I was looking through my books the other day & I realized just how much my reading taste has changed. I used to not like classic books or even books that didn’t resemble the Dear Dumb Diary series or Dork Diaries. All the things my little middle school self loved. • • Then I got to high school & they forced me to read all different kinds of books. The second I heard the titles I knew I would hate them. But surprisingly they became one of my favorite books ever😩. • • I can literally re-read all of these hundreds of times and still love them all the same. • • Don’t greet me wrong I still love Dear Dumb Diary, but I’m also not afraid to admit that I enjoy more mature books that discuss real life issues. I didn’t include Behold The Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue because I can’t find it :(. When I said I don't like reading non-fiction, I meant the cliched ones. I've grown reading all kinds of essays and theories by various intellectuals and essayists and writers and theorists and etc. I've always admired the profundity they provide which makes me question not only the society or history or near future but also them! . . I remember reading theories and psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud and questioning almost everything he had to say; which Beauvoir also diligently questions in her book along with stating her argument. About Morrison, y'all must have seen my stories on how thoughtful her Nobel lecture on Literature was. . . Yet another book by Murakami! ⁣ 🍂« South of the Border West of the Sun » 🍂⁣ ⁣ One of the less weird stories written by Murakami. It’s all human, no more magical realism or cat stories, but still, very enjoyable and well written!
