been encased in it, so thick that he doesn’t know where the magic ends or begins.    Taehyung tries to break it, to shatter the magic apart and dissipate the shards. But when he touches it, there’s a spark. A golden trace, like lightning on a stormy day. He sharply inhales as it stings him and he notices your brows furrow.   The man quickly seals the dark magic up again. He wonders who did this to you.   His right hand tightens on the pink handkerchief frayed at the edges. He kept it all of this time. There just hasn’t been the right moment to give it back to you yet. But he knows they’ll be a day.   He’s counting on it.   Taehyung murmurs an incantation underneath his breath, a healing spell that has your expression easing again. A soft breath escapes the seam of your lips as if you’re soothed from pain.   “I’m sorry.”   You hear what sounds like Taehyung’s voice inside your head.    He has nothing to apologize for. You’re the one who did him wrong, who pushed him away, who made him out as someone to be feared — you saw him as the villain before he even became one.   But when you awake, there’s no one there.   //    The next morning, you start to feel better again.   Your body feels less like a heavy cage against the mattress. Your shoulder doesn’t ache with each movement and your fever has faded away. In the following days, the healers are taken aback at the change but start to become more optimistic, and Lucy smiles with tears in her eyes to see you conscious. You’re well enough to at least be able to sit up too.   “Has anyone visited me?” you ask a maid who’s come by to replace your clothes.    But the young girl shakes her head. “Is there someone you want to see, Lady Anastasia?”   “No…”   As if you were speaking of the devil, another attendant enters the room. “Lady Anastasia, there’s someone here…”   The corner of your mouth upturns and you immediately lean forward. But instead of the person you were hoping for, it’s dark-hair and doe eyes.   Jungkook smiles and the two girls leave a beat later, giving the pair of you some privacy. He knows you well enough over the years to see your disappointment. “Were you expecting someone else?”   “Of course not,” you scoff, leaning against the headboard.   “I’m glad to see you better enough to mouth off again.” Jungkook grins and takes his seat on the chair beside you. “But there’s something we should talk about, Anna.”   “What is it?”   “The engagement ball is coming up.”   You stay silent.   “The advisors think we should do ahead with the engagement after this incident. There’s some suspicion this had something to do with you being kidnapped and there’s an investigation going on, but the advisors think it’ll be reflected poorly if the royal family doesn’t take responsibility for your injuries.”   There’s a pause. A quiet simmer. The corner of his mouth quirks gingerly.   “Surprisingly, the Duke and Duchess haven’t said anything about it.”   You burst out laughing. “For once.”   Jungkook’s smile is short lived. He inhales a deep breath and hesitates. You’ve never seen Jungkook so careful in choosing his words before, but you have a feeling of what he wants to say. “Anna. I care about you, I do. You’ve been a friend since we were children. But I don’t think I can go through with this marriag—”   “Stop,” you interrupt and he looks up. Your eyes meet and you smile, taking his hand. “I’ve always said I wouldn’t stop you, Jungkook.”   He nods and whispers, “Thank you.”   You hold hands, smiling at him. “You’ll always be a close friend of mine.”   No matter what path this universe goes down, Anastasia never ends up with Jungkook.    And Y/N doesn’t either.   It’s impossible when you have someone else who can beckon your heart with a simple gaze.
Tumblr media
Half across the castle, Taehyung enters the throne room.   It’s decorated with a red carpet, chandeliers, and a throne at the end that sits above all, looking down at the rest. It’s imposing as it is grand. But before he can come closer, the knights refuse him. Their partisan weapons block his way, a criss-cross that doesn’t give him an inch to move.   “Let me speak to the King.”   “The King is occupied,” one of them states plainly.   “Let me speak to him,” Taehyung raises his voice and steps closer.   The old man on the throne hears the ruckus. His ears perk and his attention is taken. His deep timbre bellows down the hall— “Let him through.”   Only then at his allowance is Taehyung able to walk down the carpet. His strides don’t halt until he’s at the bottom of the staircase.    The King doesn’t wear an expression, but Taehyung knows there’s quiet disdain underneath it. A reserved contempt that he tries to mask for appearance sakes.    He made the same face at his mother’s funeral.   “What have you come here for?”   Taehyung throws down the arrow in front of him, the arrow still stained with your blood.   The King’s brow quirks. “What is the meaning of this?”   “Someone who doesn’t know magic wouldn’t be able to see that this is striking silver. It’s material only used by the palace’s arrows.”   “It must’ve been stolen.”   “But I found them,” he quiets. “I found the person who fired the shot and I fed them a truth serum and they confessed to me.” Taehyung lifts his head and steps closer to the throne. “You did this, didn’t you?”   The deep timbre of Taehyung’s voice resounds through the hall. The scowl he holds carries a deeply rooted loathing he didn’t know he had within him. “You tried to kill your own son.”   “How dare you try to accuse the royal King!” His fist bangs against the armrest and it rings in Taehyung’s ears. His face is twisted in appalment, the shout that tears through his throat is spat out. “You would rather believe a servant than the King?!”   “Why do you lie to me?”   He is used to their scorn, their contempt and hatred. Taehyung knows. He has endured this treatment for a lifetime, since the moment he took his first breath. But when it comes to you…   When it comes to you, Taehyung can shut his eyes and still see the moment you took the arrow for him. The arrow inflicted by his own father. It’s been burnt to memory — your expression, your words, the blood that poured from the gaps of his fingertips. It’s been seared to mind.   He was the one who put you in harm’s way when he swore to himself he would never ever let that happen. He vowed that he wouldn't see you until he became strong enough.   So he stands his ground. Not for his own pride, dignity or his injustices.    But for you. A reason that is greater to Taehyung than all other reasons.   “You let my mother die and now you’re trying to kill me—”   “Silence! You dare stand there and accuse me.” The King abruptly rises to his feet, pointing down at him with a shaking hand. His face is reddened at these allegations, a reaction so tense it can only prove to be true. “You are nothing but an orphan boy! I don’t have a son like you! Guards!”   Three knights storm through the throne room. “Arrest him for treason!”   The King has commanded the castle at his will, marionette dolls without even needing to tug the strings. As easy as ringing a bell. Or calling a dog.    They have always had it easy. A life of luxury that knows no suffering. The deeper the blue shade of blood, the stronger the status. As if heroes are born instead of having their title earned.   “Why?”   The guards are three steps away, armours clanking, hands outstretched. But darkness sweeps from Taehyung’s shadow and consumes the room, bleeding throughout. He’s not sure where it comes from, doesn’t pay mind to recognize that it’s your dark magic lent to him, but it pours out of his skin, thick enough to choke on.   “Why?!” Taehyung shouts from the pit of his stomach, past his gritted teeth. He demands to know, he aches for answers. If all this pain is because of his dirtied birthright — the only thing he couldn’t control and perhaps the only reason he isn’t loved. “Why did you do this?!”   “Guards!” The King manages to call out in the midst of his wheeze and they finally get to Taehyung, hands snatching his arms, ripping them from their sockets. The darkness dissipates. “You dare use magic against the King?!”   “Is it because I threatened your favourite’s son’s position?! Is it because of Jungkook?!”   Taehyung thrashes against the guards. He was a mistake manifested, a reminder of the errors of the King’s ways. His existence taints the pristine reputation of the royal family. But why—   “Why did you do this to her?! Why did you get Anastasia involved?! She's innocent!”   “That girl will never be yours,” the man spits from his place by the throne, mocking his audacity to covet his brother’s fiancée. “And if you dare to use magic against me one more time, then I’ll make your wish come true. She will be killed next to you.”   His jaw clenches. Wrath seethes beneath his skin.   The guards yank at him. “Move!”   The grand doors slam shut.   //   Something is wrong.   You can feel it — you’re cold, chest aching, experiencing dizzy spells. But it’s not from the wound in your shoulder that’s already closing. You haven’t felt this way since you were young and you were bedridden without explanation. You can only hope it passes quickly like it did then.   But the maid notices you pressing against the left side of your chest.   “My lady?”   You look into the vanity mirror where the young girl stares at you worriedly. “Are you alright? Prince Jungkook already told us that if you weren’t feeling well, you don’t have to attend the ball.”   You wave her off. “It’s fine.”   She hesitates but then nods, swiftly brushing out your hair to pin half of it up. You’re dressed in a gray gown, a simple ensemble with white flowers decorated sporadically through your hair as if you sat beneath a blossom tree. You’re glad you don’t look sick on the outside.   You’re tired of being cooped up inside of your room all day. Laying in bed is only so much fun after two weeks in a row. Not to mention, tonight is important. Jungkook will be making the announcement of dissolving your engagement. It’s the whole reason a ball was set up in the first place. There’s no better time to do it than in public — that way no advisor or even the King will be able to stop him.    But most of all, you’re afraid if you don’t leave, you won’t be able to see him.   He hasn’t visited and it’s not like you can call for him with the current state of your status and his own. But you still need to talk to Taehyung.   You need to tell him the truth.   The moment you arrive at the ballroom, your eyes immediately start to sweep the surroundings for brown eyes, dark hair. Your smile is softer than your usual forced one. He has to be here.   “Lady Anastasia!” A viscountess greets you. “I’m so glad to see you’re doing well. I heard about the awful incident.”   “Yes, well, I’m much better now.”   “It sounded so frightening!” Another says, “I wonder who could’ve done such a thing!”   You nod and before you can get completely swarmed by the elites feigning concern, you curtsy. “If you’ll excuse me…”   “Anastasia!” Luckily, a familiar girl comes through the crowd to save the day. Her eyes are bright and her smile is wide. Some mutter at how she dares to call you so intimately, but you pay no mind to them. Lucy looks like she wants to hug you, but for appearance sake, she merely takes your hand. “How are you feeling? Are you okay? I didn’t know if you were coming, so I was planning to visit you and—”   “I’m fine, Lucy. Thank you.”   The girl nods, and rescues you. You can tell it was intentional with the way she guides you out of the sea of people and you’re appreciative. You lean on her for support while looking around for Taehyung. You turn your head in each direction, eyes scrutinizing every person, but you can’t find him.   “Anastasia, I have something to tell you.” Once the two of you are in the corner of the room that allows for a private moment, Lucy shifts to you with anguish reflected in her eyes. “I should’ve been honest with you from the start, but I was denying it since the last thing I wanted was to hurt you. You’re my greatest friend and I love you more than anyone, so if you tell me to leave and never come back, I will in a heartbea—”   “Lucy.” You squeeze her hand. “Jungkook already told me everything.”   Her eyes are wide, brows lifted. You know.    She lowers her head in shame. “I’m sorry.”   The corner of your mouth pulls. “You have nothing to be sorry for.”   You expected this to happen. You have been waiting for it since the beginning. So it doesn’t break your heart like maybe it should. And maybe part of the reason is because of one person.   You frantically ask her what’s been plaguing you, “Lucy, have you seen Taehyung?”   “His Highness?” She shakes her head. “I haven’t.”   It’s odd. He’s always been there. Anywhere where you are. You could turn around and see him.    The mellifluous violins suddenly stop. Conversations simmer down and you hear a clearing of the voice in front of the room. Jungkook steps up the stairs in his princely attire and commands the attention of the crowd. “I have an important announcement to make.”   He looks at you and smiles, nodding his head. Jungkook’s lips part to speak.   All your efforts have been put into this one moment. A peaceful annulment of your engagement, the beginning spark of your freedom. After this, you’ll find Taehyung. You’ll find him and—   “I also have an important announcement.” The King rises from his throne, smiling at his son, and all turn towards him.   That moment’s been stolen away.   Jungkook’s smile falls. Lucy frowns. You step forward.   “I did not want to soil this good day, but now that everyone is gathered, it is only proper to announce that evil and treachery has once again been dispelled away from this empire.”   There’s a clamour. A ruckus of silver armour clanking against one another. Heads turn towards the back entrance where curtains have been drawn. And your breath hitches at the sight.   Taehyung. Finally, you see him, but rope wraps around his trembling wrists and he’s dragged in by two guards without regard for his well-being. The sea of people split and he’s tossed down in front of the throne. He winces upon impact, but no one helps. No one bats an eyelash.   Murmurs immediately spark throughout the room.   An advisor comes forward, reading from his scroll. “His Royal Highness, Taehyung, has been arrested on grounds of treason and attempted regicide committed against His Majesty.”   “Isn’t that the eldest son?” — “The bastard son.” — “Treason?” — “How could he do something like that? To his own father?”   You push a few aside, coming closer. “Taehyung.”    Jungkook comes down the steps, mouth drawing open. Lucy is frozen in her spot.   “There has been evidence found of his Royal Highness practicing the dark arts which has been banned in all of Ashea due to its dangerous and intrinsically evil nature.”   The malicious whispers swell, fear tangible in people’s eyes as those in front back away.   “His Highness has also dared to accuse the royal King of conspiracy. He endangered his Majesty’s life and attacked the guards of the palace, threatening the entire stability of Ashea.”    There are gasps. You shove someone aside to get past them.   “Therefore, as the punishment fits the crime, he will be sentenced to death immediately.”   No. No!   The King’s voice booms throughout the ballroom, a grand timbre that has long replaced the mellifluous violins. “Let this be a reminder that justice is blind. That my own blood will not be spared of crimes committed against the empire. But let this also be a celebration.”    The King inhales a breath, his shadow looming over Taehyung, his expression full of contempt. His status is as powerful as the countless eyes narrowed in around him. “Today marks the end of tyranny. Today is the end of evil. Today is the beginning of a new era, full of prosperity led by the Crown Princess and the Crown Prince, the only son I have.”   Thunderous applause erupts. It’s deafening with the vigour of a hundred.   Taehyung’s condemnation has been made into a spectacle, a show for the empire, merely an intermission of tonight’s festivities. No one sews doubt. No one dares to think of it. Not when this is merely a bastard son without title, status or wealth. It is not worth believing anything aside from the royal monarch.   In just a few words from the King, Taehyung has been the empire’s villain.   It’s pandemonium. The back of Taehyung’s collar is grabbed and he’s brought up to his bruised knees. Jungkook shouts— “Wait!”. But the Prince is held back by two guards who apologize to him, not allowing another step forward, not allowing him to interfere. But you’re within reach.   You push people aside, fighting against the current of the crowd. You’re so close, you can see him. You can see him looking at you. “Taehyung!”   He smiles at you and your breath hitches in your throat, a painful lump swollen at the bottom.    Your chest aches enough that you nearly crumble to your knees.    You watch as his arms are restrained, face ripped away from your direction. You see a female attendant approaching with a golden tray balancing a porcelain bowl of emerald liquid. It’s poison. The same way his mother died. And they force it in his open mouth, pouring it down his throat.    He chokes on it, sputtering.   “Taehyung!”   The scream is torn out of your blood-curdling throat. Animosity curls hot and surges from the depths of your soul like a blazing inferno. It’s a hatred befitting of a villainess that has seized your entire being and turned the universe into shades of crimson until it’s all you can see.   “Stop it.”   It’s a choice.   You know now that it’s presented to you. A choice between goodness and Taehyung. Between self-preservation and Taehyung. Between a peaceful life and Taehyung.   But you’d choose him every time.   “Stop it.”   Your hands wrap around the sword handle of the guard trying to control the frenzied crowd. The metal whistles as it cuts through the air and he staggers back. You use the entire strength of your body to push past the guard. “Stop it!”   You swing manically until the attendants and servants shriek. Until the bowl slips and shatters on the red carpet, poison spilled like blood splattered. Until they’ve gotten away from him.   Heavy pants escape your lips and you’re faced with horrified expressions of countless. There is no hero to save Taehyung. There has never been a hero to save the villain.   The sword in your grip clangs to the ground. You lurch towards Taehyung and pull his collapsed body into your arms, crying out his name, clasping his cold cheek in your palm. He doesn’t respond, doesn’t look at you like he should, doesn’t speak your name carefully like you want him to.   “Why?!”    Anger oozes from you through the form of hot tears slipping from your eyes. You raise your pupils to the mighty King, teeth gritted, his own condemnations on your tongue. “His mother was poisoned by the Queen and no one thought to comfort him. He grew up alone. Fending for himself. And even now, his other father…And for what reason?!”    Darkness bleeds from you. It sweeps from your shadow, pours out of your skin and plunges the entire castle into a thick darkness within a blink of an eye. The dark magic weeps from your soul in the form of a violent wind that has whipped through your hair. The flames of the candles suffocating to death, blazing fires are snubbed to ash and the silver moonlight is brought to an eclipse.   “Being born isn’t a sin. Taehyung hasn’t hurt anyone!”    Your voice tearing from your throat echoes above the shrill screams of sheer terror, ear-splitting to the senses. There is chaos of women around you grabbing fistfuls of their ballgowns and running blindly, men aimlessly trying to escape and bumping into one another. An undignified stampede.   “Help me!” — “Mommy! Where are you?!” — “Someone save me!” — “Please! Let me out!”   The walls and ceilings of the palace begin to tremble, specks falling down like the snow of December. The chandeliers swing from their golden chains, crystals clanging together.    The King stands from his throne, shouting madly but no one hears or follows his command. Your parents are frightened, yet they still stand by and call out your name, only to no avail. The four walls around the room start to crack, splintering in tens of paths like a mirror colliding against the concrete. And the darkness becomes overwhelming. It consumes your form like smoke, the hue of ink spilled on oil. It wraps its hands around your throat and submerges you completely.   You realize this is the end.   You and Taehyung still became the villainess and the villain. You couldn’t escape that fate. You were stupid to think you could have any semblance of control. Everything was inevitable.   You hug Taehyung to your body as heart aching sobs wreck through your frame. No matter how hard you try, you can’t keep him warm. You can’t stop the cold from taking him away.   The little changes you made wasn’t enough to alter the final ending.   It was never enough. Nothing’s really changed.   The last traces of darkness embedded in your soul spills over. “Anastasia!” And somewhere in the cacophony, you hear Jungkook and Lucy scream your name.    It’s funny how even with this horrible ending, you don’t resent them whatsoever. If anything, it’s an irony that the two main protagonists are the only people who know your true nature and Taehyung’s. They’re the only pair that believes in you, that knows Taehyung isn’t a villain.   You hope they can be happy together.   You hold Taehyung in your arms and before you can be absorbed in darkness, the both of you glow. His skin and yours illuminates like stars on a night sky, burning a warm light. Your brows furrow, the last of your tears shedding down your cheeks and then your breath hitches as a shade of emerald wisps floats from Taehyung’s parted lips.   You recognize the colour — it’s the same as the poison.   ‘I once knew a woman, a kind but poor woman.’ You get it now. ‘She wanted to do anything she could to change the predetermined fate of her unborn child.’ You finally understand as the priestess’ voice rings inside your head like a death knell. ‘She did a ritual to search for a soul that would protect her son.’   The black magic is saving Taehyung. The poison is being drawn out of his body. But you’re the trade-off.    The darkness will devour you to save him.    You quickly hug Taehyung closer to you, embracing him against your body. The darkness is consuming your being, but you’re not afraid. You don’t feel scared whatsoever.    This is your purpose after all, the reason why your soul is here in this universe. This is where your thread of fate entangles with Taehyung. It’s your final act as his destined protector.    Darkness swallows you.

It’s an empty void of pitch black. An abyss of nothing.   There’s a pressure on your shoulders. It’s heavy. Comforting. Eerie. All at the same time.   Yet it feels a bit different from being dead. Or at least from what you can remember. It’s as if you’re somewhere between the boundary of life and death. Your consciousness is still sharp and in-tact instead of being hazy. And you feel very much like Y/N and Anastasia rather than just being.   Your suspicions that this isn’t death is confirmed when you can make out a figure in the distance. It’s a line of light tracing a body and as you come closer, you’re able to make out a woman.   She’s dressed in simple attire, a gray dress that has fabrics layered on top of one another, light enough that they drape down and flow, and there’s a charcoal shawl around her shoulders. Her brunette hair is tied into a bun and as if she feels the pressure of your eyes, her bright irises turn towards you.   “I’m sorry I put you through this.”   Her voice is soothing. It sounds all around you and awakens a memory of when you were seven, when you saw her at the garden, when she offered you her kindness. And now that you’ve seen her again, she looks so much like Taehyung. The yearning in your heart is painful.   “I just wanted to save my son.”   “I know.”   “But I didn’t realize that if you died, everything would repeat.” The corners of her mouth upturns into a grieving smile, her gaze saddened. “Taehyung would have an even stronger reason for revenge.”   Blood drains from your face and you can hear it above you — Taehyung’s haunting voice, the many future paths and possibilities that you had tried to prevent.   “You killed her!” — “She was the only person I ever loved!” — “All I wanted was to be with her!”   You’ve failed. Even more than the original story. Your existence made things worse for him. It brought the empire to ash by his hand.   “I...I’m sorry.” You look at her, voice heavy in your throat. “I was given the chance to know everything, to live through it all, but I still made the wrong choices in the end. All of them. It never amounted to anything. I lost to fate.”   “It’s not your fault, Y/N.” Taehyung’s mother closes the distance with three steps and her hand lifts to tenderly cup your cheek. The pad of her thumb wipes away your teardrop. “I am thankful you were the one who was there for him.”   She vanishes before you before another syllable can be uttered from your lips. The particles of her body dissipate in thin air as if her appearance was just an imprinted memory embedded in the magic. You grasp the space in front of you and realize that it’s empty, that you’re alone.   “No,” you scream. “I-If I could do it again, I’d redo it all.”   The last remnants of magic in your soul tingles at your fingertips. It’s wielded in your complete control. And a thought strikes you. Your soul has manipulated space and time before. In this abyss...you can restart it. You can begin it all over again. You can make up for your mistakes.   You would start on that night. That night he came to your balcony. ‘I was going to take that secret to the grave, but I can’t stand by and watch you like this. I love you. Be with me.’   You would answer him with a yes. You would take his hands—   But no. It wouldn’t be enough. You need to keep turning back time.   Before the hunt and the feast. The debutante ball, the night of the Solar Festival eight years ago. Before the funeral and the moment you came to him. You need to save Taehyung’s mom.   “My son likes chocolate, but I only managed to get candy for today.” — “Your son?” — “Mom?”   If you returned to those days, you would’ve been quiet. You would’ve complied. You would make it so he never had to see you, so you two would never have to meet.   You wouldn’t allow yourself to exist.   As the memories plague you and time twists backwards, you realize that all those coincidences were never coincidences. The first meeting. The funeral. The Solar Festival. The reunion. It was fate.   But you can sever the thread. You can erase yourself from the story.   “Anastasia! Wait!”   Your wrist is taken and you’re suddenly yanked back into a firm chest before time can be moved to your will. A gasp pulls from your lungs and your eyes lift to meet brown ones. He found you.   “Don’t do it.” Taehyung’s grabbed a hold of you. He’s materialized into this limbo, but his skin is translucent, barely held together by his own magic. He gazes at you and begs, “Please.”   “H-How are you here?”   “I would never let you go so easily.”    It must run in the family — mother and son alike fighting against the laws of nature to alter fate through sheer will.    Taehyung’s found you through his magic, traveled realms and universes to follow you into this state of uncertainty between life and death. You don’t know if you feel happy or sad, or even laugh at the fact that no matter what you did, Taehyung still became a powerful magician. But you know he’s weakened, that he can’t be here for long. He is still on the side of life after all. There’s only so much time left before he’ll be forced away.    He’ll return. And his fate might be worse than it was before.   “I’m sorry.” You shake your head. “I don’t want you to die.”   Taehyung pulls you into him. His arms wrap around your frame and he tightly embraces you. Your face presses into his shoulder and he sighs against the strands of your hair. “I’m not going anywhere. Don’t change anything. Don’t go back. I don’t want to get rid of these memories.”   “But your mom.”   “It’s okay,” he murmurs, “It’s okay. I still don’t want you to change anything about you or me. What’s done is done. Just come back with me. You saved me so let me save you.”   “No one gets to decide what happens to us, other than us.” He promises, “I won’t let it happen.”   The urge to trust Taehyung runs deeper than your despair and doubts. So you inhale a deep breath and nod. No matter what happens, you’ll be together.    Taehyung smiles against you and before he slips from the realm of nothingness. The darkness around the pair of you disappears. You grab onto him tightly, bracing yourself and once you open your eyes, you find yourself returned to the ballroom, the dark magic no longer present.    It’s vanished from your soul. It doesn’t linger in the room. People are no longer screaming.    Instead, they pant, pressed up against the farthest side of the room, still shaking from fear. Fragments of the disaster still dwell by the debris, the broken chandeliers, and the cracked walls.   The King is disheveled and anger is aflame in his eyes. He inhales a heaving breath and then points to the both of you, bellowing, “Arrest them!”   But no one moves.   Taehyung keeps you in his arms and faces his father. “All I ever wanted was to be loved. And I finally found the person who can do so unequivocally. I wouldn’t give this up for the world.”   Your eyes meet your parents who make no efforts to stop you. They stand still, expressions impassive yet warm at the edges. Then your eyes stray to Lucy and Jungkook, apologetic.   Before another word can be spoken, Taehyung disappears with you.   It happens in a mere blink. Like the Summer breeze whisking away dandelion seeds to the far off meadow, a iridescent soap bubble in the azure sky popping. The both of you are gone.   Just like that.    You vanish in thin air with only traces of Taehyung’s magic left behind.   Instantly, there’s a ruckus — a clamour from the people. The King’s face crumples and reddens, and he shakes with an unadulterated fury. His voice booms throughout the room as he commands the guards. “Find them!”   But they never do.   And for that, Jungkook is relieved.

The King falls ill.
It happens shortly after the incident that soils the reputation of the entire empire and spreads across the lands. A tale of a forbidden love between villains — the Forgotten Prince and the Crown Prince’s fiancée. A story that warns children of dark magic and straying off their destined path. And it’s whispered from traders and merchants to the elite of nearby kingdoms.    For the rest of the months that the King is alive, he tries to search for his first son.   “Your Majesty.” A knight bows.   “What did you find?”   There’s a held silence. “The trail has gone cold.”   The King’s hand curls into a tight fist and he turns, snatching the golden gauntlet off the table to hurl it at the knight who flinches. The gauntlet slams into the floor, skidding off in the room and as the King huffs dryly and moves away, another knight arrives. He immediately bows.   “On with it!” he barks.   “The traces of magic have vanished. The Magicians of the Tower cannot trace it. They’re nowhere in sight, Your Majesty.”   The old man staggers on his feet. He presses his fingers against his pounding temples and before another shout can surge through his lungs and throat, he tilts and collapses onto the ground.    The golden crown clatters off his head.   “Your Majesty!”   It’s a twisted irony.    All of Taehyung’s life, he’s been neglected and ignored. Pushed to the corners of the castle — unwanted, unheard, unloved. But when the King is on his deathbed, the healers unable to cure him of his maddened anger that’s strained his health, Taehyung is all he looks for.   “Father.” Jungkook is at his bedside, kneeling with his brows tightly knitted.   The King turns his head and a dry wheeze chokes out of him. With his last breath, he asks, “Whe...re...is….T...ae...h...y..u..ng?”   The question is left unanswered.    He dies with his eyes still open, cold hand slipping out of his son’s, arm dropping over the edge.    Jungkook’s breath hitches in his nose, his eyes stinging painfully. But he shuts his lids tight and musters strength. In the next moment, he stands and turns to face the grieving advisors behind him. His voice is firm. Unwavering. “Announce the King’s death and prepare for an edict.”   The men exchange expressions. “What will the edict be, Your Majesty?”   “Anyone who sees my brother and harms him shall be executed under the crown.”   When Jungkook reigns, he undos all the indictments made by his father. It’s a surprise to all, an act difficult to understand to Dukes and commoners alike, but Jungkook clears Taehyung’s name alongside Lucienne de Liza Helena who becomes Queen in the following Spring.    Peace is once again brought to the empire of Ashea in the coming years.   Slowly but surely, the tales of the Prince’s Fiancée and the Forgotten Prince metamorphosizes from the tragic story of villains to children folktales of sacrifice and star-crossed lovers, an ancient mystery never solved.   There are those who wonder if they perished together in a meadow. And those who believe that the pair are perhaps still alive and wandering the lands hand in hand together.

[Epilogue]   “Cheyenne! Is that eggs?”   The young maid looks down at her tray. “Ummm….”    “What did I say? Her Majesty will get sick if she smells eggs!” The older girl quickly takes it away from her and puts it down. “Do you want to get into trouble?”   “I forgot, I swear!”   “You should be lucky that I caught you in time, and that the Queen is so forgiving. But if His Majesty saw…” She shakes her head. “He wouldn’t have any of it. Not when Her Majesty is in such a fragile state.”   She nods and the two of them quickly head back to the kitchen. But surprisingly, the head maid tells them there’s no need to deliver breakfast to Her Majesty’s chambers. They instead follow orders to hang up the sheets in the west courtyard. But on their way, the younger stops when her friend beckons her over. The conversation is only a minute before she’s catching up to the older girl.   “Slacking already?”   The younger maid pouts. “No. Kaylein was just telling me about the strange people.”   “What?”   “Did you not hear? There were two strange people who came earlier into the castle. Apparently they’re healers from a distant land.” Her eyes light up as she connects the dots. “That must be why Her Majesty isn’t having her breakfast!”   “Well thank goodness.” Her eyes dart around and she lowers her voice. “Ever since it was announced she was with child, everyone’s been worried about her health. Even the King doesn’t look like he’s slept well in months.”   The younger nods enthusiastically. “But this means Her Majesty will be safe, right?”   The older girl smiles. “Let’s hope so.”   ...   Half across the castle, Jungkook marches down the corridor in determined strides and eyes set firmly to the doors at the end. He’s already dismissed his annoyingly persistent advisors and every castle worker knows better than to interrupt him when he’s beelining straight ahead. No one disturbs him as they rightfully shouldn’t, and he gets to the chambers, opening the door only slightly to slip inside.   Inside, there are two cloaked figures, forms draped in complete black.   Or at least until they turn and Jungkook sees brown eyes with a meaningful expression and another with a mischievous grin who scoffs, “About time, Your Royal Majesty. Or should I say, late as always?”   Jungkook didn’t miss that sarcastic tone. Or at least that’s what he tells himself.   “When did you get here?”   “Ten minutes ago. You should be lucky we entered properly. I almost told Taehyung to just teleport us inside to save us the walk.”   “Well I’m glad you didn’t.” The corner of Jungkook’s mouth curls. “Or else my knights might’ve thought you were intruders and cut off your heads.”   “Psh. Uh-huh. If they can even catch us.”   “Shush, you two,” Taehyung commands and you glare at him playfully.   The man turns back to the Queen who’s upright in her bed and his hands hover over her. Her eyes are shut and she glows for a moment before the light dissipates. When it’s done, she sighs softly in relief and colour seems to return to her features.   “Thank you,” she murmurs and opens her eyes.   “How is she?” Jungkook rushes to her side.   Lucy smiles, clasping her hand on top of his. “I’m fine, Jungkook.”   “She should be better now,” Taehyung confirms. “Her energy was off balance and her mana was disordered. But she shouldn’t feel so tired anymore. It looks like the future heir is a magical user.”   “How lucky.” You press your nose into the crowd.   Jungkook ignores you. “So she should be okay now?”   “For the time being. Of course, I’m not a midwife so she should follow their instructions and rest.”   “See?” Lucy stands up while holding onto her swollen stomach and her husband rushes to help her. But she waves him off and hoists herself onto her feet. Lucy’s become a lot firmer since you remembered, her kindness almost matronly now. It might be from the experience she’s gained or how she’s going to be a mother soon. But you weren’t wrong when you thought she’d make a beloved Queen all those years ago. “You heard him. There’s no need to fret, Jungkook.”   “I know, I know. I just can’t help it.” He sighs and looks at his older brother. “You should stay.”   “Jungkook—”   “We don’t know when we’ll need you again. All those healers are useless compared to you. It’s better if you’re here. The Magician’s Tower would be happy to have your magical talents and it’s only right if Anna is here too.”   “We already talked about this.”   You add in, “We have this conversation every time.”   Jungkook gives the two of you a look. “Then maybe it’s time that you start considering it.”   “He’s right.” Lucy comes and takes your hands within her’s, holding them gently. “Stay with us, Anastasia. I miss you and I want to talk to you often.” Before you can jump in, she beats you to the punch, “and not just through letters. The palace will always welcome you. The people will open their eyes with time.”   The corner of your mouth pulls. “Is this a command, Your Majesty?”   She sighs softly with a smile and lets you go. “You know it isn’t.”   Lucy’s gotten older — all of you have. You’ve grown into your frames, matured, and are no longer children unaware and afraid. When you come here with Taehyung and see them, it makes you feel like you haven’t made such bad choices all along. That perhaps, things weren’t as bad as you once thought.   “Stay with us,” Jungkook insists, coming to hold onto Lucy to support her.   You look at Taehyung and exchange expressions. Your answer will always be the same.    “We can’t. You know we have a new home now.” You come to Taehyung’s side and he wraps his arm around your shoulder. The pair of you know it’s time. You can’t stay for long. “You can always come visit us. I promise the forest isn’t that bad. Taehyung’s already chased off the wild beasts.”   “I did.” He looks down and grins at you.   “At least think about it,” Jungkook sighs. He looks a bit tired and worn, but in spite of the heavy duties placed upon him as King, he’s coping well. Better than expected.   They might thank you and Taehyung each time you visit, but you have more than enough reasons to be grateful to the two of them. It’s because of Jungkook and Lucy that the Devereux house is still standing. You’ve seen them from afar — your parents look happy in their retirement, and Joan and Edith are still very much employed and gossiping about the latest scandals together.   It’s because of them that the guilt and burdens have lifted from you.   But even if you are indebted equally to each other, you can’t grant his wish.   “You know I’ve never liked castle life, Jungkook.” You loll your head to the side. “Our daughter has a bad habit of collecting ladybugs too, so I don’t think she’d suit it either.” You grin when Jungkook glares, recalling the first meeting back when you were children that you’ll never let go. “I just wonder who she gets her troublemaking personality from.”   Taehyung’s brow cocks.“Obviously from you.”    You look up at your husband and your smile softens. “Your daughter almost set my hair on fire yesterday using nothing but her hands.”   “She’ll make a talented magician,” he declares proudly.   You scoff and look at the two monarchs who are best fitted for their positions. “We shouldn’t leave her for long in case she floods the rooms again. But we’ll come when the boy’s born.”   The pair of them turn to one another and your mouth draws open. “Guess I ruined the surprise! Sorry! But it’s a boy! Congratulations again.”    You quickly laugh much to Lucy’s amusement and Jungkook’s surprise. Taehyung shakes his head as if he knew he should’ve just kept it to himself.    Before another word can be said, the pair of you disappear again. Right into thin air.   //   The wooden box of mementos are full of objects and trinkets, little memories made across the lands before you settled in the perfect forest bordering the meadow. But above it all is a neatly folded pink handkerchief that’s frayed at the hem from age.    You still can’t believe he kept it for so long. But you look at it with fondness.   It was the first right decision you’ve ever made.   “Taehyung.”   “Hmmm?”   “Would you believe me if I told you I came from another world?”   He’s quiet for a moment. “I would.” Before you can ask why, he says, “You were the only one who sat next to a crying kid underneath a tree without even knowing them.”   You laugh and he smiles, leaning in to plant a soft kiss to your lips as the midnight oil burns.   The cottage is quiet with your child fast asleep in the next room. The forest is tranquil too and as thick as the darkness is outside, it’s nothing but comforting.   “Do you ever want to go back to that world?” Taehyung asks after a moment.   You look at him, smile tender. “Why would I when my purpose is to be with you right here?”   This is all you wanted in two entire lifetimes — a long and fruitful life, full of peace and happiness.   And it’s only the beginning.

Let's talk about those two chapters!!!!!
You ask, we deliver! Let’s talk about my theories from the two preview chapters of Chain of Iron, shall we? So many thoughts, I’ll have to be brief with each one. Feel free to ask questions on anything I don’t mention or clarifications on points I do touch.
1. Belial. Who is he possessing? James would be so obvious it’s cheap. The fun plot twist would be Lucie, who complained in Chain of Gold that she’s also Belial’s granddaughter. It would go in perfect irony with Lucie’s line to Grace “I don’t want to do evil things” while she runs around being possessed by a Greater Demon killing innocent mundanes (and probably Shadowhunters too) in London. However, as marvelous as this sounds, it appears Belial is possessing a male body (unless it’s just written to mislead us). In that case, my next best guess (and something I DO NOT want happening) would be Matthew. He isn’t a descendant of Belial’s, but he is magically linked to James via the parabatai rune and bond, so that could be a loophole. What made me think that? At the Devil’s Tavern, Matthew wishes James gone for a second, and James ends up in the shadow realm, Belial’s realm, for the first time in four months.
2. There is something FISHY going on with Hypatia and the Helle Ruelle celebrating Lilith. Well, not really that. What stinks is that Cassandra would feel the need to explain Lilith’s history with the angels to us again and that Cordelia would spend another entire paragraph going over the ceremony performed when Shadowhunter babies are born. We know this already. She’s saying it for our benefit and for a reason. Are the warlocks hiding a Shadowhunter baby? Or alternatively, WHO DIDN’T GET THE CEREMONY? This could also be the answer to our previous question, because we know that “unbaptized” babies can be possessed by demons (like Jace after his rebirth in TMI) so it could solve the mystery of Belial’s possession without needing a blood relation. Or... WILL LILIHT MAKE AN APPEARANCE IN COI/COT?
3. Cordelia will go see Wayland the Smith in this book. When? Well, when Cortana starts burning her, of course. She’ll try to find answers everywhere, consulting books, Jem, even friendly warlocks perhaps, but eventually she’ll have to ask that faerie to take her to Wayland, Cortana’s legendary maker, and make a deal. NEVER PROMISE ANYTHING TO FAERIES, DAISY! That will be a mess.
4. I think the Gracelet doesn’t work in the shadow realm, which confirms that Belial didn’t cast the spell on the bracelet, because surely his magic would work in his own kindgom? James was thinking of the wedding in the tone he would under the effect of the Gracelet, and in the shadow realm he suddenly has a rather romantic view of Cordelia, like an avenging angel or “a goddess captured in a painting: Liberty or Victory leading the people.” Something to keep an eye on.
5. As we know, Grace and Christopher are supposed to get married, according to the misleading family tree. We don’t know if that will end up happening, but I suppose this is how they could grow closer: we know Lucie has been asking Kit for ingredients for their spells. When Lucie inevitably pulls away from the agreement with Grace because she doesn’t yet want to do full-on necromancy (good call, I hope she sticks by it but I doubt she will), Grace will need to ask Christopher directly - she can’t risk being seen at the Shadow Market, given her mother’s history, so he’s her best option.
6. Filomena di Angelo will be the name of the Italian Shadowhunter, I’m 99.9999999% sure at this point. Am I happy? No. Speaking as an Italian myself, Cassie couldn’t have picked a worse name. (Yes, it makes me smile that she and Rick Riordan exchange character names, but this name still doesn’t sound right or fitting. Happy to elaborate more in another post if you’re interested!)
7. As I’ve said before, to the delight of our Jordelia hearts, James has no intention whatsoever of cheating on Daisy or breaking his promise to her by seeing Grace. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to help it because Grace’s spell will compel him to go see her at one point. Sad angst and a loss of trust will ensue. UNLESS the magic of the MARRIAGE RUNES is stronger than the Gracelet and can counteract it. That would be dope. But that would also mean a win for us, and it’s only the second book...
8. The Lucie/Jesse content was too on the nose. it’s only the first two chapters and it’s 1903, stop flirting, goddammit. Apart from that, Lucie is being too reckless. She’ll get in trouble soon.
9. Matthew is going to behave with Cordelia. He would and will never put her in a compromising position or one where she would have to choose between him and James. The “”””kiss”””” was accidental, Cassie said as much in a Tumblr answer. I love their friendship, it’s one of my favorites. But trust me, it’s not going to go anywhere beyond that. Matthew may wish, but he will never act. He likes pursuing loves that are “hopeless”, it’s said as much in the text.
10. ANNA WAS TOTALLY FLIRTING WITH CORDELIA ON THE EVE OF HER WEDDING TO ANNA’S COUSIN, SCANDALOUS
11. Thomas and Alastair will finally speak at the wedding. Not make up yet, but have a conversation. I just hope Charles doesn’t magically come back from Paris to make an appearance.
12. THE NEXT CHAPTER WE READ WILL BE THE JORDELIA WEDDING (!!!) and all the adults will be there so we’ll see all our TID darlings as well. I am prepared to bet anything that Brother Zachariah will officiate the wedding. I cannot wait.
13. What the fùck was up with the reverse mermaid???????????
Need more analysis or clarifications on some points? Want help believing in Mucie and keeping your faith in Jordelia? WE’VE GOT YOU. Send me all your questions. I would prefer non-anonymous ones, so I can notify you!

I1+Nalu Only one bed @thegalilea3 request
The wedding of Laxus and Mirajane Dreyar was a cozy affair attended by only close family and friends. Neither had really wanted a lavish event, so a simple morning ceremony and luncheon in a beautiful garden was perfect. The bride and groom instead funneled the majority of their budget into food, drinks, and overnight lodging for the guests at a small nearby hotel. Lucy Heartfilia was happy to see her friend finally married and settled because Mira deserved it.
Though there was one odd thing about the luncheon— assigned seating. With only 21 people including the bride and groom, it seemed unnecessary. Plus, everyone except Lucy and one other person were a couple anyways. Maybe it was to ensure everyone was accounted for, only Mira knew. As it was, it also meant Lucy was sat next to the only other single... Natsu Dragneel. It was a bit weird, but not a big deal. Natsu was her close friend after all.
The day was perfect in every regard. Clear skies, light breeze with warm sunshine, great food, and jovial company. It was a nice reprieve from Lucy’s job in the city. She missed spending time with her friends, especially Natsu and this provided a perfect couple of days to relax in the countryside. They were best friends, her unrequited high school crush until adulthood sent them onto different paths. University, then careers. The pair stayed in touch as often as possible, but both were busy in their endeavors.
“How has it been at the magazine,” Natsu questioned Lucy. “I see you’ve made it to junior editor.”
“Oh,” she laughed, “yeah, but it’s still a glorified title. I’m really just my bosses assistant.”
“It’s still a big step,” he smiled back.
“What about you?”
“They’re sending me to EMT training next month. So, I’ll be a specialized firefighter.”
“That sounds exciting.”
“I guess,” Natsu shrugged, “I prefer the action.”
Lucy chuckled, eyes crinkling in a smile, “same ‘ole Natsu.”
“Hey you two,” Mirajane waved as she walked over. “How is everything?”
“Hi Mira! Everything is perfect, you did a fantastic job planning it.”
“Aww, thanks Lucy.”
“I was surprised that Laxus finally caved.”
Lucy slapped Natsu’s chest for the comment, but if only made Mira laugh.
“I threatened to leave if he didn’t just get this over with. Anyway, the reason I came over is I just received a call from the hotel and it seems they made a mistake in my booking. Instead of 11 rooms, they only booked 10. Unfortunately... they’re also full.”
“So, what does that mean?” Natsu questioned the woman.
“Well, as singles I had booked you guys your own rooms, because the couples have theirs, which means one of you now doesn’t have one.”
“Oh. It’s okay Mira, I can try and find a room elsewhere for the night,” Lucy chimed in. “Don’t worry about it, it wasn’t your fault.”
“Why don’t we just share it?” Natsu then suggests to Lucy. “When we check in, we’ll just ask for a room with two beds.”
“Are you sure,” both Lucy and Mira questioned at the same time.
“Why not? I mean, I don’t mind.”
“Lucy would you be okay with that?” Mira questioned her friend. “I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”
Lucy looked at Natsu, then back to Mira. “I’ll be okay. I mean, he’s not a stranger to me.” She laughed although inside she was a bit nervous about sharing a room with him.
“I won’t bite,” Natsu put his hands up in defense. “I swear.”
“Weirdo!” Lucy laughed.
Mira laughed as well. “Great! I’ll let the hotel know the room will be a double occupancy. You guys enjoy the rest of party. Check in is anytime after 4pm.”
“Thanks Mira. And congratulations again!”
Everything will be fine, Lucy assured herself. It’s just Natsu. She knows Natsu. He’s harmless. Spending one night alone together won’t kill her. Just think of it as more time to catch up. Maybe find out why he’s still single. ‘Stop that!’ Lucy chided her mind. She is not asking him that kind of question! Even though she is curious... more so now after having spent the last 4 hours being reminded of what a great guy he was. All the reason she’d crushed on him, his warmth, oof, his smile...
“Wait what?!” Lucy shrieked at the hotel receptionist. “There’s no rooms with two beds?”
“I’m very sorry ma’am, but we only have a few of those and they’re all taken already.”
“What about a roll-away?”
Again the woman shook her head. “We’re just a small country inn. We don’t have those.”
“Oh... my god...” Lucy breathed out. She’d have to share a bed with Natsu?!
Speaking of the man, at that moment, he gently coaxed Lucy away from the receptionist. “We’ll make it work, don’t worry, she’ll be fine,” he assured the woman. “Just give us the keys and we’ll be on our way.”
Once inside of the hotel room, Lucy surveyed their predicament. It was a king sized bed. Great, at least it provided a decent amount of space between them, and it was a very nice room... a bit too nice compared to a standard hotel room. Strange, but maybe it was the only option left because of the full capacity. Well, guess it wasn’t such a bad thing. She could think of it as a sleepover, like the kind they would have when they were teenagers.
The first thing Lucy did was change out of her formal party attire into something comfortable. When she exited the bathroom, Natsu was lounging on the bed, looking through the pamphlets the hotel left on the nightstand.
“What’re you reading?” She questioned him.
“It’s a pretty small hotel, no services, but they do have a restaurant open for lunch and dinner... oh and a pool.”
Lucy hadn’t brought a swim suit, so the pool was out of the question. “What time is the restaurant open till?”
“Um... 9pm.”
“Good. I’m not hungry yet, but in a couple of hours I will be.”
For the rest of the evening Natsu was weirdly quiet. He talked as needed, but it almost felt to Lucy as if he was trying to avoid something. Or maybe it was all in her head. Maybe Natsu was just as nervous as she was about arraignment and was doing his best not to make it uncomfortable. Their conversations were pleasant enough, catching up on their lives, their families, any new interests they may have developed. They’d become functional members of the community in careers they enjoyed. For all intents and purposes, their lives were normal, happy on the surface.
Around 11pm the pair agreed it was time to get some shut eye. It had been a long and contented day, but tomorrow they’d return to their own lives. They chose their respective sides, turning off the light and settled into bed facing away from each other.
As Lucy lay there, she reflected on how things had turned out and of their day. The thoughts in her mind loud against the silence of the darkened room. It felt weird, knowing Natsu lay less then two feet away. Or maybe it was simply weird sleeping in a bed with another person. It had been a couple years since her last failed relationship, so she wasn’t used to this feeling anymore. She didn’t know how many minutes had passed by when she’d heard Natsu shift in the bed and his voice, soft and hesitant cut through the inky blackness.
“Do you ever think about... us Lucy?”
What does he mean? “Us?” She parroted.
“I do sometimes,” Natsu continued. “I think about, what our lives would be like if I’d grown some balls and asked you out years ago... where would we be today?”
Lucy’s breathing slowed as she processed his words. Had she thought of it? Moisture slowly filled her eyes. Yes— yes she had, many, many times over the years. Every time a relationship failed, she thought about it. But she never blamed him because she was just as guilty for not saying something sooner. Yet here he was posing such a question.
Her eyes closed as she spoke. “What are you trying to say Natsu?” She felt him turn over and shift again, then a hand pulling, coaxing her to face him. Once she’d switched sides, Lucy could see his shadowed face, oozing with regret.
“I’m saying...” Natsu reached out and took her hand. “I wish we were an us. I’m saying I want to lay like this every night next to you, to wake up beside you, come home to you. Im saying... I don’t want this to end.”
Lucy squeezed his hand back. “Idiot!” Tears prickling the corners of her eyes. “Why didn’t you say something sooner!”
“I was afraid! Okay?! I thought you deserved better than me and I’d just hold you back!”
“Better?! It was always better together! All these years I’d been lonely and miserable cause no one could replace you!”
“I’m sorry!!”
A few seconds after the last words are screamed, laughter broke out from the two. Unrefined laughter at their own stupidity. They’d both been pining all these years and it took being stuck in a room together for it all to come crashing out.
“Natsu...” Lucy squeezed his hand again, “I’d really love to be an us too.”
He reached over and caressed her face. “I’ve always loved you Lucy, and I wanna make up for all the years we lost. But I have a confession to make.”
Oh, god what the hell now?! “What are you, actually married? No, divorced? Secret kids?! What?!” Lucy trembled as her euphoria threatened to crash down again.
Natsu scratched the back of his head nervously. “No! Nothing like that. The hotel didn’t make a mistake. Mira and I set this up so I could confess. I’d planned to do it earlier but couldn’t work up the nerve until I realized I was running out of time again...”
“Ohhh! Is that it?!” Lucy’s head lolled as she groaned. “You damn goof! You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Im sorry!” He chuckled. “I just didn’t want you to find out later. And don’t blame Mira, it was my idea. I’ll make it all up, I promise. I’ll make you forget about those years of loneliness. I’m gonna make you so happy you—”
Lucy sighed. “Natsu?”
“Huh, yeah?”
“Just shut up and kiss me already.”

BE MY DATE
*I am having doubts to post this because I’m not really sure if someone will like it, but here I am trying my luck. 😊
Oh my, T.T I’m sooooo nervous...! 😳
*Disclaimer: Fairy Tail, and the characters are owned by Hiro Mashima.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How about the girl yesterday?", Natsu asked his raven-haired friend.
Natsu and Lucy are getting married in two months, and they are very excited for that day to come. However, they don't want their friend to be alone in their special day. Yes, all their friends will be there, but it is different for Gray. So, they've been suggesting some girls for him that he can bring as his date for their wedding day.
The wedding they wanted was just a simple ceremony, where only their family and friends are the only ones who will join them. Lucy invited some of her close friends at work and Natsu did the same.
Gray rolled his eyes, "Can both of you stop it already? I told you. I'm fine going there by myself, and I don't have a plan to see that girl from yesterday again.". Gray grabbed his glass then gulped the beer in one go.
Natsu and Lucy looked at each other for a few seconds then back to Gray. "Why? What happened?', Natsu curiously asked.
"Nothing. We just don’t get along so well.", Gray coldly responded.
"Again?", Lucy said annoyingly with her arms crossed. "You are always giving us the same reason over and over again with the girls that we introduced to you, or to the other girls you just met.". She sighed, "Don't tell me you haven't moved on with ---."
Natsu suddenly held Lucy's hand and she looked at him. Natsu stopped Lucy from continuing her words because he noticed that Gray was now getting irritated. Lucy looked back at Gray and she realized why her fiancé did that.
Last year, Gray broke up with his ex-girlfriend after being in a relationship for two years because she just decided to end their relationship without talking to him. Then, two months after he saw her being intimate with someone else. He was so furious, and about to confront them, but Natsu stopped him for making a scene in public.
Gray knew that it was his faults that their relationship ended, but she should've talk to him and fix everything, or maybe end it in a good way.
He moved on alright, but he just don't want to bring up that topic anymore or talk about it.
Lucy rested her arms on the table. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."
Gray gave Lucy a half-smile then nodded. "It's fine. Let's drop it already. And ---", raised his hand. "For the last time, I'll be fine."
"We know that, but of course, we want you to enjoy life. You are always working, always busy. We had to drag you here for you to hang out with us. And maybe… just maybe it is time for you to be in a relationship again. You know?", Lucy worriedly told it to her friend in front of her.
Gray lowered his head as a sign of surrendering. He knew that Lucy will not stop bugging him unless he will bring a date on their wedding. They've been having this conversation since the couple announced their plan of getting married to all of their friends five months ago.
Natsu laughed while looking at his defeated friend that was being pestered by his fiancé.
"Let him breath, Luce. He'll find someone.", Natsu said while softly patting Lucy's shoulder.
Lucy gave up for now. She leaned her back on her chair backrest then once again crossed her arms, "Okay, I'll let it slide this time."
"Oh mavis, thank you!", Gray threw his fist in the air celebrating his freedom, but he knew that Lucy will continue bugging him about it. His friends meant well when they were introducing some girls to him, but he got tired for doing the same process. Telling their names, work, hobby, and sometimes he had to make some excuses so he can't go to that date they planned for him.
He is freaking Gray Fullbuster. A handsome man, smart, wealthy, a heartthrob since high school until now. Girls easily falls for him, but he is not a type of a guy who uses those traits to get a girl. Okay, maybe sometimes when he feels like it. But he can meet and date someone without a help from his friends. He was only agreeing so they can stop annoying him, and to be honest, he's not thinking of being in a relationship again. Not now.
>>><<<
A week after, Gray was sitting in a private room at the bar with Natsu and Lucy again with their other friends to celebrate the birthday of Loke. As usual, they had to force him again to come out from his hive. He's satisfied enough with a beer on his hand and maybe after an hour or two he'll drive back home. But he then noticed that one of their friends haven't arrived yet.
"Where is Cana?", he asked while looking between Natsu and Lucy.
"She's on her way here with Juvia.", Lucy responded. "Oh! I invited her Loke. Is that okay? You all have met her 2 weeks ago in our company retreat, right? And she is also invited in our wedding."
"The beautiful blue-haired sexy-as hell-shy girl?", Lucy frowned on how Loke describe her friend from work. "Uhm, yeah… that is her." Lucy glared at Loke. "Do you really need to describe her like that?"
"Why? I'm just telling the truth, and FYI, I'm not the one who came up with that words.", Loke defensively explained.
"Who did?", Erza joined the conversation. Loke gulped when he heard Erza's voice then he nervously turned his head to Gray's direction. Erza and Lucy frowned staring at Gray while Natsu was laughing his heart out.
"Gray?", Lucy questionably looked at her black-haired friend, but he averted his eyes to somewhere else.
Juvia. A very familiar name that he heard for so many times in one day, and when Lucy mentioned the name, a beautiful blue-haired sexy-as hell-shy girl appeared in his mind. She became the topic of Natsu, Loke, and Gray the day after the retreat when they were in the bar. He really did describe her like that, and both Natsu and Loke teased him about it. Saying that he likes her. Gray didn't deny, but he told to his two friends to keep it a secret, but thanks to Loke who ruined it.
The moment his eyes laid on Juvia at the retreat, he was already captivated by her. He liked the color of her hair, her pale skin that shines under the sun, and the shy smile that she was showing to anyone that talked to her. He tried to focus on something else or someone else, but his gaze kept on going back to the beautiful blue-haired girl.
He wanted and tried to talk to her, but never got a chance because she was always being pulled by her co-workers, especially men. They were flirting with her, and it was obvious that she was uncomfortable. She had to excuse herself, and sometimes Lucy had to drag her away from them.
He'd noticed that some guys were checking her out and were trying to get her attention. He even saw Loke naughtily staring at her too. What a player. He then realized that he was not different with those guys and Loke because he was doing the same thing. Hey, he is a guy and it is normal to be attracted with a woman with a nice body and she totally has one. She was not wearing revealing clothes, but it was still showing her perfect curves.
When she finally joined Lucy on the table, the blonde girl introduced Juvia to her friends. And Gray had a chance to look at her up-close. Damn! She is really beautiful. The very first words he said in his mind. Their eyes met a few times, but she was always the first one to look away while showing a pink tint on her cheeks. He found her cute and interesting.
He didn't understand himself why he chickened out to talk to her that day. He got his own ways to get a girl; easy and fast. But he can't find any reason why he wasn't able to do it with Juvia.
"Why is she with Cana?", Loke asked after taking a sip on his beer.
"Those two.", Lucy chuckled. "They've gotten closer after the retreat. I can't believe they did because we all know that Cana is wild and free, unlike Juvia who is quiet and shy. They are really opposite, but Cana said she really likes her."
"I like her too.", all eyes stared at Erza, and she frowned in confusion. "What? She's sweet, she has a funny side that I found cute, and the way she talks, it's adorable. She is a unique girl, and I want her to be my friend too."
The way she talks… Gray secretly smiled remembering the woman who speaks in third person. Erza is right. She really is a unique girl. She's the only person he heard talking like that. It was weird at first, but when he kept on hearing her sweet voice. It didn't matter anymore. He liked it and can't wait to hear her voice again.
>>><<<
"Hello bitches!", the door swung open revealing the person they've been waiting for. Cana excitedly entered the room then greeting each of her friends with a tight hug.
"What took you so long?", Natsu asked while receiving the hug from Cana.
"Oh… I went shopping, and it was really hard to find this perfect dress.", she proudly turned around to show off her tight black sexy dress.
"We are celebrating my birthday though, unless you forgot.", Loke handed her a glass of wine.
Cana took the wine then sat beside Lucy, "I didn’t honey, but I have a date later, so ---", winked sexily at Loke.
Loke rolled his eyes, Natsu and Lucy smiled, Erza just shook her head, but the other person inside the room couldn’t care less. He was so happy deep inside when Cana showed up, and immediately looked at the door expecting other person to appear, but no one came in until the door shut closed. He wanted to ask Cana, but he didn't want to receive any teasing from his friends tonight, so he chose to stay quiet.
"Where is Juvia?", at last! Thank you, Lucy. Gray thanked his blonde friend secretly for finally asking. He looked at Cana and anxiously waiting for an answer.
Cana sipped on her glass before answer, "She run into someone on our way here, and told me to go first, but she'll be here soon."
Gray finally relaxed knowing that she was really here, but he was getting impatient because he really wanted to see her now.
"Someone I know too?", Lucy curiously asked. "Nope, I don't think so. It was a girl. Although, guys are probably lining themselves right now at her for what she is wearing tonight.", she laughed.
Gray abruptly stood up making his friends confusingly looked at him. He cleared his throat and finding an excuse to tell them. "Uhm, restroom…", he simply said then began walking towards the door.
Gray stretched his hand to open the door, but someone already did it for him. He froze from where he was standing staring at the woman he's been itching to see and can't even stop himself for checking her out. She was looking so damn hot with the light blue short dress she was wearing; different from the last time he saw her. The dress was embracing her curves, his eyes trailed down on her revealing cleavage that was popping up and down as she breaths. Why is she panting? And her legs that also didn’t prevent him to examine. Those nice long legs.
"Juvia!", Gray got lost in his thoughts when Cana and Lucy shouted her name. He looked at her, meeting her midnight blue eyes. "Gray! Let her in!", he stepped away when he heard Erza quietly shouted at him. "My bad. Uhm, excuse me.", he passed by Juvia and left the room.
"Damn Juvia babe, you are looking good today."
"See I told you. She is stunning…"
"You really are Juvia…"
Gray heard all the compliments his friends was saying to the girl who just arrived.
"Juvia is a bit uncomfortable though ---"
He had heard her sweet voice again, but when the door finally closes, he took a last look at the door before walking to the restroom.
Inside the private room, Juvia was sitting between Lucy and Loke, and they were having a conversation. But she kept on looking at the door, thinking about the raven-haired man who hadn't returned yet.
Gray-sama. She blushed when she said his name inside her mind. Then the memory of the retreat went back recalling the moment her eyes landed on him. He was wearing a plain black long sleeve shirt, demin pants, and a white rubber shoes. Simple, but so handsome. He was just quietly sitting on the table with Lucy and their friends, busy drinking his beer.
She was in-demand that day, praising her for doing a great job organizing the retreat with two of her co-workers, but Juvia mostly did the job. It was well-planned and done professionally. She was really tired but didn't want to be rude when her co-workers or even the bosses were talking to her. Yet, her eyes were still taking some quick peek to the most handsome man she found in the event.
She was getting uncomfortable when some of the guys from her work were asking her out. She knew them being a womanizers', so she was avoiding them as much as possible. She doesn’t want her name to be put in their lists, and she is not that type of a girl. They have looks, but not her type.
When she finally had time to breath, Lucy pulled her into their table and introduced her to the people surrounding the table. Staring at Gray from a far was enough for her, but her being in the same table with him was too much. Her heart was beating so fast, and she can feel her cheeks getting warmer every time she and Gray were meeting each other's eyes.
She was having the same feeling now that she was in the same place with Gray again. Although, he's not returning yet. She quite missed his presence.
>>><<<
The small room was filled with laughter's, stories being shared, and just enjoying the birthday celebration of Loke. The first time Juvia spent her time with Lucy's friend she felt really comfortable and she was glad she came along. She was engaged in a conversation with Lucy, Erza, and Cana. She was really having a great time, and really enjoying the company of the people inside the room.
All of them were laughing with the jokes that Loke had been telling them, but they stopped when the door suddenly opened then all eyes were looking at Gray who just came back.
"What took you so long ice prick?!", Natsu asked.
"It is nothing that you need to know.", Gray responded coldly.
"Being grumpy again, aren't we Mr. Fullbuster?", Cana said in a teasing way.
Gray rolled his eyes and about to sat on the chair near him, but Loke stopped him and pulled him to sit beside him. That made him settle between Loke and Juvia. His arm brushed against Juvia's, but he didn’t forget to apologize which she shyly accepted.
"You don't have that with you earlier.", Erza pointing the blazer he was holding.
"It's chilly in here.", he said while putting the blazer on and being careful not to bump Juvia again.
Natsu smirked, "That's new. What happened to "cold never bother you anyway", huh?"
"Just shut up.", Gray leaned forward to get his glass of beer then made himself comfortable on his chair.
The celebration continued, Loke and Natsu started their battle in a drinking game. Lucy was cheering her fiancé while Cana was doing the same with Loke, and Erza was busy talking to someone on the phone.
Gray shook his head, didn't want to know why he was in the same room with his idiotic friends doing some silly game, but he didn't miss a single chance to take a glance at the blue-haired girl beside him. She was smiling and giggling while watching Natsu and Loke having their best time of the night.
They haven't said a single word to each other since Gray got back from the "restroom" beside from saying sorry when he accidentally bumped her shoulder earlier, and that was an hour ago, but Gray kept noticing something about her. Like, she doesn't like drinking much because she barely touched her drink, but he can tell that she was already intoxicated; she is a lightweight drinker. She probably likes Nachos because that's the only snacks she's been eating. She smiles a lot and can really handle a conversation so well for someone who is a shy person like her, maybe because she's already used of dealing with people. Lastly, she was uncomfortable with the dress she's wearing because she kept on fixing her dress from top to bottom.
That's the reason why he had his blazer when he got back. When he heard her saying she was uncomfortable, he just walked out from the bar then went straight where he parked his car. It was like his subconscious spoke in his behalf.
Erza had joined the drinking game, and she was playing it with Cana. Juvia leaned forward to get another piece of Nachos, but she was not the only one who is doing the same thing. Gray reached for a piece as well, both stopped and looked at each other, but Juvia back away immediately.
"Juvia is sorry. Gray-sama can have some first."
Gray frowned after hearing the way she called him. What did she just call me? Juvia was staring him, waiting for him to get a nacho, but he was just stuck in his position.
"Gray-sama?", Juvia called him while looking at him with her big midnight blue eyes.
He cleared his throat then leaned back and fixed himself. "No, it’s okay. You go first."
She nodded, "Thank you." She reached for the nachos then happily ate it.
Gray was watching her enjoying the piece on her hand and he can't help himself from smiling.
"You really like that, huh?", Juvia quickly turned her head at Gray, thinking if he was really talking to her. But her thoughts vanished when she realized that Gray's eyes were secured on her while wearing a smile. So handsome.
Juvia slightly shook her head, removing the thoughts of melting in front of Gray because of his attractive, and sexy smile.
"It's one of Juvia's favorite...", took another piece of nachos and dipped it into its sauce. Gray watched her taking satisfaction in the snacks she's been eating.
"I can tell.", he smirked. Juvia looked at him with confusion. He then realized what he said. She must be thinking that I've been watching her. Well, that was really what he was doing, but he didn't want her to get a wrong idea.
He cleared his throat then looked at Juvia, "It's just --- it isn’t hard not to notice."
"Gray-sama was watching Juvia?", she said with a disgusting look.
"What? No, no, not like that. I'm not --- I'm not watching you…", Juvia giggled by Gray being all defensive.
"Juvia is just kidding Gray-sama." Her laughter continued, so natural when talking to him. Maybe the alcohol helped, or maybe she was just really feeling comfortable with the people surrounding her. Gray's lips curved into smile, and their conversation grew. They didn’t even notice that their friends were watching them.
Their friends looked at each other then back to the two persons who seemed busy with each other's company. Lucy who kept on pushing Gray to have a date on her wedding day stared at her fiancé and gave him a mischievous smile which Natsu already understands.
Erza gestured to her friends to leave the two alone and have their time to get to know each other which they all nodded and go on with what they were doing.
>>><<<
It was getting late, but the birthday celebration was far from over. What happened of going home in an hour or two, Gray?
Being in their own world and still not minding the other people inside the room, Gray and Juvia already shared a lot of things to each other. Gray is not usually the one who talk much. His friends know that, and if he was in a blind date, the girl was mostly doing the talking, yet with Juvia; it’s different. Good different.
"Is that Gray-sama's favorite? Juvia haven't tried it yet, but Juvia would like too if Gray-sama will be the one taking her." she shyly smiled, but her smile vanished seconds after she realized what she said. Gray-sama must be thinking that Juvia is flirting with him. What an idiot! Juvia internally smacked her head for saying those words.
Meanwhile, Gray was caught off guard after hearing her invitation. He blinked for a second, wasn't expecting from a shy girl like her to casually ask him out. But he smiled right away, liking the idea of him spending a day with Juvia.
"Uhm, Juvia… Juvia doesn't…doesn't mean it like that. What she meant was, Gray-sama can… can tell Juvia where to buy one, and… and she will try it. Yeah, that's what she meant.", she exhaled then smile awkwardly, trying to sound convincing, but Gray was just smiling at her for getting flustered.
Gray sat properly then loosened his tie, returning his gaze to Juvia. "What is the point of telling it to you if I can take you there by myself?", his sexy voice gave Juvia chills. Her cheeks became crimson red, eyes widen while looking at the handsome man beside her.
She wanted to say something, but no words are coming out. She was stuck and just having an eye contact with Gray whose smile didn't went away.
Their little time of staring at each other got interrupted when they both heard someone cleared their throat and when they both turned their head, Loke and Natsu were standing in front of them with their arms crossed.
"We are not ruining something in here, are we?", Loke said while smiling playfully and looking at Gray.
Gray wanted to punch Loke and Natsu in their stomach right now for disturbing his pleasant moment with Juvia. He quickly went back to his old self the moment he looked at his "good-for-nothing" friends.
"What do you want?", his voice changed as well. Natsu and Loke knew that he was pissed, but of course, they didn't care. They even liked it.
"We're going to change location.", Loke said.
Then Natsu glanced at Juvia then back to Gray. "You two still like to join us, or ---?", the pink-haired man mischievously smiled at Gray that seemed like he was telling something to him which the raven-haired man understands immediately.
Juvia checked the time using her phone, and Gray averted his attention back to her. Then Juvia looked up meeting his eyes, immediately knew that something was troubling her by her wearing a frown on her face.
"What's wrong?", he worriedly asked.
Juvia gave everyone an apologetic smile then put his phone back inside her bag. "Juvia is sorry everyone, but she can't no longer join, and she needs to go now."
Disappointment showed in their faces, especially the man beside her. Gray was really having a good time talking to her and wanted to spend more time with her, but of course she must have a valid reason why she needed to go.
"Oh right!", everyone looked at Lucy. "You need to go the airport early in the morning tomorrow to see your brother."
Juvia nodded with a smile, "That is right, but Juvia still wanted to join you guys. If isn't because of her ---."
"It's alright Juvia. We can still hang out next time. No worries.". Erza winked then sweetly smiling at her. Juvia nodded with a same smile she received from Erza. She stood up, placing the strap of her bag on her shoulder. "Juvia had a great time. Thank you so much for inviting her." She then faced Loke, "Happy Birthday Loke-san."
Loke happily gave her a grin and waved at her, the other did the same as well, except one. Juvia said her final goodbye to her newfound friends, but before exiting the room she looked at Gray, but he just gave her half smile.
>>><<<
Juvia was standing outside the bar, waiting for a taxi. She left 10 minutes ago, but she was still at the place where she had spent a great time with her new friends, and with a certain someone.
She kept on looking back at the entrance of the bar. Arguing with herself whether to go back inside or not. She even gave Gray hint, hoping he can drive her back to her apartment, but she guesses her hint was not that obvious. Or he was just so dense to notice it.
She didn't want to leave because she still wanted to get to know Gray a bit more, but she also doesn’t want to disappoint his brother because she made a promise. A promise that she will pick him up at the airport from his business trip. Nothing special really, but she and her brother are really close even though they are really not related to each other.
It is already late, but people kept on going in and out from the bar, and it was hard to get a taxi as well. Busy night.
She was hugging herself because of the cold that was touching her skin. It was Cana's fault for forcing her to wear a dress that she's not used to, it was quite revealing. She can feel some eyes ogling her and also some cars honking their horns at her, and she can't help but feel uncomfortable, worried, and alarmed.
"What's taking it so long?", she mumbled. Now getting frustrated because she's been waiting for too long. After a few minutes, she finally saw a taxi coming. She raised her hand and started waving at the taxi, but it just drove passed her.
She sighed and her shoulders dropped down. Suddenly, someone stood behind her and put a blazer on top of her shoulder, covering her skin from the cold. She nervously jumped and quickly turned around with her eyes wide open. When she saw the person behind her, her eyes soften and exhaled deeply. Feeling relaxed and safe.
"Gray-sama."
Earlier, when Juvia left the room, Gray was really disappointed. He wanted her to stay, but when he heard her reason for leaving, he had no reason to stop her. He grabbed his glass of beer and drunk what's left then placed it back on the table when he was done.
Then he leaned lazily on his seat followed by furiously rubbing his hair. He already missed her presence, longing for her company, and he didn't get to feel this feeling with other women he had met. He doesn't even remember some of their names.
His heart aches, but he was sure that if Juvia by his side, it will heal. She really did something to him, even if she's not aware of it. Damn, he's not sure what was it either. But she was driving him crazy and had a strong desire to see her more in the future.
While he was sulking like a heartbroken teenager, he was not aware of his friend’s eyes staring at him. No one was talking until Erza broke the silence.
"What are you doing?", Erza's firm voice made Gray sat up straight. When he realized that the red-haired girl was talking to him, he confusingly frowned and felt the eyes fixed on him.
"What?", he responded coldly.
"Are you just going to let her go home by herself?", Cana asked with her arms crossed.
"You are stupid if you let that amazing woman slip out of your hand.", Erza plainly added.
Gray gave his friends a confused look, but honestly, he had an idea of what they were talking about. There is no doubt that he likes her, and there was enough sign that him and Juvia were on the same page.
"Go after her Gray.", Lucy said while smiling at her friend.
Gray nodded, immediately understand Lucy's words. "Yeah, I should."
Why didn't he think about it earlier? Instead of moping in his seat like an idiot. He had to smile at himself for losing focus because of the blue-haired girl. He smiled at his friends, "Thanks guys."
After that, he immediately stood up, grabbed his blazer and left the room. He was not sure if he can still catch up with Juvia, but he was hoping he can. When he got outside, he smiled and thanking the whole world because she was still there. He noticed her for feeling uncomfortable in where she was standing, he saw guys looking at her, he heard cars honking their horns at her, and because of the cold touching her pale, delicate, soft skin.
He watched her raising her hand for calling a taxi, he was about to call her name, but when the taxi didn’t stop in front of her, he noticed her shoulders dropped and that was when he began his move.
>>><<<
"Gray-sama."
"I'm glad you're still here."
They looked at each other, but Juvia was still in the process if Gray was really standing in front of her. She touched his cheek then when she felt a warm skin, she smiled happily. "Gray-sama is really here."
He smirked, and can't stop himself from laughing quietly, "Of course I'm here."
"What is Gray-sama doing here?", she asked. "Juvia thought ---"
She wasn't able to finish her words when Gray cupped her right cheek with his palm. "I can't just let a beautiful woman like you go home by herself. Especially, wearing like that."
He examined her from top to bottom for the second time, but he did not do it maliciously. However, despite of the cold she was feeling, her cheeks were blushing so badly that she felt some warmth sensation from what Gray just said.
Rather than responding with words, she placed her hand on top of his hand where he was cupping her cheek and smiled sweetly.
"Please allow me to take you home Juvia. So, I can spend more time with you."
Gray took her hand and he put them down together. Their hands were now intertwined, and no one was planning to let go.
"It was just a 40-minute drive Gray-sama.", she giggled. "But Juvia doesn't mind if Gray-sama will take a longer route."
How bold. She kept on surprising him. Where is the shy girl a few hours ago? And the girl who wanted to get away from the crowd at the retreat? Who cares? He doesn’t even think it as a bad thing, instead he was craving for more.
"Sounds like a deal." Soon after, Gray pulled her gently so they can cross the road and guide her where he parked his car.
As they were walking away from the bar, their friends were watching them crossing the road with a full smile on their faces.
"It looks like Gray have a date already in our wedding babe." Natsu winked at Lucy and she giggled.
"Do you think Gray will ask her? They are looking so good together." Lucy worriedly asked his fiancé. "I can't believe I didn't think of setting them up!"
"Maybe we can stop annoying him to go on a blind dates Luce. He already found someone he likes."
"You are right…"
"I'll date Juvia if he didn’t ask her." Loke received a smack on his head from Erza. "Aww!", He was rubbing his hair because the pain might disappear, but Erza really gave him a strong one.
"Find someone else. Juvia is a sweet girl and doesn't deserve to be a plaything. Plus, I know Gray will not do that to her." Erza confidently told it to her friends.
Then they left the bar with all smiles on their faces.
>>><<<
"The retreat was amazing. I can’t believe you managed to do that by yourself.", Gray praised Juvia for doing a great job organizing a big event.
Juvia blushed, didn’t expect a sudden compliment from Gray. "Juvia had some help Gray-sama. She didn’t do it alone.", she responded shyly.
"I heard a different case from Lucy though." Gray told her while focusing on the road.
Juvia frowned in confusion. "What did Lucy-san say?". She slightly tilted her head looking at Gray while waiting for his answer.
Gray looked at her and can’t help but adore her beautiful azure eyes that were staring at him like a puppy. But he had to focus with his driving, so he immediately turned his attention back on the road.
He cleared his throat and began thinking about what to say. "Uhm well… Lucy said that you did all the work, and you didn’t even complain about your co-workers who were supposed to do the job with you. That's what she said."
She slowly nodded then sweetly smiled at him. "Juvia was still grateful… because they appreciate what she did, they recognized her talent, and Juvia was just so happy. And about the people who didn’t do their job are now being punished with a pack of paper works for the whole month. So, it is a win-win for Juvia.", she giggled.
Gray chuckled, liking her honesty and enthusiasm. This girl is really interesting, one of a kind, and definitely worth it.
Gray really did take a longer route, and Juvia didn’t complain about it, but sadly, even though they still don't want to leave each other's side. They had to say their goodbyes because they already reached their destination. Juvia's apartment.
The gloominess of her eyes was shown, but she still managed to give Gray her sweetest smile. "Thank you for giving Juvia a ride home, Gray-sama."
"The least I can do.", he simply said.
"Juvia had fun"
Gray nodded, "Me too."
They were staring at each other, no one was saying some words, and didn’t know what was running inside each other's minds. The silence stopped when Juvia deeply exhales, bit her lower lip, smiled at Gray for the last time then she opened the car door and got out from the car.
But before she closed it, Gray called her name and stepped out from his car. Juvia shut the passenger door while watching Gray walking his way to the other side of the car where she was standing. Their eyes were locked at the each other until Gray was already standing in front of her.
"Gray-sa ---"
He had to do it. He wanted to do it. Juvia's words was cut short because her lips were now being sealed by Gray's lips. She was surprised, but immediately melted by his gentle kiss. He really knows how to make a woman surrender, but it was different for Juvia.
He was kissing her with respect. Soft. Delicate. Slow. Passionate.
No one wanted to let go and didn’t care about the few people walking at the side of road. However, they needed air and Gray was the first one to pull away, but their foreheads were resting against each other.
Their breathing was sync and they stayed like that for a few seconds before standing straight and locking their eyes at each other, but her hand was still being held by him.
"Go out with me." Gray whispered, but still loud enough for Juvia to hear.
Juvia's eye widen, wasn't expecting to hear those words from him, "G-Gray-sama…"
He smiled. Even though the dark was surrounding them he can still the red tint from Juvia's cheeks. "You don’t need to answer me right away. I'm sorry for surprising you, but I, uhm… I meant that." Cleared his throat. He was starting to sweat. He was nervous, and Juvia was the only woman who made him feel that way. He was only good at hiding it.
Juvia suddenly giggled. His brows drawn together while confusingly staring at the beautiful woman in front of him.
"You are so cute Gray-sama." Juvia actually noticed his cold sweat, his worry, and hesitation, and it was so pleasing for her eyes. With her sudden compliment, it was Gray's turn to feel flustered. He scratched the back of his head, landed his eyes at Juvia who was looking lovely with her giggling then his lips curved into a shy smile.
"Yes."
Gray's smile disappeared, confusingly looking at Juvia, and thinking if he heard her right. "What did you say?"
Juvia bit her lower lip then exhaled deeply. "Juvia said yes with what Gray-sama said earlier. She will go out with you."
Gray's face brightened like a kid who received a lollipop, but in a manly way (if that makes sense).
"You can't turn back now. I'm warning you." he said in a flirty tone.
Juvia nodded, "Juvia is serious and has no plan of turning back."
"That also means, you'll be my date at Natsu and Lucy's wedding."
She chuckled, "Juvia loves that."
He was very satisfied with her answer and smiled even more. That moment, he was so happy and can’t wait to see the future that awaits for him and with the "sexy-as hell-shy girl" in front of him.

Molly and Arthur's relationship with their children and significant others. Ik Molly didn't like fluer at first and I get the feeling she's one of THOSE mother-in law's even though I love her to deatg
Bill&Fleur:
Bill is the oldest
The younger four saw him almost as another parent, being so much older and often having been asked to babysit them
So both Molly and Arthur have a soft spot for him
They remember the two years that was just the three of them
As we know Bill started to rebel once he was out of school and went to Egypt
He made a strong stance on it when he returned to England during the war and even after
Okay, so Fleur and Molly did have a strain relationship, but after Bill was attacked, a respect was formed between Fleur and Molly
You can’t see someone you love and care for almost die and not bond
Arthur has never had a problem with Fleur and recognizes that she is a seriously gifted witch
And Fleur has a great relationship with him
Molly and Fleur get along a lot better once Victoire is born
And Molly and Arthur help them get the hang of parenting their rebellious children when they’re older
They have a LOT of experience in that field
Charlie:
Charlie is a mama’s boy
He gets along well with his parents, but living so far away is hard on all of them
I like to think that Charlie starts making sure to come home at least every other summer and every Christmas to stay with Molly and Arthur and spend the summer with all of his nieces and nephews
He spends a lot of time writing letters to home
When Molly and Arthur’s health start to fail he moves home permanently to take care of them
He’s a good son to them, but the distance is what hurts their relationship
Percy&Audrey:
Percy is a definite mama’s boy
More so than Charlie
If he would’ve had to see Molly at the ministry instead of Arthur he would’ve returned home a lot sooner
His relationship with the family as a whole is very difficult after the war, but between Molly, Charlie, and George everyone else accepts him eventually (except Bill, big thoughts on that)
Audrey is the perfect daughter in-law
Molly adored her the second she met her and Arthur knew her from the ministry before she and Percy start dating
She knits with Molly while pregnant with her daughters
She is also Muggleborn, so she indulges Arthur’s curiosity a lot
They remind her of her own parents and the simple life she had before she went to Hogwarts
All in all, Audrey is the reason Percy fits in with his family so well after the war
George&Angelina:
It’s hard after the war
George eventually moves out of the Burrow and back to the flat over the shop
He puts a show on for a long time, but then he and Angelina reconnect
It’s not a “she fixed him” story, it’s a “we were both hurting and misery loves company, but now we feel better” story
She brings George back to them and they are forever grateful to Angelina
George becomes part of the family again and he becomes really close to Arthur
But he only talks about Fred to Molly, and she starts sharing stories about her own brothers
Angelina and George have the first family wedding after the war and they make it a very joyous event
It’s exactly three days after Molly and Arthur’s wedding anniversary
Angelina is also a half-blood and answers a lot of Arthur’s questions about Muggle medical equipment and practices
Angelina is Arthur’s favorite of his in-laws
Ron&Hermione:
Ron is Arthur’s son
Out of all their children, Ron is Arthur’s kid, the one that can be depended on to want to spend time with dad ALL the time
He is the kid that gets dragged to the ministry all the time, as he can be expected to behave and not wander off (at least not too far)
But he is also Molly’s kitchen buddy
Pretty much when he was little, he would hide in there when Fred and George hanged up on him, and molly gave him a bit of work
He asks his parents if it would be a good idea to propose, as he values their opinion on the matter
Molly and Arthur love Hermione so they push Ron to propose and make her an official part of the family
Things do fall apart a little after Rose is born and Hermione goes back to work and Ron steps back and becomes a mostly stay-at-home dad
But things are patched up by the time Hugo is born
Harry&Ginny:
The baby girl
Ginny gets away with a lot when she’s little
She grows closer to her parents while in hiding
She sees them age so much during that time and after the war
She writes home every week of her seventh year, mostly to Arthur
Ginny has never been “girly” enough for Molly, but after the war that falls away
They all realize that it’s time to let go of perceptions and to just love one another for who they are
Molly is the only one to go to Ginny’s very first match with the Harpies
She’s benched the whole game, but Molly is so proud of her that it doesn’t matter
So Harry is Molly’s favorite of her in-laws
He can do no wrong and it’s obvious to everyone that she thinks this
He was family long before he asked Ginny to marry him
He did ask permission just because he thought it was the proper thing to do
He got told to go through the brothers
James is their first grandson and that cements Harry as Molly’s favorite
Bonus, relationships with the grandchildren:
Victoire:
She’s the first grandchild
She has a special place in their hearts
She is the first in so many ways and when she runs away to France they are the only ones she writes too
She is the oldest by quite a bit, so she gets to remember a lot of time with just her, Molly, and Arthur
She will always be close with them
James:
The oldest grandson
He reminds them of Bill
He has a trouble streak that breaks when he’s made Head Boy
They see so much potential in him and that ever goes away even as he gets older
He makes them hopeful in a way they hadn’t been in a long time
Freddie:
The second grandson
Despite being named after Fred, he’s a mini George
He holds so much in and then explodes
He gets on well with Molly and Arthur, and his other grandfather Micah
While he’s good with jokes and puns, it’s his facial expressions that really make him funny
He’s also always willing to help out with anything, and enjoys degnoming the garden
Roxanne:
The second granddaughter
She’s beautiful and witty and funny even as a child
She goes to Arthur for cuddles and Molly for sweets
She has a way of getting out of any trouble, even if she is the instigator
She’s a lot like Ginny when she’s younger, one of the boys and never too fussed about anything
She goes to them for comfort
Rose:
Rose is just like Molly
She is a mother hen, she loves to cook, and she loves spending time with Molly
The feeling is very mutual
Rose always finds Arthur first at any family event to give him a big hug
After she loss her Grandma Jane, she clung on tighter to Molly
After she loss her Abeulo Javier, she made sure to always tell Arthur she loved him between visits
She write them at least twice a month at Hogwarts, and she leaves out no details
They were very proud of her becoming Head Girl
Al:
Just like Arthur
They both like to sit at the edges and just watch the chaos
Al goes out of his way to learn about Muggle things so he always has something to talk to Arthur about
When he’s older he gets really interested in the space program and that becomes their thing
Molly loves how close Arthur and Al are
Molly:
Remember that Percy is a mama’s boy, well Molly is named after both of her grandmothers
She adores Molly and Arthur
Her other grandparents were killed in the war, so she only knows them
In the summer holidays, she’ll go over every Sunday morning for tea
It’s her time to spend with them alone, just by herself
She picks up knitting from Molly and really enjoys it
Molly is the one to carry on the family legacy, she has seven kids (six daughters, one son)
Lucy:
She is also close to her grandparents
She is often found tucked beside Arthur at family events
Just like Al, she finds something specific and Muggle to talk to Arthur about
Hers is travel, and they end up talking about trains a lot
When Lucy gets pregnant with her oldest, she goes to Molly with questions
Every Monday she makes sure to visit and usually brings along her children
Dominique:
She doesn’t write her parents, but she writes Molly and Arthur
She feels like she was always pushed off onto them
Between Victoire’s rebellions and Louis’ autism, she was the one pushed onto others
When she gets pregnant at sixteen, she tells Molly and Arthur first because she doesn’t know who else to tell
She always has dinner with them every Wednesday
Hugo:
He reminds them of Fred
He has an endless amount of energy and talks constantly around them
He constantly spews knowledge and always wants people to know what he knows
Because he sees Rose always helping in the kitchen, he helps in the kitchen and learns how to cook from Molly
When his Abeulo Javier dies, it really affects his relationship with Arthur
He’s scared to lose another grandparent and he actively seeks out Arthur at family dinners
When he finally has children, he makes sure to let them know Molly and Arthur and have a real relationship with them
Louis:
He loves the Burrow
He likes to visit when he knows no one else will be there
Molly and Arthur are just happy to have him, they’re not used to quiet though
He makes a portrait of them for their fiftieth wedding anniversary and one of the Burrow for their seventy-fifth anniversary
Louis very much is about presence and not words, so while he doesn’t know much about his grandparents, he knows them as much as he needs to
When Molly and Arthur pass, he gets all the old family photos
Lily:
She’s the baby of the whole family
She will always be the baby in their eyes
She dances before she walks, and it’s while she’s “helping” Molly at the Burrow
Molly tells Harry and Ginny to put her into dance classes and that changes her life forever
Lily always seeks out Arthur at every family dinner, even if it’s just to give him a hug and a kiss
The summer before her seventh year, she goes to the Burrow almost every day
She wants to know everything she can, about them and their life
She keeps a journal of all their stories and after her oldest graduates from Hogwarts, she writes a book of their life
It brings her and Hugo closer and they are the only ones who have signed copies by both Molly and Arthur
Teddy:
He is the oldest, but he had Andromeda until she passed when he was four
He had been living with Harry for about a year by then
He is the reason why Molly goes by ‘nana’ and Arthur goes by ‘grandad’
He is their grandson in every way but blood relation
He makes time every week to spend time with them and writes to them every other week while at Hogwarts
When he’s down, he goes to the Burrow
His children know Molly and Arthur as their grandparents
Send me a Weasley and I’ll give you a fic, a couple of head canons, or my opinion on them in both canon and fanon!

Garcy + possessive hand-holding
Or, fake relationships are fun. Usual canon-divergence, PG-ish, and also on ao3.
No good thing has ever come out of a mission in the Victorian era, Lucy is convinced.
Fine, being a petite woman is not an advantage at any point in history, she is well aware of this issue, but there is just something about the late 1800s in particular that ends in disaster for her. Maybe it’s the particular low point of fashion that era represents – corsets have their purposes, she can admit that and deal, but add in a skirt fitted enough that she can barely move and that there is a problem. She has to be restrained, and she is learning that she is not actually a restrained person, and she-
They are in New York, which is thoroughly unhelpful because there are literally thousands of things that could be about to get derailed, and the usual interplay of personalities means she gets to spend the next few days pretending to be married. This has become normal enough, and what had started as okay let’s just accept that assumption has turned into more of an intentional move. She’s safer this way, and in return she’s still about the only person who can even occasionally make Flynn understand the word no, and-
She wonders, sometimes, if this routine might be messing with his version of a healing process.
They’ve done this enough times under similar enough circumstances – there’s about a hundred year stretch where this works – to have a practiced and coherent cover story. Recent immigrant and his native-born wife whose family wildly disapproves of her life choices. All of that is true enough, though not the implications of it, not the idea that she might’ve been corrupted or-
There is a familiarity in the way her companion’s fingers tighten around hers, the unspoken protectiveness she gets in return for playing this role she does not want. A reminder, as they go on, that he has killed for her honor before and probably will do so again. They are tethers, they are so many things, they are-
“Are you alright?” she asks. They have a distance to clear, and they might as well talk, and she worries, and she-
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“You’ve introduced me as your wife… how many times so far today?”
“Four, maybe?”
“Isn’t that weird for you?”
Flynn glances away and she can almost feel him trying to find a tactful but evasive answer, and she hates how he won’t actually say what he means whenever she brings up the fact that they do have some kind of emotional bond even if it is years from becoming anything a less damaged person would describe as mutually romantic. There is something between them, dammit, there is something between them and-
“It works,” he says after a moment too long.
“I know I’m not whatever your wife was but-“
“That does not make you any less magnificent.”
“I don’t want-“
“I am not an open wound, Lucy. You do not need to worry about-“
“What if I want to worry about you?” she says just a little too quickly and oh god, she had never planned on admitting that but-
“It would make you even more unique than you already are.”
She is sure there are more things unsaid, but she has caused enough distraction as it is and she decides she’ll pick it up later. When they are home, where they belong, when she’s in comfortable clothes again and curled up in that awful thrift-store abomination of an armchair she practically lives in and-
She holds his hand just a little tighter, and the adoring looks she claims are an attempt at making them invisible are actually real, and at the very least no one is going to have questions about her fake marriage.

Chain of Iron Review
Like my Chain of Gold review (which you can find on my post list or here) this is going to be a hot mess of emotions and feelings with very many spoilers. If you’re wondering if you should read this book (a review without spoilers) my thoughts are go fricking read everything by Cassandra Clare and fall in love with me. Yes, I highly recommend everything that woman has touched with a pen. But besides that, let's get into this review.
Characters
James Herondale- first let's start with one of the main characters who was a big part of this novel. To be honest I don’t have much to say about him personally without getting into his relationships with others and the plot points in the book (which I will talk about later), but I guess I will talk about my love for him. I was unsure at first (before Chain of Gold) how I was going to feel about James and if he would be a typical Herondale boy and be very similar to his father or his descendant, Jace. I was worried that he would be too similar to Will and Jace that he would not stand out, but like in Chain of Gold, I was very happy with his individual character traits and personality. While he is like Will and Jace, James is also very different and his own person. He’s a typical heart throb Herondale, while still having this very reserved and responsible side to him that I love so much. His only flaw is something he can’t control, so yeah… strong character.
Cordelia Carstairs- Like last book, I LOVE Cordelia, although this book was harder to read because of what she went through. Multiple times I wanted to just give her a hug and let her cry on my shoulder. I wish she hadn’t had to go through so much trauma in this book, but I know she’ll become a better character because of it. The whole ordeal with being Lilith’s paladin hurt very much, her unrequited (not really) love for James was heartbreaking to see continuously played on (I JUST WANTED THAT DAMN GRACELET OFF), and the parts about her father also hurt. I need to read Chain of Thorns now, just to make sure that Cordelia is alright in the end.
Matthew Fairchild- talking about Matthew makes me sad because I absolutely love him as a character and I just need him to get better. I’m so happy that he opened up to Cordelia in this book, but I need him to start loving himself again. The pain I feel when reading about him trembling and drinking himself to honestly too much (especially since he’s just a fictional character). And that’s really all I want for Matthew, is for him to be okay one day.
Grace Blackthorn- this was very interesting in Chain of Iron because we got a lot of flashback scenes from Grace’s point of view and that made me not hate her as much anymore. I still am very annoyed at her, but I like that I can finally see more of her side and sympathize with her. I’m very interested to see more of her character development, especially individually without all the stuff with James obscuring my image of her.
Lucie Herondale- someone else that I found I loved much more in this book was Lucie. In the last book, from what I can remember, Lucie was a little interesting at parts (I kind of want to say annoying, although that’s a little too harsh of a word), but I loved her in this book. She had much more character development (I thought) and her personality came out more in a less hectic way. Her inner thoughts started to make more sense to me, and I loved learning more about her as not someone who is just James’s sister, or Cordelia’s future parabatai, but as her own person.
Jesse Blackthorn- Another character I loved to see more of although we mostly just saw him through Lucie’s eyes, and I also already loved him even before. He became a much more understanding and developed character in this book and I can’t wait to see more of him now that he’s alive!
Alastair Carstairs- I totally fell in love with him in this book too! Holy shit, all I wanted to do was hug him and tell him that it would all be alright. Because he is an older sibling I think I can relate to him a lot more now, especially with all this baggage that he was keeping and trying to protect Cordelia from. I found the scenes with just him in them (like when he’s thinking about the future while looking out the window in his house after his father dies and thinking about his new baby sibling that will be born) absolutely amazing and captivating. Obviously I used to hate him because of the short stories that he was in the Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy and other extra short stories, but now I need more of him and I’m internally hurting for him.
Thomas Lightwood- Another character I am hurting for and I just need him to be okay. I loved and hated the fact that he felt so hurt for James because of the killer and he wanted to unburden James by catching the killer. I was just so moved but also so angry that he was putting himself in danger that it was a very emotional time reading (like me clutching the book and shouting at Thomas to stop and go back). But I will always love Thomas and can’t wait to see more of him.
Christopher Lightwood- Last but certainly not least, is Christopher, who I am obsessed with. That one POV moment that we had from him was one of my favourites and now I need to hear from him more. I love all of his quirks and his inner thoughts are the most adorable thing but also makes me sad because he has no one but Henry to share them with and who fully understands and appreciates him for who he is. Also I still really find it wild that he’s the son of Cecily and Gabriel, who aren’t science-y people at all and who are both much more sarcastic characters, while Christopher is just so sweet and perfect. (Not saying Cecily and Gabriel aren’t perfect, but still never would have imagined them to have a kid like Christopher, but at the same time I find it so perfect that they did). Also I just love Christopher so much! I know I said that already, but I just can’t get over it. I need more of his inner thoughts and just more of HIM.
Relationships
Now we can finally talk about the characters in terms of their relationships with other characters and since I was just talking about Christopher I need to start with…
Christopher and Grace! — I loved that little moment they shared when they were in Henry’s laboratory and were bonding of the pithos. It was the best moment in the whole book and I keep thinking about it in my head. I know of the family tree from the Clockwork Princess inside cover, it says that Christopher and Grace will get married and have the Lightwood offspring, but I just hadn’t really realized that significance until now. They are so cute together and even though I have expressly said I hated Grace in the past, the way she understood Christopher and the way they could talk together, warmed my heart so much and was the most redeeming part of Grace’s character for me. I just need more moments of Grace and Christopher.
Now to the next most pressing relationship…
The James, Cordelia, Matthew love triangle!
Let's start with Cordelia and James— I love them together. Even with all the annoying shit with James and the bracelet, their relationship shone in this book and I was so happy about it. They are so perfect for each other and all of their moments together I was bursting with joy. Their chemistry, but also their solid foundation for their relationship is so well written that it’s impossible for me not to see them as together. This is their story and I’m in love with it.
Now Cordelia and Matthew— I also love them, but probably not as much. The thing is, I’m just obsessed with Matthew, so while I love the relationship just because I want Matthew to find happiness, I think James and Cordelia are better together. The problem is with Matthew is that he needs to work on himself first before he could ever hope to fully love someone else and share a life with someone else. I’m very happy for the moment though that Matthew has Cordelia at his side and that he even shared his biggest secret with her because I do think that Cordelia has the capacity to help Matthew (maybe even on this trip to Paris) but I also don’t want it to be too much for Cordelia since she already had to deal with similar issues with her dad and I don’t want it to bring up hard memories for her. But either way I just need the next book to see what happens after that VERY emotional cliffhanger. Cassie did me dirty with that one.
James and Grace— Well I hate the fricking bracelet (also side note, I absolutely love that the fandom nicknamed the bracelet, gracelet. I love that so much). But I also see why Grace felt like she had to put it on and why she couldn’t take it off, but it still makes me so mad. Especially the way she still felt she could manipulate James in the end because she had nowhere else to go. I hate that part of her, the part that her mother taught her that it’s okay to manipulate men. But I was also so happy how James went off on her at the end, it was very satisfying until Cordelia ran off, but still very happy that James got to yell at Grace like that.
Lucie and Jesse— another couple I am now fully invested and in love with. This book made me like Lucie more BECAUSE of her development with Jesse. I liked Jesse before, but this book, where we got to see lots of their development as a couple and be completely honest with each other, sealed the deal for me. I can’t wait to read more about Jesse and Lucie in the future because I am so happy for them and so in love with their love, it’s actually kind of ridiculous.
Alastair and Thomas— again, I just fell completely in love with them in this book. The scenes with them locked up together were some of my favorite scenes, but I was beyond sad when Alastair still broke it off with Thomas in the end. I needed one couple to find some sort of happy at the end of this book, but all of them ended badly! I was very mad, but I can’t wait for the next book to see them get together (because they have to get together).
Anna and Ariadne— I just love Anna so much and I want her to be happy, but in this book I also felt for Ariadne too. At first I didn’t like her because of the fact that she broke Anna’s heart, but now seeing her try so hard to make up with her… it just makes my heart break for the both of them. Also the only parts in this book that had these two in it, were scenes about their relationship, which is why I didn’t have anything to say about their individual personalities, but I would like to add that Anna is definitely one of my favourite Lightwoods and one of the best minor characters in the Shadowhunter universe.
Lucie and Cordelia— for these two I wish that we had more scenes of them as friends, but I think one of the most powerful parts of this book that made it so sad, was the fact that Cordelia and Lucie didn’t talk. The way the two girls were by themselves with their problems definitely was a huge factor of why everything went bad, and I’m very certain that if Lucie and Cordelia had talked more, things would have ended differently. So I see and understand why they weren’t able to be the parabatai pals that I wanted them to be, but I still am waiting desperately for more scenes of the two of them just being friends. Another reason I cannot wait for the last book of the series.
Grace and Jesse— because of all the flashback scenes of Grace, I was able to appreciate her relationship with her brother more. The bond that they have between brother and sister is so strong and beautiful that it’s another thing that redeems Grace as a character, and makes me sympathize a lot more with her.
The Merry Thieves— just want to say that I love them so much. I will always love them and I just need more scenes of the group of them plus Lucie, Anna, and Cordelia. That is all.
Plot
For plot details in this book, I just have a couple things to talk about, the first being: WHERE THE FUCK WAS THE REAL MAGNUS! Honestly, I know where he was, but I felt so betrayed when Lilith revealed herself to be a pretend Magnus. Every Shadowhunter book has Magnus helping to save the day, and my theory is that the reason everything went so shitty was because Magnus wasn’t there. Jem and Magnus are always needed for these Shadowhunter children who just keep getting caught up into shitty situations. He better help more in the next book (which I already know he will, since at the end of Chain of Iron he was there with Will). On that note, I also thought it was clever of Cassie to have Will and Tessa gone for the majority of the book, because I feel like if they had been there, shit wouldn’t have gotten that bad, both concerning Belial and the kids’ love lives. It wouldn’t have been believable if they had been there but all the events happened in the same way, because I’m pretty sure Will or Tessa would have given more advice to James and Lucie.
Secondly, that was some crazy business with Belial and Lilith, and also I’m so excited that Lilith is back. I think she’s such an interesting villain being Adam’s first wife and all. But also I don’t like who she’s a manipulative bitch, but I think that’s part of her charm.
Next, the gracelet. I hate it. Period. Glad it’s off.
Next plot point— all the stuff with Malcolm! Oh my goodness that was so interesting to see how Malcolm’s villain origin story started. I can’t actually believe that it was Grace that told Malcolm straight up about Annabel (I can actually believe it, I just think it ironic that she’s also a Blackthorn, and really only Blackthorns seem to have messed up Malcolm’s life). I’m very interested to see more of what he does with Jesse and Lucie now that Jesse is alive and Malcolm knows more about Lucie’s powers.
Lastly, I wanted to touch on the extra short story from the first editions of Chain of Iron, with Magnus and Jem. I think that it was an important scene concerning the future Eldest Curses novel, The Black Volume of the Dead, and maybe even the Wicked Powers series. It just made me even more excited for the future Shadowhunters books and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us moving forward!
And that’s all I have to talk about. Thank you if you read to the end and were able to sift through my thoughts. This is totally unedited, so sorry for stupid mistakes and such.
Until next time!

Previous Chapter: Chapter 16
Next Chapter: Chapter 18
Lucie spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden trying to figure out how to do magic. It didn’t help that she had no idea what she was doing or how magic worked and instead she was just trying some methods she remembered from her favorite books. So far, nothing happened. After some time, Jessamine came outside to watch.
‘What are you doing?’ she asked.
‘Trying to do magic,’ Lucie answered, a little frustrated with her lack of progress. ‘You don’t happen to have any clue how that works?’
Jessamine looked shocked. ‘About magic? Of course not, why would you think such a thing. I’m a good Christian.’
Lucie guessed she should have suspected such a thing. ‘Jess, in all the time that you’ve been here, was I the only one who could see you?’
Jessamine thought for a while.
‘Actually, no,’ she said. ‘There was someone else, years ago. The sister of Mr. Gray. She travelled to the manor shortly after my death, to express her condolences to my family, and she could see me and spoke to me.’
Mr. Gray’s sister… Her mother couldn’t see ghosts, but perhaps she was somehow distantly related to his woman and to Jessamine’s old suitor through her mother. Perhaps that power did travel in families.
‘And was there anything else she could do?’ Lucie asked.
‘I don’t know,’ Jessamine said. ‘Mr. Gray always thought his sister was odd, occupied with things not suitable for a young lady. She rarely came to balls, even if she was old enough to be out and looking for suitors. But he thought discussing what his sister was up to would be inappropriate for the proper ladies present, such as myself.’
‘She must have been a witch too then,’ Lucie speculated.
Jessamine looked horrified. ‘Witches don’t really exist, do they? Mr. Gray’s sister was certainly odd, everyone knew that, but I never thought she could be a witch.’
‘Jess, you’re literally a ghost. And I can see you and speak with you, just like Mr. Gray’s sister did. When I’m near you can pick up hair brushes, which you normally can’t.’
‘All this time, you’ve been bewitching me?’ Jessamine asked, her voice small.
‘No, not like that,’ Lucie said. ‘That wasn’t something I did intentionally, and I never forced you into anything. Although I’m thinking maybe I could. Jess, my friend is in danger and I need to save him. Are you willing to help me?’
Jessamine looked reluctant. ‘What will you do to me?’
‘Just test a few things, figure out what I can do,’ Lucie said. ‘I’ve always made you stronger, I have no idea what you could do with my help.’
She looked down, resigned. ‘Alright, Lucie. I will see what I can do. What is it that you ask of me?’
Lucie looked around, and noticed a stick lying on the ground.
‘Can you pick that up?’ she asked, pointing.
Jessamine looked confused, but bent down and picked up the stick, holding it in her hands. Usually, ghosts could pick up things they cared for around her. In Jessamine’s case, hairbrushes and dolls. Lucie didn’t think Jessamine cared much for sticks.
‘That looks odd,’ Thomas, who was sitting in a garden chair next to Alastair, commented. ‘Like you just made the stick float.’
‘Yes,’ Lucie said. ‘But that’s not exactly helpful, is it? Jessamine, can you touch Thomas? Usually you’d pass through him.’
Jessamine dropped the stick and rubbed her hand even if there was no dirt remaining on her ghostly form. She walked over to Thomas, who'd stood up out of his chair, and shook his hand, curtsying politely. Thomas yelped, which indicated that he could feel her. Interesting.
‘Do gentlemen not kiss a lady’s hand anymore?’ Jessamine asked.
Thomas turned red, and lifted his hand up, taking Jessamine’s hand with him, and kissed her. To Lucie, this looked relatively normal, but Thomas couldn’t see Jessamine. This had to be awkward. Jessamine let go of Thomas’ hand.
‘It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir,’ Jessamine said.
Lucie repeated Jessamine’s words to Thomas.
‘Ah, it is a pleasure to meet you too, miss,’ Thomas said, looking over her head instead of at her.
Lucie sometimes wondered if Thomas got neck cramps from having to look down whenever he was talking to other people.
Jessamine let go of Thomas’ hand. ‘In my day, the gentlemen certainly had better manners,’ she snorted.
Lucie started laughing. ‘Jessamine is not impressed by your manners, Tom,’ she said.
Thomas turned an even deeper red. ‘I am terribly sorry, miss, that my manners are not up to your standard. Wait, is she still there?’
Jessamine scoffed. ‘I’ll never understand the gentlemen of this century. If you can call them that. People are so contradictory. I always felt like public displays of affection are frowned upon nowadays, especially between gentlemen, even if they are very close friends. But your two gentlemen seem to be very affectionate and improper with each other.’
Lucie started laughing. She suspected Jessamine had seen Alastair and Thomas kiss each other the other day, she’d seemed very shocked by it, but Lucie didn’t realize she’d interpreted them as having a very intimate friendship. Some decades before Jessamine lived, such a thing had been more normalized though, known as the romantic friendship. Although Lucie suspected at least some of those “romantic friendships” were really concealed gay relationships. ‘Oh no, that is not considered normal in this day, but Alastair and Thomas are not simply close friends.’
Jessamine looked absolutely horrified and Lucie decided to change the subject. She did not feel like discussing sexuality with a ghost from the Victorian era, she didn’t think that conversation would end without anyone getting hurt or offended.
‘What did she say?’ Thomas asked.
‘Jess is very confused about the gentlemen of this day. Usually they are not so affectionate towards each other as you are with Alastair,’ Lucie summarized.
‘I,’ Alastair announced, ‘am very glad to live in this day and age and not whatever century this lady must have been from.’
Lucie could imagine, the modern day might still be a mess but she would certainly prefer it over being a 19thcentury lady. She imagined she would have married young, a gentleman she’d thought she was fond of, but didn’t really feel romantic attraction to, and then she’d be trapped. That wouldn’t happen to her main character Eloise though. Eloise and Mabel would find a way, although of course writing a story about a sapphic couple in the 19th century had its limitations in their happy ending.
‘So Jess can touch objects and people who don’t see her,’ Lucie continued. ‘Anyone has any other ideas?’
‘Could you make her visible to us?’ Alastair asked.
‘Jess, show yourself,’ Lucie said.
Jessamine frowned. ‘I don’t know how to do that.’
Nothing happened, at least not that Lucie could tell.
‘She looks a lot like I pictured her,’ Thomas said.
‘I thought her hair would be darker,’ Alastair commented. ‘I don’t think bleach for hair existed back then, and I’m pretty sure no one has hair that’s naturally this light.’
‘I think it depends on where you’re from,’ Thomas said. ‘Light blonde hair is more common in Northern Europe.’
Cordelia snorted. ‘Just because you used to bleach your hair, does not mean everyone who is blonde does the same.’
Thomas frowned. ‘You bleached your hair?’
‘I dyed it back to black, and it’s mostly grown out now,’ Alastair said. ‘It was too much effort to maintain, I had to touch up the roots every four weeks. It looked good though.’
‘It did not look good,’ Cordelia commented. ‘He looked like a turnip.’
Lucie’s eyes went wide. It worked. They were seeing Jessamine. Lucie was feeling a little faint, but did not let it distract her.
‘Come on, pay attention. You’re looking at a ghost for the first time in your life, isn’t that more interesting than Alastair’s hair?’ Lucie shouted.
‘Almost,’ Thomas said. ‘Have you seen Alastair’s hair?’
Alastair rolled his eyes. ‘Let’s pay attention to the ghost. Alright, blonde people are real. And her dress is very nice, I always liked the bustle style.’
‘You can see me?’ Jessamine’s smile lit up. ‘Oh this wonderful. It is such a long time since a gentleman has been able to see me. And it is a lovely dress, I had it made when I visited Paris with my mama.’
She pronounced Paris the way the French did. Lucie knew Jessamine loved to talk about her gowns, although she wasn’t fond of modern clothes. She wore a green day dress with a bustle, something Lucie imagined was a bit unpractical. So many layers. Not to mention the corset.
Alastair looked up thoughtfully. ‘How long do you imagine she’ll stay visible, Lucie?’ he asked. ‘What about if you step away from here? Go inside?’
Lucie took several steps away from Jessamine, taking hold of the door to open it.
‘She’s gone,’ Thomas said.
Lucie turned around and walked to Jessamine. ‘What about now?’ she asked.
‘Nothing,’ Cordelia said. ‘I think once she disappears, you need to ask her to become visible again.’
‘Show yourself,’ Lucie repeated.
‘There she is,’ Alastair said. ‘She looks surprisingly human. I always thought ghosts would be more transparent like in movies.’
‘If they were, do you think I would have mistaken ghosts for living people?’ Lucie asked. ‘If you look carefully, ghosts have a bit of a shimmer but beyond that they look just like people.’
‘Living people, that is,’ Jessamine said. ‘I consider myself a person still, thank you very much.’
‘Of course you are a person,’ Thomas confirmed, indicating that he could hear as well as see her. ‘It is odd to think you’ve been here for such a long time, and always invisible.’
‘It has been very difficult,’ Jessamine said. ‘For a long time, no one could see me until Lucie came here. And modern times are so confusing. Why do ladies wear clothes that reveal their ankles at all times? Worse, the knees? In my day, the occasional ankle slip was to be expected, of course, but visibility of the calves and knees was unheard of. Have people lost all sense of propriety?’
‘Because it’s more practical to not wear floor length dresses all the time,’ Lucie said. ‘Also, no one cares about ankles nowadays. Or knees.’
Lucie did like wearing dresses and skirts, but didn’t like them too long. She was short and therefore the hem always dragged over the ground, which meant she either tripped over the skirt or got it dirty when she wore it outside.
‘But it’s so improper,’ Jessamine insisted, horrified. ‘How could people just stop caring about such things? If this continues, it will not be long until humans go out with no clothes at all and society will fall into chaos.’
‘Now that is generally frowned upon,’ Alastair said. ‘I do not expect that to happen anytime soon.’
‘It would be uncomfortable,’ Cordelia added. ‘And also very cold. The point of clothes is to stay warm.’
‘Does anyone have an idea on how to open a gateway to the land in between?’ Lucie asked. ‘Because that is different from what I can ask of ghosts.’
Cordelia frowned. ‘Maybe you could ask Jessamine.’
‘Jess, can you open a gateway to the land in between for me?’ Lucie asked.
Jessamine frowned. ‘I’m sorry, I do not understand what you ask of me.’
That wasn’t it, then. Lucie guessed opening the gateway was something she’d have to do herself. Making Jessamine visible, that was also something she did, she commanded it and Jessamine could not do it without her. Then perhaps it was about commanding.
‘Or you could ask for a gateway,’ Thomas suggested.
‘Like, open sesame?’ Lucie asked.
‘Be specific,’ Alastair added. ‘What is it that you want to happen? Perhaps Thomas is right, perhaps all you have to do is ask.’
Lucie tried to remember what Grace said, that her magic was dark magic. Perhaps she needed to ask the darkness, or shadows, or something like it? Grace had hinted at this too. Careful what you wish, you just might get it.
‘Darkness, open a gateway to the land in between that is only open to myself, Thomas Lightwood, and Alastair and Cordelia Carstairs,’ Lucie said, remembering to be detailed. Perhaps that was what Grace had warned her about, that what she asked for would happen but not the way she’d intended. ‘A gateway that will not close until all four of us made it back safely to our world.’
It didn’t look like a gateway exactly. There was just a hint of shadow, and when it touched Lucie her friends disappeared. There were no ruins here, the change was subtle beyond her friends being gone. The air was just a touch darker, the breeze a little colder. Some of the color had faded, the grass was a bit duller. There was a fog hovering above the ground. The house was still there, but from here she should be able to see her father’s car and that was gone.
Cordelia, Thomas and Alastair appeared beside her, Cordelia with cortana in hand.
‘I don’t see any ruins,’ Thomas commented.
‘I think the land in between is layered over our land,’ Lucie said. ‘So perhaps to find those ruins, I need to open a portal around where the ruins are. Or I guess we could walk there, but then we’d leave a portal open here and we’d have to walk all the way back once we find it in this world.’
‘I imagine you could open another portal,’ Alastair said. ‘But finding the place the ruins should be in our world and then opening a portal is likely safer. Come, we should get back. This place doesn’t feel right.’
Alastair had a point. Lucie looked around to the way back. In their own world, the gateway looked like a shadow. Here it was a ray of light in an otherwise dark and gloomy environment. She watched her friends step into the light and disappear and then Lucie followed.
The four of them were back in the normal world, her parents both in the garden, concerned. The gate of darkness disappeared behind her. Lucie had asked it not to close until all of them were back, she guessed on its own it didn’t stay open for long and would close if she didn’t stop it. She made a mental note of that, she didn’t want to have to open another portal while they were being attacked by something. The portal closing behind her while all four of them were back was a good way to make sure nothing else came through.
She was feeling a bit more faint than before, light headed. She should have expected using magic would come at a price, but perhaps it was like exercise and she could improve her magic stamina.
‘Where did you just come from?’ Tessa asked.
Lucie looked around for help, but figured since this was her power she was to explain it. She started with Grace visiting again, with her telling her that she had more power than she knew and that she could open a gate.
‘I figured out how to do it,’ Lucie concluded. ‘So we can go into the woods and find Grace’ skin.’
‘Are you sure you don’t want us to come along?’ Will asked.
Lucie considered it, but it was a long time since her father had fought anything and her mother had barely any experience. It wouldn’t be safer with them there. Cordelia had a sword, Lucie was the only one who could open the gateway, and Grace seemed under the impression that it was also necessary for Alastair to come, that his memory would be essential. At least one person with the sight would also be useful.
‘I think it’s better if you didn’t,’ Lucie said. ‘But there’s something else you could do in the meantime. According to Cordelia and Alastair, their father has lots of notebooks from their ancestors, and one must have described a witch similar to me. Perhaps you could call Elias, or uncle Jem, and ask for them.’
Will frowned. ‘Do you think Elias would help us now? He was so opposed to Cordelia coming here with us before.’
Cordelia hadn’t been allowed to come at first, but then her mother had moved out and taken her children with her and her father couldn’t stop her anymore. Sona had decided it would be good for both her children to have some time away and had encouraged them to go. Lucie agreed it was unlikely Elias would be any help on his own accord. She couldn’t say she understood him or his relationship with his children well, all she knew was the damage it had done to Alastair and Cordelia.
‘Father does listen to Jem at times,’ Alastair said stiffly. ‘I think perhaps he could reason with him.’
‘I’ve been meaning to call Jem anyway,’ Will said. ‘If you do not return before dinner, we will come looking for you.’
‘I could leave the gate open for you,’ Lucie said. ‘But we cannot be sure about the time. It doesn’t run the same way, we could spend only a couple of hours there and we’d be missing for a whole day. We cannot keep track of time in there.’
‘Dinnertime,’ Will repeated. ‘I won’t blame you if you’re not back, but we will come looking.’
‘Perhaps we should go tomorrow,’ Alastair suggested and Lucie wondered if maybe after this morning, he did not feel up for it and needed rest. ‘I think it is unlikely we will finish before that time, and if we go tomorrow early in the morning, it is far more likely we can finish before dinnertime.’
Lucie had to admit his line of reasoning had merit, even if she was impatient to get out there. Besides, that gave her time to practice. Cordelia returned to her practice with cortana, whereas Lucie tried asking the darkness for other favors. She practiced opening and closing gate. The gateways all worked and did what she asked of them, but it was tiring though. After four more gates Lucie collapsed onto a garden chair and took to watching Cordelia practice, too tired to get up. Perhaps Alastair had a point in postponing going for the skin, and she imagined even if he was feeling better now that he was exhausted after this morning. She’d had a break down on a rare occasion, autism and stubbornness didn’t always go well together, but never as bad as Alastair had. She knew how exhausting it could be.
Cordelia’s stamina had to be a lot better than Lucie’s, because she kept going for a long time and didn’t seem to get tired. She certainly had a weak spot for girls with swords, and Lucie made a note to use that in one of her novels. Cordelia had tied back her dark red hair in a high ponytail, and was wearing a wide shirt tucked into a pair of jean shorts, something a bit more practical than Lucie’s yellow jumpsuit. Well, it was comfortable to walk around in, but a struggle to go to the bathroom. Cordelia had begun to break a sweat, a few drips on her forehead, but that didn’t stop her. Perhaps later she’d want to go swimming to cool down. Thinking of water, Lucie realized she hadn’t drunk anything in a while. And considering Cordelia had been training for some time, she had to be dehydrated.
‘Do you want something to drink?’ Lucie asked.
‘I could use a glass of water,’ Cordelia said. ‘I always forget to drink when I’m training.’
Fortunately, Lucie was there to make sure Cordelia drank enough water. She tended to forget herself too, especially when she was busy writing. Sometimes she’d complain of a headache, only to realize she hadn’t drunk anything since breakfast.
She went inside to find Alastair and Thomas were about to leave, both carrying a bag.
‘Where are you going?’ Lucie asked.
‘Just to the lake,’ Thomas said. ‘We won’t go too far into the lake, but it’s getting too warm pretty much everywhere. Maybe you and Cordelia can join us later when you’re done training.’
‘I’ll ask Cordelia,’ Lucie promised. ‘Have fun, in the meantime.’
She returned outside with two glasses of water, putting one on the table.
‘The boys have gone swimming,’ Lucie said. ‘Thomas said we were welcome to join once we’re done.’
‘Sure,’ Cordelia said. ‘Just let me finish.’
Cordelia went through a few more repeats of her training, and then transformed cortana back into its necklace form.
‘I get tired a lot sooner than you,’ Lucie admitted.
‘I can’t do magic,’ Cordelia said. ‘I have no idea how exhausting opening or closing a gateway is. I imagine it is a lot more work than simply swinging a sword.’
Lucie guessed perhaps that was true, magic ought to have some limitations. If not, then how could Cordelia’s ancestor have defeated the witch from Grace’ story? ‘I’m curious what else I can do. Grace said something about controlling the dead and making them fight, but that seems a bit unethical. Jessamine isn’t a fighter, and I’d never make her fight something on my behalf.’
‘It depends on the situation, I guess,’ Cordelia said. ‘We don’t know what it takes to stop Tatiana and save Thomas.’
‘No, but I do need to draw moral lines for myself,’ Lucie said. ‘I feel bad for that witch from the story, and I don’t want to end up like her. I don’t want us to become enemies.’
Cordelia took her hand. ‘I’ll never become your enemy, Lu.’
‘Then I guess I’ll have to stay on the safe side of that ethical line. I know how easy it can be, to have the end justify the means, but that’s something I’d rather save for my stories.’

Okay, so I have a chenford fic idea that I just do NOT have the time to write. Seriously, I work full-time at a hospital doing twelve-hour shifts and I have soooooooo many WIPs that I’m working on that it’ll be a long time before I actually get to writing a fic about this prompt. But... I really want to read a fic about this prompt, so, I’m posting it out here for as many people to use as many times as they want. I only ask two things should anyone choose to write this;
1. Credit the fic idea to me, this was something I actually had to think about, and I personally think it’s a pretty great idea.
2. Tag me in the fic or message me with a link when it’s been posted @anotheronechicagobog is my tumblr handle but chantalis is my AO3 and Wattpad handle, so that I can read it and then comment thanks, compliments, and emojis.
So remember when Rachel was still dating Tim (I can’t remeber if they broke up or not) and both she and Lucy had been invited to the wedding of their old college friend who had slept with Lucy’s boyfriend? Well, what if because of COVID they had to cancel their wedding and were re-planning it (either for in the future or within health guidelines) and they take this opportunity to ask Lucy to attend again. The reason they’re so insistant isn’t because they want her there or even like her, really, it’s because their famillies despise their relationship because of how it started, and if Lucy attended it would be like getting the stamp of approval.
Now, imagine after Lucy caught them cheating, Lucy and douchebag break up, and he’s dating backstabber for less than a week when both of their famillies find out (not from Lucy, she’s too nice for that, she’d never throw them under the bus even though she wronged her) that their new, budding romance started from cheating. And on Lucy of all people, who both of their famillies really loved (becasue how could you not? I mean come on). So basically, both douchebag’s and backstabber’s famillies have been giving them shit about their relationship for years, like the ENTIRE time they’ve been together, no one has ever approved, and they want to get married and spend their lives together but their relatives will. Not. Let. Anything. Go.
So they ask Lucy to come, because if the person they wronged approves, how can their famillies argue anymore? They’d invited her the first time kinda offhandedly, a hail Mary of sorts, this time they do it more on purpose and when she replies ‘no’ again or takes a long time to respond, they show up at the station to try to talk her into it (even if that means asking her to be a bridesmaid).
Now, even when she was dating douchebag, she knew that she never wanted to spend forever with him. She’ll say she was just with him for the rent but she really did love him, in a we’re-in-our-twenties-and-living-our-lives-on-our-terms kinda way. And him cheating on her with her bff (backstabber) really sucked. It really hurt for a long time, but she feels bad about the situation they’re in, and actually considers their offer.
Tim, on the other hand, hears a man he doesn’t recognize ask for Lucy by name and immediately marches over very not happy (this happened once before and he’ll be damned if it goes the same as last time) and just generally scares the crap out of him.
In the end, Lucy agrees to go to the wedding out of guilt (as bridesmaid or guest, dealer’s choice), and brings Tim along because he does NOT like her ex and is being overprotective (was mistaken by the happy couple as her bf? goes to keep her company? wants to keep her well-stocked on food and try to minimize her stress? etc.) basically, he ends up going with her (which if they’re having the wedding during COVID would suck because you’re basically cutting out two extra people you want there for people you don’t want there just for the sake of your family who hates you/your SO) and chenford happens in some form (realize feelings but don’t do anything, get together, whatever) and they have a decent time at the happy couple’s expense (also, you can decide if their marriage is immediately a train wreck or not, and whwther or not Lucy being there actually changes anyone’s minds).
(I hope that I didn’t make the prompt too specific)
Happy writing!!!!!

Quick edit: I do intend to write this at some point, but I think that it's too good an idea to sit in and that some other fic writers could do it really, really well.
