Donald Duck and his family mourn the dead in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack and bombing - Donald Duck and his family in Moscow (Russia) and Belgrade (Serbia) - Duck comics - Duckverse
Unfortunately, sorry for the long wait, because I was sick for a few weeks, and I'm recovering a bit now, so I haven't had a chance to draw and post new drawings. Yes, I'm back and will post follow-up drawings related to the previous holidays that were marked as well as the following holidays in the coming period.
Unfortunately, due to the recent events, I am publishing my sad drawings where Donald Duck and his family mourn the deceased. The first drawing shows Donald Duck with Daisy Duck, along with his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck who went to Moscow (the capital of Russia) and where they are mourning the dead and honoring the departed since a week ago (22.3. 2024) a terrorist attack took place in Moscow, in the Crocus City Hall, where over 140 people were killed and over 360 wounded. More could have been killed, if not for a few young men (Muslims and Russians) who saved the other people and took them out of the concert hall, because a concert by a Russian music group was about to take place. Among the dead were not only Russians, but also members of other nationalities who wanted to see that concert. The perpetrators are alleged Muslim terrorists from the Islamic State, and all of them were later caught. I don't want to go further into the discussion about the main principal who financed these terrorists, nor do I want to go into the discussion about the current war in Ukraine, because my blog is not about politics and please don't ask me those questions. This just shows my respect for the deceased not only the victims of that terrorist attack but also all the victims who died in terrorist attacks in the last more than 24 years. It is certainly a terrible event, which is why two days of mourning were declared after that, and I drew the Russian flag at half-mast, because on the day of mourning, the flag is only flown at half-mast, and Daisy in that drawing is wearing a coat and a black bow as a sign of mourning and black clothes are usually worn at funerals. Behind them, you can see the Basilica of St. Basil as well as the Spasskaya Tower, which is located within the Kremlin. Rest in peace to those victims.
Покойтесь с миром жертвы теракта! Слава им! Аминь.
The second drawing shows Donald with his family who are in Belgrade (the capital of Serbia) where they are mourning those who died and died during the bombing by NATO in 1999, as well as the victims in Kosovo and Metohija in 2004. I said that I come from Serbia and what happened 25 years ago was something that many residents of my country cannot forget. I was two years old when it started, so I don't remember it, except from the story of my parents. I don't want to go further into the discussion about the beginning of the war because the topic is too painful, and I doubt that many would understand what I would say. All in all, civilians did not deserve such a thing and it is very difficult to get over such wounds. Because among the dead there were also children who suffered from NATO bombing. There was also the courage of the soldiers who defended the country from the attackers and died bravely defending their country, so they are also honored. In addition to Donald, there are also Daisy Duck, Grandma Duck (Elvira Coot), Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck (Donald's nephews), April, May and June Duck (Daisy's nieces) where they pay tribute to those who died in that war as well as in the violence in Kosovo and Metohija that occurred in 2004, when there was also a mass exodus of Serbs, Roma, Bosniaks and other non-Albanian people from Kosovo and Metohija and the demolition of numerous Orthodox monasteries and churches by Albanian fanatics. Behind them is the Church of St. Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, as well as the Beogradanka building, where one of Belgrade's television stations is located. On that grave is written the dedication to those victims as well as the flowers brought to that grave.
Rest in peace to those victims! Amen.
Вечна слава настрадалима и нека почивају у миру! Амин.
Also, since tomorrow is Good Friday, the day of the martyrdom of Jesus Christ, which is a sad day for Christians.
These are my tribute to those victims as well as those who suffered, and that the victims should not be forgotten and history should not be forgotten, because if it is forgotten, it will repeat itself again. Feel free to share this, but please do not use this for other people's purposes and please do not complicate it with political issues, because this blog is not dedicated to that. May God welcome the victims into the Kingdom of God and may they receive eternal glory! Rest in peace! Amen.

the fact that maria's disappearance has remained a cold case for decades... once ana & her friends died looking for her, they became cold cases too... ana & maria's mom alone after losing both of her daughters, not knowing (for the better, maybe) what cruelty took them from her.
hurts thinking how the victims go looking for maria, what they end up enduring, just to find her long gone (presumably) at black nancy's... the guilt ana would feel for bringing them there, knowing they're going to meet the same fate, that their families won't know what happened.
and of course, how could ana have known? who could have ever thought such horrors awaited them as they set up their camp site in the thicket? as they put up their tent, lit a fire and sat around together, sharing stories about maria and thinking they're close to finding her alive.

thinking about the scene in book!tbosas where teslee (district three female) was being attacked by the horrifying snakes and she nonverbally pleaded with mizzen (district four male) for help. and he only shook his head, not moving to help her - but the book specifically stated that this was more out of stunned fear/horror than any kind of menace or glee at teslee's imminent death.
and he wasn't even from her district too. they were not in an alliance. she literally had no reason to expect any assistance from him, but district divisions & sectionalism didn't matter when she was scared and in pain. none of these divisions of districts one, two, three, four, five through twelve matter!!! not when children are suffering and dying as penance for a just war that ended several years ago! it's as if the narrative is trying to tell you there is no difference between a suffering/dying child from one district or another.

It's so interesting to me that all of the victors who voted no in the symbolic hunger games all won passively while those that voted yes won through violent action. It's definitely a commentary on the cycle of violence and how the victors (victims) who directly were taught and conditioned to repeat the behaviors the capitol wanted, to survive, are more accustomed/predisposed to the idea of violence once again and an eye for an eye while those who did not repeat that cycle - or wanted out like Beetee - and who were less exposed to these behaviors did not want to repeat them

and it’s only that i’m askin’,
is there something i can send you to remember me by?

it only brings me sorrow.

DA2 AU where Varric finds out someone wrote an AU fanfic of Hard in Hightown where Marielle Dunwald and Wael of Starkhaven are a couple, and it’s distressingly popular
He’s pissed bc 1) Wael is supposed to be the bad guy, Marielle would never fall for him, 2) people keep approaching him asking about it like HE’S the one that wrote it, and 3) it’s actually a really well-written piece of fiction and that really bothers him lol
At some point he suspects that Sebastian wrote it out of spite for basing the bad guy on him, but then he finds out that Sebastian never read past the first chapter (“I tried to read more! It’s just, uh… not for me, sorry.”) so he doesn’t even know about Wael
Turns out Hawke was the one who wrote it, 100% out of spite bc she TOLD Varric that she hated him basing the villain on her bf. Then she shared it with Isabela who found it so amusing that she made copies without Hawke’s permission and shared them around Kirkwall
Varric finds out and promises to stop basing his characters on his friends if only to stop Hawke from writing more fanfic (which she absolutely threatens to do). Meanwhile, Sebastian slugged through the rest of Hard in Hightown and didn’t actually care that much about the villainous Wael. But he did read Hawke’s fanfic and thought it was very sweet.

Donald Duck and his nephews as angels mourn the victims - Angel Duck pleads for the victims
Unfortunately, a lot of people died this year, as well as the previous ones, and many accidents unfortunately happened in which a lot of good people lost their lives. Yes, even though those days have passed, I certainly dedicate this on the occasion of this annual All Saints' Day and the Day of the Dead as well as Memorial Day dedicated to deceased (known and unknown) persons who lost their lives until now, whether from disease, hunger, or in war or some natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, mine collapse).
Three days ago is All Souls' Day, while the previous day was All Saints' Day, and the day before that day was Reformation Day. Mostly Christians around the world mark these days by visiting the cemeteries of their loved ones who have left this world by lighting candles for them and placing candles on their deceased. Also, people pray for their loved ones to be better in the other world. Unlike Catholics and Protestants, some Orthodox have a holiday called "Memorial" and it is mostly on four Saturdays during the year. One of those is the first Saturday in November, which are also called Mitrovdanske "Zadusnice". Unfortunately, many famous people (but also unknown people) died during this year, and the list is long, so I would not be able to list them all, certainly let them all rest in peace. Amen.
The old drawing on which the angel Duck is praying was drawn in February, and it was dedicated to the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, in which 30,000 people died, and now, unfortunately, the war in Gaza has killed several thousand, mostly children. Yes, there are casualties on both sides. For this reason, I drew Donald and his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie as angels who are in heaven crying and begging for the salvation of their souls. Whether they will be saved, everything depends on God (this applies to believers and those who believe) and on the persons themselves. And no, they didn't die, but they represent people both young and old who died in many accidents. Of course, Christians believe in eternal life, but it depends on prayer and how many of those people will enter heaven. Not to complicate the topic, this is certainly sad and dedicated to the dead. May they have eternal glory and may they rest in peace! Amen!
Unfortunately, this is also a tribute to deceased actors who played these characters such as Clarence Nash and Russi Taylor. Eternal glory to them and peace to their souls! Amen.

Statement by the UNOCT Under-Secretary-General at the High-level Event for the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism on 21 August 2023.
Tumblr media
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, dear friends, Today we commemorate the sixth International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism. Terrorism continues to threaten peace and security leaving, in its wake, hundreds of thousands of victims and survivors. Defeating this scourge to prevent future victims is crucial. But we must also ensure that those whose worlds have been changed forever receive the support they need to rebuild their lives and realize their rights. The international community has made important progress in recent years. Last September, the first United Nations Global Congress of Victims of Terrorism marked a new milestone. Together, we have charted a progressive and forward-looking international agenda in support of victims of terrorism. This year we are maintaining a strong focus on victims and survivors of terrorism. Member States have re-committed to strong language on victims with the eighth, consensus review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. They are now preparing to review the resolution of the General Assembly on enhancement of international cooperation to assist victims of terrorism. We also continue to strengthen the capacity of Member States to support victims and survivors of terrorism. The United Nations Office on Counter-Terrorism and Office on Drugs and Crime work closely together in this regard.
Finally, I am very proud that, in June, we dedicated a beautiful, young Zelkova tree in the gardens of the United Nations Headquarters, A tree as a permanent symbol of solidarity and tribute to the victims and survivors of terrorism across the globe. Dear Victims and Survivors, This Day is about you. It reminds us that no matter how long ago an attack occurred you continue to live and cope with its aftermath for the rest of your lives. This Day provides a moment of humility and reflection during which the world stands alongside you. I have met many victims from around the world. Their scars may fade over time but their pain, is lifelong. And across every continent, they share an overwhelming commonality: They feel deeply that no-one should have to go through, what they went through. That is why, this year’s theme for our International Day is legacy -- finding hope and building together a peaceful future free from terrorism. This theme was chosen following consultations with our victims of terrorism associations network over the past year. We want to highlight the very human and common desire of victims to make sense, of what happened and to find purpose, to change things for the better. And so, on this International Day, I am proud to announce that the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism is launching “The Legacy Project.” A new documentary gallery through social media to showcase how victims and survivors are creating a positive legacy in the aftermath of terrorism. What shines through this project is the hope and resilience of victims and survivors, their courage and strength, and how, by remembering the past, they are imprinting their legacy in our collective memory. I would like to thank the victims who shared their testimonies with us today. And I encourage you all to visit the project gallery and help amplify the legacy of victims and survivors of terrorism. Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, Two days ago, marked the 20th anniversary of the Canal Hotel bomb attack in Baghdad, Iraq, on 19 August 2003. On that tragic day which we now remember as the World Humanitarian Day we lost 22 people. Many of them staff members of the United Nations working to build peace, security, and prosperity for humankind, including Sergio Vieira de Mello, the Special Representative to Iraq. Terrorism has no respect for nationality, faith, gender, age, or location. We must all, in our shared bond as human beings, stand up against it, and work together, with the victims, to build a better future. The United Nations stands with you. Thank you.
Statement by Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism at the High-level Event for the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism on 21 August 2023.
