In the Land of Tiny Books
Our Head of Special Collections Max Yela has collaborated for decades with Milwaukee artist and art professor at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD) Leslie Fedorchuk (on the left in the first image; Max is on the right). This semester, Leslie is teaching a MIAD course called "Magical Miniatures" and she brought her class over for a discussion and review of artists books that use small scale as expression.
While Max is not very fond of miniatures or the miniaturization of books, he does like books that are small for compositional reasons. In fact, one of his favorite artists books, In Here Out There (third image) by the late Minnesota artist Jody Williams, is quite small (5 x 7 cm). Since we hold about 95% of Jody Williams's work and about 90% of the small editioned work of Peter & Donna Thomas, after a discussion, the class spent time reviewing selected works by these artists, plus about a dozen others by local book artists.
This was the first time these art students, many of them Juniors and Seniors, had ever encountered artists books before, and all expressed that it was a transformative experience. We look forward to seeing some of the book work that comes out of the assignments for this class!

As the half Israelie I'm not just ashamed, but also feel responsible for the attrocities Israel does to Palestinians. And not just the current situation, but since the start of Nakba in 1948. This is beyond massacre, it's another catastrophe that Palestinians experiences. And yeah, I'm also shameful that Israelies would block the track and litterly cheering on the innocent death of people.
I do also boycott products that support Israel and I even start educating myself about Palestine. Plus I also watch news and I share/talk with a few online friends about it. So as a half Israelie I do support Palestine and once I'm able to afford to live somewhere else, I plan to get out of from Israhell.
I understand even the working class (slavery class) is oppressed majorly under the israel nazi fascist zionist dictatorship/regime, which 99.9% of humans on earth are oppressed by fascist nazi capitalist control systems, and not all israelis are to blame for whats happening in Palestine as many of us understand the Israhell government would assassinate people in israel trying to stand in support of Palestine. Solidarity and keep fighting, fascists have no right to exist on earth. Peace 🚩🏴

I like to think there’s some sort of magical council in Trolberg, where representatives from all the main forms of magical creatures and practitioners come together to discuss how things are going and work out any disagreements going on between them.
And since I’m pretty sure there’s no other fae in Trolberg, I think that leaves Johanna as the fairy representative and that is SO funny

Polling data on Roe finds that Americans support the 1973 ruling by a ratio of two-to-one; just 28 percent of the voting public want it struck down. You can also tell because some of the Supreme Court justices who signed on to the majority draft have been greeted by protestors outside their house for the past two weeks. Republicans, who spent the past year defending the Jan. 6 insurrection as “tourism,” and some Democrats, who never miss a chance to scold the activist wing of their own party, have handled this with typical aplomb. I’d guess privacy sounds fine right about now.
On an unrelated note, here’s the Gawker Review of Supreme Court Justice Houses.
