Today, I had a dream where I've turned on so many U-matic, Betacam and DVCPRO VTRs to have fun with them, whether it's digitizing or recording.

So, when I was having fun with these VTRs, Stephen Spielberg suddenly appeared at the door of the room. He talked to me that all filmmakers, actors, and any profession related to filmmaking, most follow philosophes and advices of film production. The art and entertainment industry is highly competitive, with multiple creative works and related companies vying for attention, though this may be relatively easy for new and smaller companies to compete with established players.

When Spielberg left the room, Lizzy, Doll, Rebecca, Thad and Cyn from Murder Drones suddenly appeared next to the media desk while I was digitizing U-matic, Betacam and DVCPRO video tapes. They were seeing everything on the room, ranging from vintage stuff to modern stuff.

VTRs are devices that were aimed at professional market that wouldn't be relevant to the average consumer. Also, the video tape format families U-matic and Betacam, and the DVCPRO format are made for professionals rather than average consumer.

The team looked on in horror as Kyle clicked the link that had come from an anonymous email. James was on the screen. He were tied to a chair and covered in blood, his head hanging low.

Dexter stalked on screen and fisted James’ hair, lifting his head so he could stare directly into the camera. One of James’ eyes was swollen shut. He had a freely bleeding cut on one cheek and above his eyebrow. Blood had dried beneath his nostrils and on his lips.

Lily gasped as they took in James’ wounds. Max’s jaw clenched. “Is this live?”

“I think so,” Kyle replied, eyes never leaving the screen.

“Go on, say it, like we agreed,” Dexter said as he bowed James’ head back further.

James’ chest was heaving and his body tensed with the movement. “It.” James chuckled darkly as Dexter’s face controted with rage.

With a roar, Dexter punched James in the face twice, drawing more blood from James’ bleeding nose. “THAT IS NOT FUNNY! TELL YOUR TEAM TO COME FIND YOU! TELL THEM!”

James’ eyes dropped as he looked directly in the camera. “Whatever you do, team, don’t come for me.”

Dexter screeched with rage, but James kept going. “Forget about me. Leave me. It’s ok. I--” his words were cut off suddenly as Dexter began to attack him.

“Can’t we trace this?” Lily whispered as she watched Dexter beat James mercilessly.

Before Kyle could reply, the camera panned away from the scene and onto a new person. Whoever had been holding the camera had flipped it. “You better come quick,” he whispered, “Dexter doesn’t take well to being defied. Come get your friend.” And the screen went black.

Not sure if this is a Welcome Home theory or just something I've noticed but here are my thoughts about the video tapes in particular

The first thing (or 50 things slammed into one)

These tapes are obviously recordings of a single day, as Barnaby references multiple tapes as happening 'today' in the 14th tape when talking to Home. This has to mean the day is special in some way, whether something happened or Wally has become sentient. It's always a possibility this is only day one and future updates will have tapes happening after the initial 14. Or maybe this has been happening before and this is only one day of many.

What I believe is the important is what happened for them to be recorded. Has Wally become sentient? Does he have cameras in his eyes? Or is it the actors playing him at that moment that is important?

I was thinking more about the actors themselves (I don't know if I believe this to be the case, just something I thought of). In puppetry it is usually the case that you will have a few people working on a puppet, for Wally, who is a fairly small puppet it could be possible it is only one person. And then you'll have the voice actor recording the lines. From what I know it's not often (if at all) that you will have the voice of the character be the puppeteer. My thought with this is that the actor is the one recording, or somehow the conscience of the actor and puppet have someway become intertwined (but that would require much more thought put into it and I don't know if there's much evidence to support that, and there's even evidence pointing towards the show never actually happening).

However, it could absolutely be the case that these characters exist in their own realm and what we see in the recordings are not the episodes of the show. Because if these are scenes from episodes then Wally being completely still makes no sense if he is to be on screen, especially that he's portrayed as the character that interacts with the audience Dora the Explorer style. (With this you could also read it in a Toy Story way where the puppets live their own life on set as if in a town and are only controlled when the show is filmed, but that seems too cliche.)

The second thing

Pretty much nobody during these tapes questions Wally's silence. At the end of each tape they ask him something, but none of them are in a "omg, how did Wally get here", so they're obviously aware, they just do not speak to him prior. This may be due to being preoccupied with the conversation or what I think is that this isn't unusual behaviour for him.

In the recordings on the website itself, Wally is clearly more monotone and doesn't speak that much. Plus, he seems quite confused. (I've seen many theories and headcanons as to why and I have my own but they're not important at the moment.) So him basically zoning out like in the tapes may not shock them.

And in tape 5, Eddie, for most of it, speaks to Wally because you can't hear the creeks of Home like in tape 14, so I don't think he talks to Home. Eddie quite comfortably carries a one-way conversation without being stilted in it by Wally's silence. Most people would be quite put off if you start a conversation with them and you don't speak when this isn't something you did before.

This is why I don't think that Wally zoning out in these tapes is what shows his sentience or is what is 'weird' about the videos. What I think is important about the tapes is that they are RECORDED and seem to be recorded from Wally's point of view. As well as why they are titled 'answer'. And how the other's interact and why it glitches when Wally's name is being said.

The third thing

Is actually Barnaby. In the tapes he is the only one that seems to try to directly interact with Wally throughout the tape. Except Eddie in the fifth one of course. But Barnaby expects Wally to respond to him, for example he asks him questions in tape 11, the one where he makes fun of Julie's jokes.

And of course there's tape 14, where Barnaby directly questions why Wally has stopped painting and why he is not responding. The other characters have never questioned Wally's unmoving. This prompts me to think there is something more special about Barnaby, he is said to be Wally's best friend, this might be why he notices more. Maybe he is the next, after Wally to become 'sentient' or realise there is something up

i'm just saying I think it's more interesting if exile alien bea has an x amount of time to live and grapples with is it worth living was my life worthy of life? meets ava who is need of a host (because halo is very unstable) and doesn't know how to stop running and they smooch and fall in love and bea is like take my body as a host, you are full of love and you have taught me love and I want my love to continue to live through you and my body will be able to sustain your host so take me on adventures and show me the world that I never got to see and live through. Make me love the world through your eyes so I may possess a fraction of your love for the world that has failed me. And then bea dies and ava does that and that's the end

but i hate sad endings and cannot be what I sought to destroy.

#and yes i'm still holding on to that fucking one shot I read on tik tok #the one where the astronaut gets stranded on the moon and records video recordings and one day they meet an alien that's pretty harmless an #they chit chat become friends and then eventually the astronaut dies because not enough food and the alien takes their body to earth and #lives out the rest of their lives on earth because they spent so long yearning for the earth and the last recorded tape that the astronaut #has for them is live your life #and I can't fucking find it #but manga one shots go so fucking hard for no reason #I can't write sad endings #that such a cop out to me personally #i need gay people to be GAY #i refuse to write something sad without a happy ending #that's my toxic trait #but this story is so much more fucking compelling than the outline i have right now #and I don't think I should rewrite this story for the 3rd time #i'm gonna go insane #!!!!!!!!!!#avatrice #that should've could've been #but i can't sit still to write anything

was gonna record a video but got too frustrated with how shitty the camera on my (new!!) phone is :( i s2g it's even worse than my old phone (which wasnt great in the first place) even though i think its the same series (not sure if its exactly the same bc the motos are named weirdly)

it doesnt even let me zoom on the selfie cam??? i downloaded a 3rd party camera app that had digital zoom but it looks even worse than just filming un-zoomed and cropping it (which, to be clear, looks pretty bad)

well that's what i get for insisting on getting a phone with a headphone jack i guess
