Hello tumblr! (Writblr intro)

Finally chalked up the effort to really started to working on my tumblr account. Feel free to call me sol or nm short- I don't really mind ^^.

I am a young adult interested in fiction and art-huh duh. I'm more of hoarder of things that set my little heart wild- and theres alot that does. Because of that my mind is abit cluttered and I haven't really done much to really de-cluttter it till now. I suppose this tumblr in some ways is my loveletter to writing, art and I guess the world-childish as that is.

In terms of writing, I'm aiming for that speculative fiction and fantasy vibe. I swear I'll post more about what I'm actually working on in weeks to come though I'm not fluent in tumblr just yet. If my little journey sounds like something fun, by all means feel free to stay for a little longer.

As a reader, I love my fantasy, Robin Hobb and V.E.Schwab have grown to be my fond favourites. But 'Deltora' and 'Keys to kingdom' will always be living in the back of my mind rent free.

In terms of food? I am a tiramisu and fried anchovies lover- but food do life-livin material.

My favourite colours are pastel dark greens and salmon pinks!!

I do like anime with some of my notable favourites being 'Kids on the slope', 'Magi: The labyrinth of magic', 'Tsurune' and most of 'Violet Evergarden' to name a few. In terms of manga? '+Anima', 'Blue Period', 'Way of the household husband' and'Witch Hat Atelier.'

In terms of webnovels, mxtxx's capacity to write rather captivating and wholesome cultivation stories really speaks to me- the dynamics are just REALLY good. In terms of webcomics 'Spirit fingers' and 'Return of the blossoming blade' are two series I really dig. This list could probably go on, and I am keen on maybe posting up my thoughts on particular series I read or watch.

Spy x Family Review!

Hello, and welcome back to a new anime review! Today, I'm reviewing the 2022 phenomenon: Spy x Family!

Well, let's cut to the chase: this anime's freaking amazing. This way, it's clear from the get-go. To introduce it a little, Spy x Family is an action/comedy anime that has begun airing this year. The second part will begin to air in October, so really soon!

You've probably heard of this anime, as its adaptation from the manga made for a ton of hype. And honestly, it is 100,000% deserved. I expected much, and I got just that, and then some. I am still beyond impressed, honestly.

Now, just like every popular anime out there, it has its fair share of haters. I'll say something I first said in my Black Clover review: if you think this sucks, you must have godly standards. If you do, please make your own anime because none will ever satisfy you.

Don't get me wrong, I understand criticism, but I've seen many people say this anime's trash without even bothering to argue, and I think that's pretty sad. Anyway, back to the review!

This anime scores many points in the originality department. After all, the ideas behind the plot and characters are extremely clever and they immediately won me over. Executing things well is important, but being original is, too!

The plot, as I said, is original, but remains easy to understand. It helps to make it wholesome and adorable, but that doesn't mean the story is dumb! It's well-crafted and balanced to perfection. You'll laugh, smile, sometimes frown, and maybe even cry, too!

Another thing I would like to point out about the plot is that it's both serious (with parallels I would draw to Violet Evergarden) and fun (with parallels I would draw to Fruits Basket in that regard). That's not an easy thing to do at all!

Moving on, the characters in this anime are great. I won't even mention the main trio into too much detail, since they're flat-out amazing. They have the most perfect dynamic I've seen in anime so far, and their designs are just... OMG. I love them!

Even the side cast is really solid! They have fun personalities and quirks, and except for a single character, all of them have a true positive impact! But yeah, no anime's perfect, so one character is a little... suspicious, let's just say.

Well, only twelve episodes have released so far in this first part, so character development isn't much of a thing for now, but seeing the dynamics really settle in has made me smile all throughout. I am so looking forward to seeing how the characters evolve in the future!

I know some say the dynamics are pretty cliché, but I disagree with that. Sure, the tropes used aren't new (i.e. pretend family), but they're executed with enough twists to make them original. And besides, old doesn't mean bad!

Visually, this anime looks great, no doubt. It's above-average for 2020s standards, and the animation is excellent and very fluid. The few action scenes in these first twelve episodes were nicely animated, too.

The opening is colorful, to say the least, and pretty. In general, Spy x Family has some great music, with a variety of themes for each situation.

Overall, I can only tell you to please watch this anime. If you like action, there's some! If you like comedy, there's some! If you like romance, there's technically some, too! This first part is wonderful, and I loved watching it more than you can think.

If you're in a bad mood, it's certain to make you smile and giggle. If you're already in a good mood, it'll make it even better! It's adorable, cute, funny, wholesome, and all that. Please, please, do not miss out, I'm begging you.

Today is the day of love. And love can come in all forms, parental love, friendship love, romantic love etc. In lieu of today’s Valentine’s Day, I will be doing a cluster review of the anime that has the romance theme.

There may be some 🚨SPOILERS🚨 involved.

1️⃣ Horimiya

Horimiya is about this guy (right), Izumi, who got pulled out of the invisibility veil of his classroom by a popular classmate, Hori.

Well... technically, they met under the circumstance where Izumi had to escort Hori’s younger brother home. From there, a friendship blossomed and Hori and Izumi became very close to the point they were dating.

I would say that this anime is one of those very cozy anime, where you can snuggle in your blanket at the corner of your room and watch it. It often gives you the warmth and affection feelings of a family throughout the series.

But I would admit, like any slice-of-life genre, it can get a bit boring... Usually, this kind of genre is always accompanied with the humour genre, but most of the jokes in this anime wasn’t as funny as I hoped it would be. The only one that I found absolute hilarious was the confession scene Yuki received.

Other than that, it is quite a cozy romance anime you can consider putting in your next watchlist.

Rating: 8⭐/10

TLDR: Cozy romance anime to snuggle up to but may be a bit dry.

2️⃣ Kimi no Todoke

Another anime that is quite similar (in the synopsis) to the previous entry is Kimi ni Todoke. The story tells of a girl, Sawako, whose life got turned around after meeting the class popular guy, Kazehaya.

The reason why Sawako was shunned had to do with the fact that she gave off a very awkward and misunderstood scary aura. Many of her schoolmates attributed her to the famous Japanese horror film character, Sadako. But after consistently bumping into Kazehaya and received a pep talk from him, she gained enough confidence to approach others and took initiative to befriend them.

I may be biased on this anime because Sawako’s school life prior to meeting Kazehaya was something I deeply resonated with. I would recommend people to watch this anime to understand how difficult it was to survive by yourself with no other friends.

Rating: 9⭐/10

TLDR: A wholesome anime where you may constantly be rooting for the protagonist of the story throughout the seasons.

3️⃣ Violet Evergarden

The story revolves around a girl, Violet, who struggles to fit into society and learn about the meaning of the emotion, love. Throughout the series, you will follow Violet on her journey as she meet others and seeking answers for herself.

That’s really all I can say. And.. if you really want to watch this anime, you may need to go to the supermarket and empty out the shelves of tissues, because every single episode is going to make you bawl like a baby.

No, I am not joking.

Really.

Rating: 10⭐/10

I am not rating it that simply because I want you guys to watch it. It is really an excellent anime to watch in my opinion.

TLDR: GET TISSUES! ALL OF THEM!

4️⃣ Kaguya-sama: Love Is War!

This anime is no brainer to be on this cluster list because it is literally about romance.

The romance is actually between Miyuki, the president of the student council, and Kaguya, the vice-president of the student council. It has been a long time since I last watched this anime, hence, I am not entirely sure what happened.

But I remember that both Miyuki and Kaguya are secretly in love with each other but they refused to confess their feelings to each other first. To them, the first person to confess lose this some invisible game they are unconsciously playing.

I have yet to watch the second season, and any others after the first season if there is, but I do hope that I would be able to catch it soon before I get too overwhelmed by my ever-growing list of things to catch up on.

But, honestly, it can get a bit annoying from time to time...

Rating: 7⭐/10

TLDR: Fun to watch the two protagonist hide their feelings for each other but it can get a bit annoying after a while...

Ahh, yes!! Secretly hoped someone would ask this because I just love talking about anime, so I’ll give my top 5!

Violet Evergarden. I’m a shonen fan, and like this show’s premise isn’t my normal cup of tea, but god do I love this show so freaking much. And the second movie. God, it was such the perfect end to the series. Like this show just hits you in all the feels and there’s no questions here about it being my favorite. I’ve never cried so much before, but it also just leaves you all warm and fuzzy too. I recommend it all the time and people will be like, yeah, I wasn’t a fan, and I’m like, you didn’t finish it did you, and they were like, no. And that’s why. The composer for the anime has literally been in my top five artists on Spotify the past two years.

Hunter x Hunter. The Phantom Troupe, I love them. And yeah, I love the story and it’s fun, but The Phantom Troupe is what makes it for me. Well, that and Hisoka. I love my chaotic and edgy characters. (I’ve actually been writing a hisoka x reader/chrollo x reader fic for like a year now and might start posting it here soon. Been into instrumentals lately for music again, and it’s been feeding my Chrollo fascination. Like I really want to write for this man right now) also, departure was my #1 most listened to song this year and I was surprised. Didn’t realize I listened to it that much.

Jujutsu Kaisen. This and HxH are a little interchangeable, just depends on my mood. But god, I love it. Like, the characters are all soo good. Finding decent female characters in anime can sometimes be hard, probably cause I watch a lot of shonen, but still, women are so much more than fan service. But this show. Like, such strong characters and I freaking love Maki. I’ve also wrote a little of a gojo x reader/geto x reader, but it’s probably not reached the point where I can start posting anytime soon. Also, Lost in Paradise is soooo good. In my top 5 songs of the year as well.

Death Parade. Guys, this anime freaking broke me. Of all the animes I’ve watched, this and Violet Evergarden just hit me in the feels. It does deal with the topic of suicide (as it’s a show about death) so be warned if that’s something you struggle with! I definitely struggled the first time and i legit just kind of laid there for hours after completing, but god, is it so good. That and Flyers is also a bop. Best anime intro and nothing will ever beat it for me. But be warned, that intro is the most deceiving intro you will ever watch for a show.

Spy x Family. This show is just so cute. Like, I’ve never giggled or laughed as much in an anime before. It’s just so wholesome and cute and I absolutely live for it. All I need is for yor and loid to fall in love and I will die happy.

Attack on Titan (will hurt you emotionally but is the best story ever written imo)

My Hero Academia (has EVERYTHING. Period.)

Demon Slayer (STUNNING but can be creepy for some)

Jujutsu Kaisen (AMAZING but can be gross)

Haikyuu!! (just volleyball bois having fun!!)

Spy x Family (hilarious and wholesome)

Violet Evergarden (YOU WILL CRY but it’s worth it. Also stunning)

Komi Can’t Communicate (enjoyable to those who relate to it, boring to those who don’t have social anxiety - also incredibly wholesome and funny)

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K (HILARIOUS and all round good times)

Fruits Basket (emotionally hard hitting but has some of the best characters ever)

Hi there,

Yeah, I'm genuinely drawn toward the more dramatic and tragic, for sure. I just like stories that have a lot of substance and character depth. But certainly there's some anime's I love that aren't tragedies. I love "Yuri! on Ice", which is one of my favorites, which definitely is on the more positive side. I watched "Sk8te the Infinity" not too long ago, which was fun too. I also love action anime's like "Vampire Hunter D", "Hellsing" and "Psycho-Pass", "Ninja Scroll" etc... I was really into "Dragon Ball Z" for a long time, haha. I loved "Violet Evergarden", even though that could be classified as a tragedy too, with a happy ending of course. I really like Studio Gibli's stuff, and films like "Weathering with You" and "Your Name". "The Garden of Words" as well. I know there's a lot of controversy surrounding "Rurouni Kenshin", but if you ever want to see one of the best anime films of all time "Trust and Betrayal" is an incredible work of art. Another tragedy, but it's an incredibly beautiful film. In general, I'm definitely more drawn toward dramatic and heavy stories, but there's some more light-hearted stuff I like as well.

Oh thanks for the recommendation, I'll def watch Violet now 💕 if you ever want to start jibaku shounen hanako-kun I would highly recommend reading the manga instead!! The anime is fine but it changes the order of some arcs and it's way too short lol

Hmmm, I'll try to answer that question as best as I can. There are certain characters that I simply find cute or endearing (like Nene or Yamaguchi from Haikyuu, who I think I forgot to mention last time). But when it comes to others I just think it has to do with a good balance of good traits and flaws. I tend to gravitate towards characters who are wholesome but also have much more to give if you see through them!

Alphonse for example (feeling obligated to mention him as he is my literal url) is a kind hearted and loyal kid, but he also has many fears, insecurities and even selfish moments throughout the show. I don't know if you watched/read FMA so I'm trying not to say anything with spoilers :p There's a couple scenes of him that never fail to pull my heartstrings, he's just very well written overall

Talking about shounen, I also like shounen protags that subvert expectations. Gon is a cute adventurous child at first sight but the more you advance with the plot the more you notice some serious flaws that make him so fascinatingly complex!! He's just a little fucked up and I love him for that.

There's also Rin Okumura, a character I've loved for so long (+10 years) that it's difficult to explain why. He also looks like a typical shounen protag at the start but he's also such a ray of sunshine and a brat at the same time! He deeply cares about his loved ones and goes through so much development. A greatly written teen character overall :')

About Violet Evergarden

First of all, I thought it was Violet Evergreen, so I'm going to use green for the title:)

In all honesty, the genres aren't really my cup of tea for an anime. Nevertheless, Violet Evergarden is still one of the most beautiful anime I've ever seen. I'm not talking about the visual (though they're also very pretty, so does Violet herself and literally everyone in there), but related to the story, the innocence of finding the true meaning of something, a long journey of understanding the beauty of emotions and the purpose of life. It feels calm and creates that nature-like-sensation (a bit random, ik). Also love that Violet got an amazing character development.

It's not just about Violet that is beautiful, but all those mini stories are just as heartwarming as everything else. They're not entirely original but they're not repetitive, they always give a new refreshing plot. Absolutely wholesome, the emotions displayed are too sincere and pure I couldn't even come up with a word to describe what I felt with all of them. Both Violet and all her costumers are catalyst to each other, it's not just about Violet, not just about Ann or the Princess or Oscar, but it's about everything, about everyone's journey to accept and find a new purpose.

Such a great series. Violet Evergarden is one series everybody needs to watch to remind us great things about love and live at least once in our lifes.
