A Mother Always Knows
For Tamlin Week 2024, Day 1: Heir of Spring
@tamlinweek
Summary: Rosalin, Lady of the Spring Court, gives birth to her third son and discovers that the High Mother has chosen him to be the future High Lord of the Spring Court.
Rating: Teen and up
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1.8k
Read on AO3, or read on below:
“It’s a boy,” the faerie midwife announced proudly, before swaddling the squalling babe up and delivering him gently into the arms of his mother. “He has a fine set of lungs indeed,” she said over his wailing cries, and there was an amused twinkle in her eyes when she added, “Just like his father.” She chuckled fondly when the babe settled in. “The wee little beastie.”
Lady Rosalin gave her a grateful, though tired smile, then turned her attention to her newborn son. His face was still swollen and red from crying, but he had a tuft of hair that would turn out to be as soft and pale as thistledown. Time would tell if he inherited her blue eyes or his father’s green ones. He had a fine appetite already, though, and latched quickly to her breast. As he drank, she stroked his downy cheek and gently rocked him. While she had hoped for a girl, she could not help but fall in love with her newest little boy.
She had already given Magnus two sons, Angus and Fergus. Twins. Births among High Fae nobility were already a rarity, but to bear twins that lived past infancy was a miracle. Or a curse, though she would never dare say so.
For only one son could inherit the High Lord’s mantle, while the other would have to serve him in a lesser capacity. As would the third, one day. She did not look forward to that day, when she would lose her husband and be forced to witness one son challenge the other for his title. The magic of the Cauldron always chose the Heir, but few were willing to accept the High Mother’s will, let alone their own mother’s. If she had her way, she would choose the eldest and be done with it, but Fergus was only five minutes younger than his brother. It was hardly fair. And now they had another brother to contend with, no matter how young and innocent.
Such was the nature of the Spring Court, ruthless and fierce despite its inherent beauty.
Rosalin sighed and let her head fall back against the pillows as the servants helped the midwife take away the bloody linens and clean up the room, preparing for the High Lord’s arrival. No doubt he was already being informed of a successful delivery and was on his way to see her.
She turned her head to look at the bouquet of roses by her bedside. Her mate had had them delivered the day before, freshly cut from the garden he had planted for her. He knew that she would be missing them, and had included a single rose of every color in the bouquet. She smiled. For all his fierce, overprotective habits, he did love her.
Her vision was beginning to turn double as she drifted off, then she lifted her head with a start.
She wasn’t seeing double. There were now two roses of every color blossoming in the vase. Her mouth fell open as she realized that new roses were budding and blooming right before her eyes. She glanced around, but the midwife and the servants didn’t seem to notice. As quickly and as carefully as she could, she shifted the baby to the other breast. He let out a small growl at the interruption before latching on again in earnest.
The sound should have made her laugh—the wee little beastie—but it only made her want to weep.
Did the midwife know…? No. She couldn’t know. Not when Rosalin herself didn’t know. At least, not yet.
With her heart in her throat, she reached out and carefully turned the cut-crystal vase to see if her suspicions were correct.
Her heart sunk to the depths of her aching womb as she saw what she had not hoped to see.
One half of the bouquet had continued to bloom, while the other half had not.
Only the roses closest to her had grown despite being cut from the bushes outside.
No… Only the roses closest to the baby.
Her son.
The High Lord’s son.
The true Heir of Spring.
She made sure no one was looking, then, with a pained groan, shoved the vase off the table.
The crystal shattered, and the roses scattered.
And her innocent child began to cry.
The servants swarmed around her, fretting as she tried to soothe her squalling babe.
“It’s all right. It’s all right,” she told them as well as her newborn.
She hoped it would be. By keeping his secret, she could keep him a little longer.
If anyone found out that the High Mother had chosen the third born son as the Heir of Spring, he wouldn’t live to see another sunrise.
Such was the nature of the Spring Court.
After all, her husband had once had a brother, too.
As if the noise had summoned him, which it probably had, he appeared in the doorway like a thunderclap.
Rosalin cradled the baby against her breast and prayed that Magnus wouldn’t notice how the roses he had picked for her had doubled since their son was born. No such sign had appeared when the twins were born, even though there should have been, but the magic knew better. She knew better.
A mother always knows.
“What happened?” he demanded, stalking closer. Although he was normally quite handsome, even for a High Fae, with his long brown hair and sun-bronzed skin, he was terrifying now. His green eyes flashed, and his claws and teeth were already long and gleaming as he searched for the threat to his mate and newborn child.
The servants fell back, trembling as they swept into deep curtsies at his approach. Only Oona, the midwife, stood by Rosalin’s bedside, staring the High Lord down.
“A vase broke, Your Lordship,” she said firmly over the baby’s cries. “It was an accident. Nothing more.” When the High Lord stood there, growling skeptically at the mess on the floor, she added, “So, unless you plan on cutting the mischievous sprite responsible into ribbons, I suggest you put those claws away before you hurt someone.”
If Oona hadn’t been the one to deliver the High Lord himself, she might have felt his claws for her audacity, and borne the scars forever to prove it.
Magnus growled again, but he curled his claws into his fists to hide them. “Is that what happened?” he asked his wife roughly.
Rosalin quickly nodded, although her heart was still beating fiercely. “The vase slipped. That’s all.”
In the tense silence that followed, the baby hiccuped then snuffled against her shoulder. Rosalin gently patted his tiny back. It had been a long day for both of them.
Magnus’s fierce demeanor softened as he silently waved a hand over the shattered mess. The crystal vase reformed itself on the table, but the fallen roses remained scattered on the floor.
“Fresh roses from the garden,” he told the servants. When they bowed their heads and stood to carry out his command, he continued in a much gentler voice as he looked at his mate, “And make them red, for my Rose.”
She breathed a sigh of relief, and gave him a warm, glad smile. Their son’s secret was safe, at least for a little while.
Magnus stepped over the fallen roses to sit beside her on the bed. When he lifted his chin to kiss her, there was no sign of his claws. “And how are you, my Rose?” he asked, tenderly stroking the sweaty curls from her brow.
Tears filled her eyes at his gentleness. If only he could be this gentle with their sons. “As well as can be expected,” she said softly, then shifted the baby away from her shoulder so that Magnus could see him. “Look. Isn’t he beautiful?”
Magnus frowned, but he reached out a finger to stroke the baby’s rounded cheek. “He’s so small,” he murmured.
Oona spoke up before Rosalin could object. “He will grow, as you did, my Lord,” the midwife said, then gave the royal couple a short curtsy when Magnus turned his annoyed frown on her. “I will go and speak to the nursemaid, my Lady,” she said, ignoring the High Lord. “Then you and the child must get some rest.”
“Thank you, Oona,” Rosalin said before the High Lord could scold her. She was only doing her duty, after all.
When the servants had gone and left them alone, Magnus at last reached for the baby, and Rosalin reluctantly handed him over.
His secret is safe, she reminded herself as she watched her mate’s spring green eyes sweep over the face of his future heir.
“Another son,” Magnus said quietly, even though no one else was around to hear.
“Are you disappointed?” she asked, hoping that the answer would be No. Their child was less than an hour old, and didn’t need to grow up under the shadow of his father’s disapproval.
Magnus sighed. “Only for your sake,” he replied, giving her a tight smile. “I know how much you wanted a daughter. Someday, I shall give you one.”
Rosalin let out a weary chuckle, despite herself. “Someday,” she agreed, decorously sliding the collar of her shift back into place. “For now, I am content with you, and Angus, and Fergus, and now our newest little one.”
Magnus’s frown softened as he chuckled. “You are so easy to please, my love,” he said, then kissed her again. He might have lingered had the baby not let out a small gurgle and began to squirm in his father’s arms. Magnus pulled away and addressed his son at last. “I suppose you shall need a name, as well, little one,” he remarked.
“What about Tam?” Rosalin offered.
“Tam?” Magnus repeated, clearly surprised that she had come up with a name so quickly.
She smiled shyly. “After my father, Tamhas,” she reminded him. “You did say I might use his name one day.”
Magnus’s brow furrowed as he pursed his lips, remembering. “So I did,” he conceded, though gruffly. “Although I had hoped for another little Rosalin…” He sighed and handed the squirming baby back. “I suppose it can’t be helped now.”
Rosalin smiled sadly as she nestled the baby in the crook of her arm. “He will make you proud, Magnus. I promise.”
The High Lord of Spring looked into his young son’s face. “Tam,” he repeated softly. “Tam-lin.” He smiled at her surprised expression. “After his mother.”
Rosalin beamed. “Tamlin,” she repeated as the baby cooed and reached for her. “I like it.”
Tamlin’s tiny fingers barely wrapped around one of her own, but his grip was strong.
It was then that she knew that he would live, and live a long time.
He might even inherit the High Lord’s mantle without bloodshed.
Tamlin. Her Tamlin. Future High Lord and Heir of the Spring Court. He would be a fine ruler someday. She could feel it.
A mother always knows.

Think about how fucked up the mating bond is, people get bonded to whoever tf the magic chooses for them considering only how much powerful you are and that your kids will be powerful as fuck, and if you don't like them or some shit happened between you two earlier, sorry but the chances of you ending up with said person in a toxic relationship are still high, look at how many toxic bonds we saw:
we have tamlin's family, his father and brothers were worse than the vanserras and his mom and father were mated, so it didn't matter how much shit his father was, the mom just accepted that.
feysand's bond, fucked up as fuck. after all rhysand put feyre through during UTM, we get to acomaf (and there is also that stupid ring quest, imagine if she died..) where he gives her a long ass sad background story and she just accepted it.... yet if she wasn't his mate she would be pretty much death in book 1, and oh wait, let's not forget the fact he hid life threatening information about her pregnancy, and like, she is still with him as if nothing had happened.
nessian bond! also fucked up, we have cassian watching nesta fall the stairs and be like "haha i watched bc if get to the end, i would have to take you back upstairs, also you fell bc you didnt train so it is all YOUR fault", cassian telling her everybody hates her, cassian doesn't understand how her sisters love her, cassian taking her to a hike bc she (25 years old) was the only one between all those 500+ years old bitches who had balls to tell feyre she was gonna die before christmas, makes her carry a bag that is a third of her weight (lets say she is 1,75m and weights 60kg, she was carrying around 20kg and according to a search in google, a hiking backpack shouldn't weight more than 10 percent of the person's weight, which in this case Nesta should be carrying 6kg and not more than that...) during this hike. He has sex with her after she gets sexual assaulted by a mythical creature, he gets butthurt when she says a fact about riceman, gets angry when she gets uncomfortabled about the fact he wants everyone to know they share bed (and he literaly says exactly that), like, he even says that he didn't choice to be shackled to her, that means he wouldn't choice her => he wouldn't be with her if there wasn't a bond. During acosf we see that he knows shit about her and he doesnt even like her but he stilld wants her exclusively bc of the bond and nesta is molded and treated like shit until submission so she can fit him and his family. Let's not forget that whatever thing nesta disagres, cassian get like "is that because i am a bastard low born nobody and my ass is flat?". Also from a logic point of view (considering the power thing and that the cauldron chooses who you are mated with and it blessed elain with gifts and got angry at nesta bc she took its power) wouldn't make more sense if nesta ended up with a high lord/high lord heir or azriel? nesta is powerful as fuck, powerful to the point rhysand, a pOWErfuLl high lord (take his telepathy away and he is in the same level as the other high lords) struggles to contain her power, she is in the same level of a high lord, and i know cassian had 7 siphons but it is azriel who has not only 7 siphons but is also a shadowsinger, they are poweful but not in the same level as a high lord/nesta yet azriel at least has a special power, so between them two azriel is more logical, and in a general point of view, a high lord/heir... (i repeat, this bond was a curse threw at nesta)
drakon and miryam, too fucked up, she was a slave, that was given to him as gift from his bride/wife/girlfriend whatever. she was a slave, and half human, and during this time humans were all slaves. and drakon, prince, faerie... she was with jurian then somehow she fell in love with drakon(?) i don't remember their story properly, but i am pretty sure that if there wasn't a mating bond, they would not have any relationship. I honestly find this one too weird/absurd that I even have a theory that drakon is daemanti and manipulated miryam to ''love'' him (pretty much like rhysand seems to be doing/did to feyre... maybe that is why drakon and rhysand were friends or something, drakon taught him the telepathy things)
vs non-toxic:
Lucien and Elain, they aren't together, elain doesn't want to get close to lucien and he respects it, lucien doesn't force himself into her, keeps his distance s he is aware she is not comfortable, he let her know they are bonded from the beginning as opposite to some people up there...
Kallias and viviane - we didn't see much about them but considering they were friends since young age, so we are supposed to assume they are good...
Honestly if i was faerie i would be afraid of having a mate.

Something that I've seen a lot in Sjm's books is that all the fathers are dead. Now, I've only read Acotar and a few pieces of information from ToG, but it's always the same with fathers in her books...
Feyre's dad does nothing for his family. He doesn't try to help them. He's crippled, but he could have still done something. He could have at least tried.
Rhysand's dad also seems horrible. Tamlin's father is the same. Azriel's also. Cassian's... does he even know who his father is (I can't remember). Beron is dreadful. Keir is the same. Helion... he doesn't even know he has a kid, and he's... well, acting like a teenager. Who else do we have? All those Ilyrian fathers who do nothing to prevent someone from clipping their daughters' wings.
Also, Rhysand as a father... Yeah, he might be the worst of all of those.
From what I've read from ToG about fathers. Caelena's (Aelin's (I read a bit too much) dad is dead. The king of Ardalan (I got it wrong, didn't I?) is... long dead? Lysandra's dad is... dead? Out of the picture? (Don't get me started on her mom). Elide's dad is dead. Aelin's father figure (the assassin whose name I just can't remember) also seems horrible. Lorcan... wasn't he left on the street? Chaol's dad threw his kid out from his house. I can't remember anyone else I've read about.
(Sorry if I got something wrong, I haven't read ToG, I just searched to see if it was only Acotar fathers.)
Now, why is there simply no loving father who isn't dead? Why are all of them horrible or dead? There was the Emperor (he was called something else, but I can't remember his title), who seemed to genuinely care about his kids, but he did encourage them to fight for the throne, or at least that's how I got it. Like, why? What was so hard about just mentioning a character whose father wasn't horrible or dead?

Flower Mischief
If you can't tell I'm currently bouncing! Day 3 and I been waiting for this prompt cuz Florist Tamlin AU is giving me life. Today on the agenda, Tamcien being cute and petty. Readers will recognized the boquet described here from the old flower language insult post that's floating around Tumblr. Hope you all like!
@tamlinweek
Tamlin Week 2024 -Day 3: Flower Language
Flower Mischief
Tamlin perked up when he saw his favorite costumer, and good friend coming down the road. He was about to greet Lucien with the biggest smile he could until he noticed the redhead's russet eyes were puffy and reddened and his pretty face had tears tracks. A far cry from his usual beautiful smile.
"Lucien! What happened? Do you need water?! Should I call someone?"
"No...It's fine. I was just hoping Andras was still clocked in. I need a ride."
"I think he left an hour ago, but I can help if you'd like. What happened?"
He sighed not wanting to look at him. "Elain cheated on me."
Tamlin nearly screamed. He froze for a moment and then put down the pot of lilies he was holding.
"I'm sorry. Did you just say Elain cheated on you?!"
"Yes. Let's just say I came home early from college and had a surprise visit. Sorry to say the floral orders will stop for a while."
"Forget about that! I'm so sorry to hear that. Let me get you some water. Here sit down and I'll be right with you."
Tamlin rushed back to the breakroom where Dorevan was raiding the mini fridge.
"If you took my ice water I'll kill you."
"Chill, pipsqueak. I took some soda and stole the salami sandwich Hart left there. Roxy packed us salads for lunch, you can have mine if you want, too much lettuce."
"You're gonna get scurvy if you don't eat at least a leafy green a week!" Tamlin chastised his brother as he grabbed two ice water bottles. "Are you gonna close up?"
"Yeah, Ciaran and Roxanne have date night but they're leaving the kiddo with mom and dad. I'll close shop late, maybe get the wedding order done too. Thesan is my friend but if he changes colors one more time Khalid will be a widow before the wedding."
"Go easy on him! Those two are hopeless."
"Like you and your pretty redhead?"
"Hush!"
Dorevan smiled. "I can hear you all the way down here. Just be nice. He's single now, isn't he?"
"Shhhh. He is but the poor man was just cheated on! I'm not going to take advantage fo that."
Dorevan rolled his brown eyes so far Tamlin thought he'd go blind. "You're such a goody two shoes. Go get that man and help him get revenge. Perfect first date!"
"If Alis was on shift she'd kick ya."
"Good thing she's off today. Now run along before your fire fox leaves."
"Stay quiet or I'm telling Cresseida you don't really like seafood and go to the restaurant just to have her as your waitress."
"Tamlin I swear to fuck if you do that I'll beat you up!"
Tamlin just laughed as he walked out with the water and went back to Lucien's side. "Here you go!"
"Thanks."
The two had a nice drink and Tamlin began putting everything away everything before his shift ended.
He noticed Dorevan had left the orange lilies out on display and he had an idea.
"Lucien, you once told me your ex knows flower language, correct?"
"Yes. I often suggested themed boquets for that reason. Why do you ask?"
Tamlin smirked mischievously. "We could give her a little parting gift to ease your sorrows. Free of charge of course."
"Tamlin, I can't ask that of you!"
"Hey if it bothers ya just take me out for coffee sometime."
It made him giddy to see a slight blush take over the redhead's dark skin. Tamlin took out the flowers a day explained their meaning to Lucien as he arranged them.
"These are geraniums they represent stupidity, the yellow carnations mean disapointment, the foxglove is insincerity, and finally the orange lilies represent hatred."
The end result was a beautiful boquet that was full of loathing. Lucien seemed impressed. "Too good of a parting gift but it's a nice way to be petty silently. Thank you."
"Anytime."
The pair heard a honking from outside the door. Tamlin recognized it as Arryn Vanserra's red SUV.
"Ugh! The twins found me? No doubt they'll want gossip."
"You know them?"
"We're siblings."
"Oh...Oh right you have the same last name. You just look very diffrent."
Lucien smirked. "I was the cuck baby. Ask mom."
He nearly busted a lung laughing at that.
"Luciiiiii, I'll become an old lady honking outside. Oh hi Tami!"
"Hey Tanya. Congrats on the transition, you're looking lovely."
"Thanks blondie! Just came to pick up the baby, Eris and Nesta sent me to take you out for treats with Arryn."
"You all know already?!"
"Eris is a bigger gossip than me, dummy. We went to get your things. Gideon and Nemesis would've beaten Az up if Eris didn't stop em and let Nesta unleash a yelling reckoning instead. It was glorious!
The boys are setting everything up for ya at Cedric's place. Unless you wanna go stay with mom and Helion. Feyre said you can stay with her and Bryaxis too, she's pretty livid at flower girlie too."
"Ugh no, mom and dad will get over emotional and I don't wanna worry them. Feyre's family and roommates are fun to hang out with but their house is a permanent rave. I'll stay with Ced."
"Wise choice, now get to it! We can go clubbing after the ice cream! Wanna come along Tamlin?"
"Well, I'd love to but I have to make a delivery before that." He said while glancing at
"That can be done tomorrow, I'd rather have you out for some ice cream and dancing if you're still interested." Lucien said.
Tamlin smiled. "Then let me clock out and I'll be right with ya."
With the Vanserras heading for the car, Tamlin put away his apron, clocked out and got a small flower for the road. He and Lucien went to the backseat while twins sat in the front, before they headed out he put a small bloom on Lucien's hair.
"What's this?"
"A little pick me up for the road."
"A daffodil? What does this one mean?"
"New beginnings."
Tamlin was overjoyed to see Lucien smiling sweetly at him, already in a better mood. He'd make sure the redhead was the one receiving flowers this time.

If Feylin was canon though all books, do you think it would be like a good choice to separate them to give feyre the time to grow on her own and like actually age up? Because even if Tamlin don't actually mean to be like that they are very apart in age... VERY. And I don't know if SJM's tried to compesated that giving all the males characters a brain of a horny teen but... the age difference it's still there. And we can observe (and I think you made a post about it) how biased Feyre can be depending of whom she is with... She doesn't complain, and WHEN she does a simple saying makes her shut again... I don't know if it something I create of her, like a mental image or if she's really like that... But my impression is that she accepted EVERYTHING so that she can still be with the person she loved. She's is so afraid of losing that she don't set boundaries or idk stood more to her morals... As we can see with Rhysand and with TamTam. She just so young. And it doesn't mare how much Sarah tries to show how strong she is and how Glowing and sparked, she's just a twenty two years woman, that was treated like nothing by her mom, ignored by her family to the point she was desperate that NO ONE tried to saved her :(. The only human relationship before the Fae was a console, but nothing more than that. When she see red flags she always tried to convince herself that it all HER, that she's the one overreacting... And all her romantic relationships look so dangerous...
(omg bookish I'm so sorry I was just gonna ask a simple question but then I get all angsty... I hope you doing fine btw)
This is actually a really good question, but if you want me to be completely honest I think the answer to that has more to do with what type of story Sarah would've written after ACOTAR had Feylin remained canon. though I will acknowledge that the age gap even makes me feel ick at times too
These books are fantasy fairytale retellings, BATB retellings to be specific, so there's no way to wholly make that healthy. If Sarah exclusively went with that angle, the "ehhhhhh its just a fairytale my readers can look the other way and accept the relationship because its just a fictional fairytale retelling", then IMO it would work just fine. Fiction doesn't need to be sanitized, after all, and especially if it were solely marketed towards adult readers who are aware of the dangers of real life age gap relationships then Sarah wouldn't really need to. We can let it be fluffy and cute with no further introspection on the age gap because it's only fiction.
It's a more nuanced convo if we're talking YA, because as @longsightmyth has pointed out before teen pregnancies are often caused by teen girls hooking up with older adult men, not boys their age, so the romanticization of the age gap in YA and how Feylin plays into that needs a more nuanced look. Maybe here I'd argue yes, they could be separated and then meet back up decades later. That's actually. Hold up. that could be a good fic idea
And if we're also going to do the whole "abuse and domestic violence and red flags" theme from ACOMAF, then IMO I'd also say yes--separate Feylin, let Feyre grow older, and then Feyre decades later, as an established adult, can be used to explore those themes of red flags and abuse as she'll be in a place mentally where she can healthily enter a relationship with someone older than her.

ACOTAR characters on Boxing Day rank?
Halloween, you mean? I just explained that I was an ignorant, shoe-less American. @the-lonelybarricade tried to educate me, it's like second Christmas? Sorry anon, I wish we could be more cultured. But we can't.
17. Amren- absolutely will not hand candy to children
16. Azriel- went too hard on the haunted themed yard and now no one will approach the drive way. Doesn't help his costume is horrifying.
15. Mor- Sets up a booth at the edge of the driveway charging $3 for spiked apple cider for parents only. HEAVY pours, these parents don't realize they're fucked until their kids are running amok. Only tricks tonight.
14. Nesta- forces children to share a joke before handing one piece of candy, doesn't laugh if the joke isn't funny. A lot of shamed children that night.
13. Jurian- Buys massive bag of candy, eats it himself in his living room while refusing to answer the doorbell. He's not handing out $16 worth of candy to CHILDREN
12. Tamlin- Doesn't dress up or decorate yard. Traditional triangle eyes pumpkin. Did buy candy but it's smarties. Porch light off by 9pm.
11. Feyre- Projector on the lawn playing Nightmare Before Christmas. Family costume with something cute and unoffensive that definitely reminds all the other moms that she is still hot and so is her husband.
10. Cassian- Sitting in middle of the street in lawn chair with other dads, surrounded by fire pit. Set up a massive table with candy, doesn't care how much the children take because he has POUNDS of it in the garage. It will all be gone by the end of the night
9. Gwyn- "oh my gosh, what are you supposed to be?" all night. Active interest in every costume she sees, giving out candy left and right. Runs out too quickly and has to rob Cassian for more.
8. Emerie- Speakers with halloween themed jams in her yard. Fistfuls of candy straight from plastic cauldron. Wore a witch costume, looks very cute.
7. Lucien- Halloween party at his house. All his friends are smashed. Doorbell rings, watches his wife dresses as slutty poison Ivy give a bunch of toddlers candy. Someone pukes in an expensive vase.
6. Vassa- trick or treating with everyone else. What do you mean this is only for children? Has the SPIRIT of a child, give her the fucking candy, Nesta.
5. Helion- King of the slutty halloween costume. Absolutely came to that party to ruin lives. Shots in the kitchen, accidentally pukes in a vase.
4. Tarquin- fun haunted maze for children that is absolutely age appropriate. Shirtless costume has all the moms lingering at the edge of the yard (INCLUDING FEYRE GIRL WE CAN SEE YOU)
3. Rhysand- somehow always has a beer in hand? Massive halloween light display. Pumpkins carved into super neat shapes. Fog machine has turned yard into a spooky graveyard. Part of the a couple costume, watching Tarquin next door VERY closely.
2. Elain- Slutty poison Ivy costume UNMATCHED. Bought full-sized candy bars in bulk, says nothing when she sees repeat children hitting up her door. Best halloween party on the block, spooky halloween treats on theme and yet so delicious. Understands Halloween is equal parts being hot and being nice to kids.
1. Eris Vanserra- King of the pumpkin patch himself. Appropriate spooky front yard, just enough to make people wary but not so horrifying they won't come up. Full-sized candy IF they put one of his goodest boys ever. Handing out shots to parents. Yard a Halloween-wonder land of pumpkins and ghosts. Absolute best night of the year for Eris, who will deny he enjoys it at all. Closes up shop around 11 to show his brother how to have a good time, wakes up on the front lawn cheek pressed to the grass.

I don't think that I will ever understand Vas/sien. I'm okay with people shipping them, even when they barely have any romantic coded scenes. It's just weird seeing people shout how Vas/sien have canon scenes and have an "actual spark" when the only canon scenes they have is just Lucien making a face. Yeah, they may live together and only Sarah knows what they do off page, but we have only seen just 3 little moments of Lucien making faces when it's about Vassa. I believe they count Lucien freeing Vassa and the whole "lord of fire and the firebird" thing, but Vassa hates the curse and Lucien is also the heir to the day court, a court where there is enough sunshine for a certain someone named Elain. idk... it just isn't enough for me to say that they are in love or have a high chance to become endgame. Not when there is already another potential LI for Vassa and he's called jurian. Jassa may not have many canon scenes either, but there are these lines "2 sides of the same coin" "At each other's throats as they like to be" that Sarah has thrown in for Jassa. We have seen them bantering in canon as well.. there's also the little history that they have when Vassa saw through all his lies. Vassa is a queen, Jurian a general, they're both mortal and they both seem to care for their people and seem to have the same goals. Their personalities seem to fit well together too.
I believe that Jassa is the type of ship that Sarah would go for. They’re equals and banter a lot. We all know that she doesn't go with the ships that don't have any tension or banter where they also challange each other... which he have not seen at least once with el/riel and I think it's also too late for El/riel to have that. Vas/sien seem to be just good friends and I dislike how people assume that they can only be lovers, just because he's a guy and she a women and his mate is crushing on a bat. Gwynriel challange and tease each other, Elucien have a lot of tension and angst, Jassa banter a lot as well - exactly Sarah’s type.
I get it in the sense that I understand why people see side characters who have 1-2 intriguing traits and we try to build up things about them in our heads. It's a fun exercise to imagine what they are up to when they aren't on the page, like how did the Suriel know everything, and what's Alis up to now, and I hope Tomas Mandray is choking on his tie somewhere. We know Vassa is a mortal queen who has been cursed because she was sold out by the other queens, she still commands her armies, and she and Jurian tend to butt heads and she's kinda crass. That's about it!
And we don't know a ton about her and Jurian other than like you mentioned, two sides of the same coin, but to me it's enough to imagine what they'd be like together. Lucien clearly has third wheel syndrome. He's annoyed at these two mother effers who need to just bone already.
But Lucien isn't like that, to me. I mean, he *isn't* the kind of character that we have minimal info about and so can insert whatever traits and feelings we want to imagine. We already know a lot about him and he has so. Much. Going. On. Clear connections to various courts and powerful, political figures in them, a complicated romantic life, a complicated family life. We know what his relationships are like with Beron, Feyre, Tamlin, his mom, his brothers, and we know enough to guess at what his relationships with Helion and Elain would be like. I think we fully know what's going on with him, and that includes looking at Elain in longing in acosf. (When people say they aren't interested in each other lmaooooo the word "longing" is NOT ambiguous, babes.)
Those are my two cents. I don't really care what people ship or what characters they like, but I just don't see it ever happening in canon!

One/Eve
Scary lady, apparently really old, one of the founders, seems to be the unofficial leader of the council, works hr?
Two/Archivist/Stefan Light
Grumpy and doesn't like to talk to us, long term friends with Eight, maybe friends with Experimenter but who knows what those guys have going on anyway, has a metal arm and a husband (not related), was married to Eight at some point, works testing and development
Three/All-seeing Eye/Kid/James Peterson
Ai copy of a dead kid which was the previous Three (anomalous, died from being overworked by the council), can be spooky but is mostly overly curious, likes snooping around in people's business with us, friends with Koshek, works it
Four/Ambassador
Only became an o5 earlier this year, previously a field agent, missing an eye, definitely not flirting with Seven, anomalous (very fast), works pr or so
Five/Blackbird
?birds??? He's blind and maybe close with Ten, works goi, that's all we know
Six/Puppet
Also very new to o5-ing, was with the SH before, his staff (Magnolia) will be the next o5-8, apparently very shy but we never met them so, works goi
Seven/Daughter/Julie/Clara Rigby
The one you talked to before, came from civilian service because she was bothering the foundation with her journalism and then ended up in the disinformation center I think, had a girlfriend and child who died in the 60s or so, long term friends with Eight (but not as long as Two), adopted child of Eleven, adopted Koshek some time ago, liar liar pants on fire but not very good at it, works amnestics and multiverse stuff
Eight/Dogwood/Green/Samuel Hoadley
Experimenter's friend you talked to, small and very angry and trigger happy and probably pyromanic, murdered his entire family (including the previous o5-8 who was his uncle), rich kid who ran away from home and got picked up by Ten, former field agent, got abused there (and back home) along with some others but is oblivious to it, ‘likes’ amnestics a little too much, has a daughter named London and a granddaughter named Suri or so, ongoing feud with the Nines, will be murdered by the council in 17 years for killing Willow for Ten, works mtfs and weaponry
Nines/Lovers/Willow and Val
Pretty shitty people from the little we know, ongoing feud with Eight, Willow was also one of the kids Ten abused and used to be a doctor, Val is anomalous (something with math), work finances?
Ten/Veteran/Mad General/Mikhail
Shitty as well but on another level, again the whole thing with the kids (most of which died btw), Experimenter wants to fight him for what he did to Eight, will get Eight and Willow killed to save his own ass, has a farm somewhere, Russian or so, works security?
Eleven/Liar/Theo-something
Weird and kind of menacing, shapeshifter, said she's Loki?, maybe used to be human but saod she's a god, friends with Adam and sends him stuff like a lizard sometimes, don't trust what she says, a founder, works disinformation
Twelve/Cyrus
Brain in a jar?? ??? A founder and mediator I think
Thirteen/Tamlin
Time god, very tall (8'5"?), doesn't talk often, generally scary, controls their site-1 and made it eat someone at some point?, a founder, tie breaker
Admin/Agnes Peterson
Mom of the dead previous Three, we don't hear much from her, sort of in charge of the ais
Admin middleman and duke
Exist??
Meddler [After taking some time to read through]: I see... Well... I appreciate you clarifying that Two's metal arm and husband are not related as I was briefly concerned for a moment there. I was not aware that our own Six and that Ten were feuding?... Are things alright in that matter? It sounds mildly concerning?

You know what since we’re still in quarantine and i have nothing else better to do, i need to obsess over ACOTAR. I don't like a court of frost and starlight. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why I didn't like it. I aggressively read the book in maybe a day and I closed it feeling frustrated and annoyed. My version had A Court of Silver Flames preview so that definitely contributed to my annoyance greatly.
It's because it felt too perfect. Everything that had happened -- after the entire war was fought and won, they just go back to their normal lives? Yes there were hiccups and yes there were still aspects that made every IC character feel like their problems aren’t solved yet...but it didnt feel right. yes i enjoyed the snowball fight between the bat boys, feyre + rhys sexy time, and those little comfort moments too, the slice of life type things and seeing feyre accomplishing her goals and how hopeful the future seems BUT its too fast. the good parts of the book did not offset the bad parts of it.
Feyre literally accomplished pretty much every single goal she made back in ACOMAF just like that?? within a span of what a few months? a year?? She really came back from an entire war -- probably the first war of many since she's immortal and just like that, after her 21st birthday: she gets a whole entire estate, wants to start poppin babies, opens her art studio and starts teaching kids and then acting like she can rule an entire court?? the timeline is sooo short esp since its been brought up over and over again how everyone is literally 500 years old and have a super “messy” history and their changes seems to come super dupe slowly. but feyre, who has only lived 0.000000002% of her fae life, is out here thriving just fine???
the war devastated thousands of illyrian soldiers where its changing the politics of the illyrains and the faes, all of whom feyre has responsibilities over too as high lady. the mortal queens are still at large who left the humans on prythian to die which is why feyre was willing to go to war in the first place! what about the rest of hybern and their land and residents?? they wanted to enslave humans for social and economical reasons! then what about integrating humans w deep hatred and fear with deeply prejudice fae??? there’s also spring and summer court who are literally in ruins. thats literally so much. so idk how feyre is just chillin???? she gonna let rhys do all the hard work???
like feyre sit down. u should not be having a baby. esp since it took u literally a 700 pages to heal from those 3 months UTM. ur telling me shes gonna whole heartedly bring in a newborn in a war devastated world, with civil unrest (illyrains, other courts), with the messiness of human and fae integration, with trauma u and rhys will have to continue to overcome esp after THIS war??? even helping ur sisters w their traumas??
Tumblr media
this is a personal opinion on this subject (and maybe my thoughts will change on this later on; opened to other thoughts) but when i read the part about how that weaver/seamstress artist who made that dark quilt that feyre loved talked about how her mate of 300 years didn’t come back from the war and her biggest regret was that she didnt have a kid to remember him by i just thought ur kid isn’t some sort of memorabilia. don’t have a kid to keep the memory of ur mate alive; have a kid cuz u want a kid purely for the sake of having a kid. ur memories and photos and shit will keep their memory alive but its not having a kid. some primitive need to keep the genes alive maybe?? but the way it was phrased and then in turn how feyre was like oh i need  a baby pronto cuz rhys might die in the next war and regret not having a kid with him didn’t sit right with me. also the other couple were together for +300 years and have a rich life together, while shes been with rhys for literally two years THATS NOTHING IN FAE YEARS. thats still the honeymoon phase and also ur problems arent even close to being over!!!
everyone was shitty to nesta. in ACOMAF, we saw how much the IC went through and still did all they could to help feyre. what made them not think nesta deserve the same welcome? nesta is mean as a defense but did no one try to figure out what would help (amren got close but shes so under developed)??? feyre knows nesta feels too much and yet she continued to be shitty. continued to flaunt her wealth, her status, her familiarity/borderline know-it-all attitude about fae/night court, her ~estate~. forcing nest to the solstice party when nesta was literally like i dont belong, im looking at everyone through a window type of thing; the fire cracking triggering her, etc. what kind of power play was that when she made nesta come to her estate, where nesta could SEE how ~homey~ and how suscessful feyre is and fully see all the lovely paintings of everyone feyre loves that explicitly exclude her to tell her to fuck off to a war camp?? bro???? cas was a dick too and elaine was rude. i think a lot of his actions were meant to make her angry since anger keeps u fighting (as was the method of rhys for feyre in ACOMAF) but what he said was stupidly shitty and i demand that he apologize properly. elaine could have done more to help her sister but whatever. mor was definitely an ass too (and im upset for how little her character growth is).
Tumblr media
Lucein. that man can’t catch a break tbh. im happy that hes w the band of exiles cuz he is whole heartedly accepted there. feyre was definitely an asshole to him even tho he helped as much as he could throughout the books. he tries so hard w elaine as well and it did hit my heart a bit when she was like gloves to work in my garden?? no ?? i use my bare hands see oNly aZiReL sEeS mE fOr WhO i Am. and at the same feyre is like flaunting her mate status to lucein which is mean as shit. its like this man can’t find love in prythain. then tamlin sending him his box of his things??? thats for sure brutral. tam was literally his partner through it all; savior of sorts even. no love from IC, no love from elaine, no love from feyre, no love from tamlin, no love from autumn court rejected everywhere! also HIS TRUE FATHER?? HEllo???
then on tamlin. i pity the guy! was i suppose to feel that way??? it felt like he is allowed to get a redemption arc and maybe i’ll even root for a redemption arc??? i was absolutely excited for freysand in ACOMAF but after ACOFAS, im like tamlin is....not completely bad??? his relationship w feyre was bad and the controlling parts were very much a no-no. i dont truly understand the dynamics of an abusive relationship but i can understand that it can be insidious and its the little things that hurt the victim. and i felt  feyre through ACOMAF and rooted for her to escape her abuser! but then it felt like i dont think he was doing any of those things out of malice. ill say tamlin is a bad leader and doesn’t know how to run a court outside of what he sees his father do. his understanding on everything is based on the traditions of the past which i think fueled most of the things he did i.e. not telling feyre she was in danger since maybe his mom didn’t do those war planning things. ACOTAR showed how he truly cared/loved and took good care of feyre and her family. he even talked about how he didn’t believe in the enslavement of humans! i think that tam wanted to preserve what he thought was the good (aka feyre + her love of painting) and get back a sense of control that he and his entire court lost while chained to amarantha. but at the same time, i think he truly thought feyre wasn’t safe. he knows rhys can crush minds and knows feyre can’t read/write so when he got that letter telling him shes safe of course hes gonna flip shit and made a deal w the devil (although those temper outbursts were DEFINITIVELY not ok!!!). he also didn’t listen and has sense of he knows best when feyre was not the type of person. but feyre destroyed his entire court. he lost all his sentries who literally went out to die for him during amarantha’s reign. he lost lucien too; his trusted right hand man. his people were cursed for 50 years and then continued to suffer UTM and was in the process of rebuilding too!  but just seeing spring court, WHO BORDERS THE HUMANS, be in ruins where his subjects left him, his people left him and hes all alone in the manson?? that was sooo sad. so im like why does what feyre did not feel satisfactory????? im mad that it didn’t feel right??? maybe there wasn’t a point where feyre talked to tamlin -- like really talked to him esp w her new found voice and power, etc. anyways, i dont hate tamlin and was like oh shit i think feyre fucked up a bit there.
rhys is a dick to nesta. which made me think, if feyre wasn’t his mate would he extend the same love and care to her???  i loved how he tried so hard to make sure feyre was ok. made sure she wasn’t breaking! all of it! but for nesta, he had the audacity to use his high lord voice and be an ass overall. even tho he can see how cas is fucken in love??? even just how he talks to cass feels off too.
i’ll even go as far as to say because of how terrible ACOFAS was, it created this intense divide within the fandom. i remember reading the first three books and was absolutely 1) rooting for freysand  2) curious about the sister relationship and how it will be mended 3) i definitely didn’t hate nesta nor did i hate elaine either -- but i was adament about them talking it out with feyre for those tough times 4) saw a more realistic and charming healing arc 5) was rooting for feyre to be a stronger voice and grow into herself 6) love the dynamic of the inner circle + feyre
but after ACOFAS, I have this intense need to defend nesta and was super mad at how she was treated after the war and in turn a deep dislike for elaine for both her lack of agency, lack of grit that made all the other characters interesting, and lack of care for her sisters (who showed how much they would risk for her). i dont hate rhys but i was extremely not happy with him and his attitude and behavior. feyre became more arrogant and was acting like how asshole rhysand would act. like her life is perfect now and i was not rooting for her anymore. freysand didn’t feel like they have complimenting qualities that made them interesting in the first place but rather they are merging to become the same person but in a bad way. that mind reading thing was cute in the beginning but it became insufferable since all thoughts were shared so seamlessly it made reading feel weird.
anyways those are my thoughts on ACOFAS. it was a 1/5 stars for me and im mad those events transpired. reading the other books made me excited to know what was gonna happen and i was truly ready to accept the characters as flawed and nuanced as they are. im not mad about character not liking each other but i am mad that everything felt off. ACOFAS just felt regressive in some parts and forced in other parts. i know not everything ends in a nice tied up bow but this book single handily ruined what i thought about these characters in the worse way possible. this book wasn’t suppose to wrap up all the problems that exists in the other books but it didn’t feel hopeful like i thought it would. it didn’t feel wrapped up and didn’t feel like i should be excited about the next books. theres so many missing pieces i feel that i think need explaining and at the same time, i think it introduced too many problems at once which made it feel like its jumping around everywhere. although im still excited for ACOSF because i love nesta, and nesta deserves so much better and i want to have hope that this bad ending will either make sense later on or it was just a blimp.

Hi! I really wonder how Sarah will resolve Elriel's romance. I wonder if she'll do something dramatic or will go the Nessian route where there was minimal conflict and they just started hooking up. I am hoping for some spy stuff or them running away. I am just rambling, I don't know, sorry. Just want to talk to someone about it.
Hey, I hear you! I wonder about that too.
I seriously hope that there is some drama and they have to work around all these obstacles. I feel like Rhys is  too set on the mate bond thing and he won’t relent easily.
What I DON’T want is for Feyre to find out about the Solstice situation, get mad at Rhys, yell at him and for him to fold and...boom, everything is resolved. That would be super boring and uninteresting.
I’d like a secret affair, where Elriel sneak and conduct a relationship behind everyone’s backs. Super passionate, wild, unexpected, but no one knows. OR, the sisters help them somehow. Because there is always that issue of scent, so someone has to mask it. Like Nessian scent was masked for the ball, but I don’t know if it requires Rhys, Maybe Feyre can do it, and she does it for them, because she (wisely) ships Elriel!!! Cuz that’s canon, let’s face it.  And Nesta likes Az, but doesn’t like Rhys, so I feel like she is more apt to help in this situation.
And maybe as they sneak out, Az starts to teach Elain more about spying, disappearing, and it leads to that whole part of his life and his work, and that’s how she gets to participate. And maybe use her powers too.
I don’t know. I am rambling too. :) But I certainly want drama around that relationship. Because let’s face it, Nessian were a forgone conclusion. Feysand, pretty much too. Yes, there was Tamlin, but come on.... I really don’t want it just centered around her rejecting the bond, because again, that’s kinds of easy. What I want to see is way, way, way more about Az and his life, and everything we don’t know about him. Maybe he’ll take Elain to Rosehall and hide her there and she’ll bond with his mom?
And I need like 150 flashbacks!!!
I Don’t see either one of them abandoning Night Court though. They are too ingrained and I think just like Nessian, they’ll stay put at the end. SJM is not breaking up the IC.
Guess we’ll just have to sit and wait and hope it doesn’t suck.

Hi. :) Do you think there's any significance to Rosehall and Elain? I know Rosehall is where Azriel's mother is staying at but it seems like an awful coincidence that Azriel's mother would be staying at a place called Rosehall when flowers, specifically roses, seem to always be associated with Elain.
Hello anon🤍
To be honest the first time I've heard of Rosehall I always thought it was Tamlin's manor. We still haven't seen or know the story behind Rosehall or where it is, especially since it seems Azriel's mother lived there for a long time. I wouldn't connect it with Elain for that reason.
Could Rosehall be just Azriel's estate? Could it be something more? Why did Cassian wonder why Azriel never brought his mother to the library if she is living comfortably in Rosehall.
His mother had needed a place like this. But Rhys had established it long after she’d left this world. He wondered if Azriel’s mother had ever considered coming here, or if he’d ever pushed her to. (ACOSF, pg. 259)
I see why some readers would connect Rosehall to Elain because well.. Roses. But we still don't know anything about the place other than it's where Az's mom lives to draw any connections to it to Elain or any other character you see what I mean?
Maybe it's called that because Azriel's mother loves roses so it's something exclusive to her and not Elain you see what I mean? we don't know much.

Will we by any chance see baby Alexander in the Tamlin fic? I think I remember you saying Briar is now his mom and since Kallias is getting to be a dilf...
Without spoiling anything (honestly NOTHING in Thr Kids Arent Alright), I did make Briar Alexanders mother there (I was extensively bullied by @ladynestas ). I don't know how much DILFing we'll see in TCT- maybe I'll add an epilogue of daddy Tamlin teaching his son to turn into a cute, fuzzy little beast and being all pleased and misty eyed about it

what is your opinion on the illyrian poc debate? on one hand, it’s amazing to get some diversity in this series. annoying that ofc the one poc group of people in the series is misogynistic and abuses women but it’s still poc?
on the other hand, illyrians are described as tan. tamlin was described as tan and he was a whole ass white man. i’m not sure if, for me, quick remarks about their golden tan skin is enough to give sjm applause for poc characters in her books. it’s amazing to see fans call out artists that draw the bat boys as white but at the same time, sjm literally described them as ‘tan’ and i feel like this whole debate of whitewashing the illyrians is just giving sjm credit for poc representation when she .. doesn’t have enough of it
Hm, I guess I don't know what the debate is! I am more aware of Stranger Things discourse atm 😂
SJM says that Illyrians are a race. They've been described as being different than High Fae. We now know that the Asteri created them. It's pretty clear that they are not like other fae. Race =/= POC, but they've been described as having darker skin tones, and I think the more important thing is actually their otherness. SJM has Othered the hell out of the Illyrians.
I see the things that sjm wrote and then the way that we interact with what she wrote as being connected but not necessarily the same thing, if that makes sense.
So like sjm says that Illyrians are tan, they are a race, they are also super misogynistic etc. That is NOT a positive look for her, it's not something that anyone is claiming as a good thing but is actually pretty racist. It's a group of people who have been written as a separate race, as tan, but she also slapped them with this "backwards", "brutish" characterization. And then meanwhile she doesn't follow through on that because most Illyrians that we know are actually good people (Emerie, Cassian, Az, Balthazar, Rhys, Rhys's mom) which makes me wonder why she's emphasizing their negative qualities so much? Her villains suck, she just does not put much thought into why a villain or even an antagonist does what they do. So like with the Illyrians, they just *are* that way for no reason, but then when she writes them as named characters that we get to know, they aren't like that at all... anyway.
But to me it seems like the fandom is trying to embrace the positive aspects of what she created, so that's the flip side of the "she created a thing, here is how we interact with it" coin. I've never seen anyone be like "yeah, those Illyrian misogynists have the right idea so here is my 50k fanfic about it!" It's always "hey these are POC and should be depicted as such", and the way I see them talked about in fan works is also generally positive.
So... based on what I've seen, the fandom has embraced the positives of what she wrote, while discarding the crap. We are aware that it's crap - I and many others have written multiple times about how her creation/depiction of Illyrians is problematic at best, racist at worst. We know that. But that's not how we then proceed to think of them in the fandom, and so when people say "hey this art is whitewashed", that's fans who are actively trying to combat something problematic.
Side note, but any argument that says "well this is how it is in the book so I have to accept that and cannot think critically about *why* it was done that way" is.... well. Not my favorite.
To me that's part of being in a fandom anyway, like I've written fanfic where Nehemia doesn't die because that was crap and I don't have to accept that as gospel when it comes to me and the fandom.
Sorry this is longish, I just don't know the full context of the debate so hopefully this was somewhat useful! I just know that the depiction of Illyrians has always been acknowledged as problematic (at least in my corner of the fandom it has been) but that's on SJM, not the fandom. Like if I decided in my fanfic to keep Nehemia alive or to portray Illyrians as nuanced and misunderstood and complex, then that's me leaving behind the parts I don't like because I am aware it's... not good.

Hello Lele. Hope you're having a good day. I just wanted to ask what's your opinion on Feyre sending Nesta to the house of wind. I have seen people say that it's the same as Tam tam locking Feyre and while I don't agree with it I would love to know what you think
Yeah that's not the same. Not at all.
I can see why people think this, because sjm did not follow through on the self-destructive behavior that she had set Nesta up with in acofas. If she had, if we had seen Nesta go through withdrawal from alcohol or seen her craving more or dealing with that addiction, then I think it would be much easier for readers to understand that yes, going to the House of Wind was actually necessary for Nesta's sake.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - the fact that sjm equated Nesta's use of sex, and alcohol, and music alskdhjaklsjdklajsdkasd Fucking hell, NO. One of these things is not like the other and I cannot deal with the fact that someone let her write Nesta's behavior as if laying on the floor of her room and listening to some albums or dancing in the club was the equivalent of regularly drinking to oblivion. Just fucking no. It's been over a year and I'm still so annoyed that I can't fully articulate my thoughts on this.
With that said - I still don't think that these scenarios are the same because:
Nesta was not communicative. She cut her family off and was cruel when they tried to talk with her. She left them no choice but to force her into that conversation.
Nesta had a choice. She could have changed her behavior for the year or more that she was self-destructing. She should have changed her behavior, but instead Feyre and the IC enabled her. This is something I think the IC got wrong, enabling Nesta for so long.
Ostensibly, Nesta was taken out of one situation and put into another because her behavior was (supposedly) self-destructive. Whether she was actually self-destructive is another question based on what I said above, but the fact remains that Nesta was doing things that could have potentially harmed her.
And then in Feyre's situation:
Being in a romantic relationship puts different expectations on Feyre and Tamlin, than Feyre and Nesta had. Feyre was, for all intents and purposes, the Mom of the Archeron family and had that responsibility for years. Tamlin and Feyre were supposed to be partners, equals.
Feyre was openly communicative with Tamlin and told him what she needed. There was no reason for her to be distrusted or for her needs to be disregarded.
Feyre literally did not have a choice, she was physically locked in that house.
Tamlin locked Feyre in his house because of his own fear - it was not actually for Feyre's own good, it was 100% about Tamlin's need for control.
So yeah, if you look at the two situations, I can see how people might see both as:
I am doing this for your own good
BUT, in Feyre's case that was not true, she has all the High Lord's powers, she defeated Amarantha, she just wanted to be able to protect herself. Being locked in the Spring Court manor was in order to allay Tamlin's fears, not to actually protect Feyre.
Where with Nesta, there was actually potential harm to Nesta if they didn't step in. When they said "we are doing this for your own good", it was actually true in Nesta's case.
Again, if sjm had actually followed fucking through and shown the impact of alcoholism and substance abuse and we had seen the impact of those poor decisions on Nesta's wellbeing, then it would make much, much more sense how those two scenarios are different. Then it would be much easier for readers to understand why an intervention was necessary. I'm still annoyed as hell about how that was handled. But the intention between why Feyre and the IC did what they did, and why Tamlin did what he did, it's night and day. And I don't know how people don't see that, unless they try to argue that Nesta was doing just fine and dandy through the whole series and didn't need any sort of healing or help at all and it was totally fine for her to act the way she was.

Because i just stay in the really positive space of the whole fandom and don't engage in the anti tags mostly I have no idea why people hate Feyre. So can you please tell me why she gets hate? According to me, she deserves nothing less than pure happiness.
Honestly I'm not sure either? I don't actually check anti tags or anything, I just hear things from other people. 👀 I have two guesses about where Feyre hate comes from, based on things I’ve glanced at over time:
1. People think that if they like Nesta, they have to hate Feyre and Elain. Or people think that if they like Feyre, they have to hate Nesta and Elain. Or if they hate Elain... you know. I understand that the books pit the sisters against each other a lot, but the books also... intentionally show how that combative attitude is immature and inaccurate. In acotar, Feyre realized that Nesta did show caring in her own way. In acosf, Nesta realized that her sisters aren't ganging up against her and that they have been there for her, she just wasn't letting anyone close. Their reconciliation should be enough, but people still want to be mad about stuff that happened in their childhood, even though the characters themselves are over it and have made peace.
2. People dislike Rhys's actions in acosf (and maybe from earlier books) and that dislike is rubbing off on Feyre. This is my take on it. They see Rhys and Feyre as intensely privileged, which they are now, but Feyre came from struggle and everyone just forgot that I guess??
I've seen people make comments about how rich Feyre is now and how she's elitist and how she ignores the problems of the disadvantaged people in Velaris/the NC and... literally no? lmao???? She spends all of acofas feeling intensely guilty and uncomfortable with her wealth. To the point where after acofas came out, people were annoyed with her discomfort. They wanted her to stop whining about how much money she had. Even though that discomfort made sense given her childhood swinging back and forth from riches to poverty. It would be far, far worse if Feyre won the Prythian lottery in husbanding Rhys and then said "fuck y'all, where are the diamonds". She doesn't do that at all. She does the opposite, especially in acofas, and now in acosf she's had time to adjust to the lifestyle and we aren't in her head so we don't know if she is still having those thoughts.
Personally, I think this issue is way more about the structural inequality in the world than it is about Feyre. Feyre didn't create this wealth inequality, but she was working with Elain who was helping people garden to feed themselves, and she was working with children who were left orphaned or injured during acowar. We have tons of examples of her helping people throughout the series. Remember when she gave the water wraiths some jewelry so they could pay their tithes? And Tamlin was mad about that? And she tried to say "hey buddy, you're rich maybe give them a break"? Rhys is the one who keeps building them houses. It's not like Feyre's personality flipped a switch. The real issue is the society and Rhys.
Feyre hate is annoying to me because the woman did literally everything right all the time. I don't think that she could have given more of herself, and she freaking deserves a break and to stop being The Mom of the family because she was the youngest child and never deserved having that responsibility put on her shoulders. But she carried it, and she carried it well.

At the end of the day we all are just Eris Vanserra simps ;) .... If u don't mind me asking .... how many kids do u see Eris x Arina having ??
I have thought about this question so much because I have a spin off of Call It What You Want To that I mostly just write when nothing else feels fun or I'm stuck based on Ivy being heir to the Day Court and her issues with one of Tamlin's progeny (plus chaotic Nyx harassing Kallias' daughter).
And I think it would be one. Eris and Arina have one child. I think Eris, like all fae, want children but Eris is a man who is trying to do better than his father. So I imagine him as having his first (girl) and suddenly realizing the implications of more. Sons in Autumn tend to cannibalize not just each other but their father. I think Eris would want peace and a healthy family life and the risk of siblings would be a lot for him.
I also think that Eris is not big on being a dad the way like, Lucien or Cassian would be. I very much imagine Eris as like, not doing the baby talk thing. He talks to his baby like an adult because it's "good" for them, and they're getting policy lessons at 2 years old from daddy. He's active and busy and he's got his daughter and that's good for him.
Lastly, Eris watched his mother have six other children. I can only imagine the trauma of what LOA went through, seen through the eyes of a little boy. I would argue that Eris still carries that trauma and would not want his own wife to go through it, even if he would never hurt her, i think he'd have a lot of messy feelings about seeing her pregnant. Like he's excited and also terrified and he's having nightmares about his own mom and once he had his daughter, Eris would be like, we don't have to do that again.
But outwardly Eris would declare his daughter as proof he will live and reign forever, while Lucien boos from the back of the room.
