The Babylonians gave us calendars and breaking said calendar months into 3 months in 4 sections. Each 3 month section would be governed by a specific God. They also viewed regular astronomical occurrences as omens. A new moon arriving on a cloudy night could mean victory over an invading force.
There was also the Babylonian theory of astral medicine. We could consider the Babylonians the originators of the practise and how we eventually attributed certain zodiac signs and celestial bodies to be aligned with certain body parts.
It isn’t clear if the Babylonians actually utilized astral medicine or not as certain ingredients would be near impossible to obtain for a regular Babylonian. The calendar texts or the “kalendartexte” gives insight to how they would view astral medicine. They would consider certain days of the month being represented by certain zodiac signs.
