Doctober day 28:
[■▪︎ Metallic ▪︎■]
The stainless steel structure of the DeLorean was an advantage for the Flux dispersal.
Strange how that's one of the only things he remembered. But even that memory was fading quickly.
Maybe whatever that memory meant could explain the metallic taste in his mouth.
He could think of much else when he lifted his head from the steering wheel. Most of this thoughts were drowned out by mind-numbing headache.
Marty couldn't barely peel his hands from the hot plastic. He could shake the feeling he had forgotten something...
*******************************************************
THIS IS VERY HEAVILY INSPIRED BY THE FIC "What I Left Behind" BY @fiddlstyx !!!! Check it out I definitely recommend it!!!

Dani, sightseeing in Gotham, thinks that perhaps Robin needs a personal Villain.
The others clearly suck at their jobs, and she's already hated by the government. Plus, there's a bunch of dead goons that would gladly help set up training exercises for Robin if she asked!
Vlad and Dan are always telling her to make friends in her own age group anyways.
So she goes and starts trouble when Robin is on patrol, and adamantly refuses to play with any other hero.
Red Hood arrives? She just stops, stares at him in disgust, and disappears.
Nightwing? She waves at him half heartedly and asks when Robin can come out.
Red Robin? Loves planning with him, isn't entirely convinced he's not actually a villain.
Spoiler? Best costume. But also the best at hunting Dani? 0/10. Dani flees on sight.
BlackBat? Girlboss. 10/10. Likes to learn some cool ninja moves from her to practice on Robin.
Batman? Adult. Smells like money. Gross. She makes it a point to stare at him with all the disgust and hatred she can before going invisible and stealing the candy from his belt.
Signal? Creeps her out. Always knows where she is. She does make sure to give him a wave sometimes. He seems pretty cheered up when she does that.
Robin? Time to play time to play time to play. Intense weird plots that serve no real purpose, mazes that always shift, puzzles she put together with Red Robin, holding Robin's other friend Superboy hostage for a really cool battle across the rooftops (Superboy is also like, kinda cool? He prefers to hang out normally, though; although he does agree that Robin needs this level of entertainment for enrichment purposes).
She thinks Robin is having as much fun as her, honestly.
(Damian is, and the rest of the Bats and Supers think it's adorable)

Really fucked up that, when they’re young, Patrick and Art are SO tactile with each other, so comfortable sharing the same space. Art lets Patrick touch him and move him and physically overwhelm him and easily acquiesces to it, if not outright enjoys it.
Then in the present, they’ve been so far out of each other’s orbit for so long, held such animosity that when they have their moment alone in the sauna, Art physically recoils from Patrick’s close proximity! It’s so painful to watch because even as Patrick’s goading him, it’s so obvious he wants to be able to get back into Art’s space. But Art has erected all these walls around himself, he refuses to give Patrick an inch or even admit to missing how close they used to be!
AND THEN we see Art and Tashi later and he wants her to hold him, to be gentle with him, and just TOUCH him. Like, he does miss that kind of close physical contact! He either doesn’t know how to ask for it or is uncomfortable being that openly vulnerable. Worth noting that he pretty much always defers to Tashi in regard to initiating physical intimacy (with their first kiss, though he does state his desire, SHE has to be the one to make the first move). And it seems pretty obvious that Tashi herself isn’t comfortable providing that intimacy, whereas Patrick actively seeks to provide it (the hug/forehead kiss after their win together in the early years, dragging the stool closer to him).
Art has tried very hard to act like he doesn’t need physical affection and even though his discipline and devotion to Tashi has made him a stronger tennis player, it’s made him a hollow person, which, in turn, has kept him from becoming a GREAT tennis player.
All of this, of course, is why the ending hits so damn hard.

So I've been thinking lately about how Mithrun is Kabru's dark mirror (more on that another time- it needs its own post), and I thought it interesting that one of their parallels is that they were both cared for by Milsiril, but in opposite directions. She took Kabru in as her foster after he was orphaned and tried to convince him not to become an adventurer. On the flip side, she helped rehabilitate Mithrun specifically so that he could rejoin the Canaries.
And I kept wondering: why?
For Kabru, obviously she loves him a whole lot- despite any other shortcomings in their relationship, I do believe that.
Tumblr media
So I get why she tries to convince him not to go dungeoning, and, failing that, at least prepares him as thoroughly as she can.
But why help Mithrun? She used to hate Mithrun, but after realizing what a secretly twisted person he was, she actually thought of him more positively (oh, Milsiril). So it wasn't as if she held the kind of grudge that might motivate her to make his already-depleted life even more miserable by sending him back to the dungeons. And it wasn't that she felt bad for him either, since she didn't visit Mithrun for the first ~20 years of his recovery.
The Adventurer's Bible says that Utaya was the impetus for Mithrun returning to the Canaries, but Milsiril is the one who made the trip to see him and tell him about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why would Milsiril work so hard to get her old coworker back into fighting fit? Why encourage him to return to such a dangerous lifestyle, when she was the one who chose not to mercy-kill him?
Tumblr media
That last panel is such a crazy thing to hint at and then never elaborate on. Without it we could have just thought that Milsiril wanted the Canaries' work to continue without her, even if it seemed out of character. I think some people even assume she's just a natural caretaker as a foster mom and handwave it to include nursing Mithrun too. What could Milsiril's suspicious motives be? What does she gain from Mithrun joining the Canaries that isn't an altruistic desire to see dungeons safely sealed? Feeling a sense of responsibility for the work she left behind isn't an ulterior motive.
Tumblr media
My theory is: Milsiril, knowing that Mithrun was empty save for the burning desire to face the demon again, wound him up like a clockwork doll and pointed him back at the dungeons.
Hoping that he'd eliminate the biggest threat to Kabru's life, before it was too late for him.
Milsiril the puppetmaster.

the fact the marty is the first human being to ever time travel and that the only other person (einstein, not actually a person) to do it before him only traveled minute while he went 30 fucking years (15768000 minutes) is a very good concept for potential angst
say that time travel causes negative strain on a person’s mind (like can cause amnesia) and the farther you go the worse the effect is. so einstein would not be effected in any way, while marty would be very very badly effected. which would be bad. for someone in the past. oops.
he would most likely pass out as soon as the traveling happens which causes him to crash, which is not good. im not entirely sure how doc would actually find him so im just gonna gloss over that part :)
doc ends up finding this weirdly dressed teenager with no memory and decides to help him either out of the kindness of his heart or some other reason i can’t think of rn. especially since literally no one in town recognizes this kid or his name, not even the other kid his age with the same last name
as marty starts to regain his memories he comes to a slow realization that, while this is his town, everything is different (or as he says “older”) than he remembers. because of this him and doc go to investigate the delorean, where they find the video camera in there
basically, hyjinks ensue with added amnesia angst (or any other possible problems that could come with time travel)

HSIEGEHKSVEKAU1GAHANAAAAAA
Just read @fiddlstyx 's "What I Left Behind" and A omg it was great. I'm assuming there won't be anymore bc its not in the ending notes but AAAAAA I wish I could keep reading!!!!!
Also I have a couple questions abt it tho (spoilers btw go read it!!)
1. At the beginning it says the prompt was "the further you go back to time the worse your memory gets" or something along the line if that, so does that mean the further as in the more you time travel or further as in further in the past? Because if it's the more you time travel, Emmett would notice and recognize Marty in the drive way therefore being able to tell him just the basics of who he is and his family and stuff. Alternatively, Emmett would not recognize him (but would take him in bc of pity, is what I think is implied at the end, taht he takes him in) although marty would only have a memory of him dying, therefore recognizing him. And with his only memory being of this guy dying he would look absolutely insane bc this kid (who Emmett has never scene in this case) who is scuffed up, sleeping on the curb starts blabbering to him[Emmett] abt how he[Emmett] got shot and he[Marty] got in a car crash and Emmett and the only thing he remembers in his whole life.
Sorry that got out of hand lol, so the questions are
1. What do you mean by "further in time"?
2. Does Doc remember/recognize Marty?
3.Does Doc take Marty in from the streets?
And finally
4. Will there be more added to the fic?

Papercraft Ed! I had the sketch for this one finished a while ago, but for whatever reason didn’t feel quite happy with it. Eventually I tried flipping it to face the opposite way - meaning his automail arm was now facing the viewer and could be shown via rips in his clothes and gloves - and then BAM, I liked how it looked after all! Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make all the difference.
