i didnt really like the last scene of Primal (s2) but thematically it makes perfect sense and i can't be mad at it. Primal, besides being a visual delight of cartoonized gore & character design, is a story about the continuation of life. The second season could not make it more clear, with the emphasis put on the egg-laying scene, managing to imbue the long close-up of a cloaca with a sense of poetic wonder; and even more so, with the darwin episode, in which charles darwin explains primal theory before getting to play action hero. (this episode was honestly so shameless about having fun; it's a gem). This episode being the only one with dialogue that most of the audience would understand, as well as the only one breaking away from the main story, highlights its importance and makes it almost a demonstration of the series as a whole: one that openly chucks historical accuracy to the side to play with the concept of violence as a means of survival. what it doesn't mention, however, is the subsidiary theme of the importance of "family", aka the group one belongs to. It shines through with the main duo, and of course with the subplots of the giant and the vikings. With all this in mind, I can't argue against the thematic coherence and near necessity of the final sex scene--i may not have liked it, but it fits in with the narrative. As the caveman slowly dies from the wounds inflicted by the only being that could beat him (a godlike avenger), mira gazes at his paintings and gets a sense of his loneliness. They have travelled far together and while she may have found her village again, her previous lover is long dead. In many ways, they belong to one another and are "family" already (with the lizards too, of course). It's true that the scene, while quick, does not shy away in a classic fade-to-black--i'd call it off-puttingly intimate--but the series is very adult; it spreads intestines over just about every episode. And most of all, it's not grotesque or ridiculous--it's a tender rekindling of hope, symbolized by the dinosaur-riding daughter in the last images.

hey so i'm not making a DNI because i don't want to (i initially had a longer attempt at articulating a reason and then i realized i don't have to explain more than "i don't want to") but the past few blogs that have followed me are very harry pottter focused and given the actions and rhetoric of jk rowling i'd appreciate it if any blogs who prominently post harry potter themed content would kindly refrain from following me.
you can probably still reblog my posts, not bc of my moral stance but bc honestly i don't really notice who reblogs from me unless they have a huge red flag in their url, but in terms of following my blog i'd prefer it if harry potter bloggers could just not
and i know there's always the excuse of separating the art from the artist (like people who continue to post about harry potter but end every post with "fuck jkr tho"), and not everyone even knows why jkr is a horrible person bc a lot of the discussion is very online (that's the reason this is worded so empathetically, i'm assuming harry potter fans who follow me are in either of these two camps but if you're just an outright terf then go fuck yourself of course). but even if you're entirely dedicated to balancing every harry potter post with a post about hating terfs, the fact that harry potter is still being promoted in a way that's uncritical of the content itself makes me uncomfortable and by making the harry potter brand maintain relevance that's still supporting jkr no matter how many times you put "fuck terfs" on your blog
disagree with me if you want bc i can't control whether people post about one of the largest fandoms in history, but i can make a statement being like "hey if you follow me and your most recent posts are all harry potter gifsets i will be blocking you so honestly for your own convenience please don't put in the effort of following me"

imma open up a bit, something i havent really done in a while
i think its kinda funny that im like schrodingers neurodivergent
i have a diagnosis of ocd, but that isnt the reason i have been labeles as neurodivergent
its actually that i have achieve levels of isolation, self imposed by myself, to the point that im just build like that, ya know?
my therapist frequently tries to reassure me that “im not behind mentally” to others, its just that i have avoided socializing to the point that in a bit of a weirdo
i really, REALLY try to be sincere and open with her, but i am way to scared of getting a bad note in being normal, which is something thats both possible to get, and logical to be afraid of
so she only knows the version of me that i compulsively build as to not make her upset, but she will never meet the version of me that is kinda allergic to living in a society
again, all this weirdness abd neurodivergency, it twas not caused mainly by the disorders, but by my own self imposed inner morality laws and isolation from others
i am perfectly capable of befriending people, i just am allergic to having normal relationships because i have build si many walls i have not aquired the skills i need for my age
its funny to me

hi, hope you’re having a womdering day!
is it ok to have jack the ripper, beelzebub and hermes with a tsundere reader (i hate everyone but you kinda thing) that is also very motherly towards them? if that’s ok?
thank you for your hard work. 🖤
I hope you have a good day too!! I hope you like it^^
off topic but I was listening to Last Night in Soho soundtrack while writing this, which is completely unrelated hahahah, 10/10 would recommend that movie tho, I liked it a lot
Tumblr media
Jack is good at recognising people's true natue trough the colours they emanate, so when he once saw you answering rudely to an acquaintance of yours, he was quite confused. There was a clear dissonance between your colour and the way you were acting which intrigued him. Despite how hard it was, he managed, trough his gentleman-like ways, to get you act friendly - even though he was the only one you changed your attitude towards. It was a huge step forward anyway. But the way you behaved when you were with him... it was something never believed he could experience himself. He had heard tales about love, which he stopped believing in after his own mother had betrayed him, but you made him reconsider his beliefs. You were protective of him, showing in your own way your affection. It had some motherly traits too, a reminescence of his childhood, of that apparent love he received from his mother. Yours was genuine though, there was something so innocent in the way you'd caress his head that he would never believe it could be false. The same colour you would towards him only was of the purest shade he had ever seen.
Tumblr media
Beelzebub is used to everyone hate nobody but him - so it's quite surprising when you do the exact opposite. He doesn't know how to react at first, are you perhaps trying to use him for some obscure reason? He can't quite grasp it. Yet, somehow, it really looks like you took a liking to him. You don't reply annoyed when he is the one to speak - and actually listen to what he has to say - you ask him how he is and other chit chat, which was unusual of you, and would often seek him out. At first he doesn't really know how to behave: should he act like he does towards anybody else or try to be more friendly too? In the end, despite his first attempt to keep you at a distance, he realised that, after all, he missed someone looking after him. At first, things weren't always easy and sometimes you both would end up snapping at each other - but going back to being on good terms immediately after. Most of the time though, everything went smooth, with you complaining about everything but him. It kinda pleased him. You couldn't tell, since Beelzebub would always mantain the same apathetic expression, but he really was glad to have someone so attached to him. In particular, there were those moments when you would just sit beside him, maybe your head leaning on his shoulder, mostly in silent, sometimes speaking some gentle words, which he loved the most. It made him feel so nostalgic, but loved it anyway.
Tumblr media
Hermes is used to act politely towards others, given his status as the messenger of the gods, it kind of is his duty. Even though he often has to deal with tons of unsufferable and rude deities - which, at first, he thought you were too, seeing the way you'd treat those you spoke with. He was ready to ignore any of you remarks if he had to... but you didn't give him the chance, acting unexpectedly nice towards him only. After that surprisingly nice first meeting, you kept being quite friendly during your exchanges with Hermes, which occured more and more often. He didn't really understand why you'd act so differently just to him but didn't ponder about it too much - he just considered himself to be lucky for once, instead of having to deal with another goddess mad at his father because of one of his many affairs. You weren't mad at him, which greatly relieved him. Actually, you were one of the few decent deities he could deal with. Not prone to anger (towards him, at least), amicable and pleasing when you wanted to, ready to comfort him and listen to his complains after a long day of wandering trough the realms and dealing with absurd requests and demands. His life was tiring, but fortunately for him, you were making it much more bearable. Ares is also scared of you, like many other deities, which comes in his favour when he is sick of dealing with them.

Based on how you wrote some genshin yanderes i was really surprised to see Scaramouche being somewhat manageable! (Yandere standards, not normal ones) I expected him to be the opposite! He turned out to be the one who ‘looks like will be difficult, but is manageable’ in the end! (Which is really well written!)
Your Albedo…on the other hand… terrifying. Would never want him as a yandere, (this is a compliment to you, he’s really well written!) thank you for the painkiller tho i guess?? He’s definitely someone who looks manageable but is terrifying
scara's darling giving advice on how to manage him to a group of note taking fatui trainees: basically, want you need to do is give him three head pats a day and one kiss on the cheek minimum. i consider this the formula to success.
how i've characterized yan scara has changed a lot overtime, he went from being the most bastard of bastards to this clingy feral creature who yearns for your attention 24/7 and has an attitude about it. albedo though... PHEW... what you said made me think who the least manageable yanderes would be. here are my two cents.
alhaitham has this way of getting under your skin without ever really trying. he never raises his voice, the intonation of his words are always steady, and he just gives this overall impression that he knows better than you. he never comes right out and says it, but he doesn’t need to. he doesn’t belittle your intelligence so much as he makes it feel inferior to his. there are no masterful plans or complex webs weaved by alhaitham to ensnare you, his methods are always simple, which serves to infuriate you further. if questioned on this, he’ll say he doesn’t see the point in putting in more effort than necessary if he can keep you where he wants using some well-placed coercion and threats. like... be more creative about it at least? damn. to make matters worse, him saying this isn’t even intended to rile you up. he just kinda responds to your question and then asks what you want for dinner. you can’t stand him.
albedo knows you uncannily well, to a degree you did not expect. albedo is a well-known enigma in mondstadt, so, chances are you’ve heard of him in passing before getting scooped up. after the initial shock wears off and your scheming begins, you’ll have this preconceived notion in your head that albedo is this out-of-touch, emotionally stunted alchemist who prefers seclusion over interacting with the populace. you figure you can use this to your advantage. imagine your surprise (and disappointment) when you realize that oh, he’s very emotionally intelligent for a guy who shuts himself in his laboratory for days on end. you’ll discover this the hard way after a few attempts at manipulation. he kinda plays along, your confidence builds, then he unceremoniously pulls the rug from beneath you at the end. gives you an A for effort though. the man has multiple files about you, including your behavioral patterns, organized in alphabetical order. good luck trying to pull one over on him.
cyno cognitive dissonance is genuinely impressive and could be subject to extensive study. he’s running through mental gymnastics to explain to you (and himself) how what he is doing is not at odds with his belief system. no, this is an exception, because... because it is! sometimes extreme measures need to be taken to achieve desirable results. cyno explains that he’s just keeping an eye on you because of how dangerous it is out there. why would he risk letting you be the victim of a crime when he can instead ensure no crime will ever take place? he seems oddly content with himself after voicing this line of reasoning, as if he’s given it extensive thought. and he has. he has to convince himself that what he’s doing isn’t wrong before he can go about convincing you. no argument on your behalf will ever chip away at his ironclad defenses, he’s spent months if not longer mentally justifying everything he was planning to do.
diluc has this odd savior complex that nobody asked for and imposes it on you. requests that you remove the rude term ‘kidnapper’ from your lexicon when speaking about him. really though, you think the infantilization is the worst part about it. it’ll be time to eat a steak and the man gives you a spoon. who does that? your living quarters have essentially been childproofed, he’s taken precautions in ways you weren’t creative enough to dream up beforehand. want to take a walk? a servant must accompany you. want to take a bath? a servant must be present ‘just in case’ you’re in danger of drowning (you really didn’t know what to say when hearing this one). it’s so suffocating and the frustration of being constantly belittled builds. then he has the audacity to wonder why you glare at him the second he enters your peripherals. for shame.

finally. the gouenji post where i rate his looks (soccer and school uniforms excluded).
gouenji is the face of the franchise along with endou and kidou, he has his own manga spinoff, and he's regularly elected as a fan favourite in every popularity contest.
canonically, gouenji has a huge fanclub of girls rooting for him and it's definitely not only because soccer.
so why is he so popular ?
well mostly because he's non verbal most of the time (girls love boys who can shut up), he makes bomb ass takoyaki, and he's also very handsome. but are his clothes helping or is he THAT handsome ? let's find out.
Tumblr media
ah, the OG season 1 classic. the first ever outfit. he looks great. orange is as much his color as it is endou's, it suits him very well. we already know gouenji is careful with his looks, since he canonically spikes his hair every morning, and now, we can be sure the fucker knows how to dress himself. he knows how to make colors match, he even matches the sunset. truly unparalleled.
if kazemaru didn't exist, i would have fell in love with him. 10/10
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OG season 2. man i want that hoodie. i want it so much. it's as cool in the game as it is in the anime.
i really like how this outfit manages to hide him and completely reveal him at the same time. the orange color, the fucking saiyen hairstyle under the hood. this dumbass had to keep the spikes even though he knew he had to hide them under a fucking hoodie that would ruin his work. it's called dedication. 11/10
before moving on to GO, (where the problems lies mostly), let's talk about two out of category looks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i love gouenji's looks in the games, especially the very first. he looks like a whole different character, way more rebellious and loudmouthed with his frosted tips, jet black eyes and eyebrows, unbuttoned jacket (we'll talk about those) and single earring. he looks very homosexual. 10/10
after the first game tho, they dropped the delinquent look and he got the inverted pikachu treatment, they made him rounder. a little saddened but not complaining, they kept the best features. 8/10
Tumblr media
one day i'll talk about the orion endings in detph, with all the emotions they triggered in me. persisting in giving him a hood is funny though. 7/10
OK NOW LET'S TALK ABOUT GO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the ishido shuuji outfit. iconic.
my man looks EXPENSIVE and that's great. i can see the first game gouenji in him. i cannot tell if he's gay or european. the raybans, the blood read suit, the slutty unbuttoned shirt, the jewelry, the kazemaru blue streaks iN his unspiked hair ! this outfit would cost me more than my day job monthly salary. he's living the life.
i can't buy him as a villain but i can buy him as a mean girl. 100/10
Tumblr media
the concept art is as good as the final design. i do get why they didn't keep the spikes for this look. he would have looked a little too much like a gay broly. not a bad thing but understandably unpreferable.
Tumblr media
there it is. the glowdown.
his hair does look good unspiked but... where are the blue streaks. why is he suddely hiding his chest under three layes of clothing. gouenji darling you know warm colors suit you best so why the grey-blue-ish suit ? am i supposed to believe this is the real you ? i know it's not. i hope you find yourself. 4/10
Tumblr media
OH BOY NEVERMIND WTF IS THIS.
wtf went through everybody's head while designing this. i get this is a way to mimic adult endou's charm but it does not work. gouenji isn't endou. you love endou because he's a very wholesome bundle of joy (voiced by naruto), and you love gouenji bc he is one half of the inazuma eleven equivalent of sasuke (kidou being the other half), you can't dress them the same way and not see the dissonance.
this man is not gouenji, this man buys cheap beers in the early afternoon without saying thank you to the cashier. this man pretends to be a metalhead. this man just divorced kanye. i would not trust him with my kids.
this is not a relaxed look, this is a sad, depressed look. please gouenji talk to someone. people love you. you can be helped. 0/10
conclusion : i don't know how they fucked up so bad at the end, they really made gouenji forgot about his hard-earned fashion skills. thank god he actually IS that handsome but before that he's all W after W. i'm eager to see him in victory road.

A very small innocuous detail I noticed was that Gio's step-dad was always depicted wearing a cross, like it's very deliberately shown even when his step-dad's body was turned away from us in the manga. When Polpo asks Giorno if he's religious, Giorno just replies he isn't devote.
I kinda wonder how that plays into his view of the world. His step-dad is his parent and a follower of Christ, and he's supposed to be Giorno's positive role model, but obviously that wasn't the case. (Maybe his step-dad used his religion as an excuse to beat Giorno, but either way It's EUGHHHHH >:C )
I feel like Gio detected that dissonance of how these authority figures are supposed to protect and stand for good, but instead caused or enabled harm.
And then the mafia, a system that normally caused harm (well i mean it does regardless), somehow produced a man who gave Giorno some of that protection and dignity he needed to grow into a righteous person.
On a related note, Diavolo and Doppio were raised by a priest who actually seemed like a very caring and loving father, and that did squat for their moral compass.
So I guess it all plays into the theme of how people can come from different places, but they're not necessarily bound to their upbringing-- they forge their own person. A good person can come from the worst places, a bad person can come from the best of places. Even Giorno, during the lowest point of his life, *chose* to save that gangster, even tho the narrator tells us he's destined to become a twisted person at the time.
Authority figures that are supposed to stand for good can be corrupt and they don't guarantee to create good people. It's up to the individuals themselves, and guidance to a better path can come from anywhere.

Okay but for some reason Shiggy always playing video games also equals him being chronically online and as an incredibly touch starved early twenties male individual I equate that to him consistently browsing pron sites
so like now I'm thinking about what his browser history was before meeting reader and then after
with all his posturing in the previous ask I'm imagining his desire to want to have all the control and thus taking it by force-basically what AFO has been grooming him to do with his powers and manipulating him into his perfect lil revenge puppet --so honestly it's probably involves lots of violence, humilation, debasement of one's partner?
then presented with reader and that all getting almost instantly nullified cause SURPRISE Shiggy isn't actually like that at his core- he's really just not had any good role models. Like yeah enacting violence on someone who did him wrong may still sound appealing but you're basically a stranger and oh shit you're gently touching his arm and his tummy feels a little queasy but in a good way???
And you're apparently the first person in his life with a gotdamn brain cause you recommend he wear special gloves for his quirk so all his fingers are never touching something all at once and that's a game changer cause now he doesn't have to be so cautious about being close to people--even tho he still is--but he "claimed" you and you're running with it so you're not skimping on the cuddling obligations of a kept woman! (plus Kai was also probably with holding of touch due to his germphobia so you're craving touch like hell too)
okay this got outta hand! I meant this to be an ask about you and tomura watching porn together/him starting to share gentle femdom videos with you and shyly asking if you can try them 😅😂😂😂
Yesyesyes to all of this! Personally for this au (or storyline I guess since it’s canonverse?) I envision the reader to have a powerful nullification/cancellation quirk of some kind, purely to make both Shiggy and Kai more obsessed with her 🥰
For Kai I envisioned a kind of, not worship for reader, but… reverence? Or admiration of some kind, viewing the nullification as her body’s own efforts to resist the quirk virus. Despite it in and of itself being a quirk. The same type of cognitive dissonance he has when it comes to regarding himself as clean and undiseased despite having overhaul lol. In any case it was a reason to keep her suffocatingly close, make sure nothing else could touch her, soil her, make her dirty. I know the “I’m the only one Overhaul can touch without getting hives” bnha fic trope can be overused but I 100% do not care because that’s exactly how I saw this situation with reader. But, like you said, he’s a germaphobe. So even with skin to skin contact not being a primary issue I definitely think touch was still a point of conflict. And sex was… a very specific, step by step process that HE decided every little detail about. As was this entire relationship. He controlled her clothes, diet, physical activity, hobbies, any possessions she had. There was no choice which soured things even when Kai happened to pick something she enjoyed.
For Tomura readers quirk cancellation is simply a means for him to be able to touch someone with five fingers down. Hug her. Hold her hand without fear she’ll crumble. And it’s so huge for him 🥺🥺🥺 I’m getting off track as well lmao
Definitely love the idea of both Reader and Shiggy beginning to share/watch porn together and that Tomura’s browser history and stuff changes. Bc one of the things that had me chewing on this idea the most was him having someone to be soft with, and to be able to make self discoveries with.
100% feel like Kai did not allow reader the consumption of porn either for reasons of keeping her “clean” mentally or bc of being possessive, possibly both. And domming him was a definite no, at least in this particular blurb.
Reader explores freedom of choice in regards to sex, porn, affection, food, spending time with actual people (no real companions were allowed at the Hassaikai because Kai was adamant he was ✨all she needed✨) and just generally being happy w him. And Tomura gets to begin to unpack the ideals AFO saddled him with. Meanwhile Kai gets to be armless and having a constant breakdown in Tartarus 🥰
(edit: the idea/blurb referenced is here for those who haven’t seen it)

Okay I know WTNV is haha absurdism humor but it is still a dystopian and it still comes up. Anyway, every time Cecil calls himself a good journalist I shrivel up and die cause he’s NOT objective(not that 100% neutral bias is possible and if anyone claims that, they’re wrong, but also Cecil is far from “objective” in a professional journalistic standpoint if you get me), and Cecil has very much drunken the Kool-Aid. I’d need to relisten to the early ep where he almost gets attacked by the secret police since it’s been over a year since I’ve listened to that ep, but besides that, I can't think of many instances where he hasn't been pro-screte police. There have been a handful of times where I thought he was being discrete, but I'm not so sure now, tho I AM NOT the best a picking up sarcasm so I could be off. Anyway, tell me why now this man is all of a sudden okay with questioning the gov when he wants to see his boyfriend. CECIL! MY DUDE! MY BROOO! PLEASE YOU'RE SO CLOSE! Not that is OOC, or bad writing or anything, but like, CECILLLL PLEASE!
I understand that you don't question certain things around you until it affects you personally, but also that really fucking sucks man. Also, yah yah, Strex Corp probably made him more open to questioning the structural powers around him, and during the Strex Corp Liveshow, he does actively call Night Vale a terrible town, so he, I hope he understands they're not the best, but also according to Steve, Cecil hates him cause Steve speaks out about the shitty government.
anyway, I'm on ep 66 at timestamp 13:21 on apple podcast, so I need to finish but I just had to get this out. I don't know, I get a real cognitive dissonance when listening to this show that I quite can't put into words. I will say, Cecil has become a more fleshed out character, like, I notice that they've been giving him more emotion??? Idk if that makes sense. Like, ever since Strex Corp, I think he's shown more sides to himself. Fascinating character to think about. He’s endlessly so charming and frustrating at the same time.

i'm thinking of suguru sitting next to you... his hair is down and your hands are in his. he's rubbing hearts into your palm and whispering sweet nothings into your neck... oh my god i'm so sick and in love with him it's not even funny 😭😭😭😭😭
also sugu with his hair loose is very. intimate and sweet and soft, i've seen people talk about how his hair is symbolic of his mental state/behaviors and i completely agree... but we deserved to see him let loose and show his 100% true colors in a happy context too!!!!!! BUT BACK TO THE MAIN IDEA he's so beautiful and handsome and and.. i wish i could say more but my imagination is not very good. which is why your thoughts are so helpful!!!
also ABOUT the last ask... i will share with you when the stuff comes... probably will be late may so i can save on shipping :(( i can show some stuff i have rn tho!! AND WHY DID SENDICO NOT WORK FOR YOU. ugh. i'm so sorry ari 🌖
🌖 ANONNNN MY BELOVED :3333
okay so this . made me insane? completely??? i don’t have words to describe the longing that poured into my body after reading this like it’s SO serious. YOU’RE ALWAYS OUT TO GET ME :(((…… all my moots and anons collaborating to make my brainrot worse……. sniffle………… soft intimate moments w sugu make me so emotional :’3 rubbing hearts into your palm.,… he’s suchhhh a loverboy i’m gonna cry. whispering sweet nothings into your ear…. treating you soso gently and delicately bc he just loves you so much…… bc you always treat him so gently in return . sniffle sob sniffle….
AND . HIM W HIS HAIR DOWN…….. let’s discuss this 🌖 anon . we Need to talk abt it. suguru’s hair is something so personal to me….. not JUST bc it’s silky and beautiful and fluffy but also bc it rlly is so very Symbolic……. the fact that he kept it in a bun during high school, let it all flow during his defection and then finally put it into a half-down bun……. it for sure symbolizes his mental state but most importantly his control . and his true self. teen sugu is very guarded …. very controlled….. when it comes to his fake smiles and emotions and just. everything. so him wearing his hair up is almost like a way of conforming, yk?? not letting his true self show. but during his breakdown he’s so tired and depressed he doesn’t even have the strenght to put it into a bun or take care of it…. he doesn’t have the strenght to put up appearances :((( n i think that’s also why he blurts some things out to haibara and yuki. he’s just . soso tired……
and when he finally defects and fixes his cognitive dissonance, he has the control and strenght to put his hair into a bun, but still lets it flow freely and. to me that’s . a symbol of his conviction. his decision Not to conform anymore :’3 i just love metaphors like that sm…. BUUUUT sadness aside it’s basically just a symbol of his true self and how comfortable he is showing it!!!! so for him to let his hair down in front of his s/o…. 🥺🥺 i just think. it’s a sign of trust. in a way. he’s willing to bare his heart to you…. and he trusts you to treat him w care. trusts you to wash his hair and comb it bc he knows you aren’t gonna tug on it or threaten to cut it off the way satoru does LMAO. he just trusts you soooo deeply and that’s so rare for him i think :(((((
ANYWAYYYYYYY I MADE MYSELF YEARN 2 MUCH. thank you for the tasty brainworms my beloved 🌖 anon <33333 AND PLSS I’D LOVE TO SEE YOUR CURRENT MERCH!!!! feel free!!!!! :3

I'm sorry is Jackson Publick okay cause like
Tumblr media
(he's talking about S6 here)
Did he just
Forget P.R.O.M and SPHINX rising? Also literally the last episode of S1?
I vary specifically remember him killing guys in those, and killing the Dean and Hank in S1 (which I count because even tho they came back he did actually kill them)
I didn’t get this until I watched the commentary for the first time.
In the show they made a couple of references that Gary didn’t actually become the scary, murdering henchman that people think he is. That’s just the reputation he created for himself by quietly letting people go or covering his tracks really well.
Tumblr media
Doc and Jackson are really good at developing a whole universe for each character that we only see if they decide to elaborate. For example, the Morpho Mobile was NOT covered in the blood of their enemies like I, and I’m sure many other people, had assumed until the commentary clarified.
Doc says that while Gary was the cause of many deaths, he could separate himself from the actions. Now objectively, as the viewer, we know that if you release a snake into a vent after putting snake pheromones into a guy's coffee, it’s your fault if he dies from the snake bite. But Gary’s probably like “Well it wasn’t me it was the snake :)”. He killed the boys in season 1 by accident, he’s a blunderer, but he also knows they can’t die for some reason so that’s a way to justify “killing them”.
They LOVE to only show the before and after of the action. It would be very Venture Bros to have half of those guys from PROM wake up and have to call a cab home because Gary only knocked them unconscious. I don't know how Gary justifies killing the kid and the Long Division henchman. Cognitive dissonance. As a hero maybe he feels the rules are different and it's not murder if you're saving the day. Obviously, that's not true but our boy is doing some compartmentalizing lol
He can’t do that with Horangutan. It was just them, face to face, and Gary punched him so hard his head spun around.
So Gary goes back to tweaking his narrative by stashing guys in the downstairs bathroom. They seemed like they also wanted to play around with him not actually killing Wandering Spider either, but I THINK he actually did. His buried corpse was haunting Gary’s dreams. Who knows though they could explain that one away too. In the same episode, we see Gary as a babe taking credit for killing someone that died accidentally so that he could get his wings, but now the audience knows he never had the guts before.
I kind of love the confusion the audience feels because it’s almost like we’re experiencing what the people in that universe are experiencing. Especially when we see things through The Moanrch’s POV. He doesn’t find out Gary isn’t as tough as he pretended to be until season 6.

Definitely Unfortunately a Delay
So we went over peoples' availability for working on the rest of episode 15, and most of the editors are quite busy at the start of this month and have said they will be able to work on it more diligently in the second half of the month. There's no way I can see part 1 being done in time for the end of the year, so I'll have to post an announcement on youtube about the delay, maybe give a little preview to make up for it tho what to show beyond what was already shown for the april fools video will be hard to decide.
However, the next QnA should be out before Christmas, we're just getting art done for it right now.
We're also hoping to get the next short out before the release of episode 15 due to its content being somewhat related to it, but that all really depends on the last VA we need who has been experiencing the worst luck ever for a good recording environment.
Again, production on episode 16 should go much smoother and quicker as all the lines are already recorded and ready for editing, so there won't be any delays waiting for voice actors this time, and we'll begin casting for episode 17 once episode 15 releases.
A new short has been scripted though that can be worked on soon and doesn't require that VA. It's sure to tug at peoples' hearts!
Great progress is being made in the scripting department, episode 22 has been fully outlined and will begin its scripting phase soon, while episode 21 is being discussed with the other writers who are excited for it.
The wait for episode 15 has been long, so I hope it will be worth it to people! We're very excited to release it, it has something a lot of people have been asking for!
Some episodes in Season 2 have had title changes, so for those curious and those who don't know the next season's episode titles, these are what to expect:
16- Mother Knows Best
17- Dissonant Lands
18- The Doctor Lies
19- Fire and Ice
20- Plunder of the Bilge Rats
21- [Code Name] Timberwolf
22- Ashes to Ashes
23- The Mechanist
24- [Code Name] Finally!
25- Big City Hijinks
26- [Code Name] Hollow Shades
27- The Witching Hour
28- Tea Time

i just realized my rant under the club piece cut off at 30 tags even tho it let me write out more than that and i need to have this somewhere or i'll die so it is now yalls problem. alas
the fuckign. the way that the bosses each foil the main character in sifu. the intrinsic way their personalities and motivations are portrayed and told to us as the player is cool as balls anyway but their contrasts and similarities to the mc is. how u say. really satisfying
Kajar is, by all intents and purposes, a hermit. He has drawn dramatically inward in these 8 years, so much so that Yang is the ONLY one who is allowed to see him. He seems to spend all his time working, growing things. He never leaves that warehouse. Likewise, the mc is overwhelmingly alone- it's part of the pitch of the game, but really. We never get evidence that he has any friends, any family left, he doesn't really interact with people in a way that isn't violent. The most we get is indifference from the few non-aggressive npcs. A look around the wuguan shows that he just pours all his time and energy into this quest of his- finding his targets and training. There's not really room in that for a social life. The mc seems to look down on how oddly alone and holed-up Kajar is, but he does the exact same thing, just to less an extent. He's hypocritical that way.
Sean is FUCKING fascinating as a character, and even more so as a foil because he is a near-perfect juxtaposition. Both their fathers were members of the guardians... Sean took part in the thing that killed his own father. Chances are, Sean himself killed his own father. That's a far cry from the revenge we see the mc seek for his. But Sean also has people. He has built himself a community of sorts- it's imperfect and more than a little cult-like but it doesn't feel like it stems from a power fantasy of his because he abides by the same rules- he, too, is burned. Contrast this from the mc's crushing isolation, something that Sean doesn't seem to have a problem with.
Kiroki's museum is a fantastic segment and when I first played through it I stopped to read all the descriptors once I killed the enemies in an area because damn. But her art is all about duality and identity: her fight, too, separated into two distinct and opposing segments. The mc exhibits a sharp dissonance from who he is when fighting to who he is when not. It's something I really like about the game- all those small segments after clearing a level where you get to just sit alone in the quiet for a moment before continuing forward. They're very contemplative, something you don't typically see in fighting games. A fight is all ruthless motion and violence, but after the fact, he seems to be a more thoughtful person than you would expect, considering. He's clearly patient: biding his time for 8 years until he knew he could do it, until he had the ability and the knowledge to pull this off. This duality is showcased in a much sharper way in Kiroki- she goes from "I don't want to fight you" to "I'll kill you a hundred times over" in very little time. All her minibosses tell you she's past this, she's put it behind her, she doesn't want to fight. But when she gets to it, she's not only very good at it, but she DOES enjoy a fight. These two things are both true, not as hypocrisy, but as twins of each other. Speaking of twins (lol)- Kiroki's twin's death and her subsequent grief and regret, the destruction of her family and the way it follows her for years, chases her out of her home- that, too, is something that directly parallels the player character.
Jinfeng, I think, means well. Or at least, she did. She started her business and as well, her goal of killing the other guardians, to help people. But in the end she remains just another functionally useless CEO, up in her ivory tower, looking down at the people she began all this to aid. She, like the guardians she resented, keeps secrets hidden underground and uses her power to help herself, her acquaintances, and few others. Our character, likewise, began his quest with arguably honorable intentions. But he kills more than just the five that hurt him along the way, and hurts so many more. By the time he reaches his goal you have to ask: what has he really accomplished? All he's doing is continuing the same violence. All she's doing is upholding the same status quo.
Yang is the most obvious parallel to the player character. He is a direct line from here to there, from what he was to what he is- a line that the mc is following to the letter. Yang is, similarly to Jinfeng, a cycle of the same harm, the same violence. Yang was enbittered with loss and he used that to justify hurt- our character does the very same thing. He becomes precisely what he despises, and you see it coming from a mile away. But because of the different endings, he can also be a cycle broken. It depends on the choices you make. He is one thing, or the opposite. A parallel, or a juxtaposition.
And the thing about the bosses too is that the five of them together also prove something interesting, and that's that they are all so interconnected. 8 years later and their lives stay entwined, at least to an extent. Sean sends fighters to defend all the rest, particularly Kiroki and Yang, and is acutely aware of your killing of Kajar. Members of Kajar's gang are also members of Sean's club. Yang routinely checks up on Kajar, treats him for some illness that is never specified but is clearly chronic, or at least long-term. Jinfeng funds both Kiroki and Yang, and either has replicas of each other bosses' weapons, or gathers them after you kill them. Yang holds pieces of each member in his wuguan- courtesy of their talismans. They stay entwined even after their task is complete, aiding and defending one another. The main character has none of this. He is, as previously mentioned, remarkably alone. There is no evidence pointing to any allies, anyone at all on his side. He justifies and moralizes his revenge but ultimately who mourns for his death? The deaths he inflicts will cause far more ripple than his own ever would, because they are actually connected to each other. He is alone and so, as cruel as this sounds, his death would not be felt. Theirs will be and are as he stubbornly refuses to die. Of course, this doesn't have to be true: he can choose- not forgiveness, even, but nonviolence- and in doing so, chase away that isolation. But if he does what he set out to do, he stays alone just as much as they stay connected.
