A Starless Clan: an idea!
----
I saw a post the other day saying something about Wind and how WindClan probably won't be important. So, I got to thinking..
I could have protags in every Clan! Now, It would get difficult but, how it might work: The book with the Clan name (ex. River) will have a RiverClan protag throughout the whole book. The protags from the other Clans will still be important characters and will be shown many times!
Possible protags for the books:
RiverClan -> Frostpaw
ThunderClan -> Nightheart
WindClan -> Whistlepaw
ShadowClan -> Spireclaw or Sunbeam
SkyClan -> Needleclaw?
Now of course that's just possible options, I'm gonna make OCs and they might take some of those cats places!
Two more ideas I thought of:
This arc will be more that six books, I don't know how long I'll make it at the moment. I feel like this arc shouldn't be wrapped up so quickly, maybe ten books? I might also do the same with other arcs, make them longer or shorter!
2. After the defeat of Splashtail, RiverClan is left leaderless yet again. No cat really steps up, so Mothwing does! Mothwing becomes leader!

An idea about Whistlepaw's naming cerenony
I've just thought about this so bare with me:
So I've been debating what Whistlepaw's full herbalist name should be... Until I had a devious little idea...
(this is a sort-of snippet?? This rewrite is still in the planning stages so um. things might change)
Whistlepaw was nervous, yet excited about FINALLY getting her full name. She had been waiting for what seemed like years.
Kestrelwing stands in front of her, announcing her new status as a full-herbalist to the spirits of the moors.
Kestrelwing looks proudly down at Whistlepaw, who had been fidgeting during the whole speech.
"Are you ready?" He whispers, his voice as gentle as the breeze.
Whistlepaw looks up at Kestrelwing, hesitating for a moment... before nodding. "Yes. I am."
Kestrelwing smiles. "Then you shall recieve your full-name as Whistlesong, named after your special connection with the spirits that whisper to you--"
"Actually," Whistlepaw surprisingly interrupts. "I... would like to pick my own suffix."
Kestrelwing widens his eyes, tipping his head. "...Okay, you have my permission." He finally says, intrigued.
Whistlepaw sighs, clearing her throat before finally pouring out all of the words she'd been wanting to say after that whole debacle...
"I... I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for me---for putting up with me, for letting me be your apprentice---and I know you've picked this name out since I trained under your wing... but after everything that has happened... I don't think I can have that as my name..."
Whistlepaw swallows, remembering her time in WindClan with her friend... Frostpaw. She remembers everything they've fought through, being by eachother's side... She can't just forget all of that.
She wants to remember it forever.
"...I'd like to change my name to Whistlefrost."
----------------------------------------------
So uh... That's my take on her ceremony !! I hope you like it, I've been trying to decide her name for WEEKS so uhhh. im happy

AWC: Prey (LT)
In the world of clan-life, cats need food; and the only way they can provide for their clanmates is by hunting down small animals.
In my rewrite, the clans have different unique ways of hunting, and they also have prey exclusive to their clan only. The only way to get clan-exclusive prey is by trading.
In here, I will be listing off all the different kinds of prey in the lake territories! A list for the forest territories will be made soon !! ^^
WindClan
1. Hares
2. Rabbits
3. Moor Grouse
4. Curlew
5. Lapwing
6. Voles
7. Mice
8. Adders & Lizards
ShadowClan
1. Frogs, toads, etc. etc. Basically any amphibian that isn't poisonous to cats.
2. Squirrels
3. Rats (rats aren't actually unhealthy; the ones from the forest territories are though, considering they mostly live in the carrionplace)
4. Grubs (ShadowClan cats aren't picky-eaters.)
5. Dead predators (ShadowClan cats aren't picky eaters.)
6. Lizards
7. Snakes & Adders
8. Turtles (rarely)
9. Snails (rarely; since they taste bad)
ThunderClan
1. Mice
2. Squirrels
3. Woodpeckers, Cardinals, Sparrows, Swallows, Robin, etc.
4. Cardinals
5. Chipmunks
6. Bats
7. Mallard ducks
RiverClan
1. Frogs
2. Carp, trout, salmon, perch, pike, and minnows.
3. Squirrels
4. Water voles
5. Mice
6. Turtles
7. Ducks
8. Lapwings & Plovers
9. Shrews (as well as Water shrews)
SkyClan (trees)
1. Squirrels
2. Chipmunks
3. Woodpeckers
4. Cardinals
5. Sparrows
6. Crows

in my waca rewrite all the Darkstars are merged into one character. Ion!Darkstar is a pretty influential leader, with them being half the founding force of Skyclan and having a pretty heavy impact on clan politics, with their leading style being notorious among cats even to this day.
Darkstar became leader at the tail-end of the first Sunningrocks War, which majorly destablized the relationship between the clans. Trade with Thunderclan and Shadowclan was severed, which sucks, as Riverclan didn’t have access to many resources the other clans did, namely garlic— a common fox repellent, and catmint. Catmint was especially important, as the wet conditions of Riverclan made diseases spread much faster.
Darkstar decided early on that they would have to mend the rift between clans by any means necessary. So, they created the Soft Paws, Sharp Claws (SpSc) system of leadership.
This leadership method was essentially Darkstar saying “Xenophobia is bad and if you do it get fucked.” They outlawed maiming/killing other cats for trespassing on Riverclan territory, allowed trade between Riverclan and it’s neighbours and heavily preached unity between clans. This is the Soft Paws part.
Riverclan cats who stepped out of line were heavily punished— ranging from shame-scarring (a ritualistic scar running down the front of the face) to full on exile for cats found to have committed murder. This is the Sharp Claws part.
Safe to say, a huge sect of Riverclan despised Darkstar, and the final straw was broken after the events of MV. When Mapleshade came to riverclan seeking refuge, Darkstar allowed her to stay until the storm cooled down, and allowed her safe passage through Riverclan. Before Darkstar’s rule, she would have been driven out and killed for 1) being a mate with a riverclan tom and 2) trespassing. When Mapleshade committed her mass murder afterwards, Riverclan cats turned on Darkstar, blaming them for leaving Mapleshade alive.
Darkstar was insurrected and chased out of Riverclan and went on to co-found Skyclan. This technically means Mapleshade was indirectly involved in the creation of Skyclan, whoops.
Darkstar went on to create the ‘leader’s word is law’ portion of the code and remained leader of Skyclan until their death.

i gotta say, i love the trope of a nervous person coming out of their shell because they're good at telling stories, because I think it speaks to us as writers.
like in most Warriors rewrites, Ravenpaw finds joy, and even confidence, in becoming a storyteller, and I think that's beautiful.

Main Story: Into the Wild (Part 2)
Tumblr media
In a deserted clearing, an old gray molly sat alone, staring up at the lone half-moon. The stars were murky as dark clouds drifted by, creating a gloomy fog of unease within her. From the shadows she could hear the faint sounds of breathing, soft and even as sleeping cats dreamed away the night without a clue as to her thoughts.
The camp was so still, that when a tortoiseshell cat did emerge from the darkness, the gray molly’s fur prickled with surprise. No words were exchanged between the two as the tortoiseshell settled beside her.
Tumblr media
The gray cat dipped her head in greeting. “How is Mousefur?” she softly asked.
“Her wounds are deep, Bluestar,” the tortoiseshell answered. “But she is strong; she’ll heal quickly.”
“And the others?”
“They’ll all recover too.”
Bluestar sighed, relief revealing itself in the way her head and shoulders fell. “We’re lucky to not have lost anyone this time. You are a gifted cleric, Spottedleaf.” Her blue eyes flicked up to the moon, straightening herself up. “I’m sorry you weren’t able to attend the half-moon meeting.”
Spottedleaf couldn’t help but purr in amusement. “It would’ve been an awkward and unusual one. I wouldn’t have been able to look at Mudfur with a straight face, now would I?”
Her attempt at a joke was met with silence from Bluestar. Spottedleaf’s face fell, the molly looking down at her paws before brushing her tail over Bluestar’s flank. “Bluestar?”
The gray molly shook her head. “I am deeply troubled by tonight’s defeat. ThunderClan has not been beaten in its own territory since I became leader,” she admitted, ears flattening. “These are difficult times for our Clan. The season of newleaf is late, and there have been fewer kits. ThunderClan needs more warriors if it is to survive.”
“But the year is only just beginning,” Spottedleaf pointed out, nudging her leader and offering her an assuring gaze. “There will be more kits when Greenleaf comes. There always are.”
Bluestar glanced back at her. Her dull expression seemed to brighten just faintly, and she’d sigh again. “Perhaps…” She smiled back at the tortoiseshell, thankful for her kind ear. “Training our young to become warriors takes time though.”
“I can only imagine you’re eager to make Graykit an apprentice then?” Spottedleaf purred playfully.
“Training will encourage him to listen for once, that’s for sure. He certainly didn’t get his father’s manners.” Bluestar couldn’t help but chuckle. Her ear twitched, a purr rumbling in her throat. Her weariness seemed to have eased, and she'd give a dip of her head to the cleric. “Thank you.”
Spottedleaf nodded back, before looking up at the dark sky. She tilted her head in thought, watching as another star was covered by the rolling clouds. “Are you asking StarClan for answers?”
Bluestar paused before nodding. “It is times like this that I’d be reassured by words from our ancient ancestors.” She narrowed her eyes and cast a glance at Spottedleaf. “Though I suppose you may have spoken to them had tonight not been interrupted.”
“Details, details,” Spottedleaf purred, flicking her tail dismissively before laughing. “StarClan hasn’t spoken to me in some moons, Bluestar. I wouldn’t…”
Suddenly, a shooting star blazed over the sky, Spottedleaf freezing as if time had stopped. The fur on her back bristled, and her amber eyes were wide, not daring to look away.
Bluestar’s ears pricked, but she remained silent as Spottedleaf continued to gaze upward.
Tumblr media
After a few moments, Spottedleaf hung her head low. Her eyes flicked back and forth, before she rapidly rose and turned to Bluestar. “It was a message-” she whispered breathlessly. “-from StarClan.” Spottedleaf’s gaze was unfocused, her pupils shaped like the full moon.
“Fire alone can save our Clan.”
“Fire?” Bluestar stared at Spottedleaf incredulously. “But fire is feared by all the Clans! How can it save us?”
“I do not know.” Spottedleaf’s voice was hollow, though as she shook her head, she blinked rapidly and seemed to regain some semblance of focus. “But… this is the message StarClan has chosen to share with me.”
A twisted feeling settled in Bluestar’s belly. She looked out into the dark woods, their endless unknowns taunting her with the secrets they held each and every day. Yet as she turned to look back at Spottedleaf, she’d nod with acceptance. “You’ve never been wrong before, Spottedleaf. If StarClan has spoken, then it must be so,” she meowed.
“Fire will save our Clan.”

ANOTHER POLL BC I AM CURIOUS AGAIN
arc 1-esque meaning they retain the original mysterious, benevolent, all-seeing aspects while doing very little to affect the clans aside from prophecies and omens, dreams, granting lives, and Gathering clouds.
evil meaning anything from being manipulative to straight up masterminding drama/conflict.

Goin into depth for a few of these.
Soon after arriving at the forest, the Forest colony splinters into two rivalling factions. The more religious side wants to settle on the open moor to have access to the open skies. (Communion with starclan shit.) The other side, used to living and hunting in the forest, wants to settle in the forested area. These sides split into The Moor Colony (TMC) and The Forest Colony. (TFC)
There are also structural differences between TMC and TFC that lead to the splinter. TMC wanted to use the Ancient’s method of governance, where the leader was also the spiritual guide. Wheras in TFC, the Leader and the Healer are two separate positions.
Later on, the portion of TMC bordering on the river decided to adopt the form of governance used by TFC, causing another split and creating The Plains Colony (TPC) and The River Colony (TRC)
Clans are renamed and the apprentice system is implemented, creating new ranks; Teacher, Warrior Apprentice, Medicine Cat Apprentice, Leader Apprentice (all clans excluding Plains/Windclan—Renamed to Deputy-In-Training before being phased out) and Sightseer Apprentice (plains/windclan only). The apprenticeship system introduced the idea of mentors and teachers, instead of having queens be responsible for the training of their kits.
The thunder-path is constructed directly through forestclan camp, and Forestclan is split. I don’t have a huge political reason why it splinters into two clans— so for now i’m saying the cats saw it as a prophecy that they needed to split.
The Thunder-River conflict begins, the conflict began as a few border skirmishes before escalating into a full on war. I can make a whole post about it separately, but to keep it short and sweet— it’s a complicated subject.
Two seperate mass exiles occur— the first one in Riverclan— where Darkstar is overthrown for taking in a Thunderclan cat, and the second—-where Skyfoot, along with the pacifists of thunderclan, are exiled. The two exiled groups wallow around in the forest for a bit before merging and forming Skyclan.

Longstar AU — Chapter Eight
“Longtail!” Cinderpath yowled from the medicine cat den. His head popped up, blood splattered around his muzzle from the prey at his paws. “He’s awake!”
He skidded to his paws, rushing toward the medicine cat den. He slipped inside, laying his eyes on his apprentice, his amber eyes open wide.
“Swiftpaw.. oh, StarClan,” Longtail brushed his muzzle against Swiftpaw's. “How do you feel?”
“Ugh.. sore,” Swiftpaw groaned, resting his head on his paws. He gazed at Longtail, “How’s Brightpaw..?”
“She’s Brightheart now,” Longtail replied. Firestar, recently named so, had renamed the she-cat the new name. Taking away the cruel one she was given. “And.. I’m.. I'm sorry, Swiftpaw. It’s my fault this happened.”
“It’s in no way your fault!” The tom rasped, “I chose to go. Brightheart chose to go. We got the result of what we did,” He placed his paw atop of Longtail's. “It’s not your fault, Longtail. Please, don’t blame yourself.”
   “.. Thank you,” He murmured.
“Swiftpaw.” Firestar's voice sounded from the entrance to the den, “It’s good to see your awake and doing well. How about that warrior ceremony, hm?” He cocked his head with a smile.
   “Of course!” Swiftpaw beamed.
“Help me get him out of the den, than,” Cinderpath flicked her tail toward Longtail, who nodded. Swiftpaw slowly rose to his three paws, leaning on Longtai's side. “Does it hurt?”
“A little bit,” Swiftpaw mewed, hissing in pain. “But it’s not too bad.”
“Hm. Good.” Cinderpath trotted out of the den, brushing past Firestar with a friendly smile. Firestar than turned, following his medicine cat out of the den. Longtail and Swiftpaw slowly padded out of the den, making their way into the clearing.
“Cats of ThunderClan!” Firestar yowled, the cats starting to pool below the rock. “This apprentice has worked and persevered for moons to make it to this ceremony. He has earned this more than any apprentice I’ve ever seen,” He smiled brightly. “Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect your clan even at the cost of your life?”
Swiftpaw stood proud, Longtail at his side. “I do.”
“Than by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name,” Firestar gazed down at him. “From now on this cat will be called by the name Swiftflame. StarClan honors your resilience and courage, and welcomes you as a full warrior of ThudnerClan.”
   “Swiftflame! Swiftflame!”
“Because of care advised by Cinderpath, you will not hold vigil tonight. But just know,” Firestar jumped from the high rock. “Holding a vigil or not does not make you any less of a warrior. And once you have fully healed, you will be one of our best, I know it.”
“I won’t let you down, Firestar.” Swiftflame gave a determined look to the leader, to which received a dip of the head.
“May StarClan guide you. Clan dismissed.” He ended. He touched his nose to the black and white toms head, “Cinderpath'll get you back to the den. For now, I’d like to speak with Longtail.”
Cinderpath padded up, leaning the tom on her side. Than, Firestar turned his green gaze on him.
“Is something wrong, Firestar?” Longtail questioned.
“Not at all,” Firestar brushed his tail across Longtail's back. “The exact opposite, actually. I’ve got a kittypet who wants to join the clan,” He mewed. “Of course, she’s allowed. But she'll need someone to show her the ways of hunting and fighting.”
“So.. you want me to mentor her?” Longtail meowed.
“Well, she’s around your age, so I wouldn’t call it mentor.” He twitched his whiskers, “But I would like you to teach her, if you could.”
“Of course I will,” Longtail flicked his tail.
“Good,” Firestar smiled. “Come with me and pick her up, then.”
“Oh, uh, now?” He flattened his ears.
“Yes, silly,” Firestar flicked his ears, hopping to his paws. “Now come on.”
Longtail shrugged, padding after the ginger ThunderClan leader. Within the blink of an eye, they appeared at the Twoleg place broder.
“Firestar! I was wondering when you'd show up,” A pretty white and gray she-cat smiled from the fence. “Oh? And who’s this? They look sort of beat up.” She cocked her head, gazing at Longtail with her soft yellow gaze.
“This is Longtail,” Firestar glanced at Longtail. “He’s one of my most skilled warriors.”
“Hm,” The she-cat hopped down from the fence, her fluffy fur brushing against the grass, “It’s nice to meet you, Longtail. What happened to your ears, huh?”
“.. A little scuffle,” He replied, narrowing his green eyes at the she-cat.
“I think they're kinda cool,” She shook out her fur, her bell jingling loudly around her neck.
“Uh, thanks? He flattened his ears.
“It’s a compliment.” She twitched her whiskers.
“I’m sure you two'll get along nicely,” Firestar rose to his paws. “Longtail's going to be training you.”
“Oh, this'll be fun, than.” She smiled, "Blizzard, by the way.”
“.. Nice to meet you, Blizzard.” Longtail murmured.
“Alright, let’s get that collar off and get back to camp.” Firestar padded over to her, sinking his teeth into the blue collar. With a few tugs, the collar popped off. The three cats turned into the forest, padding back towards camp.
“Ah, you must be Blizzard,” Whitestorm greeted with a dip of the head. “Whitestorm. I’m the clans deputy. It’s nice to meet you.”
Blizzard dipped her head back, “You too.”
“Mind staying for the ceremony, Whitestorm?” Firestar meowed, “Than you can take your patrol out.”
“Of course, Firestar,” The tom turned back into camp, flicking his tail to the rest of his patrol. He hopped up on his spot on the High Rock, Firestar swiftly following.
“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the High Rock for a clan meeting!”
“Over there,” Longtail whispered to the she-cat, gesturing with his lengthy tail to the middle of the clearing.
“Thanks.” She mewed softly, brushing her tail across his side. The white she-cat padded over to the middle of the clearing, settling down under the High Rock.
“This cat has requested to join our clan,” Firestar gazed down at her. “And under the eyes of StarClan, I have allowed it. She will be taught the ways of our clan by Longtail,” He turned his gaze on him. “He is a trusted, loyal warrior of this clan. I could think of no better cat.” He gave a soft smile, turning back to the clan. “She will be known as Blizzardspots.”
“Blizzardspots! Blizzardspots!” The clan cheered, though quieter than usual.
“Clan dismissed,” He jumped off the High Rock, joining up with Graystripe outside the nursery. The two, along with Sandstorm, had recently become mates.
“So, what are we doing, teach?” Blizzardspots turned to him, her yellow eyes blazing with excitement.
“I suppose we could go out hunting,” He meowed softly. “Have you ever hunted before?”
“Nope!” She mewed enthusiastically, despite her words. Blizzardspots twitched her tail with excitement, “Race you!”

Things I will prioritize in the Ion Rewrite
Expanding on the clan’s belief system, starclan, the warrior code and their general laws.
Giving clans their own cultures, celebrations and customs.
Expanding on clan folklore and mythology
Further differentiating clans into separate entities, drafting laws for each individual clan and giving clans different forms of governance
Making my ships canon :3
Making characters not boring
Lots and lots of self-indulgent shit
