Happy holidays! Last fic of 2023 :) I managed to post a fic per month this year, which might not seem like much but was truly a feat. Thanks to everyone who continues to follow me and also to those who might have recently discovered my fics - your support means a lot! May we all have a bright, soothing, inspiring, courageous, or whatever we need it to be, 2024.
Now have your heart broken with some trip to Bespin angst ;)

Concept: we all wake up tomorrow and find out the trip to Bespin is represented in the Timelines book, but it was like, three days tops. Han is actually like one of those people from tiny European countries who haven't seen family members for two decade because they live forty-five minutes away, so his understanding of what "It's pretty far" means to the average person is completely skewed. The entire Han/Leia shipping community folds in on itself and implodes. None of us know what to do without a three-week-minimum trip to Bespin.

I finally finished the last command
and it was a romp (spoilers)
Chewie spends the whole book on the edge of a nervous breakdown but buddy you very much did that to yourself. Sure, you swear a life debt to a guy who turns out to be One of the People in the Galaxy That Things Just Keep Happening To. Bad luck, bound to happen sometimes. But then you decide that life debt extends to his wife knowing FULL WELL that Even More Things Just Keep Happening to HER, and then they go and have TWINS? That’s on you, bud.
Mara “I still do want revenge on Luke Skywalker yes definitely now hold that thought I need to go risk my life to save Leia and the twins” Jade. Mara you’re embarrassing yourself.
Actual conversation:
Leia: Thanks again for saving my life. Mara: Don’t thank me until after I’ve killed Luke which I still absolutely want to do. Leia: So uhhh why’d you do it? Mara: I’m just opposed to kidnapping. Leia: Were you kidnapped? Mara: I dOn’T wAnT tO tAlK aBoUt iT yes. Leia: ... Mara: YOU THINK THIS IS ABOUT MY TROUBLED PAST?? Leia: … Mara: BECAUSE IT’S NOT Leia: … Mara: Anyway here’s the information only I can provide that will turn the tide of the war. It’s free. Friends and family discount. Leia: Thanks. Mara: I’M STILL GOING TO KILL YOUR BROTHER Leia: That’s nice, dear.
MY KINGDOM FOR GHENT. His dad boss forgets to pick him up from AV Club so he spends two months wandering unrestricted through the capital building and then cracks Enigma because he’s bored
A TWELVE-DAY Character Bonding Hiking Trip??!? Zahn’s really outdone himself this time
WAIT THIS WHOLE TIME MARA DIDN’T KNOW LUKE AND VADER ARE RELATED?? Omigod that’s HILARIOUS. I mean, yeah, I guess it just never came up? And she didn’t watch the OT movies? That’s very funny to me for some reason. I definitely assumed she’d gotten that memo
Oh man it really feels like I should have seen that reveal coming and I absolutely did not. Gawd I love the 90s. Wowowowowowow. Chef’s kiss. I have so many questions about the Bespin janitorial system
“LUUKE” I’m dying
Admiral “It appears to be a trap.” Akbar
We interrupt your regularly scheduled Good vs. Evil Star Wars content to bring you “the two Evil factions getting in each other’s way vs the two Good factions getting in each other’s way until they all realize we’ve hit the end of the book and just start attacking everything indiscriminately”
The Climactic Battle Scene:
Luke: Fighting his clone! Han: Pew pew pew pew! Mara: Psychic defense! Psychic attack! Leia: Dual wielding blaster and lightsaber! Karrde: In the back, petting his doggos and talking on his phone I was legit worried about his safety in this book. But he's not dumb; he knows he doesn't have enough plot armor to take on the Big Bad. He is simply the best there is
Wedge / Aves is the rarepair I didn’t know I needed
RUKH!!
Oh thank God the doggos are okay
So as far as I can tell Thrawn made one mistake that wasn’t just bad luck and it was doing a shit job of getting Mara out of the way. The dude really should have had MORE of his enemies killed
Thesis statement: Aww Themb! <3
Now I just need to watch someone explain this series to Ep9-era Palpatine. Preferably in the style of Worthikids.

Summary: Four weeks after Bespin, Luke Skywalker still isn't fully back to active duty yet, and he's getting a little stir crazy. On the advice of his friends, he takes a short trip to the surface of a nearby planet, said to host an extensive library that includes information from the Clone Wars era that managed to escape Imperial censors. On his way, Luke picks up a distress signal and finds several stranded passengers from a malfunctioning craft on the moon's surface. Out of kindness, he agrees to give them a lift to the library. He soon discovers they have picked up a very deadly stowaway.
Author: ArdentAspen2

okay so, I think listening to the spotify mixes might not be such a bad idea... on one hand it brings back old songs I've favourited but don't listen to anymore because they're not in any playlists (hello Mumford and Sons?? Nicest thing by Kate Nash?? Colour me in by Damien Rice??), but also because I'm finding more Ship Songs!
and this makes me think I really should be making more proper Han/Leia mixes rather than keep adding to the massive, random single playlist that is currently at 191 songs and 12 hours. like, I could make a pre-esb mix. a trip to Bespin mix. a rotj mix. so on.
is this the worst possible time of the year for it? yes. yes it is.
will I do it anyway? ....

Other things I like to think happen in the wake of Leon Stamatis’s final death:
The will Uriah Connolly found wasn’t the first anyone had seen of Leon’s will, because of course Leon had updated copies backed up with his lawyer, bank, and a public notary. Instead, it was a draft of his next update, which he hadn’t yet finalized enough to officialize—not fully legal, but clearly intended. To Uriah’s mild embarrassment, it included 6 months of rent and etc. utility payments to himself and other relevant parties on behalf of Michael Tate and/or anyone else who might be sleeping on Leon’s couch at the time of Leon’s death.
Ben Affleck produced a eulogeic biopic of his friend Matt Damon. He considered starring in it as Matt Damon, but eventually decided (on advice of his new friend and formal jail neighbor Nica Stamatis) to direct instead. To Nica’s discomfort, he wrote in Nica in as the misremembered role Matt Damon initially gave her. He offered to let her play her own part; she declined. She asked Nicole if she wanted it and Nicole thought about it seriously but also declined—she likes being a newswoman.
“Matt Damon: The Story of Matt Damon by Matt Damon’s Friend Ben Affleck” may not have been a perfect movie, but it was made with so much obvious love that it won several major awards and launched Ben Affleck back into a real directing career.
Michael invited Autumn and Ada to the premiere. Carrington Vanderbilt, the man Matt Damon died trying to save, had minimal screen time, but in what he had, he was presented as a regretful and loving failure of a husband and father who is robbed of his chance to apologize just as Matt Damon is robbed of his chance to continue being Matt Damon. (Ben Affleck had consulted on the script with Nica, who'd forwarded him to Louisa.) On balance, it was…
Yeah, it was even weirder and more awkward than their first Wonderland date. But in a good way.
Michael and Autumn resumed dating shortly thereafter. He moved in with her and Ada in Providence and they got married in Wonderland. Tyrell was their wedding planner, of course. Louisa broke her own rule to photograph her best friend’s wedding—they were going to hire someone else; they did hire someone else, and Louisa kept telling the other person they were doing it wrong, and taking over. Phil smuggled himself back into Boston to sit on Autumn’s side of the aisle.
There are exactly 2 photos of Phil at the wedding: 1 from the other photographer of him throwing a delightedly laughing Ada (ringbearer ofc) in the air, and 1 clumsy one from Louisa of Phil tripping on a stray streamers and faceplanting in one last pile of cheese. There’s a less clumsy, though still not professional, photo taken by Gemma of Louisa in her Best Woman dress bent over with laughter as she wrestled her camera into place for that shot. Wendell has it framed.
Louisa and Wendell neither get married nor have children, though they do get a beagle. Bagel the beagle helps Louisa sniff out clues (usually food) and likes to harmonize with Wendell. Wendell actually makes this work, musically. He briefly blows up on TikTok for being “the guy who sings with his dog.”
Meanwhile, the Redsistance is still hard at work helping people get by, a task that has alas grown no easier with Emily officially resigned and living in New York. However, typically, it’s MD:TSoMDbMDFBA that really kicks off the downfall of the Bespin regime and everyone associated with it. She basically killed Matt Damon, and that other guy, the loser dad! Legion remains present in everyone’s homes, and its shops are still everywhere, but the people boot out Mayor and elect something like a moderate Democrat, who promptly drops 95% of the exploitative fare and jail things, and un-exiles the Wonderland community…though doesn’t do much to re-provide housing for them…(to be fair, other people do live there, now)…
That’s manageable, because also meanwhile, Dimitri and Mallory have befriended the secret rodent civilization living in a parallel city below Boston (as secret rodent civilizations live beneath most major cities in the world). They—the rats, mostly, but also mice, squirrels, etc—have become allies and business partners with the Wonderland community, much like at the end of The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents (Pratchett).
Btw at some point Dimitri and Nica went on a road trip down the coast, maybe to visit relatives in Virginia. Along the way, they met the Jersey Devil (literally some sort of supernatural creature), and Mothman (a now-old man who played a prank with a good costume in the 60s and felt obliged to keep it up. Dimitri puts him in touch with Darby Cooper and they become happy penpals for the last years of Darby’s life.)
Isaiah and Melissa become a crack political activism team. They don’t always agree on exactly what the best path forward is, but they agree on most of their goals and it sometimes seems like they can almost read each others minds.
Mark Wahlberg starts vengefully stalking the guy who plays Matt Damon in MD:TSoMDbMDFBA, and ends up with a restraining order from Boston entirely. Fuck Mark Wahlberg.
Nica works in the Redsistance but she also goes back to work in Singer’s Sewing Machine and Vacuum Repair. Yeah, she’s rehired partly because of the amazing advertising of MD:TSoMDbMDFBA, but also because she was the best damn sewing machine repairer they ever had. She starts part-time—she’s also busy with the Redsistance; an unnoticeable, forgettable face is a real asset—but it’s not long before she’s full-time, and not long after that it becomes Singer&Stamatis Sewing Machine & Vacuum Repair. She keeps the name when old Mr. Singer finally retires, though she branches out to repairing more odds and ends of common household mechanisms.
It’s an innocuous little store. In the back room, while the proprietress repairs, she also hosts visiting revolutionaries, politicians, and the press, Hollywood directors and local artists, and one famously missing man who always comes home between adventures—who sometimes tugs her out, laughing, onto the road with him. She also welcomes anyone in the neighborhood who needs a good listening ear.
At some point, someone dies. Probably suddenly, maybe violently (they ARE all making trouble for powerful people, after all). Don’t ask me who; I refuse to contemplate it! Instead of moving on, however, they’re caught by Gemma in another crystal ball.
She hunted down the original supplier who made them for Magic Staples, see. “What the fuck, Gemma?” ask multiple people. “So we can say goodbye in our own time,” she says.
“…and it was an incredible tactical advantage for a bit there,” she admits. “Just briefly! Until they’re ready to move on!”
“…and I wanted to see if I could still do it,” she eventually confesses. (It’s all fine, though. Mostly, they all just get that extra chance to say goodbye, then Gemma breaks the ball.)
It turns out that the person who used to bless those crystal balls is the same seer who sold Dimitri those parting puzzle boxes. They’re completely unhelpful, information-wise, but they do advise Dimitri to visit China. Dimitri is still pretty busy fighting omnipresent capitalism in Boston, so he books a flight rather than try to get a job as some sort of sailor again. His plane goes down over the Pacific, but only one passenger is lost…Dimitri, of course.
Nica fights to remain calm. She’d know if he was dead, she’s sure. Somehow. Anyway, it’s Dimitri. Adventures just happen to him. He’ll be fine, and he’ll come home.
She’s right. Dimitri arrives home about a year later having found Amelia Earhart on one of those one-coconut tree islands where time doesn’t really move. (She, too, is Like This.) He brought her home with him. Dimitri and Amelia get married couple years after that.
They try to use Dimitri and Amelia's weird tropiness to bust Ethan's evil necromancy/mind control/cheese robot lab on Coney Island. Surely THAT'S a mystery to reveal to the world! Their attempts at contrivance keep failing, though; eventually they conclude that this sort of thing depends on whatever-it-is being an unsolved mystery to Dimitri and Amelia themselves (until they solve it). And they already know about the evil necromancy/mind control/cheese robot lab.
Fortunately, while Legion did immediately use its massive information-gathering reach and money to purchase as many of those fully functional glass balls as they could, and hired some skilled but unscrupulous psychics to summon ghosts into them, it turns out that it's an incredibly rare ghost who has both the wide-welcoming compassion and clockwork-like mind to function as the massive inter-human connector that Ethan and Legion seek. Leon was, as we all knew, both incredible and unique.
It all comes to a head at last when a young girl's grandmother dies, in one of NYC's many districts of immigrants. The grandmother was special because, among other things, she was strict and precise but always loving, and enough of a witch to own a really good old crystal ball (not one of the half-plastic knockoffs you get these days). The girl is special because, among other things, she, too, has some innate supernatural talent, and she doesn't want to let her grandmother (and sole guardian) go, and also she can talk to animals like the youthful protagonists of the Rescuers movies.
Cheese robots steal the crystal ball containing her grandmother's spirit. Her friends among the secret rodent city underneath NYC reach out to their allies in Boston for aid. The Bostonian rats tip off their trusted humans. Legion is still a massive evil international corporation which may or may not actually be run by humans, but its necromancy/mind control department is broken for good by the power of bildungsroman.
Emily files for divorce.

Reeling from the escape from Hoth, Leia considers the possible reasons Han has decided to leave the Alliance. AUish I guess because I headcanon that Han and Leia's first kiss definitely happened before that one in the circuitry bay.
Written for Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2023 Day Three prompt: Rescue.
Am I promising that this is the best thing I've ever written? No. But it is done. So. That's something, I suppose.

9, 15 & 16 for skyrissian of course
thanks dim 💕💕💕💕
9. When was the first time they felt sexualy attracted to the other?
- for luke it was pretty soon after he was rescued on bespin. it was one of those "oh no he's hot!" moments. for lando it was on tatooine during the time they planned han's rescue, after luke built his new lightsaber and started to practice with it
15. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?
- luke absolutely got tangled in his jedi robes and tripped face first in front of lando. jedi master and all that but zero balance xD lando definitely did that thing where he got drunk and once luke decided to help him back home he deadass said, "sorry, I'm sure you're nice and all, but I have a husband and I love him, he's the best", making luke laugh so much and lando regret everything the next morning
also luke definitely tried to serenade lando with never gonna give you up but that actually worked out fine because it's the 100% guaranteed way to cheer lando up if he's had a bad day so it wasn't that embarrassing in the end^^
16. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?
- this actually happens to both of them equally but luke is more obvious about it. luke tends to get insecure whenever he's at any of lando's cloud city functions and feels he isn't fancy enough. he's just a farm boy after all. it gets better as soon as lando puts his hand on his waist though^^ surefire way to make luke know lando wants him there.
as for lando, he hides it better but luke being a jedi and effectively the most powerful being in the entire galaxy is pretty intimidating a lot of times. and that gets easier whenever luke is very tender with him^^
send me a ship and a number(s)

For Han and Leia Celebration - are the prompts meant to exclusively focus on RoTJ, wedding, or honeymoon, or can they be more expansive? For example, for the Millennium Falcon prompt, could one write about the Long Trip to Bespin? And does the memory prompt have to be a memory centered around RotJ and/or their wedding/honeymoon? Thanks for clarifying. MTFBWYA.
Hi! No; the prompts don't have to be related to either RotJ or TPATS; that was just our inspiration/themes to pick the prompts for this year 😊 They can be used in any way you want!
So yes, "Millennium Falcon" could be used for the trip to Bespin or for something set after the OT or for a pre-ESB mission. "Memory" can be about any memory Han and Leia want to revisit. "Anniversary" doesn't have to be about their wedding - it could be the anniversary of their first kiss, the anniversary of a battle, etc. "Vision" could be about Han's eyesight in RotJ or about a Force vision Leia has or something else! Even "Endor" doesn't necessarily have to be about a missing moment on Endor from RotJ - maybe Han and Leia have to go back to Endor later on, or you could combine it with "memory", for example, so that they reminisce about something that happened during the Battle of Endor.
As long as the prompt features in some way, it's all good. (Except, obviously you can't be like "this is for the prompt 'vision' because both Han and Leia can see" 😜)
I hope that clears it up, and let us know if you have any other questions!

L&V Fic - Practice Trust
https://archiveofourown.org/works/41118447
Summary: On a trip to Tatooine ordered by his Master, Vader finds more than he expected in Jabba's Palace and brings them home. Takes place on the Executor after leaving Tatooine.
Excerpt:
Vader gripped Luke’s elbow gently, trying to help him avoid falling when his bare feet stumbled on the ship’s smooth floor. His son’s right arm ended in a scarred stump, where Vader had cut it off with his lightsaber in a fit of anger a year ago on Bespin. Guilt sat tight and heavy in his chest at the sight of it, though he chose to ignore it.
His son needed him right now.
Luke’s breathing was labored and shallow, but Vader could not provide him with the quick solution of bacta to ease his pain, much as he wanted to. The Executor was on a night cycle.

star wars movies ranked by how much i like rewatching them:
1. Revenge of the Sith - the culmination of the prequels, where everything comes together so nicely, just such a satisfying story. my favourite characterizations of pretty much everyone who appears in it (except grevous lmao) and the 3d cgi finally came into its own to make a very unique aesthetic imo
2. A New Hope - the original, full of creativity from so many people, just a perfect movie honestly. the special effects are absolutely fantastic and the story is simple but so well told. i feel myself getting swept away by the adventure and mystique in this one more than any other
3. The Empire Strikes Back - personally my favourite star wars movie, it builds on the original in every way i could hope for. some excellent character development for luke and the jumping between storylines is super fun. it has some great silly moments with yoda and lando and also some seriously dramatic set pieces on hoth and bespin
4. Rogue One - what was probably pitched as a nostalgia bait plot hole filler turned out to be one of the best character driven team movies in the last decade (all in my opinion, of course). jyn's faith in life and hope being restored is what makes the conclusion so heartbreaking and krennic is such a hateable villain with stakes directly connected to the protagonist. of course the whole cast is amazing. i remember being surprised at how fast i learned the names of all these previously unknown characters because i just liked them so much. each one is unique in personality, aesthetic, and what they bring to the discussion of the movie's themes. they don't all get a ton of screentime, but for what they're given each has a really well deserved heroic conclusion, however sad they are
5. Attack of the Clones - while its not my favourite in terms of characterization, plot development nor does it have my favourite gags, i still find myself coming back to this one for the vibes. it's 85% cgi, but the giant battle on geonosis and the intrigue of kamino are so fun and i think those awkward special effects kind of add to it. it's just fun, yk? the mystery elements are some of my favourites in the movies, although i think that aspect is better done in the clone wars series
6. The Last Jedi - really difficult spot to pick but i ultimately chose this over phantom menace because honestly i usually just watch the maul fight lmao. this movie is tricky for me since i like a lot of the ideas present, but hate it at the same time for completely derailing the sequels. had jj made all 3, we could have had a mildly entertaining if very repetitive nostalgia trip. with the way it was done, we have one of those movies, one movie that completely swerves the opposite direction and gives a taste of something more, then violently course corrects to the point of everything going off the rails. i think had rian johnson been given control for the whole series, we could have gotten something very special, and so this movie is here because it's fun to live in that world even for just one film. kylo is at his peak here and i love the idea of rey coming from no "important" background, i don't love how rey developed in this movie but had it been followed up on properly it probably would have been better. really i like rose and finns story as well as the end scene, which is more of the movie than phantom menace, so there
7. Solo - i really like this movie, don't get me wrong. the star wars underworld is super cool to see on the "big screen" (so they say) and i think han's portrayal is EXTREMELY well done. his arc fits perfectly into his story, the naïveté at the start and the reluctant hero at the end. he's a pure hearted boy thrown into a situation where heroism is punched in the stomach and kicked in a corner and seeing him navigate it is endlessly captivating. i like the new characters too (especially l3-37 and enfys) and it's so cool to see lando in his prime. all the forced-in explanations about how han got his name, how the millennium falcon ends up looking like that, etc etc is kinda unnecessary but id imagine they needed to do that to get the movie greenlit lmao, but honestly those are the things that drag it down in terms of rewatchability for me. once you see how the falcon lost its escape pod for the first time the novelty wears off, and enough time is spent on it that it becomes a drawback, time taken away from what i really want to see: character interactions, development, and fun, unpredictable action. the end where han kills beckett never gets old though and everytime i watch it i have that same feeling of relief, sadness and shock
8. Return of the Jedi - i love this movie, but in terms of rewatching it for fun on its own, i get a lot of what i like about it from other movies. ive always been a little underwhelmed by this one tbh. the death star again is fine, but it doesn't hold the same existential horror as the first time around. the emperor is perfection, but he's way more over the top in rots which is more entertaining lmao. vaders redemption is awesome and the perfect way to end the trilogy, but it is what we were expecting, isn't it? ewoks are fun and work symbolically i thinkbut they make for less spectacular action than other combatants
9. The Phantom Menace - qui-gon is one of my favourite star wars characters, ever. liam neeson's performance is excellent, and i love watching him throughout the whole thing. however, the story isn't as tight as other movies and while i love the thought and implications of the politics it explores, the senate and trade disputes kinda bring it down if im just watching it for fun. the podrace section is really popular for how fun it is, and i do like it, but car chases and races are often my least favourite type of action and i would sooner choose to watch a different action set piece. the fight at the end is AMAZING but i can watch it on youtube if i want so yeah, it goes here
10. The Clone Wars - it's...not good lmao. everyone knows this. but it is pretty fun. and most importantly, it kickstarted the best star wars media of all time, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. seeing the introduction of ahsoka and rex, and the reintroduction of ventress and cody, while neat to look back on, are improved upon in the series so id sooner just watch that. i have no problem watching it, despite its faults, but definitely not my go-to (i do wish we got to see rotta the hutt again though smh)
11. The Force Awakens - literally just watch a new hope. lmao that's not entirely true but all the characters here i prefer in tlj. there are some great moments, like when you think ben is going to accept help but he cements himself on the dark side or when finn and poe escape the star destroyer. the practical effects are nice, the sets and costumes are cool. but really this movie just makes me sad seeing how much promise these characters had and knowing how they all went to waste. maybe this will change someday and ill be able to take it for what it is, but now is not that time lol
12. The Rise of Skywalker - *sigh* yeah this one is just painful to watch. i honestly can only think of one character moment i like from this movie, which is when c3po calls the cast his friends. and thats like one line. i hate what they did to rey, to ben, to finn, to poe. rey's arc just sizzled out, she's more just going along with whatever comes her way, doing what she's told. she has more agency than that!! i honestly think she should have turned to the dark side. my ideal head canon was that rey and ben essentially switch sides at the end of tlj before both realizing that absolute adherence to either the extreme light or dark would only result in death and destruction as the universe fought to have balance. so they both come together in the middle and try and explore the practicality of living in the neutral area of the force. this would have opened up some really cool discussion about good vs evil (which is what star wars is known as being an excellent example of), it would have created a new, unique era of star wars to set future stories in in the future, and it would have ended the saga in a poetic way (the prequels end in darkness, the originals end in light, the sequels end in the middle). alas, this didn't happen, and this movie just makes me sad. there's nothing wrong with liking it, to be clear, i just like to pretend it doesn't exist

it’s my blog and i can vent if i want to, but i‘m putting it below the cut if you don’t want to read it
okay so recreational drugs exist. we do them. our friends do (more of) them. and NOBODY in medicine or elsewhere ever accurately represents the potential dangers of mixing them, with other recreational drugs or with prescription meds or with fucking OTC meds even
because of this massive fucking gap in public health information we’ve had to go through and memorize every possible combination out of every commonly prescribed medication, every commonly used OTC medication, and every commonly used recreational drug. and like a lot of them are easy to remember (don’t mix CNS depressants or you will stop breathing, too much of a psychedelic/multiple psychedelics increases the odds of you having a Journey Through Hell for a trip, for the love of god stop mixing CNS depressants, and don’t mix alcohol and cocaine cause it turns your heart into a much much angrier heart)
and between being the “please test your shit” lady and the “please don’t wash down your percocet with delsym” lady and the “holy shit stop drinking acetaminophen” lady and the “bring me along if you do that so I can drag your ass to the hospital when you drop from it” lady shit gets TIRING
and we can’t stop because we’re the only resource half these fucks have that give enough of a shit to a) tell them what not to do and b) explain WHY. like how every medication under the fucking sun says “don’t mix with alcohol” and they never say “if you drink on this just go slow and drink less than usual, cause it’ll hit harder than you’re used to” like SSRIs should, or “hey keep it to a beer or so tops because you will black the fuck out” like benzodiazepenes should.
maybe it’s just us but we’ve found that people listen 100x better when you explain WHY you’re telling them to do or not do something rather than just telling them to do it or not
and, crucially, american schooling massively failed everyone here by indicating to them that every single drug would kill them instantly. so when they smoke weed for the first time and they live, they assume “welp the DARE guy was lying about everything” and go forward like nothing has any health risks whatsoever. which is how you find out the bad way what serotonin syndrome is, or why we told you not to wash down your percocet with delsym, or why we told you to START WITH A SMALL DOSE AND MAKE SURE YOUR BODY TOLERATES THE SHIT AT ALL
i’m just. worgh. bespin guard death sound dude.

on the topic of headcanons (and I think these actually may be questions you or someone else asked me like a week or two ago, or at least similar to them):
what is a headcanon you have that you came up with yourself?
what is a headcanon from someone else that you saw and immediately adopted?
I did ask you that! So joke's on me because those are hard questions 😛
Headcanon from someone else that I immediately adopted: There are probably many, but there's a very specific one that I'm most fond of, and it's the meaning behind the mysterious Wookieepedia entry for Corellian love stones, which comes from this post. I've written it in a bunch of fics already - Anchor up to me, love (proposal), Whichever way I go, I come back to the place you are (follow-up to the proposal), Homecoming... probably some other.
Headcanon that I came up with myself: I've been here a while and read and wrote a lot of things, so it's really hard to remember which headcanons I got from where lol. I think probably most of the headcanons that have to do with characterization were influenced by other people, and the ones I came up with myself are more like background details, or riffing off stuff that already existed. But I'll mention these two:
both Han and Leia smoke/have smoked, but it's a very infrequent, anxious habit. I wrote this on the first Star Wars fic I ever posted, Nasty habits - obviously inspired by the actors, but I hadn't seen anyone else have the characters smoking then (and in fact I think up until recently, many Han/Leia writers were a bit... wholesome striving). I might have mentioned it only once in any of my other fics though, lol. I'm not a smoker, so it's not something I think about a lot!
in my take of the trip to Bespin, Leia has a very practical approach to her relationship with Han and is basically like "right, we're here now, I've been trying to avoid this for reasons, but since you're leaving let's just go ahead with the sex, we know it's going to happen - just no romance, no cuddling, no feelings, we're just friends with benefits", which is a bit jarring to Han. And she fights her feelings right up until the very end. I first wrote this in Walk your days on a wire and then The one that got away (and then the rest of the fics), and I honestly don't remember if it was inspired by someone else's take, but at the time that wasn't the case with the trip to Bespin fics I'd read.
Thank you!!

Hi, I'm getting started on your fic for the Han Leia fic exchange and I am very excited to write for you <3 Just out of curiosity what is youor favorite Han/Leia moment in the OT?? Hope your holidays are going great!
(I’m editing this bc I realise i can do better with my answer)
Hey!! Ahh this makes me excited too<3
Ooh fave moment would probably be their first kiss as it’s filled with tension and practically glued to the screen grinning and punching the air when it finally happens! Leia finally let’s her guard down for a second and gives in to what she’s wanted for however long she’s been suppressing her feelings and Han just knows how she feels it’s why he’s so cocky and arrogant about it because he knows he’s right and he’s just sick and tired of like dancing around it he wants to kiss her and he does and it changes everything from that point because it kinda shows to both of them it’s more than just a kiss it’s the fact that they want to do it again and to hell with everything for a few moments it’s just the two of them and nothing else matters. (May have gone off on a tangent but I hope you get what I mean.
I also LOVE the forehead kiss on Bespin because it’s such a soft moment which is rare for them two and it just shows their both comfortable with each other and shows how much time passed on the trip there like things happened we didn’t see that made them vulnerable with each other and comfortable in such a close space and Leia doesn’t even mind the display of affection
My holidays have been good thanks, have some last minute shopping to do! How has yours been? :) :)
