I feel like a conversation really needs to be had about proship/profiction and antishippers. Like with many things on the internet some people are just unable to see the nuance in anything and it’s more than a little ridiculous.

Namely, while there are certain fanfics that I think certainly *do* effect reality, I think it’s all been taken a bit far? Death Note is a good example. I see people getting mad about the fact that Light and L are shipped together due to the age gap, and I even see it with Misa and Rem (even though for Rem thats canon..?). This is just so clearly a case that pedophilia isn’t being promoted that it's insane a lot of “antis” have made it problematic.

That being said, I also came across a fic titled “Shota One-Shots” (or something very similar) that was just the author fantasizing about r*ping little boys. While I don’t think ao3 should take this down due to it's mission statement.. oh man. Anyone who writes or reads this shit is a dangerous human being. The fact that so many “proshippers” are okay with this behavior (or deny it’s existence) is disturbing. For this reason I actively avoid anyone that proudly uses this label.. at best, they deny these things happen. At worst, they defend them.

BuT wHaT aBoUt InCeSt??? Percy Jackson is a prime example of widely accepted incest in fiction. Just like with age gaps and minor/adult ships context matters.

It also goes without saying that you should tag content properly. I have zero respect for people that don’t provide content warnings/tag for things like incest, no matter the context.

I’m sick of the idea that everything has to be in extremes man. Use your critical thinking skills. Please.
