are there any other passages that depict an intimate, consuming relationship with god/a yearning for him like psalm 63? and what you do think of this one?
loving god is violent. it has appetite, this love. it ruins everything. it is everything. it makes everything good. i am thinking of abraham sacrificing his son the moment god utters the command (and yes, this sacrifice does happen, just not in a fleshy way). i am thinking of the song of songs, the bibles divine erotica. i am thinking of saul impaling himself the moment he realizes god will never love him again. i am thinking of hagar returning to slavery because god told her to. i am thinking of hagar refusing to watch her son die, not because god told her to. i am thinking of afterlife itself having a belly and a mouth. mostly, though, i am thinking of this: loving god means nursing the wounds he gives you

I cannot believe that season. truly just. there was not a single episode I didn't sit down to without a genuine conviction that *this* would be the episode where they spit all over everything I loved about the show. I braced constantly throughout the episodes as they kept setting themselves up for Very Stupid story choices only to pull the rug and go "HAHA surprise, idiot!!! We've given you exactly what you wanted <3". until the final episode which was NOT what I wanted and also exponentially better storytelling and character development than any of the ideal scenarios I'd constructed.
something deeply meta about it all. truly a chaos season for the chaos god, where the most chaotic, unexpected, transformative thing they can do is to be good.
Spent the day processing my love for this season only to have your message sum my thoughts and feelings up perfectly, thank you so very much for sending it 💖
Same as you, not for a second did I go in truly expecting anything from s2. Owen and Mobius have my heart, always will, so primarily the show was a vehicle to provide whatever crumbs of his scenes and chemistry with Tom I could get and with the start of every episode I braced for the moment that would get ruined in some way, only to be continually hit with everything I've ever wanted in a show or pairing right up until the finale. Which, while not what I would've chosen, was beautifully crafted and an almost Shakespearean tragic romance that will haunt me for the rest of my days and is still infinitely better than the nightmare scenarios I'd been floating around in my mind so at least there's that and it's impossible not to be thankful for eps 1-5 for giving content anyone could dream of and more 😅
Besides the obvious ending, I'm mostly crushed our Loki and Mobius didn't get a proper goodbye but honestly believe Loki decided to seek out s1 Mobius instead knowing s2 Mobius loved him too much to ever let his sacrifice happen and it would've been too much to bear, so having made his mind up already he at least tried to visit a version most likely to validate his choice. Just wish the Mobius now waiting until the end of time had at least a similar opportunity, but I'm just thankful he didn't lose his memories and could make his own decision that his faith in Loki is what's carried him before and will continue to do so now.
The flip of their characterization from order or chaos is exactly what has me convinced Lokius will reunite because how can they not with such an open ended future?? Even in separation they revolve around each other and they're the only ones left wanting. Mobius and his life are in ruins with nothing but the passage of time and possibility of some spent with Loki ahead while Loki's surely going to find a way to meet halfway when the choice of order has not only made him potentially the most powerful being in existence but one who spends eternity looking at the only person who ever saw him back.

Hello Pia how are you? Not really an ask but more sending thanks and love for all of your writing. I've been a reader for over a year now and am still in awe of your skill (and speed!). I've been getting back into writing and struggling with feeling inadequate or like my stuff reads childishly, as a result I can barely get out 5k aha, but I'm working viewing it as a lifelong dedication to improvement. (On a side note: your work got my teenaged self to snap out of purity wank, forever grateful!)
Hi anon,
It is so awesome that you're getting back into writing!
Honestly, it is a sign of a kind of growth to notice the things you don't like in your writing, because if you feel it reads childishly (and I bet it doesn't all read like that, or most of it doesn't), that means you have skillsets already to aim towards. You can see how you want to get better. This is a skill!!! It's a more painful skill, and it's not a good one to listen to all the time, but it's a good skill to have.
When it feels dispiriting you can balance it out by intentionally looking for and writing down your strengths as well, and writing more of those. It might be only a few lines, or it might be all of the dialogue, or it might be the descriptions, but there will be strengths too!
Also 5k is impressive! Everyone writes differently. It took Mark Z Danielewski 10 years to write House of Leaves, and I love that book a very great deal. Quantity =/= quality, and you also have to remember I've been doing this in a pretty focused way for 10 years! Trust me, if you did this in a focused way for 10 years, you'd be in a different place with your output (which isn't obligation to do this for that long, just that...things take time <3 )
I'm glad you were able to snap out of the purity wank mindset anon, it's a tough one to be in, because it makes you feel like you're not safe in your own mind, and after a while it shuts down curiosity because it feels like everything you're interested in has to be examined just in case it's a moral trap or says something 'terrible' about you if you show interest in it. And that's really hard! It makes sense to me why so many antis kind of really lock into what they think and believe, because they've gotten so used to treating themselves with paranoia, how can they not treat others that way?
And that's a miserable way to live. It's the opposite of benefit of the doubt.
So being able to separate from that is incredible! And that's a tribute to your own curiosity in the world, and interest in exploring different ways of doing things, and I think that's really cool. :D

Being a woc fan of Bridgerton can be a struggle, especially when it comes to liking the poc characters on the show, especially the woc. Like I remember when s1 came out and the blatant microaggressions and just plain racism coming from this fandom was atrocious. You had people spewing very hateful things about Charlotte, Marina, and Simon and undermining the latter two's pain and trauma at the hands of the white characters---Marina was treated terribly by the Featheringtons and, whether you like Penelope or not, you cannot deny that she also played a part by releasing that letter to the Ton and Simon was violated Daphne no matter how people try to spin the story to offer her some form of sympathy (it still blows my mind that people would want to though).
S2 is just as bad (not even including how they changed the Sharma family's storyline than how it was in the books when that wasn't necessary) and the racist undertones many of the fans have towards Mary and Edwina (as well as Kate but for her it's carries more brown woman needing to be saved by a white man when Anthony is involved because a lot of you all in the fandom are quick to use this trope such as "oh, he's the only one who truly knows her"). The lack of screen time for this family really ends up hurting them to but even with that, whether you like Mary and Edwina or not, it would be a lie to deny the racism a lot in the fandom hold towards them (and how that falls onto the actresses because it was very apparent how many in the fandom couldn't let two Desi women shine without having to bring down the other and Netflix played into that too for drama) and paints every small thing they do as being terrible crimes but in the same breath will not have the same smoke for the Bridgertons, who have their own set of problems (but because they are also the main family, among other things, they are provided more grace without consequences).

this might be out of the blue but thank you for your contributions to tpn fandom, you made the community so enjoyable. And you are very cool!
Woah? Thank youuu 🥺❤️ Thank you for spoiling me and reading my stuff. I'm so glad I could contribute in a meaningful way.
Since we're talking TPN, I guess it's a good time to remind that Kaiu Shirai is returning on Jump's next issue!
He's collaborating with a newbie artist for a one shot manga. Let's hope Viz translates it.

It really is weird seeing shouto Stan’s complain about him not being in the fight with Shigaraki, while bakugou Stans out here hoping he gets a storyline that’s not about Deku or revolves around Deku or has to have Deku mentioned or named. (I’m not talking about bakudeku shippers), and he finally gets to have his moment that belongs to him and him alone.
Like, I would love to have bakugou be in Shoutos position where he had his own story even if he’s not in the final fight. But it seems you would have rather Shouto revolve around Deku as long as he’s in the final fight.
It really is weird.
I think for me, it's a bit like how some Bakugou fans do not like that Bakugou's character revolves around Deku ONLY (lately at least), some Shouto-fans don't like that his character revolves around his family ONLY.
I think, for many of us, Shouto being an "Origin" character created an expectation that there will be a story-line where all Origin-characters are brought together for some kind of final conclusion and all their actions will matter to bring an end to the ultimate evil. But as things stand, Shouto's storyline thematically is not different from Uraraka's, who doesn't have Origin/Rising chapters, even if HK had opportunities to give them to her. Shouto is also tied to All Might, just like Bakugou and Deku in a lot of the framing where the three of them are shown together (while this is not the case for Ochako).
Also, in terms of character arc, while it is certainly noble of Shouto to step up for his family and choosing them every time because Endeavor fails to do so, it's also kind of ironic. If you remember, Shouto's Origin started with a declaration of emancipation: "You decide who you want to be", and the person who represents this freedom for him is All Might. Yet when Shouto is faced with the choice of helping his best friend / be a factor in the main fight or go after his brother, it's All Might himself who tells him he has to choose his family to be his best self:
The message "you are not bound by his blood" is a bit hollow - because the reality is that Shouto is bound by Endeavor's legacy still. He can't choose where he wants to be.
Yes, he can choose to act differently than his father, but he - the youngest child, who himself has been abused - is told by the narrative that his path to be a hero is to carry the burden for his father's sins. Shouto doesn't get feel-good fights to show off his skills - he has to try to stop his suicidal brother and (maybe) save him. He only can try to put out the fire while being a punching bag for everyone in the family. (So that Endeavor can go and play No 1 hero and have a flashy fight with AFO). Shouto took the most severe physical harm originating from Endeavor's sins (his scar, the cruel training, getting burnt by Touya) - much more than Endeavor ever did.
And his separation from the class that started after Dabi's Dance continues - we are told again and again that Shouto can't be part of his class, of his friends. He can't be with them at UA, he can't get an umbrella of reconciliation from the civilians, he can't join his friends because of Endeavor.
And I think it's a bit depressing for an arc that started about personal freedom and choices to end with a narrative where the abused kid has no choice but to save his abuser, to take all the punches in place of his abuser, where his talent and passion can't shine and where he can't be there for his friends or do anything meaningful for the final resolution because he's trapped running around trying to put out the fire his father created and ran away from.
And even with all the effort, it may end up that everything he's done is in vain, because Touya still hates him, and might still die anyway. Even if Shouto was saying how it was his choice to face Touya, but the question is, did he ever have a real choice or was left to pick up the pieces by Endeavor
And I am not complaining about Bakugou getting his moment. I'm glad he got his moment of saving All Might and I'm glad that he gets to fight AFO with his own power and get given a gauntlet by All Might and get given shining lights of legacy of the Symbol of Peace as the world watches on. All the feel-good moments after a lot of set-backs and suffering.
I simply want something like that for Shouto too, who has also suffered enough. So he too can have a big smile on his face and be in a fight that doesn't tear his heart to shreds and help the people who helped him, instead of helping ONLY the person who broke his family, took his mom and childhood and made his life a living hell.
Bakugou's narrative is one of redemption where he overcame his own past, righted his wrongs, went down to hell but came back stronger and better and he gets to be lifted up and honored in the story in a personal triumph.
Shouto's narrative is one of collective punishment, where he has to pay for his abuser's sins over and over, right his wrongs, getting stuck in the past, getting nerf after nerf linked to Endeavor and never getting any personal reward or triumph. (While the same time Endeavor gets to do badass things and be lifted in fandom like some ultimate poster boy of redemption - when he doesn't have to do anything for his victims and in fact the ones doing the atoning are his victims).
If the narrative is a hopeful "good deeds get their reward", then I'm still waiting for Shouto's reward. And I feel like the missing story-beat for me is for Endeavor to let him go when there is a call for back-up, and him staying with Touya, so Shouto can go and help Deku. It would also be a kind of "reward / validation" for Deku and All Might for setting Shouto on the path of saving his family if the culmination of the Todoroki family's power would come back to help them in turn.

for the love of everything don't take me saying "don't be afraid to get weird with your practice" as me slandering traditional forms of practice or saying something along the lines of "anything works and traditional associations can go suck a toe" like please. can we not do this today.
we're valid. we do things differently, and we're allowed to. if you find meaning and significance in something you are valid. it's also important to understand that i'm literally speaking from the perspective of someone who lives in australia and thus needs to make adjustments to a magical system that caters to a lot of places that are not australia. so what if i substitute vegemite for salty and bitter ingredients in my kitchen witchcraft? i'm allowed to do that, i'm not advocating that you can use anything for any purpose, i'm just saying you're allowed to get weird with that if getting weird with it is what serves you.
i'm also disabled so naturally my magic and worship must always be altered. that's just a given. please don't twist my words.

just wanted to pop in and say thank you so much for your post about sleep disorders. several of those mentioned apply to me plus I'm a night shift worker And a night owl and it's quite rare for me to not be judged or scolded for sleeping in late. so thank you for sharing some acceptance and understanding, it really made me smile 💙
yeah of course!! it’s been really lovely going through the tags on that post— it definitely feels really isolating to not only have sleep problems (in any flavor,) but also to be constantly judged for them whenever u talk about it, and it’s real nice to see a bunch of people relating and supporting each other!

women will literally accuse women and esp lesbian circles of "not unpacking ""man-hating""" alleged ""misandry" sweetie xo" getting offended ppl aren't appropriately uplifting how "men are amazing and awesome and attractive and i won't be shamed for thinking so" as if appreciating men is a real counter opinion than blame whatever gave women of every sexuality instance to be jaded weary cautious and tired and who'll complain every now and then and continue on with her life until she dies putting up with patriarchy. just welcome to the "woke" internet where misogyny's over and "man-hate" "shamed for not hating men" is worth springing to defences for
yeah i've only seen people talk like men's rights activists and think they're being unbelievably progressive on tumblr it's kind of fascinating. like i can see how seeing people hate on men could mess with people and stuff but you can't demand men appreciation posts that's literally the whole world outside of idk your tumblr dash (or even on your tumblr dash because fandom misogyny from people who think they're not misogynistic at all is really something). men get praised for "babysitting" their own kids like be serious? it's very let men be masculine
i don't think being like men are soooo gross and we hate them is actually constructive and it can definitely veer into transphobia (you'll always be a man/"a male" and thus a danger to women/why would you ever want to become a man they're the enemy and the bane of society etc) and homophobia relatively quickly?
but the way people ON TUMBLR ""combat that"" is often so off to me like if the most basic feminist principles offend you then i'm not really sure where to go from here. i remember seeing a post that was like "men aren't your enemy. they're your friend/brother/father/colleague/neighbor" with a lot of notes and like i don't know how to tell you this but that's literally who's most likely to harm a woman, the men she knows?😭 and obviously not every system of oppression is exactly the same but would you say the same thing to someone criticizing white people like...just very weird
i think women who are attracted to men and dating them making jokes about how they only tolerate being attracted to men because they have no choice and especially the whole i'm bi so i love every woman and only find 1 in a 1000 men attractive (very often said while in a relationship with a man) thing is obnoxious and annoying for like everyone who has to hear it lmao but also when women who date men make jokes about it (not about them being ugly or unattractive or whatever but about them being bad partners in general) it's like. what else are they going to do like you said they're gonna endure patriarchy for the rest of their lives and as girlfriends/wives/mothers they go through the most it's very bleak? idk. it's not like you can date a better man yourself out of patriarchy
of course men aren't a all as bad as the worst guy you can imagine and they're not all out to get you or whatever but saying things like "men don't all benefit from the patriarchy rich men benefit from the patriarchy but jake, 23, is not oppressing you" is like. kind of insane. jake, 14, was oppressing me like have you never interacted with boys in school😭 and it's not like it was entirely their fault we all have to outgrow misogyny it's just you know society etc but some of them never outgrow it lmao and just...the takes you see on feminism on tumblr are astounding i hate it here

EA should have put their foot down when people tried that early access shit and started handing out legal papers. Patreon destroyed the Sims modding scene. You don't see this shit in any other modding community. Fallout London, a completely new experience built on the Fallout 4 engine, is being made COMPLETELY FREE and dipshits are trying to charge 20 USD for a purse they ripped from MikuMikuDance. Smh.
you're so right nonny. EA likes this tho, they'd never stop it. They wanna replace patreon and make it their own so. It's up to us in the community to just make our own way and ignore paywallers if we don't like it... otherwise nothing else to be done really.

very happy Matt decided to clarify his stance on the genocide of the Palestinian people rn. Pretty unhappy with the way he worded it, who he centered in his video, and disappointed to see the responses to it on Twitter.
kinda scared to even post about it bc CR fans can get so defensive about their favorite white people that they can often leave little room for criticism or nuance. but man I have thoughts.
