“Vendel really needs to get on organizing all this shit,” you called back to Blinky. Currently you were halfway stuck between a fallen broadsword and a chest of daggers the size of your face. You could barely hold the heavy blade up, as it was just an inch taller than yourself, and you felt the chest dig further into your back as a nervous squeak passed your lips.
A second later you were rescued, Arrgh lifting the sword like a twig and offering you a smile. You sighed, wiping your hair from your eyes. “Thanks, buddy.”
“You’re welcome,” he nodded.
Blinky appeared at your side, watching as not farther off, Toby struggled to pick up a large warhammer. “Hmm. Yes. I’ll bring it to his attention.”
The pair of you grimaced as a loud clatter came from further into the storage, followed by Jim’s cried out, “I’m fine!”
You let out a small laugh. The Heroes Forge really needed some work. After that last encounter with Bular, Jim decided his friends needed to be able to defend themselves too, which brought you, Claire, and Toby here, into the depths of the Trollmarket armory.
So far, everything was so... troll sized. If only every sword magically readjusted to its wielder’s height (but not every sword was Daylight).
You pass down the halls of the armory in a patient stride, trying to find something small enough to actually lift, when a glint from the darkness caught your eye. Pausing, you turned. There weren’t any lanterns or torches lighting the way, but down this hall, you saw a subtle red glow.
Obviously, you went to check it out. “Hey guys?”
Jim was at your shoulder in an instant, somehow, probably some secret power that amulet gave him (honestly, it was annoying that Merlin couldn’t have made a spare that you could conveniently happen upon one day).
“What is that?” he wondered aloud as you both came to stop before the dusty wooden table at the end of the path. Shields and broken blades laid forgotten on the floor, shoved aside by heroes past. A gnome skeleton sat haunting against the corner, hollow eyes sending shivers down your spine.
No one had been down this hallway in a long, long time.
Atop the table lay a shimmering silver cutlass, the blade so stark against the gloomy doom hanging in the air.
“Great Gronka Morka,” a voice sighed behind you. Blinky rushed forth, hands hovering over the weapon, before he stepped back like he was scared to be near it. “We must be very deep in the armory... very deep indeed.”
You, by your nature, stepped up to it, not understanding his hesitation. “What is it?”
All six of Blinky’s eyes zeroed in on you. “Only the most dangerous piece of equipment in this aged place...”
You turned to side eye Jim, brows raised, before you humored Blinky and motioned him on with a hand. “Okay... So what’s up with it?”
Blinky stuck out two arms and guided you away from the sword. Claire, Toby, and Arrgh emerged from the dark, curious eyes taking in the weapon.
“That,” said Blinky, all so serious. “Is the long sought after War Starter... the Coveted Cutlass... the Bane of Arthur--”
“Speed it up. Please.”
“That,” he continued. “Is Mordred’s Dagger.”
Crickets would have fit nicely in the silence, you thought, leaning away from his raised arms like he were telling some kind of ghost story. You pushed his hands down, nodding. “Dagger? That’s a sword, buddy.”
“To you humans, yes.” Blinky once again hovered his two right palms over the weapon. “But to us trolls? A toothpick.”
You just stared at the blade again, quirking a brow. “War Starter, huh? Looks harmless to me.”
“How dorste thou so?”
The sword’s hilt burned a golden light, a deep and foreign voice erupting form the dark. Every one of you jerked back. Jim quick changed faster than Barbie as his armor donned him. Daylight appearing in his hands.
You leaned forward in the following silence, only to jump again when the sword glowed off and on as it seemed to cough hoarsely.
“Seyeth som reward to youre eldre men!” The sword continued to clear its throat (?) whilst the lot of you stood in silence.
You were the first to break it. “You... can talk?”
The sword scoffed. “Of course I kan! Whethir ye han nevere come a blessid blade?”
You raised a hand and blinked dumbly. “Slow down, my guy. Too many words.”
“Hmm,” the sword grunted, seeming to think. “Is... Can ye... understand this?”
Before you could answer, Blinky pulled you back. “Stay back. We don’t know its motivations.”
You just crossed your arms at him. “It? Come on, Blink, we talked about this. Don’t assume. The sword can talk, so the sword can think.” You turned your attention to the sword. “Sword, uhm, do you mind being called it?”
The quiet that followed wasn’t exactly comforting, but the edge of the blade still glittered a dim gold that must have meant the sword was pondering. “I... Well, no one hath ever called me but that.”
“Is that was you want to be called?”
The sword again hesitated, whilst Toby eyed you weirdly. It was a sword, for crying out loud, and he didn’t understand why you were asking. He nudged Jim with the intention of sharing a little laugh with him, only to find Jim watching you with something lovestruck in his eyes.
Toby glanced at Claire, finding not a hint of mirth in her eyes as she too seemed to wait for the sword’s response. So he dropped it, suddenly also wanting to know if this sword had a preference on pronouns. He paused. That was a thought he’d never, even after everything, thought he’d have.
“I prefer to be referred to as male,” the sword decided after another few moments.
Blinky pursed his lips and sighed. “Stay away from him.”
“Thank you, troll.”
“Don’t thank me, King Killer.” Blinky eyed the sword warily. “Do not be fooled, friends. That weapon has toppled kingdoms.”
You cast the sword a glance. “Have you?”
“On occasion, aye.”
Oh. That complicated things. “Are you evil?”
“I’m only what my wielder has me be.” The sword sighed. “Lord Mordred was... unkind.”
You looked back at Jim with sorry eyes, feeling your sympathy rise as your friend came to stand at your shoulder again. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
Blinky was getting antsy, his eyes flickering this way and that. “I do think its time we return to the Forge, don’t you Arrgh?”
“Yes. Time to go.”
“Oh,” said Sword. “I understand.”
You grabbed onto Blinky’s cold stone arm then, and suddenly your usual sass was drained from your face, and all that was left was your vulnerability. “Come on, Blink. We can’t leave him. I bet he’s lonely back here.”
“I am rather lonesome.”
Blinky took you gently by the arms, eyes imploring you to understand. “He is deceiving you, Y/N. Mordred could not have lifted that hilt if the sword had not chosen him. That is what makes him dangerous! No one can lift that sword unless he decides they are worthy.”
“You really think a sword so picky?”
Again, all eyes fell on the sword. “Truly, I only thought Lord Mordred to be a skillful swordsman. That is all I use to differ those who dare to attempt my hilt. He’d trained since birth. How was I to know he’d use me to kill his father?”
Sword went silent, his words trailing off. “How... how was I to know he’d be so cruel?”
The crack in Sword’s voice sent you over the edge, your eyes boring into Jim, as if he could somehow convince Blinky to change his mind. It wasn’t likely. Blinky was stubborn, but so were you.
Jim just stared back at you, something in him softening for the sword. “Maybe you should start judging people on more than their sword skills.”
“Indeed.”
“Please,” Blinky begged. The rasp in his voice caught you off guard, and now you listened to him with a newfound transparency. “I beg you... both of you. Walk away. I’ve seen what this sword can do of his own accord.”
Claire inched forward, wrapping her hand around your elbow to catch you attention. “Maybe we should go. Blinky could be right. What if he’s tricking us?”
“But I...” Your words fell short, and you found yourself staring at Sword. His hilt gleamed yet his blade looked dulled by age... or perhaps by use. You shuddered despite the warm humidity of the armory.
“Come on,” Claire said softly, tugging you with her as Blinky and Arrgh turned back. Toby eyed you and Sword sorrily, before following after them. Claire gave up, rubbing your shoulder as she left you and Jim alone.
In the quiet only disturbed by the dewy drops of water somewhere far off and the receding steps of your friends, you stared at that sword.
“Are you lonely?”
“Dreadfully... Goodbye, my liege.”
Jim took your hand, fleetingly, before squeezing it and letting go. “Come on.”
He turned as well, but you remained. Their footsteps echoed away, banging around in the sides of your head, until you made a decision.
Your hand closed around the hilt of the evil sword, and you pulled with every bit of your power. The rim of the blade glowed a subtle whitish yellow, in contrast from its previous red, and the sound of the sword scraping against the table as you hefted the cutlass up rang through the hall.
You stumbled back from using too much momentum, not having expected to actually have lifted him. The tip of the cutlass hit the ground, and Sword let out a little grunt. You flexed your muscles and marveled at how the sword gradually got lighter, at how the glow grew brighter.
“Y/N?!”
You turned the blade this way and that, grinning from ear to ear. Something about how Sword was glowing told you he was smiling too.
“Do you have a name?” you asked him as Blinky practically ran toward you with the others in tow.
“Sword.”
You hummed. “That’s a little impersonal, don’t ya think?”
“I do not have a proper name, my liege.”
“Can I give you a name?” you asked. Jim came up beside you, if only to keep Blinky from ripping the blade from your hands.
“Whatever you wish.”
“I wish you’d call me Y/N.”
“As you wish, my--Y/N.”
A smile grew on your face when Blinky tried to reach past a surprisingly immovable Jim. “How about Cal?”
“... I liketh it.”
“Y/N! Put that down right now!”

Trollmarket was beautiful. The underground city was full of colorful lights, even with the market empty the place looked alive. Immediately, Y/n’s eyes found the heartstone. The gigantic cristal and it’s warmth light left her completely speechless, even made her forget, for a moment, the possibility of her brother dying.
“Where’s everyone?” Y/n asked. She was excited to meet Jim’s new friends and the creatures his book depicted.
“Probably waiting for the fight” explained Toby.
“Oh, right” she took her eyes from the heartstone and looked at her brother “Don’t worry if you die I’ll bring you back” she joked.
Jim gave her a half smile. They were both terrible at hiding their fear.
“Master Jim! Welco-ah! Witch” Blinky stopped mid greeting.
“Blinky! This is my sister Y/n!”
“Oh! My apologies, I must've confused her with someone else!”
“You know a lot of humans?” Y/n lifted her eyebrow confused.
“Oh…well” Blinky’s arms fell down to his side but he put them back up fast “Come on, master Jim. A…great warrior always…shows up in time…” he started pushing Jim to the hero’s forge.
At the forge all the trolls were already excited, filled with the rush of battle.
“Hey, I… I want you to have this” Jim gave a letter to Y/n and another to Toby.
“What’s this?” Asked Toby.
“It says everything I want to say”
“You promised me tacos”
“Now is not the time for lunch, Tobes” Jim scoffed.
“Last week, the three of us went for tacos. I paid. You said, ‘Next time on me’ You’re going to get this letter back unopened after the fight, and when you get back, we’ll get tacos”
“He’s right, Jim. You owe him tacos” Y/n smiled.
“Tacos sound good” Jim laughed.
“Draal, son of Kanjigar, son of Tarigar, Draal “the destroyer”, come forth.” Vendel, the white troll announced.
A spiky blue rock started rolling down a path, jumping in the air transforming into a big blue troll with six horns.
“That’s Draal?” Y/n whispered to Toby “He’s huge”
“Yeah” he sounded as worried as her.
“And now, Draal’s combatant, James Lake Jr, son of…Bar-bu-rah. Come forth human trollhunter”
The crowd started booig the second they saw Jim.
“Fight from your heart, Master Jim. It’s strong, stronger than any rock” screamed Blinky.
They close the arena and Blinky said quietly to himself “And certainly, stronger than mine”
But Y/n heard him.
“Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.” she reassured “He has to”
Y/n could hear Toby, Aaaarrrgghh and Blinky speak but she couldn’t pay attention to anything they were saying, only the troll trying to kill his brother.
“And, I am Jim, son of Barbara and the amulet choose me”
The flying axes send Draal over the edge of the arena.
“Yes! He did it!” Celebrated Toby.
“It’s not over yet” explained Blinky.
“He has to finish the fight” completed Y/n without taking her eyes off her brother. She had studied the book all night alongside Jim. She knew what her brother had to do next, what the crowd was asking him to do next, they were screaming for death.
Jim grabbed his sword and Y/n closed her eyes. She couldn’t look at her brother killing someone.
Suddenly the crowd was booing again. Y/n opened her eyes and saw her brother standing next to Draal.
“Look, I may not have followed your rules, but neither did the amulet when it chose me. Right now, over our heads, changelings are in Arcadia..”
Fear and confusion filled the room.
Blinky and Toby ran to Jim before he could unveal the secret.
“What is he talking about?” Screamed Vendel.
“You’ll need a Trollhunter who doesn’t have to live in the shadows. This is a time to work together. They’re building the Killahead—“
“STOP! Say no more! We must leave this instant!” Blinky grabbed Jim by the arm.
“Killahead” Y/n repeated. The word left a metallic taste in her mouth.
“Oh, praise! You’re alive!” Toby hugged Jim like he would disappear
“And sore. Ease up” Jim chuckled
Aaarrrgghh and Blinky were called by Vendel before they could celebrate the trollhunter’s victory.
“He opened the letter” Y/n laughed.
“I can tell”
“I didn’t” Y/n smiled and gave Jim back the envelope “You can tell what you wrote if you want but I can’t read the words you thought would be your last message to me”
Jim took the letter and smiled back at her.
Y/n turned and started walking. The tears were escaping from her eyes and she didn’t want to be seen like that, especially now, when they were celebrating.
“Remember just a normal teenager and his older sister and their normal life” Jim said more to himself than to Y/n.
“Hi, mom. We’re back!" said Y/n while she took her jacket off. A shiver ran through her spine.
‘Strickler?’ She thought. The same uneasiness she felt when she met him was running through her spine again.
She walked behind her brother and saw that it wasn’t Strickler with her mother but a woman.
“In here. Jim, guess who brought tea?”
Jim stopped in front of the woman that was accompanying her mother. Y/n recognised fear flashing in her brother’s eyes but his face suddenly shifted back and started kicking Nomura out. Y/n wanted to stop his brother but Barbara passed out before she could do anything.
“Mom?” She ran to her mother.
“That speech was very moving” The woman left the table “Too bad she won’t remember it when she wakes up and find your body”
She grabbed Jim and threw him to the kitchen.
Y/n hug her mother trying to protect her from the fight.
“What’s going on?” She screamed.
“Go upstairs!” Jim told her sister.
“Jim I won’t …”
“Go!” He screamed while grabbing his backpack looking for the amulet.
She went and hid in the bathroom, her brother quickly joined her.
The troll whistled a song letting them know she was close.
“Not creepy at all” whispered Y/n.
“Yes! Thank you!” Jim grabbed the amulet from behind the mirror.
Before the troll could open the bathroom door someone grabbed her. Y/n and Jim shared a look and went out to investigate. In their backyard, Draal was fighting the troll.
“What are you doing here?” Screamed at the woman-troll.
“Delivering you pain again, Nomura” Draal answered, shielding Y/n and Jim “Do not touch the Trollhunter”
“Suddenly you’re honorable? Sorry to hear about daddy. Bular always liked the way he screamed”
The fight started again and quickly finished when Draal threw Nomura through the air.
“You were right”
“So, you’re not here to kill me?” Jim asked with his sword in his hand.
“Not kill. Protect” Draal looked at Y/n. She smiled at him.
Jim thanked the troll.
Draal quickly started to walk around the house looking for a place to stay.
“Since I can’t go back to trollmarker I’ll stay here, guard your home”
“I don’t think my mom would be down for that” said Jim.
Draal went downstairs to the basement. Eating a piece of coal and taking a couple more out of the heater he said “This is nice. Here I shall protect you, your witch and your fleshbag mother, Bar-bu-rah”
“What did you call me?” Y/n started walking up to him half confused and half offended. Why were the trolls calling her a witch?
Jim stopped his sister from fighting his new protector “Mmmh close enough” he laughed.
“Your mother will awaken soon. I protect. I don’t clean”
Y/n rolled her eyes and went upstairs along side Jim.

So, the miracle happened. You woke up. Full of confusion obviously, imagine waking up in the middle of a what? A cave, surrounded by trolls, looking at you with curiosity. Wait, is that piece of heartstone under your nails, what. One troll approached you, you assume he was the leader, from the looks of it. He introduced himself as Vendel. You struggled to get up, it felt like you hadn’t used your legs in a very long time. You wanted to introduce yourself, but your throat was parched. Vendel stopped you and signed to the other trolls to bring you to a room following him.
In there, he gave you a glass of water and said, “I know who you are, apprentice of Merlin. Centuries ago, he brought you here in dire need, and told us he needed the heartstone to help you,”.
And that’s where you learned that you are in the Trollmarket, home for the trolls, along with what transpired within the time you were unconscious. Merlin found a way to embed you in the heartstone which synergizes with your magic and helps to save your life due to its healing properties. You realized Merlin left the fact that you are Camelot’s princess, seeing Vendel address you as Merlin’s apprentice. And you chose to keep it that way, you remembered your last wish, for nobody to remember the princess of Camelot, you.
You spent several years in the Trollmarket, getting back on your feet. It was not easy, at first, the trolls were wary of you, a human. You tried hard to get yourself back on your feet. Over time, seeing your determination and your attempts to befriend them, they opened their hearts around you. There are still some that disagree with your existence in the Trollmarket, but they didn’t do much aside from snark and pranks here and there. Vendel, however, was different, you can feel his indifference to you, true, you being human plays a part in his dislikes but you find out he really is just looking out for every troll. As a leader, he must stay composed at all times, something you learned being the figure back in Camelot. But he found your talent at life magic interesting and decided to teach you how to utilize that magic better. Within your years in the Trollmarket, you learned how to do your magic better and some basic combat training. You also learned about trolls better, their habits, their likes and dislikes, and many more.
But you always miss the sun, sure you get out sometimes to help the trolls either with hunting or escaping from the Gumm-gumms, but it was always at night. You missed the smell of the grass in the morning, the way the sun warms your skin, you missed life in the daylight. So, after several years, you decided to embark on a journey, to see the world, and see how much of it has changed.
And boy, how much has it changed. You felt like a fish out of water, you felt like a newborn where you have to learn anything, including how to clothe yourself to match with the people (well you know, trolls are not exactly the right example of how a human should be dressed).
About Camelot, you’ve heard about the battle of Killahead from the trolls, along with the things that happened within the time you were in a coma, but hearing from humans, however, turned it into another story. Funny how things could change one or another, especially the ones supposedly with you in it. But neither mentioned the information you wanted the most, about a certain wizard’s apprentice. You wondered how Douxie had become. You remembered how he was dreaming to be a master wizard, is he one now? Or did he find a new dream?
You’ve spent most of the years living in the daylight, being with other people’s company that just comes and goes, seeing how things changed. But you also like laying low and enjoying teas from cafes, a hobby you found quite familiar yet comfortable in a way. Not to mention the things you’ve learned, both magic and nonmagic stuff, learning always excites you.
Then come the 1970s
It was quite an interesting year, any era would do the same to you, fascinating how an era could create changes within the people. But this one is different.
You were in a bar, something that you were not used to, but enjoyed from time to time, not because of the drink, no, the drink was just an accessory to you. You enjoy the environment, the feeling of rowdiness, how people bonded on nights with the liquid truth, or just the fun. You didn’t quite remember the name of the place really (is it moonlight? Moonlit? Moonacre? Alas the name just keeps slipping away)
And there he is
The 1970s was something in Douxie’s experience, meeting the Beatles (great lads with great music, he always said), the fashion is something he could get used to. Tonight, however, he just wanted to relax with some familiar faces and Archie.
You almost ran to him, you almost called his name, and you wanted oh-so-badly to run into his arms. But you didn’t, you remembered the thing you don’t want to recall the most, the memory spell. There’s no way he’d recognize you. The spell was meant for permanent activation. Instead, when he and Archie took a seat (fortunately) near you, you just tried to listen while taking a look at him. He looks a tad older (considering almost 900 years have passed, but ehh who’s counting), he changed his hair, it looked pretty cool with those blue streaks, it suits him. His laugh, god, how much you missed the sound of his laugh, how much you wished that you were the one he laughs with.
You swallowed the bubbling tears rising up your throat and drank your beer, which turned out to be a bad idea since the drink’s bitter and you dislike the feeling. But somehow the bitterness just makes you laugh at your own condition, bitter drink for the bitter one.
That laugh made Douxie’s head turn. It was not loud, barely heard by anybody else, but there was something to your laugh and he heard it. He catches your eyes and you quickly turn away, but then you heard the sound of the chair being dragged in front of you.
“Hi, I’ve never seen you around here, you new here love?” that smooth endearment causes you to look at him, did he just, call you what now? The Douxie you knew never used endearment, he was too shy to do it, he was a moppet (with a man bun ;) ) did you mishear him?
A hand waved in front of you, “you alright love? Do I have something in my face?” he smiled
You did not mishear.
“No, uh, I’m alright, good” you tried to calm yourself by drinking, bad move. You choked on your drink instead.
“Woah, slow down, careful…” he said softly patting your back
Great, you just embarrass yourself, seconds after meeting him. This wasn’t good. You put your hands covering your heated face. “I- I’m sorry, I—“, then you heard him chuckle, lips lifting to a soft smile.
He took your hand that was covering your face, and his hazel eyes once again found yours
“How about we repeat the introduction again, I feel like we put ourselves in the wrong shoes, we could put our better shoes this time, what do you think?”
Maybe this is your second chance?
“Let me introduce myself once again, I’m Hisirdoux, Hisirdoux Casperan, you can call me Douxie, nice to meet you!”
“I’m (y/n) (l/n), Nice to meet you too Douxie”

What gifts would the troll hunters like to receive? Also, what would they give ? (For the Christmas headcanons!) 🧐
Jim: Cooking supplies are always appreciated but you'll get a Chisrtmas kiss if you get him vespa parts or mods for his vespa.
Jim is a quiet observer. He'd get you that thing you've been eyeing for awhile but haven't committed too yet. He may also get you something thats sweet and sentimental. He's kind of a sap.
Claire: She'd love concert tickets to Papa Skull but any theater related merch is also cool. If you got her a signed Broadway poster or tickets she'd probably cry.
Claire knows everything about you so whatever it is you'll like it she's sure of it. If her parents bought her tickets to Broadway or a concert you'll be her first pick to be who comes with her.
Toby: Anything related to Sally Go Back or GunRobot is an instant best friend for life. But video game merch or something you made holds a special place in his heart.
He'd get you matching fandom t-shirts and would be excited to rock them at a movie night. He may also get you a video game you can play together or something else thats fun that you can both enjoy (like board games).
Arrrgh: Doesn't understand the holiday but any gift will make him overwhelmingly happy. He keeps whatever you get him close at all times unless he deams it fragile. Than it stays in his den somewhere safe. (Would particularly love tasty human food he can't get that's on the surface or something homemade)
He'd find you some pretty crystals or a cool trinket from TrollMarket as a thankyou. Nuzzles will also be coming in aplenty as he wants you to know how much he appreciates the gift and how kind you are too him.
Blinky: If you find him an old book in good condition or some rare human classic he'd be eternally grateful. He also likes human antiques. He takes great pride in his library and laments how human classics in good condition are nearly impossible to find due to being a troll.
In return he'll get you something only found in TrollMarket. Maybe it's something magical from Rot N Guts or an ancient artifact from Vendels library. Whatever he gets you will be memorable and something that'll make you just as excited as your gift made him.
Draal: Any weapons or battle armor is highly appreciated. If you get him something more meaningful or home made however he will treasure it always and swears to protect this sacred gift you've given him.
Draal would likley give you a weapon of some sort and than offer to teach you how to weild it. Though he may find himself buying you something enchanted as well, like a protection charm or a similar object so he always knows your safe.
Vendel: Potion supplies he can't easily get that grow in the sun or something made with love will make this old goat man soft. Being thought of in such a tender way makes him happy and he'll be in a much lighter mood. If you join him for glug later in the troll pub he'll tell you some crazy stories as a way to thank you.
This old man would gift you with a book from his collection he thinks you'd enjoy or something he no longer uses that he knows you will. His library is full of hidden treasures and antiques, he's sure one of these things will make you light up in happiness.
Mary: Makeup or gift cards is a good go too but something more personal would make her feel special. If you bedazzle something for her by hand or make her something for her room she'll love it forever. A girls night out or a promised one on one hangout is always appreciated as well.
She'd likely get you tickets to someplace where you can have fun and take cool pictures all day. Maybe an amusement park, a concert, the museum, or a movie event. She wants to take you out for a fun time.
Darci: Any sports gear or gift cards for music are a good idea. She spends hours at different team events mascoting when she's not participating on the team. So if you gift her audiobooks, music, or anything to pass the time in the mole suit she thinks of you while enjoying the presents.
She'd likley gift you with school sports tickets so you two can hang out while she's on the bench but she might also get you tickets to a trampoline park or an escape room. Something active and memorable that you two can do together.
Shannon: A new sheet music book with some guitar accessories or art supplies would be awesome. Shannon is a creative soul and having a friend who not only understands but encourages that behavior makes her happy. She just may make you something as a gift for the gift.
As I said before she's a creative soul. Shannon will most likley give you something unique and homemade but she also has a way with money and may give you a gift card to your favorite place with a home made decorated and well thought out card.
Steve: He will literally be stoked to receive any kind of present from you. I feel like his mom worked hard to raise him and didn't always have extra money around so presents weren't always an option in his younger years and if they were they were small. So if you take the time to get him something no matter what it is he loves it. (Anything sports related is totally up his ally though)
He's not the best with gifts but he'll really look for something nice. He wants you to know he cares for you and tries to find something you'll love. He decides to take you on a date on his vespa before giving you the gift blushing the entire time.
Eli: Anything involving computers, gaming, fandoms, spy gear, or alien conspiracy is something he'll remember forever. Eli is just happy to get a gift from someone other than his mom so whether you feel embarassed about it or not, don't. He'll treasure anything from you.
As for gifts Eli's proabbaly searched your entire Amazon wish list. He knows what you want and he's gonna give it to you. Your so important to Eli and he loves being able to spoil you since you do the same for him.

Fire Keeper: Chapter 20
Douxie x fem reader
Masterlist in Bio!
Series Summary: You are Jim’s older sister who is taking a break from college and has moved back home to Arcadia. You end up joining Jim and his friends on their adventures.
Chapter 20 summary: Battle of Killahead time.
Douxie made sure to heal your hand before you arrived to see the trolls. You supposed he wanted to make a good impression on your brother and you having your hand burned wouldn’t help him.
You went through Claire’s shadow portal and stepped into a stone cave. Jim and Callista were there and so was...Vendel. You froze in the middle of the portal and Douxie bumped into you as he came through.
“What’s wrong? Douxie asked, half leading you half carrying you away from the portal.
“That’s Vendel,” you whispered, tears already pricking your eyes.
You didn’t have the time to explain more as Claire popped in. “Hey, that's my boyfriend you're operating on!”
Vendel jumped “Oh! Humans! Sound the alarm!”
You heard a faint swoosh as Arthur came through the portal. “Hold! Please, Vendel of Dwoza. I humble myself before you. Camelot needs your help.”
“And why should we help Camelot?” Vendel asked, side eyeing you as tears rolled down your face. They weren’t tears of sadness or joy at seeing himd, you weren’t really feeling any exact emotions, you were just overwhelmed. Seeing your late mentor in the past could do that to you.
“-Camelot has been devastated,” Arthur was saying and you realized you had zoned out, just staring at Vendel through your tears.
Vendel sighed “Perhaps we could talk about this in a more private setting?”
“Of course,” Arthur said and Vendel led him away. You followed them out into a bigger room where Vendel and Arthur stood by a wall to discuss while a ring of knights guarded them. It made sense to have guards, but unfortunately they weren’t just guarding, they were keeping you and your friends from hearing the conversation.
Douxie kept his arm wrapped around your shoulder in silent support as you tried to listen.
Gumar the Black's swarm of Gumm-Gumms are ready to strike. The monsters seek vengeance on both our kind,” Arthur pointed out.
“And after all you've done, you expect us trolls to fight in this war for you?” Vendel asked, jabbing a figure at Arthur.
Arthur shook his head. “No, not for me; with me, as equals.”
“Glorkus me!”
“I vow, if we win this war, we shall live in peace.”
“Gumm-Gumm's are terrifying warriors while we are but humble gravel miners. How do you expect us to ever defeat Gunmar?”
“We will give you a secret weapon,” Arthur said.
Jim came up behind you. “You really think they can work this out?”
You and Douxie turned to face him. “They have to, or everyone in Camelot and Dwoza are doomed.”
“Then so is saving history. Great,” Claire grumbled.
“I assure you, all will be fine once I've completed my amulet,” Merlin promised as he walked over to your little huddle. “So, this is the once and future Trollhunter I've heard of. May I have a word, alone?”
Jim shrugged. “Um, sure. Be right back.”
You let go of Douxie to give him a quick hug. “I’ve missed you.”
“I’ve missed you too, and it seems that there are some things I missed out on,” Jim said, looking at Douxie.
“I’ll explain everything later,” you promised as Jim walked away. You moved back over to Douxie, but decided to face away from Arthur and Vendel. Everytime you looked at your old mentor all you felt was a heavy crushing sensation in your heart and lungs. It felt like you couldn’t breath at times.
You had lost Vendel in such a horrible way and at such a horrible time. It killed you inside that you couldn’t warn him of Usurna’s treachery without fear of messing up history.
You recalled when you had first met him, you had snapped at him when he didn’t believe your brother would be a good Trollhunter and after you had calmed a little he had offered an apprenticeship to you. You hadn’t been onboard with having Véndel as your teacher, but he grew on you, the two of you had just gotten off on the wrong foot. And from there he grew into a father figure for you, just as Blinky had for Jim. He had always been a silent supporter of yours, encouraging you in your practice of magic.
You were once again snapped out of your musings by Claire. “I think they’re done talking, we should go discuss what’s gonna happen next,” she suggested and the four of you walked over there. “Hey, is everything okay? What are you talking about?”
Jim glanced nervously and guiltlily between you and Claire. “Oh, um... nothing. Just Merlin prepping me for the trip home.”
Douxie smiled. “Wait, wait, wait, you finally finished the Heart of Avalon? It's working?”
Merlin nodded “Indeed. But first, we must survive the battle to come.”
“Wizard,” Arthur called, interrupting any further conversation. “We've reached an agreement. Now you must convince the crowd.”
You and your friends stayed on the ground while Arthur and Merlin went up to a rock balcony that looked over an area of Dwoza. It was interesting how much cozier it was here than in the other Trollmarkets which were much more open concept. You would have enjoyed exploring it more had you not had other more important things to do.
“Trolls of Dwoza, hear us now!” Vendel called.
Arthur cleared his throat. “As we speak, death comes for us all. But we bring an offer of hope.”
Douxie grinned at you and opened the time map. “Here comes the light show.” A string of golden sparks flew out of it and around the room before converging into a bright ball. The ball glowed brighter before becoming a large projection of the amulet. It flew across the room where another projection appeared, showing Killahead Bridge. The Amulet found its place on the bridge and a portal opened up, consuming projections of gumm-gumms.
“I've designed a grand weapon, an amulet which will choose the greatest warrior among you to banish the Gumm-Gumm menace from our realm and become the Trollhunter!” Merlin announced. You cringed when you saw how the crowd of trolls reacted to the name.
“The amulet's power will activate Killahead Bridge, once a border between our worlds, turning it into a magic prison for Gunmar and his brood, trapping them in the Darklands and ending this war!” Arthur explained, trying to call attention back to the main goal.
“I, Draal, Dwoza's strongest, shall be chosen for glory!” Your head snapped up when you heard that voice. You couldn’t believe Draal was there too. He seemed just like himself, trying to earn the amulet. You felt more tears pool in your eyes when you remembered what had happened to him. He was yet another person you could not warn of future events.
You glanced over at Claire and Jim and you saw that their eyes were misty too. Douxie came over and wrapped his arm around you again gently wiping away a tear that had slipped out. You smiled up at him and took a deep breath. You’d have to stay focused and fight to keep your time together in the future intact.
“The battle will not be easy. While the wizard builds this am-yoo-let, the king's men will train our bravest,” Vendel announced.
Lancelot stepped forward. “Indeed. I shall guide the-“
Steve jumped on Lancelots back, startling the knight and making you laugh to which Douxie responded by looking at you with pure adoration in his eyes. “Yeah! Knights Steve and Lance here to whip you big hosses into warriors! Krav Maga! Turtle stance! Whoo! Ah! Hee-yaw!” Steve yelled, earning more laughs and a few cringes from you and Douxie.
Arthur ignored Steve’s outburst. “Then we ride for Killahead to draw Gunmar out.”
With those final words everyone cheered.
~~~~
“Well, it seems we may have a shot at surviving this after all,” Archie said as you walked through a hallway.
“One shot is the best I can offer. When Killahead activates, it shall unleash a surge of magic across the realm,” Merlin explained coming up behind you.
“Just enough to power the Heart of Avalon for a trip through time!” Douxie exclaimed.
“But only one, which means everything must go according to my plan. Hisirdoux, with me. I need your assistance.”
Claire smiled as Merlin left. “At least we're reunited. We'll get through this... together. Come on, I wanna take you somewhere.”
“Uh, you two take a beat. Merlin and I have still got to actually finish the amulet all our hopes are riding on,” Douxie said going off after Merlin.
You hesitated, trying to decide which way to go. It didn’t seem like Merlin needed you and Jim and Claire were going on an impromptu date.
Douxie turned to look back at you. “Coming, love?”
“I’m actually gonna stay here and train. Good luck with the amulet,” you said and Douxie nodded.
“I’ll meet you when you're done.” He gave a wave goodbye and you went your separate ways.
You made your way to the training grounds and looked for a sparring partner however all the trolls declined, so you went and found yourself a rock.
You hummed to yourself as you practiced your swordsmanship and spells. For a years worth of Magic practice you were quite good if you did say do yourself. You had learned so many new things and you were so proud of yourself.
You leapt into the air, using your magic to push you up and sent a fire spell down at the rock. The spell hit the rock and it lit up with magical flames.
You waved your arms, calling the orange fire back to you and got ready to attack in another way. However, a tap on your shoulder interrupted you. You jumped, startled and whirled around only to find Douxie there. Your eyes were immediately drawn to the staff he was holding.
“Hey there, darling. How’s practice going?” He asked, an excited smile on his face.
“‘How’s my practice going?’ You got your staff! That’s so cool! You totally deserve it.”
“I-yeah.” He looked away from you and you could see that he was still holding himself to impossible standards. You moved closer to him.
“Hey, don’t give me that look you are such a great wizard.”
He leaned down to kiss you. “I guess I’m pretty excited.”
“‘Pretty excited,’” you scoffed. “You had such a big smile on your face when you walked in here. You are way more than ‘pretty excited’.”
“Fine I’m really excited and I can’t wait to use it. It’s gonna be nuclear.”
“I bet.”
Your conversation was cut off from stretching into the topic of the battle when Archie called for you guys, “Merlin is ready to reveal the amulet!”
“Coming!” You called back. Douxie offered you his arm and you took it as you made your way to the cozy little meeting room.
“Today, the amulet will choose one of you to defend your people, to hunt these trolls who have betrayed your kind. You will no longer fear the daylight. You will wield it as the Trollhunter,” Merlin announced and you grinned, looking about for Deya.
Callista scoffed. “Let's see which one of your brown-snouters gets picked.”
Draal stepped forward. “It would be my honor.”
Douxie looked over to Merlin who nodded. “For the Glory of Merlin... awake.”
“Whoa, whoa!” Callista exclaimed as the Amulet flew around the room, from troll to troll. You watched as it eventually settled on her.
“Rise, Trollhunter... and become,” the amulet said.
“Uh, I think your amulet has the wrong troll,” Callista protested.
Merlin shook his head and walked over to her. “No, the amulet does not make mistakes. For whatever reason, it has chosen you. Speak the incantation. Find your purpose, the savior of our worlds.”
Callista’s eyes widened. “Me? I've never been chosen for anything.” She admired the amulet and began to read the inscription. “'For the Glory of-‘“
Draal cut her off and you frowned at him. “Bushigal! It chose Callista the Calamity? She's basically a fleshbag.”
“This is the humans' big plan. The only place that outsider will lead us is death!” Another troll called.
“Ignore them. Accept this honor,” Merlin pushed.
Callista stutumbled, backing away. “No, they're right, I'm not a hero. I'm not even good at being a troll.”
“Go on, say the words!” Merlin yelled as Callista ran off.
“Cal, wait!” Jim called.
Callista briefly turned back. “I... I can't do this!”
You and your friends went to run after her, but Vendel stepped in front of you. “Is this some sick human joke? I believe you fleshbags have done enough damage.”
“We're doomed!” A troll behind you cried.
“Gumm-Gumms are coming for us and we've wasted time with your silly games!” Draal growled.
“We must hide!” Another added.
“We all must fight as allies,” Merlin argued.
Vendel scooted. “You think just because your king gives us a shiny toy, you can buy our loyalty? Leave, and take your trinkets with you!”
“The amulet chose Callista?” Archie questioned as he flew to a ledge behind Claire. You and your friends had retreated to another room after the whole scene and you were worried that things might not turn out. You took a deep breath, trying not to panic.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, wasn't Deya the first Trollhunter?” Claire asked and you nodded.
“She was, Deya the deliverer. But I never met any trolls named Deya here,” you explained.
“Either way, without one, Killahead will be a bloodbath,” Douxie pointed out.
“I think I know where Callista went. Claire?” Jim prompted and a portal opened, swallowing them.
“What about the king? Doesn't history need him at Killahead as well?” Archie questioned again. He was making a lot of good points.
Douxie nodded. “Don't worry, I'm on it.”
The two of you made your way to the surface and you looked for Arthur’s aura, you had a good idea of where to look though and you found him.
He was kneeling by the edge of the cliff where Morgana had died, his crown discarded behind him.
“You should talk to him, he might still want to arrest me,” you whispered to Douxie.
“I’m sure he’s forgotten all about that, but I guess it’s inspirational speech time,” he mumbled, walking out of the trees towards the king.
You watched with Archie, but Arthur didn’t seem to be getting cheered up.
“Maybe you should go help him?” Archie suggested and you nodded.
“Let’s hope I don’t get arrested.”
“Who are you, boy?” Arthur asked as you walked towards him.
“I am Hisir-I'm nobody.” He sighed. “History won't remember me. Stories won't be told about me, but I won't let that stop me from fighting for what is right. You are Arthur Pendragon. No matter what happens today, I know for a fact that your story will be told. But it's up to you what legacy you leave behind-- an epitaph... or a legend.”
“But who will stand with me?” Arthur asked.
“I will,” you spoke up, wrapping an arm around Douxie.
“Galahad, stands with his king!” Galahad yelled, coming up on a horse.
“I will stand with you!” Lancelot vowed.
“Sir Steve's got your back, King-o!”
“And I,” Douxie added.
“You'll need air support,” Archie called, flying around you and Douxie.
Arthur grined. “Then let Camelot be remembered as the warriors we were born.”
“Huzzah!” Everyone cheered. You looked over at the setting sun and sighed. You had read so much about the Battle of Killahead and now you were participating in it. You could only hope the outcome would be the same.
~~~~
You arrived at Killahead bridge just as the sun began to truly set. Half the clearing was shaded and the other half was light, but that wouldn’t last long. You summoned your sword and a few daggers and got ready to fight.
You stopped at the tree line and looked up to see Gunmar and his army gathered upon some rocks.
“One king cannot stand against an army, Arthur!” Gunmar taunted as Arthur stepped forward.
“It's a good thing he has an army!” Douxie countered as the rest of you came out of the trees.
“Perfect! More meat for my troops. Beserkers, tenderize them!” Gunmar roared. You watched in horror as Gunmar sent some of his soldiers to their deaths. The moved into balls and rolled down into the clearing, turning to stone once they got into the sun.
“Living cannonballs! Look alive!” Archie warned. You leapt into the air as one got near you. You looked down and winced as you saw soldiers get taken out.
“We must hold Killahead Bridge, no matter what nightmares Gunmar throws at us,” Merlin ordered.
“Arthur, I can smell your fear!” Gunmar called and you could tell that he was growing impatient.
“It's leaking out of his pantaloons!” A gumm-gumm joked and you rolled your eyes. Arthur’s aura was radiating fear, but his courage and determination almost covered it up.
Gunmar laughed. “Prepare to be crushed!”
“Knights of the Round Table, our battle cry will shake the heavens and awake the old gods to witness. Today, we say 'no more' to fear and darkness! For Camelot and glory!”
Douxie turned to you, Jim, and Claire. “I know the Trollhunter isn't here, but we are! Champions! And when I get us all home, brunch on me! For Camelot!”
“For Camelot!” You all echoed, getting ready to rush into battle.
“USA! US- uh...Cam-e-lot! Cam-e-lot!” Steve chanted.
“Hisirdoux, our fates may be uncertain, but there's one thing I am sure of—I chose you well.” Merlin gave a small smile and gently nudged Douxie.
You took a breath. “We’ve got this.”
Douxie looked at Merlin and then you, determination shined in his eyes and radiated off of his aura. “Let's show these blokes the power of wizards!”
“For Camelot!” Arthur cheered as the sun finally disappeared. You, your friends and the rest of the army charged down into the little valley and you immediately blasted two gumm-gumms, though two more took their places. It worried you that Gunmar had so many soldiers.
You leapt into the air and sent a fire spell down, cutting through the enemy lines.
“Heads up!” You heard Claire yell as she came through a portal and kicked away a gumm-gumm. The beast stumbled backwards and you sent a knife through it.
“Just in the nick of time,” Jim thanked.
Claire chuckled, but was cut short by Jim wincing. “We're getting through this... together.”
You sent a quick pain relief spell at Jim then you turned your attention away from them and towards Douxie. He and Archie were taking care of things, but as you landed another gumm-gumm came up from behind. You raced over to him and when the gumm-gumm swung your sword was there to meet him. Douxie quickly moved out of the way and you dropped your sword, sidestepped and blasted the brute in the back.
Douxie turned and blasted a gumm-gumm that ran at him and stabbed one next to it. Another leapt into the air, but before it could hurt either of you DOuxie created a blue beam that trapped it in midair. He killed it and did the same to two other gumm-gumms.
“Arch!” Douxie called when he caught more in his beam. Archie dove towards you and set fire to the beasts. “Ha, ha! Always hated those twits!”
“You’ve got to teach me that some time,” you said, leaping high into the air. You curved and dove face first towards the ground, letting gravity build your momentum. At the last second you twisted again, using magic to keep you from breaking anything, and sent a magic ripple across the ground, taking out about a dozen gumm-gumms. You swayed a bit, not expecting the toll that modified spell would take on you.
“You’ve got to teach me that,” Douxie mimicked and you smiled at him, sending daggers through the gumm-gumms that were right behind him.
“Fight on! The day isn't over yet!” Arthur encouraged. Suddenly you felt a very dark aura enter the battlefield and you looked upwards to see a portal open.
“Night has already fallen.” Morgana yelled. She raised her arms as she touched the ground. “Elemen-zath!”
A blast similar to the one you had just made, rippled through the air. “Demon witch!” Galahad cried.
Douxie looked to you. “Morgana's returned! She's enemy number one!”
“Go! We'll hold the bridge!” Jim said, looking at you.
“Hisirdoux, with me!”
You hesitated, looking between Jim and Douxie. You watched as Jim winced slightly as he moved his arm.
Douxie turned back and you made eye contact with him. “Stay with Jim!” Douxie said, giving you a quick hug.
“Stay safe,” you called back as he ran off towards Merlin. You hopped you had made the right decision as you rejoined the battle fighting alongside your brother.
“Rally, Knights of the Round! Humanity will not go quietly this day!” Arthur called. “With me! Drive them back!”
“Yeah! I ain't afraid of no creeps!” Steve cried charging back into battle.
You raced away from them as you saw a few knights almost get the better of Bular. Swords clanged as you raced past the battle, feet barely hitting the ground. When you arrived you jolted to a stop.
You could outright help Bular, you had to be sneaky. A gumm-gumm came up from behind you and you whirled to face it, an idea forming. It swung its sword at you and you created a shield to meet it. Normally the sword would have bounced harmlessly off the shield, but instead you sent yourself flying backwards, crashing into the knights that were fighting Bular. Honestly they shouldn’t have been standing so close together if they didn’t want to be used as bowling pins.
Bular roared, running off into the ranks to pick an easier fight. You contemplated going after him to make sure he didn’t die and history stayed the same, but you decided against it when you saw him join up with Gunmar.
You apologized to the soldiers and went off to help Jim and Claire fight.
You took down gumm-gumm after gumm-gumm, even trying out the spell you had seen Douxie do. Though the spell you used most was your fire spell, it seemed to do the most damage and could hurt more gumm-gumms.
A blast of Excalibur’s magic radiated through the battle ground and you used the excess to try your spell again. You flew into the air twisted and hit the ground again, sending off another strong blast. Your orange magic turned many gumm-gumms to stone, but there was always more, just as there had been when you were fighting Angor Rot and his golems.
Your celebration was cut short however when the ground shook and a wave of heat hit you.
“The Arcane Order? They're here?” Claire cried.
“We may have come to the end of days! Charge!” Galahad ordered and you had to admire his bravery. You ran to face them with the knights and when one sent a fire spell towards the knights you put up your arms. The force of the spell sent you backwards, but you held your ground. You grunted and sent the flames back at the order, careful not to hurt Nari. She may have been bad now, but you understood that in the future she changed.
More knights rushed to take on the order and you fell back to help Jim.
“Y/n, give me a boost!” Jim called. You sent a wave of Orange magic towards him and he leapt into the air, coming down behind a line of gumm-gumms. They didn’t even have time to react before Jim turned them to stone.
You took care of any behind him, sending daggers at them.
“Y/n!” Claire warned and you whirled around to see some of the monsters charging at you. Before you could react, Claire sent you through a portal and you landed on top of a gumm-gumm’s shoulders. You blasted his two friends and flipped off of him, twisting in the air and performing your spell. The blast radiated around you and you immediately moved to fight more.
You sent spell after spell, fighting alongside Claire and Jim and occasionally Steve. You all watched each other's backs. You mimicked the beam spell Douxie did earlier, turning a gumm-gumm to stone
Suddenly Morgana’s aura was back and you snapped around shocked to see her completely unharmed.
“Brother! We have some unresolved issues,” she hissed.
Arthur stumbled back. “Sister? You're alive? Stop this! Our blood is the same.”
Morgana called. “Is that so? Then let's spill some of yours and make sure!”
You raced to Arthur, ready to take on Morgana yourself. You didn’t know what had happened to Merlin, Douxie, and Archie, but it was the unknown that scared you.
You watched as a golden light brought Arthur to his knees. “You were right. It is like you said.” He dropped Excalibur and you got ready to shield him if necessary. “We are all the same. I have wronged you, as I have all creatures in my realm. I now fight to save them from the violence I have sown. This carnage, these deaths, we can end this.”
Morgana hesitated and you slowed to a stop too. “This-this is a lie. A trick!”
Arthur shook his head. “No, this is our redemption. I should have listened to you.”
While you had been ready to guard against Morgana, what you hadn’t anticipated was the arcane order to teleport in and end him.
“Brother! No!” Morgana cried.
“Merlin's puppet is gone. Go finish it! Show us your loyalty, Morgana!” The fiery one ordered and you tensed ready to fight Morgana.
Her hands glowed gold and a blast radiated through the air as she let out an anguished wail.
“What have you done with Douxie!?” You asked, send a blast towards her. It hit her, sending her backwards, but she didn’t fall.
“What does it matter?” She asked, sending a blast towards you. You leapt into the air, ready to dodge it and pounce on her, but when you hit the ground she had disappeared.
You looked around for her, but she was nowhere. Panic and fear for Douxie and Archie coursed through you as you made your way back to Claire and Jim at an inhuman speed.
You jumped into their battle and took down five gumm-gumms, your anger and fear giving you the power.
“My king!” You heard Galahad cry and you looked over to see Arthur was no longer giving off an aura.
“Their king is dead! Leave no survivors,” Gumar ordered.
With that the gumm-gumms seemed to get a burst of energy. They overtook you, Jim, and Claire, forcing you to your knees. You began to squirm and chant a spell, but a disgusting piece of gumm-gumm armor was shoved into your mouth. It didn’t stop you from trying though as one raised its sword to kill Jim.
You broke free and sent a blast at all of your captors, freeing you. More of the monsters came to take their place, but a horn sounded, distracting them. You looked over to see Callista.
“Hey, need some help?” She asked. “Because I brought some friends!”
“Yes! We are here to not run away!” You heard Blinky yell.
“Well said, brother!” Dictatious said.
“Let's show these glorkheads how a real troll fights! For the glory of Merlin, daylight is mine to command!”
You watched in awe as she charged. A blue glow erupted from the amulet, slightly blinding you as she ran into the valley. Her armor came onto her piece by piece as she took down gumm-gumms. She was amazing.
“Callista, glad you made it!” Jim said as you all fought some of the remaining beasts.
Callista turned to all of you after she finished. “It's Deya, actually. It always was.”
“Deya?” You all echoed. A smile lit up your face.
“History is on track!” You cheered, but your smile faded fast when you recalled all that had happened before Callista arrived.
You turned to Claire. “I need to find Douxie.”
“I’m on it.” A portal bloomed and you readied your sword. “Be careful, I’ll come and help soon.”
“I will, let’s just hope that they’re okay.” You took a shaky breath and jumped in.
You walked out of the portal only to be blasted with a golden beam sending you into a wall. Apparently Morgana had gone to finish her fight with the wizards and your boyfriend was okay.
With that thought you fell to the floor. The breath was knocked out of you and you laid there, trying to find the strength to get back up before Morgana realized there was another magic user in the room.
“She's too powerful! We have no choice but to seal her away!” Merlin yelled.
“I know. I'll try to buy some ti-“ Douxie was cut off and you felt heat radiate through the room.
Morgana laughed. “Oh, shame! Little Douxie finally gets his staff, just in time to die with it!”
You finally gathered the strength to get up, your fear for Douxie once again consuming you. THankfully you noticed him lying on the ground on the opposite side of the room. Merlin had pushed him out of the way.
You took some deep breaths and created a shield around yourself. You watched as the fire cleared away, revealing Merlin to be in chains. Morgana charged and began to fight Douxie. He met her every move, countering her, but you didn;t know how long he’d be able to hold her off.
“You can't even wield it! You should stick to your usual tricks.” Morgana taunted and you realized that while she was distracted by Douxie, you could go free Merlin.
“Use the power of your staff! Make it your own!” Merlin encouraged Douxie as you came up to him. You put a figure to your lips to quiet the old wizard as you worked to undo the chains.
You carefully peaked around him to watch the battle and you were rewarded with the sight of Douxie’s staff transforming into an electric guitar. He raised its tricking Morgana in the face.
The witch stumbled backwards. “What?!”
Douxie admired the guitar. “Bleeding balroths! This is nuclear!”
Morgana put a shocked hand to her face. “Did you just strike with a-a lute?”
Douxie shook his head. “Uh-uh-uh-uh. No, uh-uh. Spellcaster guitar, darling.” He strummed it. “Needs tuning, though.”
Merlin groaned. “I meant make it your own weapon!”
“Well, this is technically an 'axe',” Douxie joked, earning a silent chuckle from you. He began to play more.
“Hisirdoux, this is no time for dreadful music!” Merlin scolded.
“Dreadful?” Douxie scoffed.
“Absolutely infernal,” Morgana agreed and you were tempted to reveal yourself to compliment Douxie’s music, but you thought better of it. You’d make sure to do it later though.
“No worries, this is just the opening track!” Douxie said, playing louder.
“What do you hope to do? Blow out our eardrums?” Merlin asked and you whacked him.
“Stay quiet,” you hissed as you got to the last bit of chain. “You don’t want Morgana to know I’m here.
“Well, pardon me if this rock is too freakin' awesome for your medieval sensibilities!” Douxie countered and you laughed, forgetting you were supposed to be silent. Thankfully Merlin covered it with a cough.
Morgana held up her staff. “Enough of your noise!”
Morgana sent a beam of golden magic at Douxie who tried to counter, but you could see him struggling. “And...nope. Plan B,” he yelped, jumping down.
As they fought Morgana overpowered him and you watched as Douxie fell. Morgana sent a blast at Douxie who shielded himself, but he was quickly thrown against the wall, barely able to keep himself safe.
“Do not fret, Merlin. You'll find a new apprentice to replace him. Are people not dispensable, after all?” Morgana taunted, but her celebration was premature. Archie soared towards her, blasting her with fire just as you freed Merlin. He called his staff to him and you held out your hands. You and Merlin sent blasts at Morgana, giving Douxie the time he needed.
“Archie! Arch, light me!” Douxie requested. He heard out his hands and blue fire swirled around the room, creating a ring around Morgana.
You got ready to join the fight, but the fire quickly faded to show Douxie hovering in the air with a frozen Morgana. “Hurry! I can't hold her that long!”
Merlin brought his staff down and a green symbol grew out from it, creating a circle. “You've lost yourself, Morgana! Bound to dark magic. I have no choice but to seal you away! Sigilia infractum!”
Suddenly you and Merlin were pushed back as Morgana broke Douxie’s hold. “Master!” Douxie cried, rushing to Merlin. You noticed he seemed to be bleeding shadows.
Merlin groaned. “She's too powerful! You have to finish this alone.”
Douxie nodded, standing up. He placed his own staff down and began to chant. “Sigilia infractum! Causera!”
“I will destroy you all! No matter what it takes, no matter where you go, I will end all that you love until you feel my agony!” Morgana vowed, sending a blast of magic at Douxie. You threw out your hands sending a shield to him, but before it could hit a shadow portal appeared consuming it.
“Hey! Hands off my teacher!” Claire yelled.
Morgana scowled. “I swear on your lives, I shall rise again!”
Claire scoffed. “Already seen it. You don't win. See you in 900 years!”
Douxie completed the spell and you ran over to hug him, but instead he just fell into your arms.
“Douxie!” You cried.
“Douxie! Are you okay?” Claire asked as Archie jumped onto him.
Douxie yelped as Archie started licking him. “Ugh! That's-that's disgusting!” You and Claire laughed at him.
“At least you’re safe.” You smiled.
Douxie sighed. “Well...I think we just saved history.”
“And took down a ninth-level sorceress,” Archie added.  “Merlin would be proud.”
You all looked over to see the sleeping wizard. “Yeah, if he wasn't out cold,” Claire said.
~~~~
Now that the battle was over, it was time to get your affairs in order and go home. You had mostly enjoyed your time in Camelot, but you were definitely homesick and you really missed Mao.
“Everybody, ready yourselves. We don't have much time. I'll dial us in for when we left,” Douxie said as he stood at the helm of the castle.
“But what's gonna happen when we get there? The danger we escape, it'll be waiting for us. And Jim's still hurt,” Claire reminded.
“Yeah, we need a plan or something. Can you encase Jim in the gem like Merlin did?” You asked.
Douxie looked at you and Claire, pity shining in his eyes. “Claire, Y/n, about that... Jim is-“
“Ready to face the inevitable,” Jim interjected.
Douxie hesitated. “Jim, are you sure?”
“Jim?” You and Claire asked.
Jim sighed. “Claire, the shard in...There is no cure. That's what Merlin told me earlier.”
Claire took a step back. “That's crazy! We can find something! I'll learn a spell. We can stay here.”
Jim shook his head. “If we don't all go back right now, the future won't exist. And what kind of hero would I be if I sacrificed everyone else? Not to be ironic, but we're out of time.”
“No, no, no. We can’t be out of time, you’re only sixteen,” you protested.
“Douxie, tell him! We can fix this! You can fix this!” Claire cried.
Douxie looked away from you. “I'm sorry. He's right. We must go back now, but when we do, we'll find a way to reverse this. I promised I would return you home, and I am, but the portal can only stay open for a few moments. This is our one shot. Trust me.”
Jim shook his hand and you hugged your brother tightly. You weren’t ready to let him go, but you relented and joined Douxie.
“You said to make the tough calls, old man. I hope I'm doing the right thing,” he mumbled. He hit a switch on the time map and you watched as the rings around the Heart of Avalon shifted till they were aligned, creating a bright beam of light and your portal home.
Douxie helped you to the boat and you jumped on.
Claire helped Jim over. “There has to be another way. This isn't fair!”
Jim gave a sad smile. “That seems to be a reoccurring thing with us. You sure you wanna keep dating me?”
Claire mimicked his smile. “I'd date you for a hundred lifetimes, Jim Lake.”
A tear fell and Jim wiped it away. “Hey, we'll figure this out. We always find a way to save each other.”
You and Douxie walked over to the helm and he put his staff in. “It’s gonna be okay,” he promised you.
“Man Camelot was crazy! Why don’t they ever talk about that in the history books?” Steve asked, walking to the bow and earning a chuckle from you.
You gently leaned it to Douxie as you went through the portal. “My burden to bear,” he whispered.
You shook your head. “We’ve got this. We’ll find a way to make everything right.”
Trollhunters Aaarrrgghh x Reader (Draal’s Sister) One-shot Part 1
Hi this is my first one-shot, so i decided to do a Trollhunters one but with Aaarrrgghh cause I don’t really see many stories or one shots of this guy and maybe a story with the love-able dude, cause he’s so fluffy and cute.
Spoilers if some of you haven’t seen the much of the first season.
This will be after Draal loses his arm trying to rip out the amulet from Killahead bridge.
/////////
It was another busy day in Heartstone Trollmarket, trolls either going over to the tattoo parlour or going over to the bar for a drink with there friends. The gnomes running all over the place and pinching what they could as some trolls ran after the little vermin's.
Peering around the corner, Draal’s little sister Watched as a large Troll walked through the area on his knuckles, His green fur looking soft in the crystal light while one of the surface creatures walked next to him, talking about something called a Nana; whatever that my be.
As she was watching the two, the young Troll didn’t notice her big brother coming up from behind her. “What are you doing Y/N?” He asked, causing Kanja to let out a surprised yelp not only attracting attention to herself from nearby Trolls but also the one shes been as the surface creatures say ‘head over heals for’.
Seeing this Y/N quickly ducked away embarrassed of the situation that transpired.”Draal, you , you, rock head!” She snapped, reeling her fist back a punching her brother right in his nose.
Feeling the pain of his sisters punch, Draal held his nose as he shot a glare towards his sister, his teeth clenched.”You don’t need to punch me.” He groaned, pulling his hand away from his nose only to put it back and rub the spot that she hit him.
“Well you shouldn’t have snuck up from behind and scared me, now he’s going to think that I some kind of weirdo.” She Snapped before burying her face into her hands, feeling her stone face heat up.
“Cheer up sis, it’s not the end of the world.” Draal said, clapping his iron hand over his sister’s shoulder. “Who is it that you were spying on?”
“Why should I trust you?” She questioned looking up at her brother.
“Because at the moment we are the only family we have right now, so who is the lucky Troll who has captures my sister’s heart?”
“It’s adghashg.” She mumbled, her head down as the last part coming out fast.
“Sorry what was that?’
“It’s  Aaarrrgghh.” She finally said, her head still down and avoided her brothers eyes.
“Ah I see you fancy him as you mate?”
“Yes.”
“Then why don’t you just talk to him?” He asked, clearly confused as to why she was just hiding behind a wall.
“It’s not that simple, last time I tried to talk to him it just came out as a messy and he looked at me funny.” She sadly said
Humming in thought  Draal came up with an idea that might work in his sisters favour. Looking down at her, he had a smile on his face that made Y/N both confused and worried. “Why don’t you come to the forge with me and help train the young Trollhunter, I’ve seen you watch us train him and I can tell you wan to help too.”
Giving it a thought Y/N agreed to help the new Trollhunter, even if it means that she’ll be near and seeing the Troll that she fancy. “Alright fine.”
Making their way over to the forge, Y/n hid behind her brother as they walk feeling the many pairs of eyes staring at her. As the daughter of the previous Trollhunter and brother of Draal the Deadly, everyone in Trollmarket dubbed her as Y/N the scaredy Troll and picked on her, to which led her in hardly leaving her and her brothers home but ever since he was defeated by the Trollhunter he now lives in the Trollhunters basement and Y/N tends to stay in her home only leaving when in need of food.
She didn’t like hanging around some of the Trolls as they tend to pick on her and her size. Her stone skin is the same colour as her brothers but a more darker blue and she is half the size of her brother ruffly the same height as Blinky but strong just like Draal as she too did the same training that he did when waiting to be chosen as the next Trollhunter.
Almost making it to the forge the two mostly Y/N were stopped by another Troll calling out. “I see Y/n the scaredy Troll is out of her home, for now.” Called out Bagdwella, Smirking down at Y/N to which she felt really confident all of a sudden as she glared at the female Troll.
“Why don’t you just choke on a bone or something Bagdwella?” She challenged, causing the surrounding Trolls that we’re watching gasp out in shock of Y/N’s sudden bravery.
“Why you little imp.” Snapped Bagdwella, bearing her sharp teeth at Y/n only for her to let out a deep and menacing grown back.
This was a total shock for Draal as he has never seen his sister act like this at all, normally she would be shy and scared; hiding behind him as he snapped at the Trolls that would pick on her but now she was the one defending herself.
“Try me you over grown vermin.” Y/n said her growl coming out louder and deeper, her fiery blue eyes boring into Bagdwella’s as her friends came to her as back up
Before anything could happen next, the sound of something fast coming their way caused many Trolls to move out of the way so as to not become one with the walkway as the Trollhunter and his party arrived at the scene.
“What is going on?” Called out Blinky, looking at Draal for an explanation. “One of the Trolls told us that there was a fight going on.”
“It’s my sister Y/n, she’s all of a sudden snapped at Bagdwella.” Draal said, pointing over to his sister who was in an attack position. “She’s been like this only twice and the only options is for someone she deeply cares about can knock some sense into her.”
“Who did it last time?” Asked Jim, looking up to Draal.
“Last time it was our father, it never really worked for me so I’d leave her be and let her calm down herself only to come back to a destroyed forge.”
“Ah, yes I remember Vendel not being to happy about that.” Blinky said, resting one of his hands on his chin as he looked down remembering that particular time.
“Well who will stop her now before she destroys Trollmarket?” Panicked Toby, looking over at Y/n terrified of what she might do.
“She will kill me if I say.”
“Draal, if she decides to fight her, I do not know what the possibility would transpire.”
Giving it a good thought Draal slowly nodded his head and let out a large sign before looking at the large Troll in front of him. “Aaarrrgghh, can you please get my sister before she does anything stupid.”
Nodding his head Aaarrrgghh, let out a low grunt, making his way over to the small female Troll, who was still glaring down at Bagdwella and her friends. Coming up from behind her, Aaarrrgghh let out a deeper growl towards the other Trolls threatening Y/n.
Something deep down inside of him felt drawn to the said Troll he was towering over, the markings on his body glowing brightly. With one arm Aaarrrgghh scooped Y/n  in his protective hold and letting out a roar at Bagdwella’s group causing them to run away frighten of the previous General of the gumm-gumms.
Blowing out a snort, Aaarrrgghh picked Y/n up and placed her on his back, the markings on his body disappearing as he walked towards the forge, the whole Trollhunter group watched him walk away with jaw dropping expressions.
“I’ve never seen Aaarrrgghh act like that at all and I’ve seen him do that plenty of times but nothing like that.” Exclaimed Toby, watching his giant friend walk away with Draal’s sister.
“Ah, Aaarrrgghh has finally shown his true feelings for Y/n, splendid.” Cheered Blinky, supper proud of his friend for finally making his move; sort of.
“Ah, we should head over to the forge as well.” Clare pointed out, making her way over too.
“Yes and we should also see how those two are doing.”
Leaving the area, rest of the group made there way back to the forge.
Now in a more calm piece of mind Y/n found herself laying on Aaarrrgghh’s back, her hands gently gripping on his green fur as she buried her face, the sent of moss and earth causing her to relax more.
“You OK?” Questioned Aaarrrgghh, looking over his shoulder sounding pretty worried.
Nodding her head Y/n kept her face buried in his fur, gently gripping on it as if just the feeling was like a life line for her, an emotional anchor. “Yeah I am now , thanks to you.”
Y/n walked the dark, empty streets of Arcadia like she has done many times before. The wind softly tried to dry the tears but they were falling faster than nature could do its job. She could feel her feet barely lifting from the ground. It was over. She had failed. Vendel was dead and Jim had been exiled into the deep. A master wizard trained by Merlin himself and she couldn’t even keep his first human champion alive. A wizard that couldn’t keep her little brother alive.
“Even the word hopeless isn’t void of hope, right Blinky?” Jim quoted his master.
“Jim, you can’t go” Y/n said in vain. He was going to leave no matter what she said, no matter how much her hand shaked.
“Don’t worry” Jim stretched his hand to her and she immediately took it “Merlin said I was gonna have to fight. And I’ll fight” he smiled at her.
“Merlin” The name made Y/n body grow weaker. The hand that was holding Jim’s fell to her side and was replaced by Claire’s.
She walked, like many times before, purposeless downtown. Her eyes were lost in the blue. Maybe, if she walked long in off, she would be absorbed by the sky and none of this would be happening. Maybe, some balance would be restored.
Jim’s words echo in her mind “Merlin said”
Y/n closed her eyes and tried to shut off her brother’s voice but only made a distant, smaller voice stronger “Why is it always like this?”
She tried to drown the voices while she walked but she couldn’t. The whisper grew until it was a scream beating into her chest, until she had to stop in the middle of the street and use a tree for support.
“Please” she whispered to no one as she took her shaky hand to her chest. The pain was becoming unbearable.
“Y/n?” A woman called, putting her hand on Y/n’s shoulder “Y/n?”
“Why is it always like this?” Y/n exploited, tears violently falling to the ground.
“Y/n, what happened?” The woman grabbed both of Y/n’s shoulders, her green eyes full of concern.
“It’s not fair…It’s always what Merlin says. There is no space for what I want…or what I…feel…” Y/n hid her face behind her hands, sobbing violently.
“Oh, birdie” she hugged her.
The nickname made her cry ever harder.
“Look at me” she whispered into her hair and pulled apart to look at Y/n into her eyes “Y/n, I promise you, one day, we’ll have our place in the world. We will no longer have to hide”
Y/n nodded, enamored with the idea of this world that she has been hearing about since she was a child.
“And you will be by my side, sister” she smiled.
“I’ll always be by your side, Morgana” Y/n hugged her.
“Y/n!”
“Y/n!!”
Y/n blinked. She was no longer hiding in the deep of night, it was the middle of the day and she was back on Arcadia.
“Y/n!”
“Blinky?” She looked around for the troll and saw him in a tunnel “what’s going on?” She ran to him but as she got closer she saw he wasn’t alone. The tunnel was filled with trolls. She took a step back, the guilt rising in her stomach for running away and leaving them to their own devices.
“Come with me! Jim is alive! Gunmar is building an army! We need your help!” The troll pulled her by the arm before she could walk into the sun.
“What?!”
Y/n and Blinky went back to TrollMarket to help keep evacuating trolls when they were cornered. The trollhunters and a group of trolls that were ready to leave by gyre were ready to fight once a cursed Draal broke through the wall when Y/n felt something in the air. With each hit to the wall Y/n’s hand would get farther away from her staff. The human part of her wanted to fight until her body gave up but the wizard part of her wanted to see it played out.
“Wait, Claire, what are you doing?” Jim screamed
Y/n turned around and saw Claire on top of the stairs, clutching the shadow staff.
“There’s another way”
“You can’t make a portal that big” Screamed Blinky
“It’ll kill you” screamed Toby
“If we do nothing, we’re all dead. You would do the same. You did do the same” Claire screamed back.
Y/n smiled when she saw the determination in her eyes. She knew the look all too well.
“Claire, wait” Y/n pushed through the crowd of trolls and ran to Claire.
“I wasn’t thinking. There’s gotta be another way” Jim insisted.
“Guys wall breaking” announced Aaarrrgghh.
Jim ran behind her sister to get to her girlfriend but it was too late, Claire started the spell before Y/n could get there. The shadow magic invaded the room, pushing Jim to the ground. The room filled with purple smoke and the shadows started to eat Claire’s body.
“It’s killing her” screamed Jim from the floor.
Y/n jumped to grab the staff and take some of the pressure off of Claire. She closed her eyes and felt the magic flow through her, welcoming the familiar cold feeling into her.
She could see Jim, Toby, Aaarrrgghh, Blinky and NotEnrique coming to help but she couldn’t concentrate on it, too distracted by the nostalgia that the amount of magic was giving her.
The moment was over as quickly as it began. They were safe in the woods but Y/n felt the emptiness, the loneliness like it was the first time, as if Morgana was being torn from her again.
Y/n sat down on the grass as the trolls celebrated their new leader, Blinky. And for a second she felt like she was back on that cliff watching the sea swallowing her all over again.
Y/n opened the door to Douxie’s apartment and let her bag fall to the floor. Her body was devoid of strength.
“Hello, love” Douxie whispered from the couch, his eyes half opened.
Y/n turned around and smiled at the image of Douxie sprawled on the couch with Al and Archie nestled on the left side of his neck. He must’ve fallen asleep after his shift at Benoit’s.
“Hi” she whispered back, kicking off her shoes “Don’t get up” she laid next to him, placing her head on top of his chest.
“Everything okay?” He grabbed her waist and pulled her closer.
Y/n grabbed his shirt and closed her eyes, letting Douxie’s heartbeat washed away all the sadness of the day “I am now”
As she was falling asleep, she heard Morgana’s voice in the distance “My child, we are linked now. Now and for all of time. Your essence and mind, we are one”
Y/n sat on the floor and observed Vendel work on her mother's injuries. She sighed. If only she could be the master wizard that Al insisted she was, her mother wouldn’t be in this situation.
“We’ll have to move her to the heart stone” Vendel turned to Y/n before starting to fix Strickler's wounds.
She nodded “She can’t heal like this can she?”
“No. She can’t” Vendel answered.
“Is there something we can do about the spell?” She asked.
“I’m afraid not. It’s Gumm-Gumm magic and thus, I don’t know the proper incantation” Vendel explained.
Y/n sighed again and walked to Strickler. He was lucky she didn’t remember her magic training
“I know you know how to break this spell. For your own good, I suggest you help out because I will find a way to break the spell and then your spine” she whispered to the changeling.
He didn’t answer. He only nodded.
Y/n looked back at Vendel, the troll was looking at her with his eyebrows raised “Our sessions are working”
Y/n ignored him and followed her mother to the heart stone.
-
“So, when you and your friends said you were going camping…” Barbara asked.
“We were getting a Triumbric stone from a place called Gatto’s Keep” Jim fixed his mother’s blanket.
“Right. And when Steve crashed his vespa?”
“Vulture troll…?” Y/n answered. She was sitting at the feet of the bed made of stone.
“And your guidance counselor?”
Y/n and Jim looked at each other.
“Blinky” Jim sighed “He does give me a lot of guidance”
Y/n smiled.
“I just can’t. It’s just…too much” Barbara’s voice was shaking “You really shouldn’t be putting yourself in danger like this. I'm your mother. I protect you, that’s the deal”
“I’m fine, mom. You don’t need to protect me. I think this is what I was meant to do” Jim took out the amulet and put on his armor.
“Woah” Barbara was blinded by the lights coming out of Jim.
“I should’ve told you sooner. Maybe none of this would have happened”
“You’re supposed to be able to tell me anything” Barbara sniffled and put his hand on top of the amulet in Jim’s chest. The armor disappeared.
“I never should have lied to you” Jim said.
Y/n looked down. She was making the same mistake her brother did. She should be able to tell their mother about what had been going on with her but something inside wouldn’t let her.
“Jim? A word?” Vendel interrupted.
Jim kissed her mother’s forehead and left the room to talk to Vendel.
Barbara looked at her daughter. Y/n smiled at her mother and laid down next to her.
“I’m sorry” Y/n whispered into her mother’s arm.
“You’re still kids” Barbara brushed Y/n’s hair with her hand “It’s too much responsibility”
Tears fell from Y/n’s eyes. She had never felt like a kid. She had always felt like something older than an adult, especially since Jim found the amulet and listening to her mother say that she was a kid made that uneasiness more heavy. She wondered if she ever felt like a kid back in her old life
Barbara grabbed Y/n’s hand and whimpered.
“Mom?” With her free hand she whipped the tears away
“It’s…okay” Barbara whispered.
“It’s not” Y/n grabbed her mother’s hand with both her hands and closed her eyes. She took her mother’s hand to her forehead and took a deep breath. A red lighting exploded in her head, the memory of an old spell came back to her.
“How are you doing it?” Barbara asked, her voice stronger than before.
“Doesn’t matter” Y/n opened her eyes and smiled.
Jim and Vendel came back and they brought Strickler and Blinky with them.
Strickler ran to hold Barbara's other hand.
“Thank you for doing this for me” Jim said from behind Y/n.
“I’m doing it for her” Strickler answered.
‘Too late to play Romeo’ Y/n thought.
A small portal opened and through it, the shadow staff came flying stabbing a piece of paper to the wall.
“The incantation” screamed Blinky grabbing the shadow staff
“But where are Toby and Claire?” Screamed Jim.
“We must prepare the conjuration at once!” Vendel grabbed the paper and read the incantation “Oh, it seems there is another problem”
“What?” Y/n let go of her mother’s hand and walked to Vendel
“What do you mean there’s another problem?” Jim complained.
Y/n took the paper from Vendel’s hands and read it.
“Oh” she said
“What is it?” Jim asked.
“When they severed the bond between mom and Strickler she’ll lose some of her memory” Y/n explained.
“What are you saying? I’m going to forget TrollMarket? That Jim is the trollhunter?” Barbara asked.
“I’ll leave you with a moment of privacy” Vendel took back the incantation and Strickler before leaving “then we should enact the conjuration”
“Guess we’re gonna have to have this conversation again” Jim said from the left side of the bed.
Barbara took their children’s hand “Jim, Y/n, listen to me. Promise me we will. Okay? It took all of this for you to tell me about” she winces “your other life”
“I just didn’t want to worry you and I know I have” Jim said
“Yes, yes, you have. I am worried. I’m scared. But listen to me. It is my job to worry. And it’s not your job to protect me. I want you to know something. Even before you found this amulet..way before all of this you were always my hero. My beautiful children” the three of them hugged.
The door opened. Vendel and Strickler were back.
“The time has come, '' Vendel had a yellow crystal in his hands “place your hands upon the gemstone”
Barbara lifted her hand.
Before Strickler could do the same he tried to apologize “Barbara, I..”
“Don’t talk to me. You’re the one thing I’m looking forward to forgetting” she looked away
Vendel recited the incantation.
“Jim, promise me. After this is over don’t keep your trollhunting a secret from me anymore. Promise me” Barbara asked one last time.
Yellow lighting traveled through Barbara’s arm back to the stone and from the stone to Strickler’s arm.
Y/n felt the magic travel through trollmarket. The spell was a powerful one and the magic it took to undo it was even more powerful.
“Forgive me, Barbara” he grunted.
“Jim promise me” Barbara pleaded.
Jim nodded.
Jim and Y/n sat in the emergency room next to her mother’s bed.
“She’ll be safe here” Y/n whispered.
Jim nodded
“I’m going to the bathroom” Jim stood up from the chair he was sharing with her sister and tucked her mother up. He was going to leave the room but
“Jim? Is that you?” Barbara woke up “Honey what happened?”
Y/n stood up and walked to her mother’s bed.
Hi, mom” she moved her hair from her face. She turned to her brother and saw him looking down at his amulet.
“Something happened last night. Something you can’t tell anyone” Jim walked back to the bed.
“What is it? Why do you look so worried?” She turned to see him more closely.
“Well… uh…there was…an accident” Jim put back the amulet in his back pocket “you fainted, you bumped your head. I drove you here”
Y/n sighed “Mom…” Jim looked at her sister. His eyes pleading her to lie for him “I’m sorry. I should’ve been there”
“My hero” Barbara smiled and put his hand on Jim’s cheek “I know there are things going on with you, Jim. Things you don’t want to tell me.”
“There are? I mean you do?” Jim pulled back
“Well, sure, you’re sixteen. You have your own life. I just want you to know…there’s nothing you can’t share with me. Whatever it is, I can take it”
Jim looked at her sister. Y/n didn’t say anything. It was Jim's secret. She couldn’t choose for him. Jim looked back at her mother and smiled.
“I know you can”
Y/n sat in the cold hospital room looking at her mother sleep. Their mother was no longer in immediate danger. And maybe Jim was right, if Barbara knew about the secret they’ve been keeping it will only put her in more danger.
Y/n’s eyes started to close when her phone woke her up. It was Toby. Y/n stepped out of the room to take the call. She was closing the door when Toby’s words reached her ears “Jim went to the Darklands” She made the boy repeat those exact words a couple times still unable to understand when she hung up.
Y/n started to walk, without a destination in mind, she just wanted to get out. Out of this feeling. Out of this anxiety she’s been feeling. The air was getting stuck in her lungs and suddenly, she couldn’t breathe.
Y/n grabbed the pole of one of the lights and with the other hand grabbed her chest, her nails trying to pry it open and let the air in. She slowly sat down, tears pouring out of her eyes. She wasn’t sure when she started crying but her shirt was already soaked.
She sat there, her eyes set on Benoit's neon sign, too nervous to look anywhere else. She closed her eyes and tried to repel the thoughts of Jim in the Darklands, Jim fighting Gunmar, Jim being torn apart by Gunmar.
“Y/n?”
She opened her eyes and saw Douxie, he was crouching next to her. She didn’t hear him get close. The sadness in his eyes made her start to cry again
“Darling, what’s going on?” Douxie sat next to her and put his arm around her shoulders.
She just nodded, the words didn’t want to come out.
“It’s okay. Take your time” he rubbed her back.
“My mother is in the hospital” she was able to say after a while.
“Is everything okay? I mean…”
“Yes…she’s alright” she interrupted “She’ll be able to come home tomorrow” Tears started to fall again at the thought of Jim not being there tomorrow.
“It’s okay” Douxie hugged her “You can stay with me until you have to pick your mother up” he offered without letting her go.
“Oh, no” she pulled apart and cleaned the tears with her sleeve “I don’t want to bother. Really. I’ll be fine”
“You’re more than welcome” he kissed her forehead “c'mon. Follow me” he stood up and stretched his arm.
She followed him. She followed him anywhere.
“C’mon in” Douxie closed the door behind Y/n “It’s a little bit messy, sorry”
Y/n frowned. The room wasn’t messy and she lived with a sixteen year old boy if someone knew messy it was her.
“Let’s sit” Douxie took her by the shoulders and guided her to the couch “Do you want some tea?”
“Sure” Y/n sat down and listened to Douxie put the kettle on the stove.
Y/n looked around, the living room wasn’t big but it was big enough.
“Do you feel better?” He sat next to her.
She nodded. She didn’t want to talk. She was afraid to make him uncomfortable. And, if she was honest, she wouldn't be able to return home tonight.
“Y/n?”
She turned to him.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” He grabbed her hand from her lap.
“Yeah. I’m cried out” she smiled.
It wasn’t a lie. The sadness was there but she didn’t have any more tears.
“It must be hard. You and…fuzz buckets…Jim” Douxie stood up “Where is he? We should g…”
“No!” Y/n said firmy.
Douxie looked back alarmed.
“Sorry. No” she said softly “He at Toby’s. At his best friend's house. I thought it would be better for him” she smiled.
Maybe if she repeated it enough, maybe if she thought it enough it would be true. Jim would appear at Toby’s house and his escape to the Darklands would be just a bad dream.
“That’s nice. Maybe that would take his mind off it” he sat back down.
Y/n nodded.
“Is there something I can do to keep your mind out of this bad place?” He took her hand back.
Y/n looked back at him, he looked sincere. He always looked sincere when he was talking to her. Maybe she was overreacting. Maybe the conversation he had the other day wasn’t about her. If he didn’t want her he wouldn’t had invited her to his house.
“Hey? Where you go?” He smiled.
“Can…can I ask you something?” She looked down
Douxie nodded.
“Do you think I’m annoying?” She didn’t want to look at his face, scared of what he might say.
He squeezed her hand “Where did you get that?” He sounded offended.
“Well…this is stupid…the other day I heard you talking with your friend and she said something about a boundary and I thought…”
“Darling, no. I would never. I was talking about my boss. Is that why you were mad the other day at the store? I would never…” he lifted her chin so she could look him into his eyes “I would never get tired of you…never”
Relief washed all over her. The sincerity that was always in Douxie's eyes was still there.
“You must think I'm a weirdo now” she looked down.
Douxie got a little closer making her look back at him “Never” and quickly close the distance between them. His right hand that was on top of Y/n’s hands got to her cheek, with his thumb wiping away the tears falling from her eyes.
Y/n grabbed Douxie’s shirt in an attempt to get him closer. She imagined kissing Douxie a thousand times but nothing could prepare her for what it actually was. She didn’t have words to explain what he was making her feel.
The kettle whistled making them separate.
“I should get that before…you know…” Douxie pointed to the kettle, his eyes still focused on Y/n.
She nodded.
Douxie disappeared into the kitchen and Y/n let herself fall into the couch, a big smile on her face.
Bonus:
“How about a tour?” Douxie put down his cup.
“Sure” Y/n chuckled.
“Over here is the couch where Arch and I watch TV and eat. Well, I eat, he hasn't been allowed to eat here since the ‘incident’ ” He whispered the last part. Y/n smiled. She remembered the picture Douxie had sent her after Archie ate a can of tuna on the couch smearing it all over the brown leather.
“That’s Archie’s corner” on the left side of the room, next to a window, there was a big cat tree that seemed new except for one of the small poles. “And that’s the guitar and books corner” on the other side, he had two electric guitars and an acoustic one.
“You really didn’t need all those strings” Y/n she laughed.
“Huuh” Douxie blushed.
Y/n smiled and walked to the small library next to the guitars. On top of the library he had three pictures: one of an annoyed Archie in a suit, one of him and Archie in a city that Y/n didn’t recognise and the last one, the one that caught Y/n eyes, it a was an old picture of a couple in Machu Picchu, the quality was so low that you couldn’t see the couple’s faces, the man looked like Douxie.
“Are these your parents?” Y/n lifted the frame from its place. She caressed the frame. “They looked happy”
“They were” he smiled. Douxie walked up to Y/n and kissed her head “They were”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t…” Y/n looked up to Douxie. He was looking at her and smiling.
“You have beautiful eyes” he whispered.
“You too” she put the frame back without taking her eyes off him.
Y/n was laying down on the couch watching tv when the feeling caught her. A shiver ran through her spine. Her heart felt hollow. She sat down on the couch with her feet on the ground trying to shake the vertigo she was suddenly feeling.
She looked down at the ground but the carpet was no longer there, instead, there was tall grass hiding her boots, boots that she didn’t remember putting on.
She was walking to the edge of the cliff, to a man wearing heavy armor that was kneeling at the edge looking down at the sea.
“What have you done?” Her own scream shook her bones. She ran to the edge, trying to prove herself wrong. She looked down but the body was already being washed by the sea. The image made her anger start to boil inside of her.
“What have you done?” She whispered not taking her eyes from the water. The violent waves imitated the turbulence of her heart.
Her legs quickly gave out. She felt like someone was reaching through her chest and ripping her heart.
“No” a broken sob escaped her lips.
She stretched her hand down towards the ocean like it would return what she lost, like it would fill back the hole where her heart used to be.
The voices of her brother and friends started to fill the room, bringing back Y/n from her haze. The carpet was under her feet again but so was the grief and a cold space next to her.
The trollhunters were returning triumphant from their second quest with the second Triumbric Stone.
“Y/n you won’t believe what happened!!” Toby screamed.
Y/n turned to them. She couldn’t see well, her view was blurry. She could recognise each of them by their clothes, their voices. She was dizzy like she had just stepped out of the most violent rollercoaster.
Toby gave a nudge to Claire and she slowly took out a stick that looked like stone.
“Y/n, are you alright?” her brother asked after noticing the pain on his sister’s face.
She nodded with a smile and got closer to see what the teenagers were showing her. What Y/n believed to be a long piece of stone opened into something longer, a gray staff made of quartz taller than her.
Something in Y/n shifted. Her vision was blurry but she could see the staff clear as day. The dark quartz shining with purple reflects, the handle made of black stone.
“The shadow staff” her raspy voice was full of anger, of grief “How did you get this?” She said louder.
She didn’t understand a word of her brother's explanation, just one name, Angor Rot.
“He shouldn’t have this. You shouldn’t have this” She laughed incredulously “Why’d he had this? It’s her’s” Y/n screamed and took the staff from Claire’s hand.
The grief she felt during her vision grew. She felt the tears fall to the ground. She couldn’t see, the pain had made everything dark.
“Sorry, sister” a woman whispered, making Y/n drop the staff and fell to her knees letting out a guttural scream.
The heavy darkness became a warm soft orange light. In the tall ceiling, Y/n could see the shadows dance and for a moment, no grief existed. But the moment was cut short by the sounds of glass clinking, the heaviness returning to her chest.
“Ah, I see you’re awake” Vendel walked to the head of the stone bed “ Do you know where you are?”
Y/n nodded sitting up.
“TrollMarket” it hurted to talk.
“Do you know who you are?”
“Do you know what you are, Y/n?” A woman’s voice screamed at her.
Y/n knew it was just Vendel and her. She knew the voice came from inside her brain.
“Y/n Lake”
Vendel nodded.
“Do you remember what happened last night?”
She knew. She could see clearly now, see the confusion, the fear on everyone’s eyes, on her brother’s eyes. She also remembered the anger, the sadness, the hot tears in her eyes, her mind chanting ‘She died. He killed her’.
“Yes” she said between tears.
“You’ve been under a spell” Vendel explained “There’s a barrier in your head dividing your memories, between who you are and who you were” with his finger he drew a line in the air.
“I know” Y/n took her hand to her throat.
“You know?” Vendel shifted his cane to his right hand. He was surprised.
Y/n nodded.
The troll was about to ask another question when a loud meow erupted from TrollMarket.
“Alfred, no!” She heard Jim running but the cat was faster.
Al ran to Y/n’s lap and started to rub their faces together. He was relieved.
“I see” said Vendel.
Jim stopped by the entrance. His eyes focussed on her sister.
Y/n felt the shame rise. She was afraid. What if Jim was mad at her for keeping a secret and almost hurting his friends?
“Y/n” Jim ran to her sister, hugging her with all his strength.
Y/n was confused she was prepared for Jim anger, but not this.
“Jim” she caressed his head, brushing his hair with her fingers.
Her brother held her even tighter in response “I’m sorry” he said.
“No, you shouldn’t be sorry. I’m sorry, Jim. Last night was scary and I should’ve…”
Jim shook his head.
“It’s my fault. I dragged you into this…”
“Jim, is okay. This was going to happen even if I didn’t knew you are the trollhunter”
Jim lifted his head from Y/n’s side.
“She is right” Vendel interrupted “The spell has a expiration date. Even if you didn’t told her she would have this reactions to the reminders of her past life”
“So, it wasn’t my fault?” Al peeked his head from between the siblings.
“Woah” Jim jumped back “He talked”
Y/n laughed.
“No, it’s not your fault” Vendel said.
“He talked. How can he do that?” Jim pointed to Al.
“Yes, I did. I’m Y/n familiar” Al sat at Jim’s feet.
“Familiar?”
“Is like a wizard assistant” Vendel explained.
“Wizard?” Jim’s eyes shifted between Alfred and Y/n.
Y/n smiled. She was still just as confused as Jim.
“So the red light, that was you and not the staff?” Jim asked remembering the night before.
Y/n looked at Vendel with her eyebrows furrowed.
“Yes. Y/n used to be a powerful wizard”
“What?” The siblings said at the same time.
“I don’t think we should push anymore, Vendel” cautioned Alfred.
“I think we should work to make the barrier fall. After all, having Y/n next to the trollhunter may be of great help” The troll looked at Y/n “I could try help to return to who you were in exchange of your help against Gunmar”
“Of course” Y/n answered immediately. There was nothing to discuss, she was going to help magic or not magic.
“That’s settled then. I’ll see you tomorrow”
“I’ll see you tomorrow” Y/n smiled and left with Jim and Alfred.
“Y/n, are you sure?” Al asked once they were far enough from Vendel.
“Why wouldn’t I?”
Al didn’t answer.
“So, you can do magic?” Jim asked.
“Yes, I mean, I only tried moving stuff”
“Awesome” Jim said “that’s so cool”
They laughed.
The walk was cut short by a scream.
“Y/n!” It was Toby.
Y/n turned around and was tackled by the younger boy.
“Oh god, I’m glad you’re okay” he held her tight “I was so worried”
Y/n chuckled, reciprocating the hug.
“I’m sorry, Tobes. I didn’t mean to scare you” Y/n said through the pain in her throat.
“I’m glad you’re okay too” Claire said. Her eyes fixated on the ground.
Y/n lifted a hand from Toby’s back and grabbed Claire’s hand with a smile. The girl lifted her eyes.
“Thank you” Y/n mouthed.
Claire smiled back.
Y/n was browsing the back of Douxie’s bookstore. Those last bookshelf that no one ever looks at.
She had never heard of some the books and that didn’t surprise her. What did surprise her was the top shelf. The first three books didn’t have its title written on it, they looked old, worn, loved. The three that followed were a couple of her favorite books, books that she had loved with all her heart. They were old, even the most recently published seemed loved.
Y/n stroked the spine of all the books in the row, her finger stopping on a small red book, like the first three, it was old and didn’t have the title written on the spine. Y/n grabbed it. It didn’t have the title written anywhere. She traced the golden details but before she could open it, Douxie came looking for her.
“Hey, love” he said after a customer closed the door.
Y/n smiled.
Douxie and her had been taking things slow. After their talk they’d hang out a couple times a week until Y/n got “sick” after the shadow staff episode, then they started hanging out every day.
One afternoon, Douxie called Y/n after she left several texts unanswered and Barbara answered. She told him about Y/n “sickness” so he stopped by. He sat at the foot of the bed and talked with her. At first it was just him doing the talking. He would tell her about the rude customers, about that old lady that went to the library with her dog and how Archie almost got his tail bitten but mostly he would talk about music. Douxie would show her his new favorite song and the new songs he had written.
By the time Y/n got her voice back they would sit side by side at the head of her twin bed with Alfred between their legs. Y/n enjoyed Douxie presence. She found comfort in the small domesticity he had created
“There’s something about him” she told her mother over tea one night after Douxie left for his shift at Benoit’s when her mother commented on Y/n and Douxie’s relationship.
Douxie had caught her staring a couple times during one of their lazy afternoons. She would look at him. Just observe him. She would follow the bridge of his nose with her eyes, having to stop his fingers from doing the job. She would imagine how his soft disheveled black and blue hair would feel between her fingers.
Y/n tried to engrain every little detail into her head. How his eyes would close when he smiled, how he would mindlessly scratch Al’s head, how he hums while making any task, how he knew how to make tea the way she liked, how he would scratch his head when he was nervous. She tried to embroider his little actions into her brain because a voice deep in her heart would remind her how easy it was to forget.
“But how could I forget those hazel eyes?” She would ask but the voice wouldn’t answer.
“Doux” Y/n turned around with the book in her arms.
“What’d you have there?” He furrowed his brow.
“Ummh…I don’t know” she gave him the book “Sorry, I was shamelessly snooping”
He chuckled and took the book from Y/n’s hands. When the book left her hands a piece of paper fell to the ground.
“It’s okay” Douxie smiled “You can do anything you want”
Y/n crouched down and opened the folded piece of paper. It was a music sheet. The paper was really old. Y/n was afraid to touch it too much and break it. The ink where the title was written was smudged but she recognised the piece instantly.
“Oh, I really like this one” she whispered to herself.
“You know it?” Douxie asked.
“Yeah, it’s my…” Y/n brows furrowed.
“It’s my sister’s favorite” almost fell from her mouth.
She shook her head.
“Well…It’s not really my favorite but I really like it” she corrected.
For a moment, Y/n thought about the incident that happened the other day. Thought about the sadness that the shadow staff would bring every time she would look at it and, most important, what that voice had whispered to her ‘Sorry, sister’. Could it be that she left someone so important behind that now they were trying to claw their way out of the exile of her memories?
Y/n gave the paper back to Douxie.
“I would like to hear you play it sometime” He smiled.
“Sure” Y/n smiled back, her cheeks slightly red.
Douxie looked the book on his hands for a second and looked back to Y/n and said:
“You know, this is a really good anthology. It could be really good to start reading again. Would you like to check it out?”
Y/n smile grew. She had told him she wanted to start to read for pleasure again when she found out that he worked on a library. She couldn’t believe he remembered that.
“Yes” She took the book and started walking to the couch but before she sat down she retraced her steps and stood in front of Douxie once again.
“Thanks” she kissed his cheek.
Douxie smiled, his cheeks turning crimson the moment her lips touched him.
Y/n carefully flipped through the yellow pages, inspecting the small letter and finding some illustrations but what surprised her the most was a short note on the last page: ‘I’m so sorry about your book. I hope you love this version too. —H.C”
Y/n smiled at the relic in her hands and wondered if the previous owner of the book loved it as the one they lost and if they ever forgive H.C. She stood up to go to Douxie and ask him but before she could her phone rang. It was her alarm reminding her about her appointment with Vendel.
In the last week, Vendel believed he had made some progress on Y/n spell but she wasn’t so sure. The visions she’s been having disappeared and her nightmares too but no memories appeared. And for a moment, she thought her lack of nightmares were a good thing but she quickly found herself missing them too. She missed the people inside her dreams: the tall man that would walk with his hands behind his back, the woman that was always too far off her reach and that soft blue light that seemed to follow her everywhere.
She found the hole in her chest growing and could only be ignored when she wasn’t alone but she wasn’t sure how much she could be this clingy with the people she loved.
“Hey, Doux. I have to go” She grabbed her purse and walked to the registry.
“Oh, okay “ For a moment Y/n thought she saw him deflated “I’ll guess I’ll be seeing you soon”
She laughed.
“I’ve actually been seeing you a lot this week” he chuckled.
Y/n smile fell. Maybe her fear was becoming true.
“Yeah, bye” she faked a smile and started to walk to TrollMarket.
Her mind repeated her last week with Douxie. Maybe it was too much.
“So how are you feeling?” Vendel asked while he tinkered with some vials.
“Fine” Y/n answered from her place at the bed made of stone.
They had the same routine for the last couple days. He would ask how she was and she would say ‘fine’. She wasn’t lying, she was fine, just fine. She hadn’t remembered anything yet. She had hoped that by now, at least, a small memory would’ve returned.
“Still no memories, huh?” He kept working with the vials.
“No” she saw him stop moving for a second but he kept doing what he was doing.
“Have patience. It’s a process” he turned to her, knocking a vial with his elbow.
“Careful!” She stretched her hands from her seat on the other side of the room.
Vendel didn’t took his eyes from Y/n, smiling proudly when he saw her shocked face.
The glass vile was floating four centimetres from the floor, a faint scarlet light surrounding it.
“Put it back on the table” Vendel asked.
With a small movement of her fingers she put the vial back on the table.
“I can’t believe it “ she looked at the palm of her hands.
“I told you to be patient” he got closer to her.
Y/n looked around the room. Everything seemed different. She recognised the stones around her, she could name most of the stuff inside the vials, she could even read the book in trollish that was next to her with ease.
“Thank you” she smiled and hugged Vendel.
The troll went stiff when she touched him, making her back up.
“Sorry” she chuckled.
“It’s okay, Y/n” he patted her shoulder making a small streak of electricity run through it.
Halloween prompt
Vendel and (Y/N) spending Halloween night in heartstone. Just making sweet treats and talking.
( Didn't say if you wanted platonic or romantic so I'm just gonna do something netrual for you to judge )
The Heartstone was glowing brighter than usual as you walked in, making you feel warm as you took a deep breath.
Closing your eyes you took in the places familar smell. The scent of old books with worne pages, fresh ink, ash from a burning candle, and earth filled your senses. Smiling as you walk towards Vendel's study your hand dragged across the living stone basking in its orange light.
Stepping in Vendel had set out plates of sweets. Caramel apples, crystalized candy, and other treats. Warm mugs of hot chocolate with whipcream and Apple cider with cinnamon were also out. Grabbing a scary troll book off his many shelves you settle into the pillow corner, wrapping yourself up in the warm furr blankets.
The tapping of Vendels staff bounces through the office before the elder stumbles in. He chuffs tilting his head towards you in the pillow corner before a small smile graces his lips. Walking forwards he sets his staff to the side as he sits next to you with a cup of glug.
"(Y/N)." He greets happy to see you.
"Vendel." You respond equally joyous. Snorting he leans forward and your heads softly touch, his cold worne stone tapping your soft warm flesh. Getting settled you lean against him.
"Alright enough chitter chatter. Time for the story." He hums with a mischevious look as he sips on his glug. Smirking in response feeling playful you take a long sip of your own drink before opening the book extra slow. He grunts and you hum innocently.
Deciding you'd tortured him enough your finger traces the title beige your begin.
What a perfect way to spend the holiday. With the one you loved.
Troll Dating Aesthetic 🗡
Vendel: The smell of parchment, the feeling of a head resting ontop of yours, the tapping of a staff, drinking hot tea, sharing books, healing crystals, flickering candles, gentle kisses, warm knitted blankets, old knowledge, the soft embers of a dying fire, songs sung in another languae, classical music, old leather, ancient artifacts, soft whispering late at night, an entire history.
Blinkous: The scent of ink, a pen scribbling across paper, tea stains, oak furniture, wood polish, the sound of a piano, pages being turned, musty books, oil burning in a lantern, experiments for the pursuit of knowledge, late night musings, writing messy doodles and passing notes, philosophical debates, reciting poetry to each other, warm sway in their arm hugs, fun facts for everything, reading together, gushing about shared interests.
Aarrrgh: The smell of moss, smooth rocks, the taste of earth, warm full body cuddles, soft blankets and fluffy pillows, lush house plants, the feel of dirt inbetween your fingers and under your toes, gentle nuzzles, daises growing out of the cracks in the pavement, humming that makes your entire body thrum, a stream flowing, gentle green eyes, kissing scars, shiny crystals, sharing stories.
A Gargoyles duty
Ask: I'm not entirely sure how gargoyles work but I had an amusing dream last night where I hc-ed that they have double a troll lifespan due to ‘freezing’ when in the sleeping stone state, so the troll crew taking an agitated elder gargoyle(!reader?) to troll market only for them to brighten up when they see Vendel- the little whelp they used to watch over for his family- all grown up and a leader. Unperceived Shenanigans ensuing. Imagine how the others would react 😂
Ask: Hey I had a thought, back where I come from Gargoyles have certain myths around them: the one my Grandpa used to tell us was on how they could be tethered to buildings or people and that’s why you’d find some where they didn’t belong, and they lose themself/become feral to protect their tethered until they ‘break’; so imagine trollhunter co. Finding a Gargoyle!reader tethered to something or by someone after the troll crew has already met and been helped by them before or even as a first meeting? (Was tethered to Vendel years ago before they got seperated)
~ Vendel is laughing. Vendel can do that?! Everyone is in shock as they watch this old but spry gargoyle hug Vendel nearly in tears.
~ His happiness suddelny turns to blunt anger and surprise.
"You dragged an old gargoyle down in troll market?!" He demands. The kids worriedely nod. He frowns but signs. "Well we might as well show my dear friend (Y/N) around." He pats your shoulder. "It's been to long." He states and the kids are in awe. He seems so happy.
~ Once your given the tour and Vendel buys you a beer (maybe two) as you chat you decide to stay in Trollmarket.
~ The kids come in just as you unfreeze from stone and they all become worried. Jim asks is you got snipped by creepers sun. Toby is frantically checking for any cuts or nips that may be infected from the poison and Claire hugs you asking if your alright.
~ You smile and gently pat her hair down. They all remind you of previous families you once protected. "I'm fine. I'm fine. Let me explain." You state. Once they've learned of gargoyle biology and how you freeze up during the day they have so many questions.
~ Being a curious gargoyle yourself you ask them questions as well and they do they're best to answer. Soon your all very well acquainted qnd have decided these are your new charges that you will protect.
~ Your awake for twelve hours and turned to stone for the other twelve. So you give eqch kid four undived hours of your attention. Unless their in a group then your just a mama bird spoiling her babies.
~ Vendel snorts when he hears who your new charges are. "Of course you'd adopt the human hunter and all his friends." He teases. You just smack him with your tail making tge old goat man laugh harder.
~ Your first job as protector you decide is that these kids get to live a lil more. You make them a schedule where they can sleep at least six hours a day and on weekends the daytime is there's to sleep while the night is to train and to prepare. You have an hour tutoring time with each kid and in that hour you get all their homework done so they understand their school work. You also make sure they're eating enough and get plenty of water. You cook soups from long forgotten recipes and making them tarts and turn overs as treats. They're all healthier and stronger than ever making you a proud gargoyle.
~ Claire looks up too you as a second mother once she got to know you. In her private time with you she tells you her worries and insecurities about being a trollhunter / sorceress in training. You smile wrapping your wings around her as you hum and stroke her hair to soothe her. You tell her you can't promise that being a TrollHunter will be any easier but you promise you'll be there for her every step of the way and that she always has you to talk too. She hugs you tightly and smiles. She begins to call you My Other Mother in Gargoyle once you teach her the language and it makes you wanna cry in happiness.
~ Jim wishes his mother could help him, that she could see him now but after the binding spell and her forgetting he thinks it's better that she doenst know. You say it's his decision and you support him but you feel bad for the boys mother and hope Jim will tell her someday. He likes to go with you outside and just talk. He feels like he can kust be a normal teenager for ten seconds when he talks to you. And it feels nice.
~ You help Toby collect rocks and give him some old ones that you've been carrying for some years. You talk about the centuries that have past you and the adventures you've had. He loves it. He loves hearing about trolls being the center of attention and having a mom again. He calls you his rock mom and you always smile. You swear to protect these kids forever.
~ Arrrgh and Blinky love that Claire and the boys have a mother figure that they can talk to about this secret life with and that they have a tough female to protect them. You three become great friends and they're glad they decided to bring you to Trollmarket that one night.
~ Vendel is still aspirated that you've adopted three humans as your charges at such an old age but he having been your charge once can't say much. He's glad to see you so happy and see the kids so energized thanks to your guidance. He missed his crazy gargoyle angel and now here you are continuing your traditions. He couldn't be happier and tye rest of Trollmarket couldn't shine brighter thanks to you.
Imagine being pregnant in TrollMarket
~ You were one of Jims teachers. Recently pregnant and left alone to raise the baby you moved to Arcadia for a fresh start. However monsters and mayem were not on the pregnancy itinerary and now you've stumbled into a whole world of trouble that doesn't involve your pregnancy problems.
~ Jim swears to you as long as he's Trollhunter no harm will come to you or your baby and he's so sorry that you got caught up in this mess. However your quick to forgive and soon the Trollhunter team becomes your family, the kids becoming your own children in a way.
~ Jim is quick to cook you anything you want. If you have a weird pregnancy craving he'll make whatever you want. Pickled pears? Got it! Something super sweet? Of course. Something really spicy? Sure. Icecream? He'll get the machine and make you some! He loves cooking for you and is glad he can help outside of trollhunting.
~ Toby throughout the entire process becomes your hype man. Becoming pregnant can be hard on your body and how you see yourself. Especially since the hormones make everything seem like a big deal. Sometimes the weight is upsetting or you feel fat and like a slob other times your so tired but feel lazy for taking a nap. He's there to tell you your amazing and beautiful and you should always feel that way because it's true. Self care is key and he's determined to make sure your taken care of the whole pregnancy.
~ Claires an expert in pregnancies because of her baby brother. She helps you make a list of things you should get for the upcoming baby and enjoys maternity shopping with you. You may be a pregnant lady but that doesn't mean you should be forced to live in sweatpants for nine months. She also helps you pick out cute baby clothes and toys for the nursery.
~ Poor Blinky in his excitement mixes up troll customs with human ones and creates weird hybrid things that don't actually exist and defiently don't help the pregnancy.
~ The kids and trolls keep up on absolutely everything. You're very well taken care of the whole pregnancy. Jim makes sure your eating. Toby makes sure you take care of yourself. And Claire helps you with house stuff when you need it. Draal, Blinky, and Aarrrgh also get very involved. They want to hear about your doctor appointments and see all the sonograms and ultrasounds. (Good luck getting their hands off you when the baby begins kicking)
~ You never got a baby shower so the troll team surprises you. Claire organizes the party, Jim handles the cake and food, meanwhile Toby invites all your friends and decorates. You get gifts from trolls, people, and even changelings. Strickler didn't come but he sent an expensive gift and a nice card.
~ You don't think much of it as it's a busy fun day full of gifts, laughter, games, and love. When the parties over they have one last surprise for you. Taking you upstairs the kids are excited to show you a recently decorated nursey!
~ Blinky had painted the walls of the room to look like an enchanted forest. There was elegant trees with birds and critters and flowers full of bees and butterflies. Soft green carpet laid on the floor and you nearly cried as you looked around. Draal had built you a beautiful crib of wood with little pieces of heart stone hanging off of it. And Aarrrgh smiled as he'd put in some shelves and arranged toys. Stepping further into the room taking it in, the crib was full of fluffy pillows and soft blankets. All of them were fantasy themed with pixies or tales of fae. Hand made dolls of the trolls were in a toy bin and plushies of goblins and other creatures were placed around the room. There was a gorgoues rocking chair in the corner and next to it a shelf full of young troll books and childrens toys. There was also a wooden changing station with soft pillows for your baby that held all the supplies you needed to clean and change them. You cry telling them this is the best gift ever.
~ Bular found you by accident. About half way through your second term Goblins were chasing the trollhunting team and out of options they hid at your house since you were the closest. The U.V lights you installed made the goblins flee and you thought that was the end of that until a changeling tried to break into your home a couple days later.
~ The team decides Trollmarket was the safest place for you. Staying in Trollmarket until the baby comes and you can safely move everyone is excited. Trolls may not love humans but the fact that your carrying a life inside of you is seen as a glorious thing. Trollmarket would never turn a pregnant person away even if they are a human. You get an influx of gifts from trolls around the market and they all make a point to smile and wave whenever they see you, something they didn't do before.
~ If your feet ever become sore, don't worry about it. In human standards you may be big but in troll ones your small. Blinky, Aarrrgh, Draal they'll carry you if they see you struggling. It's also a troll instinct to want to feed anything that's tiny so be prepared for trolls constantly offering you strange things to eat because they think you should be bigger for the baby. Gifts are a common occurrence as you live with Blinky. Weapons. Troll toys. Books. You also receive a lot of interesting letters.
~ Blinky tells the babies stories every night before you got to bed. He reads human fairy tales but also tells troll lore excited. Aarrrgh snuggles next to you and wherever the baby kicks he laughs. You always go to bed warm and happy as your baby rests soundly in your stomach.
~ Draal gets very protective of you when you locate to Trollmarket. He was protective before but after the attack he's now a guard dog, constantly by your side unless the team really needs him. When the baby starts kicking he's nervous to touch your belly at first. He'd seen the others do it and he wanted to as well. Taking his hand you gently put it your stomach and his eyes widen as he feels a strong kick against it.
"They're a warrior!" He states excited and you chuckle. With who they'd be raised with you had no doubt they'd be a warrior.
~ Aarrrgh is very cuddly the entire pregnancy. He wants the baby to be warm and safe so he often curls up around you when you take naps. He's often nuzzling your baby bump and asking questions. Human pregnancies and troll ones are very different and sometimes he gets confused but he does his best.
~ Blinky reads way to many books that Claire brings over about babies. Now he thinks he's an expert on all things baby related. The entire pregnancy he gives ludicrous advice thinking it'll help the pregnancy and the baby. It's sweet but he becomes a bit overbearing and the kids sometimes have to intervene.
~ Vendel gets annoyed when the others have to leave and he's stuck with you. But as you waddle around the Heartstone complaining about sore feet and back pains he pauses. He leads you somewhere to sit down. He gives you a chunk of heartstone to hold and wraps you in blankets so your warm. Wandering away he comes back with tea for the both of you and starts a pleasant chat.
~ You've wandered into a dangerous world and your worried about your baby, about the kids. They shouldn't be alone... They shouldn't be taking care of you, your the adult! Vendel notices the sad way you say alone and care. He sees your lip tremble and it hits him your scared. He softly asks you if your afraid to be alone, if your afraid you won't get the care you need. Your hands instinctively touch the baby bump and your thoughts wander to the father who'd walked out on you. You nod feeling tears in your eyes and he gently puts his head to yours humming something soft and soothing.
"You are not alone here and you will be cared for here."
You begin sobbing relieved as he rubs your back. No you suppose you had nothing to worry about.
~ Vendel knows a lot about human pregnancies thanks to asking you and doing some light research. Blinky likes to challenge the old man about it and they often bicker about what's good and not good for you and the baby. It can be quit entertaining if not alarming.
~ Vendel gives you potions for morning sickness so you no longer puke when you wake up and he gives you tea to sooth your aching muscles. He gifts you a heartstone necklace so that peace may always be with you as you carry the baby.
~ Your in Blinkies library one day. The kids are out patrolling and your enjoying a nice night when suddenly your soaked. At first you assume you peed yourself and are a tad emabrassed but you know Blinky will understand. Calling him in for some assistance he pauses seeing you and that's when the contractions start. You didn't pee, your water just broke.
~ Going to a hospital may take too long and getting out of the canal was too dangerous at this point. You're very carefully picked up by Aarrrgh before your rushed to the heartstone. Someone had ran ahead so Vendel was getting ready as you were brought in.
~ There are soft blankets to lay on and your put on a Heartstone slab which eases the pain of labor. Trolls excitedly wait outside of the heartstone for the baby to come. Hours pass and although your sweaty and exhausted you can't help but smile as your baby is placed in your arms.
~ The kids run in along with Draal and they stare at you holding your newborn. You're covered in blankets and sweaty but you couldn't be happier as you stare at your baby. They're swaddled in a soft furry blanket holding a chunk of heartstone with wide eyes. They look around and you smile.
"Hi... Hi... I'm your mama..." You mumble holding them close. "This is your family..."
~ Vendel takes the baby to check on them and you sleep after the draining expeirnce when you wake you smile holding your child close. Vendel was the official grandpa and you'd named Aarrrgh and Blinky the godfathers of the child. You said the kids could be sisters and brothers if they wanted and you told Draal he was an uncle. They were all very excited.
~ You give your baby a human name and a Trollish one. One you'd use in the human one and one you'd use in TrollMarket. Holding them close and looking at your family you smile. You wouldn't have it any other way.
