The story where everyone is doomed from the start. (Ft. FATEBREAKERS) Chara (they/it) - SOUL of Pain Plaster (he/they) - SOUL of Patience Omlet (she/they) - SOUL of Kindness Talon (he/him) - SOUL of Bravery Oxalis (they/them) - SOUL of Justice Sonata "Breve" Stardust (she/her)- SOUL of Integrity Litany (he/him)- SOUL of Perseverence Frisk (they/them) - SOUL of Pain Bear witness to my takes on the six fallen humans! I love these silly lil fellas. My main focuses have been envisioning "UNDERTALE: Open Wound", of which Plaster is the protagonist, and "UNDERTALE: Simmer Down", of which Omlet is the protagonist, but I've got ideas for everyone else too. Which I will detail down here lets gooo; Plaster is an anxious overthinker, thinking that they're always doomed. His patience manifests as analysing his enemy's patterns and behaviour, waiting for the right moment to strike... Either emotionally or physically. Omlet is a rude, abrasive person, who thinks the kindest, most selfless thing they can do to people is tell them exactly what she's feeling. Though she seems distant, she does have a warm and caring side- expressed through their cooking. Talon is a very plucky individual, whose bravery manifests as completely pushing down all fear and pretending that he's fine when he's really not fine. He projects outwardly a very cool, calm and collected persona, never breaking a sweat at anything. This trait of his just might be the death of him, as he moves on ahead with reckless abandon- never asking for help, when that just might've saved him. Oxalis seems unemotional at a distance, but they do have occasional moments of goofiness that break through the cold facade. They play as a cowboy embodying justice to cheer themselves up, but it's really only made them seem slightly scary from a distance. Sonata "Breve" Stardust doesn't take shit from anyone. She stays true to herself, no matter what- with her rough-and-tumble-yet-oddly-elegant style. Though perhaps being unaccepting to changing the path one is barreling down is as much of a strength as it is a weakness. Litany is a caring and nurturing person, playing out the fantasy of being a doctor with a clipboard. Always writing down notes on his "clipboard" (journal), clutching onto it for dear life. He only really wants to help others, and he keeps going to achieve this goal no matter what. MISC NOTES: Sonata's form of "game" would likely manifest as a rhythm game sort of thing, justifying it in-universe as this "bizzare trend going around the underground." Stay with the groove, or die! (metaphorically) It's been my headcanon for nearly two years now that the "Red SOUL trait" is PAIN. It is not all too logical. I am sticking by my guns.
NAME LOGIC: I was inspired by Clover from UNDERTALE: Yellow being named after the fact that once pacified, the gun fires clovers. So, I extended this philosophy to everyone else- while also seeking to capture that odd jank the names "Chara" and "Frisk" have.
Plaster is named that because the knives turn into bandaids, and plaster is an alternative term for a bandage, or something that patches up a wound. Omlet is named that because the fire turns into omelettes, and I decided to shorten it for some reason. I think it's charming like this, though. If anyone else mentions how they "aren't really omlettes", i will sob. Talon is named that because that's the most convoluted way I could reference the concept of hands. Which is what the bravery soul phase attacks with. Oxalis is named that because Oxalis Tetraphylla is the official name for a four leaf clover. Though she probably uses Alis as a nickname. Sonata "Breve" Stardust is named that bc the musical notes eventually heal you. a Sonata is a form of music, a Breve is a type of note, and she attacks with some stars. it's also sort of an Equestria Girls reference whoopsie. She's the only one with a lastname bc I feel like "Breve" captures the sort of janky charm I want, but Sonata is a name that I just found legitimately really pretty Litany is named that because that's the most convoluted way i could say "words", in reference to how the soul phase... attacks you with words. It means a funeral procession recited for the dead, but also something that's overly long and needs to be practiced several times- exactly like the cycle of the fallen humans. Or a long and lengthy ramble, like an indecipherable journal.
DESIGN NOTES: I really wanted each of the fallen humans to use their trademark items in an unusual fashion- or just generally "break the mold" a little, ie having Omlet be a rather rude seeming person, while most personify kindness to be a gentle little angel. So, I'll go into that just a smidgen more here. Instead of wearing the Faded Ribbon like an actual ribbon in his hair, Plaster wears it like a bowtie. Omlet wears the apron around her waist, since she's outgrown it but it still holds quite a lot of sentimental value. Most people just?? forget that the worn bandanna is supposed to go around your neck?? since it's got abs drawn on it, and it's like, the whole joke is that it's supposed to look like you have abs- It's a hat. Sonata was such a fun design to make for me. Everyone always chooses to make Integrity a dainty little ballerina girl, so I chose to give Breve a whole-ass varsity jacket. She looks like she'd beat you up and I love it. My logic for Litany's design was entirely "okay... who wears glasses... and takes notes- DOCTOR". So that's what I did. Chara and Frisk were difficult for me to redesign. My friend Cacote suggested Chara be wearing an oversized sweater alongside messy hair, which I quite like. Plus, their hairstyle is a partial reference to Chara from Fanontale, which is always cool. They look adorable. My friend Cacote suggested Frisk be wearing some bizzare fashion, somewhat akin to futuristic clothing. This manifested as me... giving them a weird suit/trenchcoat combo. And a sticky bandage on their nose. They look kind of like a huge asshole, and I love it.

welcome back, im glad to see you again!! <3
i wanted to send in the idea of undertaker x bizarre doll reader! i do writings of my own take on this with an oc of mine, and wondered what your take would be like!
hope youre doing well~
Your idea is very interesting, I don't think I've written anything like that before. 🤔 Thank you!
Tumblr media
Undertaker:
First and foremost, we need to consider whether Undertaker would fall for one of his Bizarre Dolls or would make his beloved one one of them. Regarding the latter, I believe it's very possible that he would reach for such methods if his lover would pass away—especially if it was due to some sudden accident or illness and not old age. While he would be able to prepare for you eventually dying if it was because of the sheer nature and your mortality, the possibility of abruptly having you taken away seems like it could cause quite a shock for him and make him do everything in his will to bring you back.
Either way, I don't think Undertaker is capable of handling the death of his closest ones in a healthy manner. Not anymore.
In some eerie, disturbing way, he certainly would be very attentive and caring for his lover's body during the whole process of changing. He would caress your hair, hold your hand and constantly reassure you that it's alright, that he won't let anything bad happen to you anymore and that soon you'll be able to talk again. As twisted as it sounds, he would still remain rather respectful—asking for permission before bathing you with a sponge and gently putting on new clothes, careful to not touch you in any way which could be considered inappropriate. He would be here to help you, after all, not to profane your body.
The amount of waiting would be the worst and somehow it would surprise him that his patience is growing thin in this case. He has always considered himself as a rather patient person, valuing time and effort instead of spontaneous decisions but when it comes to you, he would find it difficult to focus on anything else. Undertaker would keep an eye on you, constantly making sure that you're safe, your head rests against the soft pillow and your favourite scent fills the air. He would want to make you feel like home, as if it was nothing but a long nap.
Once he would have you back, however, he might be rather... disappointed. It was completely different when it came to strangers or people he didn't care about in the slightest but you—oh, he could clearly see how you changed. Not in a physical way, not necessarily, but your behaviour, your humour, your whole personality... He could pretend to not notice it but deep inside he would always know that you went to the place far away and no matter what he did he couldn't completely bring you back as a whole.
He would be devastated. Holding you close, smelling your hair and running his thumb up and down your shoulder, he would consider letting you go. Still, the mere thought would cause him even greater pain than the possibility of never meeting you in the first place. Undertaker would remain loving and caring, trying to humour you with his jokes and constantly keeping an eye on you just in case someone tried to take you away from him again. Unfortunately though, the guilt and loneliness would keep consuming him from the inside.
Things would be rather different when it comes to him falling for someone who was already one of the Bizzare Dolls. At first, he might not get any interest in you, your personality, your past or anything related to you, too focused on his own goals to pay attention to the nameless pawns... But as the time passed, Undertaker could notice that you were somehow peculiar. You weren't a mindless creature as his first Bizarre Dolls, on the contrary, you were amusing and fascinating. His interest, however, would be based purely on the fact that he didn't know you before. Perhaps he would grow fond of you even more while you were still alive but this kind of situation was out of subject so he wouldn't dwell on that. What mattered is that, how he actually enjoyed your company.
It was hard to tell whether death sharpened or dulled your personality but Undertaker knew one thing—this version, the current version, was something he liked. As ironic as it sounds, you made him feel almost alive, relieved after a day of hard work and content in your arms. You would be one of the few to prove to him that his experiment was, indeed, a success.

i have!!! honestly i'm obsessed with all of her star wars works. quite a few of them are on her tumblr but not ao3 and usually i do not read fic on tumblr cause i use app and it just doesnt work well for very long posts for me but oh my god. they are so good ive read them all and reguarly go back to reread. her roleswap au where obi wan is the padawan and Cody has this weird parental relationship with him changed how i view bad dads in ficition forever. their messed up relationship is my lifeblood. (there is this one moment where Cody relates it back to his own relationship with jango and OH MY GOD.) its just the most deliciously messed up thing ever. that Cody 100% fueled my current views when it comes to jango and being a dad and not being a dad.
yes thats it completely! Cody didnt ask for it it was forced on him. and why was it forced on him? what gave jango this weird obsession? what is he running from thats fueling this bizzare behaviour. so fun to think about! so fun.
yeah its just cycles of abuse. i like exploring it. but also. theres the potential of 'this stops with me' which can also be fun to explore. could cody overcome his weird relationship with jango and be a better parent, should he find himself in that situation?

i saw the "I want to see trenterra" ask and that just intrigued me so here's my immediate thoughts on how that cld even work.
Obviously they'd know each other before TDWT because Drama Brothers.
Because Trent's so into what the fans want (to the point where he's chill after they tie him to a bus), I can see him still being genuinely friendly to her even after she does some over-the-top stuff like breaking into their tourbus.
And I don't think Sierra's really had that many fulfilling relationships, she grew up in a house where her mother obsessed over Chris Mcclean, and that's very obviously had a large effect on her. It's mentioned at least once that she didn't really make friends in her childhood. I feel like she followed her mother's actions and turned to the parasocial in its place, forming a deep disconnect that spiralled out of control.
So yeah, having those first few strings of genuine could be good for Sierra in helping her recognise how unhealthy her behaviour is, and what she can do to be better. And Trent's a fairly good person for that, he's sincere, patient (especially in responding to really.. idk how to say it.. intense stuff? i.e. bus again), but still able to put his foot down. He'd be more readily able to sympathise with Sierra because he screwed up in Action in ways that are along similar lines.
And Sierra would be very open to his issues too, I can't see her immediately jumping to harsh judgement when his OCD causes him to act in ways she can't immediately understand, and I can see her as very happy to listen, which I think is something Trent needs a lot.
So yea they gradually develop to allow themselves to be fully open to each other, in a way they haven't really done with anyone else and then eventually they start dating boom trenterra
...okay the dating would actually probably take a fair bit of build-up, I think beforehand these two would be quite eager to jump into relationships due to idealism, but with their relationship shaking them up so much I think they'd kinda be hesitant. I can see Trent worrying he'll make the same mistakes with Gwen. I can see Sierra worrying if Trent truly likes her, or whether she's fallen back into bad habits and is fictionalising his emotions.
It'd be a kinda bizzare romantic relationship (definitely not fitting previous Trent's idealizations of what a romantic relationship should look like), of course they'd play into some of those romantic concepts, I think they're both very into that thing, big gestures, sappy romances, but ultimately the relationship is stable due to that openness and communication, the hidden part of the iceberg.
It probably ends after a few years after they develop enough in their external lives to realise that they no longer need the romantic relationship, and can just go back to friends.
ok after writing this whole thing i went from curious trenterra neutraller to mild trenterra liker. Heck, now i'd want to see Trenterra too.

Theres something very validating about self destructive behaviour. I dont like having feelings of self hatred validated though so its very weird thinking about why that used to be a thing i liked and why i stopped. I think it had to be an act of transgression and a way of taking back control of things in a way. To people who hurt me but still maintained concern about my wellbeing, hurting myself was the only way i could imagine getting back at them. I dont think i really wanted to feel bad about myself or even to hurt myself. It was such a bizzare passive aggressive form of resistance. I really wish i just punched them or something instead in retrospect. Physically showing my dad i wouldnt let myself be assaulted, molested and abused was something i wish i knew to try earlier. The important thing is i learned how to stop being passive and self destructive and learn to attack things head on
I feel like when i left i lost that again and relearning how to do it in the absence of a directly present and frankly less powerful than i thought antagonist to mobilise myself against feels like the only way to recover

omg hi!!! can you do reigen from mob psycho 100 for the this or that list? please? you can pick the questions lol thank u have a great night!!!!
Hello, hello, my lovely anon! Thank you unbelievably much for this question! Reigen is one of my favourites so I'm just going to do all the questions! Have a great night yourself!
coffee or tea?
Reigen will drink both without complaint. He does appreciate a cup of coffee now and then but overall, he does find he prefers and drinks more tea. He has to add at least a little bit of sugar to coffee as he does find the taste more bitter than he’d like and he doesn’t really enjoy the aftertaste of anything heavier than a light roast coffee, whereas he finds no matter what type of tea, it’s normally pretty good just as is.
2. cars or planes?
Cars are more practical and what he uses far more than he’d ever use a plane so he’d pick that option.
3. books or movies?
I’m not saying he never reads. Reigen is a very intelligent man and is fairly well read but if given the choice, he’s always, always going to pick a movie. They take far less time for him to get through and since he’s a fairly visual person, it’s a more enjoyable form of story telling for him.
4. movies or tv shows?
He’d still pick movies, every time. And honestly, the more B-grade and cheesier the movie, the more Reigen will like it.
5. books or magazines?
It really depends on why he’s reading. If he’s doing research on something, he tends to go more for magazine articles or published articles on the internet but if he’s reading for pleasure, it’s a book. That being said, he probably has bought more magazines than books, oddly enough.
6. soda or water?
This is a difficult one as I firmly think that before Mob showed up, Reigen probably drank a lot more soda or tea or coffee than he did water. He next to never took care to stay really hydrated, despite knowing how much healthier it was and despite recommending that other people did. When Mob showed up though, Reigen started slowly modeling better and better behaviour for the child and that included making sure both of them stayed well hydrated. It’s gotten to the point where he actually prefers water over the more sugary drinks, though they are a nice occasional thing.
7. long-term relationships or casual flings?
Neither, honestly. I don’t think Reigen really thinks of romance all too often or of sex all that often. It’s not a huge need for him like it is for some other people and he has a lot of other things he’d rather prioritize. If he had more time, maybe, or if it became a bit more important to him though, he would definitely be more of a long-term relationship sort of person. Casual flings are not his thing at all and he thinks they could potentially lead to someone’s feelings getting hurt or many other complications.
8. sweet or sour?
He would definitely rather eat something sweet than something sour but doesn’t mind either...in moderation. Anything too sour makes him feel like vomiting and anything too sweet hurts his teeth.
9. sci-fi or fantasy?
Reigen loves sci-fi. In particular, he loves the really old, really cheesy, horribly produced sci-fi movies with aliens so bizzare and so badly made up that nobody can take them seriously.
10. pizza or fries?
Fries are actually one of Reigen’s weaknesses, I firmly believe. They are his ‘these are trash for me but they’re soooooo good’ guilty pleasure, the more salt the better!
11. vanilla or chocolate?
Vanilla goes with more things and doesn’t have as heavy an aftertaste as chocolate and it’s what Reigen prefers.
12. going to the movies or long walks?
As much as Reigen likes a good movie, he would rather take the long walk. He does genuinely enjoy being physical and getting out and about.
13. pants or skirts?
Pants. He never shows it but he doesn’t much like his legs. For some reason, he’s really kind of self-conscious about them and prefers to keep them hidden under pants.
14. shower or bath?
Bath all the way, especially at a bath house. It’s just a very soothing experience and really relaxes him. Showers seem more practical and perfunctory and less enjoyable overall.
15. formal or casual?
While he will wear casual clothes, Reigen feels the most at ease and the most like himself in a business suit or in slightly more formal attire.

Yandere Café Owner Namjoon/Collage Student Reader
Series: Chapter 2
Warnings: toxic behaviour, possessiveness, jealousy, manipulation, age gap
Summary: Collage student Y/N can't help but to fall for her older friend but would she still said yes to his poprosal yes if she knew what lays behind those intelligent eyes?
This is just fictional character and I do not condone that Namjoon is like that.
Part 1
Hours later and we were finaly done.  “Jonnie you are the best tutor I had. And to be honest I had already five tutors but noone was this good with me. Thank you for your time and patience.” I said with chuckle. It`s no problem. Honestly don`t be so hard on yourself. You got a lot of things right so I don`t think you are that bad at biology. The problem is with your teacher I think.” “If you think so.” I started packing my things when Namjoon grabbed my hand. I was startled so I jerked my hand from his grasb. I could see in his face that it wasn`t very pleasant for him so I qickly apologised and sheepishly smiled. “It was nice seeing you but it`s already late so I should probably go home.”  I said while I was standing up from chair. “Wait Y\N, please. I can give you lift so you don`t have to go alone. Besides it`s dark out there.” Said Namjoon who was already putting his coat on. I chewed my lip in between my teeth. I didn`t want to be burden for him more than I was but on the other hand I din`t want to go alone. “You don`t have to you know. You already helped me.” “No I insists. It would be hounor if a pretty lady like you come with me.” He teasingly bowed his head and soon in quite Cafe was heard laughing. “Ok ok my prince charming I would like to come with you, thank you for your offering.”  “You are welcome my princess....so you have everything packed?” I checked my bag. “Yes it look like that.” “Good we can go then.” We went out and I waited for Namjoon to lock the door. Then we went togheter to his car.
|In the car|
“So Y\N what would you say if I theoreticaly invited you on a date?” asked me Namjoon and I swear I saw him smirk at my expression. I almost chocked at my saliva, red in the face and my eyes popped from sockets. “Why would you say something bizzare like this.” I wisphered and when I looked from window I could see we were reaching my home. “Why should it be bizzare. If you can see I like you so I just want one date...one chance.” I could see how hurt he was but what I couldn`t know was how he masked his smile when he saw how it was affecting me. So not to hurt his feelings I said yes we could go and bid him goodbey. He give me in return one dimpled smile and said he will pick me tomorow after school. I went to unlock my door of my home with beatig heart and crazy smile unable to see a dangerous glint in Namjoon`s eyes.

The Fox Burrow
Martin was running as fast as his feet could take him, only coming to a stop once he was sure to be far enough from the wolf den. He leaned on a coniferous tree to catch his breath, his eyes stealing uncertain glances at the direction he was running from.
Liberating a heavy sigh, he suddenly recalled the unread envelope in his pocket. Once he had it in his hands, he ripped off the paper fabric before pulling out a golden orange card.
Eagerly, his eyes analyzed the written content.
"You've made it this far, and I'm impressed. But with a bushy tail similar to a weasel's, and sharp canid teeth very much like a wolf, finding me won't be a brieze. But don't fret, I am a red flame within these snowy lands. Even in the darkest nights, you can still find my small paw prints on the way. Who am I?"
Martin's eyes blinklessly went over the riddle again and again, followed by meditation.
He paced back and forth with one hand on his chin, the words racing through his mind. "Hmm... A bushy tail... A reddish coat... Canid teeth..."
Just as he was about to give up, the answer suddenly elucidated his thoughts, quickly turning his deep pensiveness back to bright optimism. "A fox! No other canid in this forest has red fur other than a fox. Koki's probably refering to the European fox!"
Just as he was about to pick his next trail, Martin cringed at a bizzare noise coming from some nearby bushes. He carefully got closer, extending one hand in advance. From the white snow palette resting on the unobtrusive green shade of the bush, appeared a white tipped bushy tail. Martin gasped in astonishment at the sight of the creature walking out in front of him.
"A European fox?! How serendipitous," he said, a light chuckle escaping him. The carnivorous animal took one clueless look at the zoologist, then ran off into an unknown location.
"Hey! Wait up, Flame!" he called out, the improvised name rolling off his tongue. Martin ran after the fox, unwilling to let her out of his sight.
After a short shase, Martin finally came to a particular place. He stopped to observe Flame from afar. He watched in awe as two small pups came out from a small hole in the ground, which he assumed was a burrow. Flame - the mother of the two cubs - nuzzled her youngsters before taking out some meat from the burrow for them to eat.
As soon as she did, the two baby foxes jumped on the food, tugging it between them with their tiny teeth. Flame broke them apart before splitting the red nourishment into two, equally distributing it to the little ones.
Admiring the scene, Martin slowly approached the small family. He knelt not too far from the cubs, not startling the mother.
"Aw, Flame. You're a mom! I gotta come up with a name for these guys," he said while analyzing the cubs' behaviours. The first cub was female, she took small bites from her food while brushing the snow behind her with her tail. The second was a male cub, unlike his sister, he would aggressively devour his food, getting snow all over the place. Martin laughed at his attitude.
"Hahaha... Oh, naming you is gonna be easy, you're Toughy," then to the female cub, "and you're Fluffy," he announced warmly.
"Wow, Red Foxes really are active canids, and those bushy tails with white underparts sure look cool with those reddish-brown coats," he let out in astonishment.
While the pups were preoccupied with their meal, Flame took out her share of meat from the burrow, unintentionally pulling out something that instantly caught Martin's eyes.
"Hey, is that-" he went over to grab the mysterious object. "The fourth envelope!" He exclamed.
"Thanks Flame! I almost forgot I was looking for this," he chuckled a bit.
The red paper fabric color was enough for him to guess who it was from. He took out the card from inside the envelope, eagerly reading it.
"I'm red, small and love nuts. But I'm not easy to find. Who am I?"
As simple as the riddle was, it took a moment for Martin to think of the answer. Looking up, he spotted a few nuts falling from a tree.
"Squirrels!" he let out. "Jimmy must mean Red squirrels. I gotta find them!" Swiftly, he got up to go on the search for the last creature.
"Bye Flame, Toughy and Fluffy!" he let out with a friendly tone, his gut leading him toward a random direction. As he ran off, the fox family went back to its peaceful meal.
Sadly, the peace was coming to an end as two villains were secretely getting ready to capture them. Evil laughters were soon heard from behind the trees, the mother flinched at the sudden noise of a giant vaccum-like machine heading right at her and her cubs. But before she could react, it was too late.
The foxes were now at the mercy of the evil chef and fashionista...

Day 381, Bhaswat Chakraborty
Highly Developed Gentle Behaviour.
Human behaviour has such a wide range that whenever we come across some unfamiliar behaviour we can easily label it as bizzare, weird or abnormal. Then there are cultural stereotypes and different ways to show respect, love and social rejection. If the other person is highly and easily irritable one, then you normal behaviour can also be labelled as bad or irritating behaviour. I have worked with many many different cultures, from different countries, and I have observed really spectacular differences in behaviour.
Despite all these, there could be a general set of gentle behaviour which is never outrageous or insulting to others and not over-sensitive but sensitive enough to be practically sane. Some people display gentle behaviour so thoroughly across all situations that even if she is not very knowledgeable her general experience with others is one of joy and peace.♥️😁👍

I just saw your House post. Would an infection affecting the brain always have a fever or other obvious signs of infection? I'm a young person (25) and just began experiencing some very bizarre neurological stuff that I've never experienced before, worsening over the course of a month, and I just had my appointment with the neurologist today. When I mentioned that as a possibility she told me I would definitely have a fever or be clammy.
Symptoms began with (new) migraine with classic aura, then more headaches with preceding cognitive impairment, tingling, and after like a month headache episodes preceded by involuntary movement that isn't consistent with any motor disorder, and then what made me question infection was elevated heart rate with episodes of tachycardia up to 140bpm. I don't want to be paranoid with the doctors, but part of me is worried that it's something serious that may cause preventable damage if not caught. The referral from the ER to neurology took 2 weeks after the motor stuff started, and she gave me a referral to get an EEG and see a movement disorder specialist but that will probably take weeks too.
I apologize, I've really neglected this blog - as in I can end up queuing posts in one day for up to a year and forget it exists.
And what invariably in happens is that I don't read any of the messages that come my way anymore, simply because I don't login frequently.
Disclaimer: I'm not a neurologist, and these would be my very general/superficial answers. Q1: Depends on the infection. In some cases, such as encephalitis (inflammation/infection of the brain tissue itself) you may not always develop a fever or notice one. That said, it is extremely, extremely rare to pick up encephalitis if you're other wise young and healthy. Also, there are risky behaviours we usually associate with it, like eating uncooked pork. Things we normally wouldn't do (and for good reason).
In the elderly population, their bodies may not always be able to mount a proper fever anymore either. Similarly, if you're immune suppressed you may not be able to depending on what's been suppressed.
Even then, you would have other symptoms and signs if you had good going encephalitis. Classically, behavioural changes (like really bizzare behaviours) are what might suggest this differential. Like someone with previous no mental health issues suddenly having hallucinations - we'd consider this, among many other things.
So, to all intents and purposes, in your case, it's quite possible the constellation of signs you have would only be associated with infection if you had a fever. Or at least be more obvious on your blood work or any imaging. I'd be surprised if no one's scanned your brain yet. Hence the answer received from your neurologist.
Q2: Most of the time it is the migraine at fault when you're young. It's not entirely uncommon to have young people in their 20s present to an ED as a stroke for instance, (and be treated as one till proven otherwise). It's one of the mimic's for stroke. As well as Todd's paresis - aka, an altered state post seizure. These are both far more common than an infection afflicting the brain.
Re: 2 week turnaround time - that's actually considered an urgent review. I've unfortunately seen much longer wait times now, particularly thanks to the pandemic (and that will be the new normal in many parts of the world). The only thing faster is an admission to hospital.
Regardless, it will never feel short as a patient waiting for answers. It is anxiety provoking.
When you are concerned about your health, you are always entitled to get a second opinion. If you see your PCP or family doctor you can ask for a referral elsewhere.
Alternatively, if things change or get worse, it is always worth another trip to the ED

Sorry if this is a weird question, but how do you keep your dogs from fighting? I hear people say all the time you shouldn't keep dogs of the same gender together, especially females. Is that just a myth? I always thought it sounded kind of bizzare, and obviously your pack is just fine so I'm very curious!
This is a very late reply I’m sorry. I’m gonna use the Sims to help explain. You have been warned.
I was of the same belief when I was younger but was always told never to own two males together as they would fight for “dominance”. Oh how we learn and grow!
I could write for days about the intricacies of a multi dog household and keeping everything harmonious, but I’ll try and keep it brief!
Essentially, I promote scenarios that will result in positive interactions and/or rewards for my dogs. The goal is to have a lot of this happening:
Tumblr media
Strengthening the relationship and bond between dogs and conditioning them to predict good things from each other.
On the flip side, I manage and try to decrease the frequency of potentially negative situations that could result in:
Tumblr media
Of course, as they bank more ++, I can slacken a bit with my management as they have enough in the “friendship bank” and engrained habits to HOPEFULLY follow their already made habits of acting/interacting appropriately. Besides, these appropriate interactions usually mean a reward like playing, snuggling, or chasing geckos together!
In comparison, If they had a loooong history of - - interactions, one might presume if left unmanaged they’d be more likely to repeat undesirable or inappropriate behaviours towards each other, and even potentially escalate.
An example would be:
If every day for a week I presented my 5 dogs with one big, juicy bone, they would have to a) snatch the single high value resource and then fend off the other hungry pooches (how stressful!) or b) watch sadly as another dog enjoyed the bone. On day 7, you’d likely see a LOT of anxious, stressed, and even resource guarding behaviour. Perhaps a scuffle or fight to “win” the resource. The dogs would not be loving each other’s company, and this situation is continuously creating negative interactions between them. Their little inter-doggie relationships would be VERY strained.
If every day for a week I presented my dogs with a big, juicy bone EACH - and separated them to keep them happy and relaxed without having to worry about anyone thieving, they would be MUCH happier! You’d likely see excited, bouncy, expectant pooches all content with each other’s company as they eagerly awaited their prizes. Their inter-doggie relationships have gained another ++, ie. “when I’m with you guys we ALL get something super cool! That must mean my doggie siblings = good things happening!” When they’re given their bones they are always separated, meaning the risk of negative interactions is always eliminated.
But what happens if management fails (as it very well can)? What if one day a well meaning neighbour were to throw a single bone over the fence for my dogs to “share” whilst I’m not home? Well, I’m hoping nothing too exciting. I’m hoping that all their history of ++ interactions has given them the skills to communicate and created a relationship strong enough to withstand such a situation. I would predict that they would rush for it, the fasted dog would flee with it, the remaining 4 would trail behind doggo #1 sussing out if they will share.. and when #1 gives a polite warning then the other 4 would decide it’s not worth it and go and find something else to do. Perhaps later when #1 has lost interest, someone else can have a gnaw on it. Of course, this would be a very different situation if in the past they had been conditioned and allowed to practice fighting for such resources.
But if I separate my dogs when they have resources of value, how DO they gain the skills to deal with a mismanaged situation? The answer is, I don’t always separate! In fact in a lot of situations I encourage them to interact and be near one another with yummy food/fun toys… because the reality is this is a house with a lot of dogs, and the more they are comfortable sharing and being around their siblings, the better their QOL will be. It’s all a game of give and take!
My dogs are scatter fed biscuits in the garden each morning. They get SO excited for it! It’s enriching, stimulating, and allows them to express normal behaviours. They all snuffle for their breaky together, and are supervised to ensure their body language remains relaxed and that they continue to enjoy this ritual together. If at any point someone started to become stressed, tense, or began guarding… I would rethink this method to avoid any potential - - interactions.
This was meant to be short but TLDR; I encourage situations where my dogs have positive interactions with each other thus strengthening their relationships and adding to their “friendship bank”. I manage situations that could be at risk of creating negative interactions, and I do this by either by ELIMINATING the interaction (by separating) or by close supervision and intervening when the risk is high. Negative interactions still happen and always will but to a minor degree where they can be used to build communicate skills and better understand each other. When management fails for those bigger risks, the theory is that they have enough ++ stored in their “friendship bank” to deal with it using their stored habits and aforementioned communication skills.
They are a unique and complex dynamic of dogs and I am forever saying they are a breeze and so easy, which is true, but it takes away from how resilient, sound, and tolerant they actually are and how GOOD they are at maintaining a wonderful, healthy little doggie family. I love them all immensely ❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These photos are of fun they had together. I opened a plant mail order, and they subsequently ripped up the cardboard packaging. They equate this to the highest possible level of fun, and had a blast playing tug, shredding, and chewing. I can only assume it was much more thrilling in each other’s company, and honestly think if it were any one of these guys by themselves they wouldn’t have even bothered!
The chair is one that has been “gifted” to the dogs. Again, the handiwork was a team effort between Moe and Budge. I can imagine the cheeky fun they were having as they took turns ripping out the stuffing. Oh what glee to be puppies destroying things!! Enjoying each other’s company and plotting naughty plans at its finest!

Super specific placements astro notes/rants
Usual disclaimer: take this with a grain of salt and only what resonates.
You can look at Chiron and the planets it touches to see conflicts/trauma regarding family remembers or people in general
Sun - father, masculine figures
Moon - mother, feminine figures
Mercury - siblings/cousins (not sure with this one)
Venus - feminine figures.
I want to elaborate on this one. I personally don't like assigning gender to placements, but energies. Feminine and masculine don't directly point to gender, only behavioural characteristics.
Mars - masculine figures
Jupiter - masculine/mentor figures
Saturn - authority figures (you may also look at the midheaven for this one, although its meaning is a little distorted)
That moment when you even hint at mercury-uranus, mercury-saturn, mercury-mc, mercury in the 1H/3H/6H/7H/9H/10H/11H that they are stupid 😀🔪 I am calling myself out with this one.
Mercury-uranus makes someone's intellect their pride, what makes them stand out. Mercury-saturn go through a lot of wrestling with how intelligent they are.
Mercury-mc suggests that they are known for their smarts, and they are truly pragmatic(they look up to intelligence as well).
Mercury in the 1st house makes intellect part of their core identity, meanwhile mercury in the 3rd is in its home, how can you insult something in its more comfortable place?
Mercury in the 6th may doubt their intelligence a lot, despite how logical they most likely are in their day to day life.
Mercury in the 7th brings rationality in their relationships, and its also something they are recognized for.
Mercury in the 9th, I have this one, really ties intellect to personal beliefs. Insulting their brains is like Insulting what they believe in.
Mercury in the 10th, just like mercury-mc. And mercury in the 11th house is also probably thought of as rational as well. Their friends know it, their community knows it.
Trines are lazy. These aspects give so much potential but it's so easy to lose focus with them, this is why I prefer sextiles over trines.
Your 12th house represents your dreams. Whatever you have on your 12th house can point to how your dreams are.
F.e I have moon in the 12th. My dreams tend to include lots of feminine figures and emotions. I also have capricorn on my 12th house, so routine and constant reminders of my responsibilities keep popping up
Scorpio on the 12th house may have nightmares often
Gemini/Sagittarius on rhe 12th may have very bizzare dreams.
Libra on the 12th may dream a lot about relationships
We tend to turn towards the opposite house we have our Chiron in.
9th house? The person may turn towards facts, logic and education (3rd house) to make up for their wounded beliefs (others may have said they're too drastic or simply stupid, or religious trauma etc)
1st house? We tend to turn to others (7th house)
4th house Chiron can indulge too much in their career or public image(10th house)
Not much of an astro note but, any other Libra venus in the 8th house here? I swear I could have been such a flirt if I had it in the 7th house or 9th, LMAO. 8th house venus kind of hides the venus sign's traits. Only when you get to know me I truly display the Libra qualities. Until then I am like :|
Also, talking about libra venus, I saw it get a lot of hate in the community despite it being one of the best venus placements objectively.
If anyone here has Virgo sun in the 7th, please focus more on yourself and less on what others think. It is indeed a quality to be considerate, but you also have to not lose yourself
The ascendnat doesn't only represent looks amd first impressions, but also your identity and self. I don't think ascendant aspects in synastry get a lot of credit, being shunned as superficial and simply physical attraction. I believe they are the representation of how the people involved see each other and shape their identity, what sides they bring out of each other.
I think that the best compability is shown by asteroid Juno. If someone has major or prominent sign placements as your juno sign, then you are most likely a good match (especially if it's mutual)
Mars in pisces may be passive, but don't confuse that with weakness. I noticed that most of the time these people tend to brush off or try to forget conflict, which in the end can actually be beneficial (most of the time, there are moments when confrontation is needed). While some may describe them as fickle, when developed they can be very resillient ngl.
You don't relate to the physical descriptions of your ascendant? That's totally fine! There can he multiple reasons for this, first one being that astrology cannot determine how we look, genetics do that, and second you should look at your ascendant aspects and other planets you have in the 1st house.
I have aquarius rising. Most descriptions say thay we're tall, meanwhile I'm here at 5'2, buuut I also have neptune in the 1st and ascendant conjunct chiron. I don't mean to discredit people who do these descriptions, they're actually accurate! My friend also has an aquarius rising and Uranus in the 1st and they look exactly like that--
I personally love the 5th house in astrology. Mine is empty but I've met some people with stelliums in it and my god they're so fun to be around!
5th house stelliums are naturally focused on hobbies, fun activities, children and the self (not necessarily inna selfsih way lmao). They are most likely very artistic and knowledgeable in their interests.
Many squares to the midheaven can point towards difficulty in reaching dreams, but also lots lots of potential. I've read somewhere that squares are blessings in disguise, so people with an extremely squared mc will have to go through a lot but it will definitely be worth it in the end.
Not much of a note again but I have an empty 10th house but a lot of focus on the 9th and 11th house. If anyone has these as well, are you career/project oriented but very little interested in the public eye?
If you really want to get into astrology, I recommend checking out your vedic chart. You get introduced to a bunch of new aspects and systems, but in the end I personally found the analysis I got very accurate. (You can check out @meandmypeace their blog is very insightful!)
Taurus risings are really down to earth, but I noticed they tend to space out a lot
Oh, you have a Leo venus? Let me tell you how cool you are. My bestie has this placement and my god they're one of the best people to offer comfort and affection. Their way of displaying it is very cute but also rather intense. It makes my libra venus go <3 they love attention and praise but they deserve it too lmao- when healthy they really care for the people close to them and are truly protective of them. Also side note, they may or may not pride themselves in the relationships they have
And that's it. Thanks for reading!

A quick lesson on ships
Tumblr media
Because why not??😌
No but seriously, bare with me, I'm trying to answer your questions. Sit if you have to. Hehe
Uban Dictionary defines shipping as this:
A term used to describe fan fictions that take previously created characters and put them as a pair. It usually refers to romantic relationships, but it can refer platonic [sic] ones as well. (Just think of “shipping” as short for “relationSHIP”.) 9 Apr 2015
Ships can be platonic or romantic or both.
There's fictional ships and non fictional ships too. You ship two people you want to be in a relationship or who already are in a relationship or who you suspect to be in a relationship- perhaps due to queer baiting, ship baiting, romance baiting etc.
In the shipping fandom, there are two sects of people. Those who are Proships those who are Antiships- antis are ironically considered part of the shipping community because for some reason they are always in shippers business💀
Antishippers are those who oppose a particular ship or shipping in general (more on that later.)
Proshippers are well- Pro ships.
Pro-Ship
A term mostly used in fandoms, but can stretch outside of this to include original characters. The core belief is that shipping two fictional characters, no matter if they are family, share ages gaps, considered to be unhealthy, or show blatant signs of being abusive or other generally unsavory behaviours, are valid in a fictional setting.
Pro-Shippers or "anti-antis" are also known as "rainbow meaties" and will use 🌈 + 🍖 emojis together often in their bio on twitter or other social media platforms- usually within fictional settings.
These shippers reinforce the idea fiction is separate from reality and shouldn't be confused with the other.
‘Anti’ is short for ‘anti-shipper’ or ‘anti-[ship]’.
Tumblr media
Kindly read through this thread to get the gist of it.

Tumblr media
Shipping non-fictional individuals is a subset of Proshipping, in my opinion, known also as alternative shipping- as far as my knowledge on it goes.
As with fictional shipping, alt ships have their antis too. People who disagree with shipping real couples in a romantic way for whatever arbitrary moral reasons they have and who feel entitled to go out of their way to correct, stop, police and punish such shippers.
Then there are those who although may be pro real people shipping think they have the right to tell others how they should ship and to what extent they can ship.
Others too prefer to ship real people platonically because they view romantic shipping of real people as problematic.
So to answer your question on Anon's post- there is no such thing as a Proshipper who is also Anti shipping. Thats oxymoronic. Perhaps they might be platonic shippers who are anti romantic ships but not necessarily romantic shippers themselves.
I don't think there's anything wrong with preferring to ship platonically. It is when they assume by virtue of their false sense of moderacy that they are better than others that shit starts to get funny.
Those shippers are delusionally confused beings with a supremacist imperialist complex rooted in ignorance and absurdities.
I usually walk by those quietly. keep it pushing. Gotta mind my business somehow even though most times I just want to pull their hair and bite them and shit😭
I try to keep it classy.
Lord knows I try.
You are either pro ship or anti ship. There's no in between. Those shippers who are shippers but claim they are not are nothing but fraudulent, fake us, simps trying to bamboozle their way through life- pardon my Swahili.
There are a lot of anti shippers moonlighting as shippers in this fandom. It's fascinating.
Personally I think those people are either confused or their desires to appeal to other Anti shippers must have morphed their brains into ass dick hybrids.
Anti shippers in general are notorious gatekeepers, gaslighters, bigots, high key sanctimonious and often have a cis white westernized sense of morality and ethics through which they fliter others and expect everyone and everything to conform to.
They impose their values on others, their ethics on others, resort to manipulation, policing, intimidation and bullying to impose their will etc.
Within shipping, there are those who are Proshipping yet anti certain ships. Most Tuktukkers are anti Jikook. And assume anyone who isn't a tuktukker is equally anti Tae Kook and so go ahead and exhibit anti behaviours towards them.
Think of such groups of shippers as Proshippers with a preference for particular ships if you will.
There are Pro shippers who also feel some kind of way about Shipping real life people or alt shipping.
Here's further resource to help you understand what proshipping is
Tumblr media
If you are intolerant with other shippers choice of ships or style of shipping and you traumatize them for it that's Anti shipping. Especially if you feel entitled and justified to traumatize others because you take a higher moral status over them.
You can be proship and not like how certain people, how they go about
Simply walk away, click off, mind your business. You are not the only adult in these streets and leave people to do what interests them.
I think for as long as I can remember, I've always been a proshipper and I ship both platonically and romantically, fictionally and alternatively💀
Some themes in fiction are a hard limit for me such as the R word, pedophilia, incest, child abuse- I just can never find the entertainment in those topics and will struggle through such themes.
But others believe it's just FICTION and those fictional characters aren't really dealing with the imaginary struggles we read about.
Yall do you sis.
I don't really know why people make a big deal of it or try to demonize the concept of shipping as if it were something strange or mysterious- just keep your moral values to yourself. I am not your mother's daughter. we were not raised in the same households.
Then again I think it all depends on the different cultures and social backgrounds we all come from and how entitled, supremacist or imperialist they are.
For Yoonmin, I shipped them romantically but didn't think they were a real couple at all. I just romanticized their interactions and found humor in it. At the back of my head I was expecting them each to one day find husbands or wives and go their merry ways and even harbored the thought they each could very much be in serious romantic relationships with others.
In similar ways, I shipped Minimoni and Vmin.
You can ship a pair romantically and not think at all that they are actually REAL.
A lot of jokers ship Jikook romantically and don't assume they are real. Just as a lot of people shipped say Elena and Stefan romantically even though Paul was married.
Some shipped Elena and Damon too due to their unscreen chemistry and even felt they could be a thing- that was before later it was revealed they had started dating in real life. Even that I was holding on to my Bonnie x Damon fantasies because Bonnie was my bias and I shipped her with everyone romantically- of course I didn't expect any of those ships to manifest into something because it was the character I was shipping not Kat herself. To this day I still love her onscreen chemistry and friendship with Damon and don't see how people could wish for it to be more than that😭
It was beautiful as is. Not everything should climax into sexual intercourse.
But if I felt at some point any of her ships had crossed into alternative ships I would have jumped on those and supported it whole heartedly.
If you assume a pair are a real couple and dating in real life that's alt shipping- a lot of alt shippers suspect a ship is real and that's why they ship them.
There is no such thing as platonic alt shipping.
And for me personally, because I believe Jikook are a real couple and have made that cross over I don't ship any of that pair romantically with other members anymore.
It's bizzare to me to ship someone I know has a partner romantically with anybody else- I make exceptions for Vmin of course💀
Tumblr media
I know JK is side eyeing me but I don't care.
I want Tae to be happy too😭😭😭
Tae just wants his bestfriend and soulmate😭
It's too much😭😭😭😭😭😭
He stays shooting his shots🤣
Jimin Harem is real🤭
I must admit, I catch myself slipping on Vmin and Minimoni every now and then- old habits die hard and they don't make it easy 😫
But that don't mean I think Vmin is dating. THAT WOULD BE WILD.
Tumblr media
Summary
Proshippers can be Platonic or Romantic shippers and you can ship a pair romantically and not assume they are real at all.
Anti shippers are just assholes trying to beat their values down people's throats.
Alt shippers don't ship their OTP with other players romantically.
I don't know what you mean by Jinkooker...
Do you ship Jinkook romantically or think they are real?? Sis...
Maybe you just ship them platonically or casually.
I ship all the ships platonically.
Especially all Jimin"s Tae's ships. I'd let my self flirt with the idea of romance every now and then.
JK's ships don't make sense to me as ships.
As nonplatonic ships I mean.
I'm fascinated each time I see a hardcore JK x any member ship besides Jikook swearing up and down JK is screwing Namjoon🤣🤣
I hope this helps??

your recent boba and jango posts have me thinking about how in "legacy of the force," boba repeatedly condemns himself for not loving mirta, his own granddaughter, despite clear evidence to the contrary. i was always like "lol idiot can't even reliably interpret his own emotions" but now i'm thinking about it and like... so much of the way he cares about mirta is wanting desperately for her to be safe, happy, and free from his own tainted legacy. what if boba knows damn well that he feels all of this, but because his definition of paternal love comes from jango, whose love for him was defined by an exacting desire for his son to be a perfectly groomed carrier of his own legacy (ultimately at the EXPENSE of boba's safety, happiness, and freedom), that now boba can't even recognize his own feelings as love? and then he feels like he's failed his father by not being as "loving" as he was. when the cycle is one of the few things you have left of your father, breaking it feels like betrayal...
omg i've been so excited to log on and answer this all day lol
ok so. yes thats exactly what I think it is. Jango didn't GET love, he didn't understand it because of what happened to him as a child, and Boba inherited this, only, its way way worse in Boba.
For Jango, he struggles to understand how to show love because he associates it with loss and fear and violence. He might have once known familial love but by the time he has Boba all those memories have been tainted by what came after. But he does have something of a foundation that would allow him to understand how to show it and untangle it from all his mixed up feelings about the rest of it. If he worked for it, he could get there without much of a problem, tho of course he never would have because he's Jango so theres all that denial and refusal to admit he might be wrong.
But when it comes to Boba? His idea of love isnt tangled up in anything after the fact, his entire foundation is rotten thanks to the generational trauma he inherrited from Jango and his absolutely bizzare upbringing with 0 role models to show him an alternative.
You don't need to understand love to be able to love. 'wanting desperately for her to be safe, happy, and free from his own tainted legacy.' this? is a natural human expression of love. but of course boba doesn't see that! when unhealthy attatchement is your baseline, loving someone enough to want them to be free, probably feels like you dont care about them enough.
Where Boba is at, isnt a place thats impossible to heal and grow from, tho he'd have a much harder job of it than jango would, thanks to his early foundation giving him such weird ideas and him never being exposed to anything else in later life (OF COURSE jango's behaviour towards boba is a huge part of this but, i also cant stop thinking about the influence of growing up around the clones would have? seeing them brought up in a way that was totally void of love. seeing how jango acted towards them in spite of them being from him, being the same genetically as Boba. in spite of them being children. like. god. Boba has SUCH a weird frame of reference here and then the life he lives later on doesnt really expose him to anything that would correct his distortions of thought (not that he ever would have let it))
because this is the second part. and youve hit it on your head here. its all about betraying jango. boba can not admit that jango made mistakes, and that boba has something he needs to heal from BECAUSE of jango, because to do so would be a betrayal of his father. his dead father, that boba lost before he got to the age where you see that your parents arent perfect and that they make mistakes. boba undoubtedly puts jango on a pedalstal, he idolises him and is forgiving of things that i really really dont think he would be, had jango survived.
i've played with this idea before of… what would boba's relationship with jango be if jango had survived? i think theres a very high possiblity that there would be a breaking point where all of a sudden he did begin to see that jango isnt always right. that jango had made mistakes. and maybe, to begin to question what this 'legacy' jango wants him to carry really is.
the truth is, boba's determination to do right by his dad, to carry this legacy. to be a bounty hunter and to do what he thinks his dad would have done. using jangos words to introduce himself. its largely thanks to the fact that Boba KNOWS that jango wanted him to carry jangos legacy, he has always known that, but what he doesnt really know is what exactly jangos legacy involves. jango wasnt honest with him. didnt give him all the details. boba wasnt old enough to ask for the reasons WHY, to read between the lines. he doesnt know what motivated jango. he doesnt know what jango wanted out of life, what jango considered to be his legacy, as the last of the fetts. all boba really knows is empty words told to a child. jango made a lot of declarations about his way being the right way, but he never actually explained, there was never any substance to it. Would he have? had he had time? maybe. but boba wasnt old enought to be told in the time they had.
boba cant admit that what he feels for Mirta is love because if he does that, he has to admit that its something jango could have felt towards boba himself, and yet he didnt. its to admit that boba missed out on something, thanks to jango. boba sees Mirta as a person, jango saw boba as a tool. To admit that he is doing right by her with these feelings, would lead to some uncomfortable questions. he would have to accept that jango did not do right by him, and how can boba do that? not at this kind of level. its one thing admitting your parent made mistakes (and thats hard enough) but to admit that your parent didnt love you right? didnt love you in a way you deserved? that there was a different way and they didnt take it? how could boba do that?
jango died his hero, and so jango always will be his hero. to do things differently to jango, to admit that jangos way isnt the best way? that is to betray his dead father, who he loves. Bobas greatest love will always be for this idea of who jango was, before he was taken from him. bobas idea of jango isnt based on facts, the adoration of a child who idolised his father and then lost him, far too early. he was left alone in the galaxy, so to him, jango will always be who jango might have been. the built up idea of a man who never was, based on childish memory, stretched out in to- what if he'd lived? and continued to be that forerver. its a fantasy. and any admission that jango wasnt a good father, wasnt the kind of father figure jango himself would want to be, could bring that fantasy crashing down.
i have lots of thoughts on this lol thank you so much for sending this!!!! i absolutely adore your takes and theyve really helped shape how i see jango
:green_heart: :green_heart: :green_heart::green_heart: :green_heart: :green_heart::green_heart: :green_heart: :green_heart::green_heart: :green_heart: :green_heart:

"Stop telling God what to do!"
Tumblr media
The years 1900 to 1930 were called The thirty years that shook Physics. Because, with the dawn of the new century (1900), a new stream of physics emerged that threatened to shake the very foundations of science. It was called Quantum Physics.
Till the early 1900s, the most accepted theories of mechanics were called Classical Physics or Classical Mechanics. These theories, very clearly, explained the laws governing everyday objects - objects that we see and deal with in our daily lives, like cars, trains, balls etc, as well as large objects, like the Sun, Moon, planets, galaxies etc.
Sir Issac Newton, the father of Classical Physics, explained gravity, inertia, motion, momentum, speed etc. Einstein proposed the General and the Special Theories of Relativity that explained concepts like space-time for very distant objects. That won him a Nobel Prize and made him the first ever science-rockstar.
So far so good. Classical Mechanics was doing a great job. It was precise and deterministic - means, we could predict the position of Jupiter on its orbit around the Sun, 20 years from today, using the mathematics of Classical Mechanics.
Of course, there were still many unanswered questions. And a whole host of physicists were working on them. But it was Business As Usual (BAU).
Towards the start of the 20th century, a few Europeans - Max Plank, Niels Bohr, Shrodinger, Heisenberg and many others - observed that the laws governing everyday or large objects do not explain the behaviour of sub-atomic particles (particles within an atom). The discovery of the electrons, protons and neutrons led to a spate of experiments, debates and theories, which together were called Quantum Physics or Quantum Mechanics.
Truth be told, Scientists found Quantum Mechanics bizzare! Even till date, scientists still find the theories of Quantum Mechanics hard to grasp. But none of them could or can, dispute the results of Quantum Mechanics. In fact, Quantum Mechanics is universally considered to be the most successful theory propounded by science. It ushered in the Information Age. Lasers, Semiconductors, Computers, Telecommunications, Televisions, Electronics etc, all owe their existence to the application of the concepts of Quantum Mechanics.
Quantum Mechanics works. Its math works. No problem. The only problem is - no one knows how it works or why it works that way! That's why many scientists believe Quantum Mechanics is more a branch of philosophy than of science.
Quantum Mechanics spooked the greatest mind ever believed to have walked this earth - Albert Einstein. He famously said - God doesn't play dice! You will see what he meant as you read on.
Tumblr media
Niels Bohr, the Great Dane (he was Danish), worked to defend the theories of Quantum Mechanics. Exasperated by Einstein’s repeated attacks on the Quantum model, he is supposed to have retorted - Einstein, Don't tell God what to do!
This tension between Classical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics went on for a long time and was also called The thirty years war.
I have been reading up on Quantum Mechanics for some time now. Like layers of an onion, I keep getting clarity on one aspect after another, all in due course. I am still a long way from getting it all, but I find it all so fascinating that I want to share it with you. And I think a good way to understand all of this is by understanding what was called The Double Slit Experiment. Here goes!
Tumblr media
Consider a bunch of marble balls, shot through a double-slit barrier (a barrier with two holes on it) onto a board placed behind it. They will create a distinct pattern on the board, hitting it straight where they were allowed to pass through. The remaining part of background board will be untouched. Why? Because particles travel in a straight line. That's their fundamental nature. That's Classical Mechanics. Simple so far?
What if a bunch of electrons were to be shot through the same double-slit arrangement onto the same background board? How would they behave? What pattern would they create on the background board? Since all matter consists of atoms, and electrons are a part of atoms, so electrons should behave like particles, right? But they behaved very strangely. They created the below pattern on the background board.
Tumblr media
There were stripes of alternately bright and dark patterns on the background board. Some electrons even hit the board straight behind the opaque parts of the double-slit barrier. How's that possible? The background board looked something like this.
Tumblr media
The scientists conducting the experiments knew what this pattern meant. This pattern could only be made by a wave, not by a particle. The below 4-second video explains how a wave creates this pattern. By the way, this pattern is called an Interference pattern.
How's this possible? Was it possible that electrons were waves? But that is absurd. They were particles - sub-atomic particles.
So, scientists reluctantly came to a bizzare conclusion - Electrons were both particles and waves!
Further experiments were even more bizzare. Scientists now decided, not to observe only the pattern on the background board, but to observe the electrons also. What they found made them think they had gone crazy!
The moment their observation apparatus was switched on, electrons reverted to their particle behavior. But when the observation apparatus was switched off, the electrons took on their wave character. Look at the interference pattern on the background board.

Spooky, right? Someone articulated these observations as below.
Observation changed the nature of electrons! An unobserved electron has a wave function. An observed electron has a particle function.
From here on, it gets even more bizzare, if that is possible.
One quantum physicist suggested that the wave function of an electron suggests the probability of finding it at any particular point. If that point is a crest (a wave's highest point), the probability of finding it there is maximum. If the point is a trough (a wave's lowest point), the probability of finding it there is the lowest. But to find it, you have to observe it. And the moment you observe it, the electron takes a particle nature. With particles, life is simple. The electron is either there or not there. No probability. Absolute certainty.
When Einstein heard this, he blew his top. Probability, my foot! This is not Science, he must have thought. "God doesn't play dice!", he asserted out loud. He said this once too often, without offering an alternative explanation.
Niels Bohr, who was also struggling to reconcile with the bizzare conclusions of Quantum theories, but convinced that the consistency of the results of the experiments was proof enough that the theory was right, retorted, "Einstein, Stop telling God what to do and what not to do."
Niels Bohr was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1922 for his work in understanding the theories of Quantum Mechanics.

Almost a century has passed between then and now. In the intervening times, Quantum Mechanics has proposed many more bizzare theories like Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Teleportation etc. Unanswered questions about a Unified theory of everything led modern science to propose strange and stranger theories like String theory, Multiverses (multiple universes) and Cosmic holograms.
I have just begun my journey of understanding the frontiers of modern science. And I cannot help but observe the stark parallels between what modern science is dabbling with today and the timeless tenets of Sanatana Dharma. More on it later!
