trick or treeeeaaaat 🌙💫✨

It’s been centuries. The routine doesn’t change. He stalks through the dying, letting his teeth and eyes be as supernatural as possible. 

Many are scared. They bleed out and still cringe away, fear of the unknown shallow in their eyes. Kim will smile at them. He isn’t their enemy, he never was. But they fear him anyway, and the kindest thing he can do is leave them to their fate.

Others see him as a salvation. They spend energy they don’t have to call out and ask for selfish requests–change them, save them, help them. Those he will kneel by, let the full weight of him cast a shadow onto their pain. If they can, they beg, clutch at him. Some hate him, even then. Some fear the veil more than the fangs. Kim won’t turn them, but he hears them out regardless. What are a few minutes here and there when he has eternity?

Tonight breaks the routine. 

There’s a man–young, barely past boyhood but a man none the less– who’s eyes watch him not in fear or hope, but simply with regard. 

Kim crouches, small mocking smile already at the ready. “Hello.”

“Hello.” the person attempts a wai, hard to do when one hand is mangled and he’s bleeding from his mouth, but somehow he make it polite anyways. “Is it safe now?”

“Yeah.” It’s safe. The danger has moved on, left the few who aren’t quite dead to pass on in the aftermath. Kim has heard five heartbeats stop in the last hour. This is the last one.

“Good…” the man smiles. “Was going to say…you needed to leave if it wasn’t.”

That’s new. Kim tilts his head and lets his fangs show even more. “Your concern is noted.”

There’s a sigh, and then the human relaxes. “Are you staying?”

“Might as well.”

“That…that’s really kind phi. But you don’t have to.”

This is very new. Kim might break his own routine tonight.

The main playable cast of my next game idea, dunno when I'll start working on it, but I have most of the plot already planned out.

-"Hroptr", an epithet of a certain Norse god.

-Dionysus, the god of rebirth and freedom.

-Vena, a god or sage mentioned in a single hymn of the Rigveda, his birth is blessed by many gods and he is described with multicolored rays of light.

Dionysus' design is based on Orphic fragment 258, describing a statue of Dionysus and equating him to the Sun, here below the cut.

‘Prepare all perfect things early morning, decking out

the body of the God, in imitation of the noble sun.

So first indeed like flaming rays,

encircle him in crimson, with a robe of fire.

Then over this, dangle a broad, many-colored faun-pelt,

spreading out the multi-spotted hide of the wild beast over the right shoulder

in imitation of the spangled stars and the divine axis of the sky.

Then over the faun’s pelt place a golden belt,

radiating, arrayed all ‘round his chest, a great sign!

...like Phaǽthôn (Φαέθων) leaping up straight from the rim of the earth

as he strikes the stream of Ôkæanós (Ὠκεανός) with his golden rays.

and there is an unspeakable gleam, mingled with the dew.

as he sparkles in whirls, winding ‘round in a circle,

before the God; then the belt beneath his immeasurable chest

looks like the ring of Ôkæanós, a great marvel to behold!’

This was an art request from @charsawdeath of their Hazbin Hotel fan kid Vena, who is the daughter of Vox and Valentino. She is a mostly albino mothling whose neck fluff, feathers and wings glow electric blue in the dark, which is why I painted them with the blue outline. :) Hope you enjoy her and think she's rather cute like I do. ^_^<3 (@charsawdeath already posted it on their page but I'm posting it here too ;) ).
