In His Eyes - Blade

A short drabble on assassin/businessman Blade being in love with his Mrs.

The study room is deadly quiet. Normally the space is filled with people of all sorts, playing Connect 4, making phone calls or getting yelled at by Blade. But today, there is a pin-drop silence with not a single soul in sight, except for the two figures on the sofa in the middle of the room. Blade is sitting in the centre of the couch with one hand holding his wine glass while the other one lies across the sofa top as he observes the other figure. His woman is sitting in between his legs resting her head on his chest as she snores softly, almost syncing with the deep breaths of the man who is watching her intently. Her hands lay loosely on his lap as she peacefully snoozes in the comfort of her man.

His eyes are filled with a tenderness none of his subordinates will ever have the right to see. The gentleness in his usually ablaze crimson eyes is one reserved for her and her only, especially in such moments of domestic solitude. A small smile spreads across his face as he swirls his wine absentmindedly and brings his free hand to rest on her waist. He wonders what she's dreaming about as she sleeps so contently in his arms.

It doesn’t take long before the door bursts open with his assistant’s voice flooding the room.

“Boss!”

He immediately clasps his mouth shut when he notices the mrs sleeping and the deadly glare Blade throws his way. The man on the sofa scowls as he feels her stir slightly in her sleep, softly squeezing her waist to assure her she can continue sleeping before turning to look at the assistant again.

In the pin drop silence of the room, Blade quietly issues his warning.

“Unless you want your tongue cut off next time, look before you speak."

The assistant nods hurriedly as beads of sweat roll down the side of his face and he bows before scurrying off. When the door closes shut, Blade looks back at her and kisses her head, smiling once again at the existence of his woman.

i'm saying it. i don't think joly would work in a hospital. i think his medical career would be informed by his politics + radicalisation and his + his friends regular drug use, he would be outraged at how the medical industry handles drug users, also at the medical industrial complex in general, so he would find a reputable community led harm reduction organisation to work for 🫶🏻

#joly #it also works because the idea that modern les amis wouldn't all have a million jobs and volunteer roles in community organising #and you know... do direct community action to support people... instead of just little hypothetical meetings where they debate hypothetical #problems....#that idea is so bullshit and i know it's written by people who only have indoor people problems and don't realise most radicals actually do #things... but still it annoys me #and he would hate working in a hospital #not that the harm reduction work wouldn't be stressful and high intensity too but he would rather it for the love of community #also it wouldn't be hard because as a disabled person he would already be radicalised against doctors and medical industry in general #les amis #les mis #mine #i realise as a disabled drug using cane user i could #write joly really really well #the best joly scene is in world ain't ready where in one scene he's so excited for the battle of the bands dancing around yelling and stuff #then they pick him up and he's like 'tonight is a sitting night' URGH that's so real it almost made me cry #anyway joly feelings good morning

Thinking once again somehow of how important it is to me that when Wei Wuxian came back to life in Mo Xuanyu's body, the only two people who recognised him were Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng.

Nothing is more proof of the fact that Jiang Cheng cared deeply for Wei Wuxian. Yes, he was hurt and there was anger but the fact that he held onto his rage and grief for years doesn't read to me as, "he hated Wei Wuxian so much he never forgave him for anything." Rather it reads as anger being the manifestation of Jiang Cheng's grief around losing his brother and closest confidant.
