These underground cities fascinate me. This one is just HUGE. I have so many questions, like were they really like cities in which people lived side by side?

Levi Week Day 2 - Underground City/Childhood Memories
I wanna contribute to Levi week! So here's a fic that I wrote a while ago that fits the prompts for day 2!
Levi knew that their life wasn’t perfect, his Mama’s and his. Even at his young age, he knew they had nothing, at least not in worldly possessions. In truth, Levi knew that he had everything he needed in his Mama’s love. That didn’t stop him from wishing they had more though. Maybe then his Mama wouldn’t have to hide him in the closet while all sorts of different men came to see her. He never really knew what they did together, but he knew it didn’t sound pleasant, sometimes. Some of the men that came in hit his Mama, cursed her, threw her around the room, and she didn’t do anything to stop them. He didn’t understand why she never said anything. This time was no different.
This time when Levi was allowed to come out of the closet he noticed right away the angry bruise that was forming over his Mama’s right eye, her busted lip, the way she gingerly cradled her midsection with her arms as if it hurt her to move without the added support.

Born out of necessity, spirituality, or security, underground cities and tunnels have been built by ancient civilizations all around the world.

The underground city of Derinkuyu, in Turkey's Cappadocia region, is a fascinating archaeological site discovered in 1963. It extends over 85 meters below ground with an 18-level tunnel system. Initially excavated by the Hittites around 1200 BC, it was expanded by the Phrygians, featuring residential areas, storage rooms, stables, a school, wine cellars, and a chapel. Remarkably, the city had a complex ventilation system, a protected well, and large circular stones for sealing entrances. Its original purpose remains a topic of debate, but its discovery offers a glimpse into an intricate underground world.

Red Glow
6-23 - Fan Art.
We realized that we've known and played this game for a decade now, and simply have not done enough fan art of it--
We may have gone... A little overboard, but we really love how it came out in the end-- This is inspired by a small lighting glitch we found on our own, so long ago--
If you see the things, shhhhh-- Everything's fine, and may the sounds of the sands guide you...~
Only we may use, do not steal.

I’m on holiday in London and I can’t stop thinking of how old cities seem to continue deep under the ground: whether it’s because people dig tunnels under them, or because the ground gets elevated - sinking whole streets deep into the ground - or because buildings get built on top of older buildings… it’s just a thought I can’t shake out of my head. Underwater cities, underground cities…
This sketch was a quick illustration of an April fool’s story of a functional church buried under ground to make way for Charing Cross station, and how the church was never deconsecrated:
But imagine: a church completely underground with only the spire sticking out at street level! What a story! A shame it’s fake, but I love thinking about it, especially how it describes how you have to go via one of the maintenance tunnels of Charing Cross to get into the church proper… can you imagine it!

[IMAGE ID: The image shows a photo from the video game Umurangi Generation. The game is rendered using low-fi, polygonal, Dreamcast-inspired graphics. The photo is a close-up of a giant U.N. mech, appearing mostly as a silhouette save for its four glowing eyes, which stare directly at the camera, to the right of it is a building, completely dwarfed by its size, and in the background are giant panels, which show glowing red hexagons with the word "STOP" on them. END ID]

An ancient, gilded city with no king to call its throne home... and a gilded king missing his throne.
This is a WIP of a school project for my digital art and design class, and I am really proud of it!
