Why you should read Mist [Unlimited] if you liked ORV
If you haven't heard of it before, Mist [Unlimited] (薄雾[无限) is an action-adventure sci-fi webnovel of 106 chapters by Chinese author Wei Feng Ji Xu (微风几许) and i'm here to tell you why in my humble opinion you should read it if you liked reading Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (and if you haven't read orv yet. well what are you doing)
Mist follows Ji Yushi, a 25-year-old "Recorder" whose job is to travel in time and record future events so that the present can be prepared for them. He also suffers from "hyperthymesia", a condition in which he remembers... everything. Literally can't forget stuff, which is both a blessing and a curse. He gets transferred to another team led by captain Song Qinlang, a notorious homophobe - or is he? And then they get into situations where they basically have to complete missions or they die etc etc you know how it is. Anyway here's a link to the carrd with more info and link to translations.
And here's how it managed to fill the void in my heart after finishing orv:
Frail-looking MC who turns out to be super cunning and big brained
MC with such a good memory it comes off as almost prophetic knowledge about the world he finds himself in
No literally, he remembers every single detail of everything with the same energy as kim dokja remembering everything that happens in the novel, and uses that to his advantage
Cold and aloof yoo joonghyuk-esque "classic protagonist" ML who seems like he looks down on others and doesn't speak much and acts like he resents the MC...
...but actually turns out to be very kind and soft, especially towards the MC
Mc has known ML for much longer than the other thinks
Absolute power couple when they work together
They have to complete missions Or They Die
Missions involve different kinds of worlds with unique characters and well-crafted settings
Parallel worlds that are interconnected in ways you wouldn't have foreseen
Very clever resolutions to the missions, that really shows the capabilities of our main characters
Strong team-spirit among the main cast of characters!
The missions seem to be set up by a system or existence somehow beyond humanity
A mystery of where the world that they find themselves in actually originates from, which ends up being closer to home than expected
ML has a Tragic Backstory(tm) that seriously reminds me of kim dokja's once it gets revealed, including heavy themes about family
Very similar themes about finding one's place in the world and *gasp* being loved by others, in all senses of the word
I'm trying to say this without spoiling too much but the ending of Mist literally reminds me of orv's epilogue and if you've read to the end of orv you know that's a strong statement but it really did manage to evoke in me the same range of human emotions and also the way it's set up is really similar down to the very time loops and paradoxes!!! I can't tell you any more though!!!!
There's probably more i can't think of right now, please do read Mist it's an absolute delight and an Experience(tm)

Vote to get WMMAP’s novel officially licensed in english!
Tumblr media
It's that time of the month again...
Hey guys! As you know, Seven Seas recently licensed WMMAP’s manhwa, and this month (March 2023) they are receiving suggestions for other titles you would like to see in english, including korean manhwas and novels. You can vote for your favorites HERE. Since Seven Seas has the rights to the manhwa, there’s a good chance they will get the novel too, so let them know if that’s something you want! Plus, you get a discount on BookWalker just for answering the survey. Win-win situation!
Tumblr media
The novel has a lot of exclusive scenes, including romance, family, comedy, drama, deeper information about the characters and more! I definitely recommend that WMMAP fans read it!

Dokja’s phone battery
Being 100% fr, I dead@ss thought that after the apocalypse started Dokja’s phone became magic. In the sense that it had infinite battery. In my defense, I thought it was related to the fantastical existence of the TWSA novel on his phone.  Counterargument, I’m stupid
Reading the novel, I now realise that he does indeed need to charge his phone regularly lol (the manhwa just never really touches on it much since ig it’s just filler info) Like, the poor guy is paying special mind to looking around and asking people for power banks cause his phone can just die on him anytime 😭 (in the start at least) Everybody else is like “?Why do you need a power bank?” [Cuz phones are basically useless now since there’s no network or connectivity. Dokja can’t really tell the exact reason so he just ends up like, “Um, I just have to do something, trust”]
Makes me wonder if somebody ever mistook him for just being CHRONICALLY addicted to his phone, cuz from their POV it makes no sense as to why he still keeps pulling it out or is fretting over powerbanks CUZ ITS THE APOCALYPSE ☠️

posting abt it here too.... its been a while since ive gotten rly invested in a new webtoon but im rly enjoying this one...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just clicked on it bc the art style looked cute... and it IS but I didn't expect to actually get so invested 😭😭 It's an adaptation of a webnovel, and it's a twist on the fantasy romance novel isekai genre!! I have no interest in normal romance novel isekai stories tbh, theyre just so boring to me... the only novel isekai I've enjoyed so far have been subversions of the genre... orv, surviving romance,,, so what im saying is im enjoying this bc its also a subversion-!! (So far it doesnt seem to be a romance at all, and the guy being isekai'd hasnt even read the book so it's interesting bc he has to do like detective work to figure out whats going on... ) Here's the synopsis:
Tumblr media
There's not many chapters of the webtoon out but I'm already liking it a lot😭😭 I actually couldnt wait so I found a translation of the webnovel and I started reading it too... It goes into more detail than the webtoon and I can't wait to read more aaah😭😭 Making this post in the hopes of getting someone else to read it with me bc i feel insane rn dkfbndnd
edit: I also want to give ppl a heads up abt a p major translation error in the EN webtoon: The "emperor" is actually a female empress; just mentally correct "his majesty" to "her majesty" in your head when u read😭
edit2: they did it again... The ruler of the Divine Kingdom is also a woman, and was mis tl as male 😭😭 just keep in mind that the rulers of BOTH the major countries (the riester empire and the divine kingdom) are both women!!! Wonder when the webtoon tl will ever fix it...

Two years ago I fell into the very narrow rabbit hole of gender bender webnovels on Scribblehub. Specifically, the very niche subgenre that is basically trans wish-fulfillment is disguise. Stories that use gender bending as a device to tell stories about trans people (mostly trans-femmes) for trans people. Or, to put it more simply, hatching-of-egg stories.
It was a good time. Certainly more fun and cathartic than the awkward phase of looking at infuriatingly bad gender bending manga, having gender feelings that you haven’t quite untangled yet. Completely hypothetical example that, nothing personal here haha.
Anyways, in that time, I found a bunch of good stories for anyone who might be interested. Also, all of these have transfemme protagonists, even if they don’t know that at the beginning. Here we go! I'll start with:
We’re Not So Different, You And I by Elamimax: Three friends find themselves transported in a strange world that blends cyberpunk dystopia with fantasy. Separated, the story is about them trying to find each other again, all the while going through a lot of changes and learning things about themselves. It’s a non-linear story that is in my opinion masterfully told. The prose is evocative and fun and even affecting. The characters go through a lot, and even though I’d say it is light on suspense, it goes heavy with emotions and the way the characters deal with their situation. The non-linear pacing does a great job at delivering a story full of pathos and catharsis. Plus, the world it creates has is concrete enough that I know what it's about, while also being vague enough with details that it can be developed further in a different story if that ever happens. Can’t recommend it more if I could.

Wanna read a fun WebNovel?
Want to start reading webnovels, but don't know where to start?
Simply search on google which novel you want to read or go to the WebNovel app to start.
Here are some beginner friendly recommendations that are fun to read:
>The Author's POV
>The Beginning After the End *
>Supremacy Games
>Omniscient Readers Viewpoint*
>Shadow Slave
>Only I Level Up (Solo Leveling)*
>Trash of Count's Family*
The above novels are GREAT, no doubts about it. BUT if you want absolute gems, then read these:
>Lord Of The Mysteries (Book 1 Completed, Book 2 Ongoing)
>Reverend Insanity (Completed)*
Don't be overwhelmed by the number of chapters in these books, take it slow with one of the books I mentioned above and then move onto the LoTM, RI or SG which have over 1000 chapters.
Many Webnovels also have Webtoons, if you want to know more about how the characters look or want to see Illustrated scenarios from the novels, you can read those Webtoons. I have marked Novels that have Webtoons with a (*).
Start reading webnovels to find your favorite genre, once you do you can drop a comment/reply to ask for more recommendations based on your favorite genre!
HAPPY READING!!!!

My list of favorite novels (named 'Favorite novels (recommend+++)' in my tabs…):
1. ✨'Lord of the Mysteries'✨
2. ´Trash of the Count’s Family' (sorry orv, you appear later)
3. 'Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint' (sometimes I see people recommend these three novels and I’m like "You have good tastes, let’s see what other novels you liked so that I can read them…")
4. ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Side Story' (I’m joking, it’s still orv… but I’ve really written this.)
5. (In truth, the 4th) 'The Demon Prince goes to the Academy' (In life, some things are particularly underrated, and this is one of them. Especially on ao3, someone please write fics for this.)
6. (In truth the 5th) 'The Law of Webnovels' (The manhwa is named 'Inso’s law'.)
7. (The 6th, all favorite novels are equal in my heart from here on) 'The Novel’s Extra' (I don’t know why… It must be the psychological struggle in the middle…)
8. (Still 6th) 'The Hero Returns'
9. (Still 6th) 'How to Raise Your Regressor' (less heavy (I guess…?), for those who like humor)
10. (Still 6th) 'My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending' (only reproach is the lack of chapters)
11. (Still 6th) 'SSS-Class Suicide Hunter'
My criteria for choosing my favorite novels:
First, I went to the list of novels I read and didn’t drop.
Then, I eliminated all those that I didn’t even remember what they talked about. (I called them third rate novels)
After that, I searched for the ones I remembered the names of the characters in it, then realized that it couldn’t be a criteria since I only remembered the names of people from lotm, tcf and orv.
Then, I put all the novels I really liked as first rate novels, the rest as second rate novels (but I like all of them too), and finally put all the novels I would bother rereading in my list of favorite novels. Tadah.
